BOUGHT 2008 ACADIA LOVE CAR BUT WHEN IT RAINS IT LEAKS IN HEADLINER HAD DRAIN TUBES CLEANED WORKED ABOUT A MONTH NEEDED TO BE DONE AGAIN CALLED GM ABOUT A RECALL SAID THEY HADN'T HAD ANY COMPLAINTS WHICH I SEE IS NOT TRUE BUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE DRAIN TUBES IS THE ELBOW WHAT IDIOT WOULD EXPECT TO HAVE GOOD DRAINAGE WITH A ELBOW CONNECTED TO A SMALL DRAIN TUBE GM DOESN'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS AND NEEDS SOMEONE WITH COMMON SENSE TO DESIGN SUCH PARTS. IF IT DOESN'T WORK THEY SHOULD FIX IT THESE VEHICLES ARE HIGH PRICED AND CHEAPLY MADE. DRIVING OR PARKED STILL LEAKS
WHAT'S NOT WRONG WITH THIS CAR?? I BOUGHT IT USED WITH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER A YEAR EVERYTHING WENT DOWNHILL. IT HAS BEEN IN AND OUT THE GMC SERVICE AT LEASE 3 TIMES A YEAR. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START. THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON BUT IT ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE AIRBAG RECALL. WHAT ABOUT SAFETY? THERE HAS BEEN A CHECK STABILITY TRAC AND TRACTION LIGHTS ON AS WELL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. WHEN THOSE LIGHTS COME ON THE VEHICLE DECELERATED WHILE DRIVING ACROSS THE KENTUCKY BRIDGE WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A 12 CAR PILE UP. IN ADDITION, IT ALSO SKIPS GEARS. WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP IT JERKS INTO THE NEXT GEAR LIKE A HICCUP. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THESE PROBLEMS WERE ELECTRIC AND WEAR COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. I SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD. HOWEVER, THEY STATED OTHERWISE. LITERALLY, 4 MONTHS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS OUT. BUT WHAT A SURPRISE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. NOW I'M LOOKING AT A $5,000 BILL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT IT IS TRANSMISSION FAILURE DUE TO AN ELECTRIC ISSUE (OUT OF MY CONTROL). THERE IS NOTHING THAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING. BUT AFTER TALKING TO GM THEY, BASICALLY EXPLAINED THAT THEY DON'T STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT AFTER 100,000 AND THAT THEY CAN'T PROVE THAT THE ISSUES ARE ACTUALLY MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. I STRONGLY DISAGREE AS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME HARDSHIPS AS ME WITH THE 2008 VEHICLE. ON [XXX], FOR GMC ACADIA, 2008 IS THE WORST YEAR WITH THE MOST COMPLAINTS FOR TRANSMISSION FAILURE. HOW AREN'T THESE ALREADY RECALLED BY NOW? THEY ARE NOTHING BUT JUNK! NOT WORK ANYTHING. EVEN A GMC SERVICE REP. SAID THESE WERE THE WORSE YEAR AND GET THEM IN THE SHOP ALL THE TIME. WHY WON'T GMC JUST ISSSUE A RECALL AND TAKE THEM OFF THE MARKET. I HAVE ALL THE PROOF OF REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND SERVICE RECEIPTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL, AND ABS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE IN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE MODE. FOUR BY FOUR CENTER IN ESSEX, VERMONT WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A TIMING CHAIN FAILURE THAT WAS COMMON IN THAT TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
WE HAVE A 2008 GMC ACADIA THAT NOW HAS APPROXIMATELY 164,000 MILES. IT WAS RECENTLY FOUND OUT THAT A WATER LEAK HAS CAUSED THE AIRBAG SYSTEM TO BE COME COMPLETELY DISABLED. WATER LEAKS IN THESE MODEL VEHICLES ARE A KNOWN ISSUE AND GM HAS PUT OUT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ABOUT THESE LEAKS AND HOW TO FIX THEM. BECAUSE OUR VEHICLE IS OVER THE MILEAGE LIMIT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS SAYING GM WILL NOT WARRANTY THE LEAK REPAIR OR THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRBAG SYSTEM FROM THE LEAK. WE ARE NOW FACED WITH A BILL OF $1600 TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG SYSTEM AND UNKNOWN AMOUNT TO REPAIR THE WATER LEAK AND ANY OTHER DAMAGE CAUSED BY IT TO THE VEHICLE. WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS WHY A LEAKING SUNROOF WITH ADMITTED FACTORY DEFECT ISSUES FROM THE MANUFACTURE HAS A MILEAGE LIMIT FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS. I CAN UNDERSTAND A TIME LIMIT. THIS ISSUE HAS NOW MADE OUR VEHICLE COMPLETELY UNSAFE FOR MY FAMILY TO DRIVE AND RIDE IN.
