DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS BULBS REPEATEDLY BURNED OUT AND NOW THE WIRE HARNESS HAS MELTED DOWN. FUSE FAILED TO TRIP. DAMAGE HAS NOW BEEN CAUSED TO THE ENTIRE DRL ASSEMBLY (MELTING, SEE PHOTO). ADDITIONALLY I AM CONCERNED THAT WHATEVER CAUSED THE BULB AND WIRING TO MELT WILL CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE AND ENDANGER MY FAMILY. THERE ARE MANY CASES OF THE DRL BULB AND HARNESS MELTING, BUT MY LOCAL GM DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL WHEN I CALLED TO DISCUSS THE ISSUE. GM/SATURN RELEASED A LETTER AUTHORIZING PAID REPAIRS, THAT WAS VALID FROM 2011-2013, BUT THESE VEHICLES ARE STILL ON THE ROAD, AND IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL REGARDLESS OF WARRANTY STATUS. THE REPLACEMENT PARTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED--GM KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE COMPONENTS.
VEHICLE LURCHES WHEN GOING FROM 10MPH TO 20MPH WAS GOING DOWNHILL WOULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE ONCE I WAS AT 40-45 MPH IT REVS UP TO 4 AND NOTHING HAD TO COAST DOWNHILL TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AND STOP THE CAR. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO SOLD IT TO ME AND HE WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE SAME ISSUE UNDER SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES. THE DEALERSHIP WILL LOOK AT IT BUT I BOUGHT IT USED FOR MY FAMILY AT 99,950 MILES 8 DAYS AGO
I HAVE HID HEADLIGHT AND BOTH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS HAVE SEVERELY MELTED AND CRACKED REFLECTORS. BOTH BULBS WERE MELTED INTO THERE SOCKETS TO THE POINT I HAD TO COMPLETELY REPLACE THE SOCKET. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO RE INSERT THE SOCKET INTO THE REFLECTOR HOUSING I WAS UN ABLE TO INSTALL IT AS THE REFLECTOR WAS MISSING OVER HALF OF THE RETAINING RING DUE TO IT BEING MELTED. ONE SOCKET LOOKED EXTREMELY BLACKENED DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT. BOTH LIGHT ARE TEMP INSTALLED AS I AM UNABLE TO CORRECTLY INSTALL DUE TO SEVERELY MELTED REFLECTOR.
WHILE DRIVING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS IN 90+ DEGREE WEATHER, THE 2008 GMC ACADIA EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER. ENGINE QUIT ALONG WITH ALL ELECTRONICS, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. LET CAR SIT FOR 20 MINUTES AND IT STARTED UP AND DROVE FINE FOR A WEEK OR SO THEN THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES WITHIN 5 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND TWO DEALERSHIPS. OF THOSE DEALERSHIPS, WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL AUTONATION GMC DEALER 3 TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF 2 WEEKS AND ALL GROUPS WHO HAVE LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND AND "CODES" AFTER RUNNING THE COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS. WE HAVE REQUESTED AN ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC COMPUTER TO BE ORDERED FROM AUTONATION GMC PARK MEADOWS (CO) BUT HAVE RECEIVED NO RESPONSE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY AND INTERSTATE SPEEDS. HAVE RESEARCHED OTHER CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE BRAKES SEIZED, AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART ON THE FIRST ATTEMPT. THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 131,000.
PURCHASED NEW, HAVE HAD THE FOLLOWING PROBLEMS 2011 :WATER PUMP FAILED, AND ENGINE OIL LEAK NEW PUMP AND GASKETS,2012: OIL PRESSURE SENSOR REPLACED, 2013: WAVE PLATE BROKEN SENT METAL THROUGH TRANSMISSION MAJOR TRANSMISSION REPAIR, FRONT AND REAR A/C FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. 2014: MASTER CYLINDER LEAKING - REPLACED. 2016: PURGE SOLENOID STUCK OPEN WAS REPLACED, OIL LEAK- TIMING COVER LEAKING (DID NOT REPLACE- TOO EXPENSIVE)- MULTIPLE CALLS TO GMC AND DEALING WITH THE DEALER NOT SATISFIED AND FEEL THE CAR IS A SAFETY RISK.
