WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE WAS REVVING UP, BUT NOT SPEEDING UP. I WOULD TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR FOR A SECOND AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. THE GEAR WOULD SOMETIMES "CATCH" AND SOMETIMES NOT "CATCH". THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE ONE COOLING LINE WAS CORRODED AND ANOTHER WAS "SWEATING". THE TRANSMISSION, TORQUE CONVERTER, AND COOLING LINES ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED. I THINK ITS A PREMATURE TIME FOR MY VEHICLE TO NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION WITH ONLY 76K MILES AS THE VEHICLE IS WELL MAINTAINED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE SOCKETS WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED MY 2008 GMC ACADIA I HAVE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE POWER STEERING. WHEN I START TO TURN THE VEHICLE THE POWER STEERING GOES COMPLETELY OUT. IT CONTINUES TO GET WORSE DAILY. THE FIRST TIME I TOOK IT TO GM THEY TOLD ME THAT IT JUST NEEDED POWER STEERING FLUID. SO THEY FILLED IT UP. THIS DID NOTHING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT BACK FOR A SECOND TIME, AND GM SAID THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING AND WHEN MAKING A TURN IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE THE TURN. NEXT, I TOOK MY ACADIA TO A INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STEERING RACK, OR AS GM CALLS IT, THE RACK AND PINION WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I THEN SPENT AROUND $800 TO HAVE THE STEERING RACK REPLACED. I BEGAN DRIVING IT HOPING THIS WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT FIX THE STEERING PROBLEM. I TOOK THE ACADIA BACK TO GM, AND THEY LOOKED AT IT AGAIN. THEY TOLD ME THE RACK AND PINION, OR THE STEERING RACK WAS FAULTY. I TOLD THEM ABOUT REPLACING IT 3 MONTHS AGO, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT UNLESS I HAD REPLACED BOTH THE STEERING RACK AND THE PUMP AT THE SAME TIME THEN THE PART THAT WAS NOT REPLACED WOULD CAUSE THE OTHER PART TO FAIL. NEXT, I TOOK IT BACK TO THE LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND TOLD THEM WHAT GM HAD SAID. THEY LOOKED AT THE STEERING RACK THAT THEY HAD REPLACED AND TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH THE NEW PART THEY HAD REPLACED. THEY LOOKED INTO THE MANUALS AND INTERNET REPLACEMENT GUIDES FOR GM PARTS AND COULD FIND NOTHING SAYING YOU HAD TO REPLACE BOTH PARTS OR THE ONE THAT WAS NOT REPLACED WOULD FAIL. THE POWER STEERING CONTINUES TO FAIL. IT SHOULD BE RECALLED.GM WILL DO NOTHING UNLESS I REPLACE BOTH PARTS. I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE DIES TO GET GM TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HOLD THEIR COMPANY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FAULTY PARTS ON THE 2008 GMC ACADIA. *TR
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL-OVER AND GET OUT OF THE WAY OF THE HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS SITUATION THAT CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS. *TR
I WAS TURNING LEFT AT STOP LIGHT. THE TRANSMISSION FAILED TO SHIFT AND STALLED CAUSING ME TO BE STRUCK. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A FATALITY IF TRAFFIC WERE HEAVIER. I HAVE SINCE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT GM HAS HAD THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED HAD GM RECALLED A DEFECTIVE VALVE LOCATED IN THE SIDE BOX (ACCORDING TO MECHANIC AT GM DEALER THIS IS WHY I STALLED OUT). I AM SEEKING AN ATTORNEY FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. *TR
