2005 ENVOY FAULTY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CONTACTED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AT THIS TIME FOR THIS YEAR MODEL. NOT COVERED BY BULLETIN: GM SPEEDOMETER "SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT" 07187A 07187B. JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED AND BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM DOES NOT BELIEVE THAT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THEY WILL NOT COVER IT. *TR

FILLED CAR UP WITH GAS AND LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. SINCE THEN LOW FUEL LIGHT STAYS ON EVEN WHEN TANK IS FULL. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING PERIODICALLY. SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T WORK AT ALL AND THEN DAYS LIKE TODAY, IT GOES ALL THE WAY UP TO 120 MPH WHEN I AM ONLY GOING 50-55 MPH! *TR
DEFECTIVE FUEL GAUGE THAT SWINGS BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY - THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST REQUIRED A REPLACEMENT OF THE IN TANK SENDING UNIT. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK DURING THE WINTER MONTHS AND MY BLOWER FAN STOPPED WORKING. AT FIRST I COULDN'T SEE VERY GOOD OUT MY WINDOW AND MY HEADLAMPS STARTED DIMMING. THERE IS AN OVERLOAD SOMEONE NEAR THE BLOWER AND MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 70,000 MILES ON IT. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE YOU NEED HEAT AND LIGHT TO SEE WHEN YOU DRIVE AND WITHOUT IT CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS. I WAS DOWN IN A DITCH WHEN MINE WENT OUT AND THANK GOD SOMEONE WAS WATCHING OVER ME. THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR A NICE VEHICLE THEIR SHOULD BE NO DEFECTS WITH UNDER A 100,000 MILES. I HAVE STILL FROM THIS DAY HAVEN'T HAD THE MONEY TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE MY TRUCK PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE BREAK MY BUDGET. *TR
2005 ENVOY, FUEL GAUGE SUDDENLY BECAME ERRATIC, READING EMPTY WHEN TANK WAS FULL. INITIALLY, AFTER FILLING TANK, FUEL GAUGE WOULD CONTINUE TO READ EMPTY UNTIL DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MILES. NOW RARELY READS ABOVE EMPTY. GAS GAUGE IS NOW COMPLETELY INEFFECTIVE, HIGH LIKELIHOOD OF RUNNING THE CAR OUT OF GAS IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 91 SOUTH, GLANCED DOWN TO SEE MY SPEEDOMETER INDICATED I WAS TRAVELING 75 MILES PERHOUR LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO DECREASE SPEED WHEN I REALIZED THE VEHICLE BEHIND MINE HAD TO PULL AROUND MY VEHICLE TO AVOID HITTING MINE IN THE REAR. SEVERAL MILES LATER I DISCOVERED MY SPEEDOMETER INDICATED I WAS TRAVELING 120MPH ALTHOUGH KEEPING UP WITH TRAFFIC. AS I PULLED OF HIGHWAY AND HIT MY BRAKES THE SPEEDOMETER DECREASED IN SPEED, ALTHOUGH WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP SPEEDOMETER INDICATED I WAS TRAVELING 30 MPH. THIS CAUSES SOME CONCERN SINCE I ONLY HAVE 41,119 MILES ON MY 2005 ENVOY XUV. I CONTACTED GMC AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND SCHEDULED A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH A GMC DEALER TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE AFTER SOME RESEARCH HAD BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM AND FIND IT DIFFICULT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN MADE FOR THIS ISSUE. SPEED IS A HAZARD, THAT'S WHY SPEED LIMITS ARE POSTED, THAT'S ALSO WHY SPEEDOMETERS ARE PUT INTO VEHICLES IN THE FIRST PLACE. LETS PRAY FOR ONCE THAT SOMEONE IS NOT INJURED SIMPLY BECAUSE THE DRIVER COULD NOT AFFORD TO SPEND THE MONEY FOR AN ISSUE THAT COULD HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BY GM. *TR
