PURCHASED 2008 ACADIA IN MARCH 2012. EIGHT (8) MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE WHILE DRIVING WITH INFANT SON IN VEHICLE, WITHOUT ANY WARNING OR LIGHTS THE CAR LOST ALL POWER. LUCKILY, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT DIDN'T OCCUR. THE TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. THE CAUSE WAS A BROKEN 3-5 WAVEPLATE, THE TRANSMISSION HAD HEAT DAMAGE, AND MATERIAL THROUGHOUT. OUR LOCAL GMC DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT REMOVED, TORN DOWN, AND OVERHAULED THE TRANSMISSION. THIS SERVICE WAS COVERED UNDER A 5 YEAR 100,000MI WARRANTY. IT HAS BEEN 1 YEAR AND THE TRANSMISSION IS SLOW TO CHANGE GEARS AND SHAKING RUMBLING AT 20MPH AND 40MPH. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER THEY WERE UNABLE TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR 4 DAYS, THE CAR IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD IT NEEDS $4,900.00 OF WORK. THE CAUSE OF THE SHAKE AND RUMBLE DURING ACCELERATION IS THE FAILURE OF THE TORQUE CONVERTER ($2,000). THE TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED WITH A REMANUFACTURED TORQUE CONVERTER, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT 13 MONTHS AGO. WHEN I ASKED GM TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER, I WAS TOLD I WAS LUCKY IT LASTED MORE THAN 12,000MI. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH GM. THE TRANSMISSIONS ARE DEFECTIVE AND THE ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE, THEY PUT A BAND AID ON THE CAR UNTIL IT PASSED 100,000MI,AND NO LONGER COVERED BY WARRANTY AND NOW THE CONSUMERS PROBLEM. I DO NOT CONSIDER MYSELF LUCKY THAT MY CAR SPENT 7 DAYS IN THE SHOP LAST NOVEMBER AND NOW HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 4 DAYS WITH NO END IN SIGHT, FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED THE DRIVER NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES EMMITING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTO SHOP. THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,000.
I HAVE A 2008 ACADIA AND IT JUST STALLS OUT FOR NO REASON. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM AND GMC -ACCORDING TO THE DEALER DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THIS WIDE SPREAD ISSUE. THE DEALER AND GMC CAN'T TELL ME WHAT IS CAUSING IT AND THEY GIVE ME THE VEHICLE BACK AND SAY IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT IN AND WE WILL LOOK AT IT BUT THEY CAN NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I FEAR GETTING IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I NEVER KNOW IF IT IS GOING TO JUST STALL OUT ON ME WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT COULD HEAR A CLICKING NOISE NEAR THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ON MY GMC ACADIA HAS COME ON MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY AFTER ADDING BRAKE FLUID TO THE MASTER CYLINDER. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC ACADIA'S, WHERE THE MASTER CYLINDER LEAKS BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY RISK, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE BRAKING ABILITY AND AT ONE POINT, THE BRAKE BOOSTER IS NOT GOING TO WORK DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS FILLED WITH BRAKE FLUID. GM NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS ... NOT JUST SAY THAT THEY ARE THE "NEW" GM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
POWER STEERING IS FAILING, THIS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM ACROSS THE ENTIRE GM "LAMBDA" PLATFORM AND SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL. AFFECTED PARTS ARE THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND STEERING RACK, CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM ACCORDING TO GM WAS USE OF INCORRECT FLUID FROM THE FACTORY. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE PUMP AND THE RACK ($2,000) AND UPGRADE THE FLUID TO DEXTRON VI. FOR GM TO EXPECT OUT OF WARRANTY CUSTOMERS TO BE ON THE HOOK FOR THE HIGH COST OF THIS REPAIR IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR AND UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
