PASSENGER FLOORBOARD IS FILLING UP WITH WATER ONLY WHEN IT RAINS. I HAVE HAD THE HEATER CORE, HEATER CORE CAUSING AND WEATHER STRIP REPLACED BY MIDAS AND RAINHAT AND WEATHER STRIPING REPLACED BY FORD BUT IT STILL LEAKS. *TR BLOWER MOTOR SHORTED OUT BECAUSE OF WATER.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH WILL NOT KEEP DOOR SHUT IN VERY COLD WEATHER. *TR
REAR COIL SPRINGS BROKEN NEED $1447.72 DOLLARS TO FIX. *TR
THE 2000 FORD TAURUS JUST STOPS RUNNING WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. SOME TIMES THE VEHICLE DOESN'T START AT ALL AND LEAVES US STRANDED WHERE WE ARE SITTING, FOR EXAMPLE: AT THE GROCERY STORE, THE CHURCH AND SOMETIMES AT HOME. THIS INCIDENT OCCURS VERY OFTEN AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO THE PLACE WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND TO OTHER GARAGES BECAUSE OF THE UNCONCERNED PEOPLE FROM WHERE THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE PLACE WE BOUGHT IT FROM SAID THEY WOULDN'T HELP US BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. APPARENTLY THERE IS OR WE WOULDN'T HAVE TOWING BILLS AND HAVE TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT ALL THE TIME. THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR US. THE OWNER OF THE PLACE WHERE WE BOUGHT THE VEHICLE DID MAKE THE COMMENT THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT AND WE WHERE JUST COMPLAINING ABOUT SOMETHING THAT WASN'T THERE. AGAIN, WE HAVE BILLS FROM THE GARAGE, AS WELL AS BILLS FROM WHERE IS WAS PURCHASED SHOWING THE PROBLEM THAT APPARENTLY CANNOT BE FOUND EVEN FROM THE PEOPLE THAT SOLD US THE VEHICLE. THIS 2000 FORD TAURUS APPARENTLY HAS A PROBLEM AND SOLD ANYWAY. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THE VEHICLE IS DANGEROUS AS IT DOES STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING IT DOWN THE ROAD AND AGAIN LEAVES US STRANDED AND WE ARE ELDERLY PEOPLE AND JUST WANTED TO PURCHASE AN AFFORDABLE CAR THAT WE COULD TRUST WITH SAFETY AND AFFORDABLE TRANSPORTATION THAT HAS GIVING US NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. ALSO, THE PLACE WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM HAS NOT BEEN VERY HELPFUL WITH US AT ALL ABOUT THE PROBLEM VEHICLE WE BOUGHT FROM THEM. THANK YOU. *TR
ALL OF MY COIL SPRINGS BROKE ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHILE MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE FAILED. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE DROVE ABNORMALLY AND WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC. THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THAT THE COIL SPRING FAILED AND BLEW OUT THE TIRE. THE REPAIR WAS MADE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V332000 (SUSPENSION:FRONT:SPRINGS:COIL SPRINGS). THE DEALER STATED THAT BECAUSE SHE DID NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER FOR THE REPAIR, THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 74,000.
BROKEN REAR COIL SPRING PUNCTURING TIRE. *TR

