THE CAR WILL NOT START. THIS HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS. IT IS TOTALLY RANDOM. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT IS COLD OR HOT. THERE IS NO CONNECTION BETWEEN HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN OR HOW LONG IT HAS SAT PARKED. FOR EXAMPLE: YESTERDAY, THE CAR WAS PARKED FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. I WENT TO START IT AND NOTHING. AFTER 15 MIN, IT STARTED. I THEN WENT TO ANOTHER STORE THAT WAS MAYBE FIVE MIN AWAY. THE CAR WAS PARKED NO LONGER THAN 10 MIN . WHEN I GOT IN THE CAR TO LEAVE IT WOULD NOT START. IT STARTED 60 MIN LATER. THE SHORTEST AMOUNT OF TIME I HAVE WAITED FOR IT TO START IS 10 MIN THE LONGEST IS ONE HOUR. WHEN I ATTEMPT TO START IT THERE IS USUALLY NO SOUND. ONCE WHEN I TURNED IT OVER, I HEARD A CLICK, BUT NOTHING. I CANNOT MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT AND THE BRAKES ARE FROZEN. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I CANNOT JUST LEAVE IT AT THE DEALERSHIP INDEFINITELY BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE THE LUXURY OF HAVING ANOTHER CAR AT MY DISPOSAL. THEY WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I AM HESITANT ABOUT GOING ANYPLACE FOR FEAR OF IT NOT STARTING AND HOW LONG I WILL BE SITTING SOMEPLACE WAITING FOR IT TO START. IT ISN'T SAFE. I AM LEAVING FOR THREE WEEKS AND WILL LEAVE IT WITH THE DEALERSHIP THEN, BUT IF THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, I 'M BACK TO SQUARE ONE. I HAVE BEEN ON-LINE AND NO ONE ELSE HAS MADE A COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM WHAT I HAVE READ. *TR
MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY RAN HOT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF AS MY EXIT WAS APPROACHING AND WITHIN 1/2 FOUND A SAFE PLACE TO PARK. THE ENGINE HAD STEAM COMING FROM THE RADIATOR. AFTER CALLING AAA FOR A TOW, IT WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL AAA AND THEN TO THE CLASSIC FORD DEALERSHIP. AS THE CAR ARRIVED ON A FRIDAY, FORD DID NOT CHECK IT UNTIL THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY. I RECEIVED A QUOTE FROM FORD THAT IT NEEDED AN ENTIRELY NEW ENGINE,TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP FOR $7, 400.00! CALLS TO THE CORPORATE FORD DID NO GOOD AS THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THAT FORD COULD DO BUT TO KEEP MY RECEIPTS IN CASE A RECALL WAS EVER ANNOUNCED. I CALLED ANOTHER MECHANIC THAT I HAD USED IN THE PAST AND HE WAS ABLE TO FIX THE ENGINE FOR $1800.00. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE ENGINE DESIGN WAS FAULTY AND THAT IF IT EVER RAN HOT AGAIN, IT WOULD DO THE SAME DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN. *TR
THE SEAT WARMER OVERHEATED AND BURNED THROUGH THE LEATHER SEAT COVER WHILE MY 18 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR TO A DOCTOR APPOINTMENT. SHE VEERED OFF THE EXPRESSWAY (I-75) AND EXITED THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD IT TO A FORD DEALER AND DOCUMENTED THE ISSUE AND HAD THE SEAT COMPLETELY DISCONNECTED FROM THE WIRING SYSTEM. THE CAR IS ONLY 4 YEARS OLD, WE ARE THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. NEVER ANY INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS INCIDENT. WE ARE STILL PAYING ON THE LOAN! THROUGH RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, IT APPEARS THAT THE NHTSA IS ALREADY AWARE OF THE ISSUES WITH THESE HEATED SEAT WARMERS WITH SEVERAL MANUFACTURERS, YET THERE IS NO RECALL AND THE SAFETY ISSUE HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED AT ALL?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO A DEER. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED BUT AFTER RESEARHING THE VIN I FOUND THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE SAME ISSUES I AM HAVING. THE CAR WHILE DRIVING WILL LOSE POWER AND THE TACH WILL SHOW A RPM DROP IN SOME CASES OF ALMOST 1000 RPM. THE CAR WILL LOSE POWER AND AT TIMES AND THE TACH WILL SHOW THE RPM JUMPING ALL OVER THE PLACE LIKE THE COMPUTER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. ONCE I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PUT IT BACK THE CAR WILL START TO ACT OK BUT AT TIMES I WILL HEAR A CLUNK FROM THE UNDER THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION GOING INTO GEAR. THESE ISSUES OCCUR AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, FROM CITY DRIVING TO HIGHWAY. FORD DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ABLE TO FIX THIS AS WELL AS CARMAX.