SERVICE AIRBAG COMES ON AND OFF AT TIMES THIS WAS REPAIRED AT ONE TIME BUT NOW IT'S COMING BACK ON AGAIN
I NOTICED THAT WHEN DRIVING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AND WOULD ATTEMPT TO PASS A SLOWER MOVING VEHICLE, AS I WOULD MOVE INTO THE PASSING LANE AND ATTEMPT TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR WOULD HESITATE FOR A FEW SECONDS, LOSE SPEED, THEN SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT AND ACCELERATE AT AN UNEXPECTED RATE. I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG, BUT THE WHAT I WAS EXPERIENCING WAS CHARACTERISTIC OF THE 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION ON THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AND I FOUND IT DANGEROUS. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE AND THE DEALER'S REMEDY WAS TO "RESET THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER." DURING THIS TIME, I ALSO NOTICED THAT THE "SERVICE STABILITRAC AND TRACTION CONTROL" WARNING WOULD COME ON. IT DOSEN'T MATTER IF YOUR DRIVING OR IDLE OR IN PARK THESE WARNINGS AND PROBLEMS STILL EXIST.THE DEALER FIXED ONE WHEEL SENSOR BUT THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. THE SERVICE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHTS STILL COMES ON THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THAT I HAD IT FIXED BUT WARNING STILL COMES ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD SO MANY RECALLS AUTOMATIC LIFT GATE, AIR BAG WARNINGS, POWER STEERING PUMP AND HOSE. THE RACK & PINION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED IN THE VEHICLES SHORT LIFE SPAN, ALL OF THE SUSPENSION PARTS BUSHINGS WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT SOME POINT SO THIS MEANS CONTROL ARM, SWAY BAR SWAY, SWAY BAR LINKS TOE LINKS OF COURSE WITH THESE ISSUES YOU WILL HAVE TO REPLACE STRUTS AND SHOCKS, ETC...HOW CAN GOVERNMENT/GENERAL MOTORS SELL A VEHICLE THIS EXPENSIVE AND HAVE SO MANY PROBLEMS THESE VEHICLES ARE UNSAFE TO DRIVE SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT.MY 08 GMC ACADIA IS PURE GARBAGE SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE THESE VEHICLES HAVE MAJOR MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES, RECALLS AND ARE UNSAFE TO BE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE SUN ROOF COMPARTMENT, IT WAS FILLED WITH WATER WHICH AFFECTED THE RADIO, TURN SIGNAL VOLUME, AND RADIO. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS THAT RAN FROM THE DOOR INTO THE SIDE WALL OF ALL FOUR DOORS, WERE FILLED WITH WATER. THE VEHICLE ALSO FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWING AMPLIFIER AND BATTERY FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,153.
I JUST REPLACED MY LEFT SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS. WHEN I PULLED OUT THE OLD BULB, IT LOOKED BURNT ON THE TIP OF INSTEAD OF THE FIRST TIME I TREPLACED IT A YEAR AGO WHEN THE WIRES BECAME LOOSE AND BURNT OUT LIKE A TYPICAL LIGHT BULB. TODAY IS THE SECOND TIME WITHIN A WEEK THAT THE SPEAKERS WENT OUT AND THERE WAS NO SOUND COMING OUT AT ALL. THE MAIN FUSE IS GOOD AND I DRAINED THE WATER FROM THE CONNECTORS ON ALL THE DOORS. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SHORTAGE SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM BECAUSE IT WOULD TAKE 5-10 MINUTES FOR THE SOUND TO COME BACK ON. DOES ANYONE KNOW ANY SOLUTIONS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM DIY INSTEAD OF TAKING IT TO THE DEALER?
