CAR HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR THAT JUMP FROM THE OPPOSITE TRAFFIC. BOTH CARS WERE TOTALED BECAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT, BUT MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. *KB
WE WERE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 5 AT 60 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE JUST QUIT. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. HAD TO HAVE THE ENVOY TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. WE NOW BELIEVE IT WAS AN IGNITION PROBLEM LIKE WITH THE OTHER GMC VEHICLES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE LOW ENGINE POWER WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE PCM WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V289000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
REAR SUSPENSION FROM FACTORY IS A AIRBAG SYSTEM. I FOUND THE REAR OF MY CAR ONE DAY DROPPED TO THE FLOOR. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER AND FOUND MYSELF NOT BEING ABLE TO GO THE SPEED LIMIT CAUSE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DROPPED WAS CAUSING A LOT OF BOUNCING AROUND. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THIS IS NOT A RECALL SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. THIS IS A ENGINEERING PROBLEM NOT A SERVICE CALL. *TR
FAILURE OF POWER STEERING RACK - NO PRIOR SYMPTOMS, MAJOR LEAK OCCURRED W/O WARNING;REQUIRED REPLACING POWER STEERING RACK AND HOSES - TOTAL REPAIR COST - $1464.98. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR. THE VEHICLE RESTATED AND RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO INFORMED THERE WAS A FAULTY POWER TRAIN CONTROL MODULE. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V829000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SIMILAR FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE FUEL PUMP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH OR MORE THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY STALL. NONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TAKE IT TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS BEING THE COOLING FAN CLUTCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 83,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT THE CAR USED FEB. 2011 ABOUT MARCH 2011 SOMETIMES WHEN IT IS STARTED (NO SPECIFIC START TIME) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL BE ON (NOT ALWAYS) AND THE CAR WILL DIE WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 TO 35 MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS NOT A ALL THE TIME PROBLEM, AND I CANNOT FIND A REASON WHY SOME DAYS IT DOES THIS AND SOME DAYS IT DOESN'T. ALSO SOMETIMES THE CRUISE CONTROL WORKS AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. . ALSO SOMETIMES THE WIPERS STOP IN MID SWIPE. *TR
STOP ENGINE/LOW OIL PRESSURE DISPLAY CONTINUALLY COMES ON AND WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HESITATES AND AT TIMES WILL STALL. AFTER REPLACING PCM, OIL SENDING UNIT, THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, CLEANING THE PCV VALVE AND MAP SENSOR AND MULTIPLE OTHER PARTS, I WAS TOLD THAT THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS AND STATED THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE CAM SHAFT ACTUATOR (FOR A COST OF APPROX. $885), BUT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT WOULD RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP FROM 02/14/2011 UNTIL 11/07/12 AND STILL UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I'VE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GMC MANUFACTURER, BUT STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE MY ISSUES. *TR

SPARE TIRE HOIST JAMMED COULD NOT LOWER TIRE TO CHANGE FLAT HAD TO WAIT IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER FOR A TOW. *TR
