TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE COMPLETELY REPLACED. MOST OF MY MILEAGE IS IN-TOWN DRIVING AND HAVE UNDER 64,000 MILES. I HAVE HEARD OF MANY GMC ACADIA'S 2007-2009 HAVING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *JS
THE PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SOMETIMES IT WILL INDICATE THAT IT IS ON AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL INDICATE THAT IT IS OFF EVEN WHEN SOMEONE WHO WEIGHS OVER 140 POUNDS SITS ON THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT WON'T INDICATE THAT THE PERSON DOESN'T HAVE THEIR SEATBELT ON. EVEN IF DRIVING AND PERSON HAS BEEN SITTING, IT WON'T TURN ON. IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT GO OFF BECAUSE IT DOESN'T SENSE CORRECTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING RACK AND PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS THE ENGINE REVVED AND THE TRUCK DID NOT RESPOND. I THOUGHT SOME HOW THAT IT SLIPPED IN NEUTRAL BUT WHEN I LOOKED IT WAS STILL IN DRIVE. AFTER THAT HAPPENED THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH. I GOT HOME AND WENT TO PARK AND HAD NO REVERSE. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
2008 ACADIA PURCHASED IN 2007, TRANSMISSION INTERMITTENTLY SLAMMING INTO GEAR FOR HIGH SPEED UP AND DOWN SHIFT. ON DRY PAVEMENT THE SUV WILL CHANGE SEVERAL MPH WELL WITHIN A SECOND. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. ESPECIALLY ON SNOW/ICE! I AM TAKING THE SUV TO THE DEALER ON MONDAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS. I SUSPECTED AN INTERNAL CLUTCH PROBLEM OR VALVE CONTROL PROBLEM COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. THE PROBLEM IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. AFTER READING ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS SERIES OF TRANSMISSIONS STARTING AFTER 47K. I WANTED TO ADD MY CONCERN. MY CAR JUST PASSED 63,000 MILES. I TRULY BELIEVE THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. SEVERAL THINGS WOULD HAVE TO HAPPEN AT ONCE (IE LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR, ACCELERATE, BRAKE, AND BE ON WET OR ICE ROADS). THE SHIFT IS INTERMITTENTLY HARD DURING ANY OF THESE CHANGES IN ACCELERATION CAUSING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,700.
SINCE 2011 MY 2008 GMC ACADIA HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY AND STREETS SEVERAL TIMES. THE FIRST MAJOR INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE - THANKFULLY I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND REPAIRED. THEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN BY ITSELF AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 25 MPH. THE FIRST TIME GMC COVERED THE REPAIR COST DONE BY A CERTIFIED GMC DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED 20 MILES LATER (WHEN THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY) AND GMC SAID THEY COULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY - BUT IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE. ALL THE TIMES I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE CHECKED, I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT'S TRANSMISSION ISSUES. NOT TO MENTION A WHOLE BUNCH OF OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS CAR IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. *JS
BACK HATCH ON VEHICLE WILL NOT OPEN. REPLACED FUSE AND STILL WILL NOT OPEN, THERE IS NOT A SAFETY OPEN INCLUDED WITH THIS VEHICLE THEREFORE THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE INSIDE. THE FULL VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO BE USED AND IS UNSAFE FOR THIRD ROW RIDERS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION DUE TO WAVE PLATE FAILURE. *TR
