I PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM GMC DEALERSHIP A 2007 GMC ACADIA. ABOUT A YEAR LATER AFTER HEAVY RAINS, I HAD WATER LEAKING FROM THE SUNROOF AND DVD PLAYER AREA. I DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT BAD ROOF DRAIN TUBES. TOOK ACADIA INTO DEALERSHIP FEB20, 2009 TO GET INSTALLED/REPAIRED. YEAR LATER, FEB 18, 2010, HAD TO AGAIN, TAKE ACADIA INTO DEALERSHIP FOR SAME ISSUE. WATER COMING THRU LIGHT FIXTURES NOW. BUT THEY REPLACED SEAL ON SUNROOF. ON MAY 17,2010, RETURNED TO DEALERSHIP BECAUSE AGAIN, WATER LEAKING INTO CAR. SAID THEY WATER TESTED CAR AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. (THEY TOLD ME IT'S BECAUSE I PARK MY CAR ON A INCLINE DRIVEWAY.) ARRIVED TO TAKE MY CAR HOME, BUT THEY STOPPED ME BECAUSE WHEN THEY WASHED MY CAR, THEY NOTICED WATER LEAKING FROM THE ROOF (SAME AREAS AS BEFORE). THEY "FIXED" THE PROBLEM AGAIN, AND RETURNED ACADIA TO ME. AND YESTERDAY, 2 MONTHS LATER, I RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SAME WATER LEAK ISSUE. AGAIN, TOLD ME NOT TO PARK ON INCLINE. THEY RESEALED REAR SUNROOF, REMOVED HEADLINER AND SUNROOF FRAME AND SEALED DRAIN HOLES PER BULLETIN. SAME DAY THERE WAS RAINS, AND NO MORE THAN 6 HOURS LATER, ACADIA IS STILL LEAKING WATER ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. CARPET SOAKING WET AND THE SMELL OF MILDEW IS SETTING IN. TOTAL OF 4 ATTEMPTS TO FIX LEAKING WATER IN ACADIA. NOT FIXED YET. (FOR THE RECORD, THE ACADIA IS A GREAT CROSSOVER VEHICLE. THE ONLY ISSUE I HAVE WITH IT IS THE LEAKING ROOF.) *TR
MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT BULB WENT OUT. I BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT, BUT WHEN I DISASSEMBLED EVERYTHING AND GOT TO THE BULB, THE CONNECTOR WAS SOMEWHAT MELTED AND ONE OF THE WIRES WAS PULLED OUT. WHEN I TRIED TO REMOVE THE BULB, THE CONNECTOR CRACKED. NOTE THAT THIS WAS THE ORIGINAL BULB. *TR
VEHICLE IS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TURNS OFF WHEN THERE IS A PERSON SITTING IN THE SEAT WHENEVER THEY MOVE. SOMETIMES THE AIRBAG REMAINS OFF FOR 10 TO 15 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED AS A BAD OCCUPANCY MODULE AND LOOP CONNECTOR. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL FOR THESE ISSUES, HOWEVER MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. AFTER TALKING TO GMC, THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND I SHOULD PAY THE $1700 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND HOPE THAT I GET REIMBURSED AT A LATER DATE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CLUTCH PLATE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 6,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
BATTERY COMPLETELY DRAINS WHILE PARKED IN MY GARAGE OVERNIGHT. THERE ISN'T EVEN ENOUGH JUICE TO RELEASE THE REAR DOOR LOCK SO I CAN RETRIEVE JUMPER CABLES FROM THE REAR STORAGE AREA OF THE GMC ACADIA. *TR
ON 4/20/201, I WAS DRIVING MY 2007 GMC ACADIA ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT OR NEAR THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 35 MPH WHEN THE SIDE/CURTAIN AIRBAGS SPONTANEOUSLY DEPLOYED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. THE ONLY SOUND I HEARD WAS THE DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONSTAR CAME ONLINE AND NOTIFIED THE LOCAL POLICE. WHEN THE POLICE ARRIVED, THE POLICE INVESTIGATED THE SCENE, INCLUDING SURVEYING THE ROAD BEHIND ME TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY POTHOLES OR DEBRIS. NOTHING WAS FOUND IN THE ROAD. AN INCIDENT REPORT WAS FILED BUT NO ACCIDENT REPORT WAS FILLED OUT. AAA WAS CALLED AND SHOWED UP WITH A FLATBED TRUCK AND TOWED MY CAR TO THE DEALER. WHEN THE CAR WAS OFFLOADED FROM OF THE TOW TRUCK, THE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL WAS DAMAGED. THIS DAMAGE DID NOT OCCUR AT THE SCENE OF THE SPONTANEOUS DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS. GM HAS DENIED TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE MALFUNCTION OF THE VEHICLE. GM CLAIMS OPERATOR ERROR AND THAT THE AIRBAGS PERFORMED PROPERLY. THEIR CLAIM IS BASED UPON THE DAMAGE TO THE WHEEL AND THEY CLAIM THAT THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE TIPPED BEYOND THE 48 DEGREE THRESHOLD FOR THE FIRING OF THE AIRBAGS. THESE CLAIMS BY GM ARE FALSE. I WAS TRAVELING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND THE CAR DID NOT, AT ANYTIME, TIP ANYWHERE NEAR 48 DEGREES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAVE HAD WITH THIS VEHICLE AND I AM NOW SCARED TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. *TR UPDATED IVOQ 08/12/10*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN 50 MPH WHEN THE DRIVER CRASHED HEAD-ON WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT LEG AND HEAD. THE POLICE REPORTED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP WHERE THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN INVESTIGATOR WOULD INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE INSPECTOR STATED THAT THE CONTROL MODULE WAS UNPLUGGED DURING THE IMPACT, WHICH CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000. UPDATED 2/8/12 *CN
2007 GMC ACADIA ALL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON AND STERRING GETS VERY HARD TO TURN. THIS IS THIRD EVENT SINCE OCT 2009 AND THE DEALERSHIP HAS "FIXED" IT EACH TIME.
2008 SATURN OUTLOOK (SAME AS GMC ACADIA, BUICK ENCLAVE AND CHEVY TRAVERSE) THE HEADLAMP WIRING HARNESS AS DESIGNED IS LIKELY AND DOES GOT SO HOT THAT THE WIRING CLIP TO THE BULB BURNS/SCORCHES. IT RENDERS THE HEADLAMP VERY INTERMITTENT AND THEN FAILS. THE GM P/N IS 20858015. IT IS A $49 PART ... AND A $200+ INSTALL DUE TO THE RIDICULOUS COMPLEXITY OF GETTING TO THE HEADLAMP AND THAT IT GOES BACK INTO THE CAR. RECALL IS VERY MUCH NECESSARY.
WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL IT MAKES WHINING AND GROANING NOISES. DEALER ATTEMPTED FIX WHICH RESOLVED PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 1 MONTH AND THEN SOUNDS CAME BACK. DEALER REFUSES TO FIX NOW, STATING THAT GMC HAS TOLD THEM NOT TO FIX IT AND IS "WORKING ON A FIX" (WHICH WAS 3 MONTHS AGO). STILL NO FIX BEING OFFERED. *TR
THIS CAR IS DANGEROUS. DRIVING 65MPH ON FREEWAY WHEN EVERY SERVICE AND WARNING LIGHT WENT ON. REPLACED ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND REPLACE IPC, COULD HAVE KILLED US AND OTHERS. ALSO ENGINE WAS REMOVED TO REPAIR ENGINE FRONT COVER LEAK AT 39,000, NOW AT 85,000 SAME LEAK REPAIR IS REQUIRED AT COST OF $2926. THAT MEANS EVERY 40,000 MILES YOU NEED TO SPEND $3000 AND HAVE ENGINE REMOVED. POWER STEERING ALWAYS MADE WHINING NOISE WHICH I WAS TOLD IS NORMAL. AT 85,000 WAS TOLD STEERING RACK AND PINION GEARS NEED REPLACEMENT AND I AM SURE THE PUMP NEEDS REPLACEMENT AS WELL $2000. WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY COULD NOT STOP ON EXIT WITHOUT BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR, STABILTRAK LIGHT ON COULD HAVE KILLED US OR SOMEONE. HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. WATER PUMP WAS LEAKING AFTER ENGINE WAS PUT BACK IN FROM 1ST REPAIR OF FRONT COVER ENGINE SEAL. TIMING CHAIN HAS STRETCH YOU CAN HEAR IT, BUT THEY ONLY ADDED THRUST WASHERS. REAR LIFTGATE - WHILE LOADING GROCERIES LIFT GATE FREE FELL CLOSED ON DAUGHTERS HEAD. WAS TOLD REAR LIFT GATE SHOCKS FAILED. COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE. THIS CAR IS A DEATH TRAP. DON'T BUY IT. *TR
LOST POWER STEERING AND ALTERNATOR STOPPED CHARGING DURING MORE THEN ONE RAIN STORM. THE SERPENTINE BELT GETS WET AND SLIPPED BECAUSE IT'S EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENT FROM THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL. *TR
LOW BEAM WIRE HARNESS MELTED WITH A RISK OF FIRE DUE TO WRONG WATTAGE BULB ACCORDING TO GM DEALERSHIP. CIRCUIT PROTECTION WAS INADEQUATE TO PREVENT SUCH A COMMON FAILURE MODE. HARNESS HAS NOT YET BEEN REPLACED.
