I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2000 FORD TAURUS....I WAS WONDERING WHY MY TIRES WERE SCREECHING EVERY TIME I DROVE, MY TIRES BALD BADLY WITHIN A WEEK OR TWO...TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC HE TOLD ME THAT THE RIGHT LOWER CONTROL LINE WAS BENT AND THAT'S WHY I REALLY CANT DRIVE ANYWHERE. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY CAR I NEED A VEHICLE TO WORK AND SEE MY DAUGHTER... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHILE IN REVERSE AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT OBSERVED AN UNUSUAL NOISE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR FACILITY WHERE THE MECHANIC ADVISED THE REAR PASSENGERS SIDE COIL SPRING HAD FAILED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE COIL SPRING AND THE SWAY BAR. THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT YET CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS AND THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS BROKE ABOUT A 1 1/2 YEARS AGO AND NOW THE REAR SPRING ON THE RIGHT SIDE HAS BROKE. WHY HAS THERE NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM TO FIX THE CAR. I UNDER STAND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRINGS BUT I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. WHY IS IT FORD WON'T ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS JUST AS BAD AS THE TOYOTA'S PROBLEM. I HAD TO PAID TO GET THE CAR REPAIRED. IN FACT IT IS IN THE SHOP NOW GETTING NEW REAR SPRINGS PUT ON IT. THERE IS ONLY 67,000 MILES ON THE CAR. *TR
WHEN IT RAINS I GET PUDDLES OF WATER ON PASSENGER SIDE FLOORBOARD. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES OF THIS HAPPENING, THE BLOWER MOTOR HAS RUSTED OUT. WATER APPEARS TO BE COMING DOWN THE WINDSHIELD INTO THE CABIN FILTER AREA AND THEN DRIPPING THROUGH UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE DASH AREA. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD LOCK INITIALLY BUT WOULD THEN INDEPENDENTLY UNLATCH AFTER SHE BEGAN DRIVING. THE SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THE SEAT BELT BECAME UNLATCHED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
FRONT TIRES PURCHASED AT WALMART P215 60 16 DOUGLAS XTRATRAC. WITH LESS THAN 10000 MILES STARTED SHAKING AND VIBRATING IN CURVES AND TO A STOP, VIBRATES VERY BAD AT 65 MILES PER HOUR. I HAD WALMART LOOK AT THEM FOR A BROKEN BELT. THEY BALANCED THEM AND SAID THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. I DROVE THE CAR HOME ,THE PROBLEM WAS WORSE. I GAVE A TWO WEEK TRIAL THEY JUST GOT WORSE. I WENT BACK TO THEM AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR IN THIS CONDITION I HAD TO PURCHASE TWO NEW TIRES,(NOT DOUGLAS) I NOW HAVE UNIROYALS, THE PROBLEM IS GONE. I HAVE THE OLD TIRES, I WANT TO HAVE THEM LOOKED AT BY SOMEONE BUT DON'T KNOW WHERE TO TAKE THEM. IF OF GOVERNMENT HAS CONTROL OVER THIS TYPE OF THING WHY DON'T WE HAVE A PLACE TO GO TO FOR HELP. AND I AM TALKING ABOUT A BUILDING WITH PEOPLE IN IT. SO I CAN SHOW THEM THESE TIRES. OR ARE THESE PEOPLE PRODUCING THESE PRODUCTS PROTECTED BY THE RONALD REAGAN ACT? *TR
2000 FORD TAURUS ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE DEFECTIVE POWER WINDOW SWITCH *CN THE CONSUMER'S SON INADVERTENTLY ACTIVATED THE DEFECTIVE AND UNSAFE POWER WINDOW SWITCH. THE WINDOW CLOSED AROUND HIS HEAD AND NECK PREVENTING HIM FROM CALLING TO HIS MOTHER. THE CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE HER SOME WAS IN TRAPPED, BECAUSE SHE WAS CLEANING THE SNOW FROM THE CAR. THE CONSUMER FINALLY NOTICED HER SON IN DISTRESS AND ATTEMPTED TO RESUSCITATE HIM. MOMENTS LATER, SHE RUSHED HIM TO THE HOSPITAL. AS A RESULT OF THE DEFECTIVE WINDOW SYSTEM, HER SON SUFFERED SEVERE AND PERMANENT INJURIES. *JB
2000 FORD TAURUS SES V6 CAR STALLS WHEN TRYING TO LEAVE TRAFFIC LIGHTS. NEAR COLLISION ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $1500 AND THE DEALER SAID "THAT MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT'S A START". *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE WAS FLAT. AFTER EXAMINING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING PUNCTURED THE TIRE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS WHICH WAS PURCHASED IN 2009. HE STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT KNOB INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS BROKEN. HE HAD TO UTILIZE PLIERS IN ORDER TO TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND OFF. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ALTHOUGH RECALL NUMBER 01V075000, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, HEADLIGHTS SWITCH WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE, HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 75,000.
