BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH LEAKING FLUID AND CAUSING COMPLETE FAILURE OF BREAKING SYSTEM. *TR
2002 FORD WINDSTAR: THE BRAKE PRESSURE DIFFERENTIAL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (2B264) LOCATED UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER (BEHIND THE AIR FILTER) OVER TIME DEVELOPED A LEAK THAT LEAD TO A FIRE. THE LEAKY SWITCH AT WORST CAUSES A FIRE AT THE POINT WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE ABS ECM MODULE. THE CAR WAS OFF. I WAS STANDING NEARBY WHEN A BIG POP AND A GREAT DEAL OF SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR, THERE WAS A SMALL FIRE. I USED A FIRE EXTINGUISHER TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. *TR
2002 FORD WINDSTAR BRAKE PRESSURE DEACTIVATION SWITCH FAILURE. CAUSED FUSE #10 TO BLOW DUE TO LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. MADE ODOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, CRUISE CONTROL, A/C NOT WORK. DISCONNECT ABS - WOULD RATHER CHANCE SLIPPING ON ICE THAN FIRE. *TR
STARTED MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR AND ABS/BRAKE LIGHT/CRUISE CONTROL/ LIGHTS WILL NOT GO OUT AND SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. FORD DEALER WANTS A POSSIBLE 300.00 TO FIX IT ALSO THEIR IS NOT AIR/CONDITIONING, BLOWS HOT AIR. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND SMOKE APPEARED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ASSUMED THAT THE ELECTRICAL UNIT WAS AT FAULT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY FIVE TIMES. THE CONTACT HAS DECIDED NOT TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,000.
VEHICLE BECAME HAVING INTERMITTENT ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHT ACTIVATION WHILE DRIVING. THIS BEGAN IN 2007. I HAD IT CHECKED AND THE DEALER ADVISED IT WAS A CONTROL MODULE PROBLEM NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I CHECKED ON LINE TO GET A BETTER STORY, WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES. OVER THE PAST 2 MONTHS MARCH/APRIL 2009 THE PROBLEM APPEARED TO BECOME WORST. FINALLY CRUISE CONTROL BECAME INTERMITTENT AND THEN QUIT. I CHECKED BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH FOUND FLUID IN AND AROUND THE SWITCH WHICH IS ONE OF THE REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSTAR. THE ABS SYSTEM AND CRUISE CONTROL ARE CURRENTLY INOP. THERE ARE NO BLOWN FUSES. *TR
THE BRAKE PRESSURE CRUISE DEACTIVATION SWITCH ON MY 2002 WINDSTAR HAS LEAKED BRAKE FLUID DOWN ONTO THE WIRING BELOW THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. I HAVE PURCHASED THE REPLACEMENT SWITCH FROM MY NEAREST FORD DEALER. BUT NOW MY CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK, AND THE HORN DOES NOT WORK, AND THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO THE BRAKE LIGHT, ABS LIGHT, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD, AS WELL AS THE SPEEDOMETER AND DIGITAL ODOMETER QUIT WORKING. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ABS MODULE WENT BAD AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. THEY QUOTED ME $1006.17 + TAX TO FIX IT! IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS YEAR WINDSTAR HAS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS MODULE, AND I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY WORK IS BEING DONE ON A RECALL? *TR
I HAVE A 2002 WINDSTAR. FOR OVER A YEAR THE ABS AND PARKING BRAKE LIGHT COME ON AND STAY ON ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS OVER $1000 TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL AND THERE ARE DOCUMENTED CASES OF FIRES ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM. *TR
BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH LEAKED BRAKE FLUID CAUSING FAILURE OF CRUISE CONTROL, SPEEDOMETER, AND ODOMETER. RED BRAKE LIGHT AND YELLOW ABS LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. HAD REPAIR DONE AT LOCAL FORD DEALER. PAID $200.00 FOR ANALYZER AND $700.00 TO REPLACE WIRING, CRUISE CONTROL MODULE AND SPEEDOMETER MODULE. BRAKE AND ABS LIGHTS ARE NOW OFF. SECOND DAY OUT OF THE SHOP THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. ESTIMATE #700.00 I AM HOPING THE NHTSA RULES ON THIS DEFECT AS A SAFETY HAZARD AND ORDERS A RECALL. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2002 FORD WINDSTAR AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND IT SMELLED ELECTRICAL. MY 19 YEAR OLD SON NOTICED THE SMOKE COMING FROM THE WIRES UNDER THE MASTER CYLINDER. THEY CALLED ME AND I SUGGESTED REMOVING THE WIRES FROM THE BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH. HE DID BUT THEY WERE EXTREMELY HOT. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH TO FIND A PROBLEM WITH WINDSTAR PRESSURE SWITCHES AND WIRING CATCHING FIRE. I AM GLAD A FIRE DIDN'T START, BUT IT COULD HAVE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE FORD INCLUDE 2002 WINDSTARS IN THEIR RECALL. *TR
WE ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH OUR 2002 WINDSTAR VAN...THE BRAKE LIGHTS , ABS LIGHTS, AND TRAC LIGHTS ARE COMING ON ALL OF THE TIME PLUS THE OD LIGHT, TOO!!! RACK AND PINION STEERING SPLIT, INTAKE MANIFOLD HAD TO BE REPLACED, TIRE ROD FIXED, UPPER PLENUM REPLACED, ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON, LEAKS COOLANT, ETC. ETC. ETC. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR VAN, WHILE DRIVING, THE VAN THE ABS LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ALL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME. THEY REMAIN ON UNTIL I PARK THE VAN. IF I TURN THE VAN BACK ON THE LIGHTS ARE OFF, BUT ONCE I BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN ALL THREE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE HAD THE VAN. I HAVE READ THAT THERE IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THIS HAPPENING IN FORD WINDSTAR VANS AND IT HAS RESULTED IN FIRES. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE VAN NOW, AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THERE WILL BE A RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH MY VAN, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE WEATHER HAS GOTTEN WARMER. *TR
FORD WINDSTAR SEL 2002 AFTER APPROX 1 HR OF DRIVING, THE BRAKE AND ABS WARNING LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE AND THE CHECK TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE WOULD FLASH ON THE INFORMATION DISPLAY. PROBLEM WOULD USUALLY RESOLVE AFTER BEING LEFT OVER NIGHT. THE FREQUENCY OF THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE WOULD INCREASE AS WEATHER GOT WARMER. BRAKE, ABS BRAKE, CRUISE CONTROL, AND SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS MY DASH LIGHTS ARE ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME WENT TO 3 MECHANIC THEY ALL CHECKED MY BRAKES, ABS AND COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM IT GOES ON WHENEVER IT WANTS STAYS ON FOR WEEKS THEN COMES BACK ON WHILE DRIVING THIS HAS BEEN DOING FOR OVER A YEAR. I EVEN PUT STICKERS OVER THE LIGHTS THAT I CAN SEE WHILE DRIVING. I STILL THINK THERE IS A ELECTRICAL WIRING PROBLEM IT IS VERY ANNOYING. I CAN NOT AFFORD TO GET ANOTHER VEHICLE . I SEE THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINT ABOUT SAME PROBLEM MY NIECE HAS ONE DOES THE SAME THING AND MY BROTHER IN LAW IN WEST VIRGINIA HIS IS DOING IT TOO SO I REALLY THING FORD NEEDS TO CHECK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE'S VAN CATCHES FIRE OR HURT SOME ONE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. ON APRIL 6, 2010, WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE REAR AXLE BROKE IN HALF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE REAR AXLE AT THAT TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS DENIED SINCE THE REPAIRS WERE NOT PERFORMED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,028. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 97,000.