ON THE FIRST OCCURRENCE I WAS STARTING TO ACCELERATE TO ABOUT 20 MPH AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO STEER MY CAR OFF THE HIGHWAY AND JUST MISSED HITTING A TREE AND GOING IN A DITCH AND MY 2 CHILDREN WERE IN THE BACK SEAT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP BUT THERE WERE NO ERROR CODES SHOWING ON THEIR COMPUTER. I HAVE SINCE HAD THIS HAPPEN 4 MORE TIMES AND THE LAST TIME ALMOST ENDED IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I HAD THE CAR TOWED AGAIN FOR THE 5TH TIME TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE POWER STEERING FINALLY WENT OUT ON THEM WHILE THEY WERE TEST DRIVING MY CAR. HOWEVER, THE COMPUTER STILL DID NOT SHOW ANY ERROR CODES AFTER THIS HAPPENED. AS OF TODAY, WHICH IS 3 WEEKS LATER, I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES EVENTHOUGH THE POWER STEERING KEEPS FAILING ON THEM. I AM FRUSTRATED AND AGGRAVATED AND AFTER READING ONLINE AT HOW MANY OTHER DRIVERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE I AM DISGUSTED THAT GM HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO FIX THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. *TR
WHILE IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE, I WAS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT AND HAPPENED TO LOOK UP AND SAW WATER/ RAIN TRICKLING OUT FROM AROUND THE REAR INTERIOR OVERHEAD LIGHT, IT WAS ALSO COMING IN AROUND THE SENSOR IN THE OVERHEAD. THE TRICKLE EVENTUALLY SLOWED DOWN TO A DRIP. IN MY OPINION, WATER AND ELECTRICITY DON'T MIX. *TR
MY FRIENDS AND I LEFT A STORE AND WAS PULLING OUT ONTO A BUSY ROUTE. SPEED LIMIT IS POSTED AS 45 MPH. I WAS IDLING AT THE STOP SIGN WAITING FOR A VEHICLE TO PASS. WHEN IT DID I PULLED OUT INTO TRAFFIC. I GENTLY PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THAT IS WHEN I FELT THE TRUCK JERK AND THEN THE PEDAL WAS FLOORED!!! I WAS NOT DOING THIS!!!! I WAS IN AMONGST THE TRAFFIC, TRYING TO DODGE OTHERS, AND THEN I TRIED TO TURN MY TRUCK OFF. I COULDN'T DO IT. IT WAS NOT ALLOWING ME TO AND THE SPEED HAD INCREASED DRAMATICALLY!!! I REACHED DOWN AND WAS MESSING WITH THE ACCELERATOR HOPING TO PULL IT UP FROM THE FLOOR. THE ACCELERATOR WAS COMPLETELY PRESSED INTO THE FLOOR AS IF SOMEONE GLUED IT THERE. I CROSSED OVER 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TRYING TO DODGE VEHICLES AND TRYING TO PREVENT A CRASH. I FINALLY MANAGED TO FREE THE ACCELERATOR. IT FREAKS ME OUT WHEN I DRIVE NOW,. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2008 GMC ACADIA ON 9/22/11. THE FOLLOWING SUMMER ON AUGUST 25, 2012 THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE ON VACATION. IT WAS TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THE WAVE PLATE AND SNAP RING WERE BROKEN. THEY REPLACED THE CLUTCH HOUSING, ALL PISTONS, ALL FIBERS, REPLACED SIDE COVER AND PISTONS AND SEALS AND SPRINGS. THEY REPLACED CONTROL VALVE BODY SPACER PLATE AND TOM SOLENOID GASKET SCREEN. THE VEHICLE HAD 73,730 MILES ON IT. SINCE THEN I HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE HEADLIGHTS TWICE, THE BATTERY ONCE. MY DASH LIGHTS ONLY WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO AND MY WINDSHIELD SPRAYER STOPPED WORKING. TO TOP IT OFF MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AGAIN JUST THE OTHER DAY!!!! IT'S NOVEMBER 10TH 2014 WITH 119,000 MILES AND I'M ALREADY NEEDING TO HAVE ANOTHER TRANSMISSION!?!? THIS VEHICLE IS JUNK, AND I STILL OWE A TON OF MONEY.....SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT TOWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER. THE PROBLEM RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO AGREED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND STATED THAT A HOSE THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE RACK AND PINION AND STEERING PUMP MAY HAVE COLLAPSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE APPROXIMATELY WAS 68,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TRANSMISSION FAILED WITH DEFECTIVE SWASH PLATES. STUCK IN GEAR AND WOULD NOT GO INTO TO REVERSE. COMMON ISSUE WITH 2008 ACADIA AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. LUCKILY TRANSMISSION DID NOT STICK IN GEAR ON FREEWAY THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHOOK, STALLED, AND SHUT OFF. THE STABILITY AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, AND RESTARTED IT AFTER A COUPLE OF MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO RESET THE "STABILITY AND TRACTION CONTROLS", BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE DRL WENT OUT AND WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO BE REPLACED. THEY SAID THE HOUSING AROUND THE WIRING/LIGHT HAD MELTED AND WE WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE HOUSING AT A COST OF $1,100. THEY STATED IT WAS A FIRE HAZARD. I AM OUT OF WARRANTY AND SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY VEHICLE! WHEN I WAS IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW VEHICLE I NEW I WANTED THE ACADIA. I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME CUSTOMER AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE LOT THEY HAD JUST BROUGHT IN A 2008 THAT HAD ONE OWNER. I WAS ECSTATIC BECAUSE IT WAS EVERYTHING I COULD WANT AND NOT AS EXPENSIVE AS A 2012. WHEN I FIRST STARTED DRIVING IT WAS GREAT I LOVED IT! I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH 8,000 OR SO MILES ON IT AND AS TIME WENT ON I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT IT WASN'T DRIVING LIKE IT DID THE FIRST DAY I BOUGHT IT. I DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK 5 DAYS WEEK ROUGHLY 35 MILES A DAY. I WAS IN TOWN AT THE BANK AND AS I STARTED TO PULL OUT INTO THE LANE MY RPM'S WENT SKY HIGH AND WOULDN'T COME BACK DOWN AND I COULD NOT ACCELERATE. I WAS SO SCARED I PULLED OVER IN THE NEXT AVAILABLE SPOT AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. I WAITED FOR 5 MINUTES, TURNED IT BACK ON AND PROCEEDED TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC. EVER SINCE THAT DAY MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP TWICE FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I CURRENTLY HAVE 29,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT DRIVES LIKE CRAP! I HAVE IT ALIGNED, TIRES ROTATED, AND I CANNOT GET A SMOOTH RIDE. THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIES OVER 50 MPH, SHIMMIES WHEN I HIT THE BREAKS, MY HEATER DOESN'T SEEM TO WORK WELL UNLESS IT IS ON 85 WAY TOO HOT. I NOW HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK INTO THE SHOP YET AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING TRANSMISSION FAILURE, ALIGNMENT OFF, AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE. I READ A LOT REVIEWS ON THIS MODEL AND SEEMS AS THOUGH WE HAVE ALL EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE BEEN A LONG TIME PONTIAC/GMC BUYER AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM FOR NOT TAKING THIS TRANSMISSION THING SERIOUS. HOW MANY MORE COMPLAINTS DO YOU NEED TO RECEIVE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? I BOUGHT MY GMC ACADIA IN FEBRUARY AND HAVE HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP I KNOW 15+ TIMES. EVERYTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. IT STARTED OFF THAT IT WAS THE STABILITY TRACK AND STABILITY CONTROL CENSORS, THEN IT WENT TO BOTH REAR WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACE, BYPASSING THE WIRING (BECAUSE GM) TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO BYPASS THE FACTORY WIRING AND BUILD A NEW HARNESS FOR THE WIRING, SEVERAL OTHER THINGS WRONG, AND NOW THE TRANSMISSION!!!! WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT!!! SO MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING MAJOR ISSUES WITH THE ACADIA. NOT DEPENDABLE NOR SAFE FOR ME NOR MY FAMILY!!!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE PARKED, THE CONTACT NOTICED WATER HAD ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM UNDER THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND THE OVERHEAD LIGHT COMPARTMENT, FLOODING THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER IT RAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
3.5.R WAVED CLUTCH PLATE FAILURE IN 2008 GMC ACADIA 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. ENGINE IN REDUCED POWER MODE. CALL TO ONSTAR - DIAGNOSTICS - TRANSMISSION ISSUES. NO REVERSE GEAR. LIMITED FORWARD GEARS. *TR
