A NEIGHBOR AND I WERE TRYING TO OFF LOAD A LARGE ROCK 500 (LBS) FROM MY TRUCK WHEN WE GOT IT TO THE TAILGATE THE TAILGATE BENT, THEN THE SUPPORT STRAP ON THE DRIVERS SIDE BROKE SENDING MY NEIGHBOR AND I AND THE ROCK TO THE GROUND. ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATED BY THEMSELVES AT LOW SPEEDS. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES THEY PULSATED AND CHATTERED. AT LOW SPEED CONSUMER'S VEHICLE COLLIDED WITH THE BACK DOOR OF THE GARAGE DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. *AK SENSORS WERE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP. *LA
THE TAIL GATE CABLE SNAPPED IN HALF WHEN THE PASSENGER WAS EXITING THE BACK OF THE PICK UP. THE PASSENGER HIT HIS/HER HEAD ON THE DRIVEWAY. THE CAUSE OF THE CABLE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. *JB CONSUMER NOTED BOTH CABLES SNAPPED SENDING HIS ASSISTANT FACE FIRST TO THE GROUND. HIS KNEES WERE FIRST TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE CONCRETE AND HE LAID THERE SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE TRYING TO MOVE. *PH *JB
FRONT STEERING TIE RODS FOLDED IN HALF ON TWO OCCASSIONS WHILE CLIMBING A HILL OFF ROAD. ALL STEERING WAS LOST MID WAY UP THE HILL, WITH NO WAY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS COVERED UNDER MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. I AM AFFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. IT IS IN THE SHOP AS WE SPEAK FOR THE SECOND TIME.
I HAD TO PURCHASE FOUR NEW TIRES FOR MY 2002 GMC SIERRA ON 10/2/03. FIRESTONE IN MARTINSBURG, WV ADVISED ME THAT MY TRUCK TIRES THAT GM PLACED ON THE TRUCK THAT WAS ORDERED NEW WERE NOT SUITABLE FOR THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRES WERE VERY WEAK. I AM CONCERNED THAT THERE ARE OTHER TRUCKS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WENT TO THE DEALER WHO WILL NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS ISSUE. I SINCERELY HOPE THERE HAVE NOT BEEN ANY ACCIDENTS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. CAN YOU INVESTIGATE AND MAKE SURE THE PROBLEM IS RESOLVED IF THIS IS NOT JUST AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. *LA *TR
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH REAR RIGHT TIRE BLEW OUT. CONSUMER MANAGED TO PULL VEHICLE OVER, AND STOPPED TO CHECK THE TIRE. NOTICED THAT TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. BRIDGESTONE TIRE, SIZE 285/75R16. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITHOUT WARNING ENGINE WOULD STALL, CAUSING CONSUMER TO PULL OVER. DEALER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED.*AK
1. LOSS OF BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS, WHICH CAUSED ME TO BACK INTO A DITCH WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. IT FEELS LIKE THE ABS IS KICKING IN, BUT YOU LOOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE BRAKES. 2. HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES -- PADS AND ROTORS TWICE AT MY OWN EXPENSE IN 46,000 MILES. *JB
I HAVE CARLISLE SURE TRAIL ST TIRES, SIZE ST 205/75D15, ON MY 2003 BIG TEX 60CH TRAILER. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AND A LIGHT LOAD ON THE TRAILER. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE TIRES THAT WERE INSTALLE ON THIS TRAILER AT TIME OF PURCHASE, I HAVE REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES, DUE TO THE ONE BLOWOUT, AND VERY SEVERE CROWNING IN THE CENTER OF THE TREAD AT THE PROPER COLD INFLATION PRESSURE OF 35PSI, THIS CROWNING OF THE TREAD ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE AN OVER-INFLATED TIRE, WHEN IN FACT IT IS PROBEBLY A SEPARATION INSIDE THE TIRE. THE DOT NUMBERS ARE AS FOLLOWS: UUUL SCB0103 UUUL SCB0103 UUUL SCB0103 8LUL 0703 THE ODD NUMBERED TIRE IS THE TIRE THAT BLEW OUT AND HAD PRINTED IN THE BEAD AREA THAT IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN TRINIDAD. BY THE TIME I COULD GET THE TRAILER OFF THE FREEWAY THE BLOW-OUT WAS SMOKING.*AK
