DT*: THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SPEEDS UP ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES MAINLY WHILE DRIVING THROUGH PARKING LOTS. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO BE EVALUATED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE COMPUTER MAY NEED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. *JB
WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET TO 70 MPH THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 90 MPH WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS THROWN INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO SLOW IT DOWN. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB *AK
I STARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER VEHICLE WAS SITTING FOR ABOUT 4 HOURS. WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING, EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT YET PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR. EVEN WITH MY FOOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD, THE VEHICLE STOPPED BRIEFLY, BUT THEN THE REAR TIRES BRIEFLY SPUN AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE AGAIN, DRAGGING THE LOCKED FRONT TIRES. AFTER 25 FEET, VEHICLE HIT PARKED VEHICLE ON OTHER SIDE OF STREET. VEHICLE STOPPED, BUT REAR WHEELS CONTINUED TO SPIN UNTIL I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. IT SEEMED LIKE THROTTLE WAS STUCK OPEN, EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT ONCE HIT THE ACCELERATOR.*AK
WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED THE CONSUMERS FOOT ALSO PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *NLM