WHEN I FILL IT COMPLETELY FULL WITH GAS ON MY 2005 ENVOY IT SAYS THAT ITS EMPTY. I HAVE TO DRIVE ALMOST 50 MILES OR MORE FOR IT TO REGISTER RIGHT. ALSO ONE TIME WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING STALL IT JUST QUIT NOT VERY SAFE I COULD HAVE BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY. COMING TO A STOP, PUT FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL, FOOT SLIPPED OFF, CAR CONTINUED MOVING INTO PASSING CAR. THIS ALSO HAPPENED JULY , 2009 BUT WITH MORE DAMAGE. PRIOR TO THESE INCIDENTS, HAD SEVERAL TIMES WHEN FEET SLIPPED. [2 DIFFERENT DRIVERS] PEDAL IS EITHER WRONG SIZE, MATERIAL, OR PLACED IN WRONG PLACE. AFRAID TO DRIVE IT NOW, IT IS PARKED IN GARAGE. YOUR FORM DOES NOT ALLOW FOR "BRAKE PEDAL" . I MARKED SERVICE BRAKES, BUT IT WASN'T THE BRAKES. *TR
SPEEDOMETER FAILED. IT NOW EITHER DISPLAYS NO SPEED OR AN INACCURATE READING. *TR
GAS GAUGE NOT WORKING ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL. FROM ALL THE COMPLAINTS SOUNDS LIKE THE FUEL LEVELING SENSOR WENT OUT. ONLY 70,000 MILES . I THINK WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. *TR
FUEL GAUGE STARTED FLUCTUATING AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK. THE ERROR CONSTANTLY GOT WORST AND WORST UNTIL THE GAUGE JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE YELLOW LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED MOST THE TIME AND THE NEEDLE SITS ON EMPTY EVEN WHEN THE GAS TANK HAS JUST BEEN FILLED. WAS TOLD THE FUEL SENSOR IN GAS TANK WAS FAULTY AND TO REPLACE WOULD MEAN REPLACING THE WHOLE PUMP ASSEMBLY. THIS ALONE WITH PARTS AND LABOR WILL COST ALMOST $1000.00. VEHICLE HAD 63,000 MILES AT TIME OF DEFICIENCY. *TR
SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL IS PEGGED AT 120 MPH AND STAYS THERE ALL THE TIME EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS OFF. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM WITH GMC PRODUCTS. THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS PROBLEM ON MANY GMC PRODUCTS BUT DOSE NOT INCLUDE THE ENVOY LINE. WHY IS THIS? NO ACCIDENT SO FAR BUT VERY UNSAFE DRIVING A VEHICLE WHERE YOU HAVE NO IDEA OF HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. *TR
SPEEDOMETER JUMPS FROM 120 TO WHEREVER. CAN NEVER TELL HOW FAST OR SLOW I'M GOING. NEVER DISPLAYS CORRECT SPEED. OIL PRESSURE GAGE GOES UP AND DOWN. ALSO, HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. HAD TO TAKE TO MECHANIC TO REDO WIRING FOR BOTH HEADLIGHTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY AND THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IT DOES NOT SHOW FULL WHEN I FILL THE TANK NOR DOES IT SHOW WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY. *TR

THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON MY 2005 GMC ENVOY XL SLT IS CRACKED. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND DISCOVERED MANY OF THESE GMC ENVOY AND CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS HAVE THIS SAME INCIDENT OCCURRING. *TR
I OWN A 2005 GMC ENVOY AND THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 3 WEEKS AGO. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR AND WAS ADVISED THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS BUT SINCE THEY HAD REMOVED THE BATTERY AND RE-CONNECTED IT THAT THE SPEEDOMETER SHOULD WORK CORRECTLY. I WORKED CORRECTLY FOR 2 DAYS. *TR
FUEL LEVEL SENSOR IN MY 2005 ENVOY MALFUNCTIONED. DOES NOT REGISTER HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN THE TANK. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM FOR MONTHS. I NOTICED AN INVESTIGATION WAS OPEN IN JANUARY 2010 BUT WAS HOPING A RECALL WOULD HAVE BEEN FILED BY NOW. I DID RESEARCH AND HAVE NOTICED THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF THE SAME PROBLEM BEING REPORTED ON-LINE. I JUST WANTED TO FILE MY COMPLAINT IN HOPES THAT SOMETHING WILL BE DONE TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. *TR
THE GUAGES HAVE GONE CRAZY, ENG LIGHT POPS ON AND OFF, ABS LIGHT?, I AM AFRAID THAT THE COMPUTER MAY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING? HAVE BEEN TOLD MECHANIC THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED
NEVER HAD FUEL GAUGE PROBLEMS BEFORE, FILLED MY TANK, DROVE AWAY FROM GAS STATION AND WITHIN ONE MILE, THE FUEL BELL WENT OFF AND THE WARNING LIGHT TURNED ON. WENT BACK TO GAS STATION THINKING I HAD BEEN RIPPED OFF, BUT OWNER SHOWED ME ON GAS PUMP THAT IT HAD PUMPED $60 WORTH OF GAS. NOW THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK AT ALL, THE WARNING LIGHT IS ALWAYS ON. I'VE BEEN GIVEN QUOTES TO FIX IT RANGING FROM $400 TO $600. WITH ALL THESE PROBLEMS, GM SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX FOR EVERYONE FREE. *TR
OUT OF NOWHERE MY FRONT HEAD LIGHTS WENT OUT. ITS NOT THE FUSE OR THE BULBS, BOTH FRONT LOW LIGHTS WENT OUT. THE HIGH BEAMS WORK. THERE IS NO POWER GOING TO THE LIGHTS AND I HAVE TO BUY A NEW SWITCH. THE GAS GAUGE IS BROKEN. THE ABS/BRAKE LIGHT IS ON. I FEEL SO STUCK WITH THIS CAR! *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER CONSTANTLY SHOWS DIFFERENT SPEEDS. WILL BE DRIVING DOWN EXPRESSWAY AT 65MPH AND NEXT THING YOU KNOW IT SHOWS 90MPH SO YOU SLOW DOWN 65 AGAIN AND REALIZE THAT EVERYONE FLIES BY. THE BEST I CAN FIGURE IS IT WILL SUDDENLY SHOW A DIFFERENT SPEED THAN ONE IS ACTUALLY GOING FROM 20MPH LESS TO 40MPH MORE. DIFFERENT EVERY TIME. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. CAUSING INCREASED RISK OF RUNNING OUT OF GAS. *TR
FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING CORRECT RAN OUT OF GAS. *TR
MY 2005 GMC ENVOY GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO BECOME ERRATIC IN NOVEMBER OF 09. AT THAT TIME IT WOULD WORK SOME TIMES AND NOT OTHERS. AFTER A FEW WEEKS IT STOPPED WORKING IN ANY MANNER AND CONSTANTLY FLUCTUATES UP AND DOWN, CAUSING THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR TO GO ON AND OFF. THIS OCCURS EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS JUST BEEN FILLED WITH GAS AND THE GAS CAP TIGHTENED. THE ONLY WAY TO MONITOR GAS AT THIS TIME IS THROUGH TRACKING MILEAGE. VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY STALL WHEN IDLE. THE STALLING IS NOTED TO BE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY THE LONGER THIS GOES UNREPAIRED. STALLING AT LIGHTS, IN PARKING LOTS AND WHILE BACKING UP PUTS US AT RISK OF BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. ALSO THE INABILITY TO ACCURATELY MONITOR THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE PUTS MYSELF AND MY FAMILY AT RISK OF BEING STRANDED WHILE TRAVELING. THE ONLY OTHER PERSON I KNOW WITH THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. CORRECTION IS REPLACEMENT OF THE PART WHICH IS BETWEEN $600 AND $800. *TW
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AN EMPTY READING WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE SENSOR IN THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT BACK TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I THOUGHT MY VEHICLE HAD A UNIQUE PROBLEM, AFTER RECENTLY BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BY GMC + THEIR DEALER, I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND REALIZE THE PROBLEM IS WIDESPREAD. THE ELECTRONIC GAS GAUGE + NEEDLE STOPPED WORKING AT 90 000. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THEY WOULD PAY FOR HALF THE REPAIR TO THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED ON 10/20/11.WAITED ALL DAY AND WATCHED THE MECHANIC TEST DRIVE MY VEHICLE,I WAS WALKED TO THE CASHIER + PAID 146.14, PULLED OUT OF PARKING LOT AND THOUGHT THEY FORGOT TO RESET THE COMPUTER AS GAUGE + DASH WERE NOT WORKING.I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED AND WAS TOLD THE SENSOR WAS WORKING BUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUSTER PANEL + THAT WOULD COST 900.00.THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AND GMC SHOULD OWN UP TO THE DEFECT AND RECALL THE VEHICLES AFFECTED. I'VE RUN OUT OF GAS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, ONCE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SMALL CHILDREN AT NIGHT. *TR
