WHILE DRIVING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED JERKING THE CAR TO THE RIGHT. THIS CAUSED ME TO GRAZE THE CURB. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE JUMPING THE CURB AND HITTING A TREE. I LIMPED THE CAR HOME WITHOUT POWER STEERING. I HAVE SEEN THE SAFETY RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUES FOR 2011 AND UP FORD TAURUS. SINCE MY PARTICULAR MODEL, SHO IS THE ONLY VEHICLE IN THE TAURUS THAT INCORPORATES THIS SYSTEM IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THIS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS OCCURRING. IT IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE WITH 2011 AND UP RECALLS THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY SHO AND NEVER INFORMED.
ON SUNDAY, 2/11/2018, I WAS DRIVING EAST I-26 IN COLUMBIA, SC HEADING TO WORSHIP SERVICES AND WITHOUT WARNING, MY CAR SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN CAUSING ME TO LOSE MY STEERING ABILITY. I MANAGED TO GUIDE THE CAR OUT OF THE 60 MPH TRAFFIC AND CAME TO A STOP. AFTER I STOPPED, I SAW A PUFF OF WHAT APPEARED TO BE STEAM OR SMOKE COMING FROM THE RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. AS I OPENED THE HOOD, I COULD NOT SEE ANY LEAKS OR OTHER EVIDENCE OF A BROKEN HOSE OR ANYTHING THAT PRODUCED THE SMOKE. I CHECKED MY FLUID LEVELS AND DISCOVERED THAT MY RADIATOR RESEVOIR WAS LOW ON FLUID. I THEN PULLED THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK AND DISCOVERED A CHOCOLATE MILKY SUBSTANCE ON THE DIPSTICK. I SUSPECTED THAT THE OIL AND COOLANT HAD MIXED CAUSING MY ENGINE TO FAIL. I CALLED A WRECKER SERVICE AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO CLASSIC FORD OF COLUMBIA. ON MONDAY, 2/12/2018, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM DEAN RAY, SERVICE PROFESSIONAL FROM CLASSIC FORD. MR. RAY TOLD ME THAT HE THOUGHT THAT THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP FAILED CAUSING THE COOLANT AND OIL TO MIX AND POSSIBLE RUINED THE ENGINE AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. AFTER RECEIVING THIS INFORMATION, I CONDUCTED RESEARCH AND DISCOVERED THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE DESIGN FLAW WITH THE FAILURE OF THE INTERNAL WATER PUMP. WHEN FAILURE OF THE WATER PUMP OCCURS, THERE IS NO WARNING GIVEN TO THE DRIVER THE ENGINE SHUTS DOWN SUDDENLY. THIS INTERNAL WATER PUMP WAS PLACED IN THE 3.5 DURATEC ENGINES IN THE TAURUS, EDGE, FLEX, FUSION, AND POSSIBLY OTHER FORD CARS. THIS FAILURE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HAVE A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON A MAJOR INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. I THINK FORD SHOULD RECALL THESE ENGINES. MANY AUTO EXPERTS HAVE DISCOVERED THIS ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. LOSS OF LIFE IS POSSIBLY WITH THIS DANGEROUS ENGINE MALFUNCTION AND AN ESTIMATED $7,300.00 ENGINE REPLACEMENT BILL. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ASAP TO AVOID DEATH AND INJURY TO FORD OWNERS. A RECALL COULD SAVE LIVES.