I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS THAT HAS HAD 2 RIGHT FRONT COILS SPRINGS BREAK WITHIN A FIVE YEAR PERIOD. BOTH INCIDENTS RESULTED IN A TORN SIDE WALL ON THE TIRE.
2000 FORD TAURUS SE. I HAVE HAD A LEAK COMING FROM UNDER THE DASH FOR A YEAR NOW ANY TIME IT RAINS. IT HAS GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT BOTH PASSENGER FLOOR AND FLOOR BEHIND PASSENGER SEAT IS SOAKED AFTER A GOOD RAIN. IT APPEARS TO ORIGINATE NEAR THE BLOWER. *TR

THE REAR COIL SPRINGS ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS ARE RUSTED AND BROKEN. I WOULDN'T TYPICALLY HAVE A PROBLEM JUST GETTING THIS REPAIRED, HOWEVER MY MECHANIC SAYS HE SEES FORD VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM ALL THE TIME (AROUND 3 A WEEK). THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRINGS, AND I READ SOME PROGRESS WAS BEING MADE ON THE REAR ONES, HOWEVER FORD STILL HAS NOT RECALLED THEM. IF THIS PROBLEM IS SO PREVALENT, AND FORD IS ALREADY AWARE OF PROBLEMATIC FRONT COIL SPRINGS, THE REAR COIL SPRINGS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND TESTED FURTHER AS WELL. *TR
THE SEAT BELTS IN THE FRONT OF MY 2000 FORD TAURUS WILL NOT RELEASE ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES PEOPLE HAVE TO CRAWL UNDER THE BELT TO GET OUT. I KNOW WEARING A SEAT BELT IS GOOD TO DO, BUT IT IS GETTING TO BE A REAL PROBLEM WHEN ONE HAS TO TRY TO CRAWL OUT WHEN IT WILL NOT RELEASE WHEN PRESSING THE RELEASE BUTTON. I HAVE A PAIR OF SCISSORS JUST IN CASE IT GETS TO THE POINT THERE IS NO OTHER WAY TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. I HAVE SOME PEOPLE WHO WILL NOT WEAR THE BELT WHILE IN THE CAR BECAUSE THEY ARE WORRIED OF BECOMING TRAPPED IN THE CAR. *TR
I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS SE AND MY WIPER IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY I WENT ON THE WEB AND NOTICE THAT FORD HAD A VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE THAT CAME FROM THE CHICAGO PLANT AND WAS BUILT DURING THAT TIME PERIOD BUT THEY SAY MY VIN # ISN'T IN THE RECALL SO I ASKED FOR THE PART NUMBER THAT WAS UNDER QUESTION BECAUSE IT'S NOT IN STONE THAT THEY COULDN'T MAKE A MISTAKE WITH MY VIN # OR IT WOULDN'T BE A RECALL IN THE FIRST PLACE, WHICH THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME. AND WHAT IS THE ACTUAL AMOUNT OF REPAIRS MADE TO ANY OF THESE VEHICLE SINCE THE WASN'T PUBLICIZE AND HOW MANY OF US FORD OWNER WAS TOLD OUR VIN NUMBER ISN'T RECOGNIZE TO SAVE THEIR COST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHILE TRAVELING AT 35MPH THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. HE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WAS LOWER IN THE WHEEL BASE THAN THE FRONT SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE NEAREST MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS HAD FAILED AND IT SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. HE STATES THAT SINCE THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED ON THE FRONT IT SHOULD ALSO INCLUDE THE REAR. NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR IOWA. APPROXIMATELY 97,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. LEFT REAR COIL SPRING FAILURE. LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED REAR STRUTS AND MOUNTS, AND LEFT REAR TIRE. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT AND TRIED TO DRIVE AND MY 2000 FORD TAURUS WOULD NOT MOVE. IT HAS NOT SHOWN ANY SIGNS OF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING IN THE PAST. IT HAS HAD 2 ENGINES AND AN AC COMPRESSOR WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY IS UP AND NO ONE CAN GIVE ANY ADVICE. I HAVE HEARD THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE FORD TAURUS. *TR

2000 FORD TAURUS - REAR SPRING COILS BROKEN - IT HASN'T TAKEN LONG TO SEE THAT 1999-2002 FORD TAURUS MODELS HAVE HIGH RATES OF FAILURE IN THE REAR SUSPENSION DUE TO CORROSION OF THE REAR SPRING COILS. I JUST LEARNED THAT THE SPRING COILS ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS HAVE BROKEN, DAMAGING THE STRUTS AND THE WALLS OF MY REAR TIRE. NOT ONLY SHOULD ALL OF THEM BE REPLACED (APPROX. INSTALLED ESTIMATE IS $700), BUT I WAS TOLD THIS COULD CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT IF THE COIL WERE TO PUNCTURE THE TIRE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BECAUSE THERE IS AN EXISTING RECALL FOR 1999-2001 FORD TAURUS VEHICLES FOR THE COILS IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION, I WOULD APPRECIATE AN EXPLANATION OF THE JUSTIFICATION FOR FRONT SUSPENSION RECALL AND HOW THAT CASE DIFFERS SIGNIFICANTLY FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION, WHICH HAS NOT YET BEEN RECALLED. *TR

CRACKED FRONT AND REAR COIL SPRINGS ON A 2000 FORD TAURUS. *TR
REAR RIGHT COIL SPRING BROKE IN TWO PLACES. ONE JAGGED END WAS PUSHING ITS WAY INTO THE TIRE CAUSING A 3/16TH INCH GROOVE IN THE SIDE WALL. FORTUNATELY IT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO PUNCTURE THE TIRE. CAR HAS ONLY 55,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS RARELY BEEN DRIVEN IN SALTY ROAD CONDITIONS. *TR
I AM WRITING TO YOU ABOUT MY 2000 FORD TAURUS SES. I WAS DRIVING IT OUT OF A PARKING LOT WHEN A HEARD A LOUD CRACK AND NOISES FROM THE FRONT END OF MY CAR BECAME LOUD. I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND FOUND MY FRONT LEFT COIL SPRING BROKEN. LUCKILY, I HAD PUT THE PROTECTIVE SHIELD ON MY CAR, SO SPRING BREAKING DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR A FLATTENED TIRE. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TO BE REPAIRED AS THE FRONT COIL SPRING COULD NOT BE LEFT BROKEN. WHEN THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP, BOTH FRONT COILS SPRINGS WERE REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL WARRANTY, BUT THEN A PROBLEM HAPPENED THAT SINCE MY FRONT STRUTS WERE ORIGINAL, THEN WOULD NOT GO BACK IN AFTER THE COILS WERE REPLACED, WHICH THEN I HAD TO SPEND $200.00 TO GET NEW STRUTS BECAUSE OF THE COIL SPRINGS BREAKING ON THE FRONT ON MY CAR. THEN I GOT THE CAR BACK. I KEPT THINKING SOMETHING WAS NOT FEELING CORRECT ABOUT THE WAY THE CAR DROVE AND LOOKED. I SOON DISCOVERED THAT BOTH BACK SPRINGS HAD CRACKED AND WERE NOW BROKEN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE BACK COIL SPRINGS TO BE REPLACED ON MY CAR. I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT THE FRONT ONES ARE COVERED, BUT THE BACK ONES ARE NOT