SINCE APPROXIMATELY SEPTEMBER 2013 MY 2010 GMC ACADIA HAS LOST POWER STEERING AT SLOW SPEEDS WHILE TURNING AND PARKING. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED TO GET WORSE OVER THE COURSE OF THE FOLLOWING MONTHS UP UNTIL PRESENT DAY. AT FIRST IT WAS INTERMITTENT, AND NOW EVERY TIME I AM PARKING OR MAKING SHARP TURNS THE POWER STEERING FAILS. THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHERE I ALMOST HIT ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE I COULD NOT TURN THE WHEEL PROPERLY. MY HUSBAND HAS HIT A POLE BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE HE COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO AVOID THE OBJECT. WE HAVE REPLACED THE POWER STEERING FLUID, AND THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER BECAUSE MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN IDENTIFIED SPECIFICALLY FOR EXACT REPAIRS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO REPEATEDLY TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HOPE GENERAL MOTORS RECEIVES ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THIS CAUSES A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT FOR SOMEONE, WHICH I PRAY DOES NOT HAPPEN. *TR
POWER STEERING PUMP, RACK AND PINION ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHILE UNDER 100K MILES. WAS UNABLE TO EFFECTIVELY TURN BECAUSE STEERING WAS STIFF. I NOTICED IT MOST AT LOW SPEEDS IN PARTICULAR. HAD SEVERAL OCCASIONS THAT I BEGAN TURNING WITH PLENTY OF TIME TO MAKE A TURN AND BARELY COMPLETED THE TURN IN TIME.
POWER STEERING FAILS AT LOW SPEEDS AND TIGHT TURNS. VEHICLE SAFETY IS VERY QUESTIONABLE. THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT IS THE PUMP OR RACK. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE STEERING ISSUES WITH THE ACADIA.
AFTER STARTING THE CAR, SHIFTING TO DRIVE WITH BRAKES APPLIED AND SLOW ACCELERATION WHILE TAKING A RIGHT TURN OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE I LOST ALL STEERING CONTROL AND BRAKES BECAME VERY HARD TO PRESS AS WELL. I MANAGED TO STOP THE CAR AND PUT IT BACK TO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, THEN BACK ON AGAIN. I DIDN'T HAVE THE ISSUE AGAIN. LUCKILY I DIDN'T HIT ANOTHER CAR IN THE PARKING LOT. *TR
CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AND THEN STABILITY LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHTS ALL CAME ON. TOOK IT TO GET REPROGRAMMED, HAPPENED AGAIN NEXT DAY. TOOK IT A SECOND TIME HAPPENED AGAIN A WEEK LATER. TOOK IT AGAIN A 3RD TIME HAPPENING NOW A MONTH LATER. SO MAD. *TR
A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING A CERTIFIED 2010 ACADIA THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM WOULD WORK INTERMITTENT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST ME OVER $1000 FOR THEM TO FIX IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I FEW MONTHS LATER THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM STARTED TO DO THE SAME. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT THERE PROBLEM AND WOULD FIX IT IF I PAID FOR THE FIX. NOW NEITHER LOW BEAM WILL WORK AND I HAVE TO USE THE FOG LIGHTS IF I WANT TO DRIVE AT NIGHT. THE VISIBILITY IS TERRIBLE AND UNSAFE. THIS WAS AN ISSUE GM AND THE DEALER KNEW BEFORE SELLING THE VEHICLE TO ME.
VEHICLE HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH STEERING AT LOW SPEEDS. WHILE TRYING TO PARK, PULL INTO TRAFFIC OR MAKE LOW SPEED TURNS, THE STEERING WILL SEIZE. NO CURRENT RECALLS SO ISSUE REPORTED TO GMC ON 8/13/13 FOR CONSIDERATION. *TR
AT RANDOM TIMES, MY CAR'S STEERING BECOMES EXTREMELY STIFF, SOMETIMES TO THE POINT THAT I CANNOT MAKE THE TURN. USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR MAKING A TIGHT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION. I'VE NOTICED THAT IT USUALLY OCCURS WHEN APPLYING MY BRAKES WHILE TURNING. I'VE LEARNED TO MAKE THESE TURNS WITHOUT USING THE BRAKES. I HAD THE FLUID CHANGED, BUT DIDN'T HELP THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE "FIX", AS HE THINKS IT IS THE PUMP. SHAME ON GM FOR NOT RECALLING THIS PRODUCT. ARE THEY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GET INJURED? HOW SAD IS THAT! I'M SURPRISED TO READ OF SO MANY COMPLAINTS THAT ARE VERY SIMILAR TO MINE. BECAUSE OF THIS... GM'S TURNING A BLIND EYE... I WILL MOST LIKELY NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE A GM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE BECAME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THERE WAS A CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHENEVER THE CONTACT WAS MAKING A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO LOW POWER STEERING FLUID. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,834.
