GM has a recall on my vehicle since May. The recall states possible death to vehicle occupants. I have called weekly and they continue to tell me a remedy will be available soon, last week they even told me one was available which turned out to be false. The fact that GM has yet to handle this recall, and continue to force myself and my family to drive a dangerous vehicle around, is absolutely ridiculous. They refuse to give me a loaner vehicle or help with any info. Please help.

More complaints were received after the re-call, NHTSA opened an investigation on April 2017. One year later the recall was expanded to include an additional 180,000. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module may overheat, which could melt the module under the hood and result in failing headlight and daytime running lights.

Shifter won't engage out of park. There was a recall on 2014 vehicles, still seems to ba an issue 2015.
Passenger Air bag recall
A warning light is coming on telling to have the side detection module serviced. Brought it to a dealer and was quoted a cost of $1274 to repair. It is a complicated repair and if not repaired will affect other safety systems of the vehicle because all sensors are linked. I did some research and this issue is common for this make, model and year GMC Acadia. I would like some help getting assistance for payment of this issue - one that is common and represents a safety problem if not repaired. Issue is described as Side Detection Modules and Harness. If this is a common occurence and is a safety issue, a recall or other means of satisfaction should be offered by GM. Thanks, Brad Nylander 218 343-8780
Side Object Detection Indicator failure. This was a recall in 2019 after my system failed causing the entire electronic dashboard to go black while driving on the highway. I had no indication of speed while driving. Once I pulled safely off the road and turned the vehicle off, it would not start and needed to be towed. I had it fixed and within months GMC recalled the module kit due to poor design resulting in failure to protect the module from expected weather exposure. The module was replaced in 2019. Again, in 2023, exactly 4 years again, the Side Detection Indicator has failed, due to expected weather exposure which resulted in corrosion. GMC denied replacement because I have already had it replaced. GMC is unable to confirm the module kit placed on my vehicle was an improved design and was the same kit design that has been known to fail. GMC engineers need to reassess for a second recall as the issue is not resolved and could lead to devastating injury or death.
The air bag system needs to be checked but there hasn't been an accident in my car.
The electrical wiring started a fire that destroyed the engine compartment. I was in the vehicle and barely escaped injury while pedestrians were walking by and could have been injured when an explosion occurred. GEICO is now investigating the incident. A Service Battery Charging System warning light displayed on the dashboard and heavy smoke began to emit from the engine compartment then, a small fire started and escalated to a full and life threatening condition.
Vehicle was destroyed by electrical fire on December 21, 2022. It caught on fire after ‘SERVICE BATTERY CHARGING SYSTEM’ warning light displayed.
Both headlights failed at same time during night driving resulting in very low visibility with only the daytime running lights working. My safety as well as others driving on the road were put at risk as my visibility of the road was impacted and my vehicles visibility to other drivers was impaired. This problem has occurred twice within in the last year making the vehicle unsafe to drive. The first time we just replaced both headlights thinking it was a fluke but having occurred a second time within a short period of time is very concerning. There were no warning lamps and at this time has not been inspected by dealer as there is not a recall and is an expensive repair. This is a serious safety hazard and could have easily caused a bad accident.
My steering rack and pinion as well as my power steering pump have gone out completely potentially put me in harms way By impairing my ability to drive defensively. by greatly reducing the vehicles reaction time . A worn steering rack can cause you to lose partial or complete control over your car steering wheel, which can lead to fatal accident. That goes without saying that steering rack is a major car maintenance procedure and is expensive. When they perform defectively, it can spell trouble and make your steering faulty and unreliable—this is what happens when the rack and pinion goes out. And I believe it goes without saying that the power steering pump is just as an intricate part of your design as is the rack and pinion they go hand-in-hand, and the potentially damage each other. In this case, they both went out.. I believe it’s well documented across many platforms, similar issues with the same model. document to the skyline motors in Rawlins, Wyoming. At the time there was no warning lights are indicators on the instrument panel whatsoever.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2015 GMC Acadia. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V246000 (Air Bags) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Service Air Bag light is on; local mechanic advised GMC has an airbag recall.