VEHICLE WILL CUT OFF, STILL RUNS AFTER SWITCH IS OFF, WHEN MAKING A TURN POPPING IN THE WHEEL, STEERING GETS HARD WHEN MAKING A TURN, SOMETHING KILLS BATTERY AND IT LEAKS INSIDE, THIS HAPPENS WHETHER IN MOTION OR NOT
I PURCHASED A USED 2008 GMC ACADIA IN MAY 2017 EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER IS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL AND I KNEW THAT WE WOULD BE NEEDING IT TO TRAVEL FROM STATE TO STATE FOR COLLEGE TOURS. EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TRAVEL BECAUSE OF THE CONTINUOUS LIGHT TO COME ON, CONTINUOUS CODES THAT COMES ON AND IT CAUSES THE CAR TO RUN HORRIBLY I AM SPENDING $20-$30 A DAY ON GAS AND I'M ALSO NOTICING THAT THE OIL IS JUST EVAPORATING BUT I'M NOT SEEING IT ON THE GROUND I CONTINUE TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC HE CONTINUE TO FIX THINGS THAT THE CODES GIVES HIM. I'M STILL SPENDING MONEY AND I'M STILL NOT GETTING ANY RESULTS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I REFUSE TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY CHILD AND BREAKDOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. WHAT WE NEED TO DO IS START A PETITION WITH GMC BECAUSE IF EVERYONE IS HAVING THESE PROBLEMS THEN IT IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM I AM TO THE POINT WHERE I AM READY TO START A LAWSUIT. I MEAN LET'S BE HONEST WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR EITHER US OR ONE OF OUR LOVED ONES TO DIE AND IS KNOWN DEATH TRAP. THERE ARE SO MANY RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE THAT ALL OF THEM SHOULD BE JUST CALLED IN AND REPAIRED APPARENTLY IT'S A PROBLEM WITH GMC ASSEMBLING THE VEHICLE AND THEY DO NOT WANT TO OWN UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES AND IT'S NOT FAIR TO US THAT I LIVES ARE AT STAKE.
THE STEERING IN MY 2008 GMS ACADIA IS SEVERELY TIGHTENING WHEN I'M AT LOW SPEED MAKING A TURN INTO PARKING SPACE OR GARAGE FOR EXAMPLE. ITS VERY HARD TO TURN AND IS DANGEROUS. WE'VE HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED ONE TIME BEFORE BUT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME WE'VE HAD THIS ISSUE. I HAVE 123,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO BE RECALLED.