WE WERE DRIVING BETWEEN JACKSON HOLE AND THAYNE, WYOMING AND GOT INTO A HEAVY RAINSTORM AND STARTED TO EXPERIENCE A SLIGHT STEERING PROBLEM. IT WAS NOT UNTIL WE STOPPED AND PARKED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN STARTED UP THAT WE REALLY EXPERIENCE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHUTTER, MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE VEHICLE TO THE POINT THAT WE FORCED TO PARK THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING. AFTER SITTING OVER NIGHT AND ALLOWED TO DRY OUT, THE STEERING IMPROVED, BUT THERE STILL REMAINED A SLIGHT SHUTTER AS WE START TO MOVE AND ATTEMPT TO STEER EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT. IT HAS LEFT US A LITTLE CONCERNED OVER THIS MATTER, CAUSING ME TO TAKE IT TO OUR LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP (HARMON'S MOTOR, PROVO, UTAH). THEY CHECKED THE WATER SHIELDS AND FOUND THEM IN TACT SO THEY CHOSE TO REPLACE THE SERPENTINE BELT. OTHERWISE,. THERE REMAINS A SLIGHT LAG OR PAUSE IN THE STEERING ON START UP WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL, WHICH TRANSLATES INTO A SLIGHT SHUTTER. ONCE UNDER WAY, THE STEERING RETURNS TO NORMAL. *TR
2007 GMC ACADIA HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY. *NJ THE DEALER STATED EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RUBBING SOUND, THE POWER STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY HAD NOT FAILED AND THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE.*JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND ACTIVATED THE WINDSHIELD WASHER. THE FLUID DISPENSED QUICKLY AND FORCEFULLY FROM THE RESERVOIR AND FAILED TO DISENGAGE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER SHE ACTIVATED THE WINDSHIELD WASHER DEVICE. ONE YEAR PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V410000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:LINKAGES). THE AUTHORIZED DEALER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AND WILL BE TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 32,000.