APPROXIMATELY THE FIRST OF NOVEMBER 2013, I HAD PICKED UP MY MOM TO GO SHOPPING WITH ME AND I VERY SELDOM HAVE A PASSENGER WITH ME AND HAPPEN TO LOOK UP AND NOTICE THE LIGHT ON THE AIRBAG LIGHT THAT SAYS ON OR OFF WAS OFF !!! SHE WEIGHS ABOUT 135# AND SO I NOTICED WE WENT INTO THE STORE AND CAME OUT AND IT THEN REGISTERED ON!!! SO I WATCHED THIS FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS AND IT CONTINUED!! SOMETIMES ON AND SOMETIMES OFF! SO WHEN I WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AT BERGSTROMS I HAD THEM CHECK IT OUT AND THEY SAID IT COULD BE CORROSION ON THE PLUGS UNDER THE SEAT BUT THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM! SO THEY SAID WITH A BIG MAN IN IT REGISTERED LIKE AN INFANT SITTING THERE! SAID IT WOULD COST $800 TO REPLACE IT!!! THIS CAR IS IN LIKE NEW CONDITION AND I DO NOT HAVE A DAILY PASSENGER! I'M THINKING THAT MAY HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE SINCE DAY ONE!!! THANK GOD I DIDN'T GET IN A COLLISION AND LOSE A LOVED ONE ! THIS WOULD BE A HUGE LAWSUIT!!!! I AM GONNA SEE IF GMC WILL PAY FOR THIS FIX! WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, I FELT WATER DRIP FROM OVERHEAD AND HEARD SLOSHING NOISES. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, WATER BEGAN LEAKING FROM AIRBAG INDICIA. THOUGH THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND KEY REMOVED, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN. IMAGINE HOW UNSAFE TO TURN OFF A VEHICLE, REMOVE THE KEY AND THE ENGINE TO REMAIN RUNNING. BEFORE I COULD GET TO SERVICE, THE TEMPERATURE PLUMMETED TO BELOW ZERO, AND I COULD NOT GET THE DEFROSTER TO WORK. I SCRAPED THE INTERIOR OF THE WINDOWS, BUT WITHOUT HEAT, FOGGED AGAIN. ZERO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER SAID THERE WERE MULTIPLE POINTS WHERE WATER WAS SEEPING INTO THE CAR, WREAKING HAVOC WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INCLUDING HVAC, DEFROSTER. SERVICE TECH SAID THERE WAS "BLOWER MOWER" FAILURE. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE HAD SAME PROBLEMS AS GMC ACADIA CAMPAIGN 08207, WITH FAILURE OF SUNROOF PART 25930220, WHICH AFFECTED LIMITED VIN NUMBERS. WE ALSO DISCOVERED THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING FROM THE WATER DAMAGE TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE CURRENT STATUS OF THIS GETTING REPAIRED IS UNKNOWN -- OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS! IN ADDITION, I HAD NOTICED FLOOR MATS BEING DAMP, BUT ASSUMED A CONSEQUENCE OF THE SNOW AND RAIN. I AM CONVINCED THAT THE LEAK/DAMP FLOOR MATS IS REASON FOR THE MILDEW/MOLD SMELL. EACH OF THESE PROBLEMS ARE WELL DOCUMENTED IN THEIR TSBS. I WAS ALSO SHOCKED TO FIND SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS! PLEASE, PLEASE REVIEW THE CORRELATION BETWEEN TSBS ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURES AND REPAIRS TO THE LEAKING HOSE. OF COURSE, GMC DENIES THIS IS THEIR PROBLEM, AND SAYS REPAIRS WILL ALL BE AT MY EXPENSE. FINALLY, I AM NOT THE FIRST PERSON TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM! SURELY, THE FACT THAT I (AND MANY, MANY OTHERS) ARE HAVING THE EXACT LEAK PROBLEMS AS REFERENCED IN GMC CAMPAIGN 08207 INDICATES THAT PROBLEM WENT BEYOND THOSE VIN#S. THEY ARE HIDING A BIG PROBLEM. AT LOW SPEED, POWER STEERING SEEMED TO GO OUT WHILE IN PARKING LOT. THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO MANAGE WITH A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END. SHUTTING OFF AND BACK ON, STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. TOOK IT IN FOR SERVICE AT GM DEALERSHIP IN EVANSVILLE, IN FOR DIAGNOSIS AND RESPONSE WAS THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP, FLUID AND STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. INVESTIGATION ONLINE TURNED UP INFORMATION THAT THIS IS A RELATIVELY COMMON OCCURRENCE BUT GM WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AS IT WAS OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. *TR
DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHT WENT OUT AND THE SOCKET AND HOUSING MELTED. *TR
