SECOND BRAKE PROBLEM, SECOND OF THREE BRAKE LINE PROBLEMS FROM RUSTY BRAKE LINES AND BRAKE LINE FAILURE WHILE STOPPING AND LOSE OF BRAKES, NEEDING TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. ALL REMAINING BRAKE LINES ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR SAFE DRIVING. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND ARE UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. BRAKE LINES SHOULD NEVER FAIL FROM RUST, PERIOD. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 3500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A LARGE PUDDLE OF UNKNOWN FLUIDS UNDER THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS SEVERELY CORRODED AND CAUSING DIESEL FUEL TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 117,000. UPDATED 02/03/12*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS SINCE BEEN REPAIRED. THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AS WELL. UPDATED 02/08/12
RIGID BRAKE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE ABS MODULE RUSTED THROUGH CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD STALL AND EVENTUALLY SHUT OFF, REGARDLESS OF TYPE OF ROAD, I.E.HIGHWAY OR CITY STREETS, AND REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED. *TR
I OWN A 2004 GMC K1500 WITH ABOUT 70000 MILES ON IT NOW. ON 10/17/11 AT 67410 MILES I WAS DOING A NORMAL OIL CHANGE WITH THE VEHICLE ELEVATED ON A RACK. I NOTICED FLUID DRIPPING ON ME FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS FLOOR AREA. UPON CLOSER INSPECTION I FOUND ALMOST ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES LEADING FROM THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK TO THE ABS UNIT RUSTED BADLY AND LEAKING. AS I WAS MOVING THE VEHICLE FROM THE RACK THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. WITH VERY CAREFUL OPERATION AND USING THE PARKING BRAKE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK BACK ON LEVEL GROUND. I REPLACED ALL THE LINES LEADING FROM THE ABS UNIT TO THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK REROUTING THEM ALONG THE FRAME. IF THIS FAILURE HAD OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY OR WHILE PULLING MY TRAILER A SERIOUS ACCIDENT MAY HAVE RESULTED. THIS PROBLEM IS A MANUFACTURING/ENGINEERING DEFECT IN MANY OF THESE VEHICLES. YOU SHOULD NOT LOSE ALL OF YOUR BRAKES WHEN A LINE RUPTURES. THE DUAL MASTER CYLINDER SHOULD ALLOW YOU TO HAVE BRAKES ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE, GM SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES AND REPLACE THE BRAKE LINES WITH STAINLESS OR ANOTHER ENGINEERING FIX. *TR
BRAKE LINES ARE ROTTED OUT. I PUSHED ON MY BRAKE PEDAL WHILE COMING TO A RED LIGHT AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE RUSTED LINES HAD BROKEN AND MY BRAKES DID NOT WORK. LUCKILY I WAS NOT GOING TO FAST OR TO CLOSE TO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME SO I WAS ABLE TO SLOW ENOUGH TO TURN OFF THE ROAD BY PUSHING IN MY PARKING BRAKE. *TR
FUEL TANK HAS RUSTED STEEL SUPPORT STRAPS; REAR STRAP BROKE AND TANK DROPPED A FEW INCHES PLACING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON RUSTED FRONT SUPPORT STRAP. TANK WOULD BOUNCE UP AND DOWN DUE TO BUMPS IN ROAD. FORTUNATELY MY FRIEND, FOLLOWING MY TRUCK, ALERTED ME AND WE SECURED TANK WITH A LENGTH OF ROPE. HAD HE NOT ALERTED ME IT IS LIKELY FRONT STRAP WOULD HAVE FAILED, DROPPING TANK ONTO PAVEMENT. THE DEFECT WAS NOTED JUST BEFORE I WAS ABOUT TO PROCEED ONTO INTERSTATE 93. HAD THE FRONT STRAP FAILED, THE FUEL TANK WOULD HAVE DRAGGED FOR A DISTANCE AT HIGH SPEED, POSSIBLY CAUSING AN