2002 GMC ENVOY - CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE FUEL SMELL CONDITION. HAD VEHICLE SERVICED IN 2009 FOR THIS ISSUE. DEALER REPAIRED PER RECALL, NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS ISSUE, A FUEL FILLER NECK ISSUE THAT ALLOWED VAPORS TO ESCAPE. PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED AND IT IS SUSPECT THAT ISSUE IS FUEL TANK RELATED. ISSUE IS DIFFICULT TO IDENTIFY WITHOUT SIZABLE EXPENSE. NOT SURE NOW IS ISSUE IS REPEAT OF REPAIRED CONDITION OR FUEL TANK PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH WARNING ABOUT FUEL VAPORS AND CONCERN ABOUT FIRE AND EXPLOSIONS IN AROUND GAS STATIONS YET THIS KNOW CONDITION IS ALLOWED TO EXIST ON THESE GM VEHICLES WITHOUT A SAFETY RECALL. *TR
DEFECTIVE AIR BAG MODULE # P/N 15080860 SERV/NO 122162269 AJ7: FOR SEVERAL YEARS A AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT DISPLAYED ON MY GMC ENVOY. I TOOK IT TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT REPAIR PLACES AND ALL FELT IT WAS PROBABLY A DEFECTIVE MODULE WHICH SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE. ONSTAR SAID DEALER NEEDED TO DO MORE DIAGNOSTICS. DEALER DID NOT PERFORM WHEN FIRST TAKEN IN FOR SUCH. WITH RECENT NEWS OF DEATHS DUE TO IGNITION AND AIRBAG FAILURES I BECAME SUSPICIOUS. FINALLY, RETURNED TO DEALERS AND INSISTED A COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC ON AIRBAG MODULE BE DONE...COUPLE OF DAYS SERVICING. MODULE FINALLY CONFIRMED DEFECTIVE. THEY REPLACED WITH #12233969 (MODULE 16712-CT). COST TOTAL FOR DEFECTIVE PART AND SERVICING WAS $746.28. FIRMLY BELIEVE THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE ALL ALONG, BUT DEALER SAID GM DID NOT DECLARE AS SUCH. OTHER SERVICE REPAIR TECHNICIANS DISAGREED. FORTUNATELY NO ACCIDENT WAS INVOLVED IN THE SEVERAL YEARS THIS WAS AN ISSUE. *TR
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF A 2002 GMC ENVOY. I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY AND I RECENTLY CAME OUT OF MY HOUSE AND FOUND I HAD A FLAT FRONT TIRE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SINCE WE PURCHASED OUR ENVOY THAT WE ATTEMPTED TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE ON THE ENVOY OURSELVES. I WANTED TO SWITCH THE FLAT WITH MY FULL SIZE SPARE. WHEN MY HUSBAND TRIED TO REMOVE THE SPARE THE HOIST THAT HOLDS THE SPARE TIRE WOULD NOT BUDGE. HE EVENTUALLY JACKED UP THE VEHICLE AND REMOVED THE FLAT TIRE AND TOOK IT TO BE REPAIRED. LATER THAT DAY I BROUGHT MY ENVOY TO A TIRE STORE TO REPLACE ALL MY TIRES. THE SERVICE ATTENDANT TOLD ME HE COULD NOT LOWER THE HOIST TO REMOVE THE SPARE EITHER AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO MY GMC DEALER. I BROUGHT MY ENVOY BACK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IT FROM AND THEY ALSO COULD NOT LOWER THE HOIST. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER AND HE TOLD ME IT WAS A 'DESIGN FLAW ON THE PART OF GMC. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HIS GMC VEHICLE ONLY IN HIS CASE THE HOIST AND SPARE FELL OUT OFF HIS WHILE HE WAS DRIVING IT AND HE DID NOT EVEN REALIZE IT UNTIL HE LOOKED UNDERNEATH ONE DAY AND IT WAS GONE. HE THEN TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME $285 TO REPLACE MINE. I CALLED GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE MY CAR HAD 89,000 MILES AND IT WAS OUT OF ITS WARRANTY THAT THEY WOULD NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE REPAIR. GMC SAID IT WAS 'NORMAL WARE AND TARE' AND WAS CAUSED BY BAD WEATHER AND ROAD SALT. WHY ON EARTH WOULD GMC DESIGN A SPARE TIRE HOIST THAT COULD NOT WITHSTAND THE ELEMENTS FOR THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE? THERE IS NOTHING WRITTEN IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL ABOUT HOW TO CARE AND MAINTAIN FOR THE SPARE TIRE HOIST ON THE 2002 ENVOY. I WAS LUCKY THE FLAT OCCURRED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE AND NOT ON A HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE SIDEVIEW MIRRORS ARE DO NOT STAY IN POSITION AND MOVE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TO GET IT FIXED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DISPLAYING INACCURATE FUEL LEVELS. THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE DISPLAYED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL WHEN IN FACT, THE TANK WAS EMPTY. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TO FOUR TIMES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
