2004 GMC PU TRK ABS ACTIVATION @ 5MPH OR LESS TRK DON"T STOP SAFELY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT WAS TOWING A BOAT AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS TRANSFER CASE OIL SPLATTERED ALL OVER THE BOAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE TRANSFER CASE. A NEW TRANSFER CASE AND PUMP HOUSING WERE INSTALLED AT THE INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY. THE FAILURE DID NOT RECUR. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 82,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED COMPLETELY FROM THE TIRE CAUSING MODERATE BODY DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. TIRE IS A TEMPRA TRAILCUTTER RADIAL RT SIZE LT 305/70R16. A ONLINE SEARCH OF THIS TIRE REVEALED A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON THE SAME TIRE BUT ONE SIZE SMALLER BY ON 03-14-06. TREAWAYS RECALL # 06T008000 FOR TIRES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 02-01-04 TO 01-21-06. MY TIRE SHOWS A MANUFACTURED DATE OF 4605 ( MEANING THE 46TH WEEK OF THE YEAR 2005 ). VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED AND SPARE TIRE USED. BODY DAMAGED WILL HAVE TO BE REPAIRED. I STILL HAVE THE TIRE AND SEPARATED TREAD FOR INSPECTION. *TR
I EXPERIENCE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATION (LOW SPEED ABS ACTIVATION) WHEN ROLLING TO A STOP. MY GMC ONSTAR REPORT SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY ABS BRAKING SYSTEM YET I HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE RUSTED AND/OR FROZE UP WHEEL SPEED SENSORS AS VERIFIED BY TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS. I UNDERSTAND THEY WERE RECALLS BY GMC OF OTHER TRUCKS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I REALLY HATE TO PAY $750 FOR NEW FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLIES. I WANT MY TRUCK RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. THERE IS A GMC TECHNICAL BULLETIN 03-05-25-007D. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING OUR 2004 GMC SIERRA PICKUP ON HIGHWAY 101 IN THE CENTRAL COAST OF CALIFORNIA. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH A BOLT FELL OUT OF THE STEERING COLUMN LEAVING HIM WITH ABSOLUTELY NO STEERING. HE CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL SPINS AROUND LIKE A ROULETTE WHEEL AND CLEARLY IS NOT ATTACHED TO ANY PART OF THE STEERING COLUMN. THE RESPONDING TOW TRUCK DRIVER CLAIMED HE HAS NEVER SEEN A STEERING WHEEL LIKE THIS - NOT EVEN ON A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN WRECKED. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 GMC SIERRA PICKUP AND THE SPEEDOMETER BROKE ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. CAN ANYTHING BE DONE BY THE COMPANY THAT WONT COST ME OVER 400 DOLLARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH, SMOKE EXPELLED FROM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND AIR VENTS. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE CONTACT WAITED SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE RESTARTING THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED OPERATION WITHOUT THE SMOKE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2006-2009 GMC SIERRA MODELS, THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 10V24000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE IDENTICAL FAILURES AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE STEERING WOULD BECOME DIFFICULT TO MOVE. WHEN ATTACHING THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE TRAILER THE TAIL LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLT FAILURES AT THE CYLINDER HEAD ON BOTH BANKS OF THE ENGINE. *TR
