I REQUIRED A JUMP START OF MY BATTERY FOR THE FIRST TIME OF MANY BECAUSE THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT IN MY INSTRUMENT PANEL TO INCLUDE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. ACCORDING TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION "A SHORT IN THE CIRCUIT BOARD COULD LEAD TO A FIRE, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY" POSTED IN THE US NEW REPORTED BY KATIE LABARRE ON AUGUST 20, 2012. GM HAS ANNOUNCED A RECALL OF 250,000 SUV VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS BUT HAS YET TO NOTIFY ANY OF THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES. LAST YEAR I HAD TO DISPUTE THE FAULTY FUEL GAUGE AND NOW THIS. I'VE TRIED CONTACTING GM AND I AM CONSTANTLY BEING GIVEN THE RUN AROUND. GMC 2006 ENVOY XL IS A GARBAGE VEHICLE AND I REGRET THE DAY I EVER PURCHASED IT!!!! *TR
FILLED MY GAS TANK UP AND THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY AFTER FILLING. EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK, IT GOES TO EMPTY AND THEN AFTER DRIVING A BIT THE GAUGE STARTS RE-REGISTERING. I HAVE NO IDEA IF IT IS ACCURATE ANYMORE. EVAPORATOR PURGE SOLENOID HAS ALSO WENT OUT CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. THE LACK OF AN ACCURATE GAS GAUGE IS A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE RECALL THIS VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED A READING OF EMPTY AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FUEL GAUGE HAD SINCE CONSTANTLY DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE FUEL CAP, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE CONTACT RECEIVED A LETTER FROM THE MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I BOUGHT A USED 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI WITH 69,000 MILES IN JUNE 2010, BY JULY I WAS REPLACING THE AIR SHOCKS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ON ABOUT 7/28/2011 ON THE BELTWAY WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 65 I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE APPROACHING A LEFT HAND EXIT WHEN MY CAR STALLED, I HAD RUN OUT OF GAS WITH NO INDICATION. I WAITED OVER AN HOUR FOR SOMEONE TO COME PUT GAS IN MY TRUCK IN ABOUT 100 DEGREE TEMPATURE. I LATER RAN OUT OF GAS ON A BACK ROAD COMING TO MY HOUSE AT NIGHT. AGAIN NO INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON TO LET ME KNOW I WAS LOW ON GAS. NOW THE GAS GAUGE FLOATS BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY CONTIONUSLY. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY SITUATION BOTH TIMES. MY FLASHERS WERE ON THE WHOLE TIME AND I HAD TO CHANGE THE BATTERY. NOW THE AIR WILL NOT COME OUT OF THE VENTS ONLY THE FLOOR AND DEFROST. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE GAS GAUGE, I COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BOTH TIMES. *KB
WELL I HAVE A 2006 ENVOY, THE BATTERY HAND BOUNCES BETWEEN 0-14 VOLTS REPLACED THE BATTERY,HAD THE ALTER NATOR CHECKED AND ITS FINE. I TALKED TO THE GUY AT A GMC DEAL HE SAID ITS THE DASHBOARD SWITCHES.. AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF, HE SAID ITS A SENSOR OR THE DASH PANEL. WHO KNOWS. YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO THRU AL THIS HASSEL. I WANT MINE FIXED....... *TR
ON MAY 10, 2011 THE REAR SPOILER (WITH THIRD BRAKE LIGHT) FLEW OFF THE BACK OF MY 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI XL SHORTLY AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY. LUCKY FOR ME IT WAS CRUSHED BY A PASSING TRACTOR TRAILER INSTEAD OF HITTING SOMEONE'S WINDSHIELD. GMC SAID THAT SINCE MY SUV WAS 6 YEARS OLD AND OVER 100K MILES I "SHOULD EXPECT " THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS. ON JULY 24, 2011 SHORTLY AFTER ENTERING THE HIGHWAY THE ENTIRE LIFTGATE WINDOW PULLED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE. I AM ABOUT TO OPEN ANOTHER COMPLAINT WITH GMC, BUT EXPECT LITTLE HELP FROM THEM. APPARENTLY THE WINDOW AND SPOILER ARE BOTH ATTACHED WITH DOUBLE SIDED TAPE ON THIS MODEL YEAR.A DEFINITE DESIGN FLAW. IT IN MY OPINION IS A HAZARD TO ANYONE DRIVING BEHIND ONE OF THESE VEHICLES AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND THE WINDOWS AND SPOILERS "BOLTED" INTO PLACE. *TR
I AM THE OWNER OF THE GMC ENVOY DENALI, 2006 MODEL VEHICLE. THE GAS TANK SENSOR AFTER A FILLUP BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. SPECIFICALLY, THE TANK WAS FILLED, HOWEVER, THE GAS TANK FILL INDICATOR REMAINED ON EMPTY. THE FAILURE OF THE SENSOR HAS CAUSED THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT TO COME ON AND REMAIN ON. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 GMAC ENVOY - 49,000 MILES - ONE MONTH AGO THE GAS GAUGE STARTED MOVING ON IT'S OWN, I WOULD FILL UP AND WILL SHOW FULL AS I AM DRIVING IT WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO EMPTY AND THEN SLOWLY MOVE TO FULL AND THEN BACK TO 1/2 TANK AND THE EMPTY WHICH MAKES THE LIGHT AND BELL COME ON. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT WILL THEN GO BACK TO FULL OR STAY ON EMPTY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD I NEVER KNOW IF I AM RUNNING LOW ON GAS AND WILL BE STANDARD IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR IS IT ABOUT TO STALL OUT WHICH COULD CAUSE A WRECK. *TR
