TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE VEHICLE OF THE CONTACT'S SISTER WAS REAR ENDED BY A DRUNK DRIVER AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE DRIVER SEAT WAS FRACTURED AND THE SEAT DETACHED FROM ITS SPRINGS AND HINGES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED LOWER BACK AND FACE INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING COMPANY AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAD POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MY VEHICLE BEGAN GIVING A STABILITRAK NOTIFICATION. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO IDENTIFY THE ISSUE I WAS TOLD BY THE GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BOOSTER AND WOULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE BRAKES TO FAIL. UPON FURTHER RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE DEALT WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A FACTORY ISSUE THAT IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO CAUSE INJURY OR POSSIBLY FATALITY.
I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IT PUTTERED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION AS I WAS TURNING WHICH IS A BUSY STREET. IT SLOWED DOWN DRASTICALLY ON ITS OWN. WHICH CAUSED MY CHILDREN TO SWING FORWARD AND BACK IN THERE SEAT. MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR IT WAS VERY SCARY. THIS IS NOT SAFE!!! ACCORDING TO GMC SERVICE THE TIMING CHAIN DID NOT BREAK,WAS STRETCHED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE REMOTE START WOULD NOT WORK ALONG WITH CODES BEING SET. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE REAL REASON FOR SUCH PREMATURE FAILURE AND WHAT IF ANY ACTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN TO REMEDY THIS. THERE HAS TO BE MORE THAN JUST PUTTING A NEW CHAIN ON AND CROSSING YOUR FINGERS.REALLY DO NOT BUY INTO THE THEORY OF DIRTY OIL CAUSING IT,MAYBE LACK OF OIL RESULTING FROM POOR DESIGN. I GET MY OIL CHAIN FAITHFULLY AND MAINTENANCE DONE. THIS IS NOT SAFE AT ALL. I HAVE A SICK CHILD THAT NEEDS TO GET TO DR APPTS THIS NEEDS TO BE FIXED. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR 2007 AND 2009 MODELS WHICH GMC FIXED. MY 2008 SHOULD BE FIXED IN THE RECALL ALSO. *TR
HAVE TO REPLACE EVAPORATOR CORE BECAUSE OF LEAKS. SEEING LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON MESSAGE BOARDS. *TR
2008 GMC ACADIA WITH SLIGHTLY UNDER 53,000 MILES. WAS DRIVING ACROSS TOWN AND THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SHIFT UNEXPECTEDLY AS IF SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR AND THE ENGINE GOING TO HIGH REVOLUTIONS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE STOPPED FOR AWHILE, RESTARTED, BEGAN HEADING TOWARDS DEALERSHIP. ACCELERATION COMPLETELY FAILED AND VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP WITH INABILITY TO GO FORWARD OR IN REVERSE. VEHICLE TOWED TO GM DEALERSHIP. BEEN INFORMED THAT THE CLUTCH BROKE AND SPREAD METAL BITS ACROSS THE TRANSMISSION. TRANSMISSION MUST BE REPLACED EVEN THOUGH VEHICLE ONLY HAS 53,000 MILES ON IT. COMPLAINT ALSO FILED WITH GM CUSTOMER CARE REQUESTING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WITH THE PROHIBITIVE COST OF PREMATURE REPAIR. *TR
WIPER LINKAGE FAILURE AT HIGHWAY SPEED DURING RAIN. ORIGINAL RECALL # 08091 WORK PERFORMED IN 2008 BY DEALER, BUT LINKAGE FAILED AGAIN 2015. INDEPENDENT SHOP PERFORMED REPAIR - BUT GM REFUSES TO REIMBURSE FOR KNOWN WINDSHIELD LINKAGE ISSUE, EVEN THOUGH RECALL COVERS THIS KNOWN DEFECT. *TR