PUSHED ON ACCELERATOR TO PASS.AND THE CAR KEPT ACCELERATING STOMP ON BRAKE AND IT STILL WOULDN'T SLOW DOWN. HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL.ENGINE RPM STAYED AT ABOUT 4500 RPM. TAPPED GAS PEDAL WITH FOOT A FEW TIMES BEFORE ENGINE RPM RETURNED TO NORMAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD A FRACTURED SPRING AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT GROGAN'S TOWNE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (16100 TELEGRAPH RD, TOLEDO, OH 43612, (419) 476-076) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MY 2010 FORD TAURUS SHO DEVELOPED A DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE STEERING INTERMITTENTLY GOES INTO MANUAL MODE WITH NO POWER STEERING WHEN THERE IS A POWER STEERING FAULT. THE FAULT HAPPENS WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE IN MOTION. TURNING IS SEVERELY LIMITED AND CREATES A DANGEROUS CONDITION WHERE TURNING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT WOULD BE VERY DIFFICULT. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2011-2013 FORD TAURUS FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT NOT FOR MY 2010 FORD TAURUS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S FOOT CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME DEPRESSED WHILE THE BRAKES WERE ALSO BEING APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURING DESIGN FAULT AND NOT A DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO MILLINAX FORD NEW SMYRNA BEACH (2317 FL-44, NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL 32168, (386) 428-9094), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. POWER ASSIST STEERING FAULT APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD. AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET AT 7:00 PM MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND MY DASH READ POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I THEN RAN OVER A MEDIAN AND ALMOST PULLED A MUSCLE TRYING TO BRING THE CAR BACK ON TO THE ROAD. I CALLED THE FORD COMPANY AND THE REP STATED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. I THEN TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD SERVICE SHOP AND THEY HAVE ADVISED THAT THIS IS THE SAME EXACT ISSUE THAT WAS RECALLED. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM WITHOUT A CAR WHILE THE REPAIR REMAINS OVER 1500.00.
THE WATER PUMP DAMAGED THE ENGINE ON MY 2010 TAURUS BROUGHT IT TO A FORD DEALER NOW DEALER TOLD ME I NEED A NEW ENGINE WITH A COST OF $5000.00 PLUS LABOR ,WATER PUMP IS INSIDE THE ENGINE .WHEN WATER PUMP GOES IT STARTS LEAKING INTO ENGINE. NEEDING TO ENGINE TO BE REPLACE I THINK THIS STUPID [XXX] DESIGN BY FORD .I WAS DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPEN IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. TAKATA RECALL "STEERING DEFAULT " NO POWER , WHEELS LOCKING, SEPTEMBER HAD TO PULL OF ROAD CAREFULLY TO AVOID ACCIDENT.
DRIVING SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT, EPAS POWER STEERING GOES OUT, CHECK MESSAGE CENTER SHOWS "POWER STEERING FAULT". I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TURNED OFF VEHICLE, RESET THE FAULT, AND RESTARTED THE CAR. THE FAULT HAPPENED AGAIN, UNABLE TO STEER THE CAR BECAUSE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING 25 MPH AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WENT OUT, AND LUCKILY I MANAGED NOT TO HIT THE CURB ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET BECAUSE I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES. THIS IS THE SAME STEERING SYSTEM THAT IS IN 2011 AND NEWER CARS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THIS YEAR NEEDS TO ALSO BE INCLUDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. IN ADDITION, THE TRACTION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS AND THE AD SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
I HAVE A 2010 TAURUS SHO THAT HAS THE ECO ENGINE THAT I BOUGHT 7 MONTHS AGO AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE UNTIL I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND I LOOK AT THE DASHAFTER SOMETHING POPS UP ON THE DISPLAY UNDER THE MPH GAUGE AND IT SAYS THAT I HAVE TO SERVICE POWERSTEERING SO I PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF IT RESET AND TO MY SURPRISE WHEN I START THE VEHICLE IT SAYS SERVICE POWERSTEERING NOW SONOW MY STEERING WHEEL IS COMPLETELY UN ASSISTED BY THE THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SO THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALMOST LOCKED I STRUGGLED TO MAKE IT HOME AROUND TURN ALMOST CRASHING INTO RAILS AND I HAD TO DRIVE SLOWER THAN THE 18 WHEELERS ON THE FREEWAY THE WORST PART WAS THAT I WAS WITH MY FAMILY WE WERE ALL TERRIFIED AS I WAS STRUGGLING TO STEER WITH ALL MY STRENGTH TO MAKE IT HOME SAFE . AFTER WE BARELY MADE IT HOME I JUST TOOK IT TO GET THE CODE TURNED OFF AT A MECHANIC SHOP WICH WAS VERY SIMPLE , BUT GUESS WHAT IT CAME BACK EVERYTIME I GOT ON THE FREEWAY WICH IS NOT SAFE .THIS VEHICLE IS JUST SITTING IN MY GARAGE AS IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN WITH SUCH PROBLEM . THIS IS A REALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ASAP BEFORE ANYONE GETS HURT .
THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING NOW" LIGHT IS ON THE DASHBOARD, AND THE POWER STEERING DOES NOT WORK. THE DEALER USED THE DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER, WHICH SHOWS THE STEERING GEAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THEY WERE ABLE TO RESET THE CODE, AND POWER STEERING WAS WORKING JUST FINE. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" LIGHT IS BACK ON. POWER STEERING STILL WORKS. *TR
PTU- POWER TRAIN UNIT TRANSMISSION "CATCHES" WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED CAUSING THE CAR TO HESITATE. FEELS AS THOUGH THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND CAUSE A REAR END TYPE OF ACCIDENT. NOT ONLY COULD THIS CAUSE A BAD ACCIDENT , YET JEPORDIZE MANY LIVES. IT'S UNSAFE AND CAUSE SERIOUS HEALTH RISKS. BURNING OIL FUMES SEEP INTO THE VEHICLE. ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN / PUT RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. ACTION IS NEED . THIS ISSUE ALSO ALLOWS THE CAR TO MALFUNCTION IN SO MANY WAYS . AS I WAS DRIVING WITH MY SEAT HEATER ON, I SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING AND FELT A HOT SPOT ON MY BUTT. WHEN I LOOKED AT MY SEAT LATER, I NOTICED A HOLE BURNED THROUGH MY SEAT. TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP. THEY DID A PINPOINT TEST, V12 NO. THE DRIVERS SEAT CUSHION HEATER MAT NEEDS REPLACING. FORD OFFERS NO ASSISTANCE IN PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS. UNABLE TO USE WITH OUT IT BURNING THE SEAT AND DRIVER.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED, ALMOST LOCKING UP STEERING WHILE STATIONERY. VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AS TOO MANY FORCE IS NEEDED TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS IS THE INFAMOUS ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM (EPAS) ON MANY RECENT FORDS THAT ARE FAILING LEFT AND RIGHT. THE SYSTEM REPLACEMENT PART IS ABOUT $1,300 (THE WHOLE THING NEW, AS IT CAN NOT BE REPAIRED) + $700 LABOR = A $2,000+ REPAIR. FORD HAS DECIDED TO RECALL SOME VEHICLES (2011 AND NEWER) BUT OTHERS NOT (2010 OR EARLIER), LEAVING OWNERS LIKE MYSELF STRANDED, AS THESE EPAS USUALLY FAIL AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRES. I OWN A 2010 TAURUS SHO, ON THESE PARTICULAR 2010 AND EARLIER SYSTEMS, WHICH APPEAR TO BE AN EARLIER GENERATION, WHEN THE EPAS FAILS, STEERING BECOMES HARD AS A ROCK, YOU SIMPLY CAN NOT DRIVE THE CAR. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING IF IT HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING. UNFORTUNATELY, FORD HAS BEEN HIDING, AND EVEN THEY HAVE BEEN INVESTIGATED, THEY CLAIM THAT EVEN WHEN THE EPAS FAILS, YOU STILL SHOULD BE ABLE TO STEER YOUR CAR AND BE ABLE TO DRIVE IT WITH JUST A LITTLE MORE EFFORT. THIS IS HALF TRUE. MY FUEL RAIL KEEPS HAVING LOW FUEL PRESSURE STARTING I'VE HAD IT REPLACED NEW SPARK PLUGS NEW COILS TUNE UP AND NOW I'M BEING TOLD IT'S MY FUEL INJECTORS APPARENTLY THERE ARE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE FUEL INJECTORS I LOVE MY CAR BUT THIS HAS COST ME NEAR 1500$ I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO SEEING AS HOW NEW INJECTORS ARE GONNA COST 1300.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
ON 4 OCCASIONS OVER A 2 MONTH PERIOD MY TAURUS FAILED TO ACCELERATE IMMEDIATELY DUE TO WHAT HAD APPEARED TO BE THE TRACTION CONTROL POWERING DOWN THE MOTOR, MINUS ANY FLASHING LIGHTS ETC. I WOULD PULL UP TO A STOP SIGN, AND ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE AND I WOULD LOSE ALL POWER FOR APPROX 2 SECONDS AND THEN MY CAR WOULD SLAM INTO GEAR AND TAKE OFF (ALWAYS ON DRY CLEAN PAVEMENT). I AT FIRST DISMISSED THIS ISSUE TO BEING A SENSOR GOING BAD FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. I LATER FOUND THAT DURING THAT TIME SAME PERIOD THE SPEED CONTROL WOULD INTERMITTENTLY STOP WORKING AT VARIOUS PLACES AND TIMES ON STRAIGHTAWAYS OR TURNS WITHOUT REGARD TO WHAT SPEED IT WAS SET AT, HOWEVER THIS DID NOT HAPPEN TO MYSELF BUT A RELATION WHO WAS BORROWING MY CAR ON OCCASION. THE LATEST ISSUE WAS WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PULL AWAY FROM A STOP LIGHT 4 NIGHTS AGO AND IT FELT