2013 TAURUS W/ 82,000 MI -IN MY DRIVEWAY, I TURNED ON CAR, GOT THE POWER STEERING ASSIST LIGHT, AND NO STEERING CONTROL - DOESN'T TURN EITHER WAY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2013 TAURUS, BUT NOT ON MY VIN. I CALLED FORD 1-866-436-7332, WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND TOLD TO HOLD ON TO REPAIR RECEIPTS IN THE CASE A NEW RECALL IS ISSUED AND MY VIN IS INCLUDED. I'M NOT VERY HOPEFUL I WILL EVER GET REIMBURSED. I HAVEN'T REPAIRED IT YET, BUT WILL HAVE TO SINCE I NEED MY CAR. I'M TERRIFIED OF THE COST TO REPAIR.
I UPDATED THE SYNC SOFTWARE SYSTEM, AND THE "911 ASSIST" AUTOMATIC CRASH NOTIFICATION FEATURE, WAS NO LONGER INCLUDED LIKE IT HAD BEEN FROM THE DAY OF PURCHASE. I FEEL STRONGLY THAT THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE, AND SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED IN THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION IN THE SOFTWARE UPDATE FEATURES NOTES THAT THIS ACN "911 ASSIST" SYSTEM WOULD BE REMOVED PRIOR TO UPGRADE. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE CONFIRMED SYNC 2 MFT VERSION V3.10 DOES NOT INCLUDE 911 ASSIST. IT WAS A FEATURE OF MY CAR FROM THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE UP UNTIL THIS SOFTWARE UPGRADE. OEM AUTO MANUFACTURERS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMOVE SAFETY FEATURES THAT WERE DESIGNED INTO CARS, AND I URGE NHTSA TO ENFORCE "GRANDFATHERING" OF SAFETY FEATURES, EVEN OPTION SAFETY FEATURES, LIKE ACN SYSTEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD TAURUS. WHILE DRIVING OVER 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 2 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY AND PCM WERE FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,951.
JUNE 2 2015 COMPLAINT #15V340000, LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. OUR TAURUS IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING BUT IS NOT IN THE RECALL.
WHILE DRIVING BOTH ON A HIGHWAY ( 55 MPH) AND A TOWN ROAD (25 MPH) THE CAR ENGINE AND THE WHOLE CAR SHUT DOWN AND STALLED OUT. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR BRIEFLY, BOTH TIMES, TO GET HOME. I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BREAK TO MANEUVER OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING OTHER CARS. NOW, AFTER PARKING, THE CAR WILL CRANK BUT WILL NOT START.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OVER 60 MPH, ON OCTOBER 18, 2019 AT APPROXIMATELY 19:30 CALIFORNIA TIME, WRENCH SYMBOL APPEARED, AND I LOST ACCELERATION. THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT, BUT I HAD DIFFICULT TIME TO PULL OVER. DIAGNOSIS SHOWN THAT THROTTLE ACTUATOR A CONTROL SYSTEM ' STUCK OPEN. ON OCTOBER 19, 2019 AT 13:39 CALIFORNIA TIME, I CALLED FORD AND ASKED THEM TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PART AT THE EXPENSE OF THE COMPANY, REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY BECAUSE THIS PART IS SENSITIVE AND RELATED TO PUBLIC SAFETY AND SHOULD NOT BE MALFUNCTIONING UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. FORD REPRESENTATIVE ASKED ME TO GO TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND KEEP THE RECEIPT IN THE HOPE THAT I WILL BE REIMBURSED IN THE FUTURE IF THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENS WITH OTHERS, SO I DID THAT. ON OCTOBER 25 AT 08:44 CALIFORNIA TIME, I CALLED AGAIN FORD COMPANY AND ASKED THEM TO DELIVER MY MESSAGE TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IN ORDER TO TAKE THE APPROPRIATE ACTION. FORD REPRESENTATIVE REPEATED WHAT WAS PREVIOUSLY SAID AND GAVE ME A CASE NUMBER: CAS/24590915. SO FAR, THERE IS NO RESPONSE. I FOUND, THROUGH MY ONLINE BROWSING, THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. I RESPECTIVELY REQUEST YOU TAKE THIS ISSUE IN YOUR CONSIDERATION BEFORE SOMEONE GET HURT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,900.