WHILE LEAVING A PARKING LOT - TRIED TO AVOID A POLE - WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN STEERING WHEEL - IT WAS AS THOUGH I HAD NO POWER STEERING - *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AT AN INTERSECTION, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND I HAD TO USE BOTH HANDS TO TURN THE WHEEL. DURING THE MONTH, THERE WERE SEVERAL MORE INSTANCES WITH SLOW TURNS TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT. THERE IS ALSO A BUMPING NOISE (THUMP, THUMP) COMING FROM SOMEWHERE UNDERNEATH THE STEERING WHEEL. IT IS NOT ALL THE TIME BUT INCREASING AS TIME GOES ON. THE STEERING WHEEL IS MORE BECOMING MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE INCIDENTS ARE INCREASING. I WENT TO A CHEVORLET/GMC DEALERSHIP THIS MORNING AND WAS TOLD IT WAS EITHER MY POWER STEERING PUMP OR THE RACK AND PINION THAT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THEY WOULD HAVE TO HAVE MY VEHICLE FOR 2 DAYS, ONE TO TEST IT TO DETERMINE THE EXACT NATURE OF THE PROBLEM AND ONE DAY TO FIX IT. THE COST WOULD BE ANYWHERE FROM $300-$600, DEPENDING ON THE CAUSE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL FORUMS ON THE INTERNET OF ACADIA OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT POWER STEERING PROBLEMS GOING DOWN INTERSTATES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO EXIT ONTO AN OFF RAMP AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. *TR
IT SEEMS THAT EVERYTIME I AM AT A LOW SPEED <15MPH (SUCH AS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, TURNING AT A FOUR WAY STOP, ETC) THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO LOCK UP AND IT TAKES ALL MY STRENGTH TO TURN IT TO GO THE CORRECT DIRECTION. IT IS DANGEROUS. PULLING IN A STRAIGHT LINE ISN'T BAD, BUT BACKING OUT OF A PUBLIC PARKING SPACE OR SOMETHING SIMILAR COULD BE BAD. I JUST NOTICED IT EVERY NOW AND THEN SOMETIME IN AUGUST, HOWEVER, WITHIN THE LAST FEW WEEKS IT HAS GOTTEN SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE. FLUIDS APPEAR FINE. IT ONLY HAS 63,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I HAVE A 2010 GMC ACADIA FULLY LOADED, ALL THE AWESOME GADGETS, PAID OUT THE WAZOO FOR A CAR LIKE THIS, I SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. WAITING ON THE DEALER TO TELL ME WHATS GOING ON NOW, HOWEVER, THEY ARE SAYING IT COULD COST ME OVER $1000 TO FIX. I HAVE THE 100,000 POWER TRAIN WARRANTY ON IT BUT THE OTHER RAN OUT AT 60,000 MILES. THIS IS NO WAY TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CONSUMER. I WILL NOT PAY FOR THAT, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN YEAR MODELS 2009-2012. SEEMS LIKE A RECALL IS IN ORDER! NOT THE BEST WAY TO KEEP YOUR CONSUMERS. BEFORE THIS PROBLEM, I SWORE I WOULD NEVER HAVE ANYTHING BUT AN ACADIA, DEPENDING ON THIS OUTCOME, THAT DECISION COULD BE DRASTICALLY CHANGED. WHEN PULLING ONTO THE ROAD OR OUT OF A PARKING LOT AT LOW SPEED, THE STEERING FAILS. I HAVE MANHANDLE THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE THE CAR TURN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO STOP TO AVOID HITTING ON COMING CARS. *TR