FUEL SENSOR FAILURE IN THE GAS TANK. CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO READ EMPTY WHEN FULL, CAUSING THE SUV TO STALL WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ONE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD DISPLAY AN INACCURATE READING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE FUEL GAUGE SENOR. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO THE FUEL GAUGE, AFTER FILLING THE TANK, WOULD READ EMPTY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THEN THE GAUGE WOULD READ FULL, THEN IT WOULD GO BACK TO EMPTY. THIS WOULD CONTINUE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME AND EVENTUALLY THE CORRECT (I ASSUMED) LEVEL WOULD BE SHOWN UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. AS TIME HAS PASSED, IT TAKES LONGER FOR THE GAUGE TO FINALLY SETTLE DOWN AND READ NORMALLY. I HAVE NOW RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC STATING THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WILL PAY FOR HALF THE REPAIR COST. MY QUESTION IS THAT IF THIS IS A PREMATURE FAILURE, AS THE LETTER STATES, WHY GMC IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR 100% OF THE COST. THE LETTER ALSO STATES THAT THE FUEL LEVEL SHOWN MAY READ MORE THAN THE ACTUAL LEVEL. COULD LEAD TO RUNNING OUT OF FUEL ON THE INTERSTATE, GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD, AND/OR INJECTOR DAMAGE. *TR
FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY ON MY VEHICLE. IT STAYS ON "E" WHEN THERE IS PLENTY OF GASOLINE IN THE CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS THAT I HAVE SEEN ON WEBSITES. OCCASIONALLY THE GAUGE WILL MOVE UP BUT THEN GO BACK TO "E". I WENT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT IS A BAD FUEL SENOR GAUGE WHICH IS IN THE GASOLINE TANK. SEEMS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE OTHER PROBLEMS. THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN LIKE THAT FOR OVER 6 MONTHS, AS THE COST WAS ASTRONOMICAL AND I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. ADDITIONALLY, RECENTLY MY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE HAS SHOWN THE MAX AMOUNT AND THEN LAST NIGHT IT WENT DOWN TO THE LOWEST AMOUNT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. IT GOES BACK AND FORTH FROM HIGH TO LOW AND THE OIL PRESSURE LOW LIGHT COMES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THEN GOES OFF. IT SAYS TO STOP ENGINE. THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE ANYTHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH MY ENGINE AND I WILL BE TAKING IT TO THE DEALER TOMORROW TO CONFIRM THAT. I BELIEVE BOTH OF THESE ISSUES ARE CAUSED BY A FAULTY INSTRUMENT PANEL OR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM INCLUDED IN GM'S MODELS. I HAVE A FAMILY MEMBER WITH AN OLDER GMC SUV WITH SIMILAR ISSUES AND THEY ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH A GMC TRUCK THEY USED TO HAVE BUT GOT RID OF IT, DUE TO THE MALFUNCTIONS. SEEMS LIKE A VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BY GE. *TR
2006 GMC ENVOY FUEL GAUGE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. *TR
REAR AIR SHOCKS THAT BLED DOWN AFTER SITTING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. TOOK TO DEALER FOR EVALUATION AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR SHOCKS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT NORMALLY THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS REPLACED ALSO BECAUSE IT IS THE CAUSE OF THE LEAKING. I DECIDED COST WAS TOO GREAT SO I CHOSE TO ADD SPRINGS IN PLACE OF REAR AIR SHOCKS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR WOULD CONTINUE TO FUNCTION. NOW THE AIR COMPRESSOR DOES NOT WORK, TOOK BACK TO DEALER TO FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND WAS INFORMED THAT ONCE THE REAR AIR SHOCKS ARE REMOVED THE AIR COMPRESSOR IS DISABLED. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING INDICATORS BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION IN THE SPEED RATE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED REPEATEDLY WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING AND RESTARTED AFTER WAITING A FEW MOMENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES. THE ECM WAS REPROGRAMMED AND THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL REPAIRS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE CONSTANT MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE, THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 GMC ENVOY BEGAN FLUCTUATING WILDLY. IT FIRST HAPPENED AFTER I FILLED UP WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS- THE GAUGE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO EMPTY AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. EVER SINCE, THE GAUGE DOES NOT GIVE ACCURATE FUEL READINGS- IT WILL READ FULL WHEN EMPTY, EMPTY WHEN FULL, AND THE NEEDLE WILL SPIKE ALL OVER THE PLACE.. I CONSIDER IT TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN- RUNNING OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF HEAVY TRAFFIC CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS. WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY FUEL SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK AND WOULD COST $700 TO REPLACE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE ESCAPING FROM THE AIR CONDITIONER UNIT. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE, LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE RESISTER AND MOTOR WIRES WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD GO FROM EMPTY TO FULL, THEN BACK DOWN TO HALF A TANK. IT DID THAT FOR A MONTH OR SO EVEN AFTER WE WOULD FILL IT UP. NOW IT JUST STAYS ON EMPTY WITH THE FUEL LIGHT AND ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAD THE DIAGNOSTICS RAN ON IT AND IT WAS THE FUEL SENSING UNIT. NOW MORE RECENTLY IT WILL JUST DIE AND STALL OUT WHILE DRIVING. ITS DONE THAT TWICE NOW IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS, ONCE WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR WITH MY WIFE, LUCKILY THEY WERE CLOSE TO A SAFE AREA TO COAST INTO. I KNOW THAT THE TANK HAD GAS IN IT, WE RESET THE TRIP EVERYTIME WE FILL UP AND THAT'S ALL WE DO SO WE CAN HAVE AN ACCURATE READING, WE USUALLY GO AROUND 360 MILES BEFORE WE FILL UP AGAIN. THE FIRST STALL WE HAVE ONLY GONE AROUND 230 MILES. SO GAS WAS IN THE TANK. WE HAVE NOT DONE ANYTHING TO REPLACE IT YET FOR FINANCIAL REASONS, BUT AS IT KEEPS STALLING WE MAY NEED TO DO SOMETHING SOON, ITS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I'VE HAD IT ESTIMATED AT $750. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. THE CONTACT WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE STALLED DUE TO THE LACK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, HE WAS UNAWARE OF THE LACK OF FUEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WAS PROVIDING INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS AND THE CONTACT WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE THROUGH A DIAGNOSIS BY THE ON-STAR SYSTEM. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS REGARDING THE FUEL GAUGE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,450.
1) WIFE AND CHILD STRANDED ON HIGHWAY BETWEEN IN SUMMER HEAT. STRANDED AGAIN NORTH OF DALLAS. 2) FUEL SENSOR FAILURE 3) WILL HAVE TO REPLACE FUEL SENSOR ($500+) FIX. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC ENVOY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE DISPLAYED AN INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READING. THE VEHICLE THEN SUDDENLY STALLED DUE TO THE LACK OF FUEL PRESENT IN THE FUEL TANK. THE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE DISPENSED THE REQUIRED FUEL INTO THE FUEL TANK AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER DP10001 WHICH CLOSED AND A PRELIMINARY EVALUATION HAD BEEN OPENED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE WAS 81,000.
AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK THE GAS SENSOR LIGHT COMES ON AND SHOWS THAT I HAVE NO GAS AT ALL. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE GAS LEVEL INDICATOR MOVES BACK AND FORTH GIVING INACCURATE AND RANDOM READINGS WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I CAN'T ACTUALLY TELL HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE TANK. I WIND UP HAVING TO FILL THE TANK EVERYDAY TO KNOW THAT THERE'S A FULL TANK. *TR

WHILE DRIVING OUR 2006 GMC ENVOY DENALI ON A PAVED ROAD IN THE MORNING OF MAY 29TH, THE READ WINDOW EXPLODED IN TINY PIECES. NO ONE WAS LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME AND NO VEHICLES WERE ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME. THE MORNING TEMP. WAS AROUND 35 DEGREES. SIMILAR INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED OF THE REAR WINDOW EXPLODING. *TR
THE GAS GAUGE ON MY 2006 GMC ENVOY ALWAYS REGISTERS AT "E." I HAVE TALKED TO GMC AND THERE IS NO HELP WITH THIS SITUATION THOUGH THERE HAVE BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME THING. WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY WERE RUDE TO ME AND DIDN'T GIVE ME A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT NUMBER. I AM HAVING TO GAGE MY GAS BY KEEPING TRACK OF THE MILEAGE THROUGH THE TRIP-OMETER. I HAVE A 2006 GMC ENVOY AND I NOTICED WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK THE GAUGE SHOWS THAT I'M COMPLETELY EMPTY AND MY ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON. MY ALARM FOR LOW FUEL KEEPS GOING OFF. I HAD A CRASH AT 45 MPH INTO A LARGE TREE $9000+ DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF MY CAR AND THE AIRBAG NEVER WENT OFF. ONSTAR WAS CALLED AND HELPED ME.
