2000 FORD WINDSTAR VAN, I THINK WHEN FORD MADE THESE VANS , SO MANY OF THE PART WAS DEFECTS , THAT'S WHY SO MANY RECALLS , THERE ARE 12 RECALLS ON THE VAN AND MORE TO COME, PLEASE RECALLS THE WINDSTAR , NOT JUST PART BUT THE WHOLE CAR BEFORE MORE DEATHS OCCUR , THERE'S SOME THING SEROUS WRONG WITH THIS VAN , WITH ALL THE NOISE UNDER THE FRONT , AND THE STEERING, THE VAN SOME TIMES SMELLS LIKE SOME THING IS BURNING , I CHECK ALL THE FLUIDS AND THE SMELL IS STILL THERE, TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS , THE VAN HAS HAD MORE THEN ONE TRANMISSION THAT I KNOW OF REPLACED, THE DOOR POP OPEN WHILE DRIVING( SIDE SLIDING DOOR) , PLEASE RECALL THE WHOLE VAN, DON'T LET OUR CHILDREN LIVES BE IN DANGER . *TR
FORD REAR AXLE RECALL. FOUND RECALL ABOUT MY VEHICLE 3 MONTHS AFTER REAR AXLE BROKE. HAD AXLE WELDED TOGETHER. IN NOV 2010 AXLE WAS ALLEGEDLY ORDERED IT IS NOW MARCH 2011 AND STILL NO ANSWER AS TO WHEN I AM GETTING NEW AXLE. MARCH OF THIS YEAR AXLE BROKE AGAIN AND HAD TO WELD IT TOGETHER.IT COST ME 450 EVERY TIME TO WELD IT. *TR
WE RECENTLY HAD OUR 2000 FORD WINDSTAR INTO THE DEALER FOR A SUBFRAME RECALL. THE DEALER FOUND A CRACK IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SUBFRAME MOUNT BUT STATED IT WAS UNDER 3MM SO IT WAS NOT CONSIDERED UNSAFE. THEY DEEMED IT SAFE TO DRIVE AND PUT ME BACK ON THE ROAD IN IT, MY CHILDREN'S LIVES ARE AT RISK, THEY REFUSE TO BUY IT BACK OR GIVE ME A LOANER AND STATED I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL HE PARTS COME IN TO FIX IT. PLEASE HELP US FORD IS SCREWING OVER ALL OF US, I HAVE THREE CHILDREN AND I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE IT!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 11V030000 (STRUCTURE: FRAME AND MEMBERS: UNDERBODY SHIELDS) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE SUB FRAME DID NOT EXHIBIT ANY SIGNS OF THE FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS RELEASED TO THE CONTACT AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE ALTHOUGH A CRACK WAS DISCOVERED ON A STRESS POINT OF THE FRAME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CRACK FOUND ON THE CONTACTS FRAME WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE DEALERS WORD AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,540.
MY FORD WINDSTAR HAS A REAR AXLE THAT IS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT, DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE FORD SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE SUB-FRAME WAS COMING APART. FORTUNATELY, I HAD IT IN FOR SERVICE AND IT WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE AN ACCIDENT TOOK PLACE. MANY OTHER WINDSTARS HAVE HAD THE REAR AXLE SNAP IN TWO WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS ABNORMAL SWAYING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE STARTED EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 12V194000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND THE TECHNICIAN NOTICED THAT THE REAR TIRES WERE BENT OUTWARD AND THE SUB FRAME WAS CRACKED. THE BRACKETS AND THE BODY MOUNT ATTACHMENTS FAILED TO SUPPORT THE FRAME AND UNDERBODY OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THE BRACKETS WERE NOT CORRECTLY INSTALLED TO SUPPORT THE FRAME. THE MECHANIC RETAINED THE VEHICLE FOR PARTS AND INDICATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS EXTENSIVE. THE CONTACT NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE A REMEDY BECAUSE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS ALREADY COMPLETED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