DIESEL ENGINE QUIT AND IT WAS ONLY EQUIPPED WITH ONE FUSE, AND THE FUSE BLEW. THIS RESULTED IN LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. *AK. THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND WHEN THAT FAILED IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE NO BRAKES. *JB
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DIDN'T HOLD THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *AK THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, PER GM, THAT THE TRUCKS WITH DISC BRAKES NEEDED THE PARKING BRAKES ADJUSTED AT 15K MILES AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. *SCC *NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE WENT AIR BORN AND DID A NOSE DIVE INTO THE GROUND. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK
THE ENGINE IS NO GOOD, THEY SAY THAT THE KNOCKING AT TICKING IS OK, GM HAS PUT OUT A NOTICE INDICATING THAT THIS IS WITHIN ACCEPTABLE LIMITS. IF YOU HEARD MY TRUCK RUN YOU WOULD THINK IT WAS ABOUT TO FAIL!
THIS COMPLAINT IS REGARDING NHTSA ID # 05V161000 AND GM RECALL # 05042. THE ABOVE IS FOR A DEFECT IN THE PARKING BRAKE WHICH CAUSES PREMATURE WEAR. THE RECALL ONLY APPLIES TO MANUAL SHIFT TRANSMISSIONS. I HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT HAVE AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I BELIEVE THIS RECALL SHOULD ALSO APPLY TO MY VEHICLE SINCE A PARKING BRAKE IS ALSO INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE AND IT IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. IF A PARKING BRAKE IS NOT NEEDED ON MY VEHICLE FOR SAFETY THAN WHY IS ONE INSTALLED? *JB
THE BRAKE LINE FAILED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO EXPERIENCE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *JB THE BRAKE LINE CONTAINED A BEND, WHICH WAS SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING SNAGGED. THE CONSUMER REPAIRED THE BRAKE LINE HIMSELF. *JB
THE REAR BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACED EVERY SEVEN MONTHS. *JB
THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER FELT THAT THE BRAKES HAD A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT DUE TO OPEN DRUMS. *NLM
WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN THE DOUBLE CABIN MADE RATTLING NOISES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM *TS
WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE CONSUMERS FOOT ALSO PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER SMELLED FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BETWEEN 40 OR 45 MPH THE VEHICLE VIBRATED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN BRAKES WERE HOT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH STOPPING. THIS CONDITION OCCURRED SIX TIMES. DEALER CLAIMED THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS VEHICLE.*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION, AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY.*JB
THE VEHICLE STALLED, WHICH MADE IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE.*JB
EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILURE / LEFT REAR ROTOR DAMAGE. *AK
THE BRAKES SQUEAKED WHEN APPLIED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE SHOES AND CLIPS. *JB
EVERY 2000 MILES THE VEHICLE BURNED A QUART OF OIL, THE DEALER STATED IT WAS NORMAL. *JB
REAR BRAKE FULID AND EMERGENCY LINE IS EXPOSED AND EASILY DAMAGED BY ROAD DEBRIS AND/OR RUBBLE. 2WD C1500 TRUCKS HAVE BRAKE LINES AND CABLES DROOPING DOWN BEYOND BELOW REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS AND ARE EASILY SNAGGED BY ROAD TRASH.*JB CAUSING LOSS OF FULID AND BRAKING ABILITY.