THERE ARE MANY RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. DID DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THEY FIX THEM AND YET THEY'RE STILL NOT RESOLVED. THESE ISSUES INCLUDE THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THE AIRBAG SYSTEM, THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM, ISSUES WITH WATER LEAKING THROUGH THE SUNROOF, L]]AS WELL AS WATER LEAKING INTO THE INTERIOR LIGHTS. THERE ARE ALSO ISSUES WITH LIFTGATE WORKING CORRECTLY. ALL OF THESE ARE ISSUES WITH MY ACADIA. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO TO HANDLE THIS PROPERLY. THIS CAR HAS TURNED INTO A DEATH TRAP. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR YEARS TO GET THESE THINGS RESOLVED. I HAVE GOT TO RUN AROUND THE ENTIRE TIME.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT OUT OF 2ND GEAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ONCE FOR THIS ISSUE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE VALVE BODY THE FIRST TIME AND IT WAS REPLACED OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
I BACKED INTO A PARKING SPOT AND PUT IT IN PARK. THE CAR SEEMED LIKE IT LOST A LITTLE BIT OF POWER AND WHEN I TURNED THE KEY OFF THE ENGINE TURNED OVER AGAIN AND THE CAR WAS RUNNING EVEN THOUGH THE KEY WAS IN THE OFF POSITION. WHEN I TURNED IT OVER THE CAR LOST POWER AND WOULDN'T START AND MY KEY WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. AFTER 15 MINUTES OR SO IT STARTED UP AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEM. LATER WHEN I DROVE IT IT DID IT AGAIN AND NOW IT STARTS WHEN I STICK THE KEY IN THE IGNITION WITHOUT TURNING IT OVER AND MY CAR STALLS OUT AND LOSES POWER AND I LOSE POWER STEERING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLOW TO CHANGE GEARS AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND TEST DRIVEN, BUT THE DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE FOR LONGER THAN A WEEK. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HVAC BLOWER MOTOR SUBMERGED IN WATER. CAUSING MOTOR TO FAIL. NO DEFROST. EFFECTING FIELD OF VISION. NO SUNROOF ON THIS MODEL ACADIA. SEEMS TO BE FROM CONDENSATION. ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT ELECTRICAL FAILURE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE SEAT BELTS FOR THE MIDDLE ROW BUCKET SEATS WERE PULLED AND LATCHED, THE SEAT BELT FAILED TO SECURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE LIFTGATE BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER AND WAS NO LONGER OPERABLE. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AGAIN WHERE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED AGAIN. THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, THE ENGINE OIL COAGULATED AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
IT IS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE POWER STEERING IT'S MAKING ALOUD NOISE AND HARD TO TURN. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ARE ON, AND STABILITY LIGHTS ON, DEALER SAYS PROBLEM IS DUE TO TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. THERE IS TECHNICAL BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS VEHICLE LOCATED HERE: HTTP://WWW-ODI.NHTSA.DOT.GOV/ACMS/CS/JAXRS/DOWNLOAD/DOC/UCM422873/CSC-10043857-8394.PDF GMC IS NOT OFFERING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT A LARGE FEE, SAYING OUR VIN DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALL. YET THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN DESCRIBING OUR EXACT PROBLEM. CAN YOU LET US KNOW IF OUR VEHICLE IS COVERED BY THIS TECHNICAL BULLETIN AND IF THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS FOR OUR VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2008 GMC ACADIA WOULD NOT START AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GMC DEALERSHIP. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE SUNROOF WAS LEAKING INTO THE HEADLINER AND GOING STRAIGHT TO THE FUSE BLOCK. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUSE BLOCK, BATTERY AS WELL AS SEAL THE LEAK AROUND THE SUNROOF AND COWL. GMC REFUSED TO PAY ANYTHING TOWARDS THIS REPAIR AND WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. I SPENT $1,200 JUST TO FIX THIS DUE TO GMC'S POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP. MILEAGE OF CAR IS 104,00. *TR