Today I encountered a problem with my vehicle that not only put myself at risk but my children. This problem came out of no where since I have not had any problems with my vehicle before today. When going to leave I turned my car on to have it stall and die. I had someone come out and look at it and got it to work by pushing down on the gas pedals. Said nothing looked wrong since there were no check engine light or any codes coming up on the dash. So I proceeded to leave and go get gas. When going to start my car again it stalled yet again and showed a check engine light. The car then started to smell like smoke and gas to where I immediately turned to car off and had my kids get out. I then tried to start my vehicle again and thankfully was able to get it to work with the check engine light showing. I called the car dealership that I go to for my oil to let them know I’m coming and that it stalled again with the check engine light showing. I made it to the shop and they ran diagnostics on it to show that it was a time change in the engine that was messing up. They then proceeded to let me know that I would have to go to a GMC shop because they can’t do the work at their shop. He then proceeded to tell me not to drive in this because the car will stall in motion and will not go faster than 45 without dying or shutting off. Which to me is a major safety concern since I have to drive it to the shops and let along home with my children in the car. So the whole way I couldn’t go over 45 without my car starting to stall and shake. Thankfully it didn’t shut down with my kids in the car on a main road.
While driving my car I have noticed that my steering wheel shakes when I apply the brakes. Also when I turn the wheel the power steering makes a loud noise which is the steering rack box. Steering has gotten worse over time and noise has gotten louder. Praying me and my children do not get in an accident as I have no other vehicle to drive. Also the passenger airbag will randomly turn on and off.
Service side detection system distracts me from driving causing an accident
The left outer seat belt cable broke when I tried to fasten it. I took to my dealership to have them inspect it. The only thing they seem to be concerned about was having to pay for the repair. I had it repaired it is the law in pa to wear a seat belt. I also contacted gmc but they didn't seem too concerned. I have the part that broke a the repair order and pictures.
The vehicle was perfectly fine and within 2 weeks, I needed a new transmission. When speaking to multiple shops about repairing it, they all stated it was a known problem with this transmission. This issue caused the vehicle to vibrate, made loud noise, and had problems shifting.
2015, GMC, Acadia SLT. Rear brake calipers had to be replaced out of my pocket after rear brake calipers froze and locked the brakes in the middle of traffic. This almost caused a major accident in which lives may have been lost or severe injury sustained. The rear brake calipers were inspected by a mechanic. ABS, Traction Control and Stabiltrak warning lights illuminated. Had to have the vehicle towed four times due to rear brakes seizing. Vehicle was sold to me by Posner Park Chrysler, Highway 27, Davenport, FL who did not fulfill the promised repairs and lied to BBB but researching their submitted Used Car Inspection Sheet, they destroyed the rear brake calipers when installing rear rotors and pads and never did install the passenger side fog light assembly as promised after they claimed they had ordered it and held up vehicle delivery until the evening before my departure from Florida back to New York. They were deliver the vehicle by 11:30 am, August 17, 2021 but I did not drive away with it until 5:00pm, the clock-out time for all mechanics in Florida.
Power liftgate suddenly fell about 3 ft, hitting the back of my head. The liftgate then forcibly closed, pinning my hand. There was a recall for 2008-2012 vehicles to due faulty Stabilus struts that cause failure. This is a serious defect that has already caused numerous head injuries, fractured hands, neck pain, etc. This recall needs extended and consumers need to know of the possibility. Lastly, the warning mechanism that GM claims is the presence of flashing rear brake lights and a chime to warn when liftgate failure occurs only happens AFTER the gate fails, not before. The warning is of NO use. Another consumer posted an exact same complaint in July 2021 for an Acadia outside of the current recall dates.
