THE TIMING CHAIN IS GOING BAD FOR NO REASON, AND I KNOW IS NOT OLTHE ONLY ONE, A FRIEND OF MINE HAS THE SAME TRUCK WITH THE SAME PROBLEM FOR NO REASON AS WELL... I WAS ON MY WAY TO SCHOOL AND THE TRUCK LOST THE POWER AND DIDN'T COME BACK SO, I HAD TO CALL THE TOW TRUCK AND TAKE IT TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THE TIME CHAIN WAS BAD. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THAT YOU DO SOME RESEARCH AND HELP ME AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAS THE SAME TRUCK AS ME.
2008 GMC ACADIA WITH 140,000 MILES RAN FINE ON SATURDAY 11/24/18. NO NOISE, NO ISSUES, NO WARNING LIGHTS. MONDAY 11/26/18, ENGINE WOULD TURN OVER, BUT NOT CRANK. AGAIN, NO NOISE, ETC. HAD TOWED TO A LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP THAT HAS COMPLETED ALL WORK AND MAINTENANCE ON CAR. RESULTS=? BROKEN TIMING CHAIN. ???? THERE WAS A RECALL ON 2007 AND 2009 GMC ACADIA'S. IF THERE WAS ASSISTANCE WITH 2007 AND 2009, HOW COULD THEY NOT HAVE SCA/RECALL FOR 2008. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE PROBLEM WAS NOT CORRECTED IN 2007 OR THEY WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO INCLUDE 2009. GMC NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE. WE HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ENGINE ISSUES WITH THIS 2008 GMC ACADIA. PLEASE ADVISE
WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO OFF WHEN I CAME HOME OF WORK THE VEHICLE STAYS RUNNING FOR 10 TO 50 SECONDS BEFORE IT STALLS OUT.I TRY TO TURN ON THE IGNITION 4 HOURS LATER THE BATTERY IS DEAD.MY 2008 ARCADIA IS PARKED AT MY HOME. I WILL NEED A JUMP START TO GO ANYWHERE BECAUSE THE BATTERY IS DEAD.I HAVE TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AFTER I PARK THE 2008 ARCADIA.WHEN I COME HOME OR TRY TO START THE VEHICLE.
I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP AND HALF WAY THROUGH THE TRIP WHILE ON THE FREEWAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT . I BARELY HAD CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE ALMOST CRASH INTO THE WALL. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE AND IT WAS A SUNDAY SO I HAD TO DRIVE BACK HOME 3 HOURS WITH NO POWER STEERING.
THE LIGHTS ARE GOING IN AND OUT, AND THE HIGH BEAMS AS WELL AS THE TAILLIGHTS ARE DOING THE SAME. I WAS TOLD THERE IS A SHORT IN THE SYSTEM. THE STEERING SYSTEM IS MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE ANY TIME THE STEERING WHEEL IS MOVED. THE STABILITY LIGHTS AS WELL AS OTHERS KEEP COMING ON AND OFF BUT WHEN CHECKED SHOWS NOTHING IS WRONG.
