TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE PANEL WAS CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS A DEER IN THE ROAD AND THE CONTACT SWERVED TO AVOID A CRASH. AS A RESULT, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A SPRAINED NECK AND KNEE INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.
2008 GMC ACADIA. CONSUMER IS UPSET ABOUT THE SERVICES RECEIVED FROM GM. *TA THE CONSUMER STATED A FAILED COMPONENT, CAUSED A LEAK IN THE POWER STEERING GEAR BOX. *JB
CHECK ENGINE LITE GOES ON AND OFF APPEARS TO BE TIMING CHAIN. WE HAVE A 2008 GMC ACADIA THAT HAS HAD OVER $4000.00 IN REPAIRS SINCE WE PURCHASED IT IN 2010. THE MOST CURRENT IS THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $3500.00. I HAVE READ ALL 167 COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS POSTED ON THE CONSUMER AFFAIRS WEBSITE REGARDING THE 2007-15 GMC ACADIA. I COMPILED A LIST OF ALL REPORTED PROBLEMS BY YEAR/MAKE OTHER CUSTOMERS REPORTED ON THEIR ACADIAS. GMC HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TIMING CHAIN FOR 2007 AND 2009, NOT 2008 THOUGH. ALL OF OUR PREVIOUS REPAIRS HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY OTHERS ALSO. 2 OF MY REPAIRS HAD RECALLS AFTER WE HAD PAID FOR THE REPAIR. HAVE BEEN REIMBURSED BY GMC FOR PARTS ONLY FOR STABILIZER KIT, POWER STEERING PUMP ASSEMBLY AND RACK N PINION BUT NOT THE LIFTGATE YET. I CONTACTED GMC CUSTOMER CARE REQUESTING THEY LOOK INTO INCLUDING THE 2008 BUT WAS TOLD IT ISN'T INCLUDED AND ALL THEY COULD DO IS GIVE US A $2000.000 VOUCHER FOR A NEW OR LEASED GMC. (CASE #8-1702070910) I TRIED TO CONTACT GMC AT A HIGHER LEVEL (GMPRIORITYCARE@GM.COM) SENDING THEM A REQUEST TO REVIEW 2008 RECALLS FOR SWAY BAR END LINKS. FRONT AND BACK ROTORS, SUN ROOF LEAKING, FRONT GAS STRUTS, PURGE VALVE, VENT CONTROL SOLENOID AND AMPLIFIER. INCLUDED A COPY OF MY REPAIR LOG AND SUMMARY OF COMPLAINTS ON CONSUMER AFFAIRS FOR 2007-15 ACADIAS. THEY RESPONDED WITHIN 36 HOURS BY HAVING TIFFANY (THE ORIGINAL CONTACT AT GMC) TELLING AGAIN ALL THEY CAN DO IS THE $2000.00 VOUCHER. SO I CAN ONLY ASSUME THEY DID NO RESEARCH AT ALL AND I'M OUT OF LUCK. WE DON'T EVEN HAVE 50,000 MILES ON OUR ACADIA AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. THE DEALERSHIP IS QUOTING US $4,200 TO FIX IT. THIS IS A WELL-KNOWN ISSUE WITH ACADIAS YET GM HAS NOT PLACED A RECALL. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 50,000! WHAT A HARDSHIP:( WE HAVE DONE EVERYTHING RIGHT WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE IT WAS NEW, ALL REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND KEEPING UP ON THE RECALLS. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REBUILT. $3300. THIS IS THE SECOND TRANSMISSION WE HAVE REPLACED - WE DID OUR OTHER 2008 ACADIA 2 YEARS AGO. THIS IS A VERY WELL KNOWN ISSUE AND THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!! *TR
TRANSMISSION. PROBLEM SHIFTING...3RD GEAR. VEHICLE WOULD ATTEMPT TO SHIFT AT 40MPH BUT UNABLE TO DO SO. ENGINE WOULD REV UP THEN SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD WITH A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. MORE COST EFFICIENT TO REPLACE THAN TO REBUILD. NO THIRD GEAR. TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACED AT 75,000 MILES. *TR
DROVE TO PICK UP SOMEONE AT THE AIRPORT NOTICED THAT THE CAR WAS SHIFTING WEIRD. AFTER PARKING IN THE AIRPORT PARKING LOT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR WANTING TO LEAVE TRIED TO PULL OUT OF THE PARKING SPOT IN REVERSE I HAD NO RESPONSE IN REVERSE. CALLED TOW TRUCK BECAUSE I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING NOT KNOWING WHAT ELSE COULD BE WRONG. NEXT DAY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER THEY CALLED SAID NEED MORE TIME TO FIND THE ISSUE. DEALER CALLED THE FOLLOWING MONDAY CLAIMING 3/5/REVERSE ARE GONE THAT I HAVE AN INTERNAL FAILURE IN MY TRANSMISSION $4500.00 REPAIR. SINCE THEN I BEEN TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY PRETTY MUCH TOLD ME THE CAR IS TOO OLD AND OVER THE WARRANTY. BUT THEY CONSIDERED HELPING AT FIRST SINCE I DIDN'T REACH 100,000 MILES YET BUT ONCE THEY SPOKE TO THE DISTRICT