I AM EXPERIENCING STEER LOSS WHEN AT LOW SPEEDS WHICH INVOLVE TURNING STREET CORNERS, PULLING AND OUT OF PARKING LOT SPACES AND ANY OTHER TIME A 90 DEGREE TURN IS REQUIRED (MOST OFTEN IN ANY CITY TRAVEL). THE STEERING BECOMES SO TIGHT IN THESE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WIDER TURNS ARE REQUIRED WHEN STEERING WHEEL WON'T ENGAGE TO ASSIST. AT STREET CORNERS, THIS MEANS WIDER TURNS WHERE ATTENTION TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC IS DANGEROUS. IN PARKING LOTS, THE ABILITY TO PULL INTO A SPACE IS IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT 3-4 POINT TURNS TO MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. THIS TOO CAN BLOCK ONCOMING VEHICLES AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, AVOID CONTACT WITH THOSE PARKED IN THE ADJACENT SPACES. THE WHEEL CAN BE IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AND FREEZE ON YOU WHEN YOU ARE NOT APPLYING THE GAS AND YOU DON'T WANT TO APPLY THE GAS WHEN YOUR TURN IS ALREADY TOO WIDE FOR A STREET CORNER TURN AND TRAFFIC IS COMING YOUR WAY OR YOU ARE TRYING TO AVOID PARKED CARS NEXT YOU WHEN PULLING IN OR OUT OF PARKING SPACES. BOTH STRAIGHT ON PARKING AND VERTICAL PARKING IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO MANEUVER IN. MY VEHICLE HAS 119,200 MILES. I NOTICED MY STEERING GETTING STIFFER ON RARE OCCASIONS AT 88,000 MILES BUT I WAS ALWAYS ABLE TO MAKE MY TURNS PROPERLY. I DO A LOT OF HIGHWAY TRAVEL NOW SO MY MILES HAVE ADDED UP QUICKLY IN THE LAST YEAR AND A HALF. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST MAJOR PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY FIRST WAS AT 67,000 WHEN THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. PRIOR TO THAT, THE ENTIRE BACK AXLE HAD TO BE REPLACED (UNDER WARRANTY). SINCE THEN, THE THROTTLE BODY AT 84,000 MILES. RECALLS OF SEVERAL GM VEHICLES HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THE POWER STEERING AND THE RACK AND PINION BUT THE 2008 ACADIA IS NOT LISTED. THESE STEERING ISSUES ARE NOT "ONE-OFF" SITUATIONS PER VEHICLE BUT RATHER ENTIRE POPULATIONS OF OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE WITH A COMMON PROBLEM - POWER STEERING NOT WORKING PROPERLY AT SEVERAL INTERVALS OF MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE!
AS I WAS DRIVING TO PICK MY KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL, MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COME ON INDICATING THAT MY TRACTION CONTROL WAS TURNED OFF. THEN THE STABLITRACK LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER BECAUSE MY VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS MISSING AND ABOUT TO GO DEAD. I CUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN. THE LIGHTS WERE OFF AND IT RUN FINE. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK THE LIGHTS STARTED TO COME ON AGAIN AND THEN I RECEIVED A MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE HAD REDUCED SPEED. I MASHED THE ACCELERATOR BUT COULD NOT DRIVE FASTER THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR. THERE WAS A LOT OF TRAFFIC BEHIND ME AND WHEN MY VEHICLE STALLED I ALMOST WAS HIT FROM BEHIND. I'VE CALLED GMC AND THEY WERE NO HELP! THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I LOOKED ONLINE TO SEE IF OTHER ACADIA OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND A RECALL TO FIX THE ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR VEHICLE TO STALL OUT ON YOU ON A MAIN HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY ARE NOT SURE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. OTHERS REPORTED TAKING THEIR ACADIA TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HAVING TO PAY TO REPLACE SEVERAL PARTS AND THE ISSUE IS STILL NOT RESOLVED.
I HEAR WATER SWISHING AROUND IN THE CEILING, HOWEVER NOTHING SEEMS TO BE WET. THE SUNROOF IS ALWAYS CLOSED. TWENTY MINUTES INTO THE DRIVE TO WORK, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH BOARD CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED).... THE DASH BRAKE LIGHT AND CHIME SOUND CONTINUED UNTIL I REACHED MY DESTINATION. WHEN I FINALLY STOPPED AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON...BOTH HAD STOPPED. AFTER COMPLETING MY WORK DAY, I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DASH LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN...THE BRAKE WAS NOT ENGAGED....I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED...THEN IT WENT AWAY. I STILL HERE WATER IN THE ROOF WHEN I TURN CORNERS.