TURNED OFF VEHICLE WHEN ARRIVED HOME. OPENED THE DOOR AND REALIZED CAR WAS STILL RUNNING, KEYS WERE IN MY HAND. PUT KEY BACK IN IGNITION AND JIGGLED, NOTHING HAPPENED, CAR STILL RUNNING. TURNED KEY TO MIDDLE AND THEN TO START, TURNED OFF AGAIN AND CAR FINALLY SHUT OFF. I TRIED TO START AGAIN TO SEE IF HAPPENED AND THE YELLOW LIGHT (MALFUNCTION LIGHT) CAME ON. THIS TIME I WAS ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE CAR. CALLED DEALER TO SCHEDULE SERVICE FOR THIS ISSUE AND RECALL 14030 THAT I JUST RECEIVED IN THE MAIL, THEY CAN'T GET ME IN UNTIL JULY 11TH. A FEW HOURS LATER I WENT OUT TO CAR TO PUT ACADIA MANUAL AND GROCERY BAGS BACK IN VEHICLE, UNABLE TO UNLOCK BACK DOOR WITH REMOTE. TRIED TO START CAR BUT NOTHING HAPPENS EXCEPT CLICKING NOISE AND THE YELLOW MALFUNCTION LIGHT COMES ON. ODOMETER READING ABOVE IS ESTIMATE BECAUSE THE CAR IS DEAD, UNABLE TO VIEW ACTUAL ODOMETER READING. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM THE GM DEALER IN ANCHORAGE ALASKA ON JAN. 27, 2014. AT APPROXIMATELY 63550 MILES, DURING A HARED RAIN STORM, WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM SOME POINT. IT POURED OUT OF THE INTERIOR HEATING FAN COVER, UNDER THE GLOVE BOX ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT COVERED AND SOAKED THE FLOOR MATS AND INSULATION AROUND THE AREA. IN ORDER TO DETERMINE THE EXTENT OF THE LEAK, I REMOVED THE GLOVE BOX AND THE HEATING SYSTEM FAN COVER. THE FAN COVER WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF WATER. I REMOVED ABOUT 3 CUPS ONCE AND ONLY HOURS LATER IT WAS FULL AGAIN. *JS
THE CAR TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO NEUTRAL, THE ENGINE REVVED TO 5000 RPMS. I WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 91 IN SPRINGFIELD , MASS. I HAD TO SHIFT THE GEAR INTO MANUAL AND THEN BACK TO DRIVE TO GET THE CAR INTO GEAR. THE CAR REDUCED SPEED AND IT WAS VERY SCARY. I HAD MY SON AS A PASSENGER IN THE CAR. THE GM DEALER TOLD ME THE "WAVE PLATE CRACKED" ON THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
OUR 08 ACADIA HAS BEEN ONE PROBLEM AFTER ANOTHER SINCE WE PURCHASED IT. THE LATEST ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT WHILE ON A FAMILY VACATION GOING 65MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE STABILITY TRACK LIGHTS START LIGHTING, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN THE TRANSMISSION JUST STOPS WORKING. WE GET THE CAR PULLED OVER, SHUT IT OFF, TURN IT BACK ON AND IT RESETS ITSELF. IT STARTS GOING, BUT THEN GOES BACK OUT AGAIN. WE'VE HAD TOWED IT TO OUR FINAL DESTINATION. WE ARE NOW MORE THAN $4500 OUT OF POCKET AND RUINED OUR FAMILY TRIP, WE COULDN'T GO ANYWHERE. A TRANSMISSION SHOULDN'T GO OUT WITH ONLY 72K MILES. WE SEE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC ACADIA AND NOTHING IS BEING DONE BY GMC. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED ALONG WITH THE POWER STEERING ISSUES. MANY FAMILIES CAN'T AFFORD THESE MAJOR ISSUES, AND SHOULDN'T HAVE TO AFTER PAYING SO MUCH MONEY FOR THIS VEHICLE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE AND GET RELIEF FOR ACADIA OWNERS!! I HAVE BROUGHT MY VEHICLE IN BEFORE OUR TRIP TO MASSACHUSSETTS TO THE GM DEALER IN HASTINGS, MN AS THE STOP ENGINE NOW/FUEL PRESSURE LIGHT KEPT COMING ON ALL THE TIME. THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS PROBABLY JUST A SENSOR ISSUE. SO I DROVE MY CAR. IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS MORE LIGHTS CAME ON SUCH AS TRACTION CONTROL IS OUT, STABILIZATION NEEDS ATTENTION, BREAKS NEED ATTENTION, AND CHECK ENGINE. SO THEY FIGURED JUST MORE SENSOR ISSUE. 