SAME PROBLEM EVERYBODY ELSE IS HAVING WITH THERE ENVOYS, FLOATING FUEL NEEDLE, NOW MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON WHICH OCCASIONALLY WILL GO OFF, BUT NOW I CAN'T PASS EMISSION INSPECTION BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE HAPPENS TO BE ON, AND NOW I AM FORCED TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED IN ORDER TO PASS INSPECTION. THANKS GM, JUST WHAT I NEED A WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS. ONLY 60,00 MILES ON CAR AND I HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS. COULD POSSIBLY BE LAST GM CAR BOUGHT IN THIS HOUSE. *TR
INSTRUMENT PANEL FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR SHOWS INCORRECTLY. AT FIRST IT WOULD SHOW HALF TANK OR MORE WHEN IN FACT THERE WAS LESS GAS. NOW THE FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR SHOWS EMPTY AT ALL TIMES. THE AUDIBLE FUEL WARNING FOR LOW FUEL ALSO RINGS CONSTANTLY. AFTER RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE REPAIR WAS TOO COSTLY. WE WERE HOWEVER CHARGED A $100 FEE JUST FOR THE GMC DEALER TO LOOK AT IT. WE NOW TRACK FUEL USING THE TRIP COMPUTER. LOOK ONLINE FOR SOME HELP I WAS AMAZED TO FIND OUT THAT MANY, MANY, MANY PEOPLE HAVE AND ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
2005 GMC ENVOY WOULD NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION AFTER 3RD YEAR; FUEL METER NO LONGER WORKS. DEALER WANTED $400 TO REPAIR. DEALER WANTED $1600 TO REPLACE AIR INJECTION UNIT AND FUEL SENSOR AND THERMOMETER SO CAR COULD PASS INSPECTION. I HAD ALL THE ITEMS REPAIRED AND ENGINE LIGHT STILL COMES ON. IT HAS APPROX 60K MILES. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO REPAIR AIR INJECTION UNIT STATING IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN I PURCHASED CAR IT CAME WITH 100K WARRANTY FOR DRIVE TRANE. AFTER TAKING TO CERTIFIED GM MECHANIC WHO FIXED EVERYTHING ON LIST THE CAR STILL WILL NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE THE AIR INJECTION UNIT CONTINUES TO TAKE ON WATER. THIS CAR IS A LEMON AND GM SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. I CANNOT AFFORD TO GET IT REPAIRED THEREFORE, I AM SUBJECT TO GET A TICKET. I STILL OWE MONEY AND CANNOT TRADE IT IN. HOW MUCH LONGER ARE AMERICAN MADE CAR MANUFACTURERS GOING TO SCREW THE AMERICAN PEOPLE!!!??? I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER AMERICAN MADE CAR AS LONG AS I LIVE!!! I HAVE NOT EVEN MENTIONED THE FACT THAT THE CAR LOSS COMPLETE POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT 60 MILES/HOUR ON THE TRNPK. EVERYTHING SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. I COULD NOT STEER. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO CURVES AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO SIDE OF ROAD AS THE CAR SLOWLY CAME TO A HALT! THERE MUST BE A LAW AGAINST THIS!!! WHAT RECOURSE DO I (WE) HAVE???? *TR

I JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE KNOWING THE GAUGE DID NOT WORK. THE INFO I HAVE POSTED IS INFO FROM THE INDIVIDUAL I PURCHASED IT FROM. HE JUST SET THE FUEL USED OPTION TO KEEP TRACK. *TR
THE WIPERS WERE THE FIRST TO GO. THAT NEEDED A CONTROL MODULE. THE TOUCH PADS FOR THE TAIL GATE WERE NEXT. FIRST THE DROP DOWN THEN THE SWING. THEN THE RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER DOOR INSIDE HANDLE STOPPED WORKING. THEN THE LEFT SIDE REAR DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE DOESN'T WORK. THEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE DOESN'T WORK. THEN THE FUEL GAUGE DOESN'T WORK. NOW THE PASSENGER'S WINDOW DOESN'T OPEN. 5TH SPEED ON THE HEATER STOPPED WORKING. WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH GMC? THAT IS A HIGH END VEHICLE AND AS SUCH SHOULD NOT BE PLAGUED WITH SUCH PROBLEMS. *KB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FUEL GAUGE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS SPECIFIC FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