AFTER A COUPLE ATTEMPTS TO ADDRESS SERVICE ENGINE ISSUES WITH LOCAL MECHANIC, THE CAR CONTINUED TO DISPLAY CODES AND THEN WOULD NOT CONSISTENTLY SHIFT INTO 2 OR 3RD GEAR. WE TOOK THE CAR TO A GMC DEALER AND THEY FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED REPLACED (CODE P0752) AS DID THE SHIFT SOLENOID. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ALSO RELATED TO STRETCHED TIMING CHAINS WHICH WERE REPLACED SINCE FIRST ISSUE REQUIRED THE ENGINE BE REMOVED FOR REPAIRS TO BE MADE. I NOTICED MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND SAW RECALLS FOR 2007 ACADIA'S BUT NOT 2008, IN MY OPINION 2008 SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED. TOTAL BILL $2,960 WITH TWO 10% DISCOUNTS FROM DEALER SINCE THEY FELT BAD FOR ME.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS AND NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP SUPPOSEDLY HAD TOOK IT THROUGH A HUNDRED POINT INSPECTION, IMMEDIATELY, THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, IT STARTED LOSING ANTI-FREEZE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON , AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE SERVICE DEPT AT THIS TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, I AM STILL HAVING ISSUES, THEY FIXED THE SMALL THINGS LIKE THE WATER PUMP, THE REAR WIPER BLADE, ELECTRICAL BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT STILL COMES ON AND I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND IT IS THE TRANSMISSION, IT IS GOING OUT, AND THE AIR BAG (SERVICE AIR BAG SOON) IS STILL ON, BUT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY A RECALL IN 2011, EITHER IT WAS A BAD PART, OR IT WAS NOT SERVICED AT ALL. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 40 YEARS AND I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A LOYAL GM OWNER, ESPECIALLY THE BUICK LASABRE WHICH I DROVE FOR 15 YEARS, BUT I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED IT AT, AND THEY ARE RATED BY THE BBB AS A. I ALSO DO NOT LIKE THE FACT THAT ON GM COMMERCIALS IT STATES NON GM OWNERS,LIKE COME ON IN, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF NON GM OWNERS BUT NOT THE LOYAL ONES. I THINK IT VERY IMPORTANT TO STICK WITH AMERICAN BRANDS AND LOVE GM, JUST VERY DISSATISFIED WITH THIS ONE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
MY BOYFRIEND WAS DRIVING OUR VEHICLE I WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WITH THE SEATBELT ON. I TURNED AROUND TO HELP MY DAUGHTER AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT TURNED OFF. CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT 2/13/15 AND THEY TOLD ME SINCE THEY ALREADY DID FIXES ON IT THEY WILL NOT BE FIXING THIS. CONTACTED GMC AND THEY OFF ASSISTANCE TO FIX THE SENSOR. TOTAL COST TO GET FIXED 810 DOLLARS. PRETTY PISSED OFF. HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE VEHICLE A MONTH YET. *TR
AFTER STARTING MY CAR (AND SITTING STILL), I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE, MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND MY DASHBOARD LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. SERVICE ENGINE SOON, SERVICE STABILITRAK, REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED NOW! HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, OR IF MY CHILDREN HAD BEEN IN THE CAR WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENED, I SHUDDER TO THINK WHAT COULD'VE HAPPENED. PLEASE, PLEASE PUT OUT A RECALL TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. AGAIN, I FEEL THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ON GM FORUMS/BLOGS. *JS