POWER ASSISTED STEERING FAILS TO WORK. STEERING BECOMES TOO STIFF TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT ABOUT THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE CONTACT CALLED TOMMIE VAUGHN FORD (1201 N SHEPHERD DR, HOUSTON, TX 77008, (832) 648-3596), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO WHAT WAS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V340000 (STEERING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
ON NIGHT OF OCTOBER 8,2019 I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE (2013 TAURUS) AND IT JUST LOST ACCELERATION. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF ROAD DUE LIMITED TRAFFIC AT THAT TIME OF NIGHT. ONCE ON ROADSIDE I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND IT RESTARTED AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE THE SHORT DISTANCE TO MY HOME WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I TOOK VEHICLE TO NEARBY SERVICE CENTER. THEY CHECKED FOR CODES BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP. THEY STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY APPEARED DIRTY AND SUBSTANTIALLY HAD THEM CLEAN IT. ON OCTOBER 10 THIS TIME WHILE TRAVELING ON A HIGH AT APPROXIMATELY 55/60MPH THE VEHICLE JUST DIED AGAIN/ LOSING ALL POWER TO THE ACCELERATOR. HOW AN ACCIDENT DIDN'T OCCUR IS BEYOND ME. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE CENTER AND WHEN VEHICLE WAS STARTED THERE NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ALTHOUGH A SUBSEQUENT CHECK OF CODES THIS TIME REVEALED THROTTLE BODY PROBLEM. UPON RESEARCHING ISSUE THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS WITH VARIED IDEAS (POWERTRAIN SENSOR / THROTTLE BODY) AS TO THE CAUSE OF PROBLEM. BUT WHEN TRAVELING ON A HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY LOSES ACCELERATION AND GOES IN TO CREEP MODE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that she started the vehicle and the steering wheel was locked. The power steering assists warning light is illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed since the power steering was working properly while the vehicle was at the independent mechanic. The contact stated the failure reoccurred upon starting the vehicle. The contact stated with assistance, she was able to forcefully steer the vehicle while driving to the dealer. The vehicle was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the steering gear needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V340000 (Steering). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.
CAR CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START. REPLACE FUEL CONTROL 5 TIMES BUT WHEN REPLACED THIS LAST TIME IT WILL NOT START. IT WOULD DIE IN TRAFFIC AND I WOULD HAVE TO TRY AND GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO GET IT STARTED AGAIN. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND I HAVE NO POWER STEERING. I'M VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS CAR. BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND HAVE TALKED WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY BUT THEY SAY MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. 111,000 MILES. HELP ME PLEASE! FUEL CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT FIRST TIME IN 2017 AND THIS MONTH WHICH IS OCTOBER MAKES 5 TIMES REPLACING IT.
WE WERE RIDING DOWN A MAIN ROAD GOING AT ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR WHEN WE LOST POWER AND THE CAR BEGAN COASTING BUT HAD THE FOOT ON THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, WE PULLED OVER WHEN WE COULD GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, STARTED BACK UP BUT HAPPENED AGAIN SO WE PULLED INTO AN AUTO ZONE AND THEY PUT IT ON MACHINE THAT SHOWED WE HAD VERY LITTLE POWER. WE TOWED IT THE NEXT DAY TO A MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY UNIT. WE WERE ALMOST HIT SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE CAR WAS ACTING.
I TURNED ON THE CAR AND THE WARNING MESSAGE APPEARED. POWER STEERING ASSISTANT ISSUE, I PRESSED OK AND TRIED TO DRIVE BUT HAD NO CONTROL OF STEERING, LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN THIS OCCURRED.
STEERING IS EXTREMELY LOUD AND ROUGH. DURING TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND REQUIRES AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF FORCE TO RETURN TO "NATURAL" POSITION. DUE TO THE STEERING LOCKING, THERE HAS BEEN ONE COLLISION THUS FAR. I HAVE HAD THREE TECHNICIANS LOOK AT MY VEHICLE AND DUE TO THE ISSUES I AM HAVING THEY RECOMMEND THAT I "AVOID USAGE AT ALL COSTS". FORD KNOWS OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS A FIELD SERVICE ACTION (FSA) OPEN BECAUSE OF THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTED STEERING (EPAS) FAILING. THIS IS UNDER FSA NUMBER 15N01. WHEN GOING TO A FORD DEALERSHIP THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THE RECALL COULD NOT BE FULFILLED BECAUSE NO POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) OR EPAS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC) HAS BEEN THROWN. THE MANUFACTURER RECALL 15S18 SUPPLEMENT #2 STATES THAT "THIS SAFETY RECALL INVOLVES REPROGRAMMING THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM), OR REPLACING THE STEERING GEAR ONLY IF THERE IS EVIDENCE THAT CERTAIN DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) EXIST OR WERE PREVIOUSLY SET, BUT ARE NO LONGER PRESENT." THIS WAS AMMENDED FROM THE PREVIOUS SUPPLEMENT.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT & HIT A BARRIER.THE DRIVERS STEERING WHEEL AIRBAG DEPLOYED. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO FORD MECHANIC THEY STATED THE SENSOR RECORDED MY SPEED @6.2.
THIS VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE JUNE 2, 2015 RECALL FOR LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. IT IS DOING THE EXACT THING THAT THE RECALLED ONES DID.
STEERING POWER WENT OUT, STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO PULL OUT OF PARKING LOT AND STEERING GOT REAL HARD. I TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND TURNED BACK ON AND IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. (THIS WAS ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO). TODAY I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND AFTER I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND STARTING THE VEHICLE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN WITH THE STEERING, BUT THIS TIME THE STEER3LIGHT STAYED ON AND IT IS HARD TO TURN.
MY 2013 FORD TAURUS WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. WE TOOK IT TO A DEALER AND THEY COULDN'T FIX IT. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY ON ITS OWN AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS LATER IS DOING IT AGAIN. THE CAR STALLS AND OFTEN STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS PURCHASE BUT NOW WE ARE STUCK .