I HAVE A 2000 FORD TAURUS THAT I PURCHASED FROM A PRIVATE OWNER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. WHEN DAY I WAS DRIVING IT I STARTED TO HEAR A CLATTERING NOISE COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY DASH BOARD. I OPENED UP THE GLOVE BOX BEHIND IS THE AIR BAG COMPARTMENT, ABOVE THIS TOWARD THE BACK IS A CONNECTION THAT LOOKS LIKE A THIN ROD THAT HAS A PLASTIC CONNECTOR. I FELT THE ROD SO I COULD FIND OUT WERE IT WENT TO, IT SEEMS TO GO INTO THE FIRE WALL. THE PLASTIC FITTING IS REAL LOOSE SO I DO NOT KNOW TWO THING`S. 1) WILL IT BEING LIKE THIS WILL IT DEPLOY FOR KNOW REASON? 2) IS THIS PART OF THE AIR BAG AND IF IT IS WOULD IT MAKE THIS KIND OF NOISE LIKE A CLATTER SINCE IT IS LOOSE? I HAVE KIDS AND A WIFE AND I DO NOT WANT THEM TO GET HURT BUY THE BAG DEPLOYING OR ANYBODY ELSE GETTING HURT. I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX THIS PLEASE TELL ME THAT THE NHTSA WILL FIX. *TR
WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP THEY ALSO DISCOVERED THAT MY RIGHT REAR SPRING WAS COMPLETELY BROKEN. I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS HAS BEEN A CONSTANT PROBLEM FOR OTHER OWNERS AS WELL!!!! I KNOW THAT THERE WAS ALSO AN INVESTIGATION DONE BUT NO RECALL. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE FRONT SPRINGS (WHICH I HAVE ALREADY HAD A PROBLEM WITH!) AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THE REAR SPRINGS HAVE NOT BEEN RECALLED. I HAVE SEEN MORE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE REAR SPRING THAN THE FRONT. I'M JUST GLAD I NOTICED IT BEFORE IT HAD A CHANCE TO CAUSE A BLOW OUT OF THE TIRE. I DRIVE 65MPH TO WORK AND THE THOUGHT THAT IT COULD HAVE CAUSED A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT UNNERVES ME. ON NOV. 5,2007 AT APPROX. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED AND TIRES ROTATED AT MONROE. WHEN THEY DISCOVERED THAT MY RIGHT SIDE REAR SPRING WAS BROKEN. IS THIS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT? AND IF SO HOW DO I GET RE- IMBURSE ?THANK YOU DELLA DONATO *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE VEHICLE HAS FIRESTONE GENERIC O/P LT RS, SIZE 16/165/184 TIRES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH UNDER DRY CONDITIONS, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD HAMMERING NOISE FROM THE TIRE TREAD STRIKING THE VEHICLE. HE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE FIRESTONE TIRE SHOP AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT COMPLAINED TO THE SHOP REGARDING THE NOISE AND ROUGH RIDE FROM THE TIRES BEFORE THEY FAILED. HE HAS ALL OF THE PAPERWORK, PICTURES, AND THE TIRES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 84,000.
THE IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS FAILED. *TR
TRANSMISSION PROBLEM: I HAVE HAD MY 2000 FORD TAURUS FOR ONLY 3 YEARS AND THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS NO GOOD! THE EXACT MILEAGE ON THE ODOMETER READS 48,143 MILES. I FEEL THAT I HAVE BEEN SOLD A LEMON. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR CAR ON 10/7/07 WHILE ON OUR TRIP TO ATLANTA, GEORGIA AND THE CAR BROKE DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF A MAJOR HIGHWAY - JIMMY CARTER BOULEVARD. HIS LIFE WAS IN DANGER BECAUSE ANOTHER PASSENGER'S CAR ALMOST CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF OUR VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS RUNNING AND SUDDENLY STOPPED. THE CAR NOTE WILL NOT BE PAID OFF UNTIL DECEMBER '2008. I FEEL THAT THERE DEFINITELY NEEDS TO BE A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS PARTICULAR FORD MODEL CAR. I FEEL THAT I WILL NEED TO MAKE A TELEVISION APPEARANCE ON CONSUMER REPORT AND MAKE THE PUBLIC AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2000 FORD TAURUS SE FFV WAGON. STRONG SHUDDER WHEN IN STOPPING IN REVERSE BACKING OUT OF PARKING LOT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD "SOMETHING" INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING. QUOTED $3000 FOR TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT VERY PREMATURE FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. *TR
I TOOK MY 200 FORD TAURUS IN TO GET THE TIRES ROTATED AND WAS TOLD THAT MY RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING WAS BROKEN. *JB
MY 2000 FORD TAURUS TRANSMISSION IS NOT WORKING. THE CAR ONLY HAS 45,567 MILES ON IT, AND ARE THE ORIGINAL ONES AS CHECKED BY CAR FACTS. ONE DAY AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN ATLANTA, GEORGIA MY VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF ONGOING TRAFFIC. IF I DIDN'T TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND LIFT THE FRONT HOOD ON MY VEHICLE, I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT, INJURED OR KILLED. I HAVE HEARD NUMEROUS PEOPLE STATING THAT THEIR FORD TAURUS HAS TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. SO, WHY HAS THE MANUFACTURER NOT RECALLED THIS CAR? THE ONLY WARNING I HAD WAS THE DAY BEFORE WHEN FLUID LEAKED FROM UNDER THE CAR HOOD. I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE I ALWAYS GET MY VEHICLE MAINTENANCE AND GET OIL CHANGES EVERY 3,000 MILES. *TR

NO NOTICEABLE SAGGING OF VEHICLE. TECH'S GROUND DOWN THE SPRINGS CUTTING EDGE AND MOUNTED SPARE. LABOR DAY WEEKEND UNABLE TO HAVE REPAIRED UNTIL AFTER HOLIDAY. NO ACCIDENT, AS WAS CAUGHT IN TIME AND NOT DRIVEN. WE HAVE TIRE AND STRUT/SPRING.
I HIT A CAR HEAD ON GOING ABOUT 25 MPH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. MINOR INJURIES INCLUDE BRUISING, SCRATCHES, AND MINOR NECK PAIN/WHIPLASH. NO PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED YET. *JB
THE LEFT REAR SPRING ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS IS BROKEN. IN LOOKING ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT REAR SPRING FAILURE ON THESE CARS. I DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE IT HAPPENED, I KNOW THE CAR HAS HAD A RATTLING NOISE FOR ABOUT A YEAR, AND I NEVER COULD FIND IT. I JUST DISCOVERED YESTERDAY THAT THE SPRING WAS BROKEN, AND IS APPARENTLY LETTING THE REAR OF THE CAR SAG JUST ENOUGH THAT THE TAIL PIPE IS APPARENTLY RATTLING WHEN THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL LOAD ON THE BACK.
RIGHT REAR SPRING IN 2000 FORD TAURUS IS BROKEN. THIS CAUSES DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR
I WENT IN FOR A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND IT WAS TIME TO ROTATE MY TIRES. I ASKED THEM TO ROTATE AND THEY NOTIFIED ME I HAD A BROKEN REAR LEFT COIL SPRING AND THAT THEY RECOMMEND CHANGE BOTH COIL SPRINGS AND STRUTS FOR A COST OF $830 CDN PARTS, LABOR. I WAS SURPRISED HAVING OWNED A HANDFUL OF VEHICLES NEVER ONCE HAD A COIL SPRING BREAK. THE PUZZLING PART IS I RARELY CARRY ANY PASSENGERS IN THE REAR. FOR NOW I GUESS I AM FORTUNATE TO CATCH IT BEFORE IT BLOWS A TIRE WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE INDICATED BY OTHERS. I NEED TO ADDRESS THIS SOON. I WAS LOOKING FOR FORD TO COVER THE COST OF THIS PREMATURE PART FAILURE. *TR