MY ACADIA'S TRANSMISSION FAILED (THE 3, 5, R WAVE PLATE) WHILE 4 HOURS FROM HOME. IT HAS NOW BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 22 DAYS ... THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN TAKEN OUT 3 TIMES AND STILL CAN'T "GET IT RIGHT". THIS IS A HUGE MESS THAT GM HAS NOT HANDLED WELL AT ALL. THEY WILL NOT LET THE DEALERSHIP PUT A NEW TRANSMISSION IN IT. THEY CAN'T TELL ME WHEN MY CAR WILL EVEN BE READY ... THERE ARE 4 OTHER ACADIA'S AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM .... DRIVING VEHICLE AT 30MPH NORTH BOUND. STARTED MAKING RIGHT TURN (STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT) LOSS OF POWER STEERING. *TR
POWER STEERING WILL STOP WORKING FOR SEVERAL SECONDS DURING TURNS ESPECIALLY AT SLOW SPEEDS OR WHEN TURNING IN OR OUT OF PARKING SPACES. VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. *TR
I REPLACED THE DRIVER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP AND 8 DAYS LATER REPLACED PASSENGER SIDE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMP. THE LAST BULB REPLACED WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND NOW IS BURNED OUT AGAIN LESS THAN THREE WEEKS LATER. THERE IS EVIDENCE ON BOTH BULB CONNECTORS OF OVERHEATING. DIELECTRIC GREASE HAS BEEN USED EVERYTIME BULBS HAVE BEEN CHANGED THROUGH OUT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, ANY TIME THERE IS OVERHEATING ON AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT FURTHER PROBLEMS COULD ARISE. THERE IS A FACTORY RECALL ON OTHER YEAR MODELS BUT NOT ON THE 2008 GMC ACADIA SLT-2 HAVING EVERY BELL & WHISTLE ALONG WITH HIGHER PRICE TAG THAN LESSER TRIM PACKAGES. *TR
I OWN A GMC ACADIA 2008 THAT STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS ONE YEAR AGO (JULY 2012), I WAS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN AUSTIN, TX AND HAD MY THREE YOUNG DAUGHTERS WITH ME WHEN I STARTED NOTICING I COULDN'T ACCELERATE VERY WELL. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND PRESSED THE GAS AND STARTED TO MOVE THEN WITHOUT THE WARNING THE CAR STOPPED RUNNING. IT FELT LIKE THE CAR HAD BEEN PUSHED INTO NEUTRAL, THE MOTOR WOULD REV BUT IT WOULD NOT GO ANYWHERE. TOOK IT TO THE GM DEALER. I WAS TOLD IT WAS ALL SET. FAST FORWARD 2 WEEKS LATER SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED, ALSO MY CAR STARTED TO "BUCK" IN REVERSE. AGAIN BROUGHT TO GM DEALER AND TOLD NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. FAST FORWARD 4 DAYS LATER HEADING ON VACATION WITH MY 4 YEAR OLD INT HE CAR. SAME THING HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, WE CAME TO A DEAD STOP. THIS WAS VERY SCARY SINCE I HAD MY DAUGHTER WITH ME AND WE WERE 150 MILES FROM HOME. CALLED GM DEALER I HAD BEEN DEALING WITH AND THEY GAVE ME THE NUMBER FOR THE GM DEALER CLOSEST TO WERE I WAS LOCATED. CALLED THE GM DEALER ON CAPE COD, MA. WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT THERE AND THEY ARE SO BUSY IT WILL BE DAYS BEFORE THEY COULD EVEN LOOK AT IT. THEY HAD MY CAR FOR 2 WEEKS AND TOLD IT IS FIXED. I CAN TELL IT IS NOT THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL ACTING UP. WHILE DRIVING WITH A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT THE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD SAY THAT IT WAS ON. THEN AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT WOULD GO ON AND OFF AS LONG AS THERE WAS A PASSENGER WITH ME. NOW, FOR ABOUT 8 MONTHS THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS OFF COMPLETELY. I HAD THE ISSUE SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IN 2011 UNDER A RECALL, BUT NOW IT IS MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP, I HAD TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THEN THEY SAID THAT IT WAS THE SIDE AIRBAGS. GOT IT FIXED FOR ABOUT $300.00. WHEN I TOOK IT BACK AND PAID FOR ANOTHER DIAGONSTIC TEST AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE PASSENGER SEAT CUSHION WHICH NEEDS TO BE REPLACE FOR A COST OF $1,035.00. THE FIRST TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON THIS VEHICLE, WE WERE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN FROM A BUSY ROAD CROSSING ON-COMING TRAFFIC. THE IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING REQUIRED ME TO USE ALL OF MY ARM STRENGTH TO MANUALLY TURN THE WHEEL, FORCING ME TO MAKE AN EXTREMELY WIDE TURN ONTO A SIDE STREET. POWER STEERING HAS SINCE COME AND GONE AT SPEEDS LOWER THAN 25 MPH WHEN MAKING TURNS. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE TO OUR GMC DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR DIAGNOSIS AND EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. MY ACADIA STARTED OUT HAVING THIS ISSUE AT AROUND 20 MPH IT WOULD LOSE POWER AND THE SERVICE STABILITRAK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WOULD SHOW UP. RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN DOING IT ON THE HWY RUNNING AROUND 55-60 AND WHEN IT LOOSES POWER IT FEELS LIKE YOU HAVE SLAMMED ON YOUR BRAKES THROWING YOU SLIGHTLY FORWARD. HAD ANYONE BEEN BEHIND ME THEY WOULD HAVE RAN OVER ME! IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SEVERAL TIMES, ALWAYS WITH A REPORT OF "CANT DUPLICATE PROBLEM" OR ONE TIME IT WAS IN THERE WAS A BULLETIN TO MAKE SOME SMALL REPAIR, THIS WAS A VERY SHORT TERM FIX AS IT HAS STARTED AGAIN AND IS WORSE NOW THAN EVER. *TR
AT APPROX. 64,860 POWER STEERING STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE THAT KEPT GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. *TR
WE BOUGHT THE ACADIA USED FROM A LOCAL DEALER AND THE FIRST TIME IT RAINED SIGNIFICANTLY WATER LEAKED IN AROUND THE DOOR POST AT FRONT OF VEHICLE. THIS LEAK CAUSED SOME OF THE ELECTRICAL BOARDS TO SHORT OUT WHICH ALLOWED US NOT TO BE ABLE TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF EVEN WITH THE KEY REMOVED. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY INFORMED US ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL BOARDS AND STATED THE CHARGE TO REPAIR. AFTER A CALL TO GM COMPLAINT LINE THEY REPAIRED THE BOARD AT NO CHARGE TO US, BUT AFTER ABOUT 2MONTHS SAME PROBLEM ACCRUED SAME ISSUES. DEALER SAID WATER STILL LEAKING IN BUT COULD NOT FIND, THEY DRIED OUT THE ELECTRIC CONNECTIONS AND SAID TO TRY IT AGAIN. AFTER 2MONTHS THE PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN TO NO HELP FROM DEALER,MY CONCERN IS FEAR OF FIRE FROM SHORTED BOARDS OR THE BUILD UP OF MOLD UNDER CARPET. ANY HELP OR DIRECTION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. *TR

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
THE SUNROOF DRAINAGE TUBES GET CLOGGED AND LEAKED WATER WHICH CAUSED THE FUSE BOX IN THE DASH TO BE FILLED WITH WATER. ALSO FLOODING ALL THE FLOORS AND THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT INSIDE THE CAR. WHICH IN RETURN CAUSES THE CAR TO NOT SHUT OFF WHEN YOU TURN THE KEY OFF AND TAKE IT OUT. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR/LIGHT AND WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASH BEGAN TO INTERMITTENTLY FLASH ON AND OFF AT ABOUT 60K MILES. DEPENDING ON HOW YOUR SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT WILL FLASH ON AND OFF. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE WE PURCHASED AT ABOUT 71K MILES. THE SERVICE REP STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR MODULE AND THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE COST TO REPLACE WOULD BE AROUND $900. A QUICK ONLINE SEARCH NOTED MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS OF FAULTY PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSORS IN THESE CARS, NOT TO MENTION THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON THE 2007 MODELS FOR THE AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE. WE FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT GM SHOULD HAVE TO ADDRESS. *TR
VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR SMOOTHLY. GEARS WITHIN TRANSMISSION BROKEN. GMC REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT AT 52,086 MILES THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE BREAKING DOWN. *TR

HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS I AM COMPLEXED THAT THERE IS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. FEBRUARY 2012 MY GMC LOST POWER AS I WAS DRIVING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO GMC AND I WAS TOLD SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION (ON TOP OF ALL THE OTHER MAJOR PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD) THIS LUCKILY WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. FAST FORWARD ONE YEAR LATER FEBRUARY 2013 TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKING WENT TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY PUT IN A DYE TO TRACE THE LEAKS AS THEY SAID THEY DID NOT BELIEVE IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, THEY WANTED TO