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT FOR GMC 2010 ACADIA SECOND ROW SEATING SEAT BELT ISSUE. RECALL #N100243. ALTHOUGH MY CARS VIN NUMBER [XXX]. DOES NOT FALL INTO THE RECALL LIST. MY CARS SECOND ROW SEAT BELT IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE RECALL DESCRIBES. BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT SO IN THE MEAN TIME I CANNOT CARRY ANY CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE OF SAFETY BELT CONCERNS. IGNITION SWITCH -- WE BOUGHT OUR 2010 GMC ACADIA FROM THE FORT WORTH FEDERAL COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION IN 2012. SOMETIME IN SEPTEMBER 2013 WE WERE ON I-35W FREEWAY DRIVING FROM FORT WORTH, TEXAS TO OKLAHOMA. THE SPEED WAS BETWEEN 65-68 MPH. SUDDENLY, THE ACADIA LOST ALL POWER. I YELLED ?WHAT THE HELL!!? THE RPMS DROPPED DRASTICALLY AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT DOWN TO THE LOW 20S. I HAD NO POWER STEERING. I DID NOT TURN OFF THE KEY. I ENGAGED MY EMERGENCY FLASHERS. WITH GREAT STRENGTH MANAGED TO STEER THE ACADIA UNTO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER. WHILE THE CAR WAS COASTING THE ENGINE CRANKED UP AGAIN AND SPEED INCREASED TO NORMAL. I TOLD MY WIFE THAT MAYBE THE ENGINE ?VAPOR? LOCKED. WE DISCUSSED RETURNING TO FORT WORTH BUT DECIDED TO CONTINUE THINKING IT WAS A ?VAPOR? LOCK. THE ACADIA RAN WELL TO OKLAHOMA AND BACK HOME. IT DID NOT DO IT AFTER THAT ON THE FREEWAY. WE NOTICED HOWEVER THAT WHEN SLOWING TO ABOUT 5-10 MPH TO ENTER OUR DRIVEWAY OR OTHER ENTRANCES, THE POWER STEERING BECAME VERY HARD AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED WAY BEFORE WE HAD EVEN HEARD OF ?IGNITION SWITCH? ISSUES. THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS NEVER BEEN DIAGNOSED AS WE DID NOT THINK IT WAS A PROBLEM AT THE TIME. HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING BY HERSELF, SHE WOULD HAVE PANICKED IF SHE LOST POWER ON THE FREEWAY AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO GUIDE IT OUT OF TRAFFIC INTO A SAFE AREA FROM THE HEAVILY TRAFFIC FREEWAY. WILL MY CAR BE IN THE RECALL FOR IGNITION SWITCH.. *TR
POWER STEERING FAILURE. AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 0-40 MPH THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. TYPICALLY AT LOW SPEEDS LIKE TURNING INTO A PARKING SPOT, BUT IT HAS OCCURRED AS HIGH AS 40 MPH WHILE GOING AROUND A SHARP TURN ON-RAMP TO ACCESS THE FREEWAY. EVEN WORSE YET IS WHEN THE POWER STEERING QUITS AND YOU ARE MAN-HANDLING THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE POWER STEERING KICKS BACK IN CAUSING YOU TO SWERVE RESULTING IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NO RECALL ON THIS IS CRAZY WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FILED BY DOING A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH. WHAT IS GM THINKING? YET, THEY WILL DO A RECALL ON WINDSHIELD WIPERS THAT MAY BREAK WHEN A VEHICLE IS JUMP STARTED WITH ICE BUILDUP ON THE WINDSHIELD. I KNOW AROUND HERE THE ACADIA PLATFORM IS THE MOST POPULAR SELLING VEHICLE THAT CHEVY/GMC SELLS. HOW ABOUT RECALLING SOMETHING THAT COULD POTENTIALLY KILL PASSENGERS AND OTHER DRIVERS? SURE THEY WILL FIX IT IF YOU ARE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE THE FAILURE WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. IF NOT, THE COSTS ARE VERY EXCESSIVE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE INTERNAL SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WALKED OUT TO THE BACK SIDE OF MY CAR TO GET MY DAUGHTERS BAG TO DROP HER OFF AT THE BABYSITTER'S HAVE MY TODDLER IN HANDS THE LIFT GATE STARTS TO CLOSE VERY FAST I TRIED TO REACH FOR THE TOUCH PAD TO CLOSE IT BUT DID NOT WORK IT STARTED TO GO UP AND DOWN VERY RAPIDLY HITTING MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER I PUSHED MY DAUGHTER INSIDE THE SUV TO PROTECT HER FROM GETTING HIT AND I DUCKED TO PULL OUT OF THE WAY IT DID NOT STOP IT NEVER FULLY CLOSED JUST STOPED AT 80% AND OPENED AGAIN. *JS