MANAGER FROM MY DEALER HER SAID NO ASSISTANCE. GMC HAS BEEN KNOWING ABOUT THE ISSUE SINCE THEY MANUFACTURED THIS CAR AND HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. THE PARTS ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRANSMISSION ARE BREAKING APART BECAUSE OF FAULTY MATERIAL. WHY IS THE CUSTOMER HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR SOMETHING THE CUSTOMER HAS NO CONTROL OVER. IF I DO SOMETHING ILLEGAL I GET HELD RESPONSIBLE A MANUFACTURER SHOULD TOO. JUST BECAUSE I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO MAKE TO 83000 MILES AND OVER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY WHY SHOULD I ENDURE THE FULL COST OF SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED BY THE MANUFACTURER. SAFETY RECALL NOTICE RECEIVED MAY 2014 FOR THE AIR BAGS. TOOK CAR IN TO CREST CHEVROLET O 10/27/14 TO FIX AIR BAGS. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER I GOT THE CAR BACK. A MONTH LATER, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CREST STATING THAT SOME WIRING WAS NOT DONE RIGHT AND I WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR BACK. I TOOK THE CAR IN 11/14 TO HAVE THE WIRING FIXED. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON 12/11/14 TO FIX THE AIR BAGS BECAUSE THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS ON AND TO GET THE CAR SMOGGED. WHEN I GOT THE CAR BACK, THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYED ON AND NOW THE CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL WAS ON. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN ON 1/6/15 AND WAS TOLD THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WAS NOT WORKING AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $800 TO FIX IT!! I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE CHECK ENGINE SYMBOL WAS ON BECAUSE OF A INTAKE MANIFOLD TUNING VALVE WAS THE PROBLEM AND "IT DIDN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH BEING SMOGGED". FUNNY, THE OBD SYMBOL WASN'T ON WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN TO BE SMOGGED. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT AT A SHOPPING CENTER, I LOST POWER STEERING COMPLETELY. I WAS ABLE TO MAN HANDLE THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING AREA THAT WAS SPARSELY OCCUPIED AND DID NOT HIT ANYTHING. IF I HAD BEEN IN A DIFFERENT AREA OF THE PARKING LOT, THERE WERE A LOT OF PEDESTRIANS, PUSHING STROLLERS AND MOST HAD CHILDREN WITH THEM. I COULD HAVE HIT SEVERAL OF THEM AND HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO THE MECHANIC AND HE SAID THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACING. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED A BULLETIN FROM GMC ADVISING THAT IF I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH STEERING, I SHOULD TAKE IT TO MY CLOSEST DEALER FOR THEM TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. HOWEVER, IF THE DIAGNOSTIC DIDN'T SHOW SPECIFICALLY THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE POWER STEERING PUMP, THEN I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSTIC PLUS ANY REPAIRS NEEDED. MY MECHANIC HAS ADVISED ME THAT THE PUMP IS FINE, BUT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS REPLACING SINCE THE SEALS OR CYLINDERS HAVE BEEN LEAKING. I HAD TO ADD POWER STEERING FLUID AT ABOUT 23K MILES, BUT THE DEALER STATED IT WAS PROBABLY JUST NOT FILLED UP WHEN IT WAS OFF THE FACTORY LINE. SO, I HAVE TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE MECHANIC UNTIL I CAN AFFORD TO HAVE IT REPAIRED SINCE I DON'T WANT TO DRIVE IT. I COULD HAVE KILLED SOMEONE DUE TO THIS POWER STEERING FAILURE. MY RESEARCH SHOW THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON FOR THE 2008 ACADIA AND I FEEL GM SHOULD STAND UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THOSE OF US WHO BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE. *TR