CAR LOOSE POWER AND STABILITRAKER CONTROL, PRESS CAR GAS PEDAL AND ONLY GOES TO 20 MPH IT HAPPEN ANYWHERE HIGHWAY AND REGULAR STREET
TAKATA RECALL- I PURCHASED A 2008 GMC AWD ACADIA ABOUT A YEAR AGO. WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE I NOTICED A WHINY SOUND THAT I INFORMED THE DEALER ABOUT UPON RETURN. THE DEALER CHECKED IT OUT AND TOLD ME IT JUST NEED POWER STEERING FLUID. SO HE FILLED THE FLUIDS AND I HEARD NOTHING FOR A MONTH OR SO. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK FOR MISC. REPAIRS TWO OTHER TIMES AFTER THAT REGARDING SOUNDS THAT I WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. AFTER THAT THINGS SEEMED FINE FOR A FEW MONTHS OR SO. EARLY SEPTEMBER, THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DASH WAS READING 60MPH BUT I WAS REALLY GOING 30MPH. THEN WHILE EXITING TO TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING BEGAN ACTING UP AND WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. I ALMOST RAN INTO THE WALL NOT PREPARED TO USE SUCH FORCE. AUGUST 29TH I WENT TO JIFFY LUBE AND HAD THE FLUIDS TOPPED OFF AND POWER STEERING FLUID WAS FULL. I PUT THE TRUCK IN THE SHOP FOR A FULL DIAGNOSTIC AFTER THE BATTERY WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START IN OCTOBER. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK NEEDING REPLACING AND THE FAULTY SUN ROOF HAD FLOODED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WITH 1 1/2 INCHES OF WATER. THE BATTERY DIED BECAUSE THE PORT WAS FILLED WITH WATER. FROM THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER, WHEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN DRIVEN VERY SHORT DISTANCES (TO THE GAS STATION ON THE CORNER, LESS THAN A MILE). I CALLED A GM DEALER TO CHECK FOR RECALLS AND THERE ARE NONE WHICH IS SAD AND A TOTAL RIP OFF.
THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF ABRUPTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE AS TURNED OFF IN A PARKED-IDLING POSITION, ROLLING AT FIVE MPH, AND EVEN BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND INSERTING IT TO THE ON POSITION CYCLING THAT MOTION FOUR TO FIVE TIMES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS I HAVE AND THEY ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM CERTAIN I AM NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF BECAUSE AS MENTIONED BEFORE, THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM. THIS IS COPIED AND PASTED FROM A PREVIOUS POST BECAUSE I HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. NO ACCIDENT SO FAR BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF HIGHWAY SAFELY WHILE CAR STALLED AT 70 MPH.
TRANSMISSION FAILED, TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR, TRANSMISSION STUCK IN FIRST GEAR, GM APPROVED A 2013 SAFETY RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED IN 2017, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPAIRED AND THE ENTIRE ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE TRANSMISSION IS FAILING AGAIN BECAUSE IT IS A PRODUCT DEFECT THAT IS DANGEROUS. GM HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE AND THE AUTONATION HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. GM AND AUTONATION HAVE SOLD A DANGEROUS USED CAR WITH A FRAUDULENT INTENT. GM AND AUTONATION HAVE RATIFIED THE INTENTIONAL FRAUD. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE IT IS STILL DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THE TRANSMISSION IS CURRENTLY FAILING AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SUN ROOF AND AREA BETWEEN THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR WAS LEAKING WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COLONIAL AUTO CENTER (LOCATED AT 100 MYERS DR, CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA 22901) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER SEIZED AND WAS UNABLE TO MOVE INTO PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V073000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 91,000. **TR CONSUMER STATED TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE FAILED AFTER A FEW DAY OF DIFFICULTY PUTTING SHIFTER INTO P PARK. ULTIMATELY WAS UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AT ALL. IF I KEPT DRIVING AND THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND NOT PROPERLY SHIFTING - VERY DANGEROUS. UPDATED 11/1/18*JB
THERE IS A RECALL ON THE CONVERTRR POST THAT CAUSES THE ENGINE TO SEIZE UP AND PULL TO GO INTO THE ENGINE.. WHEN STARTED NOTHING COMES OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES AS THEY ARE CLOGGED MAKING IT DANGEROUS TO OPERATE.. THE RECALL IGNORAMUS THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM HOWEVER AFTER CONTACTING GMC REPEATEDLY THEY SAY THAT IT DOESN'T INCLUDE THIS EXACT VIN..I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE ENGINE REPLACED ONCE DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND THER DEALER FAILED TO DIAGNOSE IT PROPERLY AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALL IN OTHER VEHICLES OFTHE SAME MAKE AND MODEL... THE VEHICLE SIZES UP AT ANY RATE OF SPEED AND THE EXHAUST IS CLOGGED MAKING THE VEHICLE DANGEROUS TO OPERATE
THE AIR BAG SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE PASSENGER IN THE SEAT FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS, BUT IS NON-FUNCTIONAL NOW (DOES NOT DETECT THE PRESENCE OF AN OCCUPANT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT) RESULTING IN THE PASSENGER AIR BAG BEING DISABLED AT ALL TIMES
WORST VEHICLE EVER.