LIKE EITHER MY CAR WAS IN MUCH TOO HIGH OF A GEAR, OR IF I HAD BEEN DRIVING A MANUAL TRANSMISSION I WOULD HAVE SWORN THAT THE CLUTCH HAD GONE BAD AND WAS SLIPPING HORRIBLY. I RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR AND PLACED THE CAR INTO MANUAL SHIFT WHILE COASTING UNDER 5MPH. MY TAURUS LURCHED AND SLAMMED INTO FIRST AND THEN WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE I PLACED IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND IT SHIFTED FINE ON ITS OWN. I'M HEADED TO THE DEALER LATER THIS WEEK AND AM HOPING TO HAVE THIS ISSUE RESOLVED QUICKLY AND EASILY AFTER HAVING FOUND THE SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS ISSUE ON HERE. I STILL DON'T GET WHY THIS ISN'T A RECALL WHEN SO MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD AN ISSUE, THANKFULLY I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND I'M COVERED, OH AND MY TAURUS HAS UNDER 47,000 MILES ON IT SO IT'S NOT LIKE I'VE GOT A ZILLION MILES AND THIS ISSUE POPPED UP, UGH. MY 2010 HAS HAD SEVERAL DRIVE TRAIN ISSUES. THE TRANS HAS BEEN FIXED A FEW TIMES WHICH TOOK MANY RETURNS TO THE DEALER BEFORE FINDING THE ISSUE. AFTER THAT AT TIMES THE CAR ACCELERATES ON IT'S OWN FROM A STOP. IT'S DONE ABOUT 7-9 TIMES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT CAR AND THEY CAN NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. 3-4 TIMES IT TOOK ME IN TO AN INTERCHANGE LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING UNTIL YESTERDAY. I LEFT A RESTAURANT AND MOVED THE CAR ABOUT 20 YARDS CAME TO A STOP AND IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ONLY LESS THAN 10 FEET FROM THE ROAD. I FELT IT STARTING TO ACCELERATE AND PUSHED DOWN HARDER ON THE BRAKES BUT CAR SURGED IN TO ROAD AND COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER CAR. I KNOW I'LL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH FORD ON THIS...PLUS MY INSURANCE COST WILL SKY ROCKET AS WELL. I NEED HELP!!

THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE CONTACT OPEN THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT IT WAS LEAKING COOLANT AT THE WATER PUMP. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED HOME AND THEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
OPERATING CAR IN NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK AND ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE. CAR CONTINUED TO OPERATE AT 60 MPH. CAR WAS DRIVEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES WITHIN ONE YEAR; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE OVERHEATING DISPLAY CAME ON AND THE ENGINE LOST MOST OF ITS POWER. UPON ISPECTION THE RADIATOR COOLANT TANK WAS EMPTY. FILLED THE TANK WITH WATER AND DROVE TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALER. THE DEALER SAID THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND LEAKED THE COOLANT INTO THE CRANKCASE. NO LEAKS WERE VISABLE OUTSIDE THE ENGINE. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE ENGINE GOT TO HOT AND THERE IS EXHAUST GASES IN THE COOLANT AND SUGGESTS A NEW ENGINE BECAUSE OF THE 150K MILEAGE ON THE ENGINE. THE IMPORTANT PART OF THIS IS THAT THIS IS A VERY POOR DESIGN BY THE ENGINE MANUFACTURER. I AM A MECHANIC/SUPERVISOR FOR A COMPANY THAT HAS BEEN USING THE FORD TAURUS AS IT'S VEHICLE OF CHOICE FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS. THIS FAILURE HAS HAPPENED TO TAURUS' IN OUR FLEET FOUR OTHER TIMES IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS WITH CATASTROPHIC FAILURE BEING THE OUTCOME. THE VEHICLES WERE 2010-2012 WITH 100K -150K MILES.BECAUSE THERE IS NO OUTSIDE LEAK AND THE LEAK IS SLOW SO THAT THE COOLANT DEGRADES THE OIL AND INTERNALLY DAMAGES THE ENGINE BEFORE A LOSS OF COOLANT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT. THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE WITH ALL BUT ONE OF OUR VEHICLE FAILURES. A WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT BEFORE 100K MILES SHOULD BE RECOMMENDED BY FORD AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE BY FORD SHOULD BE OFFERED IS A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE OCCURS BECAUSE OF THIS MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.