CHARGE FOR THIS BUT AGREED TO DO THIS FOR FREE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE TRANSMISSION THAT THEY FIXED WAS ONLY COVERED FOR 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES. AT THIS POINT IT WAS A LOST CAUSE DEALING WITH THE DEALER AS THEY WERE NOT COVERING ANY OF THEIR WORK AND SAID THESE ISSUES DID NOT FALL UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL UNDER THE 5 YEAR/100,000 MILE WARRANTY PERIOD. AFTER DRIVING IT FOR A WHILE WE NOTICED MORE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE CAR SO MY HUSBAND BROUGHT THE CAR TO GMC IN EARLY OCTOBER 2013 TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE OF THE TRANSMISSION, HE WAS TOLD THE 5 YEARS PERIOD ENDED 9/27/13. ON OCTOBER 15 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGH WAY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 40 MPH. I DROVE THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC AS GMC WAS CLEAR THIS CAR WAS NO LONGER WARRANTIED. I AM NOW TOLD THAT MY CAR IS IN NEED OF A NEW TRANSMISSION COSTING OVER $4,000. CALLS INTO THE DEALER WENT UNANSWERED FOR OVER A WEEK AND COMPLAINTS TO GMC CORPORATE WERE USELESS. THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR OF A CAR AND IF YOU LOOK AT ALL THE COMPLAINTS MADE ON THE TRANSMISSION OF THIS CAR THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL AS THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE WITH TRANSMISSIONS FAILING MORE THAN ONCE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE BUICK ENCLAVE AND SATURN OUTLOOK YAS THESE "TRIPLETS" ALL HAVE THE SAME ISSUES IT IS ENOUGH TO JUSTIFY A RECALL OR CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. *TR

THE CONTACT FILED A CLAIM WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

BOUGHT OUR GMC ACADIA DEC. 2011 HAD NO ISSUES TILL JAN 2012. SINCE THEN IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP REPEATEDLY FOR SEEMINGLY LINKED PROBLEMS. STARTED WITH JUST A DEAD BATTERY UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS SUBMERGED IN WATER, CAUSING BATTERY TO SHORT OUT, REPLACED THE BATTERY AND FIXED THE APPARENT POINT OF ENTRY. NOT TWO WEEKS LATER BACK IN THE SHOP, WATER POURING FROM THE HEAD LINER (AROUND THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, SUNROOF MOLDINGS, AND SEAT BELT JOINTS). OUR ACADIA REMAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THREE DAYS WITH NO LUCK OF FINDING A LEAK (CHECKED ALL DRAIN LINES AND RAN THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE WATER MACHINE). HERE WE ARE AGAIN VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP FOR A WEEK WITH NO LUCK OF FINDING THE POINT OF INTRUSION; THIS TIME THE WATER LEAK SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE FUSE PANEL. AFTER TRYING TO FIND THE LEAK FOR OVER A WEEK, SENDING THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER SHOP TO "GET A FRESH SET OF EYES ON IT", AND CONTACTING GM FOR ADVISE (WHICH WAS NO HELP) THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL IN LOCATING THE WATER LEAK. NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT. ALL I KNOW IS WE BOUGHT A $30,000.00 CAR SO WE WOULDN'T HAVE PROBLEMS AND HERE WE ARE WITH PROBLEMS, EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS. *TR
GMC IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE ACADIA THAT THE CAR LEAKS WATER FROM THE ROOF, AND I MEAN POURS IN. THIS WATER ALSO ENTERS THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM OF THE VEHICLE AND AFFECTS THE AIRBAGS. THE STEERING STARTED MAKING GRINDING NOISE WHEN I TURN IT TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT AT THE AROUND 38000 MILES ON THE CAR. I CONTACTED GMC DEALER THEY DIDN'T CARE ABOUT IT. AND I CAN SEE ON THE ACADIA FORUMS THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID OF STEERING WHEEL BEING STUCK AND I HAVE MY FAMILY IN THE CAR. GMC HAS TO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BEFORE LIVES ARE LOST. WHY DO WE ALWAYS HAVE TO ACT AFTER PEOPLE ARE DEAD. IS THERE ANYONE IN THE GOVERNMENT THAT ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT US. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WHO DISCOVERED SUNROOF DRAIN HAD BEEN PLUGGED AND CAUSED THE WHOLE UNDERCARRIAGE TO FLOOD AND SHUT ALL ELECTRICAL POWER DOWN.