2008 GMC ACADIA. THIS YEAR/MODEL HAS HAD A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE WAVE PLATE & TRANSMISSION. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT IN WITH 58K MILES AND HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED IN 2011. THIS PAST WEEK, THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTED TO MALFUNCTION AGAIN. SAME SYMPTOMS FROM 2011 WHEN THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR DELAYS AS IT GOES IN AND OUT OF GEARS. THE CAR NOW HAS 98K MILES AND WILL NEED TO HAVE THE 2ND TRANSMISSION REPAIRED (3RD TRANSMISSION IN CAR IF YOU COUNT THE ONE IT CAME WITH). THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 6 YEARS OLD. LOOKING AT REPAIRS, THE COST WILL BE OVER $3500. LOTS OF OWNERS ARE RUNNING INTO THESE ISSUES WITH THE 2007/2008 ACADIA MODELS. I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW GM IS NOT DOING A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES TO ADDRESS THE ROOT ISSUE. *TR
I JUST PURCHASED A 2008 GMC ACADIA ONE MONTH AGO. WE LIVE IN WASHINGTON STATE AND IT RAINS ALOT. THE FIRST COUPLE DAYS OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE, WE EXPERIENCED WATER DRIPPING ALL OVER OUR SEATS, FLOOR, AND IN CORNERS OF WINDOWS WHEN WE DROVE IT GETTING MY 3 CHILDREN AND MYSELF WET. I DIDN'T THINK IT WAS SUCH A BIG DEAL AT FIRST SINCE I FIGURED IT WAS A MINOR LEAK I COULD EASILY FIX. OVER THE NEXT 2 WEEKS, I NOTICED MY FRONT HEADLIGHT WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF AND SOMETIMES NOT WORK AT ALL. I ALSO FIGURED IT WAS A TYPICAL VEHICLE ISSUE. UP UNTIL A WEEK AGO I TRIED TO START UP THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULDN'T START, I KNEW IT WAS THE BATTERY. I TOOK IT TO GET CHECKED ONLY TO DISCOVER THE BATTERY, WHICH IS LOCATED UNDER THE FLOOR BOARD ON THE PASSENGER BACK SIDE , WAS SUBMERGED WITH WATER. THE BATTERY WAS TAKEN AND CHECKED OUT GOOD OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I RESEARCHED ONLINE THAT THERE PLENTY OF OTHERS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS IN PLACE NOW. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS ITS AFFECTING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD,4 YEAR OLD, AND A 5 YEAR OLD. MY 5 YEAR OLD HAS HEALTH ISSUES AND MY HUSBAND AND I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN HOPES TO HAVE A RELIABLE AND MOST IMPORTANTLY SAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE HE IS IN THE U.S. NAVY AND IS AWAY ALOT ON DEPLOYMENTS AND UNDERWAYS. THE RAIN DRAINING INSIDE ALSO CAUSES MOLD WHICH IS DANGEROUS FOR MY CHILDREN. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE US ALMOST 1,000$ TO REPAIR THIS. THEY WERE UNSURE HOW TO FIX THIS PERMANENTLY SO THEY REFERRED ME TO THE BODY SHOP. *TR
IT STARTED AS A VERY RARE INCIDENT. WHEN WE HEARD ABOUT THE HEAVY KEY CHAIN PROBLEM WE TOOK EVERYTHING OFF OUR FOBS BUT TWO KEYS. WHEN THE KEY WAS TURNED, THE IGNITION WOULD MAKE A STRANGE CLICKING NOISE AND ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS WOULD TURN OFF. THE KEY WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED,REINSERTED, AND THE CAR STARTED BEFORE EVERYTHING COULD BE RESET. ON ONE OTHER OCCASION BESIDES IT'S FINAL MELTDOWN DID IT REFUSE TO RELEASE THE KEY AND RUN THE BATTERY DOWN. LAST WEEK, ON 12/10/14, I DROVE THEE CAR AND IT ACTED UP 3 TIMES. WE DECIDED IT WAS TIME TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP. IT OPENED WITH THE FOB THAT NIGHT BUT REFUSED TO RE-LOCK 2 HOURS LATER - EVERYTHING DEAD. NEW BATTERY SO SHOULDN'T BE DEAD. TRIED TO START - ATE KEY AND REFUSED TO RELEASE UNTIL LATE NEXT DAY AFTER TRICKLE CHARGE PUT TO IT. SINCE THEN - ALL ELECTRONICS WORK NOW AND THEN BUT CAR WILL NOT START. WARRANTY RAN OUT 2 DAYS AGO. SUCKS!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE STEERING PUMP AND GEAR BOOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM THAT MENTIONED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE STEERING ASSIST. THE REFERENCE NUMBER WAS 14329. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE PROGRAM WITH AN ADDITIONAL PART REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. PAM
AT LOW SPEEDS, THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO SHUT OFF. IT THEN RANDOMLY TURNS BACK ON. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS BECAUSE WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL HARD TO MAKE UP FOR THE LACK OF POWER STEERING, IT SOMETIMES KICKS BACK ON WHICH MAKES THE VEHICLE VEER. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A DANGEROUS GMC ISSUE THAT THEY REFUSE TO ADDRESS UNTIL MULTIPLE PEOPLE DIE IN MVAS. *TR