CONTACTED LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP TODAY (10/27/14) ASKING ABOUT RECENT AIRBAG RECALL AND WHY WE HAVEN'T RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER. I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED AS: PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON/OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE ADULT MALE (180 LB)/ADULT FEMALE (140 LB)/TEENAGE BOY (120 LB) ARE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. NOW A SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE IS ALSO DISPLAYED. THE GMC DEALERSHIP STATED MY VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL, YET THE SYMPTOMS MY VEHICLE EXHIBIT ARE THE SAME AS OTHER VEHICLES COVERED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL. AFTER RESEARCH, IT IS EVIDENT THAT ALL 2008 GMC ACADIAS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE AIRBAG SYSTEM RECALL(S). *TR
WAVE PLATE TRANSMISSION FAILURE 2 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE AND 5 MONTHS AFTER WARRANTY. SO DISGUSTED!!! *TR
I WAS DRIVING BY MYSELF WITH MY 3 CHILDREN WHEN MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. I HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL MAINTENANCE AND EVEN HAD A TRANSMISSION FLUSH DONE 4 MONTHS AGO, JUST TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION GO ANYWAY. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT HELP (THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD) BUT SAID IT WAS IN SERVICE IN 2007, SO NO WARRANTY COVERAGE. THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO ONE WILLING TO DO THE DECENT OR RIGHT THING. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. WE HAVE FOUR CHILDREN SO WE NEED THIS CAR. WE CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE SOMETHING FIXED THAT IS AN OBVIOUS ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING THIS. THIS TRULY IS AN ISSUE THAT GMC SHOULD BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR. *TR
INTERMITTENT "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT. STARTED COMING ON IN LATE OCTOBER OF 2013. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED ON OCTOBER 17, 2013. FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS, THE INDICATOR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. *TR
HAD A COMPLAINT WITH THE TRANSMISSION NOT DOWNSHIFTING ADEQUATELY ON 10-25-2010 AND COURTESY GMC REPROGRAMMED IT ... UNDER WARRANTY. FOR ABOUT A WEEK PRIOR TO 10-22-13 THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVING RIGHT WITH THE SHIFTING ACTING UP SO I BROUGHT IT IN AND AS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF GETTING MY CAR TO A SERVICE CAR CENTER IT WOULD QUIT RUNNING, BUT I GOT IT IN THE SHOP IN TIME BEFORE IT STOPPED FOR A THIRD TIME. IT ACTED UP ON HIGHWAY 90 WHILE DOING 57MPH AND AGAIN AT DOING 45MPH AND WHEN I SLOWED DOWN TO TURN INTO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE SERVICE CENTER (DAVE'S), AFTER CHECKING IT OUT, BROUGHT IT IN TO A-ABAL TRANSMISSION FOR ME SINCE I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT IN CASE IT DIDN'T MAKE IT. MY TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT ($4205) AT MY EXPENSE (HAD MULTIPLE BROKEN PARTS) SINCE MY WARRANTY WAS UP IN MARCH. CALLS WERE MADE TO GMC WITH NO AID IN HELPING ME WITH THIS PROBLEM. UPON RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT THE ACADIA'S TRANSMISSIONS HAVE BEEN KNOWN TO BREAKDOWN BETWEEN 50,000-70,000 MILES IN CARS PURCHASED IN THE FOLLOWING YEARS ... '07, '08 AND '09 (A PROBLEM THEY KNEW ABOUT). THE COMPLAINT LIST IS LONG. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY GMC HAS NOT STOOD BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT SINCE IT HAS PLACED CONSUMERS IN DANGEROUS SITUATIONS (READ MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS). *TR
WHILE GETTING REPAIRS FOR MY 35R WAVE PLATE (ODI 10550736), THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. LIKE THE 35R WAVE PLATE, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ACADIA. I WAS TOLD THAT IF I DID NOT REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER, EVENTUALLY, THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL. *TR