ON OR AROUND 10/14/2014 MY FORD TAURUS SHO 2010 SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTED TO SHAKE AND MISSFIRE. HAD IT TOWED TO FORD GRIFFIN. THEY STATED IT WAS A BAD INJECTOR. ON OR AROUND 4/27/2015 HEADING HOME FROM WORK I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY ON TO HWY 164 IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND STARTED TO SHAKE AND MISSFIRE ALMOST CAUSING ME TO GET HIT FROM THE CARS BEHIND ME, LUCKILY THEY SWERVED ON TO SHOULDER TO AVOID HITTING ME. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO GRIFFIN FORD. AGAIN IT WAS A BAD INJECTOR, CYLINDER #6 THE FIRST TIME NOW #4. THEN ON OR AROUND 8/15/2015 COMING HOME FROM THE STORE THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER, STARTED SHAKING AND MISSFIRE. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO GRIFFIN AGAIN. IT WAS ANOTHER BAD INJECTOR #2 CYLINDER. THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIX IT UNTIL THEY FOUND THE CAUSE. THEY LOOKED IN THE GAS TANK FOR CONTAMINANTS AND FOUND NOTHING. THEN TESTED FOR ALCOHOL LEVELS IN GAS FOUND NOTHING RAN SOME OTHER TEST FOUND NOTHING. FINALLY JUST FIXED IT. SO WHATS GOING ON? I'M SOMEWHAT AFRAID OF DRIVING THE CAR FOR FEAR OF CAUSING A ACCIDENT. IT'S MY ONLY CAR SO I GUESS I HAVE NO CHOICE.

WHEN DRIVING CAR THE LEFT REAR BRAKE WOULD MAKE A HIGH PITCH NOISE UPON STOPPING AND THE BRAKE WOULD LOCK ON MOMENTARILY. HAD BRAKES CHECKED FOR PROBLEM AND WAS TOLD THE PADS AND ROTORS WERE IN GOOD SHAPE AND DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR OR GLAZING. THE SERVICE TECH SAID THE CALIPERS TESTED GOOD AS WELL. UPON DRIVING THE CAR ON ANOTHER NIGHT FOR ABOUT 10 MILES, THE BRAKES ACTED UP AGAIN AND I WALKED AROUND FOR A VISUAL CHECK. NOTICED THE LEFT REAR (DRIVERS SIDE) ROTOR WAS GLOWING RED HOT SO I SNAPPED A PICTURE OF IT WITH MY CELL PHONE. THE NEXT DAY WE SCHEDULED A SERVICE AT OUR LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND I WAS ABLE TO SHOW THEM MY PICTURE. THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO ORDER A NEW CALIPER AND REAR BRAKE PADS AND WOULD CALL WHEN THEY ARRIVED. WE FOUND OUT THAT THESE ITEMS ARE ON BACK ORDER FROM FORD. MEANWHILE, NO CAR WAS MADE AVAILABLE FOR US TO DRIVE UNTIL THE REPAIRS CAN BE MADE SO WE ARE STILL DRIVING THE CAR. MY WIFE NEEDS TO TAKE A BUSINESS TRIP (400 MILES EACH WAY) AND WE ARE NOT SURE IF THIS CAR IS SAFE. WE ARE ASSUMING THAT FORM MOTOR COMPANY FEELS IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR SINCE A LOANER WAS NOT OFFERED TO US. THE BRAKE ROTOR GETS GLOWING RED HOT AND ACTUALLY ILLUMINATES OUR DRIVEWAY AT NIGHT WHEN WE RETURN FROM A TRIP INTO TOWN, WHICH IS ONLY 4 MILES AWAY. WE ARE PARTICULARLY WORRIED ABOUT FUELING THE CAR UP AT A GAS STATION WITH RED HOT STEEL GLOWING AROUND GAS FUMES. THE HEAT