SERVICE STABILITRAK, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER ARE MESSAGES THAT HAVE BEEN FLASHING ACROSS MY SCREEN. THIS HAS CAUSED THE CAR TO COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON ME AT RANDOM TIME. I NOW HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS A TIMING CHAIN ISSUE THAT NEEDS REPLACED AND IS GOING TO COST OVER $2000. THERE ARE RECALLS ON THE 2007 & 2009 ACADIAS FOR TIMING CHAIN NEEDING REPLACED PREMATURELY, WHY IS THE 2008 MODEL EXCLUDED?? THERE ARE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2008 MODELS ALL OVER THE INTERNET. I HOPE YOU GUYS TAKE THIS INTO CONSIDERATION. IT IS NOT A COINCIDENCE THAT THE 08 MODELS ARE HAVING THE SAME TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. PLEASE MAKE THIS RIGHT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND DID NOT RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 129,000.
WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT OR DRIVEWAY, SLOW SPEEDS, STEERING LOSES POWER. HAS DONE THIS AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED IT AND KEEPS GETTING WORSE. IT ALSO HAS A POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING. WHAT IM READING IS THERE ARE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS MATTER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT ENGAGE INTO THE NEXT GEAR AND THE ENGINE RPM'S WENT VERY HIGH FOR A SHORT TIME AND THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY ENGAGED THE NEXT GEAR VERY ROUGHLY. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED AN PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK. I THEN PLACED THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE AND BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE VEHICLE MISSED THE SAME GEAR AGAIN. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PLACED I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD HAVE TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT I SHOULD RESEARCH IT ON THE INTERNET WHERE YOU CAN FIND THOUSANDS OF THE SAME ISSUE FROM OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM THAT GMC IS AWARE OF IS A DEFECTIVE WAVE PLATE IN THE TRANSMISSION THAT FAILS, CAUSING THE ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED AS A DEFECT AND GMC SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
WE WERE OUT IN SOUTH DAKOTA 200 MILES FROM HOME. WE WERE DRIVING THE ACADIA AND THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. WE DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT AT FIRST. WE DROVE THE ACADIA HOME AND SCHEDULED TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. ON THE MONDAY AFTER WE GOT HOME, I WAS DRIVING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL WHEN SUDDENLY THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY OUT OF GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TRIED PUTTING IT INTO PARK AND THEN BACK INTO GEAR AND HAD NO LUCK IN GETTING IT TO GO INTO GEAR. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND IT DID GO INTO GEAR. I DROPPED MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL AND WHEN IN PARK IT WENT OUT OF GEAR AGAIN. I SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND ON AGAIN AND GOT IT TO GO INTO GEAR. DROVE IT DIRECTLY TO THE AUTO SHOP. THEY RAN THE CODES. TALKED TO THE TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THEY WERE REBUILDING 8 OF THESE A WEEK FROM THE SATURN, BUICK, CHEVY AND ACADIAS WITH THE 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID THE WAVE PLATE WASN'T HEAT TREATED AT THE FACTORY OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. IT GETS HEATED AND DETERIORATES. GM WOULD DO NOTHING TO HELP. HOPEFULLY, YOU GUYS CAN. *TR
DURING ACCELERATION THE VEHICLE VIBRATES WHEN GOING BETWEEN 35 AND 45 MPH. WAS NOT ABLE TO REPRODUCE ISSUE AT DEALERSHIP LAST FALL, BUT IS NOW GETTING MUCH WORSE. HAPPENS ALMOST EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES.