9/9/14 I WAS BACKING OUT A PARKING SPOT WITH A FRIEND OF MINE AND MY POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED AND ALMOST CAUSED AND ACCIDENT WHEN THE BREAK SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON. FINALLY MY HUSBAND TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO FIND THAT NOW I NEED A NEW TIMING CHAIN AND UPDATES $2045, TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE W/SOLENOID $1226.58, AND MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER $690.00. THEY SHOULD HAVE CAUGHT THIS BEFORE AS GM IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUES ACCORDING TO COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND THE SERVICE MAN WHO TOLD ME HE SEES THIS A LOT. I NOTICED THERE IS A RECALL ON 2007 AND 2009 FOR SEVERAL OF THESE ISSUES. HAD I NOT HAVE MY HUSBAND BRING THIS IN AGAIN I AM SURE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A SEVERE ACCIDENT INVOLVING ME AND POSSIBLY MY CHILDREN. GM OFFERED TO PAY FOR HALF THE SERVICES BUT HONESTLY THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR MODEL. TO TELL PEOPLE NOTHING IS WRONG, NOTHING IS WRONG AND BAM EVERYTHING WRONG AT JUST 120K MILES SEEMS FISHY. I WANT THIS FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH THE SAME MODEL WITH MANY OF THE SAME ISSUES. THIS IS NOT FAIR TO LEAVE CONSUMERS IN THE DARK CONSIDERING THIS IS VEHICLE MOSTLY USED BY FAMILIES. *TR
WATER LEAKING INTO THE FLOORBOARD SATURATING THE CARPET. *JS
THIS CAR IS A LEAKING VEHICLE. AFTER A HEAVY RAIN I GOT IN MY CAR AND WATER JUST CAME FLOODING INTO MY VEHICLE. I HAD IT REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASE THE CAR. SHORTLY AFTER MY STEREO SYSTEM WENT OUT I HAD IT CHECKED OUT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS MY AMP. BUT BECAUSE OF THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST I CHOSE NOT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. JUST RECENTLY MY SON PULLED THE DEVICE INSIDE THE DOOR AND ALL OF F THEM WERE FULL OF WATER. IT'S LIKE ALL MY SEALS ARE LEAKING ON MY VEHICLE. FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK. I'M REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I MAY NOT BE THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS PROBLEM. PLEASE RESPOND

THE DEALER DISCOVERED THAT THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
STARTED CAR AIR BAG LIGHT ON NOW IT WON'T GO OFF. GMC SAID MY 2008 IS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. RT REAR SPRING ALSO BROKE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ALSO STAYS ON. *TR
I PULLED OUT TO MERGER WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC AND MY 2008 GMC ACADIA TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING. THE ONLY REASON I DIDN'T HAVE A CRASH WAS BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO PULL BACK ON THE MERGE LANE. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON DASH. I MY CAR WAS TOWED . WHEN I CALLED A REPAIR SHOP (GM DEALER WAS BOOKED WITH RECALLS) AND TOLD THEM I HAD A 2008 GMC ACADIA I WAS TOLD THEY HAD 4 OTHERS AND THIS WAS ONLY TUESDAY ! MY ISSUE IS THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE (3,5,R WAVE PLATE) FOR YEARS AND NOT SENT OUT ANY ALERTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE . IF I HAD BEEN HIT I AM NOT SURE ANYONE WOULD HAVE GUESS WHY I PULLED OUT IN TRAFFIC AND JUST STOP. THE OWNER OF THE SHOP SAID HE HAS CALLED GM AND ASK THEM TO SEND OUT SOMETHING TO GM CAR OWNERS ABOUT THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE FOR THE SAFETY OF THE CAR OWNERS. HOW MANY CARS HAVE CRASHED AS A RESULTED OF THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND WERE NOT REPORTED ? THIS TRANSMISSION WAS USES 2007,2008,2009,2010,2011 AND CHANGED IN 2012. GM NEEDS TO SEND OUT ALERT ABOUT THIS NOW. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE REMAINED POWERED ON AFTER REMOVING THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. THE CONTACT PUT THE KEY BACK IN THE IGNITION AND SHIFTED INTO PARK IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF BUT THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN IN THE OFF POSITION. THE CONTACT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REMOVE THE KEY TO NO AVAIL. THE KEY REMAINED STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS SCHEDULED TO BE TOWED AND DIAGNOSED BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
THE TRANSMISSION HAD BEEN HARD SHIFTING FROM 3RD TO 4TH FOR ABOUT 200 MILES. AT 25 MPH WHILE TURNING THROUGH A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION THE ENGINE REVVED SHIFTED THROUGH WHAT FELT LIKE EVERY GEAR, THE CAR LOST ACCELERATION POWER; GOING FROM 25 MPH TO 10MPH. PARKED THE VEHICLE. RESTARTED TO FIND THAT ONLY FIRST AND SECOND GEARS WORKED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. DURING THE 200 PREVIOUS MILES OF CONCERN; I HAD HEARD A FAINT WHINE DURING ACCELERATION. THE FIRST TIME ANY TROUBLE OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BEHIND A SCHOOL BUS LOADING AND WHILE I APPLIED THE BRAKE (STILL COMPLETELY STOPPED) THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD. I IMMEDIATELY SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL, NOT WANTING TO REAR END THE SCHOOL BUS. *TR
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON NOW IT WONT GO OFF. WE WERE NOT SPEEDING AT THE TIME WE WERE ONLY GOING 5MPH SO WE SHUT CAR OFF WAITED AND TURNED BACK ON ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND IS NOT GOING OFF.

WATER SLOSHING UNDER THE GLOVE BOX, AND GETTING ON PASSENGER'S SHOES. PULLED PLASTIC HOUSING AROUND BLOWER MOTOR TO FIND IT COMPLETELY FILLED WITH WATER (SAME AS DESCRIBED AT THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=FNYKJLHUSXI). TURNS OUT THE SUNROOF DRAIN IS CLOGGED AND THE INTERIOR IS FILLING WITH WATER (LIKE IN THIS YOUTUBE VIDEO HTTPS://WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/WATCH?V=MXZYGDLLN-U). THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT IS FULL OF WATER. *TR
SLOWED MY VEHICLE APPROACHING A DRIVE THRU. I SLOWLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, GAS PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. MY LEFT FOOT WAS DANGLING. VEHICLE'S RPMS AND ENGINE WAS ROARING AT MAXIMUM SPEED. I THEN PLACED BOTH FEET ON MY BRAKES TO NO AVAIL! KNEW I WAS GOING TO CRASH WITH NO WAY TO STOP! I BRACED MY SELF FOR THE IMPACT. MY GAS PEDAL STUCK AND MY ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE I HIT WAS A TRUCK WITH ITS TAIL GATE DOWN. THE IMPACT PUSHED UP HIS TAIL GATE. MY HOOD, FENDERS, RADIATOR AND FAN BELT WERE CRUSHED. MY VEHICLES BUMPER WAS NOT INVOLVED OR DAMAGED. OVER $6,000.00 IN DAMAGES TO MY VEHICLE AND THE SENSORS FAILED TO REGISTER THE ACCIDENT, THE GAS PEDAL OR THE BRAKE PROBLEM! AFTER CONTACTING GM CORPORATE, THEY DENIED MY CLAIM! IT WAS 8:45 A.M ON A CLEAR DAY. I AM NOW FRIGHTENED TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE NEAR SCHOOLS OR CROWDED PLACES. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW AND MAINTAIN IT EXCLUSIVELY THROUGH OUR LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP. I HAVE ALL SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION OF REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE TRANSMISSION, BRAKE BOOSTER, AND THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000.
POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY, MAKING CAR VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND MANEUVER. *JS
I HAD BEEN HEARING A CLUNKING SOUND WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL AT LOWER SPEEDS LATELY, BUT ON THE WAY TO MY MOTHER IN LAWS HOUSE, WITH OUR ONE YEAR OLD SON IN THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING FELT LIKE IT WENT OUT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP HOPING IT WAS AN INEXPENSIVE FIX, BUT WERE NOT SO LUCKY. THIS REPAIR WILL SET US BACK ABOUT $1,500! RIDICULOUS! I LOOKED ONLINE AND WAS SHOCKED TO SEE SO MANY ISSUES WITH THE STEERING OF THIS VEHICLE. I TRULY LOVE THE LOOK AND RIDE OF MY ACADIA, BUT SAFETY ALWAYS COMES FIRST WHEN IT INVOLVES MY FAMILY. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS ACADIA ON 5-5-2014, THE VEHICLE RAN GREAT FOR TWO DAYS AND ON THAT SECOND DAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE I-80 IT STARTED TO HAIL WITH SNOW AND RAIN AS THIS HAPPENED THE STABILI TRACK AND TRACTION CONTROLE TRIED TO INITIATE BUT INSTEAD THE WARNING INDICATORS SHOWED UP ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING SERVICE STABILI TRACK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROLE AS PROCEDING TO DESTINATION THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIFT HARD WHICH IN MY OPINION IS A SAFETY HAZARD SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY OTHER ACADIA OWNERS WITH THIS SIMULAR COMPLAINT. THE ACADIA IS A VEHICLE THAT CAN SEAT UP TO 8 PASSENGERS AND IS CONSIDERED IN MY OPINION A FAMILY VEHICLE. GMC HAS BEEN MADE WELL AWARE THAT THESE DEFECTS HOLD A HIGH POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR THE SAFETY OF ADULTS AS WELL AS CHILDREN AND I SEE NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT THESE DEFECTS, I URGE SHOPPERS TO SEEK OUT MORE THAN ONE DEALERSHIP WHEN PURCHASING A FAMILY VEHICLE, GMC STAFF HAVE NOT BEEN GOOD ON WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT THEIR VEHICLES IN MY EXPERIANCE AND HAVE LIED TO MY FACE TO GET ME TO SIGN OFF ON A DEAL THAT HAS LEFT ME WITH A $20,000 SAFETY HAZARD SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY. POWER STEERING FAILURE AGAIN! 4/30/2010 AT 23624, THEN 10/31/2013 AT 80110, NOW ONLY DRIVEN APPROX. 6,000 MORE MILES AND POWER STEERING IS FAILING AGAIN MAY 2014. 10/31/2013 MASTER CYLINDER ALSO HAD TO BE REPLACED. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MY ACADIA FOR THE FIRST 50,000 MILES, BUT EVER SINCE I STARTED HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES, THIS VEHICLE HAS TURNED TO A MONEY PIT. I WILL NEVER BUY A GENERAL MOTOR FAMILY VEHICLE AGAIN. VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE SHORT LIFE OF THIS AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE. *TR
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE, AND THE MESSAGE CENTER WOULD DISPLAY 'CHECK AIR BAG'. TWO WEEKS AGO, IT BECAME NOT INTERMITTENT, BUT CONSTANT. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY GMC DEALER AND WAS TOLD $735 REPAIR - AIR BAG PASSENGER PRESSURE MODULE NEEDS REPLACING. THERE ARE HUNDREDS (IF NOT THOUSANDS) OF THE SAME PROBLEM REPORTED ON VARIOUS INTERNET SITE, BLOGS ETC. GM HAS A SUPPLIER PROBLEM WITH THIS PART, AND IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW AND HAVE COUNTLESS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LEFT THE VEHICLE RUNNING WHEN I GOT OUT. A FEW MINUTES LATER I GOT BACK IN AND PUT IT IN DRIVE AND WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE NOTHING HAPPENED. I HAD NO GEARS AT ALL. I EVENTUALLY GOT IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT 4 MONTHS EARLIER. THEY SAID THE 3-4 REVERSE WAVE PLATE FAILED AND FILLED THE TRANSMISSION WITH DEBRIS. HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION COST ABOUT $4200. *TR