ALTHOUGH THEY LOOK THE SAME ARE WERE THE ORIGINAL WITH THE CAR. LUCKILY NONE OF THE BROKEN COILS SPRINGS CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN THAT 3 OF 4 SPRINGS BROKE IN JUST A FEW DAYS. THIS REALLY IS CONCERNING AND MAKES ME WORRIED ABOUT THE FUTURE OF THIS CAR AND ITS COILS SPRINGS. ALTHOUGH THEY HAVE ALL NOW BEEN REPLACED, AT NOT A CHEAP COST WHEN I TAKE INTO ACCOUNT PAYING FOR THE FRONT STRUTS AND NEW BACK SPRINGS IT REALLY ADDED UP AND MAKES ME WONDER HOW MANY MORE CARS LIKE MINE ARE OUT THERE THAT HAVE BROKEN SPRINGS OR ARE JUST A MOMENT AWAY FROM CRACKING INTO PIECES. I WAS LUCKY NONE OF MY TIRES WERE PUNCTURED AND THAT I WAS NOT DRIVING ON A ROAD WITH A HIGH SPEED LIMIT. THIS SEEMS VERY DANGEROUS TO ME. *TR
MY MOTHER HAD A HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND A ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING MY 2000 FORD TAURUS. AS SHE WAS PUTTING CAR IN DRIVE, WHEN LEAVING RESTAURANT THE CAR SUDDENLY WENT OUT OF CONTROL AND SPED UP ON ITS OWN AND EVEN WHILE SHE HAD HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR CAR WOULD NOT STOP, THE ACCELERATOR WAS STUCK AND SHE WAS TERRIFIED AS SHE WAS HEADING HEAD ON TO THE RESTAURANTS BRICK BUILDING WHERE SHE ENDED UP CRASHING INTO AND PEOPLE INSIDE RESTAURANT SAID THEY WERE HURT AS WELL AS MY CAR GOT BADLY DAMAGED AND THE BUILDING. MY MOTHER AND THE PEOPLE INSIDE ARE LUCKY TO BE ALIVE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND BRAKES THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. MY MOTHER IS BRUISED AND STILL VERY SORE FROM THE ACCIDENT AND THE IMPACT WAS SO HARD WHEN SHE CRASHED INTO THE BRICK BUILDING THAT BOTH FRONT AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. PLEASE SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE THIS I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS HAS HAPPEN TO OTHERS WHO OWN 2000 FORD TAURUS. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY HAD A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE IN 2002 AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED BUT HERE IT IS 2009 AND IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN SO SOMETHING ISN'T RIGHT WITH THESE CARS AND IT SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TAKE SOMEONE TO DIE BEFORE FORD REALIZES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING AND THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. AND IF FORD SAID THEY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM IN 2002 THEN WHY IS IT STILL HAPPENING??????????? PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE ITS TO LATE. I WAS REALLY UPSET AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT 2000 FORD TAURUS OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE CAR AND THIS WAS AFTER THE 2002 RECALL WHEN FORD CLAIM THEY FIXED IT. I WISH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I BROUGHT THE CAR OR EVEN LET MY MOTHER DRIVE IT BECAUSE I WOULD NEVER HAVE PUT HER LIFE OR OTHERS IN JEOPARDY LIKE THAT. COIL SPRING BROKE PUNCTURING TIRE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN THE GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND MY VEHICLE VEERED INTO A LARGE MOUND OF HARD SNOW WHICH BENT THE LOWER LEFT FRONT OF MY CAR. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT HAD HAPPENED THEN I BEGAN TO LOSE AIR IN MY TIRES AND I WOULD REPLACE THE AIR AT THE GAS STATION. ONE MORNING I CAME OUT AND MY LF TIRE WAS ON A COMPLETE FLAT,IT WAS REPLACED WITH THE DONUT AND TAKEN TO JUST TIRES FOR REPAIR. THEY CHECKED THE TIRES AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRE AND PUT IT BACK ON. FOR SOME REASON MY CAR JUST WASN'T DRIVING PROPERLY THE STEERING WAS OFF. AT ONE POINT MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND I BEGAN TO LOSE AIR IN THE RF TIRE. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DIFFERENT SHOP AND THEY CHECKED IT AND COULDN'T DETERMINE WHY I WAS LOSING AIR BUT NOTICED MY INSIDE TREADS WERE WEARING TOO MUCH. WELL I TOOK MY CAR TO AN AUTO MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT THAT MY 2 FRONT SPRINGS ARE SAGGING REALLY BAD AND REQUESTED THAT I REPLACE WITH A FULL STRUT ASSEMBLY. MY REAR LEFT SPRING WAS BROKE AND SPRING ON RIGHT IS SAGGING BADLY. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW MY SUSPENSION IS DAMAGED SO I ONLY WORK 3 DAYS A WEEK LESS THAN 10 MILES AWAY CARRYING ONLY TWO PERSONS IN THE CAR. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE, I PAID $962.00 FOR REPAIRS. I FEEL THAT THESE COIL SPRINGS ARE SUBSTANDARD AND DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE FRONT AS WELL AS REAR SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY FORD FOR FREE. THIS BROKEN SPRING COULD HAVE CAUSED ME A BLOW OUT ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED BECAUSE THIS EFFECTS YOUR BALL JOINTS AND TIE ROD ENDS OTHER COMPONENTS NECESSARY FOR SUSPENSION. *TR
BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE AT MAYBE 1 MPH THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE COIL SPRING BROKE PUNCTURING THE TIRE ON MY 2000 TAURUS. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL (ALTHOUGH POORLY WORDED) FOR THAT BUT THERE IS NO RECALL THE REAR COIL SPRINGS AND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING APPARENTLY BROKE BEFORE SINCE THERE IS RUST AT THE FRACTURE. I HAD A SHOP TAKE CARE OF THE WORK AND IT LOOKS LIKE FORD MAY NOT BE WILLING TO PAY FOR ANY OF IT. THE SERVICE PEOPLE AT SHEEHY FORD IN GAITHERSBURG SAID THEY CERTAINLY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE REAR SPRINGS AND ASSOCIATED COSTS BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL, YET IT APPEARS THAT THE REAR SPRINGS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM (EXCEPT THE REAR SPRING FRACTURE DID NOT PUNCTURE MY TIRE). I DO HAVE BOTH BROKEN SPRINGS AND PHOTOS IF YOU NEED THEM FOR THE INVESTIGATION. DID YOUR REVIEW AND DENIAL OF REAR SPRING FAILURES CONSIDER THAT A FRACTURED REAR SPRING MAY HAMPER A SUDDEN EMERGENCY MANEUVER CAUSING DAMAGE OR LOSS OF CONTROL? THE WAY THE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTICE IS WORDED DOES NOT MAKE IT SOUND SIGNIFICANT, ONLY IF YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT CORROSION, AND I WOULD NEVER THINK JUST SURFACE CORROSION WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT PITTING WOULD CAUSE A FAILURE. IF YOU LOOK AT MY COIL SPRINGS, THEY ONLY HAVE SURFACE CORROSION AND I WOULD NOT THINK THAT CORROSION SEVERE ENOUGH TO CAUSE A FRACTURE. THE SERVICE MAN AT SHEEHY EVEN ADMITTED THAT THE PARTS SUPPLIER USED SUBSTANDARD MATERIAL. HE THEN SAID IF THEY SAW A CRACK DURING RECALL SERVICING THEY'D REPLACE THE COIL, BUT IF IT'S GOING TO FRACTURE DUE TO CORROSION, THEY'D NEVER SEE A CRACK BECAUSE IT WOULD THEN FAIL IMMEDIATELY. THE DEALER OBVIOUSLY CAN'T BE TRUSTED WITH LINES LIKE THAT. *TR