2008 ACADIA PURCHASED NEW. NOTICED POWER STEERING BECOMING MORE AND MORE DIFFICULT AT LOW ENGINE SPEED OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS. FLUID LEVEL OK. TOOK TO DEALER TO ASSESS AND QUOTE. THEY SAID IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH ACADIA, TRAVERSE, OUTLOOK, AND ENCLAVE. THEY SAID IT NEEDED POWER STEERING PUMP, RESERVOIR AND STEERING RACK, ABOUT 1,100 DOLLARS TO FIX. THEY SAID GM HAD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED. 152,000 ACTUAL MILES. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT JUST HOW COMMON IT IS, AND THAT THE WARRANTY COVERAGE ACTUALLY WAS TO 150,225 MILES. I CALLED THE GMC CUSTOMER ENGAGEMENT CENTER AFTER STEWING OVER THIS FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. THEY SAID THAT SINCE I WAS BEYOND THE ALLOWED MILEAGE, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I WAS TALKING WITH MY BOSS ABOUT THIS. HE HAS A 2009 ENCLAVE WITH 60K MILES. HE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH STEERING, AND DEALER TOLD HIM IT WAS NOT COVERED. I SHOWED HIM WHAT I HAD FOUND. HE IS GOING BACK TO THE DEALER WITH DOCUMENTATION. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WHEN STEERING IS ENTIRELY MANUAL AT LOW ENGINE SPEED FOR INSTANCE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT OR DRIVE. EVEN TURNING A CORNER WHEN NOT ACCELERATING. PARALLEL PARKING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. GM SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THESE VEHICLES. I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY TO GET THIS FIXED. GM HAS JUST LOST A CUSTOMER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START WHEN PROMPTED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY PART WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT NOTICED ONE ARM WAS FRACTURED ON THE LIFTGATE. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HAND, BUT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. IN ADDITION, THE SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTIUOUSLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE) AND 14V118000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING INTO THE POWER BUSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER WAS LEAKING DOWN FROM THE SUN ROOF INTO THE ELECTRICAL FUSE BOX, CAUSING CORROSION AND THE VEHICLE WOULD FAILED TO TURN OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WATER LEAKING INTO THE FUSE BOX WAS CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO TURN OFF DUE TO THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000. UPDATED 06/29/16*LJ UPDATED 08/02/16.*JB
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO IDLE SPORADICALLY. EVENTUALLY, IT STARTED TO IDLE AND NOT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. FINALLY, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP DETERMINE THE CODES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, AND FOUND P0700 AND P0776 CODES. THESE CODES REFERENCE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM ENCOUNTERED IN THE 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE WAVEPLATE MAY BE BROKEN, AND CAUSE ISSUE IN THE 3RD, 5TH, AND R GEARS. SO, NOW THE VEHICLE DOESN'T SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR, AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET ($4K) FOR AN ISSUE THAT GM KNOWS IS AN ISSUE, AND HAS SINCE CORRECTED IN THE LATER YEAR MODELS. I CALLED GM TO SEE IF THEY WOULD OFFER ANY TYPE OF ASSISTANCE, AND WAS TOLD NO, DUE TO THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE. I AM CURRENTLY AT 143,000 MILES. REGARDLESS OF THE MILES ON MY VEHICLE, IF GM PLACED A FAULTY PART IN THEIR VEHICLES, THEY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO PLACE A RECALL TO FIX IT, AND NOT HAVE IT BE THE CONSUMER'S RESPONSIBILITY!
EITHER WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR OR WHEN THE CAR IS IN MOTION THE STABILITRAK AND THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING COMES ON- SOMETIMES IT COMES WITH AN ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING AND THE CAR DOES NOT DRIVE WELL UNTIL I CAN PULL OVER AND TURN IT OFF- WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND SOMETIMES IT CLEARS WHEN I TURN IT BACK ON AND OTHER TIMES THE WARNING IS STILL THERE. MORE RECENTLY IT IS ALSO HAVING THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT COME ON AND I REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE PADS ONLY 2 MONTHS AGO SO I KNOW ITS NOT MY BRAKES. NEED THIS FIXED ASAP!