I have taken the vehicle to be repaired 5 times already and GM still refuses to acknowledge the full extent of the issue. My transmission was repaired under 100k miles while under warranty coverage for a slipping 3rd gear, excessive shudder, and hesitation. After a 3 attempts for repair, the 4th involved keeping the vehicle for a number of weeks and replacing internal transmission parts. Within 2 months, the symptoms returned but was out of warranty. The service center refused to diagnose it further without a $1,500 "diagnostics fee". I have brought the vehicle multiple times to the dealership, and have contacted GM seeking assistance on the matter. While the dealership service centers continue to focus on other parts and/or smaller sub-components of the transmission, my vehicle remains UNSAFE to drive outside of my immediate locality. I suffer from stalling, failure to maintain speeds, I cannot pass vehicles, I cannot maintain or obtain highway speeds to keep up with traffic. I have taken it yet again for repair, where the service center refuses to acknowledge the problem. They blamed it on a sensor and sent me on my way, but not only 30 minutes later did the symptoms return full-force. The Check Engine Light has reappeared. Prior to the visit earlier today, it was recently tripped at P0796, Pressure Control Solenoid C stuck or closed. I was on the highway today with avg traffic going 75 MPH. I was unable to merge into traffic and almost got pushed off of the road as a result. The truck also slipped when travelling inclined over the walt whitman bridge in to Philadelphia. It resulted in a bridge closure for 45 minutes while I could get towed off of the bridge. Once i got to the service center, as always, but will not drive over 45 MPH unless its up to 4600 RPM, steadily. This has got to end. Please Help.
Rear lift gate when used goes up to a certain point in which you can start putting things into the car. Then it will slam down and then go back up and come back down in a forceful manner. When you attempt to control it manually it will close forcefully and yanked out of your hand. Biggest concern is if my kids were placing items in the car in which do realize things as quickly as an adult that it would crush my kids. After looking at all the information about this it has a recall open for the same thing in the 2008-2014 GMC Acadia.
VEHICLE HIT OTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS STOPPED AT INTERSECTION AT 50 MPH AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
IT APPEARS THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM TO THE CAR RADIO HAS SHORTED OUT. IT EFFECTS THE SOUND TO THE BLINKER AS WELL AS TO THE RADIO. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IT MAY HAVE OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. IS THIS COVERED UNDER ANY KIND OF RECALL. I HAVE HEARD THAT THE WHOLE DASH COULD BE EFFECTED AND MY CAR JUST STOP RUNNING. THE CAR WAS NOT RUNNING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I OPEN THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR AND IT MADE A LOUD NOISE WHICH SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS SHORTING OUT. THE VEHICLE RUNS BUT AM VERY LEARY ABOUT TAKING IT ON A LONG TRIP. WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR SAYS THERE IS A MONTH WAIT!
WE HAD OUR CAR'S BUMPER REPAIRED, SHORTLY PRIOR TO TAKING IT THE BODY SHOP THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT CAME ON. THE AUTO BODY SHOP CHECKED AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL / CAMPAIGN - 15804A, IT APPLIED TO GMC ACADIA'S MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2014-2015. THE CAMPAIGN WAS VALID FOR A 6 YEAR PERIOD, 72,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS ABOUT 57,500 MILES AND IS 2015. GMC HAS INDICATED IT'S NOT PART OF THE RECALL. THE PAPERS THE AUTOBODY SHOP SHARED ARE FOR A CAMPAIGN #15804A. FROM WHAT I CAN SEE IT WAS ISSUED ON FEBRAURY 8, 2017.THE DEALER SAYS THE RECALL EXPIRED IN NOVEMBER (YES DURING A PANDEMIC WHEN WE'RE ASKED TO DO OUR BEST TO MINIMIZE EXPOSURE, AND GM CAN'T EVEN LOCATE THE RECALL.. NOT SAFE AT ALL, FROM A LOT OF LENSES.
HELLO, WITH ONLY 50,000 MILES ON MY ONE OWNER GMC ACADIA, THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM FAILED, LEAVING ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD (TOWN STREET, HOWEVER, STILL CONCERNING AS I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT FROM THE FRONT OR REAR). PER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GMC IS AVOIDING. SINCE THEN, I HAVE NOT DRIVEN CAR ON HIGHWAY FOR FEAR IT WILL HAPPEN AT A HIGHER SPEED CAUSING TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL.
THE ISSUE STARTED WITH MY BACK HATCH OPENING ON ITS OWN AT RANDOM TIMES. FOUND OUT THIS WAS CAUSED BY WATER ENTERING THE LIFT SWITCH. THAT PROBLEM LEAD TO THE BATTERY EVENTUALLY GOING BAD AND THEN THE HEADLIGHTS BEING BLOWN DUE THE BAD BATTERY. NOT SURE HOW WATER GOT IN THE BACK HATCH RUINING THE SENSOR BUT THIS IS COSTING ME ABOUT $1000 TO FIX.