I NEEDED TO ADD THIS INFORMATION TO COMPLAINT 11113379. SOMETIMES THE CARE WOULD BE SHIFTING OKAY AND GOING 55 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN IT WOULD DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR AND STAY IN FIRST GEAR
MY VEHICLE HAS 85,500 MILES ON ENGLINE AND TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAD 36,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE NEVER PULLED ANYTHING BEHIND MY VEHICLE THAT WOULD PUT STRAIN ON THE TRANSMISSION. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND FOUND OUT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WOULD STAY IN 1ST GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR.
HAD MY TRANSMISSION FAIL WHILE CAMPING IN THE MOUNTAINS WITH ZERO CELL PHONE SERVICE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT 121,657 MILES, THEN DETERIORATED UNTIL IT WOULD NO LONGER MOVE WHEN PRESSING ON THE GAS PEDAL. TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS COMPLETE REPLACEMENT TOTALLING 4.5K. GMC REFUSED TO ASSIST ME IN ANY MANNER TOWARDS THE BILL EVEN THOUGH THIS IS A VERY KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THESE TRANSMISSIONS AS IT IS A DEALER DEFECT.
SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE I GET AN ON AND OFF MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE AIR BAG. ALSO WHILE I AM DRIVING THE TRUCK OVER HEATS AND WHEN I COME TONA STOP AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND COMPLETELY REMIVE THE KEY. THE ENGINE STAYS ON AND WATER PUMP STARTS TO BUBLE AS IF THE WATER WAS BOILING AND AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES THERE IS NO WATER IN THE PUMP AND WHEN YOU ADD WATER THE WATER GET EXTREMELY HOT. I HAVE SEEN IN OTHER FORUMS WHERE ALL HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE QUALITY OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE FOUR SMALL CHILDREN AND DON'T FEEL SAFE HOWEVER THE TRUCK IS FINANCED AND I HAVE NO OPTION.
SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON, NOW THE TRANSMISSION HOT IDLE ENGINE LIGHT IS POPPING ON AND ALSO SERVICE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGT IS COMING ON. ME MY FAMILY HAD TAKEN A VACATION TO FLORIDA AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO STARTLE ALL THE WAY BACK TO TENNESSEE LEAVING US IN A DEVASTATED SITUATION . I WAS HOPING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION AND AND AIR BAGS THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS MANY OTHERS HAS COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES IN THE PAST CONCERNING THEIR 2008 ACADIA VEHICLES THIS VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY EXPRESSWAY WITH A HIGH VOLUME OF FAST MOVING TRAFFIC. I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND O' REILLY AUTO PARTS TO HAVE CHECK ENGINE TEST AND THE FOLLOWING CODES APPEARED DTC P2762 TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH,P0700 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CONTROL,P0171 FUEL CONTROL SYSTEM. AND COMPUTER ERROR. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS VEHICLE EVER ME RECALL BUT I FEEL ME MY FAMILY COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY INJURED AS THE FAST MOVING VEHICLE WAS COMING BEHIND US AS OUR VEHICLE LOST POWER AND CONNECTION.
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA BEGAN DISPLAYING SERVICE AIR BAG AND TURNING OFF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG INTERMITTENTLY WHEN A PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT DUE TO THE WIRING HARNESS UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER A FEW MONTHS IT NOW STAYS ON ALL THE TIME. GMC SAID IT'S NOT UNDER A RECALL BUT I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT WITH THE SAME YEAR MAKE AND MODEL STATING IT'S A RECALL THIS HAPPENS WHEN IN MOTION AND WHILE STOPED
I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR BROUGHT IN FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. AFTER THE DEALER DID A FULL TEST, THEY NARROWED IT DOWN TO THE GAS TANK AREA. IT WAS A FUEL MODULE BROKEN AT THE FLANGE AND ALSO THEY RECOMMENDED THE FUEL SENSOR TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN NOTICING A LOT OF VEHICLE COMING IN WITH THE SENSOR GOING BAD. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED ME THAT THE 2008 ACADIA'S HAVE A DESIGN FLAW IN THE GAS TANK AND THERE IS A CHANCE IN THE FUTURE IT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT FOR NOW THE TANK LOOKS REALLY GOOD.
