TRANSMISSION STARTED GETTING SLUGGISH AROUND 88, 000 MILES. VEHICLE WOULDN'T CRANK DUE TO ELECTRICAL STABILIZER, NOW MY SUNROOF IS LEAKING. DEALERSHIP IS GOING TO CHARGE ME $275 DOLLAR TO UNBLOCK THE SUNROOF DRAINS WHAT A RIP OFF WHEN THIS IS THE THREE TIME I HAVE HAD THE DRAINS CLEANED AND THE SUNROOF STILL LEAK. THIS HAS TO BE A GMC PROBLEM THAT THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE. THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL UNDER THE GMC WARRANTY SO THANK GOD I DON'T HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THAT. THE ELECTRICAL MODULES SEEM TO BE OKAY FOR NOW BUT AT ANY GIVING TIME THE VEHICLE MAY STOP WORKING. GMC SHOULD OWN UP TO THESE PROBLEMS AND LOOK OUT FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS.
DRIVING CAR ON FREEWAY AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE, NO PREVIOUS ISSUES THAT WOULD CAUSE THE FIRE. FRONT OF CAR AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE....UPDATED 01/25/16 *BF
IN 2010 I NOTICED AN OIL LEAK FROM THE FRONT OF ENGINE. AFTER SEEING THE NOTICE ON THE INTERNET ABOUT OIL LEAKS CAN CAUSE ENGINE FIRES I BECAME CONCERNED. PLEASE ADVISE! THANKS!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE PARKED, THE VEHICLE'S REAR LIFTGATE WAS UP. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED SOMETHING IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, THE LIFTGATE COLLAPSED AND STRUCK HER. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE LIFTGATE WAS ABLE TO BE OPENED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GAS STRUTS THAT HOLD UP THE LIFTGATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. OIL CHANGES AT DEALER PERFORMED EVERY 3K MILES. AT 88K MILES, SHORTLY AFTER DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. FULL DIAGNOSTICS PERFORMED BY LOCAL DEALER STATED TIMING CHAIN BUFFERS WERE BEGINNING TO FAIL. EST COST $3500. ADVISED THAT SINCE THE LIGHT COMES ON/OFF INTERMITTENTLY, OKAY TO WAIT TO SEE IF PROBLEM WORSENS, WHICH MAY BE MANY YEARS, IF EVER. AT 92K MILES, WHILE ON HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION WOULDN'T SHIFT GEARS, RPM'S CLIMBED, PULLED OVER VEHICLE WHERE IT STALLED AND WOULDN'T RESTART. VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER, WHERE TESTED AND DETERMINED THAT ENGINE NEEDS REPLACEMENT DUE TO LOUD METALIC ENGINE NOISE AND METAL SHAVINGS IN OIL. ESTIMATED REPAIRS FROM TWO GMC DEALERS OF $6600 TO $7600 FOR RE-MANUFACTURED ENGINE. LOCAL DEALERS HAVE STATED THAT TIMING CHAIN BUFFERS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2008 GMC ACADIA AND VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED, BUT IS NOT DUE TO THE COST OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT. CONTACTED GMC (BELVA - SENIOR CASE ANALYST) TO DESCRIBE CASE AND THEY RESPONDED THAT THEY WILL NOT ASSIST IN THE REPAIRS BECAUSE: 1) VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED USED - STATING THAT ALL SUCH PURCHASES ARE 'AS-IS' FROM DEALER AND ITS UP TO THE CONSUMER TO DO DUE-DILEGENCE BEFORE PURCHASING, 2) VEHICLE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED BY DATE SHORTLY BEFORE PURCHASE, AND 3) POWER TRAIN WARRANTY IS NOW 3 YEARS PAST THE DATE, REGARDLESS OF WHEN ISSUE FIRST APPEARED. GMC SENIOR ADVISOR ALSO STATED THE SHE RECENTLY PURCHASED A USED GM PRODUCT, AND THE ENGINE FAILED SHORTLY AFTERWARD AT 100K MILES, AND GM WILL NOT ASSIST HER EITHER, AS THAT IS ALSO OUT OF THE DATE RANGE OF THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. ENGINE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE K-GM (SAINT CATHARINES, ONTARIO) PLANT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WATER FILLED UP IN THE FUSE BOX FROM A FAULTY DRAINAGE FOR THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID, CAUSING THE VEHICLE NOT TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.
