OUR VEHICLE HAS HAD THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT ON FOR A VERY LONG TIME, WHEN WE GOT THE RECALL NOTICE, WE TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS FINE AND OUR LIGHT WAS CAUSED BY A DIFFERENT PROBLEM. AS TIME HAS GONE BY, IT HAS DONE THE REST OF THE ITEMS LISTED ON THE RECALL SUCH AS ON/OFF LIGHT REMAINING OFF WITH A PASSENGER IN THE SEAT AND NOW IT ACTUALLY FLASHES BACK AND FORTH WITH OR WITHOUT A PASSENGER. OUR POWER STEERING HAS BEEN MAKING A WHINE SOUND SINCE 2009. IT HAS ONLY WORSENED OVER TIME AND NOW HAS DEPRECIATED OUR VEHICLES VALUE FOR A TRADE-IN. WE ARE COMPLETELY DISSATIFIED WITH THE QUALITY OF VEHICLE WE HAVE GOTTEN. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND AN ACADIA BASED ON THE RELIABILITY OF GMC AND THE LACK OF RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX PROBLEMS THAT ARE OBVIOUSLY ON THE MANUFACTURING END. WE KNOW SEVERAL OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2008 ACADIA AND HAVE FOUND MANY FORUMS OF PEOPLE DISCUSSING THEIR ISSUES AND IT APPEARS THAT THE 2008 HAS THE GREATEST AMOUNT OF ISSUES. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED TO SEEK LEGAL ACTION. *JS
I WAS TURNING ONTO A FOUR LANE ROAD FROM STOP LIGHT WITH MY 4 YR. OLD LITTLE GIRL . THE ACADIA LOST POWER AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED , AND COULD NOT TURN AT ALL . STUCK BROADSIDE IN TWO DIRECTIONS OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC ! CARS WHERE VEERING AROUND US ! HAZARD LIGHTS DO NOT WORK VERY WELL WHEN YOU ARE STUCK BROADSIDE , AND THEY CANT SEE THEM ! LIGHTS WERE COMING ON AND MESSAGES WERE SAYING CHECK ENGINE ! AFTER AROUND A MINUTE AND A HALF EVERYTHING WORKED AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED . DANGEROUS , SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, BUT A RECURRING NOISE COULD BE HEARD IN THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE FRONT END DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED. THE DRIVER WAS NOT INJURED AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,155. UPDATED 01/06/17*LJ UPDATED 7/5/18*JB THE CONSUMER STATED SAFETY DEFECT WAS REPAIRED. *TR
APPARENTLY THE ENTIRE LINE UP OF GM CROSSOVERS (ACADIA, ENCLAVE, AND TRAVERSE) 2007-2010 ARE AFFECTED BY A POWER STEERING PROBLEM. MINE HAS A WHINE IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. IT IS POSSIBLY THE PUMP, OR THE RACK AND PINION. THE DEALER QUOTED ME $450-$1000 TO REPAIR. I KNOW THAT THEY HAVE IMPROVED THE POWER STEERING PUMPS ON THESE VEHICLES, WHICH INDICATES TO ME THAT THE ORIGINAL WAS DEFECTIVE. I FEEL LIKE STEERING IS A PART OF SAFELY DRIVING THESE VEHICLES. IF THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHILE I AM DRIVING OUR ACADIA, I MIGHT BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT, BUT IF MY WIFE WERE DRIVING IT, THE OUTCOME MAY BE VERY DIFFERENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE REGAINED ITS STEERING FUNCTION ON ITS OWN A FEW MOMENTS LATER. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. ALSO, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT CLOSE WHEN THE BUTTON ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR PANEL WAS DEPRESSED. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW WOULD ONLY CLOSE IF THE BUTTON ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL WAS USED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