EXPLOSION/FIRE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HAD A FUEL TANK DISLODGE AND I NORMALLY KEEP VEHICLE FOR 150,000 MILES AND 10 YEARS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND VEHICLES WITH STEEL FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS BE RECALLED FOR INSPECTION; IN NORTHEAST WHERE SALT IS USED ON HIGHWAYS, STEEL ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF A VEHICLE WILL RUST. FUEL TANK SUPPORT STRAPS SHOULD BE MADE OF STAINLESS STEEL OR ANOTHER MATERIAL THAT IS NOT SUBJECT TO DEGRADATION/CORROSION DUE TO ROAD SALT. OCCUPANTS OF VEHICLES, FIRST RESPONDERS AND OTHERS ARE AT RISK DUE TO THIS DESIGN FLAW. *TR
THIS COMPLAINT COVERS MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500HD CREW CAB 4WD. ALMOST ONE YEAR AGO I HAD A MAIN BRAKE LINE BLOW UNDERNEATH THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUCK. THE LINE WAS SO CORRODED IT WAS NO WONDER. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON 9-7-10. I WAS HOOKED TO MY FIFTH WHEEL CAMPER AND WAS PREPARING TO PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I PLACED FOOT ON BRAKE TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE IT BLEW. THANKFULLY I WAS JUST BEGINNING TO MOVE. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE REPLACED THE LINE AND FLUSHED SYSTEM. NOW AGAIN ON 8-22-11 SAME SITUATION OCCURRED. THE LINE BLEW IN EXACTLY THE SAME POSITION AS FIRST TIME ONLY A DIFFERENT LINE THIS TIME. NOT TO MENTION THE OTHER CORROSION ON THE BRAKE CALIPERS AND HARDWARE THAT RENDERED MY REAR BRAKES USELESS. HAD TO REPLACE ROTORS AND PADS DUE TO STICKING BRAKE PAD WEARING TO POINT OF METAL TO METAL CONTACT. DID I MENTION I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND IT NOW HAS ONLY 38,500 MILES. RARELY DOES IT GET DRIVEN IN SNOW AND SALT. I HAVE ALL RECEIPTS FOR PARTS THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED ME. IM JUST THANKFUL THAT I WASN'T TOWING AS I USUALLY DO WHEN IM DRIVING THIS TRUCK. I'VE TALKED TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP DON HALL IN ASHLAND, KY AND THEY CITE HUNDREDS OF TRUCKS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. WHEN ARE THEY GOING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I AM A LOYAL GM FAN BUT I WORKED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FOR TWO YEARS SELLING USED VEHICLES. I MADE IT A HABIT OF CHECKING ALL OF OUR GM TRUCK TRADE-INS FOR THIS RUST PROBLEM AND THEY TOO HAD THIS. I SAW EVEN TWO TO THREE YEAR OLD VEHICLES RUSTED TO THE POINT OF COLLAPSE. ONE OF THESE BEING A $65000 CADILLAC ESCALADE. APPALLING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH AND APPLIED THE BRAKES FOR A TRAFFIC STOP WHEN THERE WAS A PULSATION COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THIS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO BE DEPRESSED ABNORMALLY INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE UNTIL HE ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND AFTER INSPECTION, THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND HAD RUPTURED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT A REPRESENTATIVE WOULD LATER RETURN HIS CALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. UPDATED 09/28/2011 *LN *TR