I OWN A 2008 GMC ACADIA I HAVE HAD IT USED SINCE JAN 2015 I HAVE HAD IT IN DEALERSHIP ALMOST EVERY 3 MONTHS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. I WAS RECENTLY DRIVING AND HAD A FIRE IN THE PASSENGER HEATED SEAT WHERE MY DAUGHTER WAS SITTING AND IT BURNED A SMALL HOLE IN HER JEANS SO FAR GMC IS CHECKING TO SEE IF ITS A DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT FAILURE OR NOT? IN THE MEAN TIME MY SUNROOF HAS QUIT WORKING AND NOW MY ROOF IS LEAKING AND MY CAR SMELLS LIKE MOLD. THE WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS GOING CRAZY WITH FLASHES OF INTERIOR LIGHTS. I ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE STOP ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF PARKING AND FOUND OUT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OUR CHILDREN RIDE WITH US AND THEY ARE UNSAFE ESPECIALLY NOW THAT HER JEANS ARE BURNED AND SHE HAS A SMALL PINK SPOT FROM THE HEATED SEAT. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME TODAY LIKELY THE SEAT WONT BE REPLACED AND IF ITS NOT I WILL BE CONTACTING ME A LAWYER. MY CHILDREN S SAFETY COME FIRST. HOPEFULLY THE WILL ALSO DO A RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT AND THE SUNROOF LEAKING BECAUSE OUR VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE AFTER WATER GETS ONTO ALL THE ELECTRICAL DEVICES AND SHORTS OUT AND MAY CAUSE A FIRE NEXT.
I STARTED UP MY VEHICLE AND AN ALERT COMES ON SAYING "SERVICE AIR BAG" BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER LIGHTS ON, THE AIRBAGS SHOW THEY ARE NOT FUNTIONING.
CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. TOOK TO DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED FOR $100. STAYED OFF FOR A WHILE BUT NOW COMES ON SOMETIMES IT GOES OFF. MAKES ME WONDER IF MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN IMPACT. SOMETIMES IT IS OFF WHEN CAR IS FIRST MOVING THEN COMES ON. ITS RANDOM. STARTED A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO. BUT IT IS ON AND OFF. MY HUSBAND HAS CHECKED IT AS WELL AS THE DEALER. THERE IS NO RECALL ACCORDING TO WEBSITE, BUT THERE SHOULD BE
THE RUNNING LIGHTS BURN OUT FREQUENTLY. NOT AT THE SAME TIME. EACH ONE WE'VE REPLACED AT LEAST 4 TIMES, WHICH IS WAY TOO MUCH. WE ARE USING GOOD QUALITY BULBS TOO. NOW THE INSIDE OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS MELTED WHERE THE BULB SOCKET ITSELF SNAPS IN SO WE CAN'T KEEP THE SOCKET AND BULB IN ITS PLACE. THE REPLACEMENT HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY IS NOT CHEAP FOR THIS VEHICLE
INTERMITTENT "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT. STARTED COMING ON SPRING 2016. WHEN FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SITS IN THE SEAT AND VEHICLE IS MOVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL GO ON AND OFF AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGE APPEARS. NOW THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. TOOK IT TO DEALER WHO SAID ITS THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR WHICH COSTS $1300 TO REPAIR (AFTER READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS THIS APPEARS TO BE THE HIGHEST QUOTE). I ALREADY PAID $110 FOR THE DEALER TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. NOW THE CAR HAS FAILED VIRGINIA STATE INSPECTION AND I WILL BE FORCED TO SELL IT OR REPAIR IT. I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE BUT WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS I DON"T KNOW WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL. MY VIN# DOESN'T FALL WITHIN THE RANGE. THE SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS OTHER VEHICLES COVERED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF THE RECALL. HOW CAN I GET SOME ASSISTANCE WITH THIS? GMC SHOULD FIX THE SENSOR AT NO COST TO CONSUMER.