I AM ON ACTIVE DUTY AN ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY MEMBER. WHILE ATTENDING A MILITARY SCHOOL, I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 GMC ACADIA FROM A GMC DEALERSHIP NEARBY. AFTER THE COURSE, I SERVED A YEAR AT A MILITARY STATION IN ANOTHER STATE, WHILE THERE, MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED TWICE FOR RECALLS BY A GMC SERVICE CENTER NEARBY. ONE OF THE RECALLS WAS TO FIX A DEFECT IN THE SUN ROOF THAT WAS CAUSING WATER LEAKS. I HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED IN 09 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY JUST BEFORE SHIPPING FOR A 2 YEAR OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENT. AT THAT TIME, I IDENTIFIED SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. SOON AFTER MY ARRIVAL TO MY OVERSEAS ASSIGNMENT, MORE ELECTRICAL ISSUES DEVELOPED ALONG WITH MYSTERY WATER LEAKS THAT WERE SATURATING THE CARPET AND CAUSING MOLD TO GROW INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO GM SERVICE CENTER IN THAT COUNTRY SO I HAD TO LIVE WITH THE LEAKS AND ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. FINALLY AFTER ABOUT A YEAR, I HAD A MINOR ACCIDENT WHERE MY TIRE HIT A GUARD RAIL DOING ABOUT 10 MPH. ALL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED BUT THERE WAS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT I QUIT USING THE VEHICLE. THE SEAT BELTS DIDN'T WORK, THE AC AND HEATER DIDN'T WORK, THE LEFT BLINKER DIDN'T WORK, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT SHUT OFF WITH THE KEY, THE BATTERY BOX BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT KEPT FLOODING WITH WATER AND I HAD TO DISCONNECT A BATTERY CABLE EVERY TIME I PARKED THE CAR TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DYING. THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE. I AM NOW STATIONED IN THE US AND HAVE SHIPPED THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE USA. I AM NOW TRYING TO RESOLVE ALL THESE ISSUES WITH A LOCAL GM SERVICE CENTER BUT I AM BEING TOLD BY THAT SERVICE CENTER THAT THE VEHICLE IS BASICALLY TOTALED WITH ONLY 60K MILES BUT SINCE IT IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY, I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG ON/OFF WARNING INDICATOR WOULD FLUCTUATE EVEN THOUGH AN OCCUPANT WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE FAILURE WAS SPORADIC. THE CONTACT INQUIRED WITH THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 07V062000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL: SENSOR/CONTROL MODULE) BUT WAS ADVISED THAT HIS THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
RECALL ON MY GMC 2007 ACADIA FOR LEAKING SUNROOF. RECALL WORK DONE ON 09/24/08. REPLACED "FAULTY DRAIN TUBES" RECALL #08207. A FEW MONTHS LATER, ON 04/03/09, MY CAR WAS LEAKING WATER ONTO THE DASHBOARD, FROM THE DOME LIGHTS, WINDOW AIRBAG. THE WATER WAS POOLED IN MY DOME LIGHTS (8 TOTAL LIGHTS). TOOK TRUCK IN TO BE REPAIRED THAT DAY. THEY COULD NOT GET TO IT FOR 3 DAYS, WORK WAS DONE ON 04/06/09. I WAS TOLD THE PROCEDURES THEY HAD TO PERFORM THE RECALL BACK IN SEPT. WERE INCORRECT, THEREFORE CAUSING THE PROBLEM/LEAKING. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE THIS HAPPENED TO. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE "RECALL ON THE RECALL" AND AS A RESULT, MY SUNROOF LEAKED AND FILLED MY TRUCK WITH WATER AND WHO KNOWS WHAT TYPE OF DAMAGE WILL RESULT BECAUSE OF IT. ELECTRICAL? WILL MY AIRBAG WORK? MOLD? I WAS TOLD THERE WILL BE NO DAMAGE AS A RESULT BUT HOW CAN THAT BE GUARANTEED? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER INSERTS THAT REST ON THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE WERE CRACKED. LATER, THE INSERTS DISAPPEARED FROM THE VEHICLE AND THE WIPERS WERE OPERABLE; HOWEVER, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER CLEANER WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE CONTACT CALLED SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERS AND THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE LESS THAN 15,000. UPDATED 03-04-09 *BF THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 6 WEEKS FOR THE PARTS TO ARRIVE. UPDATED 03/05/09. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING AND ONLY WHEN DRIVING DURING INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE WHEEL WELL SHIELD WAS NOT PROPERLY DESIGNED TO FIT AND WHEN DRIVING OVER PUDDLES OR WET ROADWAYS, WATER WAS ENTERING THE POWER STEERING COMPARTMENT AND CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED WHO STATED THERE WAS A RETROFIT FOR THE FRONT WHEEL WELL THAT WOULD COST THE CONTACT $400 FOR INSTALLATION. THE FAILURE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000. BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2007 ACADIA IN JULY 2007. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES OF HAVING IT IN THE SHOP FOR A LEAKY SUNROOF, I THOUGHT ALL WAS WELL. ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED A VERY LOUD WHINING, ESPECIALLY ON TURNS. TURNS OUT THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS GOING OUT AND DEALERSHIP SAID I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE IT FIXED PRONTO! SAID IT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. SO AFTER PAYING OVER 36,000.00 FOR THIS AUTOMOBILE, I NOW HAVE TO PAY 800.00 TO REPLACE A POWER STEERING PUMP ON A NEW CAR THAT I HAVE HAD FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. WHAT?! THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD PROBABLY FIX IT SOON. I HOPE SINCE THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. *TR
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH STEERING COLUMN REPLACED TWICE AND STEERING PUMP REPLACED ONCE. STILL THE PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED. *TR
WATER ENTERING INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. POINTS OF ENTRY INCLUDE: SIDE AIR BAG OPENINGS, FOOT EMERGENCY BRAKE(WHICH IS LOCATED NEAR VEHICLE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS) SHOULDER SEAT BELT OPENINGS AND THROUGH DVD SCREEN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICE FOR THIS COMPLAINT. THE HEADLINER WAS REMOVED AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTED. TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT TURN VEHICLE OFF USING THE IGNITION KEY. VEHICLE LEAKS AFTER DRIVING IN RAIN. HAVE SERVICE INVOICES STATING THAT DEALER PERFORMED WATER TESTS AFTER EACH REPAIR AND FOUND NO LEAK YET VEHICLE HAS LEAKED AFTER EVERY REPAIR. HAVE DETAILED COLOR PHOTOS OF SOAKED WIRES, SATURATED HEADLINER, MOLD DAMAGE AND CORRODED FUSE BLOCK. VEHICLE WAS ONLY DRIVEN A TOTAL OF 689 MILES FROM DATE OF THE INITIAL LEAK TO DATE OF THE THIRD LEAK. DURING THIRD LEAK, WATER ALSO DRIPPED FROM VEHICLE'S REAR DISPLAY ONTO THIRD ROW SEATS. I FEEL THAT GM KNEW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM THE BEGINNING BECAUSE THEIR AUG08 #08207 RECALL ACTUALLY IDENTIFIED VIN BREAKPOINTS OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. INSTEAD, GM CHOSE TO DEAL WITH IT ON A CASE-TO-CASE BASIS AND IT HAS BECOME A VERY SERIOUS ISSUE. LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS GO OUT. I'VE ALSO TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN MANY TIMES FOR NOISE IN THE STEERING COLUMN. EVENTUALLY, I LOSE MY POWER STEERING. EVERYTIME, THEY TELL ME THERE IS A LEAK OR STEERING GEAR PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED BUT IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IM TAKING IT IN FOR THE 4TH OR 5TH TIME NOW TO REPAIR THE SQUEAK IN THE STEERING. DRIVING MY 2007 GMC ACADIA. CAME UPON A BUSY STATE HIGHWAY. AFTER COMING TO A STOP, I SAW AN OPENING AND PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO CROSS THE 4 LANE ROAD. WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR, THE CAR JUST STARTED TO CREEP OUT INTO TRAFFIC. THE ENGINE RPM'S INCREASED, BUT THE CAR WAS MOVING AT WALKING SPEED. IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD NOT SHIFTED BACK INTO 1ST GEAR. I TRIED TO MANUALLY SHIFT INTO LOW, BUT IT DID NOT RESPOND. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GET IT GOING FAST ENOUGH TO HAVE IT PICK UP SOME SPEED TO GET ACROSS THE LANES OF TRAFFIC. ON THE WAY HOME, EVERY TIME I CAME TO A STOP, THE CAR ACTED THE SAME WAY UPON ACCELERATION. THE ONLY WAY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO GO BACK INTO 1ST GEAR WAS TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT. EVEN DOING THAT, IT ONLY LASTED UNTIL THE NEXT TIME I STOPPED. AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT OVER NIGHT, IT PERFORMED FINE THE NEXT DAY. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS ISSUE. THE FIRST TIME THE GMC DEALER 'FLASHED' (REPROGRAMMED) THE TRANSMISSION, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT ACTING UP WHEN THE CAR WAS TAKEN INTO THE SHOP. I SPOKE WITH A CAR DEALER AT THE SHOP, AND HE OWNED THE SAME VEHICLE. HIS TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN 'REFLASHED' 6 OR 7 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IF THIS ISSUE IS NOT ADDRESSED "PROPERLY", I BELIEVE SOMEONE SOMEWHERE WILL BE INJURED OR KILLED. THE CONDITION MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED LEAVES ME WITH A VERY UNEASY FEELING (I.E. WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR, I EXPECT THE CAR TO MOVE). IF REFLASHING THE TRANSMISSION (1, 2, 3, 4...7 TIMES) DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM, THEN MAYBE SOMETHING DIFFERENT NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR

APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THIS GM ENGINE. NUMEROUS INTERNET SITES STATE IMPROPERLY MANUFACTURED CAMSHAFT COMPONENTS ARE THE POSSIBLE CAUSE. POWER STEERING MAKES LOUD HUMMING NOISE. ISSUE DISCUSSED WITH SERVICE TECH DURING INITIAL WARRANTY PERIOD AND TOLD NOISE WAS DUE TO PRESSURE IN PS SYSTEM. OWNER TOLD THIS IS NORMAL, BUT OVER THE YEARS THE NOISE HAS GOTTEN WORSE AND ANNOYING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON I84 AT 65 MPH WHEN I STARTED A RIGHT BEND WHEN THE STEERING FROZE UP. THE OTHER TIME WAS WHEN I ALMOST CRASHED IN TO A HOSPITAL BECAUSE THE STEERING FROZE UP. (JUST TURN YOUR CAR TO ACC. AND TRY TURNING THE WHEEL AND THATS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE AT 65 MPH. NO STEERING. CHECKED IT OVER AND SAID THE RAIN/WATER PROBABLY CAUSED THE BELT TO SLIP, WHICH IN TURN CAUSED ME TO LOSE POWER STEERING. I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 GMC ACADIA IN MARCH 2007. IN AUGUST 2008 (21,000 MILES) I BROUGHT THE CAR IN BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING WOULD SOMETIMES FAIL, ESPECIALLY IN THE RAIN. DEALER PERFORMED NEW LINERS PER MAINTENANCE BULLETIN 07-02-32-010. RETURNED CAR FOR SERVICE OF THE SAME PROBLEM OCTOBER 2008 (28,000 MILES) - DEALER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES, BUT THERE WERE NO RESOLUTIONS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE MOISTURE ISSUE REMAINED UNCORRECTED, MOLD COULD FORM IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. THE CAR HAS HAD ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE PROBLEMS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT DUE TO WATER LEAKS FROM A FLAWED SUNROOF DESIGN. EVEN AFTER A RECALL TO FIX THE SUNROOF TO PREVENT WATER LEAKS; IT CONTINUES TO LEAK AND DAMAGE ELECTRICAL AND ENGINE SYSTEMS. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND IS A WIDESPREAD CONCERN FOR THE 2007-2008 GMC ACADIAS. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THIS PROBLEM. I OWNED A 2007 ACADIA AND HAD 4 SUNROOF LEAKS AND GM BOUGHT IT BACK BECAUSE IT WAS A LEMON. THE LAST TIME IT LEAKED THE SUNROOF GLASS WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE SEAL, THAT SEAMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2008 ACADIA AND THERE HAS BEEN NO PROBLEMS WITH WATER LEAKS. *TR

THERE HAS BEEN SO MANY THINGS WRONG WITH CAR ITS UNBELIEVABLE I WENT TO TRADE IT IN AND FINDING OUT THAT WE PAID 45,000 FOR IT BRAND NEW NOW ITS ONLY $20,000 AT THE MAX WE CAN GET FOR OUR AWD ACADIA WITH MOST OF THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. NOW IT IS LACKING POWER IN ACCELERATION AGAIN MERGING ON HIGHWAYS OR PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC THE CAR LULLS OUT AND SOUNDS LIKE ITS STUCK IN NEUTRAL AND IT FINALLY KICKS IN AND GOES VERY DANGEROUS I COULD OF BEEN REAR ENDED THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE OF THIS IT WAS A CLOSE CALL. *TR