FORD CLAIMS RESTITUTION OF VEHICLES CONSIDERED UNSAFE TO BUY BACK VEHICLE AT 150% OF THE KELLEY BLUE BOOK PRIVATE SALE EXCELLENT RATE. FOR MY SEL WINDSTAR THE PRIVATE SALE EXCELLENT RATE IS $4275. 150% OF THE VALUE OF MY CAR IS $6412.50. FORD IS OFFERING A NON-NEGOTIABLE BUYBACK OF $4253. LESS THAN THE KELLY BLUE BOOK VALUE OF MY VEHICLE. FORD SHOULD HONOR THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOT VEHICLE SAFETY ACT, TITLE 49 U.S.C SECTION 13120 CLAIMING AS SUCH (PREMIUM OFFER OF 150% OF AN AVERAGE KELLEY BLUE BOOK FOR MODEL AND TRIM LEVEL AT PRIVATE PARTY, EXCELLENT CONDITION AND 12,000 MILES PER YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR SEL WITH ONLY 125,000 MILES, WHICH IS LESS THAN 12,000 PER YEAR. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT FORD IS NOT HONORING THIS NRMVS ACT AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF CONSUMERS. *TR
MY 2000 FORD WINDSTAR DID NOT PASS SAFETY RECALL 11S16 THEY CALLED ME TO TELL ME IT WAS GROUNDED. THEN THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME I CANNOT RENT A VEHICLE BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE A CREDIT CARD. ALTHOUGH I OFFERED THEM MY DEBIT CARD WHICH THEY SAID WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. I LIVE IN N.H. WHERE INSURANCE IS NOT REQUIRED. SO I DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE BUT I AM NOT REQUIRED TO SINCE I'M OVER 21 YEARS OF AGE AND HAVE A GOOD DRIVING RECORD. I ALSO HAVE LIVED AT MY ADDRESS FOR 9 YEARS WITH THE SAME PHONE NUMBER. SO IT COMES DOWN TO MY CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BUT IF I WANT A CAR TO GET PLACES I NEED TO SINCE, I'M HANDICAPPED ALSO ON A FIXED INCOME. I OWN A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. LAST YEAR THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A RECALL RELATED TO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND ABS ISSUES. THIS YEAR I AM GETTING AN ABS LIGHT ON AND A CODE OF C1185. I WAS TOLD THIS CODE RELATES TO A BAD ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (ECU) FOR THE ABS BRAKE SYSTEM. THIS IS THE SAME PART THAT THE BRAKE FLUID ISSUE WAS SUPPOSED TO CORRECT TO PREVENT VEHICLE FIRES. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE ECU AS PART OF THE RECALL (FREE OF CHARGE). THE ECU IS OVER $600. I AM NOW AT RISK OF FIRE AND MY BRAKING ABILITY HAS BEEN COMPROMISED. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THIS PART AS PART OF THE RECALL. *TR

VEHICLE ONLY HAS 57,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ADD ME TO THE LIST OF PEOPLE WANTING FORD MOTOR CO. TO DO THE RIGHT THING. *TR

INTERMITTENT FAILURE OF ABS SYSTEM. SEEMS TO BE TEMPERATURE RELATED. I HAD CODES READ AND WAS TOLD A NEW ABS ECM MODULE WOULD FIX IT. *TR
ABS LIGHT STILL ON AFTER PREVIOUS 09S09 RECALL WORK DONE. BRAKING DISTANCE SUDDENLY INCREASED. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE IS A REAR AXLE FRACTURE DUE TO CORROSION BUILD UP *TGW THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE REAR AXLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER HAS NOT MADE ANY REPAIRS AS THE PART(S) WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN WITHOUT HER VEHICLE SINCE NOVEMBER 5, 2010. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SUB FRAME WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO SPEAK WITH THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE HOW TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
MY 2000 FORD WINDSTAR HAS BEE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE ABS. OVER THE PAST FEW WEEKS THE BRAKES HAVE OCCASIONALLY MADE A HIGH PITCHED NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE METAL GRINDING TOGETHER. I ALSO HAPPENED TO BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE OTHER DAY AND THE BRAKES DECIDED TO ACTIVATE THEMSELVES WITHOUT ME PRESSING THEM. THE ABS LIGHT ALSO CAME ON THE DASH. I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE FORWARD BECAUSE THIS MADE ME COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I THEN TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNED IT BACK ON. THE LIGHT THEN WENT OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO CONTINUE ON MY WAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE ABS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD DRIVE ABNORMALLY ROUGH AND THAT THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. HE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SUB FRAME WAS FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE ABNORMALLY SOFT AND THERE WAS A DECREASE IN BRAKING POWER. IN ADDITION, THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS INOPERABLE AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY HIS PERSONAL MECHANIC THAT THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH, WHICH WAS ALSO THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH, HAD FAILED AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V399000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). HOWEVER, WHEN CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,520.