IN ADDITION, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE PEDAL SHOOK VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. DRAIN LINES ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE ARE CONSTANTLY BEING CHECKED FOR BLOCKAGE BUT NO BLOCKED. INSIDE OF WINDOWS GET ICE DURING WINTER AND HUMIDITY BUILDUP WHEN TEMPS ARE ABOVE FREEZING. I BELIEVE IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY. IT STARTED ABOUT OCT 2013
I HAVE NOTICED BEFORE AFTER A RAIN THE WINDSHIELD WOULD FOG REALLY BAD SO I FIGURED I HAD A SMALL ROOF LEAK, HOWEVER I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS A MAJOR LEAK. I OPEN THE DOOR AND NOTICED BOTH FRONT FLOOR BOARDS ARE WET. I VACUUM IT OUT AND GET ABOUT 8 GALLONS OF WATER OUT. IT WOULDN'T START SO AFTER LOCATING THE BATTERY IN THE PASSENGER FLOOR BOARD THE BATTERY BOX WAS FULL OF WATER. I VACUUM THAT OUT. I LET IT DRY FOR A WHILE AND JUMP IT OFF. IT CRANKED FINE AND I LET IT IDLE FOR A WHILE. I CLOSED THE DOORS WITH WINDOWS DOWN WITH IT STILL RUNNING AND PUT A FAN IN THE FRONT SEAT. IT WAS SITTING IN MY GARAGE RUNNING, WITH A BOX FAN IN THE FRONT SEAT BLOWING, I SHUT THE DOORS WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, AND ABOUT 30 SECONDS AFTER I SHUT THE DOOR I AM STANDING BESIDE IT AND HEAR A LOUD EXPLOSION. I LOOK OVER AND BOTH SIDE CURTAIN LIKE AIR BAGS HAD DEPLOYED. THE CAR SHUTS OFF, THE FLASHERS COME ON. AFTER I GAIN MY COMPOSURE FROM BEING SCARED TO DEATH FROM THE NOISE, I REACH IN AND TURN THE KEY OFF. AFTER THAT I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY BECAUSE I WAS THEN AFRAID IT MAY BLOW MORE AIR BAGS OR SHORT OUT AND CATCH FIRE. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND NOTICE THERE ARE TONS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE ROOF LEAKS, THERE ARE A FEW TECHNICAL BULLETINS THAT GM HAS ABOUT IT AS WELL, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO RECALL SINCE IT ISN'T A SAFETY ISSUE. WELL, IF THE ROOF LEAK IS GETTING ENOUGH WATER IN THE VEHICLE THAT IT CAUSES THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY FOR NO REASON, I BELIEVE THIS IS A REAL SAFETY CONCERN. I AM JUST GRATEFUL I WASN'T DRIVING IT AND MY 2 YOUNG KIDS WERE NOT IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENED. I JUST BOUGHT LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO FROM A DEALER. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD PREVIOUS ISSUES WITH WATER FROM SUN ROOF LEAKING INTO CABIN, POSSIBLY CONTRIBUTING. TRANSMISSION RECENTLY REPAIRED. INTERNAL SWITCH MODULE REPLACED. AUDIO AMP RECENTLY REPLACED, TOTALLY INOP.
MY CAR LEAKS ALL AT THE TOP OF THE CAR WHEN IT RAINS. THE SUNROOF DOES NOT LEAK BUT AROUND THE WINDSHIELD LEAKS, IN THE BACK SEAT BY THE LIGHTS IT LEAKS AND AT THE EMERGENCY BREAK IT LEAKS. THERE IS NO WARNING THAT THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN. ALSO, THE CARS BEHIND YOU DO NOT KNOW WHY YOU ARE SLOWING DOWN. THEN WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, THE LIGHTS GO OFF AND THE CAR DRIVES FINE. AFTER THREE TRIPS TO THE GMC DEALER, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE PROBLEM. GMC HAS ISSUED SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES WARRANTY ON THE 2007 & THE 2009 BUT NOT THE 2008. I DO NOT FEEL THAT THE WARRANTY IS SUFFICIENT. I HAVE HAD SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHTS COME ON ALL THE TIME ALONG WITH SERVICE STABLETRACK AND AND I THINK SOMETHING WITH THE FUEL WHEN I GET GAS IT MAKES WEIRD SOUNDS AND WON'T START WITHOUT PUMPING THE GAS TO GET IT STARTED.