I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 THAT IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED FOR CRACKS IN BOTH ENGINE HEADS. THE TRUCK HAS 90,000 MILES ON IT AND I HAVE KEPT UP ON ALL NECESSARY MAINTENANCE. THE PROBLEM BEGAN APPROX. 2 MONTHS AGO WHEN I NOTED A KNOCKING SOUND AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK COLD. THE KNOCKING WOULD DISSIPATE AFTER THE TRUCK WARMED UP. I WAS TOLD THE SOUND WAS CAUSED FROM DIRTY LIFTERS AND NOT TO BE CONCERNED AS LONG AS SOUND DISSIPATED AFTER IT WAS WARM. UPON HAVING MY OIL CHANGED 2 DAYS AGO, COOLANT WAS NOTED IN THE OIL. (HINTS THE KNOCKING) THE HEADS WERE PULLED AND BOTH WERE CRACKED AROUND WHERE THE HEADS BOLT TO THE BLOCK. IN TALKING TO THE MECHANIC, THE CAST THEY USED WHEN MAKING THE HEADS WAS BAD. APPARENTLY AROUND THE BOLT HOLES, THE ALUMINUM IS THIN. GMC HOWEVER ACCEPTED MILLIONS OF THESE AND ARE STILL USING THEM TODAY. THE REPAIR IS COSTING ME $3,400.00. *TR
OVER THE PAST WEEK, I NOTICED THAT MY GMC DENALI TRUCK WAS PULLING TO THE LEFT SO I HAD TO OVERSTEER TO THE RIGHT. EACH DAY, THE EFFECT BECAME MORE PRONOUNCED SO I HAD THE LOCAL GMC DEALER CHECK OUT THE TRUCK. THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE CORDS IN THE FRONT GOODYEAR WRANGLER HP TIRE HAD SEPARATED--IT WAS A BLOWOUT WAITING TO HAPPEN. I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING WITH MY TRUCK TO HAVE CAUSED THE SEPARATION, THE TREAD WEAR WAS EVEN ON ALL TIRES, THEY WERE REGULARLY CHECKED FOR INFLATION, AND MOST OF THE TREAD WAS LEFT SINCE I HAVE PUT LOW MILEAGE ON THIS TIRES. A NUMBER OF DEATHS HAVE BEEN REPORTED DUE TO FAILURE OF THIS TYPE OF TIRE. I HAD BOTH FRONT TIRES REPLACED AND OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, I WILL REPLACE THE REMAINING TWO TIRES. I CANNOT CHANCE A DEATH OR INJURY. PLEASE RECALL THESE TIRES. HOW MANY PEOPLE NEED TO DIE. *JB
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING MY VEHICLES INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MAY GIVE FALSE READINGS. IF YOUR VEHICLE IS DOING THIS, TAKE THIS LETTER TO YOUR GM DEALER AND THEY WILL FIX THE PROBLEM IF IT'S NOT THEN YOU DON'T NEED TO. IT ALSO STATED THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THIS IS 70,000 MILES AND THEY WOULD NOT REPLACE THE CLUSTER IF IT WAS NOT GIVING FALSE READINGS. AT 93,721 MY FUEL GAUGE STARTED MALFUNCTIONING, AND AT 94,066 MILES MY SPEEDOMETER READING WAS OVER 120MPH, AND I WAS NOT EVEN MOVING. NOW WHEN I DRIVE THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE OR NEIGHBORHOOD I HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST I'M GOING. I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THESE PROBLEMS STARTED HAPPENING. WHEN I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO GET IT FIXED UNDER THE WARRANTY THEY TOLD ME IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD NOT COVER THE PARTS. SO MUCH FOR GMC PROFESSIONAL GRADE. THE LOGO THEY USE WHEN SELLING THERE VEHICLES ON TV. I HAVE SAVED PICTURES ON MY CELL PHONE SHOWING THE ACTUAL MILEAGE WHEN THESE FALSE READINGS OCCURRED. *TR
MULTIPLE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BROKEN ON EACH SIDE. *TR
2004 GMC SIERRA SLT DURAMAX 2500HD. 92,000 MILES. WELL -MAINTAINED. WITH NO WARNING SPEEDOMETER READ FORTY MILES TOO LOW. WE THOUGHT WE WERE ENTERING THE FREEWAY AT 60, WHILE IN FACT WE WERE GOING 20. WE ALMOST GOT RAMMED BY A TRUCK. IT IS ILLEGAL TO GO 20 ON AN INTERSTATE. THIS REQUIRED SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER REPLACEMENT COSTING $529. GM REFUSED ANY COVERAGE OF THE COST. I SUGGESTED THEY COVER HALF THE CLUSTER PART, $175. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE SAID, "NO." IF THERE IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THIS WOULD BE IT! I UNDERSTAND THERE ARE SEVERAL LAWSUITS REGARDING THESE SPEEDOMETERS. OUR VIN IS ON THEIR "SILENT RECALL" LIST. NATIONAL HIGHWAY SAFETY TRAFFIC ADMINISTRATION SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ISSUING OPEN ENDED RECALLS FOR SAFETY ITEMS SUCH AS THESE. THE MISSION IS TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC? *TR