MY VEHICLE HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS. THE LIGHTS HAVE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE BULB MELTING INTO, AND FUSING TO, THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. THIS CREATED A CONDITION WHERE THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS INCLUDES THE LENS PIECE, THE BULB, AND THE WIRING CONNECTOR. THIS IS AN ISSUE AT NIGHT (NO/MISALIGNED HEADLIGHTS), THE LOSS OF THE BENEFIT OF DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS, AND I IMAGINE A POSSIBLE FIRE. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IN THE WALMART PARKING LOT AND WENT THROUGH A PUDDLE OF WATER CAUSING THE POWER STEERING TO STOP WORKING. I TOLD HER TO STAY THERE UNTIL I COULD GET THERE TO MEET HER. WHEN I ARRIVED, I DROVE THE VEHICLE THROUGH ABOUT AN INCH OF STANDING WATER IN THE SAME PARKING LOT AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ONE MORE TIME SINCE THEN WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 25 MPH ON A ROAD NEAR OUR HOME. *TR
THE VEHICLE WAS LEASED NEW IN 2008 AND HAD WATER LEAKING AROUND SUNROOF. THE LEAK WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER BETWEEN 08-11 THERE WERE NUMEROUS DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS ON THIS CAR RELATING TO THE WATER LEAK. ON OCTOBER 11, 2011 I WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE VEHICLE AND ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS SHUT OFF- RADIO, DIRECTIONALS, GAGES, LIGHTS. THE CAR REMAINED RUNNING AND WITHIN SECONDS THE ELECTRICAL WAS RESTORED. IT HAS CONTINUED TO SHUT ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THAT I SHOULD BRING IT BACK IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. ON THE WAY HOME IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I BROUGHT IT BACK ON OCT. 12 AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED THE WHOLE DRIVE TO THE DEALER. THEY HAVE SINCE HAD THE CAR AND TELL ME THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS OR HOW TO FIX IT. I AM BEING LEFT TO DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE AND AM TOLD MY ONLY OPTION IS TO TRADE IT IN. *TR
PURCHASED A USED 2008 GMC ACADIA SLT1. WE HAVE HAD IT FOR SIX DAYS. WITHIN THOSE SIX DAYS WE HAVE HAD WATER ROLLING/RUSHING AROUND OUR ROOF LINER, WATER POURING OUT OF BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS AND UNDER DASH, WATER POURING OUT OF THE BACK DOME LIGHTS, REAR VIDEO SENSOR, AND BACK SEATBELTS. BOTH FRONT FLOOR MATS SATURATED WITH WATER AS WELL AS THE CARPET UNDERNEATH. IT IS TO BE NOTED THAT ALL OF THE WATER POURING OUT HAS BEEN WITNESS WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS CLEARLY A DRIVING DISTRACTION ESPECIALLY TO A NEW CAR OWNER WHO IS NOT EXPECTING THIS AT ALL. A DRIVER IS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE ANY DRIVING DISTRACTIONS WHILE DRIVING. THIS CAR WAS DESIGNED WITH A LOT OF SAFETY FEATURES HOWEVER WATER LEAKAGE AND POURING OUT OF SPACES HAS BEEN GREATLY OVER LOOKED. LAST NIGHT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE RAIN, I HAD WATER DRIP ONTO MY HAND FROM THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG WHICH TOOK ME OFF GUARD AS I WAS NOT EXPECTING IT. THIS WAS A DISTRACTION. WE HAVE PUT OUR BASEMENT ROOM DEHUMIDIFIER IN OUR ACADIA IN THE GARAGE ON THIS SIXTH NIGHT TO HELP DRY OUT ALL THE WATER IN THE CARPET AND WE ARE SURE IN THE ROOF LINER TO HOPEFULLY HELP WITH ANY MOLD THAT MAY HAVE STARTED. WE HAVE TWO SONS UNDERCARE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL ALLERGIES AND ONE WITH ASTHMA. THIS VEHICLE CANNOT BE GOOD FOR HIM. WE NOW ARE STRESSED WORRYING ABOUT WHAT FUTURE PROBLEMS WE ARE GOING TO FACE FROM THE WATER DAMAGE WE CAN SEE AND THAT WE CANNOT. THE UPPER ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS (I.E. LIGHTS, DVD PLAYER), THE BLOWER UNDER THE DASH AND OTHER INTERNAL DASH COMPONENTS, AND THE MOST SERIOUS ARE THE AIRBAGS. WILL THEY NOW WORK? THIS HAS TO BE THE BIGGEST SAFETY CONCERN FOR GMC. WE NOW HAVE A BIG FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY REGARDING THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. WE CANNOT COMPREHEND THAT THIS HAS BEEN ALLOWED BY OUR NATIONAL GOVERNMENT SAFETY AGENCIES SINCE 2007! WHY? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A PUDDLE OF LIQUID UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED .THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,960.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED, THE SUNROOF LEAKED WATER INTO THE VEHICLE. THE WATER ALSO LEAKED FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE LEAK OCCURRED FROM THE REAR DOME LIGHT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE BATTERY ALSO FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