I WAS DRIVING A NORMAL DAY TO WORK AS I HEARD A LOUD NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF MY 2000 FORD TAURUS, AND AFTER PULLING OVER AND REMOVING THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE, DISCOVERED THAT THE COIL SPRING HAD SNAPPED OFF AT THE BASE. CLOSE TO A 6 INCH PIECE OF THE SPRING WAS PROTRUDING OUT OF THE STRUT HOUSING THAT THE SPRING SITS IN. I WAS LUCKY THAT THIS DID NOT PUNCTURE THE TIRE AT 55 MPH. AS THIS PIECE OF SHARP STEAL WAS RAPPED AROUND MY STRUT I COULD NOT REMOVE IT WITH MY HAND, I HAD TO CUT THE BROKEN SECTION OF SPRING IN HALF WITH A CUTTING WHEEL, TO MAKE THE CAR SAFE TO DRIVE. WENT TO GET ESTIMATES, PRICES RANGED FROM 450$ TO 750$, FOR ONE STRUT ASSEMBLY. I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO REPLACE THE BROKEN PART. THUS BROKEN SPRING REMAINED ON CAR. THEN ABOUT TWO WEEKS LATER THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO THE DRIVERS SIDE. SO NOW I HAVE 2 BROKEN FRONT COIL SPRINGS. THIS IS NOT A RANDOM EVENT, I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS A LITTLE AND IT SEEMS FORD SAYS THAT IT IS DUE TO RUST THAT WEAKENS THE SPRING. B***S***! I HAVE SEEN THOUSANDS OF OLD CARS ON THE ROAD WITH RUST THAT ATE THROUGH THE ENTIRE BODY OF THE CAR, WITH RUST COVERED SPRINGS, YET THEIR SPRINGS DO NOT BREAK. I HAD A 79 FORD F150 THAT WAS A RUST BUCKET, AND ITS SPRINGS NEVER BROKE AFTER TONS OF ABUSE. I BELIEVE THESE BROKEN SPRINGS ARE DUE TO WEAK STEAL AND POOR DESIGN OF THE SPRING. AND IT SEEMS THAT A LOT OF OTHERS ON THE WEB FEEL THE SAME, AND HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SINCE 2004, I HAD TO HAVE MY ENGINE REBUILT IN 2009 THE COST WAS 1,700, DUE TO FAILURE IN THE COOLANT SYSTEM"PROBABLE CAUSE WAS THE COOLANT SYSTEM ERODED', AND STILL HAVE COOLANT ISSUES, THE REPAIRS ON THE COOLANT WAS ALMOST 700. AFTER THOSE REPAIRS WERE CONDUCTED, I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO GRAND PRAIRIE FORD, BECAUSE MY CAR WOULD NOT CHANGE GEARS. GRAND PRAIRIE FORD PRESENTED ME A REPAIR LIST STATING AT THAT POINT MY CAR NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AND WOULD COST ANOTHER 3,000 TO REPAIR. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO EAGLE TRANSMISSION IN IRVING, TEXAS. THE MANAGER TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND IN FACT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ERROR AND THAT THE BRAIN WOULD HAVE TO BE RECALIBRATED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO GRAND PRAIRIE FORD TO HAVE THE BRAIN RECALIBRATED. THE CAR AT THAT POINT DROVE OFF THEIR LOT JUST FINE. GRAND PRAIRIE FORD WOULD NOT GIVE ME AN ANSWER ON WHY THEY TRIED TO TELL ME THAT I NEEDED PARTS WHEN IN FACT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM. THEY DID STATE THEY REPLACED THE SEAT BELTS DUE TO THE RECALL. MY DRIVER SEAT BELT DISENGAGES STILL WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TIRES SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR DUE TO SUSPENSION ISSUES'BALL JOINTS,TIRE RODS,STRUTS,SHOCKS', EVEN AFTER REPAIRS WERE CONDUCTED IT HAS BEEN A CONTINUING ISSUE NOW COSTING SEVERAL THOUSANDS. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THIS CAR INSPECTED IN 2 YEARS DUE TO EMISSION CONTROL. I HAVE REPLACED ALL OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS AND STILL THE CAR WILL NOT PASS. ALSO THIS CAR WAS A SPLIT YEAR MODEL AND HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE WHEN REPLACING ANY PARTS. I DO HAVE EVERY RECEIPT FOR ALL REPAIRS AND PARTS THAT HAVE BEEN BOUGHT FOR THIS CAR AND THE FALSIFIED STATEMENT FROM GRAND PRAIRIE FORD AND A LETTER FROM EAGLE TRANSMISSION TO PROVE THIS STATEMENT THAT I HAVE MADE TODAY IS TRUE. HOWEVER, I STILL HAVE A CAR THAT I CAN NOT DRIVE BECAUSE IT WOULD BE ILLEGAL AND FORD MOTOR CO. DOES NOT HONOR THEIR VEHICLE. *TR
MY CAR DOOR DOESN'T ALWAYS LATCH IMMEDIATELY WHEN I CLOSE THE DOOR. SOMETIMES I HAVE TO DRIVE 5 MILES HOLDING THE CAR DOOR CLOSED WITH ONE HAND BEFORE THE DOOR WILL LATCH. THIS HAPPENS DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. THE CAR HAS TO WARM UP BEFORE THE DOOR WILL LATCH. I HAVE TRIED LUBRICATING THE DOOR LATCH AND THAT DOESN'T WORK. THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ANY TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS WRITTEN ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE CAR DOOR LATCH WORKS GREAT DURING SPRING, FALL AND SUMMER.

THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 89,000.

SHE DROVE TO A FORD DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE REAR COIL SPRINGS FAILED. I WAS NOTIFIED OF A RECALL ON THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ON MY CAR BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY ROUGHLY 3-4 YEARS AGO. THE RECALL WAS TO REPLACE SPRINGS THAT FORD FEARED WOULD BREAK. I RESPONDED TO THE RECALL AND HAD A LOCAL FORD DEALER REPLACE THE SPRINGS AS PER THE RECALL. THIS PAST WEEK, I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP FOR ANOTHER ISSUE AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT SPRINGS ON MY CAR WERE BROKEN. WHEN I QUESTIONED FORD ABOUT THE FACT THAT APPARENTLY THAT DEFECTIVE PARTS WERE REPLACED WITH OTHER DEFECTIVE PARTS, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST ME. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR FACILITY, NEARLY EVERY FORD TAURUS THAT COMES TO THEIR FACILITY HAS BROKEN FRONT COIL SPRINGS. *TR

I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR TIE RODS A TOTAL OF 3 TIMES IN APPROXIMATELY 2 1/2 YEARS ON A 2000 FORD TAURUS. ONE OF THE THREE TIMES WAS WHEN THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SPRING BROKE (WHICH THERE IS A RECALL ON THE FRONT BY NOT THE REAR). (I DO HAVE THE PARTS FROM THE SPRING REPAIR). LUCKILY I WAS JUST BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT WHEN THE SPRING GAVE WAY VERSUS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THE REAR SUSPENSION. THIS IS QUITE A SHORT TIME SPAN TO HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION. *TR