WAS INSPECTING THE UNDERSIDE OF MY 2010 TAURUS SHO. THE LH TURBO (FRONT TURBO) SEEMS TO BE COVERED IN OIL. TALKING WITH MY MECHANIC THIS CAN CREATE A FIRE HAZARD. THE FLASH POINT OF 5W-30 IS 435^C. DURING NORMAL ENGINE OPERATION EXHAUST TEMPERATURE CAN GET TO AND EXCEED 700^C. THE EXHAUST IS ONLY A FEW INCHES FROM WHERE THE OIL RETURN LINE GOES BACK INTO THE RESERVOIR. THERE WAS A TSB FOR THE ISSUES BUT SOME OWNERS SAY THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HOW CAN OWNERS BE EXPECTED TO PAY FOR INSTALLING AN UPDATED DESIGN WHEN ITS NOT THEIR FAULT? ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO SOMTHING THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE? I HAVE BEEN DOING SOME RESEARCH AND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED ISSUES WITH THE GASKET ON THE OIL RETURN LINE. MY SON WAS DRIVING THIS CAR WHEN IT STARTED TO MAKE NOISE AND SMOKE ABOUT 10 MINUTES FROM OUR HOUSE. HE WAS DRIVING ON STREETS, NOT HIGHWAY. HE PULLED OVER. WE CALLED OUR MECHANIC AND HE ADVISED US NOT TO DRIVE IT AND GET IT TOWED. UPON HIS INSPECTION, HE SAW 2 HOLES IN THE ENGINE THAT LOOKED LIKE SOMETHING SHOT OUT OF IT. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC SAID HE NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE THIS AND THAT IT MUST BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. WE TOOK PICTURES OF IT. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD, THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED A FEW MONTHS EARLIER. WE HAD TO PAY FOR A NEW ENGINE.
02/09/2016. I WAS STATIONARY AT A STOP LIGHT. I LOST ALL ELECTRICAL POWER.I LOST ALL POWER STEERING FUNCTIONS. THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE SAID TO PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK. THESE INSTRUCTIONS WOULD HAVE IMMEDIATELY DAMAGED THE TRANSMISSION. YOU CAN RESTART THE PUSH BUTTON START IN NEUTRAL ONLY BY USING THE BRAKE PEDAL FIRST. HAD I BEEN IN ANY TYPE OF TRAFFIC, A REAR END COLLISION COULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS INSPECTED AT A FORD DEALER TODAY ( 02/11/2016). THE REMEDY WAS TO CHANGE A RFA MODULE RELATED TO THE KEY FOBS. THE THEORY IS THIS : NO KEY RECOGNITION MEANS THE COMPUTER IS TELLING THE CAR TO SHUT DOWN. THE FORD DEALER CAN'T EXPLAIN WHILE THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT : ( I DRIVE WITH THE SAME KEY FOBS AT ALL TIMES). THIS IS PROBABLY NOT THE SOLUTION. I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH BRAKE AND TRANSMISSION PASSES THE CHANGES AND GIVES A HIT. OIL IN PTU UNIT ON AWD 2010 FORD TAURUS SHO VEHICLE GETS OVERWORKED AND OVER EXPANDS AND LEAKS OUT OF THE TOP OF THE VENT CAP. THE OIL DRIPS DOWN ONTO THE EXHAUST AND BURNS OFF. THE BURNING OIL FUMES ARE THEN SUCKED INTO THE CABIN VIA THE HVAC SYSTEM. THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP THE FUMES FROM ENTERING THE VEHICLE CABIN IS TO HAVE THE HVAC ON RECIRCULATE. FORD CLAIMS THAT THE PTU HAS A LIFETIME OIL IN IT AND THAT IT SHOULD ONLY BE REPLACED IF CONTAMINATED. MANY CONSUMERS ARE REPORTING THAT THEY ARE PUMPING THE OIL OUT AND REPLACING IT WITH FRESH OIL IN 25K TO 35K INTERVALS. MY VEHICLE HAS 100,000 MILES ON IT AND 1 PTU WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS ISSUE AND THE REPLACEMENT PTU IS EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUES AS BEFORE WHEN THE 1ST PTU FAILED. THE INHALATION HAZARD OF BURNING OIL FUMES NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER AS IT POSES A SERIOUS HEALTH RISK TO OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE.