I EXPERIENCED WATER LEAKING AND RUNNING DOWN THE INSIDE OF BOTH OF THE FRONT DOORS. IN ADDITION, THE DASH LIGHTS FADED IN AND OUT INTERMITTENTLY, THE CLOCK LOSES TIME, THE NAV AND RADIO SCREEN BLACKS OUT, AND THE STABILITY TRAK SERVICE LIGHT COMES ON. THEY "FIXED" THE WATER LEAK BY EXTENDING THE DRAIN HOSES ON THE SUNROOF. ALL OF THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WERE FOUND TO BE RELATED TO THE LEAKS IN THE SUNROOF. ON SEPT. 18THE OF THE SAME YEAR, I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE A RECALL ON THE SUNROOF DRAINS PERFORMED. I ADVISED THAT I WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME ELECTRICAL ISSUES. A DIMMER SWITCH WAS ORDERED. ON FEB. 20, 2012 I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND HEARD A FAINT PINGING NOISE LIKE A DYING SMOKE ALARM EMITTING FROM THE PASSENGER DASH AREA. I TOOK IT TO A GMC CENTER AND WAS TOLD THAT WATER HAD LEAKED BEHIND THE DASH, CAUSING CORROSION AND A SHORT IN THE IP FUSE BOX. I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $1,000 TO HAVE THE LEAK SEALED (DESIGN FLAW) AND HAD TO HAVE A NEW ELECTRICAL BLOCK INSTALLED. I CALLED AND COMPLAINED TO GM THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR DAMAGE THAT RESULTED FROM 1) A POOR DESIGN AND 2) DAMAGE THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED SINCE I HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TWICE ON PRIOR LEAKS WHICH WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED. IT HAS BEEN THREE WEEKS AND I AM STILL GETTING THE RUN AROUND FROM GM. NOW THEY CLAIM IT WASN'T THE SUNROOF LEAKING, BUT THE DOOR. A LEAK IS A LEAK AND IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHECKED ON THE PRIOR SERVICE VISITS. APPARENTLY THE LEAKING HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR QUITE SOMETIME. I SEE THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME BAD EXPERIENCE. ONE NICE DAY DRIVING IN TOWN, I MUST HAVE RUN OVER A NAIL OR SOME OTHER SHARP ITEM. WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, I HEARD A HISSING NOISE. I PULLED INTO A FLAT PARKING LOT TO INVESTIGATE - SUSPECTING I HAD A LEAKING FRONT PASSENGER TIRE BY THE WAY THE GMC ACADIA WAS DRIVING. I REMOVED THE JACK AND SPARE FROM THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND ALSO THE MANUAL FROM THE GLOVE BOX. FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS NOT ONLY PRINTED ON THE JACK, IN THE MANUAL, BUT ALSO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE - I PLACED THE JACK, MADE SURE IT WAS STEADY, AND PROCEEDED TO JACK THE TRUCK UP. THE JACK COLLAPSED UNDER THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS SET. I TOOK EVERY SAFETY PRECAUTION ESPECIALLY BECAUSE MY SONS WERE WITH ME AND THEY ARE TEENAGERS (NEW DRIVERS) SO I WAS TRYING TO EMPHASIZE THE SAFETY ISSUES - LUCKY FOR ME !!!! THEY ARE THE ONES THAT YELLED THAT THE TRUCK WAS COMING DOWN. THE DESIGN OF THE JACK REQUIRES AT LEAST YOUR ARMS TO BE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE TO JACK IT UP WHICH IS VERY UNSAFE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, I DON'T EVER WORK UNDERNEATH A VEHICLE UNLESS THERE IS SOMEONE ELSE CAPABLE STANDING BY. THE ENTIRE JACK WAS BENT SIDEWAYS - UNUSABLE. MY OPINION IS THAT THE JACK POINTS ON THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK ARE CORRECT; HOWEVER, THE MATERIAL THAT THE JACKS ARE MADE FROM IS SUBPAR. ALTHOUGH THE DEALER REPLACED THE JACK FREE OF CHARGE -- I WON'T USE IT. I COULD HAVE LOST MY RIGHT ARM THE LAST TIME UNDER IDEAL CIRCUMSTANCES. 03/01/2008 - 16,000 I WASN'T ABLE TO STEER, POWER STEERING IS COMPLETELY OUT ON THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD 12/01/2008 - 32,000 - MISFIRE IN THE 2 ENGINE CYLINDERS AND WAS MAKING LOT OF NOISE, DEALER TOOK 5 WEEKS TO FIX THE PROBLEM 06/01/2009 - 41,000 ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE MAKING NOISE AT START, HAD TO MAKE MULTIPLE TRIPS TO THE DEALER 06/01/2011 - 66,000 WATER PUMP LEAKING 03/01/2012 - 72,000 BRAKE CONTROL FAILURE 06/29/2012 - 76,000 BROKEN WAVE PLATES, EVAPORATER SOLENOID, AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE MOST OF THESE ISSUES ARE VERY COMMON IN THIS MODEL, GMC NEED TO RECALL AND FIX ONCE FOR ALL RATHER THAN WAITING ON THE ISSUE TO HAPPEN ON EACH VEHICLE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND THE GEAR ASSEMBLY WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE CONTACT NOTICED A WHINING NOISE IN THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THE