MY CAR WHINED AND GROANED WHEN YOU TURN THE WHEEL SO I TOOK IT IN AND HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPLACED AND NOW MY WHEEL.WONT TURN AT ALL .UPON READING MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THIS VEHICLE FOUND IT MAY BE THE RACK AND PINION I AM.GOING TO HAVE TO TOW TO A DIFFERENT MECHANIC TO SEE IF THE NEW PROBLEM IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
THE SUV STARTS TO PULL WHEN GEAR SWITCHES TO THE NEXT GEAR MAKING MY SUV NOT CHANGE GEAR TOOK IT TO A MECHANICAL THEY SAY IT'S THE ADJUST CLUTCHES IT SHOULD BE RECALL BUT IT'S NOT
I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR THREE MONTHS AGO, THE A/C IS NO LONGER BLOWING COLD AIR. THE AIR BLOWS BUT NOT COLD AND THE HEAT WORKS JUST FINE. FROM WHAT I'VE READ ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. PLEASE ADDRESS THIS..
WITHIN THE LAST WEEK, MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN WOULD GO OFF, EITHER WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING. I COULD BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, STAY ON FOR A MINUTE, GO OFF FOR A MINUTE AND COME BACK ON. IT DID THIS FOR SEVERAL DAYS. NOW THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL OF THE TIME. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN A CRASH.
"SERVICE AIR BAG" LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. IT DOESN'T CONSISTENTLY STAY ON. IT COMES ON SOMETIMES WHEN I HAVE MY PURSE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. THE CAR CAN BE MOVING OR IDLE. I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME SUBJECT. I GOT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AT THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WOULD BE $1566.00 TO REPAIR IT.
MY HEADLIGHTS STARTED GOING DIM, AND WOULD GO COMPLETELY OFF. I HAD TO CONTINUOUSLY TURN THE HEADLIGHTS ON AND OFF TO KEEP THEM WORKING. THIS WOULD HAPPEN EVERY COUPLE OF MINUTES WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED.
AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON, THE VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENT. SOMETIMES THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN COME BACK ON, SEEMS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
WATER IS GETTING INTO THE REAR DOORS AND IT ENTERING THE WIRING HARNESS LOCATED ON BOTH DOORS SHORTING OUT THE RADIO, THE AMP AND THE TURN SIGNALS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND ACCORDING TO THE FORUMS ONLINE IT IS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE.
THE SERVICE AIR BAGS SOON LIGHT HAD COME ON IS THERE A RECALL ON SERVICING AIR BAGS.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Acadia. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an electrical wiring failure. The contact was informed that the electrical wiring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V334000 (Air Bags) was performed in November 2023. The contact stated that the vehicle had been serviced by the dealer five times since July 2020, due to the air bag failure. The contact stated that the dealer refused to inspect the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
AIR CONDITIONING ISSUE: WITHIN THE FIRST 5,000 MILES, THE REAR AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER BEGAN TO MAKE UNUSUAL SQUEAKING / VIBRATING NOISES. THIS CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE UNTIL ULTIMATELY THE ENTIRE CAR AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM FAILED AT 45,000 MILES. THE ISSUE WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE CERTIFIED GMC CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTER AT 11 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP/10,000 MILES AND 27 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP/29,000 MILES; THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE ISSUE. AT THE 27 MONTH VISIT THE GMC CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTER (CENTRAL BUICK GMC OF NORWOOD) ASSERTED THIS WOULD BE COVERED IF THE PART SUBSEQUENTLY FAILED. UPON FAILURE, THAT SERVICE CENTER REFUSED TO HONOR THAT COMMITMENT. PER GM SERVICE BULLETIN 16-NA-046, THE BLOWER MOTOR MAY EMIT BRUSH DUST THAT CONTAINS SOME COPPER PARTICLES. THESE PARTICLES COULD LEAD TO ACCELERATED CORROSION TO THE AUXILIARY EVAPORATOR AND A SMALL REFRIGERANT LEAK, WHICH ULTIMATELY LEADS TO FAILURE OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM. HOWEVER, THE GMC CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTER ASSERTED THAT THE FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM RELATED SOLELY TO THE FAILURE OF THE REAR AUXILIARY UNIT AND ENTIRELY UNRELATED TO ANY ISSUES FROM THAT MAY HAVE EXISTED WITHIN THE BLOWER IN CONTRADICTION TO THE SERVICE BULLETIN.