IS SO INTENSE THAT YOU CAN FEEL IT FROM 5 FEET AWAY. AFTER READING MANY DIFFERENT BRAKE COMPLAINTS I DISCOVERED THAT FORD CANNOT KEEP UP WITH BRAKE PARTS WHICH ARE REGULARLY ON BACK ORDER. NOT REALLY SURE WHY THE NHTSA HAS NOT FLAGGED THIS ISSUE YET FOR A SAFETY HAZARD. HOWEVER, WE WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE AND HOPE THAT FORD IS CONFIDENT THAT IT IS STILL SAFE TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME. *TR
I PULLED UP TO MY DAUGHTERS HOUSE, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. I KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND CROSSED BACK IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE AT WHICH TIME IT DROVE FORWARD ALMOST HITTING ME THEN HITTING THE HOUSE. THE SHIFTER WAS STILL IN PARK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY NEAR DEARBORN, MI, MY 2010 FORD TAURUS BEGAN TO INCREASE IN SPEED ON ITS ON. THE LAST TIME I LOOKED AT IT BEFORE I CRASHED, THE ODOMETER WAS AT ABOUT 80 MILES PER HOUR. I COULD NOT STOP THE CAR BY PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. I WAS GETTING CLOSE TO OTHER CARES, SO I TURNED TO THE RIGHT TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR, SO I HIT THE GUARD RAIL AND THE CAR ROLLED OVER. THANKFULLY, I WAS NOT HURT AND NO ONE ELSE WAS EITHER. MY CAR, OF COURSE, WAS TOTALLED AND BASED ON MICHIGAN LAW, I ALSO RECEIVED A TICKET.

I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT STARTED SURGEON. THEN THE NEXT DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING IT IN TOWN STARTED DRIVING ERRATICALLY AND I THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO DIE. I TALKED TO FORD ABOUT IT AND THEY SAID THAT THE ESCAPE AND THE FUSION WERE BOTH RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THE THROTTLE BODY IT'S THE ISSUE. *TR
AFTER REVERSING OUT OF SPARKING SPOT IN A SHOPPING CENTER I PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN ACCELERATING AT FULL SPEED. I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES BUT THE CAR SPEED KEPT INCREASING. I PUT THE SHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE SEEMED LIKE IT WAS GOING TO BLOW UP. I PUT THE CAR BACK IN DRIVE TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE. AFTER APPROX TWO (2) SECONDS THE ENGINE SPEED RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE SPEED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR STOPPED. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR TO GERMAIN FORD AT 7250 SAWMILL ROAD, COLUMBUS OHIO. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 HOURS BUT COULD NOT FIND ANY STORED FAULTS IN THE ONBOARD COMPUTER/DIAGNOSTICS SYSTEM AND WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM. *TR

AS I WAS DRIVING I HEARD SOMETHING IN MY FRONT PASSAGER SIDE DOOR BREAK AND STARED SQUEAKING.

THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE UPON TURNING ON THE TEMPERATURE CONTROLS FOR A/C OR HEATING AND HEARD A CLICKING NOISE UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE A/C CONTROL WAS TURNED ON AND THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT A MOMENT AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
OPENED MY SUNROOF AND IT BROKE. IT GOT STUCK OPEN AND WE HAD TO TAKE IT APART TO GET IT CLOSED. NOW I HAVE TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED WHEN IT WAS PLASTIC PIECES THAT BROKE. HAD A STORM COME THROUGH AND THE INSIDE OF MY CAR WAS FLOODED. I HAVE RECORD OF EVERYTHING. SEEMS THAT IF WATER GETS ON THE ELECTRICAL PARTS IT WILL START SHORTING EVERYTHING OUT CAUSING THE CAR TO CATCH FIRE.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE HYDRAULIC CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND WOULD BE REPLACED ONCE THE PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER UNTIL FURTHER REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED FLOOD FORD AT 401-884-4000 AND WAS INFORMED TO ONLY BRING IN THE VEHICLE ONCE THE FAILURE OCCURRED AND TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS A TECHNICAL ISSUE AND TO CONTACT THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000
AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30PM, EST, ON 11/23/2013, AT A PARKING LOT AT THE INTERSECTION OF ROUTE 59 AND FRANKLIN TPK., IN SUFFERN, NY, THE VEHICLE ENGAGED IN AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WHILE THE BRAKE WAS BEING APPLIED TO BRING THE CAR TO A FULL STOP. I,[XXX], THE DRIVER, FORCED DOWN THE BRAKE PEDAL TO HALT THE VEHICLE, PLACED THE SHIFT LEVER IN NEUTRAL, AND DEPRESSED THE IGNITION BUTTON TO STOP THE RACING ENGINE. IT STARTED TO RAIN AND WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS DID NOT WORK. LUCKILY I WAS NEAR HOME AND ABLE TO RETURN SAFELY ALTHOUGH IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS TIME FOR A FEW MILES. THE DIRECTIONALS AND BRIGHT LIGHT SWITCH IS FINE ON THE STICK BUT NOT THE WIPERS OR WASHER. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER WANTS $113 TO TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG - HE SAYS THE TECH NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR TURNING THE COMPUTER ON. AFTER THAT PAYMENT I WOULD KNOW WHAT IT WOULD COST TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE TAURUS IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND IT MIGHT BE AS HIGH AS $500. HE MADE NO SUGGESTION OF STARTING TO CHECK FOR A FUSE OR RELAY PROBLEM - SO I GUESS IF IT WAS THE FUSE THAT WOULD COST ME $113 BECAUSE I WAS ASKED TO SIGN FOR THE $113 FEE, NO MATTER WHAT - A BASE FEE TO LOOK AT A FORD OUT OF WARRANTY. INSTEAD I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND LOST ALL POWER (INCLUDING POWER STEERING). THE DOORS ALSO LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY. SHE WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY. THE CAR STARTED NORMALLY A FEW MINUTES LATER AND SHE DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO A FORD DEALERSHIP IN HACKETSTOWN NJ. THEY MADE SOME (IN RETROSPECT QUESTIONABLE) REPAIRS, REPLACING THE BATTERY AND THE FUEL PUMP. WHEN THE CAR WAS PICKED UP IT STALLED AGAIN LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO SAID THE FUEL PUMP WAS IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AND FIXED IT. THE CAR RAN FINE FOR ANOTHER FEW MONTHS, BUT STALLED AGAIN, IN THE EXACT SAME MANNER, GOING ABOUT 50 MILES PER HOUR. ONCE AGAIN, AFTER SAFELY NAVIGATING TO THE SHOULDER THE CAR ENGINE STARTED WITHOUT ISSUE. THIS TIME WE TOOK THE CAR TO MANHATTAN FORD AND CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE. FORD CUSTOMER CARE DID NOT CONCEDE ANY ISSUES WITH THE