POWER STEERING GEAR, PUMP AND HOSE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK. 2007 GMC ACADIA FWD POWER STEERING FAILURE. FIRST INSTANCE FEB 2008 (VEHICLE 9 MONTHS OF AGE 38K MILES), STEERING HAD A WHINE NOISE AND BECOME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN. STEERING VERY HEAVY. TOOK TO DEALER, POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED. NOV 2008 STEERING STARTING FAILING AGAIN WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. TOOK TO DEALER AND ONCE AGAIN THEY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP (MILEAGE AT 79K). FEB 2009 STEERING AGAIN STARTED FAILING WITH SAME CONDITIONS. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY NOW REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR (MILEAGE 89K). NOV 2010 STEERING BEGAN FAILING AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED ANOTHER POWER STEER GEAR REPLACED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 GMC ACADIA, MY SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE A SERIOUS MVA. ALSO CAUSING EXTENSIVE INTERIOR DAMAGE. *TR
INVOLVED IN FRONTAL COLISION WITH MAJOR DAMAGE PUSHED INTO THE DRIVERS DOOR MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO OPEN. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT INFLATE. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE BATTERY THAT IT WOULD GO DEAD EVERY SO OFTEN. THIS WAS LOOK AT BY MY DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO ISSUE. THE BATTERY WENT TOTALLY DEAD AND WE WERE UNABLE TO CALL FOR ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD TO USE MY CELL PHONE. OTHER ISSUES TODATE THE REMOTE START WORKS ONLY WHEN IT WANTS TO AND AT TIMES THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ALL OTHER STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS WILL NOT WORK. THEN START WORKING WITH OUT ANY REASON. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY, I HIT A WATER PUDDLE WITH THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL DURING A RAIN STORM AS I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A RIGHT-HAND TURN INTO A PARKING LOT. AS I BEGAN THE TURN THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. HAD I NOT SLOWED DOWN TO MAKE A TURN, I WOULD HAVE HIT A CAR IN THE PARKING LOT, BUT I WAS ABLE TO AVOID IT, BECAUSE I WAS GOING SO SLOW AT THE TIME. I HAD ALL I COULD DO, TO TURN THE WHEEL AND KEEP FROM HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I CALLED "ONSTAR" AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THEY ASKED IF I WANTED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I SAID I WOULD WAIT AWHILE AND SEE IF IT WOULD WORK LATER. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER IT WORKED, BUT WAS WHISTLING AND GROANING. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY (SUNDAY) I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG. THEY ADVISE ME TO CALL THE NEXT DAY FOR AN APPOINTMENT, WHICH I DID. IT WENT IN TO THE DEALER AT 10:30 AM THAT DAY. APPARENTLY THERE AS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT THAT PROBLEM AND THE FENDER LINER/SPLASH GUARD HAS BEEN RE-DESIGNED. A RECALL OR LETTER NOTIFYING OWNERS MAY PREVENT A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHENEVER IT RAINED, WATER CONSTANTLY LEAKED INTO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE SUN ROOF AND AFFECTED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE HEADLINER WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO SPEAK WITH THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000.
AFTER A RAINSTORM OR CONTACT WITH WATER ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE'S ROOF LEAKS TREMENDOUSLY, NEAR FRONT SUNROOF AND WINDSHIELD COLUMN ON PASSENGER SIDE, AND AROUND THE REAR SUNROOF. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED OVER 3 TIMES BY A GM DEALER UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW THE CAR IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL BE PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS, AND THE REPAIRS DON'T REALLY REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE'S INTERIOR AND AC NOW SMELLS LIKE MOLD/MILDEW, AND I AM GREATLY CONCERNED FOR THE HEALTHY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. *JB