EVERY TIME I GO TO THE GAS STATION AFTER FILLING UP MY TRUCK WITH GASOLINE, MY VEHICLE WILL NOT START UP RIGHT AWAY. I HAVE TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL LIGHTLY IN ORDER FOR IT TO START UP. THIS JUST STARTED RECENTLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 GMC ACADIA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, AN ABNORMAL SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE SUNROOF. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO A PARKING LOT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE SUNROOF SHATTERED WITHOUT IMPACT. THE CONTACT STATED AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AND THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO AN AUTO GLASS SHOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND INSPECTED BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,974. *LN*JB
WATER IS COLLECTED WHERE THE AMPS ARE LOCATED NEAR THE DOOR HINGES AND SHORTS THEM OUT. NOTHING THAT HAS A SOUND WORKS AFTER THAT. SO NO RADIO, BACK UP SENSOR SOUNDS, SEAT BELT REMINDERS, BLINKERS, CELL PHONE SPEAKERS, ETC. COSTS ABOUT $1000 TO GET FIXED AND WILL ONLY HAPPEN AGAIN BECAUSE OF FAULTY DRAINAGE. IT HAPPENED AFTER RAINING FOR A COUPLE DAYS. CAR WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND THE SOUND HAS NEVER COME BACK ON. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS AFTER PUTTING FUEL IN. WON'T INITIALLY START UNTIL SECOND TRY TURNING IT ON.
SIDE BLIND ZONE SENSORS FAIL DUE TO WATER INTRUSION - WHICH IS A KNOWN ISSUE. A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT (#N172097060) WAS ISSUED TO REPAIR THIS HOWEVER NOT ALL VEHICLES ARE COVERED IN THE SCA VIN SEARCH - AND ARE NOT BEING ADDRESSED. MY VEHICLE DID NOT FALL WITHIN THE VIN SEARCH AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE SCA. THE DAY AFTER THE INITIAL DIAGNOSTIC AND AWAITING THE PART FOR REPAIR I EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN DUE TO THE CORRUPTION OF THE SENSOR. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THIS SITUATION UNTIL AFTER I RESEARCHED THE SCA. THIS CORRUPTION IS NOTED IN THE SCA, HOWEVER IT ONLY STATES PART OF THE ISSUES YOU MAY SEE. DURING THE SHUTDOWN I WAS LUCKILY NOT IN MOTION, HOWEVER, THE CORRUPTION OF THE GMLAN CAUSE THE AIRBAGS TO DISABLE, PASSENGER AIRBAG PRESENCE DETECTION TURNED OFF, TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR MONITORS WERE DISABLED, THE ENTIRE DIC SHUT DOWN, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER SHUT DOWN, RADIO AND INFOTAINMENT CENTER SHUT DOWN, DOOR LOCKS MALFUNCTIONED, POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN, POWER BRAKES SHUT DOWN, WINDOWS WERE DISABLED, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART UNTIL AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES. THERE IS NO PROTECTION BETWEEN THE SENSORS FOR ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE AND THE GM LAN. A SENSOR SHOULD NOT CAUSE THESE ISSUES, HOWEVER IT DOES, AND IT WAS ALSO NOTED IN THE SCA. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THE MALFUNCTIONING SENSORS ALSO CAUSE A POWER DRAIN ON THE BATTERY, PRIOR TO THE DIC REPORTING THE SENSOR FAILURE, WHICH IS A FIRE HAZARD. GM HAS NOT ADDRESSED THE WIDESPREAD ISSUE OF THESE FAULTY SENSORS OUTSIDE THE SCA, NOR THE SAFETY HAZARDS OF THE LACK OF PROTECTION ON THE GM LAN CAUSED BY ELECTRICAL INTERFERENCE. IF THE VEHICLE IS REAR-ENDED, THE SENSORS COULD CAUSE CORRUPTION IN THE GMLAN SIMILAR TO THE WATER INTRUSION ISSUE - RENDERING THE FRONT AIRBAGS INOPERABLE.
