I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY ANTI THEFT LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN THIS LIGHT CAME ON IT FELT LIKE THE CAR WAS SHIFTING GEARS. DOESN'T SEEM TO COME ON WHEN THE CAR IS COLD BUT AFTER IT HAS RAN FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES. I WENT TO TOWN AND BACK WHICH IS A TEN MINUTE DRIVE AND IT CAME ON 12 TIMES. I BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS MY KEY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS DOING IT WITH MY HUSBANDS KEY ALSO. THEY GAVE US A NEW KEY AND PROGRAMED IT. WITHIN ABOUT TWO MINUTES OF LEAVING THE DEALER SHIP MY ANTI THEFT LIGHT CAME BACK ON. I WON'T DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE I'M AFRAID THAT IT IS JUST GOING TO DIE. MY HUSBAND TOOK THE CAR TODAY TO WORK AND ON HIS WAY HOME ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH STARTED FLASHING AND THEN THE CAR JUST QUIT. HE WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN AND DROVE IT HOME IT IS NOW PARKED UNTIL WE CAN GET IT INTO A GARAGE AND FIGURE THIS OUT. I HAVE LOOKED ON LINE AND IT SEEMS TO ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TAURUS. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THEIR IS A RECALL AND IF YOU MIGHT KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON. THE DEALER SHIP THAT I TALKED TO TODAY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MIGHT BE A CENSER THAT ISN'T WORKING CORRECTLY. THE FORD DEALER SHIP THAT I BROUGHT THIS TO ALREADY HAS KNOW IDEA WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON. HOPEFULLY THE NEXT DEALER SHIP DOES.
I HAVE A 2006 FORD TAURUS AND WITHIN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS IT WILL DIE WHILE SITTING AT A REDLIGHT. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTART THE CAR AND THAT USUALLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS. TODAY, HOWEVER, IT STALLED AT A REDLIGHT AND I RESTARTED BUT AS I CONTINUED DRIVING, THE RPM WOULD DROP RAPIDLY WHEN I HIT THE BREAKS AND IT ACTED LIKE IT WOULD DIE. I CONTINUED DRIVING AND WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN ALL THE ODOMETERS DROPPED TO ZERO AND EVERYTHING ON THE DASHBOARD WENT OUT. I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND THEN EVERYTHING CAME BACK ON. VERY STRANGE AND NOW I'M WORRIED THE CAR MIGHT DIE WHEN I'M ACTUALLY DRIVING AND NOT SITTING AT A REDLIGHT. *KB
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE EVEN WHILE THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED. WE WERE TRAVELING ABOUT 80MPH WHILE THE BRAKE WAS BEING APPLIED. AT THE NEXT EXIT, I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT IT WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET MY CAR TO STOP AS THE RPM WERE INCREASING AS THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN PARK AND THE IGNITION WAS SHUT OFF. AFTER ABOUT 5 MIN, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND SEEMED TO BE FINE. AS SOON AS THE ACCELERATED WAS PRESSED AGAIN HOWEVER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. IT WAS THEN TOWED TO A FORD DEALER WHERE THE ACCELERATOR CABLE WAS REPLACED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF FAILURE; HOWEVER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,531. I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN NOV OF 2010 AND THE SPEED CONTROL ISSUE BEGAN IN JULY OF 2011. THE ENGINE RPM WOULD GO UP AROUND 4 OR 5 WHILE COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING. AT TIMES THIS MADE IT HARD TO SLOW DOWN. I WOULD HAVE TO SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE TO GET SLOWED OR STOPPED. NOTICED THAT THE SPEED CONTROL DID NOT WORK DURING THIS TIME PERIOD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL INSPECTION STATION AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH A ZIP TIE. NOT TO SURE IF THAT WOULD WORK. IT DID CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2006 FORD TAURUS WITH APPROXIMATELY 91,000 MILES. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON IT'S OWN AS IF THE GAS PEDAL IS STUCK. THE PROBLEM BEGAN AFTER THE VEHICLE'S CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. THE PROBLEM WITH SELF ACCELERATION IS OCCURRING DAILY AT THIS POINT. "STOMPING" THE ACCELERATOR IS THE ONLY REMEDY TO THE PROBLEM DURING DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO ACCELERATE TO HIGH SPEEDS UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR IS REPEATEDLY PUSHED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE CONTACT FEELS THIS IS SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT HAVE DEPLOYED IN AN CRASH. REGARDING ACTION #PE12005.SUDDEN ACCELERATION, MY 2006 FORD TAURUS HAD SEVERAL INSTANCES OF ACCELERATION, BEGINNING JULY 14 & 15TH 2011, AND ENDING APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 2011...I KNOW THE BEGINNING DATES ARE ACCURATE, BECAUSE ONE OF THESE DATES IS A FAMILY BIRTHDAY, AND IT HAPPENED FIRST ON THAT BIRTHDAY.. THIS USUALLY HAPPENED WHEN I WAS DECELERATING, SUCH AS AT STOP LIGHTS..IT REQUIRED HARD, HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STOPPED UNTIL I COULD PULL OVER AND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL I WOULD GUESS THE NUMBER OF INSTANCES TO BE 6-8 TIMES THIS SOMEHOW SEEMED RELATED TO MY CRUISE CONTROL..MY CRUISE STOPPED WORKING ON JUNE 14 2011, THEN THE INCIDENTS OF ACCELERATION STARTED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY..I WAS USUALLY DRIVING A DAILY STRETCH OF ROAD AT 45 MPH WHEN THE INSTANCES OF ACCELERATION OCCURRED. WHEN THE ACCELERATIONS HAPPENED, I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, RIDING THE BRAKES HARD UNTIL I WAS SLOWED, THEN I SLIPPED THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FAST AND RELEASE..THIS USUALLY CAUSED THE ACCELERATION TO STOP...OCCASIONALLY I HAD TO SHUT THE ENGINE OFF TO GET THIS TO CEASE.. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS, THIS ALL STOPPED, AND HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN IN SEVERAL MONTHS...MY CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKS.. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN. IT ACCELERATES AT A HIGH RPM AND WILL NOT STOP. WE HAVE HAD MANY "NEAR MISSES" RUNNING RED LIGHTS AND FAILING TO STOP WHEN NECESSARY. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AND TOLD US THAT THE PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH THE 2006 MODEL TAURUS. AFTER SEVERAL INCIDENTS, THE DEALER WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR AS THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS MODEL TO DATE. I AM NOT SURE WHERE TO GO FROM HERE OR IF THERE IS A WAY TO DISABLE THE CRUISE CONTROL ALTOGETHER. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THE VEHICLE IS TO APPLY HEAVY BRAKE PRESSURE, SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE. SOMETIMES THIS WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL NOT. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE NHTSA IS INVESTIGATING THESE VEHICLES FOR THIS PROBLEM. I DO HOPE THEY MOVE QUICKLY ON THIS BEFORE ANYTHING SERIOUS HAPPENS IF IT HAS NOT ALREADY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SMOKE WHEN IT WAS TURNED ON. THE OIL, BATTERY, ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE A LOUD NOISE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST THE CONTACT WITH THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REMEDIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
WHEN DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE WHEN PRESSURE WAS TAKEN OFF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THIS TYPICALLY OCCURRED AROUND 55 MPH. IT FELT AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON, BUT IT WAS NOT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE ON ITS OWN, I WOULD APPLY THE BRAKE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHEN I WOULD STOP, THE ENGINE WAS REMAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 2,000 RPMS. THIS PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT DID OCCUR APPROXIMATE 10 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF A WEEK (UNTIL THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AT A MECHANIC SHOP). FURTHERMORE, THE CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKED. A CERTIFIED MECHANIC FOUND THAT THE WIRE HAD BROKEN/DETACHED WITHIN THE CRUISE CONTROL/THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. THIS WIRE WAS THE REASON WHY THE CRUISE CONTROL NO LONGER WORKED AND WHY THE THROTTLE WAS GETTING "STUCK." THE ENTIRE CRUISE CONTROL ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR
FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, MY CAR HAS BEEN ACCELLERATING ON ITS OWN. I WILL NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE ACCELLERATOR AND THE CAR WILL SPEED UP. RPMS SHOOT UP TO 4 OR 5. THIS HAS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. PUMPING THE ACCELLERATOR IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CAR UNDER CONTROL. WHILE COMING HOME FROM VACATION YESTERDAY, I TRIED TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT AND COULDN'T STOP. THANKFULLY, AN ACCIDENT WAS AVOIDED AS NOTHING WAS CROSSING THE INTERSECTION. IT WAS A VERY SCARY RIDE HOME, AND I AM THANKFUL MY FAMILY DIDN'T GET KILLED BY THIS OBVIOUS DEFECT IN THIS CAR. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SEVERAL DEATHS BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE, ALTHOUGH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BY SHIFTING TO NEUTRAL AND ENGAGING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS FRACTURED AND THE THROTTLE BODY AND CABLE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,981 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000. ..UPDATED 04/16/12 *BF ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR INVOICE, THE CABLE WAS BROKEN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CABLE AND THROTTLE BODY. UPDATED 05/17/12
STARTED WITH JUST ABS AND "CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM" LIGHT COMING ON. ESCALATED TO SHUTTING THE CAR TOTALLY OFF WHILE DRIVING FREEWAY SPEEDS. PART OF THE DRIVING WAS AT NIGHT AND THE LIGHTS TURNED OFF ALSO MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO PULL OVER AND THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME WHEN IT HAPPENED. TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER IN YAKIMA AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DO THAT, EVEN THOUGH IT DID IT 3 TIMES ENROUTE AND ALSO WHEN I LEFT. TELL ME WHAT THIS IS SO I CAN GET IT FIXED! MAKES THE CAR BASICALLY UNDRIVABLEAND DANGEROUS TO PASSENGERS AND OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD. *TR
THE CRUISE CONTROL ON MY FORD TAURUS STOPPED WORKING APPROXIMATELY A YEAR AGO (THOUGH IT COULD BE LONGER) AND SINCE THAT TIME MY CAR WILL PERIODICALLY SPEED UP ON ITS OWN! IT OCCURRED AGAIN THIS MORNING IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC!!! LUCKILY, I TAPPED THE ACCELERATOR SEVERAL TIMES AND MANAGED TO GET IT UNSTUCK BUT THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED OR (HEAVEN FORBID) KILLED. *JS
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS MY CAR HAS SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL SHUTS OFF AND THE CAR ITSELF TURNS OFF. BASICALLY THE CAR IS ELECTRICALLY DEAD. I HAVE LITERALLY HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, SO IT WILL CONTINUE TO COAST TO LESSEN THE CHANCE OF BEING REAR ENDED, SWITCH THE IGNITION TO OFF AND PRAY THAT THE CAR TURNS BACK ON WHEN I SWITCH THE IGNITION BACK ON. IN MOST INSTANCES THIS HAS BEEN SUCCESSFUL BUT ON ONE OCCASION I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND COAST TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE INTERMITTENT NATURE OF THIS PROBLEM MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE. I HAVE CHECKED THE BATTERY CONNECTIONS AND THE GROUND WIRE AND ALL SEEM TO BE SECURE AND TIGHT WITH NO "PLAY" THAT I CAN DETERMINE. I DON'T BELIEVE IT IS THE BATTERY OR THE CAR WOULDN'T START TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
DURING A TEN MILE COMMUTE TO WORK THE AUTO UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED TO 45 MPH. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND SPEED REDUCED TO 25 MPH THE AUTO WOULD AGAIN ACCELERATE WITH FOOT OF PEDAL. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTED TO PARK RPM WENT TO 6000. AFTER SHUTTING DOWN AND RESTARTING PROBLEM WENT AWAY. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN A FOUR WEEK PERIOD.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING PRECIPITATION, WATER WOULD LEAK INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD, CAUSING THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONING MOTOR TO SHORTEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE WINDSHIELD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AS THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD COME TO A STOP AFTER FIRMLY APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE UNEXPECTED FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY AND SPEED CONTROL CABLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE YET THE CAR BEGAN TO JUMP AND MOVE FORWARD WHILE MY FOOT ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE INCREASED ACCELERATION AND PROCEEDED THROUGH AN INTERSECTION HAPHAZARDLY. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY REDUCED SPEED AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL FORCEFULLY NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. ALSO, ON A SEPARATE OCCASION WHEN DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE CRUISE CONTROL SUDDENLY BECAME INOPERATIVE. AFTER THE CRUISE CONTROL MALFUNCTION THE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION NO LONGER PERSISTED. THERE WAS CURRENTLY AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE12005 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:CABLES). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000. MY 2006 FORD TAURUS ACCELERATES WHEN I LET MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL CAR STARTS TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN, EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK THE RPM'S SHOOT UP. TO MAKE IT STOP I TAP THE GAS PEDAL WHILE IT'S ACCELERATING AND BECOMES UNSTUCK THIS DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN OUR 2006 FORD TAURUS AND IT SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO BE MANUALLY PUSHED OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A GARAGE NEARBY AND THE OWNER SAID "THE TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY SHOT". WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AGAIN TO PRECISION TRANSMISSION IN WHITEVILLE, NC. THEY NOTIFIED US THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER IN THIS TAURUS IS DEFECTIVE. THE SHOP OWNER ALSO TOLD ME THAT THERE WERE 3 OTHER TAURUSES ON THE LOT TO BE REPAIRED AT THE SAME TIME. THE SHOP OWNER KNEW EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH OUR CAR BEFORE THEY EVEN LOOKED AT IT BECAUSE SHE SAID THAT THE METAL USED IN THE TORQUE CONVERTERS IN SEVERAL YEARS OF TAURUS MAKING WAS DEFECTIVE. WE OWN 2 FORD TAURUSES, THE OTHER ONE IS A 2007. WE DO NOT WANT OUR OTHER CAR TO JUST STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BECAUSE IT IS VERY VERY DANGEROUS. THE SHOP OWNER INFORMED ME THAT THE 2007 TAURUSES WILL PROBABLY HAVE THE SAME FATE AS THE 2006. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE THIS IS DEADLY. IT COST US $825 FOR THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TOWING. *TR

SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS HAVE BEEN A PROBLEM IN VERY HARD RAINS OR HEAVY SNOWSTORMS. THEY DRIVERS SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD CATCH ONTO THE OTHER ONE AND GET SNAGGED. I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND UNTANGLE THEM AND SOMETIMES DRIVE REAL SLOW BENDING OVER TO LOOK OUT OF THE PASSENGERS SIDE WINDOW. THIS WOULD HAPPEN OFF AND ON DURING HARD RAINS OR HEAVY SNOWSTORMS. THIS YEAR WAS THE WORST. IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY WHEN WE HAD A HEAVY SNOWSTORM THE DRIVER SIDE WINDSHIELD WIPER WOULD STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CYCLE AND SIT RIGHT IN THE CENTER OF THE WINDSHIELD. I ONCE AGAIN HAD TO DRIVE IN PERIL. THIS APRIL (29TH), WE HAD ANOTHER HEAVY SNOWSTORM AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER FROZE AGAIN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CYCLE, THEN IT WOULD SLAM ALL THE WAY OVER ONTO THE DRIVERS SIDE VIEW MIRROR AND GET STUCK THERE. I DROVE TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY TIGHTENED SOME SCREW ON MY WIPER AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. THE SAME THING HAPPENED THE NEXT WEEK (MARCH 4TH), IN A HEAVY RAIN. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AGAIN AND UN-SNAG THE WIPER FROM THE SIDE-VIEW MIRROR. EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS IN REAL PERIL OF HAVING AN ACCIDENT. I COULDN'T SEE THE ROAD AND WAS JUST LUCKY THAT I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT EACH TIME THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. I ONCE AGAIN WENT DIRECTLY TO MY FORD DEALER AND THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A STRIPPED WINDOW WIPER TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THE PROBLEM WAS NOT COVERED IN MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS SHOCKED SINCE I WAS TOLD THAT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERED EVERYTHING ON THE CAR. I HAD TO PAY $89.50 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THEN $241.98 FOR PARTS AND LABOR. I RESEARCHED PROBLEMS WITH 2006 FORD TAURUS SEDANS AND FOUND THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR HAD A RECALL. I LET MY FORD DEALER KNOW THIS AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS BAD NOT THE MOTOR. IT SEEMS THAT WINDOW WIPER DESIGN IS FAULTY WHETHER ITS THE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION.