UNWANTED ANTILOCK BRAKE ACTIVATION. SAME AS INDICATED ON NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 05V379000. WAS TOLD BY GMC MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF ABOVE RECALL WITH NO REASONABLE EXPLANATION GIVE AS TO WHY. *NM
THE VEHICLE DISPLAYED HESITATION WHEN IDLING AND DRIVING ANY SPEED. *JB
THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCKED UP, AND DID NOT RELEASE WHEN THE SEAT WAS RECLINED. *JB. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 20/35 MPH, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS AS A RESULT OF THE STEERING SHAFT SPLITTING IN HALF. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
CONSUMER STATES THE POWER STEERING PUMP SHAFT TWISTED OFF CAUSING LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND BRAKES WHILE DRIVING. TS
HARD KNOCK OF ENGINE ON STARTUP,WORSE IN COLDER WEATHER, LASTING A COUPLE OF MINUTES. HAVE REPORTED PROBLEM TO MANUFACTURER AND DEALERSHIP WHOM BOTH STATE THIS KNOCK IS NORMAL AND WOULD HAVE NO BEARING ON THE LONGEVITY OR DURABILITY OF THE MOTOR. FIRST NOTICED KNOCK AFTER APPROXIMATELY 3600 MILES AND CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM AT 36,000MILES. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING ABOUT 55MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. DUE TO A MOOSE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER WAS TRYING TO AVOID THE MOOSE AND HIT AND ENBANKMENT. THE DUAL AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION DEALER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
PROBLEM WITH GEARS/TRANSMISSION SINCE PURCHASED
THE 2002 WAS IN NEED OF FRONT HUBS SINCE THEY WERE NOT REPLACED WHEN THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT THE TIME THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WAS REBUILT. THIS CAUSED THE TRUCK TO HAVE EXCESSIVE FRONT WHEEL FRICTION, AND COMPROMISED THE BRAKING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE TRUCK. IT WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE, ESPECIALLY IN SNOW, AND THE FRONT WHEEL FRICTION WOULD VARY BASED ON CHANGES IN SPEED, ROAD CONTOUR, TEMPERATURE, STEERING INPUT, THROTTLE INPUT, AND BRAKE INPUT. WHILE BRAKING THE TRUCK WOULD OFTEN PITCH SEVERELY TO ONE SIDE OR THE OTHER, THE ABS WOULD ACTIVATE ON DRY PAVEMENT. ON ONE OCCASION THE ABS ACTIVATED WHEN MY FOOT WAS OFF THE BRAKE. THE TRUCK WOULD ALSO SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE AT HIGHWAY SPEED AS THE FRICTION VARIED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO ME ONCE FROM CULLIGAN GMC, THE POWER STEERING EFFORT HAD INCREASED GREATLY. THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE REAR LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL HAD BEEN CHANGED. THE TRUCK WAS BACK TO THE DEALER, DAVID CADILLAC, MANY TIMES FOR THE SAME CONCERN WITH THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL. ON ONE OCCASION THE TRUCK WAS RETURNED TO ME GUSHING GEAR LUBE FROM THE FRONT AXLE, ON ANOTHER IT WAS RETURNED TO ME WITH THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL EMPTY. I WAS CHARGED FOR A 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT WHEN ONLY 2 WHEELS CAN BE ALIGNED ON THIS TRUCK. THE WRONG OIL FILTER WAS INSTALLED, THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEN ABUSIVELY BY A DEALER EMPLOYEE (IT WAS RUN BEYOND MECHANICAL LIMITS WHILE COLD AS I STOOD IN THE PARKING LOT), AND WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE ADVISER AFTER THE TRUCK HAD BEEN IN HIS SHOP FOR OVER A WEEK WITHOUT MY HEARING WHAT IT'S STATUS WAS, THE SERVICE PERSON SCREAMED AT ME ON THE PHONE "WHEN IT IS FINISHED I WILL CALL YOU!!!", AND HE SLAMMED THE PHONE DOWN. *NM