GMC ACADIA 2008. WATER LEAKAGE FROM SUNROOF AND OR WINDSHIELD, ENTERING COLUMNS CONTAINING AIRBAGS (WATER WAS LEAKING OUT OF AIRBAGS ON COLUMNS) AND DOWN INTO DASH BOARD AND DOWN TO CARPETS. MOLD BUILDING UP IN ROOF LINER AND CARPETS. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS ON TEMPERATURE GAUGE. *TT
IN 2011, OUR ACADIA ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. FIRST THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT WIRING BURNT. WE HAD THAT REPLACED. AFTER THE HEADLIGHT, WE STARTED NOTICING THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COMING ON AND THE AIR BAG SENSOR WAS NOTIFYING US THAT THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. NONE OF THE SOUNDS WHERE COMING ON IN THE CAR. FOR EXAMPLE, IF YOU WERE NOT WEARING YOUR SEATBELT THE "DINGING" DID NOT HAPPEN. I TOOK THE ACADIA IN FOR SERVICE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY CELL PHONE THAT TRIGGERED THE DEFECT. I THANK GOD I WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT HOWEVER IF GMC KNEW OF THE DEFECTS WHY NOT BE UP FRONT WITH US. MY FAMILY AND I TRAVEL PLENTY. SAFETY IS THE NUMBER ONE CONCERN, WE BOUGHT THE ACADIA FAITHFULLY AND HOPES GMC PROVIDES THE BEST SERVICE POSSIBLE. *JS
8/26/2011 - 71,309 MILES - WATER PUMP WENT OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. 5/07/2012 - 86,885 MILES - TRANSMISSION SHUTTERED WHEN COMING TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC. WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC. TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY REPLACED WITH GM REMAN TRANSMISSION DUE TO BROKEN REVERSE WAVE PLATE THAT DAMAGED THE CARRIER, SUN SHELL AND METAL THROUGHOUT. ALSO DETECTED AN OIL LEAK IN THE ENGINE FRONT COVER THAT NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED AND HEARD POWER STEERING NOISE SO BLED POWER STEERING SYSTEM. 12/31/2012- 100,947 MILES - HEADLIGHT SWITCH FELL INSIDE DASH PANEL. 7/26/2013 - 112,506 MILES - POWER STEERING HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY. IT HAS ALWAYS MADE NOISES AND HAS BEEN STIFF. HAD IT BLED SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION. AT SHOP NOW TO DETERMINE IF IT NEEDS A NEW POWER STEERING PUMP, RACK, AND/OR SERPENTINE BELT. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME ISSUES AS THOSE THAT I HAVE EXPERIENCED. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT GM ISN'T MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THEIR CONSUMERS AND THE RELIABILITY AND QUALITY OF THEIR VEHICLES. I HAVE NEVER OWNED SUCH A LEMON! I PERSONALLY WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER GM PRODUCT. GOING BACK TO LEXUS. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT DOESN'T WORK. CONNECTOR IS BURNT. APPEARS TO BE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND REQUIRES ENTIRE HEAD LIGHT UNIT TO BE REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY. COST IS ~$600. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR INOPERATIVE. REPLACED 08/12/11 AND 06/06/12. IT HAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AT THE MOMENT. LIVING IN THE NORTH IN THE WINTER TIME IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFROST THE WINDOW IF THE BLOWER MOTOR DOESN'T WORK. *TR