THERE IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD WITH THE DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS OVERHEATING BEFORE THEY BURN OUT ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE BULB GETS SO HOT THAT THEY MELT THE BULB SOCKET CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD. THE HEAT ALSO HAS MADE THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING BRITTLE AND CRACKED TO WHERE THE SOCKET WONT STAY IN PLACE INSIDE THE HEADLIGHT HOUSING THUS CAUSING THE BULB TO LAY ON THE PLASTIC CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD. GENERAL MOTORS KNOWS ABOUT THIS FIRE HAZARD BECAUSE I HAVE CALLED IT TO THERE ATTENTION AND BECAUSE THEY HAVE A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM #13135. THEY HAVE ALSO RECALLED SOME 2007 AND 2009 TO 2011 VEHICLES BUT NOT 2008 WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH OUR KIDS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY SLIPPED. THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THEN DROPPED INTO THE NEXT GEAR. THE NEXT TIME SHE CAME TO A STOP THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO THIRD OR FIFTH GEAR. IT WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE EITHER. THERE ARE NO "SERVICE ENGINE" LIGHTS ON. IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS WE HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH DIFFERENT SERVICE LIGHTS COMING ON MULTIPLE TIMES AND ONE TIME WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY THE COMPUTER ENGINE REVVED UP AND THEN SLOWED THE VEHICLE TO MINIMAL SPEED UNTIL LATER SHUTTING OFF CAR RESET THE VEHICLE. SERVICE STABILTRAK, ABS, ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND AIR BAG LIGHT. SOME TIMES WE CAN HEAR ENGINE NOISE WHILE IDLING AND CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK AT TIMES. THIS CAR ONLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 72,255 MILES AS OF 09/2/14 WHEN TAKEN TO GET CHECKED FOR ISSUES. AFTER CHECKING SERVICEMAN RECOMMENDED FULL TIMING CHAIN OVERHAUL AND REPLACEMENT OF THROTTLE BODY FOR AN ESTIMATED COST OF $3,727.85. WHILE ON VACATION THE WEEKEND OF AUGUST 15-17, OUR VEHICLE'S CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE GARAGE ON 8-26-14. AFTER 2 1/2 DAYS OF DIAGNOSING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED US WE HAD 2 BENT RODS IN CYLINDER 3 AND 4. WE CONTACTED GM TO OPEN A CASE STUDY. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED US AND ASKED US WHAT WE WERE LOOKING FOR AS A RESOLUTION. WE FELT THAT WITH ONLY 43,000 MILES ON IT, OUR VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING SUCH DRASTIC ENGINE ISSUES. FURTHERMORE, THE ENGINE/TIMING COVER WAS ALREADY REPLACED AT 23,118 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP ASKED US TO VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE HAD NO FLOOD HISTORY, GET DETAILS OF THE WARRANTY PROVIDED BY THE DEALER FROM WHOM WE PURCHASED IT, AND PROVIDE MAINTENANCE RECORDS. WE DID THAT. THE DEALERSHIP FIRST TOLD US THEY WOULD GIVE US $1,000 OFF A NEW VEHICLE (REALLY?). WE SAID WE STILL HAD A LOAN AND PAYMENT. THEY ADVISED US THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO COME CLOSE TO OUR CURRENT PAYMENT. WHEN WE SPOKE WITH THEM NEXT, THEY ADVISED THAT GM WOULD NOT BE PROVIDING ANY ASSISTANCE AND THAT THEY THINK NOW IT IS JUST A VALVE ISSUE. HOW CAN YOU GO FROM 2 BENT RODS TO A VALVE ISSUE? WE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO PUT THE VEHICLE BACK TOGETHER; WE WERE COMING TO GET IT. WE TOWED IT HOME. WE CONTACTED GM AGAIN TO LET THEM KNOW WHAT A BAD EXPERIENCE WE HAD WITH A DEALERSHIP THAT KEPT CHANGING THEIR STORY ABOUT WHAT GM WAS GOING TO DO TO HELP AND WHAT OUR