STRONG SMELL OF GAS BEFORE AND AFTER STARTING ENGINE. *TR
ON JUNE 26,2010, I HAD A FLAT TIRE. I OWN A 2002 GMC ENVOY. LUCKILY I WAS AT HOME WHEN I NOTICED I HAD A FLAT TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR. I'VE CHANGED FLATS BEFORE SO I FIGURED OK, I MIGHT AS WELL GET STARTED. TO MY HORROR I DISCOVERED THE HOIST ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT LOWER THE SPARE TIRE. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS HAPPENING. AFTER TRYING FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE I GAVE UP. SO MY WIFE SAID CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO HELP. I CALLED THEM AND THEY CAME TO MY HOME TO ASSIST. I HAD THE VEHICLE JACKED UP AND SUPPORTED SO THE DRIVER OF THE TOWTRUCK WOULD TAKE A LOOK. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO EITHER. THIS IS NOW TOTAL FRUSTRATION. AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF DELIBERATION, I DECIDED TO GO ON THE INTERNET TO FIND A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. LUCKILY, I FOUND A FORUM OF OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE AND WHO HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS I HAD. THEIR SUGGESTION WORKED FOR ME, HOWEVER, THE REAL PROBLEM STILL EXISTS WITH HOIST ON THE VEHICLE. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A VERY SEVERE PROBLEM WHICK REQUIRES A RECALL. GM MADE A HUGE GAFFE WITH THIS ONE. *TR
#1 RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM ROTTED OUT AND FAILED #2 UPON INSPECTION LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM TO FRAME ROTTED AND LARGE SEPARATION HAS FORMED. *TR
SPARE TIRE HOIST SECONDARY LATCH FROZEN, 2002 GMC ENVOY. SPARE TIRE COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM HOIST WHEN A ROAD HAZARD BLOWOUT OCCURRED. TOW TRUCK OPERATOR COULD NOT REMOVE SPARE. AFTER A TOW TO TIRE VENDOR, THEY COULD NOT GET THE SPARE DOWN. UPON VISITING A DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE AND SAID THE MECHANISM WAS 'FROZEN' AND HAD TO BE REPLACED FOR $250, BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART IN STOCK. AFTER A TRIP TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, THEY CUT THE HOIST CABLE, REMOVED THE SPARE AND REPLACED THE HOIST PART. ONE CAN ONLY IMAGINE THE TRAUMA IF THE FAMILY HAD BEEN ON US HIGHWAY 50 IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. THIS MUST BE A PRIMA-FACIE VIOLATION OF THE FMVSS CODE THAT REQUIRES A SPARE TIRE. YES, THE SPARE TIRE IS PRESENT, BUT IT CAN'T BE INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. ONE WOULD HOPE THAT AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS KNOW THAT THE UNDERSIDE OF A VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO CORROSION AND DESIGN ACCORDINGLY. RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE, MANY ENTHUSIAST FORUMS AND OTHER BLOGS REFLECT THE FRUSTRATIONS OF OWNERS WITH THE SAME SITUATION. THE COMMON GRASSROOTS SOLUTION IS TO CUT/GRIND OFF THE SECONDARY LATCH. THUS DEFEATING THE SAFETY SYSTEM INTENT. ONE CAN ONLY HOPE THEY ARE NOT BEHIND A MOVING VEHICLE WITH SUCH A MODIFICATION WHEN THE SPARE TIRE DROPS. GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHILE POLITE, INFORMED THAT THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE THE COST OF THE HOIST REPLACEMENT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT A SERVICE BULLETIN COVERING THE PROBLEM. YES, THE VEHICLE IS LONG OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THIS IS A SERIOUS CUSTOMER SAFETY ISSUE. FROM THE FORUMS AND BLOGS, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A PERVASIVE PROBLEM, AND THE 'FIX' MIGHT BE MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE INITIAL ISSUE. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2002 GMC ENVOY NEW IN 2002. EARLY THIS YEAR THE STARTER QUIT WORKING, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THE STARTER WAS BAD AND IT WOULD COST $625. I REPAIRED CARS FOR 30 YEARS BEFORE I BECAME HANDICAPPED, NOW I AM UNABLE TO REPAIR, WHEN I DID REPAIR I PUT ABOUT 20 STARTERS IN FOR $39 FOR THE STARTER AND 1 HOUR LABOR. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE SHIFTER SOLENOID NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 GMC ENVOY SLT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE LOW BEAM LIGHTS FAILED. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR INTERMITTENTLY AND DID NOT AFFECT THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS. THE DEALER ADVISED BRINGING THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE WAS NOT ANY RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
ON FEBRUARY 8, 2010, I PUT MY SUV IN MY GARAGE FOR THE NIGHT. WHEN I WENT TO GET IN IT THE NEXT MORNING TO GO TO WORK, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW WAS DOWN. I WENT TO TURN THE IGNITION KEY AND NOTHING WORKED ON THAT SIDE OF THE DOOR AND THE WINDOW WOULD NOT GO UP. THIS PANEL CONTROLS EVERYTHING, SEAT CONTROL, MOVEMENT AND HEATED SEAT, ALL WINDOWS, BOTH OUTSIDE MIRRORS, AND NOW WHEN I TURN THE KEY ON THE HORN BLOWS. WHEN I LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE ALARM TO TELL ME I DID, DOES NOT GO OFF. I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR. I HAD TO DRIVE IT TO A DEALERSHIP, IN A SNOW STORM, 0 DEGREE WEATHER, WITH THE WINDOW DOWN, ONLY TO FIND OUT THE MASTER SWITCH ON THE DRIVERS DOOR HAD BURNED UP. THE SERVICE MGR. TO WHO I TOOK IT TO TRIED TO FIND THE PART BY CALLING THE GMC DEALERSHIP AND JUNK YARDS ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND THAT A PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE. MOST OF THE DOORS WE WERE TOLD, WERE CATCHING ON FIRE AND THE SERVICE MGR. TOLD ME HE COULD SMELL WHERE IT HAD BURNED AND I WAS LUCKY IT DIDN'T CATCH ON FIRE IN MY GARAGE. I AM STILL WAITING ON A PART TO BE FOUND OR TO BE MANUFACTURED. IF THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ON RECALL AND HOW SOON CAN I EXPECT A PART AND COULD THIS STILL CATCH ON FIRE. AFTER A LOT OF WORK, THEY FINALLY GOT MY WINDOW UP, MANUALLY SO I CAN STILL DRIVE IT BUT IT IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THE CONTACT THIS PART HAS BEEN FAILING ON MANY OF THESE VEHICLES AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER, SO THE VEHICLE CAN NOT BE REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAD THE ELECTRICAL CLUSTER ON MY 2002 GMC ENVOY XLT REPLACED IN JULY OF 2009 DUE TO THE GAS GAUGE FLUCTUATION. I WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A BAD ELECTRONIC CLUSTER THAT WAS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRENTY.IT WAS REPLACED. NOW IT IS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR HAD GONE BAD. AFTER PAYING 462.00 FOR THE REPAIR THE GAS GAUGE IS STILL FLUCTUATING. *TR
I TOOK MY CAR TO JAY AUTO MALL IN COLUMBUS GA. AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FLAP ON THE WASHER FLAP THAT COVERS THE HOLE THAT DELIVERS THE WINDSHEILD WIPER FLUID TO CLEAN THE WINDSHEILD. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO BREAKDOWN THE COMPLETE DELIVERY SYSTEM OF THE WIPER FLUID TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE DELIVERY SYSTEM WORKS FINE FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALL I NEED IS A REPAIR OF THE WIPER FLAP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. CAN YOU HELP ME?