I WAS PULLING OUT INTO AN INTERSECTION FROM A STOP SIGN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE NO LONGER MOVED FORWARD WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. ENGINE WAS RUNNING, SO I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND PUSHED IT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC. TURNS OUT TRANSMISSION DIED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MECHANIC SAID IT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THAT THE WAVE PLATE FAILED. *TR
I BOUGHT THE GMC ACADIA USED IN 2014. IT HAD ABOUT 80K MILES ON IT, FROM A DEALERSHIP. THEY ASSURED ME IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED AND I HAD AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WITH MY 5 CHILDREN IN THE CAR ON THE FREEWAY. I'M A SPECIAL ED TEACHER AND DRIVE ONLY 5 MILES FROM MY HOME AND OCCASIONALLY TO LOS ANGELES TO VISIT RELATIVES. AFTER 3 WEEKS OF HAVING THE CAR, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. I WAS HORRIFIED!!! THE WARRANTY COVERED THE MAJORITY OF THE PARTS. BUT THEY CHARGED ALMOST $4000 FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT THEY TOLD ME WOULD BE NEW, I FOUND OUT LATER THAT IT WAS REBUILT WITH NEW PARTS. FAST FORWARD TO 3 YEARS LATER, THE WATER PUMP, THE FUEL PUMP, THE AXLE AND THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER HAS WENT OUT AGAIN. ANOTHER ALMOST $4000, THIS TIME IT HAS TO COME OUT OF MY POCKET AS THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. IT IS BLEEDING ME DRY. I HAVE THE CAR SERVICED REGULARLY AND KEEP ALL OF MY SERVICE RECORDS, THIS MAKES ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE. AS A PARENT OF 5 CHILDREN, (2 SPECIAL NEEDS), I WAS EXCITED ABOUT MY PURCHASE, NOW I WISH I WOULD'VE NEVER DONE IT. --
GMC STATED MY VEHICLE VIN IS NOT PART OF THE RECENT RECALL ON THE HARNESS FOR THE AIRBAG AND SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM. MY 2008 GMC ACADIA BEGAN SHOWING SYMPTOMS OF THE SYSTEM. THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD GO OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHEN AN ADULT WAS SEATED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND WAS TOLD GM WAS RECALLING THE VEHICLES FOR THE ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO THE GMC DEALERSHIP IN OCTOBER TO HAVE THE WORK DONE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT MY VIN WAS NOT IN THE RECALL. I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND TELL ME WHAT WAS DONE TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. THEY STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS DONE AND IT FIXED. I SPOKE WITH GMC FOR REIMBURSEMENT AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE IS NOT SUBJECT. MY CONCERN IS THAT THEY HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THE VEHICLES THAT HAVE THE PROBLEM COMPLETELY AND THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO TAKE ANY ACTION TO IDENTIFY THE EXTENT OF THIS PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED PROBLEM. *TR
I JUST HAD THE CLUTCH WAVE PLATE BREAK INTO PIECES INSIDE MY TRANSMISSION CAUSING US TO ALMOST GET INTO AN ACCIDENT AS MY KIDS AND I WERE GETTING ON THE FREEWAY. WE LOST OUR GEARS AND HAD TO BE TOWED. I LOOKED UP THE ISSUE AND IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A MORE THAN COMMON ISSUE WITH THE ACADIA AT THIS MILEAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TIMING CHAIN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,940.