WHEN IT'S RAINING , I HAVE HUGE LEAKING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE , WHICH DAMAGES MY CARPET AND CAUSING MOLD GROWTH.NOW IT'S SMELL HORRIBLE AND I HAVE BIG CONCERN ABOUT MY BABIES HEALTH , IT'S UNSAFE TO BE IN THIS CAR FOR LONG TIME.
RE: DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE FROM A LOYAL CUSTOMER. BEGINNING IN 2014, AFTER NARROWLY AVOIDING SERIOUS FROM THE COLLAPSE OF THE REAR LIFT GATE WHILE LOADING THE VEHICLE, SUFFERING MINOR SCRAPS AND BRUISING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST GMC SERVICE CENTER AND RECEIVED A QUOTE FOR REPLACEMENT STRUTS. I LATER HAD THEM REPLACED IN 2015 AT MY OWN EXPENSE, ONLY MORE RECENTLY BECOMING AWARE THAT IT WAS DUE TO A PART FAILURE AND SUBJECT TO RECALL AND REPLACEMENT. OF WHICH I WILL FOLLOW UP WITH A REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST. FOLLOWING THAT INCIDENT MY STEERING COLUMN TIGHTENED DURING TURNS FORCING ME TO EXERT EXTREME PRESSURE IN SLOW SPEED TURNS, CREATING A HAZARD TO BOTH MYSELF AND OTHERS. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE PERFORMING OF STATED REMEDIES PRESCRIBED BY THE GMC SERVICE MECHANIC, THE PROBLEM STILL PERSIST AND MORE RECENTLY IT BEING SUGGESTED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO SUSPENSION STRUTS AND POSSIBLY TRANSMISSION ISSUES SINCE THE 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT WAS ON WITH FOR CODES RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WERE PRESENT. THROUGH MY OWN RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE RELATED TO EITHER RECALLED ITEMS OR ITEMS LISTED IN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS, YET NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT MY COST WOULD BE $1900 FOR REPAIRS AND AN ADDITIONAL $1500 TO REPLACE A FAULTY NAVIGATION/ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM, DUE TO A SUCK DISC. COLLECTIVELY, I FIND THESE EVENTS, THE MECHANICAL FAILURES AND THE FACT THAT THE BURDEN FOR THESE FAILURES AND EVENTS ARE BEING PLACED ON THE CUSTOMER AS BEING ABSURD AND EGREGIOUS. I CHOOSE TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE TO SUPPORT AMERICAN COMPANIES SUCH AS YOURS AND DRIVE AMERICAN MADE VEHICLES OUT OF LOYALTY TO YOU, BUT IF THIS IS THE REWARD I RECEIVE FROM MY LOYALTY I THINK IT IS ABOUT TIME I BEGIN RETHINKING THINGS.
POWER LIFTGATE DOES NOT WORK. LIFTGATE WILL NOT OPEN ON ITS OWN, AND WHEN I OPEN IT, IT SLAMS DOWN. THIS COULD CAUSE INJURY TO ME OR MY CHILDREN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL WAS LEAKING FROM THE TIMING CHAIN COVER. THE TIMING CHAIN COVER NEEDED TO BE RESEALED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000. UPDATED 04/08/16*LJ
WATER ENTERS THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AS THE SUNROOF DRAINS CONTINUE TO CLOG UP AND WATER FALLS ON DRIVER AND DRIVER SIDE ELECTRICAL FUSES.
RAIN LEAK INTO CAR, WATER POURING INTO FRAME AND TRAPPED IN FRAME OF CAR, ROOF OF CAR. WATER LEAKING OUT OF AIRBAG LOCATIONS. WHEN WE DRIVE, WE CAN HEAR WATER MOVING AROUND IN FRAME, SEE WATER LEAKING OUT OF AIRBAG AREAS IN FRAME OF CAR. WATER TRAPPED INSIDE FRAME OF CAR, ROTTING INSIDE OF CAR, MOLD, MILDEW POTENTIAL, FIRE HAZARD. GMC SAYS THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRS, CAR NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HOW CAN I SAFELY DRIVE A VEHICLE IN WHICH BOTH THE AIRBAGS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS COMPROMISED??
SERVICE AIRBAG APPEARS IN MESSAGE CENTER HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR. WHEN FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SITS IN SEAT AND VEHICLE IS MOVING THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL GO/OFF AND THE SERVICE AIRBAG APPEARS. SENSOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY, SHOULD BE RECALLED. HAS BEEN OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY.
PASSENGER AIRBAG INDICATOR IS ALWAYS ON "OFF" NO MATTER WHO SITS FRONT PASSENGER SEAT - LARGE HEAVY MAN OR LIGHTWEIGHT ADULT.