WHEN I FILLED UP GAS TANK, THE GAS GAUGE WAS READING COMPLETELY EMPTY, THE LOW FUEL ALARM WAS SOUNDING AND MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY STALLED IN TRAFFIC BECAUSE OF THIS. ONCE I USED APPROX 2 GALLONS OF GAS, THE GAUGE WOULD REPEATEDLY GO UP AND DOWN. IF IT WAS STUCK AT EMPTY, THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFICULT TO START. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ON THE WEB AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND DANGEROUS ONE. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS

A COUPLE MONTHS AGO MY GAS GAUGE STARTED TO ACT UP. IT WAS NOT REGISTERING THE AMOUNT OF GAS IN MY FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.

I HEARD ON THE NEWS THAT NHTSA WAS LOOKING INTO THE GM SUV'S HAVING GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS 2 DAYS AFTER I FIRST STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS. GOOD TIMING. I TOOK MY CAR TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND THEY SAID IT IS A BAD SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK. THEY CHARGED ME $90 JUST TO DO THE DIAGNOSTIC ON THE PROBLEM AND IT WOULD COST $600 TO REPLACE THE SENSOR BECAUSE THEY WOULD HAVE TO PULL THE GAS TANK OFF THE CAR. I DECLINED TO HAVE IT REPAIR. NOW I HAVE TO DRIVE A CAR THAT IS CLOSE TO EMPTY ALL THE TIME AND HAVE TO RELY ON THE MILEAGE TO DETERMINE WHEN I WILL RUN OUR OF GAS. ALSO,THE DIC (DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER) AUDIBLE WARNING BELL GOES "DING, DING, DING, DING" EVERY SO OFTEN WHILE DRIVING TO WARN US WE ARE ALMOST OUT OF FUEL, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT. SINCE THE COST IS OVER $600 AND STILL WOULD HAVE COST US $540 TO FIX SO WE DECLINED. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING THE CAR A FEW WEEKS AGO IN COLUMBUS OH AND AS SHE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON TO A FREEWAY ENTRANCE RAMP AND THE CAR TURNED OFF BECAUSE IT RAN OUT OF FUEL. HER AND OUR 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE ABLE TO COAST OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT WERE FORCED TO SIT ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY ON A NARROW SHOULDER WITH CARS FLYING PAST TILL HELP ARRIVED. I HAVE A 2006 GMC ENVOY WHICH HAS A FAULTY GAS GAUGE. WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THE GAS GAUGE SHOWS THE TANK AS BEING "EMPTY" WITH THE ORANGE LIGHT ON INDICATING AN EMPTY TANK. AS SOME FUEL BURNS OFF THE TOP (AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20-25 MILES), THE GAS GAUGE THEN MOVES TO THE "FULL' END OF THE GAUGE. WHILE DRIVING, THE GAS GAUGE CONTINUOUSLY SHOWS THAT IT HAS MORE FUEL IN THE TANK THAN IT ACTUALLY DOES. BECAUSE I WAS CONCERNED THAT THE GAS GAUGE WAS INACCURATE AND WOULD RESULT IN RUNNING OUT OF GAS, I STARTED RESETTING MY ODOMETER AND TRACKING MILEAGE AFTER EACH FILL UP. BASED ON THE MILEAGE TRACKED THUS FAR, I ESTIMATE THE GAS GAUGE TO SHOW THAT IT HAS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 ' 1/3 MORE GAS THAN WHAT IS IN THE TANK. *TR

LAST YEAR MY 2006 GMC ENVOY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I HAD TO QUICKLY MOVE OUT OF THE WAY OF TRAFFIC TO AVOID A CAR ACCIDENT. GMC ALSO TOOK MY MONEY FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. RECENTLY,04/17/12, I FILLED MY GAS TANK UP AND THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY AFTER FILLING. EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK, IT GOES TO EMPTY AND THEN AFTER DRIVING A BIT THE GAUGE STARTS RE-REGISTERING, 52,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE NOW. NOW I BELIEVE THESE TWO INCIDENTS ARE RELATED AND GMC IS NOT BEING COOPERATIVE: TO FIX AT NO COST A REPAIR THAT INVOLVES HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF THEIR VEHICLES.