THIS IS THE SECOND TIME SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE THAT WE HAVE HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE HATCHBACK GLASS. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN APROX. 2003 WHEN THE GLASS CAME LOOSE FROM THE HINGES AND DROPPED. THIS IS A CLEAR DESIGN FLAW, AS THE ROUTING IS CLOSE TO THE CATALYST. BESIDES THE OBVIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS OF AN ON THE ROAD TRANSMISSION FAILURE, THE LOCATION MAKES A FIRE LIKELY. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS AND THE CONTACT INDEPENDENTLY REPLACED THE HARNESS CONNECTOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
I OWN A 2002 GMC ENVOY. FOR THE PAST YEAR OR SO, I'VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WHENEVER I STOP AT A RED LIGHT, THE CAR STARTS TO SHAKE AND SOMETIMES TURNS OFF. I USUALLY TURN THE CAR OFF AND START IT UP AGAIN. ON MONDAY, JULY 27TH, I WAS DRIVING WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY SHUT DOWN. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO A SAFE SPOT AND NO FURTHER DAMAGE WAS DONE TO MY CAR OR OTHER PROPERTY. I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START. I HAD TO GET THE CAR TOWED TO A NEARBY MECHANIC. ONCE THERE, THE MECHANIC LOOKED OVER THE CAR AND DETERMINED THAT IT WAS THE COMPUTER ENGINE AND THAT IT WAS UNDER RECALL. HE HAD ME CALL GMC SO THAT I COULD REPORT THE INCIDENT. WHEN I CALLED, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO RECALLS ON MY EXACT CAR BUT THAT SHE WOULD CONTACT THE MECHANIC AND GET SOME MORE INFORMATION. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS OF WAITING WITH NO VEHICLE OR CALL FROM GMC, I FINALLY GET A CALL BACK FROM THE MECHANIC TELLING ME THAT HE SPOKE TO THE GMC REPRESENTATIVE AND THAT THEY WOULD BE CALLING ME BACK TO SET UP A DATE AND TIME TO TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE FIXED AND THAT THE RECALL INFORMATION WAS CORRECT. ABOUT AN HOUR LATER, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM GMC AND SHE TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE NOT GOING TO COVER THE REPAIR. NEVER HAVING TO DEAL WITH THIS BEFORE, I WAS COMPLETELY CONFUSED AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON AND WHY GMC WAS NOT COVERING IT. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME AND I WOULD LIKE TO GET SOME RESOLUTION FROM IT. *TR

THERE WAS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (10026522) BUT HER VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE MILEAGE RANGE OF 120,000 MILES. THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR HER VEHICLE FREE OF CHARGE. SHE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST HER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 128,214. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE BEACH (SANDY HOOK NATIONAL PARK, NJ) WHEN MY SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. I USED ON STAR TO REMOTE DIAGNOSE THE CODE, AND WAS TOLD IT WAS AN ERROR IN MY TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY NEAREST SERVICE CENTER WHO INSPECTED MY TRUCK AND INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS MY TRANSMISSION LINES THAT HAD JUST SIMPLY 'CORRODED' AND THAT MY TRANSMISSION HAS ALMOST BEEN RUNNING ON NO FLUID. THIS WAS SHOCKING CONSIDERING I MAINTAIN GOOD CARE OF MY 2002 ENVOY AND HAD SEEN NO SIGN OF LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID BUT WAS INFORMED IT WAS SOMEHOW ALL OVER THE BOTTOM OF MY TRUCK. THEY WERE ABLE TO FIX THE LINES FOR A COST OF 690 DOLLARS, BUT I STILL FEEL THAT SOMETHING IS NOT QUITE RIGHT WITH THIS SITUATION AND HAVE TALKED TO OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. *TR
I HAVE A ROARING SOUND AT TIMES WHEN I FIRST BEGIN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IF I SLOW DOWN OR STOP WITHIN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE VEHICLE COMMONLY STALLS.