I HAVE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH MY TAURUS FOR THREE YEARS BEGINNING WITH THE BAD BRAKE SYSTEM, LEAKING MOON ROOF, AND NOW THE TROTTAL SENSOR PERFORMANCE SYSTEM. WHEN BRAKING, THE BRAKE PEDAL ALMOST GOES TO THE FLOOR BEFORE THE BRAKES ENGAGE. BRAKING PERFORMANCE IS GREATLY DIMINISHED, POTENTIALLY LEADING TO A CRASH. A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM TO A FAILURE ON THE HYDRAULIC SIDE OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING (ABS) MODULE. THE ABS MODULE IS ON BACKORDER AT THE DEALERSHIP AND PARTS SUPPLIER, POSSIBLY INDICATING AN EMERGENT ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT RESPONDED TO ADEQUATELY.
MY CAR IS EQUIPPED WITH A REAR POWERED SUN SCREEN. I HAVEN'T USED THIS FEATURE IN 5 YEARS AND SUDDENLY IT POPS UP ABOUT 3/4 WAY UP. SINCE IT IS ONLY PARTIALLY EXTENDED, THE SIDE BRACKETS AND TOP BAR OF THE SUN SCREEN ARE REDUCING MY VISIBILITY OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW. THE SUN SCREEN IS SUPPOSED TO RETRACT WHEN THE CAR IS IN REVERSE. IT WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF THE REAR WINDOW AT NIGHT WITH SUN SCREEN EXTENTED 3/4 WAY UP. I BELIEVE THIS A SAFETY DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE NO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE CAR MANUAL TO RETRACT THE SUN SCREEN MANUALLY WHEN THE SUN SCREEN FAILED IN THE EXTENTED OR PARTIALLY EXTENTED POSITION.

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SECOND HANDLE FOR MONTHS DUE TO THE PART BEING ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER FOR SEVERAL MONTHS AND WAS UNABLE TO GET THE SECOND HANDLE. THE DEALER DID NOT GIVE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE REQUIRED THE RECALL REMEDY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. AFTER CONTACTING MULTIPLE DEALERS AND THE MANUFACTURER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ON. POOR CONTROL ON SNOWY ROADS. *JS
THE RIM TO MY 2010 WAS BENT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE LAST FOUR MONTHS. THE FIRST TIME I HAD TO GO TO THE DEALER AND GET A NEW RIM WHICH WAS $860. THE FIRST TIME MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A MICHIGAN ROAD AND TIRE LOST PRESSURE. WHEN SHE STOPPED SHE NOTICED A LEAK AND THE RIM WAS BENT. SHE MUST HAVE HIT A POT HOLE BUT THERE WAS NO NOTICEABLE JARRING OF THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND TIME WAS JUST THIS PAST WEEKEND. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THERE WAS A SMALL CHUNK OF CONCRETE THAT I COULD NOT AVOID. IT WAS NOTHING THAT WAS HUGE BUT BIGGER THAN A NORMAL ROCK AND BIG ENOUGH TO NOTICE WHILE APPROACHING IT AT 70 MPH. WHEN I HIT THIS CONCRETE THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR INSTANTLY WHEN OFF. I PULLED OVER AND NOTICED THAT THE RIM WAS BENT AGAIN. THERE IS NO REASON THAT TWO RIMS SHOULD HAVE BENT FROM NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP GETTING NEW RIMS AND TIRES AND I HAVE HAD THE CAR LESS THAN A YEAR. I WANTED TO LET OTHER DRIVERS KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE SO THEY ARE NOT IN THE SAME BOAT AS ME. *TR