STARTING IN JULY 2013, AFTER DRIVING MY 2010 ACADIA FOR OVER 90 MILES AND STOPPING IT FOR AN HOUR OR SO I RESTARTED THE ACADIA AND THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT APPEARED AND STAYED ON. I STOPPED FOR GAS AFTER 60 MILES AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. I STOPPED AGAIN AFTER 25 MILES AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR THE LIGHT CAME ON. I RESTARTED THE ACADIA THE NEXT DAY AND NO AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT. THIS AGAIN OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES AFTER A 1 HOUR DRIVE OR LONGER. RECENTLY, OCTOBER/NOVEMBER 2013 THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT APPEARS AFTER MUCH SHORTER TRIPS (LESS THAN 10 MILES). UP TO NOW, WHEN I FIRST START UP THE CAR IN THE MORNING, THE AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. BUT NOW IT COMES ON AFTER MORE FREQUENT STOPS AND RESTARTS. CURRENT MILEAGES 33,143. 3 YEAR WARRANTY PERIOD EXPIRED 5/2013 HOWEVER, I HAVE NOT REACHED THE MILEAGE WARRANT PERIOD. *TR
THE STEERING WILL QUIT WORKING RANDOMLY WHEN MAKING TURNS ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS, GM DOES NOT FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SO THEY WONT PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED BUT YET THEY RECALLED IT TO FIX A LITTLE PLASTIC PIECE ON A REAR SEAT BELT. AT THIS POINT WE CAN NOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT FIXED SO WE MUST DRIVE AROUND IN FEAR OF LOSING STEERING CONTROL.SOMEONE SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE SINCE RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM THERE ARE ALOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT AT LOW SPEEDS WHILE PARKING. RECENTLY, THE STEERING HAS BEEN GOING OUT WHILE SHARP TURNING AT SPEEDS OF 25 TO 30 MPH. *JS
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2010 GMC ACADIA IN JULY 2012. SINCE WE'VE HAD THE VEHICLE WE HAVE ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THE WATER PUMP WHICH FORTUNATELY IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. BUT NOW THE AC IN THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED WORKING. THE TECHNICIAN DID A BLACK LIGHT TESTING OF THE AC AND IT REVEALED LARGE AREAS OF ULTRA-VIOLET DYE COVERING THE AC HOSES AND SURROUNDING AREA. THEY RECHARGED A SMALL AMT OF R-134A FREON INTO THE SYSTEM TO HELP PINPOINT THE LEAK TO THE SUCTION AND DISCHARGE HOSES WHICH HAVE BLOWN. WHEN THEY CHECKED ON ORDERING THE HOSES, THESE HOSES ARE ON BACKORDER WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THEY HAVE BEEN HAVING NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THESE HOSES. NOW WE'RE LOOKING AT BEING OUT $700 FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YRS OLD. *TR
I PURCHASED VEHICLE USED ON JUNE 1 2013 AROUND 3 WEEKS LATER THE VEHICLE STARTED BEING HARD TO TURN AT TURNS AND SLOW SPEEDS THE STEERING LOCKS UP.I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP THEY ENDED UP CHARGING ME 75.00 FOR POWER STEERING FLUID NOW ITS GETTING A LITTLE OUT OF CONTROL AT FIRST IT WAS EVERYNOW N THEN NOW ITS ABOUT 5-7 TIMES A DAY. WHILE TRYING TO PARK THEGMC ACADIA 2010, THE STEERING FELT LIKE IT WENT OUT ON ME. MY HUSBAND HAD TOLD ME PREVIOUSLY THAT HE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WHILE TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC. MY INCIDENT ONLY HURT MY SHOULDER HIS INCIDENT ALMOST CAUSED A CAR CRASH. WE HAVE ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH THE WINDOW ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE NOT OPENING UNTIL YOU OPEN ANOTHER WINDOW. AND NOW THE LATEST ISSUE, MY HUSBAND HAD GOTTEN OFF WORK AND STARTED THE CAR AND ALL THE LOCKS WENT UP AND DOWN REALLY FAST AND THE DASH LIGHTS FLICKERED OFF AND ON, THEN, WHEN HE WAS ON HIS WAY HOME HE SMELLED PLASTIC BURNING. HOWEVER, FIVE DAYS LATER, THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE AGAIN, WITH THE ENGINE RACING AND THE TIGHT STEERING. STEERING POWER FAILURE AT LOW SPEED AND EMERGENCY MANEUVERS. THE DEALERSHIPS CANT FIX IT ALTHOUGH THEY KNOW ITS THE STEERING PUMP. AT 93000 A SYSTEMIC FAILURE OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS AGAIN. I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE A/C UNIT, I TRY TO TURN IT ON AND ALL THAT IT DOES IS FLASH 3 TIMES AND THEN IT GOES BACK TO OFF, IT DOESN'T COOL AT ALL. THIS WAS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN TURNING INTO OR ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC AS TURNING RADIUS TRUNCATED AND CORRECTION ("RECOVERY") BECAME VERY DIFFICULT. SUBSEQUENTLY FREQUENCY OF OCCURRENCE INCREASED AND INCLUDED HARD TURNS TO THE RIGHT. CHECKED FOR TSB/RECALL. TSB(TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN) FOUND. FOLLOWED RECOMMENDATION TO FLUSH AND EXCHANGE CHANGE POWER STEERING FLUID. THIS RESULTED IN CORRECTION FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AFTER WHICH STEERING INTERMITTENTLY LOST WITH VERY SLUGGISH STEERING. FLUSHED AND EXCHANGED POWER STEERING FLUID FOR A SECOND TIME AND FILLED TO 1/4 INCH ABOVE TANK FULL LINE AS SOME RECOMMENDED ON A TSB WEBSITE. UNFORTUNATELY THE POWER STEERING FAILURE RETURNED, AGAIN INTERMITTENTLY BUT WITH INCREASE FREQUENCY. THERE WERE SEVERAL NEAR ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THE STEERING FAIL. MANUFACTURER/ DEALERSHIP CONTACTED. THE ONLY ADVICE WAS FOLLOW THE TSB INSTRUCTIONS. BECAUSE IN MY MIND AND BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THE INTERMITTENT AND UNPREDICTABLE POWER STEERING FAILURES THAT HAVE OCCURRED A COMPLETE OVERHAUL OF THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM, AS WELL AS RACK & PINIONS AS DIRECTED IN THE TSB WILL BE UNDERTAKEN IN THREE DAYS. SINCE I GOT THE CAR SET 2012 HAVE STINK COMING FROM AIR VENT A/C SOMETIMES PRETTY BAD NOW IN SPRING WHEN THE A/C IS ON HAVE A WEIRD NOISE AND IS NOT COOL AT ALL AND I CAN FELL THE MOIST BESIDES I CAN SEE A SMOKE COMING FROM THE A/C VENT. I NOW IS A LIKING PROBABLY FROM THE WATER PUMP. I JUST RECEIVED A LETTER FROM A GMC SEEING THAT THEY KNOW THIS PROBLEM (WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL) AND THEY JUST GOING TO ADD ENGINE COOLANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS HAVE TO BE A RECALL. WE BOUGHT EXPENSIVE US CARS DON'T SALES US JUNK. *TR
THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOSES POWER STEERING WHICH MAKES TURNING THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICULT. THIS INITIALLY BEGAN HAPPENING AT VERY LOW SPEEDS LIKE WHEN TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR ENTERING/EXITING OUR GARAGE. LATELY IT'S BEGUN TO OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS SUCH AS WHEN MAKING TURNS ON ROADWAYS. THIS LOSS OF POWER STEERING AT HIGHER SPEEDS IS A MUCH MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION AS IT INCREASES THE PROBABILITY OF A CRASH. THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE APPEARS TO BE A COMMON COMPLAINT AMONGST ACADIA OWNERS. *TR