I HAVE REPORTED THIS BEFORE, BUT THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY THIS PAST WINTER AND HAS NOW RETURNED WHEN THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE STARTED TO RISE. INTERMITTENTLY BOTH THE BRAKE LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ON MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR WILL COME ON WHILE I'M DRIVING. IF I SHUT THE VAN OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON THE PROBLEMS GOES AWAY, SOMETIMES FOR THAT DAY, SOMETIMES FOR A WEEK OR MORE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES BUT THEY COULD NEVER FIND THE PROBLEM AND ITS NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY, SO I'VE GOTTEN TIRED OF TAKING IT TO THEM AND HAVE THEM TELL ME THAT THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. *TR
INTERMITTENT FAULT IN THE ABS SYSTEM THAT CAUSES THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM TO DISENGAGE. FAULT CAUSES "ABS" "BRAKE" AND TRAC OFF" INDICATORS TO TURN ON. FAULT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY IN WARMER TEMPERATURES. *TR
ABS YELLOW AND RED BRAKES LIGHTS COME ON. JUST ADDING MY COMPLAINT TO THE LIST. SPENT $400 TO REPLACE FRONT AXLE THEY THOUGHT WAS THE PROBLEM BUT IS NOT. HAPPENED AT AROUND 90,000 MILES. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN COMING TO A STOP WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE REAR END OF A VEHICLE, WHICH CAUSED THE OTHER VEHICLE TO CRASH INTO A VEHICLE AS WELL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO HAD NOT DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. UPDATED 09/20/11
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR VAN WILL TURN ON BY THEMSELVES AT NIGHT, OR WILL STAY ILLUMINATED CONSTANTLY DURING DRIVING. WHEN I ARRIVE AT MY DESTINATION AND WITH THE IGNITION TURNED OFF I HAVE TO PUMP MY BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. THERE IS FREQUENTLY A BURNT ELECTRICAL SMELL WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS. I AM DELIVERING MY FORD WINDSTAR VAN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, BUT FOUND SEVERAL ONLINE WEBSITES AND FORUMS OF WINDSTAR OWNERS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF, MY FAMILY, AND OTHER DRIVES WHILE OPERATING THIS VEHICLE. I AM ON MY 3RD BRAND-NEW BATTERY FOR THIS VAN DUE TO THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM. 2002 FORD WINDSTAR W/ABS. THE AMBER ABS WARNING LIGHT AND RED BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. I HAD THE ELECTRONIC HYDRAULIC CONTROLUNIT SCANNED FOR ERROR CODES AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ABOVE REFERENCE ELECTRONIC HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT WAS DEFECTIVE. THE ERROR CODES WERE C1185, C1233, C1235, C1236, U1262, C1446. IT APPEARS THAT FORD INTENTIONALLY BUILT INTO THE 2002 WINDSTAR AN INTENTIONAL EXPENSIVE FAILURE MECHANISM IN WHICH THE ALUMINUM HEATSINK IN THE ABOVE MENTIONED ELECTRONIC HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT STRESSES THE CHEAP CIRCUIT BOARD IN THE SAME UNIT CAUSING THE CIRCUIT BOARD TO FAIL. WORSE YET, FORD CHARGES APPROXIMATELY $1000.00 JUST FOR THE NEW ELECTRONIC HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT. THEN YOU MUST PAY THEM TO DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE INTO THE PART, AND THEN THE PART MUST BE INSTALLED AT A HUGE LABOR COST. THESE ARE BRAKES AND THEREFORE THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. FURTHER, AS I KNOW YOU ARE AWARE, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM COSTING CONSUMERS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS EACH FOR THIS VEHICLE OBSOLESCENCE THAT WAS INTENTIONALLY DESIGNED IN BY FORD. PURCHASED A USED 2002 FORD WINDSTAR VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP IN DECEMBER 2008--CRUISE CONTROL WAS WORKING FINE AT TIME OF PURCHASE--AROUND MARCH 2009 CRUISE CONTROL FAILED TO WORK. THIS MAY NOT BE RELATED BUT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BECOME STUCK AT SPEED SET AFTER DEPRESSING BRAKE AND SLOWING DOWN- CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT ACTIVATE ANY LONGER. *TR
THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRAC ACTIVE LIGHTS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. THEY DON'T COME ON DURING SOME TRIPS, COME ON DURING SOME TRIPS AND STAY ON UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. ANYTIME THE LIGHTS ARE ON, THE ABS SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. EVIDENTLY THIS IS CAUSED BY AN ALUMINUM PLATE THAT WHEN WARM (DURING SUMMER MONTHS OR AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR A WHILE) EXPANDS AND INTERFERES WITH THE CONNECTION. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH I SMELLED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. TOLD THE WIFE AND KIDS I WAS PULLING OVER AND TO GET READY TO BAIL OUT OF VAN AS SOON AS I STOPPED AND TO STAY CLEAR OF IT. WHEN EVERYONE WAS OUT AND SAFE I OPENED THE HOOD AND SAW A FIRE UNDER THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. GOT WATER BOTTLES FROM INSIDE VAN AND A RAG AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ON THE SWITCH BELOW THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER ON THE WIRES TO A SWITCH UNDERNEATH. LATER I CLEANED THE MESS CUT THE WIRES THAT HAD CAUGHT FIRE THE ONES THAT WENT TO THE SWITCH UNDER THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND WRAPPED THEM SO THEY WOULDN'T GROUND OUT.CONTINUED ON HOME FOR ANOTHER 1 1/2 HRS. WHEN I GOT HOME I TOOK THE SWITCH THAT HAD BURNED UNDER THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER OFF AND PUT A BOLT IN IT'S PLACE.I THRU OUT THE SWITCH. I HAVEN'T REPLACED THE SWITCH I ALSO LOST MY CRUISE CONTROL SINCE THE FIRE. I DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL TODAY WHEN I WAS LOOKING UP SOME INFO FOR MY VAN AND READ THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM .
MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR HAD TWO ISSUES THE ECM (ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE) IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED BY A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND HE SAID IT IS A FAULTY ECM. MY ABS & BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON DEPENDING ON THE OUTSIDE TEMP. THERE IS A BURNING ODOR BUT WHEN CHECKED THE MECHANIC DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. AGAIN SAYS IT IS THE ECM. *TR
SMOKE AND TERRIBLE PLASTIC BURNING SMELL INSIDE THE CABIN OF MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR VAN. TAKING MY VAN IN TO A REPAIR SHOP IN FEBRUARY, I HAD TO HAVE THE ABS MODULE AND CRUISE CONTROL MODULE AND ALL ASSOCIATED WIRING REPLACED, DUE TO SOME EVIDENT FLUID LEAKING OF SOME KIND (I BELIEVE THEY SAID BREAK FLUID). MY COST WAS $1,030.98, AND THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN (????). THEY THOUGHT THIS ISSUE MAY WARRANT A RECALL. I DO HAVE MY PARTS THEY REPLACED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE INDICATOR WOULD NOT DIM ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY IF THE INDICATOR REMAINED LIT. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AVAILABLE FOR THE FAILURE; THEREFORE, THEY WERE NOT LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED (35 MPH), SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT WARNING OR APPARENT REASON, THE REAR AXLE SNAPPED ON MY 2002 FORD WINDSTAR MINIVAN, LOCKING THE REAR WHEELS AND CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE AXLE, (FORD CALLS IT A "HOUSING" LOOKED AS IF IT HAD SIMPLE SNAPPED IN HALF. - AT THE DEALERSHIP, I LEARNED THAT A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAD BEEN REPORTED A MONTH EARLIER. - MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS MAY OCCUR REPEATEDLY AND TO OTHERS TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE WINDSTAR MINIVAN IS THE VEHICLE OF CHOICE FOR PEOPLE WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. THIS FAILURE CAUSED BOTH REAR TIRES TO FAIL TO MOVE, AND IN MY OPINION IS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF A CRITICAL COMPONENT OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD WINDSTAR. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE ONE MORNING, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. ONE MONTH LATER, THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL LIGHTS STOPPED ILLUMINATING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST HE WAS DRIVING OR HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ACM MODULE. THEY ALSO REPLACED AN INSTRUMENT PANEL SENSOR, WHICH REPAIRED MOST OF THE FAILURES. THE ABS LIGHT AND TRACTION LIGHT ARE STILL ILLUMINATED. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME VEHICLE THAT WERE EXPERIENCING IDENTICAL FAILURES. HE BELIEVES THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.

2002 FORD WINDSTAR BLEW FUSE #10 DISABLING SPEEDOMETER, CRUISE CONTROL, ABS SYSTEM, ODOMETER, A/C, DEFROST CONTROL. THE FUSE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A LEAK IN THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WHICH SHORTED THE BRAKE DEACTIVATION SWITCH TERMINALS. MY VEHICLE FOGGED UP SO BAD I COULD HARDLY SEE TO DRIVE HOME. I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR A CLUE TO THE PROBLEM AND LATER LOCATED THE WET SWITCH PLUG. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO BUY A NEW SWITCH AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. HE SAID NO BUT, WHEN A FELLOW PARTS MAN WENT TO GET ONE FROM THE BIN, HE ASKED THE SAME QUESTION, STATING THAT THERE WERE 67 REPAIR KITS IN THE BIN.....THIS LET ME KNOW THAT THEY HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS AND SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL TO ALL OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES. *TR

ADDITIONALLY HER VEHICLE SPONTANEOUSLY LOSES BRAKE FLUID. IF THE BRAKES FAIL WHILE DRIVING, HER INCREASE FOR VEHICLE CRASH AND SAFETY HAZARD ARE INCREASED . SHE IS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 71,000.