I NOTICED THAT THE GEARS FELT LIKE THEY WERE SLIPPING. RPMS WOULD GO UP BY 1000-1500, THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD ENGAGE IN GEAR. I NOTICED THIS VERY SPORADICALLY A FEW DAYS BEFORE I TOOK THE CAR IN, BUT IT STEADILY GOT WORSE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND PARKED THE CAR UNTIL MY SERVICE APPOINTMENT EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE CAR. AFTER MAKING THE SERVICE APPOINTMENT, I RESEARCHED ACADIA TRANSMISSION ISSUES ON THE WEB, AND FOUND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 35R WAVE PLATE. TURNED OUT THIS WAS THE SOURCE OF MY ISSUE AS WELL. TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE COMPLETELY DIS-ASSEMBLED TO CLEAN OUT THE DEBRIS. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A 5.5 YEAR OLD CAR WITH LESS THAN 80K MILES TO NEED ITS TRANSMISSION REBUILT. GIVEN THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE 35R WAVE PLATE, PLEASE OPEN AN INVESTIGATION FOR A RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS ON THE HIGHWAY AND I PRESSED ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE BECAUSE THERE WAS A SLIGHT INCLINE ON THE ROUTE I WAS TRAVELING. WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL, THERE WAS NO ACCELERATION AND I GOT NERVOUS THAT IT MIGHT BE THE ALTERNATOR. HOWEVER, I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT WANT TO PICK UP SPEED. I EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS AND WAS MAKING WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A WHIRRING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I DROVE THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT TO MY MECHANIC'S SHOP. HE WAS SURPRISED TO FIND OUT THAT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION AS THE VEHICLE IS ROUTINELY SERVICED. IT APPEARS THAT THE WAVE PLATE FAILED AND THERE WAS DEBRIS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
TRANSMISSION FAILURE - WAVE PLATE BROKEN FORCING VEHICLE TO BE STUCK IN ONE GEAR AND FAIL IN REVERSE, 3RD AND 4TH GEARS. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SLIPS IN REVERSE, 3RD AND 4TH. MULTIPLE OWNERS REPORT SAME ISSUES AND RECALL IS NEEDED BY GM ON THE ACADIA TRANSMISSION. *TR
MY ACADIA (WHICH I JUST BOUGHT IN MARCH) BEGAN SHIFTING HARSHLY BETWEEN THE 3RD AND 5TH GEARS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHERE I HAD THE CODES READ AND WAS TOLD I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE 35R WAVEPLATE AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $600 JUST TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION TAKEN APART TO DIAGNOSE THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD THAT A DRUM CAME APART CAUSING "EXTENSIVE DAMAGE" AND THAT I WOULD EITHER NEED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION REBUILD FOR $3600 OR A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR $4000. THIS CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT (ALTHOUGH I KNOW THAT IS HIGH FOR THE YEAR, A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION FOR A FAIRLY NEW CAR IS EXTREME). I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT THIS IS EXTREMELY COMMON FOR THE 08 ACADIAS AND IT WAS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THIS PARTICULAR CAR TO GO THROUGH SEVERAL TRANSMISSIONS BEFORE REACHING THE 100,000 MILE MARK. THIS IS A JOKE. GMC NEEDS TO RECALL THE CAR AND PAY THE COSTS OF THE MANY OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO REPAIR A PART THAT SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN PUT IN THE CAR IN THE FIRST PLACE! *TR
HAD A DIFFICULT TIME GETTING APPT. TO FIX AIRBAG WHICH WAS RECALLED. WHEN THEY FIXED IT, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS STILL ON, SO THEY SAID THAT I HAVE TO PAY THE $600.00 TO REPAIR THE SIDE AIRBAG. I HAVE READ ONLINE ABOUT INNUMERABLE PROBLEMS WITH THE ACADIA 2008 AIRBAGS, JUST LIKE MINE. YOU GO IN TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED AND THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE OTHER AIRBAGS. I AM GOING TO CONSULT AN ATTORNEY ABOUT A CLASS ACTION SUIT SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY OF US WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM. IT'S RIDICULOUS TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO KEEP YOU SAFE BUT IN ACTUALITY MAY HARM YOU IF IT IS NOT TAKEN CARE OF. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2008 GMC ACADIA ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY GAVE OUT AND SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. SHE WAS IN THE FAST LANE TRAVELING 70 MPH IN THE FAST LANE. SHE HAD TO FIGHT THROUGH TRAFFIC TO GET OVER TO THE SHOULDER SO SHE COULD PULL OFF THE FREEWAY ENOUGH TO AVOID GETTING HIT BY OTHER CARS TRAVELING THE FREEWAY. SHE THEN HAD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITH OUR CHILDREN DURING HIGH TRAFFIC TIME. VERY UNSAFE SITUATION FOR A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 69K MILES ON IT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2007 AND 2008 LAMBDA PLATFORM VEHICLES. GMC KNOWS ABOUT THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE THAT WAS NOT HEAT TREATED DURING THE BUILDING OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS. SEARCH THE WEB OR EVEN FORUMS FOR 3-5-R WAVE PLATE FAILURE AND SEE WHAT COMES UP. I FEEL THEY SHOULD ATLEAST EXTEND THE WARRANTY IF NOT RECALL THIS TRANSMISSION BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS HURT OR KILLED WHEN ONE GOES OUT IN TRAFFIC. *TR
WE BOUGHT VEHICLE FROM HENDRICK TOYOTA ON 6/15/2013. MY WIFE BEGAN DRIVING TO WORK WHEN IT COMPLETELY STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS TOLD TO ME THAT THE WAVE PLATE IN THESE VEHICLES WAS KNOWN TO FAIL AND AFTER RESEARCH AND A TECHNICIANS AFFIRMATION, APPARENTLY GMC NEVER TEMPERED THIS PARTICULAR PART AND HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE ISSUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME. AGAIN, AFTER RESEARCHING, I'VE SEEN COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS/ISSUES OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING AND THAT GM AND THEIR SERVICE AND CUSTOMER SATISFACTION DEPARTMENTS QUITE SIMPLY EXPLAIN IT AWAY AS "WELL, THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO" DESPITE, WHAT APPEARS TO BE, CLEAR EVIDENCE THAT THIS MAJOR POWER TRAIN PROBLEM HAS BEEN COMPLETELY IGNORED. WHILE SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON, NOTING THAT THE AIRBAG IS NO LONGER ACTIVATED. A MESSAGE WILL ALSO COME UP ON THE DRIVER'S MESSAGING SCREEN STATING TO SERVICE AIRBAG. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT IN, I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED A NEW SOFTWARE MODULE FOR MY VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A CHANCE THAT IF WE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT THE PASSENGER AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A 5-6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE SHOULD ALREADY NEED ITS AIRBAG MODULE REPLACED.
DRIVING GMC ACADIA TO MY SONS BASEBALL GAME AND THE CAR JERKED FORWARD, SO I IMMEDIATELY SLOWED DOWN. CONTINUED TO DRIVE AND THE CAR BASICALLY WOULD NOT GET OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THE RPM'S KEPT GOING UP AND NEVER CAME DOWN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 40 MPH WHILE THE ENGINE WAS GEARING UP. THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY SHOT. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE REPAIRED. GMC HAS TONS OF 2007 AND 2008 ACADIA'S WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND ARE FORCING CUSTOMERS TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THE WAVE PLATE WAS SHOT ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE TRANSMISSION. ON MY BILL THEY PUT N/C IN ALL THE PARTS AND LABOR AND THEN JUST PLUGGED IN AN AMOUNT IN A LINE ITEM CALLED " MISC CUSTOMER DEDUCTIBLE" NO ONE WILL EXPLAIN THE CHARGE. DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE GMC CALCULATES THE CHARGE AND GMC TOLD ME TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP. THEY ARE GIVING PEOPLE A "DISCOUNT" OF SOME SORT SO THEY CLEARLY KNOW THEY HAVE AN ISSUE BUT THEY SHOULD BE FOOTING THE ENTIRE BILL. MY CAR IS 30,000 MILES UNDER THE WARRANTY AND 28 DAYS OVER THE 5 YEARS AND IT COST ME OVER $1,200 TO FIX IT WHEN THEY PUT IN A DEFECTIVE PART AND THEY KNOW IT. *TR