PARKING BRAKE ON 2002 GMC FAILED REPEATEDLY. THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. FIRST TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL. SECOND COMPLAINT BRAKES WERE ADJUSTED. THIRD COMPLAINT CAUSE WAS FOUND. THE BRAKE FAILED TO COMPLETELY RELEASE. THE BRAKE WORE OUT PREMATURELY AND OVERHEATED. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR. THE REAR AXLES NEEDED REPLACEMENT DUE TO OVERHEATING/DAMAGE TO SEALS AND BEARINGS. USE OF FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WITH REAR BRAKES LOCKED TRANSFERRED TORQUE TO FRONT STEERING KNUCKLE WHICH REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. A WARPED REAR BRAKE BACKING PLATE HAS BEEN REPLACED DUE TO EXCESSIVE HEAT. THE VEHICLE HAS 70,000 MILES. THE PARKING BRAKES DID NOT WORK AGAIN AND NEED REPAIR WITH THE OUTCOME UNKNOWN.*AK
VEHICLE PULLS TO THE LEFT ALL THE TIMES. HAVE HAD IT SERVICED 8 TIMES AT PURCHASING DEALER, THEY SAY THEY CAN'T FIX IT. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO OFF AT 1:00 POSITION. *JB
EXTERIOR DRIVER SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR HAD TO BE REPLACED 3 TIMES BECAUSE OF SEVERE VIBRATION. THE VIBRATION WAS SO SEVERE THAT THE DRIVER WAS UNABLE TO SEE ONCOMING VEHICLES. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT THE HITCH WAS DRAMATICALLY BENT UPWARDS AND IMMEDIATELY UNHITCHED THE TRAILER. A VISUAL INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE CENTER ROUND TUBE SECTION OF THE HITCH WAS TWISTING AND THE RECEIVER WAS DEFINITLY POINTED UP. CONSUMER HAD TO PURCHASE AN AFTER MARKET HITCH TO MAKE IT TO THE DESTINATION. CONSUMER IS ATTEMPTING TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THE REPLACEMENT HITCH. *JG
CONSUMER STATES WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE PULLS VIOLENTLY TO THE RIGHT. *NLM *DT
GMC SIERRA. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR THE MIRRORS VIBRATING 4 TIMES. I CAN NOT SEE 200 FEET BEHIND MY VEHICLE AT TIMES AS REQUIRED BY CALIFORNIA VC 26709. GMC HAS CALLED IT A SAFETY ISSUE AND BLAMES IT ON THE FOLLOWING IN AN EMAIL I RECEIVED 12/23/03. *JB AFTER MUCH DISCUSSION WITH TECHNICAL SOURCES, WE HAVE COME TO THE FOLLOWING CONCLUSIONS. THE VIBRATION IN YOUR MIRRORS IS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THEREFORE, SWAPPING OUT THE MIRROR WITH ONE OF THE SAME TYPE, WHICH IS THE ONLY TYPE YOUR VEHICLE CAN ACCOMMODATE, WILL NOT SOLVE THAT PROBLEM. I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. *JB

CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 40-60MPH. DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT A DEFECTIVE FRAME FLEX WAS CAUSING VIBRATION AND THERE WAS NO REMEDY.*JB
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A ROUGH VIBRATION WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 20 MPH AND 40 MPH. *JB
A FUEL LEAK UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY DEALERSHIP. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.*AK
WHEN JACKNIFED IN A UTURN THE TRAILER BROKE THE REAR WINDOW WHICH EXPLODED INTO RAZOR SHARP SHARDS OF GLASS CUTTING ME ON THE HAND FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT.*AK
WHEN TRAVELING BETWEEN 40 AND 50 MPH THE PICKUP HAS A VIBRATION THAT HAS BEEN DEEMED "NORMAL" BY THE SERVICE TECH. THIS DETERMINATION WAS BY A FACTORY REP. NOT THE LOCAL REP AS HE WAS UNAWARE OF ANY NOISE AT THIS SPEED IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE. THE TECH. DID HEAR AND FEEL THIS VIBRATION. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE. *JB
AT 40,000 MILES UNIVERSAL JOINTS FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. *AK