FUEL SENSOR NO LONGER WORKS ON VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THIS DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE PER SE, ITS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE VEHICLE THAT GMC HAS RECOGNIZED HOWEVER THEY CONTINUE TO PUT STIPULATIONS AROUND VEHICLES THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO FIX. FOR EXAMPLE, THE VEHICLE MUST BE UNDER 10YRS OF AGE OR UNDER 120,000 MILES WHICHEVER COMES FIRST. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I THINK THAT GMC SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS KNOWN PROBLEM REGARDING OF HOW MANY MILES OR YEARS OF AGE IS ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE STOPPED WORKING AND SHOWS THAT THE VEHICLE IS ON EMPTY. THE "LOW FUEL' INDICATOR ON THE DASH WILL BLINK RANDOMLY AND "DING" TO DRAW MY ATTENTION TO IT. THE GAS CAP WAS REPLACED A WEEK LATER BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. IT CONTINUES TO READ "EMPTY." SINCE THEN THE SPEEDOMETER HAS ALSO STOPPED WORKING. THE SPEEDOMETER HAND HAS COMPLETELY DROPPED BELOW THE 120 MPH MARK, ALTHOUGH FOR A FEW WEEKS IT WOULD REGISTER THAT I WAS DRIVING MUCH FASTER THAN THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC AROUND ME. WHEN I FILL UP MY 2005 GMC ENVOY WITH GAS THE FUEL GAUGE STAYS ON E, SOMETIMES IT WILL EVENTUALLY GO UP TO 1/4 TANK BUT ALWAYS DROPS BACK DOWN. THIS CREATES A PROBLEM BECAUSE I NEVER REALLY KNOW WHEN MY TANK IS EMPTY, ALWAYS GUESSING ON WHEN I NEED TO FILL UP. IN REFERENCE TO DP10-001. I HAVE A 2005 GMC ENVOY THAT HAS AN ERRATIC GAS GAUGE AS WELL. AFTER RE-FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAUGE WILL GO TO EMPTY AND ILLUMINATE THE EMPTY TANK WARNING LIGHT. AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 20 MILES, THE GAUGE WILL RETURN TO THE FULL POSITION, BUT WILL FLUCTUATE OCCASIONALLY. OCCURS AFTER ABOUT A FEW MINUTES OF DRIVING AND, AFTER ONLINE AND OFFLINE RESEARCH, IT TURNS OUT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE THESE PROBLEM WITH SOME GMC TRUCKS, ESPECIALLY THE GMC ENVOYS MODELS. AND GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING OR REFUSING TO FIX IT SINCE IT IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFAULT. THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY RECALLS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND THERE ARE EVEN LAWSUITS IN SOME STATES ABOUT THIS. WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT FUEL WAS PRESENT IN THE TANK. IN JULY OF 2009, MY FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING, IT WAS READING EMPTY ALL THE TIME. EVEN AFTER A FILL UP. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE FUEL SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING ANY MORE. THEY WOULD HAVE TO DROP THE FUEL TANK AND REPLACE THE SENSOR. THE DEALER STATED THAT IT WASN'T NECESSARY TO FIX. SO I HAVE BEEN GETTING GAS EVERY 300 MILES. TODAY I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM WAS PUTTING A STRAIN ON MY COMPUTER FOR THE CAR. THE COMPUTER CONTROLS EVERYTHING IN THE CAR. THAT EVENTUALLY I WOULD BE PAYING A LOT MORE IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO THE COMPUTER.
THERE WAS IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES GAVE OUT, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. IT RESEMBLED THE CAR RUNNING OUT OF GAS WITHOUT DOING SO. AFTER I PULLED OFF THE ROAD WITH GREAT DIFFICULTIES, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE GOT STUCK IN IT. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER AFTER THIS OCCURRED AND NEEDED TO BE TOWED. THERE IS NO RELEASE SWITCH WHICH THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER SAID THERE SHOULD BE SO HE COULD GET IT ONTO THE TRUCK, SO THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE DRUG WITH THE WHEELS LOCKED ONTO THE FLATBED AND THEN PUSHED OFF IN THE SAME MANNER. WE PAID TO HAVE IT FIXED AND IT HAS NOW HAPPENED AGAIN 5 MONTHS LATER. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS ONLINE AND IT IS NOT JUST WITH THE GMC ENVOY DENALI IT ALSO INCLUDES THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER AND POSSIBLY OTHER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY GM. THERE WAS ONE PERSON ONLINE THAT SAID THEY KEEP SPARE IGNITION SWITCHES IN THE VEHICLE AND THE TOOLS TO SWAP IT OUT BECAUSE OF HOW FREQUENTLY IT HAPPENS.