2ND TIME TO DEALER FOR WATER LEAK FROM SUNROOF (THIS TIME FROM SUNROOF THAT DOES NOT OPEN). SOAKING WET PASSENGER FLOOR, FUSE BOX OPENED FROM WATER, WATER COMING FROM SIDE PILLARS. DIAGNOSIS LAST TIME WAS TUBES, THIS TIME WINDOW REPLACED AND ENTIRE ROOF SEALED. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WATER RUNNING THRU FUSE BOX/ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. COMMON PROBLEM, TSB'S AND YET NO RECALL BY GM. DEALER REFUSES TO HONOR TSB & REQUEST GM PAY FOR REPAIRS. $400.00 JUST FOR LABOR. READING ALL OVER THE INTERNET PLUS TSBS, WATER DAMAGE IS COMMON FOR 2008 ACADIA AND FUTURE VEHICLES. THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWING GM TO CONTINUE PUTTING OUR LIVES AT RISK & NOT FORCING A RECALL IS RIDICULOUS. I UNDERSTAND NORMAL WEAR & TEAR BUT GM ACADIA'S ARE DEFECTIVE, ALL OF MY REPAIRS HAVE BEEN DUE TO DEFECTS!
HAPPENED 2X ALREADY. VEHICLE IS IN MOTION HIGH RATE OF SPEED 55 TO 75 MPH, ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND VEHICLE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN DRASTICALLY ON ITS OWN. EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF LOOSING ALL POWER AND POWER STEERING. HAPPENED ONCE ON HIGHWAY AND ONCE ON A MAJOR BUSY ROAD. IF YOU TRY TO ACCELERATE THERE IS NO POWER. THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STALLS WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE I COULD NOT EVEN TELL THE ENGINE STOPPED BECAUSE THE DASH BOARD LIGHTS STILL WORKED. PULLED OVER, WAIT 10 TO 15 MINUTES AND THEN TRY TO START VEHICLE. IT WILL START AND EVERYTHING SEEMS NORMAL AGAIN. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED I HAD MY 3 KIDS IN CAR. NOT SAFE AT ALL. TOOK IT TO DEALER AND THEY HAVE NO CLUE. SAID IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH TRANSMISSION.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, BOTH SIDE AIR CURTAINS DEPLOYED WITHOUT PROVOCATION. IT WAS FRIGHTENING. I NOTIFIED GMC. THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THAT HAS NO EVIDENCE OF ROLLOVER WHATSOEVER. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY WILL NOT CONCEDE ANY MALFUNCTION. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE REPAIR IS NOT TOTALLY MY RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE MY INSURANCE WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT ALWAYS ON. REPORTED ISSUE TO GMC THEY STATED THAT YES THE 2008 GMC ACADIA HAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR CERTAIN VIN NUMBER AND THAT ALTHOUGH MY ACADIA HAS ALL THE SAME EQUIPMENT AND AIRBAGS AS THE RECALLED ACADIA'S BUT BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT ON THE LIST THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST AND THAT FOR THEM TO REPAIR THE ISSUE WHICH IS SPECIFIED BY THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SPECIFIED FOR THE AIRBAG RECALL WOULD BE AT MY COST. IF THE RECALL DOESN'T AFFECT MY VIN NUMBER WHY IS THE REPAIR EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE RECALL? THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AT ALL TIMES
WHEN DRIVING MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON AS I MOVE AROUND IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. NOW IT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME.
THIS CAR HAS LEAKED SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM MULTIPLE TIMES. THE LAST TIME THEY LOOKED AT IT THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS A LEAK BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND WHERE IT WAS. MY AMP HAS SHORTED OUT DUE TO ALL THE WATER AND I CAN IMAGINE WHAT'S NEXT. I AM SO SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR BECAUSE OF WHAT COULD GO OUT NEXT. I WISH GMC WOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT ALL OF OUR ISSUES WITH THE SAME WATER LEAK! I AM GETTING PRETTY TIRED OF GETTING RAINED ON INSIDE MY CAR.