PROBLEMS WERE. THEY ADVISED US WE COULD TAKE IT TO ANOTHER GARAGE AND HAVE ALL THE DIAGNOSTICS DONE AGAIN (AT OUR EXPENSE). THEN THE DEALERSHIP COULD CONTACT THEM TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY COST ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE. THEY SAID THAT SINCE WE DIDN'T BUY OUR VEHICLE FROM A GM DEALER AND DIDN'T SERVICE IT AT A GM DEALER (WE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE PRIOR TO THIS), WE WOULDN'T SCORE HIGH FOR COST ASSISTANCE FROM GM. WE AREN'T THE ONLY ONE IN THIS SITUATION ACCORDING TO RESEARCH. HELP! *TR

THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2008 GMC ACADIA ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR STARTED SHIFTING HARD, JUMPING, SLIPPING, ETC. THIS CAUSED A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AS THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH 2007-2009 GMC ACADIAS, NOT TO MENTION SEVERAL OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION ALSO HAVE THIS ISSUE. IF THERE ARE THAT MANY VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, THIS PROVES THERE IS A MAJOR DEFECT WITH THIS PART AND GM SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. MY GMC ACADIA 2008 CONSTANTLY STALLS ON ME THE ISSUES STARTED AUGUST 5 AND HAS CONTINUE UP TO LAST NIGHT AUGUST 17TH. LAST NIGHT I WAS SCARED BECAUSE I LEFT WORK AT MIDNIGHT AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE CAR STARTED JUMPING THEN TURNED OFF AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET . I CALLED ON-STAR AND THEY WERE DISPATCHING A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT COME ON. AFTER 45 MINUTES I TRIED TO TURN THE CAR ON AND IT CAME ON SO I CANCELLED THE TOW TRUCK SERVICE. THIS IS A ISSUE THAT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS. I CANT GET THE ISSUED FIXED BECAUSE THE LAST 2 DIAGNOSTIC REPORTS THAT WERE RAN STATES NO ISSUES. I ALSO HAD ON-STAR RUN A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT RIGHT WHEN THE ISSUE HAPPENED AND THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY DON'T SEE ANY ISSUES. I TOOK A PICTURE WITH MY CELL PHONE WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW THE ISSUES THE SUV IS FACING. EVERYTHING STAYS ON THE RADIO THE LIGHTS JUST THE CAR SHUTS OFF AND WONT START FOR LIKE 45 MINUTES TO AN HOUR. THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BECAME ILLUMINATED UPON PULLING OUT INTO THE ROADWAY. AT 25 MILES PER HOUR THE RPMS WERE 4000 AND IT JUST WOULD NOT SHIFT. WE PULLED OVER, CALLED FOR HELP AND WERE STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH TWO SMALL CHILDREN. WE WERE HOURS AWAY FROM HOME, AND HAD TO CALL FAMILY FROM HUNDREDS OF MILES AWAY TO COME HELP. THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING TURNED OFF AND SITTING FOR A WHILE DID THEN RETURN TO NORMAL OPERATION WHEN RESTARTED. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN HOME AND TWO DAYS LATER THE VERY SAME PROBLEM RECURRED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD A MILLION TIMES NOW THAT I HAVE A HEADLIGHT OUT. IT'S MY DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I'M LOGGING THESE ISSUE AS I HAVE NOW COME TO REALIZE THAT THE ISSUES WE HAVE HAD WITH OUR 2008 GMC ACADIA ARE VERY WIDESPREAD AMONG OWNERS. VERY EARLY ON IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE APPROX OCT 2008 WE BEGAN SEEING SMALL AMOUNTS OF WATER INSIDE THE CABIN. WATER WOULD DRIP ALONG THE WINDSHIELD OCCASIONALLY, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN AS IT WAS NOT CONSISTENT OR SO WE THOUGHT. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY WIFE WOULD COMPLAIN THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD "CUTOFF" OR "DIE" GENERALLY AT SLOW SPEED IN AREAS SUCH A PARKING LOTS WHEN TURNING, HOWEVER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RE-CREATE THE ISSUE SO NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. ONE DAY THIS SUMMER (2014) MY WIFE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE, IT JUST WOULD NOT CRANK. ON TAKING IT TO THE DEALER THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A CORRODED BATTERY CABLE THAT RAN FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE VEHICLE TO THE STARTER IN THE ENGINE BAY. COST TO REPAIR $1,200. IN APPROXIMATELY JUNE 2014 THE VEHICLE BEGAN EXPERIENCING A SLIGHT ROLLBACK WHEN PLACED INTO DRIVE. AT FIRST WE DIDN'T THINK IT WAS AN ISSUE AS IT DIDN'T GET WORSE WITH TIME. HOWEVER BY OCTOBER 2014 WE GOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, DIAGNOSIS TRANSMISSION FAILURE COST TO REPAIR $4,890 AFTER A $200 DISCOUNT. *TR

IT HAS 81,487 MILES ON IT. I AM TOLD THE TRANSMISSION IS CRAP. I AM SHOCKED AND UPSET. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. I DO NOT APPRECIATE PUTTING MY LIFE AND ESPECIALLY MY CHILD'S LIFE IN DANGER. MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED IN 2010 AND THE CONNECTOR UNDER THE SEAT WAS CHECKED. NOW THERE IS A NEW RECALL TO REMOVE THE CONNECTOR. DEALER STATES SINCE I HAD THE 2010 RECALL I MUST PAY TO HAVE THE 2014 RECALL DONE. THE CHECK AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON. *TR
WATER LEAKING AFTER RAIN STORM DOWN TO FLOOR MATS ON BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. WE HAD OUR WINDSHIELD RECENTLY REPLACED BACK IN MAY OF THIS YEAR, SO I THOUGHT THAT THIS WAS MAYBE THE ISSUE AND TOOK BACK TO THE GLASS REPAIR SHOP. UPON INVESTIGATING FURTHER, THEY FOUND THAT THE ISSUE WAS HAPPENING TO MANY OF THE GMC VEHICLES ON THE ELECTRICAL RECALL. I WENT TO GM'S WEBSITE AND ENTERED MY VIN AND NOTHING ABOUT THIS ISSUE ON OUR PERSONAL VEHICLE. IN OUR SMALL COMMUNITY THERE HAVE BEEN TWO HOUSE FIRES, MAJOR DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IGNITION ETC ON GM VEHICLES. WE DO NOT WANT TO BE THE NEXT VICTIM. *TR
STARTED FROM A RED LIGHT, CAR DROPPED IN GEAR AND JOLTED. TACH REVVED UP TO 3000+. FINALLY CAUGHT A GEAR AND SLOWLY MADE MY WAY OFF THE ROAD. PARKED AND WAITED FOR A FAMILY MEMBER TO COME TOW MY CAR. REVERSE AND 3RD GEAR DEFINITELY OUT. BY LOOKING AT THE OTHER THREADS, SEEMS TO BE THE OMINOUS 35R WAVEPLATE. NEED TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION NOW. LUCKILY I CAN DO THE LABOR MYSELF AND SAVE SOME MONEY. I'M ASTOUNDED HOW ANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. HAVEN'T SEEN ANY INJURIES YET THOUGH SO I DOUBT THIS WILL BECOME PART OF THE NUMEROUS AMOUNT OF RECALLS GM IS SENDING OUT. *TR
WHEN THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS TURNED ON, THE CAR STARTED, BUT RATHER THAN RETURN TO THE "ON" POSITION, THE SWITCH RETURNED TO THE "OFF" POSITION AND THE MOTOR TURNED OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT ONLY ONE TIME WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY IN MOTION. *TR
DRIVING AT 35MPH, TOUCHED BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN FOR A STOPLIGHT, VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING. I PLACED IN PARK AND TURNED IGNITION TO RESTART VEHICLE, STABILTRACK LIGHT CAME ON, AND DROVE HOME WITH NO OTHER INCIDENT.HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AT 2AM AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON MY USED ACADIA AFTER I BOUGHT IT ONLY A WEEK BEFORE. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE AFTER MUCH RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND COUNTLESS OTHER 2008 ACADIA OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