MY POWER STEERING GROANS AND MOANS WHEN TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. TURNING THE WHEEL IS VERY DIFFICULT EVEN FOR ME BEING A MALE. THE NOISE IS VERY ANNOYING AND MAY AFFECT THE STEERING. THE CAR IS FOR MY FAMILY OF THREE KIDS AND WIFE --- NOT SURE THEY SHOULD BE DRIVING THIS ANYMORE. I CALLED THE A GMC SERVICE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE HEARD OF "VERY SIMILAR ISSUES" WAITING BACK TO HEAR IF THEY WILL REPAIR THIS. I'VE HAD TOO MANY REPAIRS LATELY FOR A CAR WITH ONLY 58K MILES -- ONE SWAY BAR, ANOTHER SWAY BAR, TRANSMISSION ISSUE, HEADLAMP ISSUE, FAULTY THERMOSTAT, LIMITED LIFE BRAKE PADS, NOW POWER STEERING ISSUES! UGH! *TR
2008 ACADIA. LOW BEAM LIGHTS SUDDENLY STOP OPERATING WHILE DRIVING. SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD. GMC FORUMS ON INTERNET SHOW HUNDREDS OF CONSUMERS EXPERIENCING SAME ISSUE. OUR LOW BEAM DRIVERS SIDE WENT OUT. LOW BEAM PASSENGER SIDE TWO DAYS LATER. DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING, THE LIGHTS CANNOT BE ACCESSED WITHOUT REMOVING THE BUMPER OR TIRES. NOT A BULB ISSUE. PROBLEM WITH MELTED WIRING HARNESS. THERE WAS NO TO WAY REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS WITHOUT SPLICING THE WIRING AND INSTALLING AN AFTERMARKET CONNECTOR PART. POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD AS THE BULBS ARE TOO HOT FOR THE CURRENT WIRING. THE HARNESS REPLACEMENT WILL ONLY FAIL AGAIN BECAUSE THE WIRING CANNOT HANDLE THE HEAT. THIS ISSUE CAN LEAVE YOU STRANDED ON A DARK ROAD AT NIGHT WITH NO HEADLAMPS THAT MAY JUST SUDDENLY GO OUT. THIS IS A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS AND DEADLY PROBLEM. ACCORDING TO THE MANY FORUMS, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON ACADIAS AND SATURN OUTLOOKS. *TR
1. ACCELERATOR PEDAL STUCK TO FLOOR AT 60MPH AND CONTINUED TO PICK UP SPEED UNTIL DRIVER THREW CAR TO NEUTRAL AS BRAKES WOULD NOT ENGAGE 2. AIR BAG SYSTEM HAS NOT BEEN FUNCTIONAL 3. TPMS IS INOPERABLE LIGHT ALWAYS ON 4. SEATS ARE COMPOSED OF POLYURETHANE MOLDED FOAM CAUSING AN ARRAY OF HEALTH ISSUES FOR MYSELF AND 2 CHILDREN AS CAR GETS EXTREMELY HOT 5. BRAKES ENGAGE DURING HIGH SPEEDS RANDOMLY CAUSING CAR TO SLIDE 6. HEAVY METALS/AIR PLANE PARTS FOUND IN MANY PLACES OF CAR 7. FUMES INSIDE CONSTANTLY IMPROPERLY ROUTED FUEL/EMISSION SYSTEM? 8. TRANSMITTERS, IGNITION WILL NOT TURN OVER UNLESS FM TRANSMITTER IN KEY IS ATTACHED, SHOULD NOT BE A HYBRID OR GRID OPERATED VEHICLE. SPRAY FOAM AND WELDED METAL COMPOSED MUCH OF VEHICLE. MEDICAL WHITE PACKING IN MUCH OF GAPS WITH A CONTAMINATED SMELL 9. LOTS OF MONEY TRYING TO REPAIR DAMAGE, OWNER FILED BANKRUPTCY LOTS OF MEDICAL BILLS. DEALERS AND MANUFACTURER DO NOTHING, I HAVE WROTE LETTERS AND MANY PHONE CALLS. 10. MICROWAVE EFFECT ON ANYONE IN CAR ALONG WITH MAGNETIC PULLS. I MYSELF HAVE HAD THIS CAR SINCE FEB 2011. I HAVE LOST SOME NERVE FUNCTION ON LEFT SIDE OF MY BODY LEAVING ME WITH MULTIPLE SCARS FOR LIFE DOWN LEFT SIDE OF BODY AND CENTER FOREHEAD RESEMBLING RADIATION BURNS BUT I NEVER UNDERWENT RADIATION. I LOST MY HAIR IN 2012 ALONG WITH JOINT DAMAGES. PLEASE DO SOMETHING, I AM NOT AN EXPERIMENT AND NEVER AGREED TO BE ONE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THE WIRING FOR THE HEADLIGHTS WAS MELTING AND CAUSED THE HEADLIGHTS TO SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE WIRING FOR THE HEADLIGHTS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
AT APPROX. 62,000 POWER STEERING STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE THAT KEPT GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED/REPLACED THE RACK THAT THEY SAID WAS STARTING TO GO BAD. IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE GM CERTIFIED USED WARRANTY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE AND SHOULD BE ALL SET. NOW, ABOUT A YEAR LATER (WARRANTY EXPIRED-POWER STEERING IS NOT CONSIDERED POWERTRAIN...) THE SAME NOISE AND HIGH EFFORT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THEY NOW SAY THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS GOING AND THERE IS A BLOWN GASKET IN THE STEERING COLUMN