2008 GMC ACADIA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE IGNITION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON APRIL 18, 2014, HE WENT TO START THE VEHICLE AND DESPITE REPEATED EFFORTS, THE KEY WOULD NOT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER WAS BINDING. IT WAS REPLACED AT A COST OF $ 321.85. *JB
TRANSMISSION FAILURE @ 67070 MILES. 35R WAVE PLATE. GMC DEALER SERVICE REP. SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. PERSONALLY TALKED TO DEALER MECHANIC, AND HE STATES THAT HE HAS REPLACE A NUMBER OF THESE TRANSMISSIONS FOR WAVE PLATE FAILURE. IT'S BAD ENOUGH THAT THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM AND GM DOES NOTHING ABOUT IT, BUT FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO LIE TO ME RIGHT OFF THE BAT, TAKES THE CAKE. NO MORE GM PRODUCTS FOR ME, EVER..... *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL IN OUR CAR HAD BECOME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO TURN, ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS (PARKING, IN PARTICULAR INITIALLY). WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THE MECHANIC TRIED SEVERAL REPAIRS SUCH AS REPLACING THE POWER STEERING FLUID AS WELL AS LOOKING FOR LEAKS IN THE POWER STEERING. (NONE WERE FOUND). THE CAR WOULD DRIVE BETTER AFTER BEING SERVICED, BUT WITHIN A COUPLE OF DAYS/WEEKS BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME ISSUES. FINALLY IT GOT SO BAD THAT WE COULD BARELY TURN THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING AND THE CAR COULD NO LONGER BE DRIVEN. WE RETURNED IT TO THE MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS COMPLETELY DAMAGED BECAUSE THE STEERING PUMP WAS BAD AND HAD NOT BEEN SENDING FLUID TO THE RACK. WE HAD BOTH REPLACED AT THAT TIME (APRIL, 2014). WE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION IN SEPTEMBER 2014 THAT GMC ISSUED A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP AS IT WAS CAUSING "AN INTERMITTENT DROP OF POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE THAT WILL CAUSE REDUCED OR LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST." WE HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GMC SINCE THAT TIME ABOUT BEING REIMBURSED FOR BOTH THE PUMP AND THE RACK SINCE THE TWO ARE CLEARLY RELATED AND THEY INFORMED US THAT ONLY THE PUMP WAS COVERED (BECAUSE THAT'S ALL THEY RECALLED) DESPITE THE FACT THAT THE PUMP IS WHAT CAUSED THE DAMAGE TO THE RACK AND THE RACK IS WHAT MADE OUR CAR UN-DRIVABLE. THE STEERING RACK SHOULD ALSO BE ON A RECALL LIST SINCE DAMAGE TO IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE PUBLIC RECALL SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR THE PUMP AND ANY SUBSEQUENT DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE PUMP, INCLUDING TO THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,700.