BOUGHT VEHICLE WITH ONLY 23K MILES ON IT, TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF DRIVING IT, TAKEN TO A DEALER, SAID NOTHING WRONG, ANOTHER YEAR LATER GOT WORSE, TOOK IT IN TO A DIFFERENT DEALER, NOTHING WRONG, 6 MONTHS LATER TOOK IT IN BEFORE GOING ON VACATION, NOTHING WRONG, BUT HAD PROBLEMS WHILE ON VACATION, 6 MONTHS LATER, 1,500 MILES AWAY FROM HOME ON VACATION, DRIVING DOWN A 75 MILE AN HOUR SPEED LIMIT DIVIDED HIGHWAY, TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING, NO DASH WARNING, TOOK IN TO A TRANSMISSION DEALER (SINCE WE COULDN'T GET INTO A DEALER) AND SAID WE WOULDN'T MAKE IT HOME THE WAY IT WAS. 5 GRAND LATER AND A MESS OF A VACATION LATER WE WERE ON OUR WAY HOME. LESS THAN 3 MONTHS LATER, TIGHTEN GAS CAP LIGHT ON DASH, CHECK TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. FOUND OUT ONLINE THAT THIS MODEL AND MAKE AND YEAR HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION, DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THERE WAS NO RECALL AND HOW GM GOT AWAY WITH IT. OH, AND WE WERE UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY IN THE BEGINNING WHERE THEY SAID NOTHING WRONG, AND AS SOON AS WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, BOOM! TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE FIXED! TRANSMISSION DEALER SAID THE DAMAGE WAS FROM A CHEAP 15.00 PART THAT CAUSED US TO HAVE TO SPEND 5 GRAND WHILE ON VACATION. WE HAVE ALL SHOP PAPERWORK SHOWING THE PAPER TRAIL WHAT WE TRIED TO GET FIXED.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BURNT UP INSIDE. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID THIS WAS A VERY COMMON ISSUES WITH VEHICLES OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL OF OURS. IF THERE IS SO MANY OF THESE GOING BAD SHOULDNT THIS BE FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER???
THE VEHICLE DESCRIBED IN THIS COMPLAINT HAS A LEAK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SUN ROOF. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER TO HAVE PROBLEM RESOLVED. TECH INDICATED THAT WATER WAS DRAINING SLOWLY. TECH INDICATED THAT DRAINS WERE BLOWN OUT AND WATER WAS DRAINING OUT IN A FASTER RATE. AS OF TODAY'S RAIN STORM, SUN ROOF CONTINUES TO LEAK . LEAK OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE IS SITTING STILL AND DURING MOVEMENT.
DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, GOT ON THE HIGHWAY AND WAS GOING ABOUT 70MPH AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE MESSAGE DISPLAYED TO SERVICE STABILIZER TRAK. THEN THE MESSAGE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL. N THE CAR STARTED ROCKING SIDE TO SIDE. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS SUV SINCE I BOUGHT IT. IT IS THE MOST SCARIEST CAR TO DRIVE. I WOULD LOVE TO TRADE IT IN, BUT CAN'T BECAUSE OF THE NEGATIVE EQUITY.
AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON AND PASSENGER SENSOR LIGHT FOR AIRBAQ NOT WORKING. HAD THE REPAIRS DONE FOR $795.00

WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE NEEDLE FLUCTUATED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION FUSE WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
AT 96,000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT COMPLETELY. I HAD TO REPLACE IT, AND IT COST ME OVER $2500K THIS IS INSANE.....AND THEY ARE KNOWN FOR THE 2008 TRANSMISSION FAILURES. THE DEALER REFUSED TO HELP IN ANY WAY....
AIR BAG LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON SAYING "SERVICE AIRBAG", TOOK TO MY MECHANIC AND HE READ THE CODES WHICH CAME BACK AS 20 & 81 FOR THE MAIN PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. HE SAID IT MEANS IT'S NOT GETTING A READING AND POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS WERE EITHER THE SENSOR OR MODULE FOR THE AIRBAG NEEDING REPLACEMENT. HE ADVISED ME IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE AIRBAG IS ESSENTIALLY NOT WORKING AND IF AN ACCIDENT WERE TO OCCUR THAT IT WOULD PROBABLY NOT DEPLOY. HE ALSO STATED ONLY A CERTIFIED DEALERSHIP COULD FIX IT AND THEY WANT $150 JUST TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH I'VE ALREADY HAD IT DIAGNOSED. I FEEL ANYTHING HAVING TO DO WITH AIRBAGS ON A VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE MANUFACTURER WHETHER OR NOT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY, ESPECIALLY SINCE NO ONE WILL REPAIR THEM BESIDES A DEALERSHIP AND THAT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. PEOPLE CAN DIE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING RACK WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE POWER STEERING PUMP BEING FRACTURED AND DAMAGING THE RACK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,922.