THE FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE STILL OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE DUE TO THE FAILURE AND WAS DESTROYED. A FIRE AND POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. EACH TIME HE CALLED THE DEALER, THE VOICEMAIL WOULD ANSWER AND THEN THE CALL WOULD DISCONNECT. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 189,000. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THE VEHICLE DROVE INTO THE WALL OF HIS GARAGE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SIX MONTHS AGO AND DAMAGED HIS GARAGE WALL. ON JULY 8, 2007, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE REVVED UP TO 4,000 RPMS, WHICH HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE WHILE DRIVING. IT GENERALLY OCCURS RIGHT BEFORE THE VEHICLE IS PLACED INTO PARK. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 68,000.

THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SPRING HAS BRORKEN ON MY 2000 FORD TAURUS AND IS CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND MANY REPORTS HAVE BEEN POSTED TO THE VARIOUS CONSUMER WEBSITES. I WOULD LIKE FORD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OR INITIATE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE REAR SPRINGS FAILED. THE SPRINGS WERE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $800. THE POWERTRAIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 103,296 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,196.
FRONT AND REAR SUSPENSION SPRING BROKE ON THE 2000 FORD TAURUS. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS EXACT ISSUE, BUT I WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL. I HEARD OF MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, WITH THE FRONT AND BACK SPRINGS MALFUNCTIONING, AND THEY HAVE NOT HAD THEM COVERED BY THE RECALL. I THINK THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO COVER MORE VEHICLES AND INCLUDE THE REAR SPRINGS ALSO! THIS IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT IN THE CAR AND FORD SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD TAURUS. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT MALFUNCTIONED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROLLER IN THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY WOULD NOT RELEASE. WHEN PASSENGERS WERE SEATED IN THE SEAT, THEY WERE UNABLE TO USE THE SEAT BELT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 17,692.
PASSENGER SIDE REAR COIL SPRING BROKEN, AND SLID DOWN TO NEXT COIL, LEAVING VERY SHARP POINT OF BROKEN COIL VERY CLOSE TO TIRE SIDEWALL. COULD HAVE SLICED TIRE AND CAUSED A BLOWOUT WHILE DRIVING, WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN VERY INJURIOUS TO ME.

HE STATED THAT THE FRONT SPRINGS FAILED TWO YEARS AGO UNDER A RECALL IN WHICH HIS VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED. THE FRONT SPRINGS AND SHIELDS WERE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND TRANSMISSION TYPE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 90,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT BOTH REAR SPRINGS WERE BROKEN AND THAT'S WHY THE TIRES WERE PUNCTURED. IN JULY 2006, THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS OF MY 2000 FORD TAURUS FAILED EVEN AFTER I FOLLOWED A RECALL NOTICE AND HAD THE SHIELDS PLACED ON MY CAR. THIS FAILURE WAS FIXED. NOW IN MAY 2007, THE BACK COIL SPRINGS FAIL FOR THE SAME REASON BUT ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL. HOW CAN THIS BE ? THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE MFG OF THE SPRINGS OR THE SPECIFICATION TO BUILD THEM. THE SAME SALT THAT CORRODED THE FRONT, CORRODED THE BACK. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE BOTH FRONT AND BACK COIL SPRINGS. *TR
BOTH REAR COIL SPRINGS ON THE 2000 FORD TAURUS BROKE APPROXIMATELY AT 80,000 MILES ALONG WITH REAR STABILIZER BAR MOUNTS. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO TIRES, BUT I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS THE TIRES COULD BE PUNCTURED BY THE BROKEN SPRINGS. THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER, NO RECALL ON THE REAR SPRINGS EVEN THOUGH THE SAME DANGER EXISTED. THE REPAIR BILL WILL BE SETTLED TODAY ,AND I ANTICIPATE IT TO EXCEED $500 FOR THIS PROBLEM. THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON ALL 4 COIL SPRINGS ON THE FORD TAURUS MODELS AFFECTED.*AK