CAUSING A LEAK OF STEERING FLUID WHICH IS CAUSING THE WHINE. THEY SAY THAT THE REPAIR IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $750. GMC NEEDS TO ANNOUNCE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, OR AT LEAST ISSUE A NOTICE FOR DEALERS TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE WHEN IT ARISES. THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SOMETIMES IT WILL INDICATE THAT IT IS ON AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL INDICATE THAT IT IS OFF EVEN WHEN SOMEONE WHO WEIGHS OVER 140 POUNDS SITS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WON'T INDICATE THAT THE PERSON DOESN'T HAVE THEIR SEATBELT ON. EVEN IF DRIVING AND PERSON HAS BEEN SITTING, IT WON'T TURN ON. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SENSE CORRECTLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE INTO THE LOCAL DEALER WHILE A PASSENGER WAS IN THE SEAT AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAW THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WORKED ON SEVERAL TIMES AND THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS AN ACTIVE GM SAFETY RECALL (14030, NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 14V11800), AND THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE LOCAL DEALER (FLOW GMC, FAYETTEVILLE, NC) IS TELLING ME THAT I MUST PAY $500 OF THE $568 TO HAVE THE PART REPLACED BASED ON GUIDANCE FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER ([XXX]). I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A PART REPLACEMENT THAT I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT BEFORE THE RECALL AND PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT HAS AN ACTIVE RECALL ON. I HAVE HAD THE RACK & PINION STEERING RACK REPLACED 2 TIMES SINCE I'VE OWNED THE VEHICLE (BOUGHT NEW IN JULY 2008) DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH AFTER GETTING UGLY WITH THEM, NOW AT 75,000 MILES TRANSMISSION WENT OUT,REPLACED IT. JUST WENT ON A TRIP AND HAD TO PARK OUTSIDE IN PARKING AREA AND HAD A REAL PUDDLE ON MY MAT AND UNDERNEATH THE MAT. TODAY I CALLED AN AUTO WINDSHIELD REPAIR SHOP TO SEE IF THE WINDSHIELD COULD BE LEAKING AND WAS TOLD THAT IF THE CAR WAS NOT IN AN ACCIDENT OR IF IT HAS NOT HAD THE WINDSHIELD REPLACED, THEY DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE THE WINDSHIELD LEAKING, THAT GM WAS GOOD ABOUT INSTALLING AND SEALING THE WINDSHIELD. DURING THE FAILURE THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NOT OPERATE AS SMOOTHLY AS IT NORMALLY WOULD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED AND WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
I OWN A 2008 GMC ACADIA AND ON JAN 10. 2011 THE POWER STEERING FLUID HAD COMPLETELY SPILLED OUT FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE REPAIR MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THE POWER STEERING COOLER THAT HAD BEEN DEFECTIVE. AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE FOR COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL I AM WONDERING WHY GMC IS DOING NOTHING ABOUT A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM WITH THIS MODEL AND YEAR. LUCKILY I WAS NOT DRIVING OR WE COULD HAVE BEEN IN A BAD ACCIDENT. A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND ONLY 46,000 SHOULD NOT HAVE POWERS STEERING ISSUES. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AS CONSUMERS ARE PAYING ALOT OF MONEY FOR REPAIRS THAT ARE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE SOMEONE DYEING BEFORE ANYTHING IS DONE. I HAVE A CHECK AIRBAGS ON MY DISPLAY PANEL WHEN IBROUGHT MY CAR TO THE GM DEALER THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE HARNESS UNDER MY SEAT. I INQUIRED IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME NO. I SEE NOW THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS BUT THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