MY WIFE FELL ASLEEP RAN OFF THE ROAD STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AND A LARGE DIRT EMBANKMENT. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY NOR DID THE BELT TENSIONERS,SHE HIT THE STEERING COLUMN SO HARD SHE IT BROKE THE COLUMN AND BROKE HER STERNUM. OUR GRANDDAUGHTER WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG NOR THE TENNSIONERS DEPLOYED RESULTING HER BACK BEING BROKEN IN TWO PLACES AND ALSO HER FOOT WAS BROKEN. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY SENT A MAN TO DOWNLOAD THE COMPUTER INFORMATION THEY SENT ME A COPY OF THE INFO AND LATER CONTACTED ME SAYING THE INFO SHOWED EVERYTHING WAS WORKING PROPERLY. PRYOR TO THE ACCIDENT I HAD THE AUTO IN FOR THE RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO HAD IT IN FOR ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE HEADLIGHTS AND THEY HAD TO REMOVE A LARGE PART OF THE FRONT TO DO THE REPAIR AND DONE A POOR JOB OF PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER I RETURNED IT AND THEY FINALLY GOT IT RIGHT,IN THE MEAN TIME THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEY REPAIRED THAT.LATER AFTER THE ACCIDENT I WENT BACK TO THE DEALER AND QUESTIONED THE BODY SHOP MANAGER ABOUT PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER PROPERLY AND THEN TOLD HIM ABOUT THE ACCIDENT THEN HE HAD NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. THE AUTO WAS A TOTAL LOSS AFTER A LENGTH OF TIME WIFE AND GRANDDAUGHTER GOT OUT OF HOSPITAL. THIS CAR WAS RECALLED FOR THIS VERY REASON. MY INSURANCE COMPANY PAID MY GRANDDAUGHTER $95,000 FOR HER INJURIES AND COMMENTED THAT THEY WOULD PROBABLY SUE GM TO GET THAT BACK.
CAR WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO JUMP OFF. WHEN I DID THIS I WENT TO TURN OFF AND HAD THE KEY OUT AND THE CAR KEPT RUNNING FOR AROUND A MINUTE BEFORE FINALLY STALLING. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE SAME RESULT. I THEN TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. AFTER A DAY THEY CALLED AND INFORMED ME THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS ALLOWING WATER IN AT THE PASSENGER SIDE AND FUSE PANEL UNDER GLOVE BOX WAS FULL OF WATER AND CORRODED. THEY ADVISED A NEW WINDSHIELD AS MINE HAD A SMALL STAR CRACK IN IT AND NEEDED TO BE RESEALED. THAT ALONG WITH RECOMMENDING A NEW FUSE PANEL. THEY CHECKED ALL DRAIN LINES FOR SUNROOF AND SAID THEY WERE FINE. PAID THE BILL FOR THIS AT $799.58 WITH ASSURANCE THAT WATER ISSUE WAS FIXED. WELL ONE WEEK LATER AND THE FIRST RAIN SINCE AFTER SITTING IN LIGHT RAIN FOR 2 HOURS AND DRIVING 20 MINUTES I NOTICED WATER DRIPPING INTO BOTH FLOORBOARDS FROM A POST. I WILL BE TAKING BACK TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW WITH THEM STILL NOT AKNOWLEDGING ANYTHING ABOUT WATER PROBLEMS.