THE STEERING HAS BEEN GETTING STIFFER AND STIFFER OVER THE LAST YEAR OR SO. THERE HAD BEEN RECALLS ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP BEING FAULTY FOR THE 2013 TAURUS; BUT, MY VEHICLE DID NOT FIT INTO THAT RECALL. MY CAR HAS ONLY 65000 MILES. I THINK THAT MY VEHICLE MAY HAVE BEEN OVERLOOKED IN THAT RECALL. IT IS EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE CAR AND IS GETTING WORSE. DON'T KNOW THE EXACT DATE I STARTED NOTICING IT; THE DATE BELOW IS NOT ACCURATE, BUT, IT HAS BEING GETTING WORSE FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 177,000.

LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. JUNE 2, 2015 REPORT. CAMPAIGN #15V340000. THIS VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL BUT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE ONES IN THE RECALL. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE LAST YEAR.
WHILE DRIVING ON STATE HIGHWAY, MY VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER AND ACCELERATION. MY SPEED WAS BETWEEN 55-65MPH AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT OVERHEATING. THE ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND MAKING NOISES AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE ABOUT ANOTHER MILE BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WHILE SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AT NIGHT WITH MY KIDS, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE AND HAD THE TOOL SYMBOL LIGHT ON. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE, THE ENGINE WOULD SHAKE MORE AND SPUTTER. I LOOKED AT THE ENGINE AND COULD SEE IT SHAKING WITH NO OBVIOUS FLUID LEAKS. AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND SITTING FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE HOME. IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL BUT I WILL BE CONTACTING MY FORD DEALERSHIP IN THE MORNING TO CHECK IT.
STARTED LOSING STEERING CONTROL AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON SO I SLOWED DOWN TO CONTROL VEHICLE. HAD IT TOWED INTO DEALERSHIP. DEALER SAID THE ELECTRONIC CONTROLS TO STEERING WERE LOCKED UP AND HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE PINION AND RACK. DEALER AND FORD CLAIM THERE IS NO RECALL. THE BELOW RECALL INFORMATION FROM THE NHTSA DESCRIBES EXACTLY WHAT WAS WRONG, WAS FIXED BY DEALERSHIP BUT I WAS CHARGED $2,412 TO REPLACE PARTS RATHER THAN DOWNLOAD NEW CODES TO FIX THE ISSUE. SUMMARY FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FORD) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011-2012 FORD FUSION VEHICLES WITHOUT A 3.5L ENGINE AND LINCOLN MKZ HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES, 2011 MERCURY MILAN VEHICLES, 2011-2012 FORD TAURUS, FORD FLEX, LINCOLN MKS, AND LINCOLN MKT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.5L GTDI ENGINE AND 2013 FORD TAURUS, FORD FLEX, LINCOLN MKS, AND LINCOLN MKT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH ANY AVAILABLE ENGINE. THE AFFECTED VEHICLES HAVE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST SYSTEMS THAT MAY SHUT DOWN AS A RESULT OF A STEERING MOTOR SENSOR FAULT. CONSEQUENCE IF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCES A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST, EXTRA STEERING EFFORT WILL BE REQUIRED AT LOWER SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH. REMEDY FORD WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL CHECK THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE (PSCM) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTC). IF DEALERS FIND ANY LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST DTCS, THE STEERING GEAR WILL BE REPLACED, FREE OF CHARGE. 8/31/22 Ford announced a rear view camera recall for foggy cloudy images resulting in a lack of functionality due to poor visibility on select vehicles and production years. That recall needs to be expanded significantly. My 2013 Taurus rear view camera has been foggy/cloudy for years making it unusable and unsafe. The Ford dealership is aware of the issue as it does not seem uncommon to the servicemen but is ridiculously expensive to fix therefore rendering the safety mechanism nonfunctional.
POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS RECALLED FOR THIS EXPENSIVE FAULTY/ POOR ENGINEERING. 2013 TAURUS BUT NOT MY . CALLED FORD THEY DON'T EVEN WANT TO TALK TO YOU. DON'T USE THE CAR ANYMORE. CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND I DON'T SEE HOW FORD WOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE. KNOWN ISSUE THEY JUST PICK AND CHOOSE WHO GETS HELPED. WHEN STARTING CAR THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILURE CODE PROMPTS AND YOU CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR. I'M SURE IT CAN HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. CAR BECOMES TOO HARD TO HANDLE EVEN FOR A MAN , CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE IF IT HAPPEN TO MY WIFE.
VEHICLE LOSES POWER SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING.
WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WILL JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND SHOW A WRENCH LIGHT ON THE DASH. THIS HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES (TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK) ON MY 2013 FORD TAURUS LIMITED. I CAN START THE CAR AGAIN AFTER ABOUT 20 SECONDS BUT THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT THAT HAS MANY COMPLAINTS. I'M LUCKY NO ONE HAS CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF ME. THIS IS MY FIRST AND LAST FORD.

I BELIEVE THAT OUR VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED IN THIS RECALL SINCE THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE PREVIOUS RECALL. .

I STOPPED FOR LUNCH AND WHEN I CAME BACK OUT AND TURNED ON THE CAR THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON.