MODEL, AND USED THE SOMEWHAT CIRCULAR REASONING THAT IF THERE WERE A PROBLEM THE MODEL THEN THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL, AND BECAUSE THERE WAS NO RECALL, THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. FOR THEIR PART, THE MANHATTAN FORD DEALERSHIP SEEMED TO HAVE A GOOD GRASP OF THE SITUATION AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE DEALERSHIP EVEN DISCOUNTED THE REPAIR AFTER FORD REFUSED TO COVER IT UNDER THE ENGINE/POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. TWO DAYS BEFORE THE INCIDENT, THE STEERING ON THE CAR STARTED MAKING A NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BEING TURNED, SIMILAR TO SOMETHING RUBBING. WE VISUALLY CHECKED AND SAW NOTHING HUNG UP UNDER THE CAR. THE SYSTEM ON THIS CAR IS AN ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, SO THERE WAS NO FLUID TO CHECK EITHER. OTHER THAN THE NOISE, THE STEERING SEEMED NORMAL EXCEPT FOR WITH THE STEERING WHEEL CENTERED, THERE FELT LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS IN A SMALL DETENT. IT WOULD TAKE JUST A LITTLE EXTRA AMOUNT OF PRESSURE INITIALLY TO TURN THE WHEEL. HOWEVER ON THE 6TH, I WENT TO BACK THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN, LITERALLY NOT TURN WITH ME PULLING AS HARD AS I COULD. AFTER ABOUT A MINUTE OF NO LUCK, I PULLED THE CAR STRAIGHT BACK INTO THE GARAGE. AT THIS POINT THE STEERING STARTED WORKING SOMEWHAT, I WOULD TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HARD TURN AND THE TIRE WAS ONLY MOVING, MAYBE A 1/6TH OF A "NORMAL". AFTER ANOTHER MINUTE OR SO, IT STARTED ACTING LIKE IT DID INITIALLY, NORMAL TURN WITH THE NOISE. IF THE NO TURN OR 1/6ISH OF A TURN INCIDENTS WHAT HAVE OCCURRED ON A ROAD, THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AND ACCIDENT, UNQUESTIONABLY. THERE WERE 4 ADULTS WHO ALL WITNESSED THIS INCIDENT. TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE STOPPED & RESTARTED . TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS INCORRECTLY AT TIMES OR HESITATES TO RESPOND WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO INTERSTATE TRAFFIC. FORD SYNC SYSTEM CUT ON & OFF OR DISCONNECTS FROM PHONE WHICH IS LINKED TO 911 FOR SAFETY. BLIND SPOT WARNING SYSTEM GIVES FALSE WARNINGS CONSTANTLY WHEN NO OTHER VEHICLES ARE NEAR & ON VARIOUS ROADS TYPES. AUTOMATIC WIPERS COME ON WHEN ITS NOT RAIN. ADAPTIVE CRUISE WILL NOT MAINTAIN THE PROPER GAPS BETWEEN VEHICLES AHEAD OF IT & DRIVER MUST TAKE CONTROL. DURING FUELING THE FUEL POURS OUT FROM THE OVERFLOW VALVE WHEN THE TANK TOPS OFF AT ANY GAS STATION. DARK QUARTER SIZE SPOT COMING UP IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR WHICH OBSCURES VISION OF OTHER VEHICLES. DUST & DIRT ENTERING THE VEHICLE AROUND THE REAR DOORS WHILE DRIVING. DRIVER'S SIDE HEAD REST SLOWLY RISES UP OVER A FEW DAYS & TOUCHES DRIVER'S HEAD & CANNOT BE SAFELY PUSHED DOWN UNTIL STOPPED. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR STARTED RUNNING REAL CHOPPY AND MISFIRING. I GOT THE CAR TO A SAFE DESTINATION. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO OUR NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT THERE WERE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS, NO PROBLEMS PASSING EMISSIONS, JUST NO SIGNS THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG. THIS IS A 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP. FORD HAS BRAGGED ABOUT THIS ENGINE BEING A PREMIER ENGINE, TOP NOTCH ECO BOOST TURBO CHARGED AND FOR US TO HAVE TO REPLACE IT AFTER TWO YEARS OF DRIVING IS INSANE. WE HAVE VEHICLES OLDER THAN THIS 2010 TAURUS SHO, ONE WITH 100,000(CHEVY 2006), ANOTHER WITH 150, 000(HONDA 2004), AND ANOTHER WITH 60,000(MITSUBISHI 2003) THAT HAVE GIVEN US NO PROBLEMS. FORD HAS NOT LIVED UP TO THEIR CLAIMS ON THIS CAR. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT ONE OF THE CYLINDERS HAD A COMPRESSION OF 0 AND THAT WE NEEDED AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THEY NEVER TOOK THE ENGINE APART, THEY JUST DID A DIAGNOSTIC. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE AT FORD AND COMPLAINED IMMEDIATELY AFTER FINDING OUT THAT WE WERE GOING TO NEED AN ENGINE. THEY QUOTED A PRICE OF $6800 TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.AFTER PROVIDING OUR SERVICE RECORDS, FORD OFFERED TO HELP US WITH SOME OF THE COST BUT WE WERE STILL OUT OF POCKET ALMOST $5000. WARNING TO CONSUMERS, THIS CAR, EVEN THOUGH I LOVED DRIVING IT, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE! WE PAID CLOSE TO $50,000 FOR THIS CAR. I STILL HAD A SQUEAK BUT THE PEDAL WAS NO LONGER GOING TO THE FLOOR. I WAS TOLD A SQUEAK CAN BE NORMAL. LAST WEEK I NOTICED A GRINDING SOUND COMING FROM WHAT APPEARED TO AGAIN BE THE BRAKES. I HAVE 12,000 ADDITIONAL MILES ON THE CAR SINCE FIRST BRINGING IT IN. I AM NOW TOLD THAT THE BACK BRAKES NEED A COMPLETE REPAIR BECAUSE THE CALIPER IS LOCKED AND THE PADS AND ROTORS ARE DESTROYED. I ASKED WHY THIS WASN'T FIXED BEFORE AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT SOMETHING FORD WAS GOING TO COVER BECAUSE IT WAS NOT LOCKED AT THAT TIME. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND A HOST OF OTHERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE AND ALSO FOUND A SERVICE NOTICE (TSB 10-7-2) POSTED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY ADVISING HOW TO REPAIR "REAR BRAKE DRAG OR REAR BRAKE NOISE". THIS BULLETIN WAS ISSUED FOR VEHICLES (INCLUDING THE 2010 FORD TAURUS) BUILD ON OR BEFORE 12/14/2009 AND DISCUSSES REPAIRING CALIPERS AS IS NEEDED IN MY REPAIR. I WAS OUTRAGED THAT THIS PROBLEM WAS OUT THERE BUT THAT THEY DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM BACK IN DECEMBER WHEN I COMPLAINED OF BRAKE ISSUES. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING AT VARYING SPEEDS BETWEEN 15 MPH AND 65 MPH, THE ENGINE WILL LOSE POWER, FOLLOWED BY THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR "D" LIGHT GOING OUT, AND THE ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES, ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE OR REVERSE FUNCTIONS, SUCH AS THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE REAR WINDOW SHADE WILL SHUT DOWN. BASICALLY, AT THE TIME OF THIS POWER LOSS, THE VEHICLE DEFAULT SAFETY FUNCTIONS ENGAGE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WITHIN 30 SECONDS, THE ENGINE REGAINS THRUST AND THE "D" LIGHT COMES BACK ON. FRIEND FOLLOWING IN THE CAR BEHIND ME REPORTED SEEING MY "REVERSE LIGHTS" TURN ON AND STAY ON WHILE I REPORTED THE "D" LIGHT WAS OUT. TOOK TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERSHIPS OVER THE COURSE OF 5 VISITS. ENGINE PERIODICALLY CONTINUES TO DO THIS. ISSUE SEEMS TO BE RESOLVED WHEN ADDITIONAL GAS IS APPLIED AND POWER IS ENGAGED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 FORD TAURUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, A PASSENGER ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE THE RADIO BY PRESSING THE MEDIA BUTTON, WHICH WAS LOCATED NEAR THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT THE PASSENGER ERRONEOUSLY DEPRESSED THE IGNITION SWITCH, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SHOULDER AND STOPPED. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERNS OVER THE TWO BUTTONS BEING LOCATED SO CLOSE TO ONE ANOTHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED THE FRONT BRAKES WOULD MAKE A GRINDING NOISE. I HAD THE FORD DEALER DIAGNOSE AND ACCORDING TO THEM A TSB WAS PUT OUT BY FORD TO REPLACE THE REAR BRAKES. THE REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED AND THE NOISE IS TILL THERE. *TR