HI I OWNED A FORD WINDSTAR 2001 AND HAVING TROUBLE FOR THE PAST MONTHS.. WE TOOK IT TO AUTO SHOP MECHANICS AND GOT TRANSMISSION REBUILT PAID ALMOST $2,000 FOR IT. THEN GOT THAT FIXED THEN I DROVE IT FOR A WHILE THEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE ENGINE QUIT SO I CALLED FOR HELP TOW TRUCK WAS THERE THEN BROUGHT IT TO AUTO MECHANICS TO GET IT FIXED PROBLEM WAS ALTERNATOR GOT THAT FIXED PAID OVER $500.00 .NOW RUNS OKAY .. BUT NOW EVERY TIME I TURN THE VAN ON THE ENGINE LIGHTS ON ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING AND ABS LIGHTS ON THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON TOO.. AND THE SMOKE THAT COMING FROM EXHAUST FROM THE REAR SMOKING SO BAD...I NEED HELP THIS IS COULD BE PART OF A RECALL FOR FORDWINDSTAR.. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER JANUARY 2011 FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V385000 (SUSPENSION: REAR: AXLE: NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR AXLE BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE BRACKET AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING ABNORMALLY LOW TO THE GROUND. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE BRACKET WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE BRACKET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND FILED A CLAIM FOR THE FAILURE BUT PROVIDED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILES WAS 113,027. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER FOR NHTSA RECALL 10V385000, SUSPENSION:REAR:AXLE:NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY AND THE MECHANIC ADVISED HIM THAT THE CORROSION OF THE FRONT SUB FRAME WAS MUCH WORSE THAN THE RECALL. HE ALSO HEARD A POPPING NOISE PREVIOUSLY AND ASKED THE MECHANIC TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 116,000. RIGHT PASSENGER SUBFRAME RUSTED AND REAR ENGINE MOUNT SEPARATED FROM FRAME DUE TO RUST--NO LONGER ABLE TO BOLT NEW MOUNT TO THE FRAME AS THE FRAME IS CORRODED AND A CRACK IS PRESENT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON DECEMBER 27, 2010 FOR RECALL REPAIR 10V385000 SUSPENSION: REAR: AXLE: NON-POWERED AXLE ASSEMBLY. AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE FRONT SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED AND THE ENGINE WAS BEGINNING TO FALL DOWN. THE POWER STEERING FLUID LEAKED AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 148,000.
A/C SYSTEM WAS FOUND TO BE TOTALLY LOW ON FREON. AFTER REPLACING FREON, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE REAR AC LOW PRESSURE PIPE HAD A LEAK LOCATED NEXT TO THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL. THERE WAS NOTHING IN THIS AREA THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS PIPE LEAK TO OCCUR, SUCH AS ANOTHER PIPE RUBBING AGAINST IT OR OTHER FORM OF FRICTION. IT IS ASSUMED THAT THE PIPE WAS STRUCTURALLY DEFECTIVE. *TR

MY DAUGHTER WAS SO AFRAID BECAUSE SHE WAS SEATING AT THE BACK 2 TIMES IN A ROW!! I WAS QUESTIONING ABOUT THE OCCURANCE AND FREQUENCY??? I HAVE TO PAY $400 FOR EACH REPLACEMENT!! *TR

THE CONTACT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE AND CALLED THE DEALER. THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND REFERRED HIM TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE REFERRED LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
I HAD MY MOTHERS' 2000 FORD WINDSTAR IN TO BE REPAIRED FOR TWO RECALLS, ONE DEALING WITH THE ABS SYSTEM AND FLUID LEAKING THAT COULD CAUSE A FIRE, AND ONE DEALING WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES IN THE TRAILER WIRING. AFTER FOUR DAYS WITHOUT A VEHICLE, I PICKED UP THE VAN (SECOND RECALL STILL NOT COMPLETED DUE TO LACK OF PARTS). I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP AND WITHIN 5 MILES THE ABS LIGHT CAME BACK ON. WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON, I NOTICED THE VAN STARTED RUNNING ROUGH AND BRAKING WAS MORE DIFFICULT AND FELT VERY SOFT. WHEN I RETURNED HOME, THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK IN ON MONDAY. THEY DID NOT OFFER TO GIVE MY MOTHER A LOANER DURING THE FIRST REPAIR AND SAID NOTHING FOR THE SECOND EITHER. I AM VERY DISPLEASED WITH THE SERVICE REGARDING THESE RECALLS, AND IT SEEMS LIKE THE PROBLEM STILL IS NOT FIXED. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY MOTHER DRIVING THIS VAN WHILE THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE RUST HAD BEGUN IN THE H FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

MY MECHANIC TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD - LIFE THREATENING. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE NUMEROUS INCIDENTS SIMILAR TO THIS ONE. I DEMAND A RECALL ON THIS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE FROM THE CENTER OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE CLICKING NOISE STOPPED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SAME CLICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT WHEN SHE OPERATED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE ON THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MOTOR FOR THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE WOULD BOUNCE AND SHE COULD FEEL VIBRATIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE ALSO STALLED INTERMITTENTLY. THE IDLE AIR CONTROL WAS REPAIRED BY A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 115,432.

I HAVE ALSO HAD THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEREFORE, I AM CONCERNED THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED PROPERLY AND MY BRAKES ARE NOT FUNCTIONING AS THEY SHOULD.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY TOLD THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
FOR A YEAR NOW WE BE NOTICING ODOMETER FAILURE, BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT COMING ON. RECENTLY WE FOUND OUT THE BRAKES WEREN'T WORKING AT ALL. LUCKILY NO ACCIDENTS. I INSPECTED THE BRAKE FLUID CONTAINER WHICH WAS EMPTY. I REFILLED IT AND CHECKED AROUND TO SEE FOR ANY LEAKS. I NOTICED IT WAS LEAKING AT THE SCDS SWITCH. I WENT ONLINE AND FOUND A WEBSITE WHERE THEY DESCRIBED THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS. LUCKY IT HASN'T CAUSED ANY FIRE LIKE IT DID BY SOME OTHER OWNERS. *TR

SHE WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,500.

NO REPAIRS HAD BEEN MADE AT THIS TIME. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