MY 2008 ACADIA TRANSMISSION FAILED AS I EXITED A HIGHWAY (70 MPH) AND WAS GOING UP THE EXIT RAMP. IT BEGAN BUCKING LIKE A HORSE. ONCE I PULLED OVER AND PARKED, I COULD NOT GO IN REVERSE. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED AND A NEW TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE PUT IN IT AFTER ONLY 56K MILES. ALSO HAVE HAD THE SUNROOF / MOON ROOF TRAYS OVERFLOW BECAUSE THE DRAINAGE TUBES ARE NOT LARGE ENOUGH TO DRAIN ALL THE WATER FROM THE TRAYS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT WAS A POOR DESIGN AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE TO REPLACE IT. NOW WATER HAS ENTERED MY VEHICLE CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL BOX TO BECOME WET CAUSING THE HORN TO BLOW RANDOMLY AND THE CAR TO CONTINUE RUNNING AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY. *TR

FOR SEVERAL WEEK I HAVE BEEN HAVING POWER STEERING PROBLEMS WITH THE GMC ACADIA. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAD A "NOISY" POWER STEERING SINCE NEW AND I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERIVCE PERSONAL SAID THAT GMC WAS AWARE OF ISSUES BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE A "FIX". THE VEHICLE IS EXTREMLY HARD TO TURN A LOW SPEED AS IF THE POWER STEER IS NOT FUNCTIONING. MY WIFE IS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE STRENGTH REQUIRE TO TURN THE WHEEL AND I WILL NOT ALLOW HER TO DRIVE IT WITH OUR CHILDREN DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS PAST WEEKEND I WENT OFF THE ROAD (OVER THE CURB) WHILE TURNING INTO A SUBDIVISION SINCE THE STEERING SEEMED TO "LOCK UP". I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS ON THE INTERNET OF THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. HE FURTHER STATED THE WAVE PLATE COULD ONLY BE REPLACE WITH ANOTHER ONE THAT IS ALSO SUCCEPTABLE TO FAILURE. UPON REPAIR OF THE PROBLEM, THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE TRANSMISSION WAVE PLATE WAS CRACKED HOWEVER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. *JS

IT IS BELIEVED THE VEHICLE HAS A BROKEN 35R WAVE PLATE AND NEED TO TARE DOWN TO INSPECT OR REPLACE TRANSMISSION AT ONLY 63,000 MILES. EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE REFER TO GMC ACADIA FORUMS ONLINE EVERYWHERE FOR OTHER VICTIMS). *JS

MY WIFE WAS TRANSPORTING TWO YOUNG CHILDREN AT THE TIME AT HAD TO TURN HAZARDS ON WHILE THE VEHICLE CREPT UP A VERY HEAVILY TRAVELED ROADWAY (US HIGHWAY 31). TURNS OUT IT IS TRANSMISSION FAILURE, WHICH I HAVE SINCE LEARNED IS VERY COMMON WITH THIS MODEL. AFTER READING VAST ENTRIES OF MANY OTHER ACADIA USERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK THAT THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW. I MEAN, HOW MANY TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AT 48,000 MILES. I'M JUST GLAD MY WIFE WASN'T DRIVING AT NIGHT, ON A LONG TRIP, OR ON THE INTERSTATE, WHICH WOULD HAVE LEFT MY CHILDREN AND HER IN A VERY VULNERABLE POSITION. FOR THE PRICE OF THIS VEHICLE, I WOULD EXPECT RELIABLE USAGE UP TO AT LEAST 100,000 MILES. GM RECTIFIED THE PROBLEM BY USING NEW PARTS IN 2009 AND NEWER MODELS. GM SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL. VEHICLE BEGINS TO SLOW DOWN AND FINALLY JERKS INTO THE NEXT GEAR CAUSING RAPID ACCELERATION. THIS ISSUE ALMOST CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AFTER PULLING OFF FROM A STOPLIGHT. IT IS EXTREMELY SCARY TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE CAR, BUT WITH THIS BEING MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I MUST WORK, I AM FORCED TO DRIVE DAILY. WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED 5 MONTHS AGO IN MARCH AND I CANNOT AFFORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM (MARCH 24, 2013, 5 YEAR/100,000 MI. POWERTRAIN). VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED MARCH 24, 2008. *TR