DRIVING DOWN/UP A VERY CURVY ROAD AND MY SPEEDOMETER BECAME INACCURATE. I HAD TO USE MY GPS THE BEST I COULD TO KNOW HOW FAST I WAS GOING, SO THAT I WOULDN'T SPEED. THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD MOVE UP AND DOWN BUT AT THE WRONG SPEEDS. IN PARK AT ONE POINT SAID 56MPH, AT ANOTHER POINT 45-50MPH. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVY/GMC DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. WAITING FOR THE APPROPRIATE PARTS, BUT THE PARTS ARE GOING TO COST ME OVER $400 + LABOR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS PROBLEM TO HAVE, ESPECIALLY WHERE IT AFFECTS ALL MY GAUGES, NOT JUST MY SPEEDOMETER, MINE JUST SHOWED ITSELF THROUGH THE SPEEDOMETER. THIS IS A RIDICULOUS COST TO INCUR FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULDN'T FAIL IN THE FIRST PLACE. *KB
I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500HD 4WD TRUCK. IT HAS 90,500 MILES ON IT. MULTIPLE BRAKE LINES UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAVE RUSTED AND ARE LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT THIS POINT UNLESS REPAIRS ARE MADE COSTING ME OVER $1000. I CANNOT DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL REPAIRS ARE MADE. IT APPEARS AFTER DOING SOME ONLINE RESEARCH THAT THERE IS ALREADY A NHTSA INVESTIGATION CONCERNING PREMATURE BRAKE LINE RUSTING/FAILURE ON GM TRUCKS. I HAVE DRIVEN CARS THAT ARE OVER 30 YEARS OLD AND THEY DO NOT HAVE THE KIND OF RUST I HAVE ON MY GMC SIERRA THAT IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD!!! PLEASE MAKE GM DO A RECALL ON THIS DESIGN FAILURE. THEY ARE ENDANGERING THE LIVES OF THEIR CUSTOMERS! *TR
SPEEDOMETER FLUTTERS AND NOW GIVES ERRONEOUS READING, GAS GAUGE GIVES FALSE READINGS. I DID SOME ONLINE RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER AND A LETTER WAS SENT BY GMC. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER AND NOW MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS FAILING. AND NOW AM PAST MILEAGE/YEARS TO FIX, BECAUSE I NEVER GOT THE ORIGINAL LETTER AND NEVER NEW THERE WAS A PROBLEM. *TR
RECEIVED A CONDITIONAL LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT MY VEHICLE MY EXPERIENCE A CONDITION RESULTING FROM CORROSION THAT MAY EFFECT THE RELAY RESISTOR MODULE AND WIRE CONNECTOR FOR THE HEATER/HVAC FAN MOTOR. THE LETTER STATES THAT THE WIRE AND/OR RESISTOR COULD OVERHEAT. THIS MAY BE ACCOMPANIED BY A BURNING SMELL OR SMOKE. I HAVE FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE THAT A CO-WORKERS TRUCK CAUGHT FIRE ON JULY 26, 2011 DO TO THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED VIA THE INTERNET ABOUT FIRE DAMAGE FROM THIS CONDITION. I HAVE TALKED TO GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY FAILED TO REACT. MY CO-WORKER DID NOT HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS PRIOR TO HIS VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE UNDER HIS DASH THAT TOTALED HIS TRUCK. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY TRUCK WILL CATCH FIRE WITHOUT NOTICE AND AS A RESULT POTENTIALLY BURN DOWN MY HOUSE. WHENEVER SOMEONE DESCRIBES A SYMPTOM AS A BURNING SMELL OR SMOKE IT IS POTENTIALLY TO LATE TO FIX THE ISSUE AND COULD CAUSE BODILY HARM OR DEATH. *KB
WHILE TOWING 4000# BOAT, APPROACHED TRAFFIC SIGNAL AND APPLIED BRAKES WHILE MOVING AT APPROX 10 MPH, THE BRAKES APPLIED AND THE PEDAL THEN BOTTOMED OUT ON THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE VEERED LEFT AND CAME TO A STOP AFTER MUCH CONTINUED BRAKING EFFORT. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE FIRST SAFE INTERSECTION AND EXAMINED. INSPECTION UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE FRAME REVEALED RUSTED THROUGH STEEL BRAKE LINE FROM MASTER CYLINDER AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID ONTO THE STREET. VEHICLE AND BOAT WERE TOWED, LATER INSPECTION REVEALED FOUR OF FIVE STEEL BRAKE LINES AT THE PROPORTIONING VALVE WERE RUSTED TO POINT THAT REPLACEMENT WAS NECESSARY.