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE LIFTGATE OPENED, THE LIFTGATE FELL CLOSED INDEPENDENTLY WITH FORCE AND STRUCK THE CONTACT ON THE HEAD. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON ONE OTHER OCCASION AND STRUCK ANOTHER PASSENGER ON THE HEAD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V415000 (STRUCTURE), HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE, MY POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT. I GOT TO MY DESTINATION AND FLUID WAS JUST LEAKING EVERYWHERE. I HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP AFTER I RESEARCHED MY PROBLEM. I WAS AWARE THERE WAS A SPECIAL NOTICE OUT ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND THE POWER STEERING ISSUES. GM WAS INITIALLY ONLY WILLING TO FIX THE POWER STEERING PUMP, NOT THE POWER STEERING COOLING LINE AND POWER STEERING GEAR. AFTER COMPLAINING AND QUESTIONING, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO GET THE COST DOWN, BUT GM WOULD NOT COVER THE COST ENTIRELY TO MAKE MY VEHICLE DRIVABLE AGAIN. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THEY HAVE ADMITTED TO IT BEING A PROBLEM, YET THEY AREN'T WILLING TO FOOT THE BILL TO FIX IT BACK TO THE CONDITION IT WAS PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE. WHILE THEY OFFERED ME A MUCH BETTER PRICE TO FIX IT, THEY SHOULD FIX IT AT NO COST TO ME. THE WORDING IN THE SPECIAL STATEMENT WAS "STEERING PUMP WEAR" AND "SUDDEN LOSS OF HYDROLIC PRESSURE." BOTH OF WHICH WOULD LEAD ME TO BELIEVE THE WORD LEAK SHOULD BE COVERED AS WELL. WEAR TO ME MEAN THINGS BEING LESS THAN PERFECT AND SUDDEN LOSS OF PRESSURE MEANS LEAK. INEXCUSABLE FOR GM TO WEASEL OUT OF FIXING THIS ISSUE COMPLETELY.
MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA AND THE POWER TRAIN STARTED TO MAKE A WHINING NOISE, WHEN THE GEARBOX SHIFTED THE NOISE STOPPED. A MINUTE LATER HE STOPPED AND THEN WHEN HE TRIED TO PROCEED FORWARD THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY GEAR AND THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER DRIVE. WE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE IN OUR VEHICLE, MOSTLY KIDS, AND HAD TO RECRUIT BYSTANDERS TO HELP US PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFTEY ISSUE! MY FAMILY HAD TO STAND ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHILE MY HUSBAND AND SOME GRACIOUS STRANGERS HAD TO PUSH THE VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER DRIVABLE. AND THEY WE HAD TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO COME GET US. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WITH THE SAME SCENARIO AND REALLY THINK THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. AND THIS WORST PART TO THIS WHOLE SITUATION IS THAT WE ARE MILITARY AND ARE CURRENTLY STATIONED OVERSEAS AND WILL COST US OVER $5000 JUST TO HAVE THE PART SHIPPED HERE.

WHILE DRIVING THE STABILITRAK OFF LIGHT, SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BOTH PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED OR THE WHOLE BRAKE SYSTEM COULD/WOULD FAIL. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WITH THE GMC ACADIA AND COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT/FATALITY. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF AN ISSUE DUE TO AN APPARENT DEFECT IN CONSTRUCTION WHERE THE BRAKE FLUID DOES NOT LEAK EXTERNALLY, BUT RATHER INTERNALLY TO ANOTHER COMPONENT. THIS SERIOUS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BY GMC.

MY 2008 ACADIA IS NOW ON IT'S 4TH THERMOSTAT. I'M ABOUT TO SEND IT IN TO HAVE IT REPLACED. MY SUV KEEPS OVERHEATING. SO FAR I HAVE REPLACED THE RADIATOR, THERMOSTAT, AND STABILITY TRACK. IS THERE ANY ONE ELSE WHO HAS THIS PROBLEM?
AS I WAS DRIVING ONTO THE FREEWAY AND TRYING TO MERGE MY VEHICLE HAD SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR WHILE IT WAS IN DRIVE. I HAD NO ACCELERATION AND I WAS ON AN INCLINE. ONCE MY VEHICLE SLOWED TO 20MPH IT HAD RE ENGAGED AND I WAS ABLE TO MERGE OFF OF THE FREEWAY. THIS CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD FOR MY GIRLFRIEND AND I AND HER 3 YOUNG CHILDREN BECAUSE THE SPEED LIMIT ON THE FREEWAY WAS 65 MPH WITH VERY LIMITED SPACE TO MERGE BECAUSE OTHER DRIVERS ARE TRYING TO MERGE ONTO AN EXIT RAMP. THIS CREATED A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ONLY FOR OUR FAMILY BUT FOR OTHERS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO THE FREEWAY BEHIND US AT A VERY LOW SPEED AND THOSE TRYING TO EXIT AT THE SAME TIME. LUCKILY FOR US NOBODY WAS HURT. THE VEHICLE IS NOW IN THE SHOP AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT IS THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE. AFTER READING ON MULTIPLE FORUMS ABOUT THIS VEHICLE AND THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES I BELIEVE THAT GMC NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE MALFUNCTIONS IN THIS TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD TO THOSE ON THE ROAD.

INCLUDING THE ABS SIGN WAS FLASHING A SCARY AND CAUTIONARY YELLOW SYMBOL.
