VEHICLE STALLS AND SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND IDLE. SOMETIMES IT STARTS BACK UP IMMEDIATELY, OTHER TIMES IT WILL JUST CRANK OVER BUT WILL NOT START. AFTER LETTING IT SIT SOMETIMES 5 TO 20 MINUTES AT A TIME IT WILL THEN START BACK UP. ALL RESEARCH AND ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE INDICATE A MANUFACTURER RECALL OF A CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WILL STALL OR SHUT OFF AT RANDOM WHETHER IT'S IN MOTION DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION OR AT A STOP SIGN . I HAVE ALMOST BEEN T-BONES DUE TO THE VEHICLE STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AND I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE MY DRIVERS MIRROR DUE TO THE VEHICLE STALLING ON THE INTERSTATE AND NEARLY BEING HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. *TR
WAS ABOUT TO GO SHOPPING FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS, STEPPED ON BRAKE AT TOP OF COURT AND THE PEDDLE WENT TO FLOOR. NOT JUST LOSS OF HYDROS FULL ON BRAKE MALFUNCTION , NO BRAKES AT ALL. I LIVE IN NEW YORK AND TRUCK WAS PURCHASED FROM CONNECTICUT. DECIDED TO MAKE LEFT TURN AND MISSED GETTING HIT BY 18 WHEELER BY INCHES. I AM LUCKY TO BE ALIVE TO BE TYPING THIS NOW, NO THANKS TO GM. NO WARNING LIGHTS NOTHING AT ALL JUST NO BRAKES. TO ADD EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT WORK. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING CLOSE TO MY HOME AND WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN ON A COUNTRY ROAD. I WENT TO APPLY MY BRAKES WITH NO RESULT. THE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO LOW GEAR AND FINALLY MADE IT HOME. I HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TRANSPORTED TO A SHOP FOR REPAIRS. THE COST TO FIX THE BRAKES LINES, MASTER CYLINDER - $1000. NOT HAPPY WITH GMC AND WILL PROBABLY NEVER BUY ANOTHER AMERICAN MADE VEHICLE. I ALSO HAVE A CHEVY TAHOE AND I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THAT VEHICLE AS WELL. *TR
IT STARTED WITH THE FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATING BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY WITH A FULL TANK OF GAS AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT ON DASH LIGHTING UP FOR APPARENTLY NO REASON. THEN IT STARTED GIVING ME TROUBLE STARTING AND MAKING A WEIRD WHINING NOISE. I CHECKED ALL THE FLUID LEVELS AND FUSES, EVERYTHING WAS OK. I WAS AT THE CAMP(MIDDLE OF NOWHERE) AT NIGHT WHEN I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE SPARKS COMING FROM AROUND THE AREA OF THE STARTER WHEN MY HUSBAND TRIED TO START IT.(IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE DARK AND I WAS SITTING WITH A VIEW OF THE RIGHT WHEEL WELL) I CHECKED THE WIRES AND FOUND WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A BREAK IN THE INSULATION, TAPED IT AND THE SPARKS QUIT. HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT HOME THE NEXT DAY AS THERE WAS NO PHONE SERVICE. STARTED RIGHT UP , AND DROVE FINE, EXCEPT FOR THE LOW WHINNY NOISE THAT NO ONE COULD PINPOINT. I WAS ALMOST HOME WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP. I BROUGHT IT TO OUR MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION BUT NONE OF US CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THE DEVIL IS CAUSING THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. BEFORE THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT THE TOW/ HAUL BUTTON DIDN'T DO ANY THING, NOW THE LIGHT ACTUALLY COMES ON-WHEN IT FEELS LIKE IT,BUT I CAN'T GET IT TO GO OFF. THE GAS GAUGE IS STILL ACTING NUTS AND THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT STILL COME AND GO. PLEASE POST INSTRUCTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING THIS THING! *TR