THE CHECK BATTERY LIGHT WOULD COME ON WHILE JUST TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD. THIS OCCURS JUST A RANDOM TIME AND IN ANY KIND OF WEATHER. THE TRANNY FLUID WAS BURNED BADLY. THEY SAID I NEEDED IT TOTALLY REPLACED AT A COST OF NEARLY $4,000. I HAD NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS WITH THE CAR. AND THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A "SUDDEN FAILURE" OF THE TRANSMISSION. HE SAID HE HAD SEEN OTHER FORD TAURUS'S WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE CAR ONLY HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT. I CALLED FORD AND WAS TOLD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP. WE DID THAT AND WERE GIVEN THE SAME RESULT. I WAS JUST DRIVING HOME NOTHING DIFFERENT , I SLOWED DOWN TO TAKE MY EXIT WHEN I NOTICE THAT THE CAR WAS HAVING ISSUE IN SLOWING DOWN AT THAT TIME I TOOK MY FOOT OF THE GAS TO SEE IF THE CAR WOULD LOW DOWN AND IT DIDN'T THE SPEED HAND WENT UP TO 40 MPH BEFORE I TRIED TO SLOW IT DOWN, THE GAS WAS STILL FEEDING INTO THE MOTOR LIKE MY FOOT WAS ON THE GAS AND IT WASN'T. THE PROBLEM HAS NOT YET BEEN CORRECTED I'M TRYING TO HAVE THE CAR PICKED UP TO BE CARRIED TO THE SHOP CAUSE I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. *TR
THE EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE OF MY 2006 FORD TAURUS JUST DRIVING NORMAL AND AFTER AWHILE THE PEDAL WOULD GET STOCK AND KEEP THE SPEED PLUS GO TO ABOUT 60 TO 65 MPH. FROM SPEED OF 45 TO 55 BEING DROVE. IT HAS HAPPENED MORE THEN 20 TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH I 'M IN FEAR THAT I'M REALLY ENDANGERING MYSELF OTHERS ON THE HIGHWAYS AND ON THE ROADS PERIOD. SO FAR IT HARD TO STOP THE CAR WITH THE BREAKS WHEN THIS HAPPENING BECAUSE THE GAS IS STILL FEEDING TO THE MOTOR. I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALER AFTER I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY COULD FIND THE PROBLEM SO I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER AND FOUND THAT WHEN TEST DROVE IT DID THE SAME WITH THEM, THEY TOO AND CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY AND DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL SAYING THAT'S WHERE THE MALFUNCTION CAME FROM. THEY ALSO BUT IN A NEW SPRING BEHIND THE PEDAL. WITH THAT BEING DONE IT STILL DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THEY MADE IT CLEAR THAT THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT'S HAPPENING I DON'T UNDERSTAND BECAUSE WE NEVER USES THE CRUISE CONTROL IN THE 4 YEARS THAT I HAVE HAD IT. THE OLD PARTS IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 80MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ON WHEN I DECIDED TO EXIT THE HIGHWAY TO GO TO A GAS STATION. AT THE TIME THE LIGHT WAS GREEN SO I MAINTAINED SPEED BUT SLOWED GRADUALLY. THE LIGHT TURNED YELLOW AND I TRIED TO SPEED UP A LITTLE BIT. THE LIGHT QUICKLY TURNED RED. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES HARD AS I POSSIBLY COULD BUT THE VEHICLE DIDN'T SEEM TO SLOW AND THE ENGINE RPM REMAINED STEADY. I MANAGED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO AROUND 35MPH BEFORE HAVING TO TAKE AN EVASIVE MANEUVER INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION THROUGH A RED LIGHT. I STRUCK ONE CAR AND IT SPUN ME AROUND HITTING ANOTHER CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD TAURUS. WHILE MAKING A SHARP TURN WITH HER FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO A WALL. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED BUT THERE WERE NO INJURIES. WHEN THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED, AN AUTHORIZED DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE; ALTHOUGH, THEY DID NOT INSPECT IT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 40,570.