THE CD PLAYER WENT OUT IN MY TAURUS LIMITED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER A MONTH FOR THE REPLACEMENT, ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE ENTIRE CENTER STACK (NAV/RADIO/SYNC SYSTEMS) HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF OVER $3000. UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
I HAD TO REPLACE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ON MY 2010 TAURUS LIMITED. IT ONLY HAD 28000 MILES AT TIME OF OCCURRENCE. I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS, AS FORD HAS HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. *TR
THIS IS THE TWIN TURBO V6 ECOBOOST ENGINE. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD SEVERAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES DATING BACK TO AUGUST 2011. FIRST ISSUE: CAR STUMBLED UPON ACCELERATING FROM A DEAD STOP. PARTICULARLY UNSAFE WHEN TURNING INTO TRAFFIC. ONE POTENTIALLY SERIOUS EVENT WAS A RIGHT TURN I MADE FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR CAME TO A CRAWL. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR MORE THAN A WEEK, FORD "FIXED" THE PROBLEM BUT IT RECURRED A MONTH LATER. NEXT INCIDENT(S): TRANSMISSION LUNGES AND CAME OUT OF GEAR AND REVVED UP. AGAIN, FORD HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT 10 DAYS. THAT WAS SEPTEMBER 2011. OCTOBER 18, 2011: CAR LOST POWER ON FREEWAY AND RAN VERY ROUGH. CAR TOWED INTO FORD. THE HAD TO REPLACE COILS, PLUGS, AND PCM. 9/14/2012: SUNROOF FAILED AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. PROBLEM FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. 8/16/2013: DELIVERED THE CAR TO FORD BECAUSE THE TRANSMISSION ACTING UP ONCE AGAIN. THIS TIME WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE CAR STALLS VERY BRIEFLY BUT THEN CATCHES AND ACCELERATES FORWARD QUICKLY. THIS IS A LIABILITY CONCERN. ON THE FREEWAY, WHEN I PRESS THE GAS TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A CAR, THE CAR COASTS BEFORE CATCHING. FORD STILL HAS THE VEHICLE AND IS TELLING ME THAT THEY DON'T SEE AN ISSUE WITH THEIR DRIVE TESTS BUT HAVE A CALL INTO FORD TO SEE HOW TO PROCEED. I'M VERY CONCERNED. *TR
VEHICLE WAS FINE UNTIL 20K MILES. NO NOISE, NO PULLING OR STOPPING ISSUES. WITHOUT WARNING THE GRINDING CAME ON AND THE ROTORS WERE ALREADY COMPLETELY SHOT. *TR
TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY SLIPS UPON ACCELERATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP. TRANSMISSION CLUNKS. CAR LUNGES. LOSES POWER. RPMS INCREASE. THIS WILL LAST FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, THEN CORRECT ITSELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. SINCE THIS HAS STARTED HAPPENING, IT HAS ALSO BEEN NOTED THAT THE CAR CONSISTENTLY DOWNSHIFTS THROUGH ALL GEARS WITH A SLIGHT HESITATION AND JERK. ALSO NOTING A "MISS" WHILE DRIVING. DEALER UNABLE TO RECREATE PROBLEM. REFUSES TO FIX. FEARFUL OF ACCIDENTS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC.
AT LEAST 7 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY THE ENGINE STALLED. I HAVE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND STEP ON THE BRAKE AND PUSH THE START BUTTON AND THE CAR IS BACK TO NORMAL WHEN I SHIFT TO DRIVE. I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE FEAR IS THAT I DO NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL STALL AGAIN. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT OTHER FORD TAURUS OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD HOPE THAT YOU COULD MAKE THE FORD COMPANY RECALL THESE CARS BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT. BEFORE IT STALLED THE PREVIOUS TIME ON SEPT. 2, 2011 AT 38,640 MILES IT DID NOT STALL TILL JULY 5,2012. AT47,405 MILES. THEN IT STALLED YESTERDAY JULY 16, 2012. *TR