THIS IS THE WORST VIECHLE WE HAVE EVERY BOUGHT. YOU NAME IT AN IT HAS GONE WRONG. TRANSMISSION TWICE, TIMING, POWER STEERING, TAILGATE, WE HAVE NEVER PULLED ANYTHING WITH OUR CAR. WHEN IT RAINS THE STEERING LOCKS UP.. ONE MINUTE WE ARE GOING 70 AND BAM THE CAR TURNS OFF. I CAN KEEP GOING. GMC PRETTY MUCH JUST SAID OH WELL. THIS HAVE HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES I LOST TRACK.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERY WAS MOIST DUE TO THE WATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAUER BUICK GMC (1111 MN-110, INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, MN 55077), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIO AMPLIFIER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,000.
DRIVING AND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG WENT OFF WITH NO WARNING AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO RUN INTO A STREET POLE.
2008 GMC ACADIA WITH INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING, I HAVE 112,396 MILES AND MY SUV AS WELL AS A LOT OF OTHERS PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET HAVE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE AND THIS IS STILL HAPPING TO PEOPLE IN THESE VEHICLE BECAUSE THEY PUT A TIME FRAME ON WHEN THEY WOULD COVER THE VEHICLE ISSUES. THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL AND CRASH WHEN THIS ISSUE HAPPENS. I HAVE GOT AHOLD OF GM MOTORS AND THEY SAID I AM OUT OF THE TIME FRAME AND THEY WON'T COVER IT. PLEASE HELP ME OUT AND SEE ABOUT A RECALL SO PEOPLE WON'T GET INJURED OR POSSIBLE KILLED OVER THIS ISSUE THAT THEY KNOW ABOUT. THE ISSUE LOCKS THE STEERING WHEEL AND WON'T ALLOW YOU TO TURN IT LEFT OR RIGHT. UNTIL YOU SLOW DOWN ENOUGH TO TURN IT.
FOR THE PAST 6-9 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH UNWARRANTED SPEED SHIFTING, HARD SHIFT CHANGES & OVERALL TRANSMISSION ISSUES. I HAVE HAD MY CAR TO TRANSMISSION SPECIALISTS ALMOAT ON A MONTHLY BASIS FOR THESE ISSUES. I WAS TOLD BY THE SPECIALIST THAT HE REPAIRS AT LEAST 3 CARS OF MY SAME MAKE & MODEL PER WEEK. HE SAID HE IS NOTICING A VERY COMMON FAILURE IN EACH VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS POWER BUT THE SPEED & GEAR SHIFT ARE HUGE SAFETY ISSUES, AS IT IS VERY RANDOM & UNPROVOKED. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY & MY VEHICLE WOULD JUST STALL OR SHIFT. I HAVE HAD TO CAREFULLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
MY CAR HAS BEEN RIDING CRAZY. IT KERKS WHEM DRIVING AND THIS IS ONLY DONE WITH SERVICE STABILTRAK AND TRACTION CONTROLL SENSORS COME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. TOOK TO A MECHANIC WHO REPLACE PART CONNECTED TO BRAKE THAT SUPPOSE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. WND ISSIE IS THE AIRBAG SYSYEM KEEPS FLASHING OFF AND ON. I CHECKED NHSHF WEBSITE FOR REACALLS AND IT SAYS A RECALL. BUT WHEN I CONTACTED CHEVE THEY SAID NO RECALL. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THESE ON THIS CAR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE
THIS CAR CAME WITH A 30 DAY AND/OR 1000 MILES WARRANTY. WITHIN A WEEK PASS THE WARRANTY IT STARTED. THE RADIO ILLUMINATION STARTED TO GO OUT WE WOULD HAVE TO TAP ON IT TO GET IT TO TURN ON SO WE COULD SEE THE TIME ETC. THEN IT WOULD NOT COME BACK ON AT ALL AND ALL CHIMES WENT AWAY., STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. NO TURN SINGLE INDICATOR, SEAT BELTS, BACK UP WARNING, DOOR AJAR ETC. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR WOULD SAY NO ONE WHEN SOMEONE WAS SITTING IN IT AND WHILE DRIVING BLINK BETWEEN THE TWO. ALSO AIR BAG NEEDS MAINTANCE INDICTOR IN DASH WILL FLASH WHILE DRIVING. PARK ASSISTANT ON AND OFF WILL FLASH WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WILL MOVE IN ITSELF WHILE DRIVING AND AROUND BENDS/TURNS IN THE ROAD AND WORSENING ON HIGHWAY! TO THE POINT I DO NOT TAKE MY CHILDREN ON. THERE IS ALSO A FAINT BURN SMELL AROUND FRONT FLOOR.I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL ADVANCED AUTO PARTS STORE AND HAVE THEM HOOK IT UP TO SEE WHY I LOST MY RADIO, STEERING ETC. BY THE WAY THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A SUNROOF ALL THE WINDOWS GO UP TIGHT AS WELL. I CALLED MY MECHANIC WHO I'VE KNOWN FOR YEARS MY FAMILY HAS WENT TO HIM AS WELL AND ASKED HIM TO ASSIST ME IN THE BATTERY ISSUE. SO WE GET THERE HE OPENS THE FLOOR BEHIND MY SEAT AND WE DISCOVERED THE BATTERY IS UNDERWATER DARK SLUDGY WATER! THE BATTERY IS REPLACED AFTER A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PARTICULAR ESTABLISHMENT BY NOW I AM AT MY WITS END. I'VE EXHAUSTED ALL EFFORTS WITH THEM! I PAID TO HAVE A GMC CERTIFIED MECHANIC RUN DIAGNOSTIC ON THESE ISSUES AT HAND AND TO MY THINKING THEY DETERMINED TO BE FLOOD AND/OR WATER DAMAGE AND WOULD NEED FURTHER DIAGNOSTICS. HOWEVER PUZZLING THE VIN IS CLEAN AND NO RECENT OR ACTIVE RECALLS. I AM BARELY INTO THIS CONTRACT 3 MONTHS!

MY 2008 GMC ACADIA LEAKS WATER IN SEVERAL DIFFERENT LOCATIONS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WHEN IT RAINS. IT HAS LEAKED WATER THROUGH THE AIR BAGS AND I'M NOW CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAGS COULD BE WATER DAMAGED AND COMPROMISED. IT LEAKS THROUGH ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. IT SMELLS LIKE MOLD AND MILDEW IN THE CAR. CONDENSATION BUILDS UP IN THE CAR FREQUENTLY AFTER IT RAINS. THE CAR WILL ALSO SPUTTER AND ACT LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY SOMETIMES. IT TELLS ME TO 'SERVICE TRACTION CONTROLS' AND 'SERVICE STABILITRACK'.
THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF ABRUPTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE AS TURNED OFF IN A PARKED-IDLING POSITION, ROLLING AT FIVE MPH, AND EVEN BETWEEN 60-70 MPH. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN THE CAR SHUTS DOWN, YOU ARE NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR WITHOUT REMOVING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND INSERTING IT TO THE ON POSITION CYCLING THAT MOTION FOUR TO FIVE TIMES. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SPOKEN TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR AS I HAVE AND THEY ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I AM CERTAIN I AM NOT THE ONLY COMPLAINT REGARDING THIS ISSUE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY AND MYSELF BECAUSE AS MENTIONED BEFORE, THIS HAPPENS AT RANDOM. THERE SHOULD BE SOME KIND OF RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, HOWEVER THERE IS NOT. THE NEW FIX PER RECALL BULLETIN NO. 14030B: DEALERS WILL REMOVE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS AND SPLICE AND SOLDER THE WIRES TOGETHER. THE OLD FIX BEFORE THE FORMAL RECALL: DEALERS REMOVED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS CONNECTORS AND SPLICED AND SOLDERED THE WIRES TOGETHER. PRIOR TO THE 2014 RECALL, GM THOUGHT THAT ONLY THE PASSENGER WIRE HARNESS WAS FAULTY. IN 2011 I PARTICIPATED IN GM'S VOLUNTARY FIX (JUST THE PASS SIDE) BEFORE THE FORMAL RECALL ' NOW GM STATES THAT MY VEHICLE DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE CORRECT RECALL FIX OF BOTH WIRE HARNESSES. THEY STRONGLY RECOMMEND I PAY $350 TO HAVE THE WIRE HARNESS REPAIRED THE WAY THE RECALL OUTLINES.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 1-800-462-8782 AND DID NOT ASSIST. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.
HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE GARAGE CLEANING IT OUT. HATCH WAS UP AND DOORS WERE OPEN. VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING. I WAS IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE PUTTING THE 2 BACK SEATS DOWN. I HAD 1 LEG INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE OTHER HANGING OUT OF THE BACK. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BACK GATE CAME CRASHING DOWN WITH NO WARNING ONTO MY LEG. I HAD TO SHUT MY VEHICLE DOWN AND SIT WITH TWO CHILDREN IN THE CAR WAITING FOR THE CAR TO SOMEHOW RIGHT ITSELF. AFTER 10 MINUTES I TRIED TURNING IT ON AND THE ERRORS WERE GONE AND THE CAR DROVE AGAIN, EXCEPT ROUGH. I TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL AUTO STORE AND THE DIAGNOSED IT WITH THE CODE READER AS TAC. THROTTLE BODY. THE PERSON AT THE COUNTER SAID THEY SEE THIS ALL THE TIME WITH THIS VEHICLE. IN FACT, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE IT'S SO COMMON AND A CLEAR FLAW IN THE DESIGN. TO THE TUNE OF $199 YOU CAN REPLACE THE PART AND HAVE THE SAME THING HAPPEN ALL OVER AGAIN AT SOME OTHER RANDOM, UNSAFE TIME! THANK YOU GM FOR YET ANOTHER UNRELIABLE FAMILY VEHICLE. TIMING CHAIN WAS REPLACED ABOUT 3,000 MILES AGO. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED JUST MINUTES BEFORE EXITING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I ACCELERATED TO A MAXIMUM OF 45MPH BEFORE THE ENGINE STARTED TO "PUTT" AND THEN I THOUGHT THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THE VEHICLE, THE RPM SKYROCKETED, I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO PULL OVER AND IT STARTED SMOKING / STEAMING AND OIL AND WATER WERE SPEWING OUT ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. I THOUGHT IT WAS ON FIRE. SEVERAL PASSERS-BY NOTICED AND CALLED POLICE REPORTING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, I CALLED A TOW TRUCK. GOT A RIDE TO WORK. TOWED TO THE DEALER / SERVICE CENTER WHO REPLACED TIMING CHAIN. THEY SAID THE ENGINE IS SHOT. 2 PISTONS FELL OUT. CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT NEEDS TO OCCUR ON THIS VEHICLE. IT IS A PILE OF JUNK TO FIX AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE. TIMING CHAIN AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. ENGINE PROBLEMS. UNRECALLED, DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS IN THESE GMC ACADIA'S CAUSE CATASTROPHIC PERMANENT UNSAFE ENGINE DAMAGE. GMC WILL NOT RECALL UNLESS THEY ARE FORCED TO, DUE TO THE COST OF REPLACING THE ENTIRE ENGINE AFTER THE TIMING CHAIN FAILURES. I THOUGHT THE VEHICLE WAS GOING TO EXPLODE WHEN I PULLED OVER WHEN THE ENGINE FAILED; I JUMPED OUT AND BACKED AWAY TO A SAFE DISTANCE. SCARIEST DRIVING MOMENT I'VE EVER EXPERIENCE.