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. HAD TO FIGHT WITH DEALER ABOUT THE FACT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. I UNDERSTAND I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. BUT HOW MANY PEOPLE EXPECT THEIR TRANS TO GO OUT IN THE FIRST 100K? IF YOU OWN AN ACADIA, EXPECT TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION BETWEEN 75-85K. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF HORROR STORIES ON TRANSMISSIONS IN THE ACADIA, TRAVERSE, ENCLAVE, AND OUTLOOK ALONE ON THE WEB. GM KNOWS ABOUT IT BUT NEVER ISSUED A RECALL FOR A SUB STANDARD TRANSMISSION WITH FAULTY WAVE PLATES. BUT WHEN IT GOES OUT, YOU GET TO PAY FOR THE "NEW AND IMPROVED" VERSION. DEALERS ARE WELL VERSED IN THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION TO THE TRANS, MY SWAY BARS HAD TO BE REPLACED BEFORE 50K AND I HAD TO PAY FOR IT. THE HEADLINER WAS DAMAGED FROM CLOGGED SUNROOF DRAIN TUBES WHICH NEW DESIGN WAS INSTALLED. NEW STYLE WATER PUMP. ALL 3 OF THESE ITEMS WERE NEWER STYLE REPLACEMENTS BECAUSE GM HAD TO REDESIGN THEM. THAT TELLS YOU THEY HAD KNOWN ISSUES WITH THEM AND INSTEAD OF STANDING BEHIND THEIR PROBLEMS, THEY HIDE BEHIND A BLACK AND WHITE WARRANTY POLICY. AT THE END OF THE DAY, A ONE OFF PROBLEM SHOULD BE BLACK AND WHITE. BUT WHEN YOU KNOW THERE IS A MAJOR FAILURE HISTORY THAT CAUSES YOU TO REDESIGN COMPONENTS, YOU SHOULD GOODWILL THE CUSTOMER AND PROACTIVELY PERFORM RECALLS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD PRESSED THE GAS TO GO UP A HILL AND CAR WOULD JUST REV UP. ACTING AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL AND IT WAS IN DRIVE. LOST ALL GEARS. SHUT IT OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND I HAD LOW GEAR. CONTINUED TO GO BACK UP THE HILL TO GET TO MY MECHANIC AND WHEN I GOT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL THE CAR LOST ALL GEARS AGAIN AND WOULD JUST REV UP. TURNED IT OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT LET ME MAKE IT A LITTLE FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD AND DID IT AGAIN. I THEN HAD IT TOWED. WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THIS CAR UNTIL THIS HAPPENED. THERE WAS NO WARNING THAT MY CARS TRANSMISSION WAS GOING TO GO. THE CAR NEVER ACTED UP UNTIL THE MOMENT THIS HAPPENED. I HAVE SINCE LOOKED ONLINE AND SEEN THAT THE TRANSMISSION GOING AROUND THIS MILEAGE IS A TYPICAL ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR OF ACADIA. I HAVE A 2008 GMC ACADIA AND MY PASSENGER LOW BEAM KEPT GOING OUT EVERY 2-3 MONTHS. FINALLY AFTER REPLACING IT 5 TIMES, WE FOUND OUT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS GETTING SO HOT IT ACTUALLY MELTED THE HARNESS. I'VE READ SEVERAL TIMES THAT THIS IS A NORMAL THING, BUT GMC REFUSES TO DO A RECALL ON THE HEADLIGHTS. NOT ONLY IS IT DANGEROUS TO ONLY HAVE 1 LOW BEAM WORKING, BUT IT IS A FIRE HAZARD IF YOU JUST KEEP REPLACING THE BULB. MY WIRING HARNESS IS SO BAD THAT IT DISINTEGRATED IN MY HAND THE LAST TIME I WENT TO CHANGE A BULB. THAT'S HOW I FOUND OUT THERE'S A MAJOR PROBLEM.
POWER STEERING FAILED AND TRANSMISSION STUCK IN 3RD GEAR FROM A STOP, COULDN'T MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF A CAR AND GOT HIT. *TR
WINDSHIELD WIPERS DISCONNECTED DURING HEAVY SNOW FALL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

2008 GMC ACADIA. CONSUMER REQUESTS REPAIRS FOR HIS AIRBAG LIGHT AND THE STEERING. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO IN AND OUT, AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE AIR BAG RECALL, DID NOT INCLUDE HIS VEHICLE. *JB