I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK FROM DEALER WITH 40151 MILES. I HAVE THIS TRUCK FROM 2007 TO PRESENT TIME WITH THE MILEAGE AT 51,000 MILES. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN USED FOR PERSONAL USE ONLY. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THIS WILL EFFECT MILLIONS OF GM TRUCKS. THIS PROBLEM WILL COST OVER $1000. TO FIX BECAUSE OF POSSIBLE FIRE,ENGINE FAILURE, EMISSIONS PROBLEMS, OTHER VERY COSTLY PROBLEMS THAT WILL RELATE TO THE BOLTS BREAKING OFF FROM DEFECT ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. THIS CAN CAUSE VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS. (THIS IS AS SERIOUS AS THE TOYOTA CAR PROBLEMS OR WORSE). I ALSO THINK WITH THE NEW AIR EMISSIONS STANDARDS THESE TRUCKS WILL NOT PASS THE INSPECTIONS. BECAUSE OF THE EXHAUST LEAKS ON THE MOTOR. THERE IS NO DOUBT I FEEL THIS SHOULD & CAN BE A CLASS ACTION SUIT. GM KNOWS OF THIS DEFECT OF THE BOLT BUT STILL NO RECALL. WHY MUST IT TAKE SOMEONE TO GET KILLED OR HURT BEFORE THEY FIX THE PROBLEM. I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM & NOW WHEN I DRIVE I AM WORRIED ABOUT THE TRUCK GOING ON FIRE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS FAILED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. *TR
I GOT INTO MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP TRUCK AND WENT TO STOP. THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I DISCOVERED THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND CREATED A LEAK CAUSING LOSS OF THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE HAS NO RUST IN ANY OTHER AREAS. IT IS OBVIOUS THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED WELL BEFORE THE NORMAL LIFE OF VEHICLE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE AN ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED DUE PRIMARILY TO MY EXPERIENCE AS A LONG TIME POLICE OFFICER. THIS TYPE OF BRAKE FAILURE COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIATOR DID NOT HAVE A PEACOCK TO DRAIN ITS COOLANT FROM. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER STOPPED USING PEACOCKS TO SAVE MONEY. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE SITUATION BECAUSE IT COULD LEAD TO A FAILURE OF THE RADIATOR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 28,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE MUST BE REMOVED TO CHANGE COOLANT. IN DOING SO THE HOSE CAN BE DESTROYED AND COOLANT COULD BE SPILT ON THE GROUND. UPDATED 10/11/2011 *LN *TR
WIFE AND CHILD DRIVING TRUCK, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND SERVICE BRAKE INDICATOR CAME ON WHILE ON INTERSTATE. STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND FILLED MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR WITH FLUID. DROVE VEHICLE 8 MORE MILES AND TRADED WITH ME, WHEN I GOT TO THE VEHICLE, I FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING ONTO GROUND, FOUND LINES CORRODED BEYOND BELIEF ON DRIVER SIDE FRAME AROUND WHEEL WELL. DROVE TRUCK HOME USING EMERGENCY BRAKE, LOW SPEED, AND DOWN SHIFTING. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED DUE TO STRONG BELIEF THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. *TR
LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES REAR EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKEN OFF. IT LEAKS EXHAUST, MAY BE A FIRE HAZARD AND COULD CAUSE EMISSIONS FAILURE AND EMISSIONS COMPONENTS FAILURES. THIS PROBLEM IS ON A 2004 GMC 6.0 ENGINE. NOTICED TICKING NOISE AT ABOUT 38000 MILES AND IT WOULD GO AWAY AFTER 30-45 SECONDS. A GM REP SAID IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE SKIRT LESS PISTONS AND NOT TO WORRY. HAD SOME WORK DONE AT A GARAGE ABOUT A WEEK AGO AND MECHANIC POINTED OUT THE BROKEN BOLTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, HE HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE CYLINDER HEADS BEING CRACKED, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE OIL AND COOLANT. THE LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE CYLINDER HEADS, THE GASKET KIT, BOLTS AND NUTS. THE MANUFACTURER DENIED ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 79,520.

BOLTS THAT HOLD EXHAUST MANIFOLD ARE BREAKING 3 ARE GONE ALREADY I JUST NOTICED IT TODAY BECAUSE I HEARD AN EXHAUST LEAK UNKNOWN HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. *TR
LOST BRAKES WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH WAS ABLE TO STOP AND NOTICED BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM ABOVE GAS TANK JUST FORWARD OF REAR AXLE ON DRIVERS SIDE. NEW BRAKE LINE WAS INSTALLED AT GMC DEALER IN JULY 2010 AFTER IT BURST GOING 45 MPH SAME PROBLEM AS IN JULY 2010 THAT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH PROPERTY DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND OTHERS PROPERTY AFTER SUDDEN COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. NEW LINE IS SEVERELY CORRODED AT EACH GREEN PLASTIC CLIP AFTER ONLY 7 MONTHS.

THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
MY TRUCK IS A WORK TRUCK DRIVEN BY AN EMPLOYEE, I HAVE JUST RECENTLY BECOME AWARE OF A CONDITION REGARDING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, WHEREIN THE WHOLE PANEL DOES NOT WORK, I WAS ADVISED BY THE EMPLOYEE THAT THIS HAPPENED QUITE SOME TIME AGO, BUT WAS NEVER MADE AWARE. I CONTACTED GMC BUT APPARENTLY, BECAUSE THIS IS CONSIDERED A SPECIAL POLICY RECALL (ONLY IF SOMEONE COMPLAINS - AND WITHIN A SPECIFIED TIME PERIOD 7 YRS OR 80,000 MILES) THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THIS DEFECT. I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE, NOR WAS I AWARE OF THE PROBLEM WITHIN THAT TIME PERIOD. I WAS FURTHER INFORMED BY MY WORKER THAT AT THE TIME THE PANEL WENT OUT, THE FAN FOR THE HEATER/AIR CONDITION UNIT APPEARED TO SMOKE AND NOW IT DOES NOT WORK. HERE AGAIN, I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICES FOR THIS DEFECT EITHER. FINALLY, IN MY ATTEMPTS TO GET THE CLUSTER REPAIRED, I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE HYDRO BOOST ACCUMULATOR... I HAVE NOT ONCE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS VEHICLE AND I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW. MY VEHICLE HAS 101,000 MILES ON IT. YOU WOULD THINK THAT A VEHICLE OF THIS NATURE WOULD LAST LONGER THAN 100,000. BUT APPARENTLY NOT... TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED WHEN HE ACCELERATED AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT GEARS, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST WITH THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP THE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND HAD NO BRAKES. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AND MISS THE VEHICLE IN FROM OF ME. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT, THE ABS ACTIVATES AT A VERY LOW SPEED, APPROX 5MPH, THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP AS EXPECTED. ALMOST CAUSED MY WIFE AND KIDS TO HIT VEHICLE IN FRONT. MECHANICS HAVE STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS AND THE HUB WITH SPEED SENSOR WILL NEED REPLACED OR REPAIRED AT OWNER EXPENSE. *KB

2004 GMC SIERRA EXT CAB WITH 40K MILES HAS SERIOUSLY DEGRADED BRAKING POWER. UPON SUDDEN STOPS THE VEHICLE WASN'T TO KEEP ROLLING TAKING FAR TO LONG TO STOP. I WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION IN MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 4X4 2500HD PICKUP TRUCK WITH A 2800 POUND TRAILER WHEN I PRESSED THE BRAKES TO STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. THE TRAILER BRAKES WERE NOT ENOUGH TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND I CONTINUED INTO THE INTERSECTION AND WAS ALMOST STRUCK BY TWO OTHER VEHICLES. THEY JUST MISSED HITTING MY VEHICLE AND CAUSING SERIOUS INJURIES TO MYSELF AND MY PASSENGER, AS WELL AS THEMSELVES. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALER. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT A BRAKE LINE HAD BURST AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HE ALSO STATED THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT $750.00 PER SIDE. HE TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES AND THAT THESE LINES ONLY LAST 4-7 YEARS ON AVERAGE. THERE IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT CORROSION ON THE FRAME. MY VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GARAGED AND REGULAR MAINTENANCE IS DONE. THE DEALER THEN TOLD ME THAT SINCE WE LIVE IN A SNOW BELT STATE THAT I SHOULD EXPECT THIS AND THAT GMC WILL NOT HELP WITH THE REPAIR. I TOLD HIM THAT I AM VERY UPSET AND THAT I HAVE BEEN A FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC FOR OVER 25 YEARS, AND IF WHAT HE JUST SAID WAS TRUE, THEN I WOULD HAVE HAD TO RESCUE AN AWFUL LOT OF PEOPLE FROM THEIR CRASHED VEHICLES IF ON AVERAGE BRAKE LINES ONLY LASTED 4-7 YEARS. I FEEL THAT THIS NEEDS TO BE REPORTED AND INVESTIGATED BECAUSE IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET HURT IF WHAT THE DEALER TOLD ME IS TRUE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE CLIP AND THE BRAKE SWITCH WAS REINSTALLED. IN ADDITION, WHILE TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS PRODUCING AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE LOWER BEARING ASSEMBLY WAS WORN. THE STEERING WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 38,338.