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY 2008 GMC ACADIA IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER WITH CODES PO752 AND PO700 WHICH ARE THE SHIFT SOLENOID AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM. I WAS STUCK IN FIRST GEAR DRIVING THE TRUCK. THE NHTSA REFERENCE #10052215 AND TSB REFERENCE #SB-13120 EXPLAINS THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED WITH MY TRUCK. GMC AND THE DEALER ARE SAYING THAT I HAVE TO PAY APPROX. $2500.00 WHICH IS A 65% TO 35% SPLIT WITH THE DEALERSHIP ( MINE BEING THE 65%). I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN CLEARLY IDENTIFIED BY THE NHTSA. BROUGHT IT BACK AND THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS THE PPS SENSOR FOR THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS, BUT NOT ON MY ACADIA. THEY WANT $600 PLUS LABOR TO REPLACE. TOTALING AROUND $950. HAD ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE POWER LIFT GATE, STATING THAT THE STRUTS COULD POSSIBLY FAIL PREMATURELY, CAUSING THE POWER LIFT GATE TO DROP. AS I WAS LOADING THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, THE LIFT GATE SUDDENLY DROPPED ON MY HEAD. I BROUGHT IT TO KOLAR IN DULUTH MN AND TOLD THEM THAT THE STRUTS FROM THE RECALL WERE SHOT AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. I PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AFTER A DAY OF THEM TELLING ME THAT THE RECALL HAD BEEN SUCCESSFUL. A WEEK AFTER I TOOK THE CAR HOME, THE LIFT GATE FELL ON MY WIFE. I COME TO FIND OUT THAT KOLAR NEVER REPLACED THE STRUTS, EVEN AFTER ME TALKING TO THE MECHANIC AND HIM ASSURING ME THAT THEY WOULD BE CHANGED OUT. IT IS NOW SITTING AT THE DEALER WAITING FOR BACK ORDERED STRUTS TO COME IN TO BE INSTALLED.

THE DRIVER'S HEAD HIT THE SIDE WINDOW AND AS A RESULT HE SUSTAINED A HEAD INJURY AND AN EYE INJURY RESULTING IN OPTIC NERVE DAMAGE AND COMPLETE LOSS OF VISION IN THE EYE. TEMPORARY AND INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING DURING MANEUVERING AND TURNING CAUSES SAFETY AND CONTROL ISSUES. DURING THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING EVENT THE STEERING WHEEL REQUIRES A DRIVER TO APPLY MORE THAN NORMAL AMOUNTS OF TORQUE TO GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO ROTATE. ON NOVEMBER 18 THE CAR BEGAN LEAKING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG AREA AND WATER POURED FROM THE ROOF ONTO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT WHEN I MADE A FULL STOP. CURRENTLY AWAITING A RETURN CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER OF GMC DEALER. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE PROBLEM. I WAS DRIVING IN THE RAIN FROM ONE COLLEGE CAMPUS LOCATION TO ANOTHER, IN OTHER WORDS MANY STOP AND GO AND SIDE STREETS AT 30 MPH OR LESS. THE CAR MADE SQUEALING NOISES AS WELL WHICH HAPPENED LAST TIME TOO (SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR).
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE) AND STATED THAT THE PART NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED KNEE AND HEAD INJURIES AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER IN THE OTHER VEHICLE SUSTAINED UNKNOWN INJURIES THAT ALSO NEEDED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
SUNROOF CONTINUES TO LEAK WATER. MOISTURE MILDEW GROWTH IN INTERIOR. CAR GETS SATURATED EVERY TIME. DRIVER SIDE FLOOR BOARDS FULL OF WATER. ELECTRICAL WARNING LIGHTS CONTINUE TO SOUND AND FLASH...TODAY IT'S THE BRAKE WARNING. WATER IS CORRODING MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM...IT'S NOT SAFE! GMC KEEP IGNORING THIS PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE IS AN EPIDEMIC OF COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE WEB! THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL YEARS AGO! THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE!