THIS VEHICLE LEAKS THROUGH THE SUNROOF AND IT GOES ALL AROUND THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. SINCE IT LEAKS INSIDE I'M AFRAID IT IS GOING TO REACH THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS OF THE VEHICLE. IT ALSO LEAKS AROUND WHERE THE BATTERY IS AT AN IT CAN CAUSE A SHORTAGE. WATER ALSO FALLS IN THROUGH ALL THE WAY TO THE CARPET WHERE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE, I DON'T KNOW IF THE REAR ROWS ARE AFFECTED. THIS MAKES THE CAR HAVE A UGLY SMELL AND SOMETIMES I CAN'T EVEN BREATHE IN MY OWN CAR-- IT SMELLS EXTREMELY HUMID AND HORRIBLE. THE WATER THAT LEAKS IN ALSO LEAVES NASTY MARKS AROUND THE INTERIOR ROOF OF THE CAR THAT REALLY MAKES ME FEEL DEPRESSED AS SOON AS I OPEN MY DOOR AND SEE IT. THIS PROBLEM REALLY CONCERNS ME AND I'VE ALSO SEE MULTIPLE REVIEWS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME VEHICLE THAT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. DROPPING DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL (19 DEGREES OUT/INCH OF SNOW ON GROUND), AS I'M PULLING OUT OF PARKING LOT GOING VERY SLOW THANKFULLY, THE CAR FEELS LIKE IT SHIFTED AND THEN FLASHING LIGHT SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, POWER LIMITED OR SOMETHING AND ENGINE BUCKLING LIKE IT'S GOING TO SHUT OFF. I ONLY LIVE A MILE FROM SCHOOL AND KEPT DRIVING ON BACK ROAD UNABLE TO GO OVER 15 MPH. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR GOING 30 OR SO I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT WOULD'VE HAPPENED THE WAY THE TRUCK JUST BUCKLED. I LET THE TRUCK SIT FOR A FEW HOURS, NOW WHEN I TURN ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS FLASHING BUT THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL IS GONE SOOOO TAKING IT TO THE GM DEALER WILL BE USELESS, BEEN HERE BEFORE AND THEY NEVER FIND ANYTHING WRONG. TSB REFERENCE- SB-11340 SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO 2008 ACADIAS. INITIAL OIL CHANGE INTERVALS WERE VERY LONG FOR THIS MODEL YEAR AND WERE SUBSEQUENTLY SHORTENED. THE BULLETIN INDICATES THAT THE EXTENDED INTERVALS CAN LEAD TO TIMING CHANGE STRETCH AND THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OURS AND OTHER 2008 ACADIAS. *TR

PURCHASED VEHICLE FROM DEALER WITH 72000 MILES WITH 4YR/48000 MILE WARRANTY. WARRANTY RAN OUT THIS SUMMER, MILEAGE IS NOW 133000 MILES. PROBLEM HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT SINCE EARLY LAST YEAR, BUT MECHANICS WERE NOT ABLE TO HELP BECAUSE PROBLEMS WERE NOT 'PRESENTING' AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF AT DIFFERENT TIMES (JUST AS THE RECALLED SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT DID!). IN DECEMBER 2015, THE CHECK ENGINE BEGAN STAYING ON ALL THE TIME AND THE GEARS DID NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY. THE TCM IS MESSED UP, WHICH IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH ALL ACADIAS, APPARENTLY. WE HAD A VERY SCARY ISSUE ON XMAS EVE WITH THE GEARS DOWNSHIFTING WHILE WE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WOULDN'T LET ME GO OVER 20MPH! WE TOOK IT TO FIRST DEALERSHIP OVER AN HOUR AWAY AND THE GUY CAME OUT WITH A HANDHELD COMPUTER, PUT IN ON OUR CAR, SAID IT IS OUR TCM AND $3800 TO FIX IT. HE NEVER PUT ANYTHING IN THE COMPUTER, SO WE DIDN'T HAVE AN OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS. WE SPOKE WITH GM AND THEY SAID TO GET THE DIAGNOSIS AND THEY WOULD SEE ABOUT HELPING US TO COVER IT. SO, WE GOT THE DIAGNOSIS TODAY, IT IS THE TCM AND NO HELP. THEY SAID IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, GM WON'T COVER IT, IT IS UP TO THE DEALER TO COVER IT, ETC. WE HAVE BEEN TOLD SO MANY DIFFERENT STORIES ABOUT WHY THEY WON'T COVER IT, JUST THAT THEY WON'T. OUR VIN NUMBER IS LITERALLY 6000 OFF OF THE RECALL LIST! WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY LIGHT BUTTONS UNDER MY RADIO WENT OUT FOR A MINUTE. THEY WAS GOING ON AND OFF WHEN I HIT THE GAS OR BRAKES.