I OWN A 2001 GMC SIERRA. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I PUT MY TRUCK IN 4 LOW ON MY 4X4 (MANUAL SHIFT),AND I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE, YOU CAN FEEL THE TORQUE. WHEN I GO AND PUT THE TRUCK INTO PARK IT STARTS TO GRIND WHILE ENGAGING IN THE PARK POSITION. I BROUGHT IT TO A GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS NORMAL FOR THE TRANSFER CASE TO DO THIS. IF YOU ASK ME, IF THERE IS GRINDING NOISES ON MOVING PARTS, SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT OR "NORMAL". *NM
WE HAVE A 2001 GMC CREW CAB THAT WE HAVE HAD FOR 26 MONTHS. BE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW SO WE WOULD BE LESS LIKELY TO HAVE PROBLEMS. WE HAVE HAD 3 NEW TRANSMISSIONS (NOT INCLUDING THE FACTORY ONE). IT IS IN THE REPAIR SHOP AGAIN BECAUSE WHEN YOU PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE IT DIES. NOT EVERY TIME BUT IT HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN. IT WAS IN THE SHOP BEFORE FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WHICH RESULTED IN 1 OF THE 3 NEW TRANSMISSIONS. LETS HOPE IT DOESN'T NEED ANOTHER ONE. THIS IS GETTING OLD!!!!!!!!!!!
DT: THE CONTACT WA SHAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PUSH BUTTON MODULE THAT ENGAGES THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE IS GETTING STUCK BETWEEN TWO WHEEL AND FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. HE HAS TALKED TO GM, AND VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER A RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR THREE YEARS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR ANY REPAIRS. *AK
CONSUMER STATES WHEN APPLYING BRAKES, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO A LOW GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT, THE BACK TIRES LOCKED UP AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOCK UP AND FISHTAIL*AK.*SLC
ENGINE USES TO MUCH OIL, KNOCKS, SMOKES BODY- TRUCK BED SIDES ARE RIPPELING BECAUSE THE METAL IS TO THIN,& CAN NOT HANDEL THE WEIGHT OF A LUMBER RACK, FRONT BUMPER IS DENTED ON BOTH SIDES BUT IN DIFFERANT PLACES, WAS LIKE THIS AT DELIVERY, ALL THE TRUCKS WERE LIKE THIS BUT ALL OF THEM IN DIFFERANT PLACES.MANUFACTURE DEFECT EXHAUST- LOOSE PARTS INSIDE OF MUFFLER, EXHAUST RATTELS FROM MOUNTING HARDWARE, MUFFLER RETAINS WATER AND LEAKS AT THE SEAMS. PAINT-RUST ON THE TOP OF CAB SEATBELT- DRIVER SIDE BELT WILL NOT RECOIL,BROKEN SEAT BELT BRACKET.(THIS IS A SAFTY ISSUE) TIRES-BELOW 1/32 TREAD LEFT AT 23,000 MILES(THIS IS ALSO A SAFTY ISSUE) TRANSMISSION-MAKES A CLUNCKING NOISE AT LOW SPEEDS,TAKES A LONG TIME TO SHIFT WHEN RUNNING THE A/C ALSO MAKES A HOWLING NOISE,TRANSMISSION SLIPS.
THERE WAS A LARGE "BOOMING" NOISE COMING FROM VEHICLE EVERYTIME CONSUMER DROVE IT. THIS NOISE OCCURRED WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOPPED POSITION. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND THEY GREASED DIFFERENTIAL. HE WAS TOLD THIS WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CONSUMER STILL EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THEY COULD DO. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS. *AK
TRANSMISSION SURGES AT ALL SPEEDS. INTERMITTENT. DEAL STATES COULD NOT REPRODUCE PROBLEM. TRANSMISSION HAS SLIPPED INTO GEAR WHILE TAKING OFF FROM A STOPLIGHT. RPM'S WENT UP TO 2000 BEFORE ENGAGING GEAR.*AK