WELL A LOT HAPPENED WITH THIS CAR. FIRST THE POWER STEERING PUMP WENT OUT. THEN THE LIFTERS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 54000 MILES. THEN AT 104000 MILES THE LIFTERS ARE BACK MAKING THE SAME NOISE THAT IT MADE THE LAST TIME I TOOK IT TO SHOP.THE TRANSMISSIONS WENT OUT AT 108000. GOT IT REPLACE. BUT THE HEADS ARE STILL RATTLING. THEN THERE IS THE ELECTRIC PROBLEM MY WINDOWS WANT GO UP OR DOWN MOST OF THE TIME THEY SAID THE MOTORS OR STILL GOOD IN THEM. THEY SAID THAT IT NEED ELECTRIC WORK THAT'S WHY MY GAUGES GO CRAZY SOMETIMES. THEN THERE ARE THE STRUTS AND SHOCKS THAT WENT OUT AT 60000 MILES. EVER SINCE I PUT MY CAR IN THE SHOP AT PEILTER CHEVROLET IN LUFKIN TEXAS I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE. THEY FIX A RECALL IN THE TIRE AREA ON MY CAR, AND I THINK IT WASN'T DONE RIGHT. THEY DIDN'T PUT MY TIRE GUARDS ALL THE WAY BACK ON ITS MISSING SCREWS. THEY SAID THAT'S THE WAY IT WAS I TOLD THEM IT WASN'T HANGING DOWN WHEN THEY GOT IT. THEN WHEN THE REPLACE MY HEADS AND I PICKED UP MY CAR. THE BLACK GUARD PIECES THAT GOES UNDER THE HOOD HAD SCREW SETTING ON IT. THE WHERE NOT PUT BACK IN IT. THEN THERE WAS A 2 BIGGER SCREW AND THE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WENT TO. I HAD MORE THING WRONG WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK FROM THEM THEN WHEN I CARRIED IT TO THEM. I RESEARCHED GMC ACADIA AND I REALIZED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD THE SAME THING LIKE LIFTERS REPLACEMENT, TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT AROUND 90000 MILES TO 110000 MILES, PROBLEMS WITH THERE STRUTS AND SHOCKS. POWER STEERING AND MUCH MORE. WHAT I CANT FIGURE OUT IS WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSION AND HEADS OR LIFTERS, IF EVERYBODY IS HAVING THIS MUCH TROUBLE OUT OF THESE PARTS ON THE 2008 ACADIA'S. WE ALL PAY GOOD MONEY FOR THESE VEHICLE'S AND TO HAVE THIS MUCH TROUBLE OUT OF THEM THERE NOT WORTH WHAT WE PAY FOR THEM WE ARE GETTING CHEATED OUT OF OUR HARD EARNED MONEY. THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A COMMON RECURRING PROBLEM ON THE GMC ACADIA CLASS SUVS. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED AT LEAST THREE TIMES WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR, ALL FORTUNATELY WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING A LOW SPEEDS AND ABLE TO STOP BEFORE RUNNING OFF THE ROAD. THE POWER STEERING SEEMS TO "COME BACK" WITHOUT REASON AS WELL. MY DEALER IS TELLING ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE BOTH THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND STEERING RACK DUE TO INTERNAL LEAKS CAUSED BY SEAL FAILURES. THIS SOUNDS LIKE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT DUE TO EITHER DESIGN OF THE SEALS OR INCOMPATIBLE STEERING FLUID BEING INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY THAT ADVERSELY AFFECTS THE SEALS. DEALER MODIFIED SEATBELT CONNECTION BYPASSING FACTORY HOOKUP. DISPLAY SHOWS SERVICE SEATBELT AND PASSENGER SEATBELT LIGHT SHOWS SEATBELT ON AND ALTERNATES TO OFF WHILE TRAVELING. DEALER WANTS OWNER TO PAY $853.00 TO PROVIDE ORIGINAL FACTORY HOOKUP TO ELIMINATE PROBLEM. *JS
MY PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ONLY SHOWS THAT IT IS "ON" ABOUT HALF THE TIME THAT SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. IT SEEMS LIKE IT WORKS FOR SOMEONE OVER 200 LBS., BUT HARDLY EVER WORKS FOR SOMEONE LESS THAN 150 LBS. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN MY 150 LB. 14-YR-OLD IS SEATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DISPLAYS, "OFF." THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING OR STATIONARY. I HAVE CALLED GM AND THEY WON'T PAY FOR FIXING IT, BUT HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT I PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED.
THE TRANSMISSION AGAIN IS GOING OUT ON IT FOR THE 3RD TIME. THIS LAST TIME THERE WAS SNOW ON THE ROAD AND WHEN IT KICKS DOWN BECAUSE OF THE WAVE PLATE FAILING AGAIN THIS TIME I WAS GOING AROUND A CORNER AND IT KICKED DOWN AND MADE ME SLIDE OFF THE ROAD I WAS ABLE TO GET OUT AND ALMOST HITTING THE GUARD RAIL