TURNING AT LOWER SPEEDS VERY HARD..... TEMP LOSS OF POWER ASSIST.... VERY DANGEROUS
APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO, MY 2008 GMC ACADIA WAS SERVICED AT 140,000 MILES FOR WORN OUT TIMING CHAINS. NOW, I AM LOOKING AT PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. HOW CONVENIENT. WITHIN THREE WEEKS THIS VEHICLE HAS FAILED ON ME. THE TIMING CHAINS WERE RATTLING IN TURNS WHEN IT WAS TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. I ACTUALLY VISITED AND LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED, SO I WAS RIDING AROUND WITH A FAULTY PART IN MY ENGINE. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AFTER I HAD EXITED THE INTERSTATE AT WHICH POINT I COULD NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 10 MPH. GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN IT DECIDED TO STALL OUT ON ME AS I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW DISASTROUS THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN. THE 2007 AND 2009 GMC MODELS WERE RECALLED FOR TIMING CHAIN ISSUES, NEVER THE 2008 MODEL. THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS RELATED TO THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE, WHICH HAD A 20,000 MILE EXTENSION FROM GM TO COVER THE REPAIR IF THIS BROKE, WHICH OF COURSE I AM OUT OF, THUS THE REPAIR COSTS FOR BOTH DEFECTS ARE MY PROBLEM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY WILL NOT BACK THEIR PRODUCTS KNOWING THAT THEY ARE FAULTY. GM NEEDS TO STEP UP AND MAN UP TO THE FACT THEY HAVE INFERIOR PRODUCTS INSIDE THESE ENGINES AND TRANSMISSIONS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BASE OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT DETACHED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE UNKNOWN.

YOUR ENGINE AND KEY COMPONENTS AND CRANKSHAFTS AND SENSORS RELY ON THE TIMING CHAIN IN ORDER TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING IN YOUR VEHICLE AND THE TIMING CHAIN GETS STRETCHED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES ON, THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WILL POWER DOWN AND SHUT OFF, A LOUD BUZZING SOUND WILL OCCUR AND HOPE TO GOD YOU ARE NOT ON THE HIGHWAY, BECAUSE GENERAL MOTORS KNOWS ABOUT THE DEFECT BUT STILL WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL ON THE PREMATURELY STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS DUE TO THE EXTENSIVE COST OF REPAIR. THEY HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE ON CERTAIN SIMILAR MODELS IN 2007 AND 2009, AND HAVE OFFER FULL REPLACEMENT OF THE TIMING CHAIN UP TO 10 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES, BUT DESPITE THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRING IN VEHICLES MADE IN 2008 WITH THE SAME DEFECTS, THEY HAVE DENIED MY SERVICE REQUEST. THIS A VERY COSTLY AND EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN. IT IS TERRIFYING WHEN YOUR ENGINE MISFIRES AND POWERS DOWN, AND YOUR WARNING LIGHTS FLASH WITH A LOUD BUZZING ALARM SOUND BLARING THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. THE TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITRAK SYSTEM, AND AIRBAG SENSORS ARE ALL ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN AS WELL, AND THE MANUFACTURER IS WELL AWARE OF THIS DEFECT AND UNFORTUNATELY WILL PROBABLY NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE UNTIL SOMEONE IS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT AS A RESULT OF A DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAIN. I'M SO DISAPPOINTED IN THIS VEHICLE AND THE LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY THROUGH THE MANUFACTURER. THEY KNOW IT'S A PROBLEM. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE DEFECT. TWO YEARS LATER, THE WAVE PLATE FAILED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE, THIRD GEAR, AND FIFTH GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INSTRUCTED THE CONTACT TO SEEK REIMBURSEMENT; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER DENIED THE CLAIM, STATING THAT THE CONTACT EXCEEDED THE VEHICLE/AGE STIPULATIONS FOR THE RECALL REPAIR/REIMBURSEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL, BUT THE DETAILS WERE NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON PERIODICALLY (STARTED IN JAN 2017). LIGHT ONLY CAME ON FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS THEN THE AIR BAG INDICATOR WOULD LIGHT UP. TOOK TO DEALER 2/2/17). DEALER INDICATES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG SENSOR. IT GOES ON AND OFF SPORADICALLY. DEALER STATED THAT PUTTING ELECTRONICS ON SEAT CAN CAUSE THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE MANUAL ABOUT NOT PUTTING CELL PHONES/PADS/ETC ON THE FRONT SEATS. UPON RESEARCHING ISSUE ON INTERNET, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH 2008 ACADIAS. PER DEALER, THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTIES, RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS. SEEMS TO ME THAT A FAULTY AIR BAG SENSOR SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE UNDER A RECALL. WITH VEHICLE IN MOTION WATER CAN BE SEEN LEAKING OUT OF AIR BAG LABEL ON DRIVER SIDE PANEL BETWEEN WINDSHIELD AND DOOR. INSPECTED DRAIN TUBES FROM SUNROOF AND FOUND THEM TO BE COMPLETELY CLOGGED. UPON CLEARING DEBRIS CLOGGING THE TUBES AN EXESSIVE AMOUNT OF WATER CAME SHOOTING OUT AND TUBES DRAINED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR A NON STOP STREAM. APPROXIMATELY A WEEK OR SO LATER, STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE. TESTED BATTERY AND IT WAS FINE. TESTED ALTERNATOR AND STARTER, BOTH FINE. TWO WEEKS LATER CAR WOULDN'T START AGAIN. UPON AAA ARRIVING TO JUMP MY VEHICLE WE DISCOVERED THE ENTIRE BATTERY COMPARTMENT BEHIND PASSENGER SEAT WAS COMPLETELY FILLED AND BATTERY SUBMERGED IN WATER. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND ENTIRE FLOOR BOARD SATURATED AND HEADLINER. MOLD WAS ALSO FOUND ON SEATS, SEAT BELTS, CARPET, AIR VENTS, SUN VISORS, AND DOOR PANELS.

I ALREADY WAS CONCERNED ABOUT PAYING $4000 AFTER PAYING $2000. IT HAPPENED ON HIGHWAY. GMC IS MORE THAN AWARE OF THESE ISSUES WITH THEIR CARS AND THEY ARE LEAVING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO DEAL WITH IT. I HAVE A 2002 GMC ENVOY AND NEVER PAID ANYTHING CLOSE IN REPAIRS. THERE ARE SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. WE ARE ALSO A MILITARY FAMILY WHO TRAVELS QUITE A BIT. WE STARTED GETTING ERRORS ON ROAD TRIPS AND WE EVEN HAD THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY REPAIR WHILE WE WERE OUT OF TOWN, CAUSING US TO BE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY IN THE WASHINGTON DC AREA WHEN OUR CAR JUST STOPPED. GMC IS SHOWING A TOTAL DISREGARD FOR ITS CUSTOMERS. THEY ARE AWARE OF THESE ISSUES AND THEY ARE NOT TAKING ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEM. THEY ARE PUTTING THEIR CUSTOMERS IN PHYSICAL DANGER AND WREAKING HAVOC ON OUR FINANCES. THIS IS DISGUSTING AND UNACCEPTABLE.
I HAVE HID LIGHTS AND THE LOW BEAM SOCKET OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY HAS MELTED TO THE POINT THAT THE LIGHT BULBS WILL NO LONGER STAY IN PLACE.
I NOTICED A LEAK IN MY DRIVEWAY UNDER MY 2008 ACADIA. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP SO THEY COULD FIND OUT WHERE IT WAS LEAKING. THEY FOUND THE ENGINE LEAKING IN SEVERAL PLACES INCLUDING THE FRONT COVER. IN ADDITION TO THE ENGINE LEAKING, THEY ALSO FOUND THE WATER PUMP TO BE LEAKING AND IN NEED OF BEING REPLACED. WHILE PUTTING NEW SEALS IN THE ENGINE, THEY FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAINS WERE SHOWING SIGNS OF WEAR AS WELL. ALL IN ALL, THE CAR NEEDED SEVERAL SEALS REPLACED, THE TIMING CHAINS REPLACED, THE WATER PUMP REPLACED, AND THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED. THE CAR ONLY HAS 73000 MILES ON IT!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE POWER STEERING SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING, WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO VEER OFF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