TRANSFER CASE NV 246 INTERNAL OIL PUMP WEARS HOLE IN MAGNESIUM CASE AND LEAKS OIL COMPLETELY OUT OF TRANSFER CASE. OIL COATS UNDERSIDE OF VEHICLE INCLUDING HOT EXHAUST SYSTEM. SMOKE APPEARED FROM VEHICLE. TRANSFER CASE MADE ABNORMAL GRINDING NOISE AND THEN OVERHEATED DAMAGING INTERNAL COMPONENTS. TRANSFER CASE REQUIRES REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DISABLED BECAUSE OF FAILURE. FIRE WAS AVERTED. VEHICLE MAINTAINED AT DEALER EXCLUSIVELY EXCEPT FOR OIL CHANGES. DEALER NEVER PROVIDED ANY INFO REGARDING POTENTIAL MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. REPAIR QUOTE FROM DEALER $2200. *TR
WHILE DRIVING NOTICED THAT I WAS GOING FASTER THAN THE SPEEDOMETER SAID. FELT LIKE I WAS GOING AT LEAST 80 WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER SAID 45 MPH. KEPT WATCHING AND WHEN I CAME TO A STOP THE METER WOULD READ BELOW ZERO. TRIED RESTARTING THE TRUCK AND IT RESET TO ZERO BUT WHILE HOLDING A SET SPEED THE METER WOULD CONTINUOUSLY DROP. NEXT DAY WORKED FINE. 2 DAYS LATER I NOTICED THE METER DROP OFF AGAIN. WHEN I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF THIS TIME IT GOT STUCK AT 30MPH. DROVE FOR A LITTLE WHILE AND TRIED SHUTTING IT OFF AND STARTING IT AGAIN THIS TIME IT STAYED AT ZERO. IT TOLD THE WIFE NOT TO DRIVE IT UNTIL IT IS FIXED. I DON'T WANT HER IN THERE WITH MY CHILD IF THERE WAS A WRECK DUE TO NOT KNOWING WHAT SPEED THE TRUCK IS REALLY GOING. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 GMC SIERRA WITH MY CAR SEAT WARMERS ON. I SUFFERED 1ST AND 2ND DEGREE BURNS TO MY BACK FROM THE CAR SEAT WARMERS. I HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVING THE CAR FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES. THE PAIN WORSENED, AND I IMMEDIATELY SOUGHT MEDICAL ATTENTION. I REPORTED THIS TO GMC CLAIMS ON THE SAME DAY. I HAD PICTURES TAKEN OF MY BACK ON THE DAY OF THE INJURY, AND 2 DAYS LATER. GMC CLAIMS ON FEB 26TH TOLD ME MY CAR SEAT TEMPS (RAYTECH 120.1 F WITH LEATHER ON; 170 F WITH LEATHER OFF) ARE WITHIN NORMAL RANGE AND THIS CLAIM DOES NOT ACTUALLY EVEN NEED TO BE SETTLED BY GMC. THESE TEMPERATURES WERE TAKEN BY GMC'S INVESTIGATION SPECIALIST. I WITNESSED THE INVESTIGATION. I SPOKE TO A FORENSIC ENGINEER ON MARCH 5, 2010, WHO STATED THE TEMPERATURES READ FROM THE RAYTEC ARE INACCURATE AS THEY WERE NOT DONE DURING COMPRESSION OF THE CAR SEAT TO SIMULATE SITTING IN THE SEAT. THIS FORENSIC ENGINEER INFORMED ME THAT THE ACCURATE TEMPERATURES WOULD HAVE BEEN HIGHER . I HAVE NOT TRIED THE SEAT WARMERS SINCE MY INJURY, BECAUSE I DO NOT WANT TO INCUR FURTHER INJURY OR POSSIBLY WORSE, SUCH AS A FIRE HAZARD. AT THIS POINT, THE CLAIM IS ONGOING. I AM VERY UPSET WITH GMC AND THEIR HANDLING OF THIS CLAIM. IT SEEMS THAT THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY ARE BEING DISREGARDED. *TR
INCONSISTENT IDLE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, IDLE STICKS. DEALER RAN DIAGNOSTIC SAID WAS ACCELERATOR PEDAL PRESSURE SENSOR. I PURCHASED REPLACEMENT PART & HAD REPLACED. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED & I HAD DEALER RUN ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC RESULTING IN THE SAME ISSUE. OLD PART OR NO LONGER AVAILABLE.*CW
2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 4X4 EXTENDED CAB / 37,828 MILES / DRIVEN IN PENNSYLVANIA - ABS ACTIVATES AT LOW SPEED (APPROXIMATELY 5 - 10 MPH) WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT. WHEN ABS ACTIVATES, THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP AS EXPECTED AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO KEEP TRUCK FROM ENTERING INTERSECTIONS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BUT IS INCREASING IN REGULARITY. MECHANICS HAVE STATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS AND THE HUB WITH SPEED SENSOR WILL NEED REPLACED OR REPAIRED. ISSUE IS DETERMINING WHICH HUB AND SENSOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WAS ISSUED FOR 1999 - 2002 MODELS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID# 05V379000. *TR
2004 GMC 1500 4X4 85,000 MI., BRAKES FEEL SOFT AND HAVE EXCESSIVE TRAVEL DURING EMERGENCY STOPPING OR WHEN TOWING. HAVE REPLACED FRONT PADS WITH MORE AGGRESSIVE PADS AND NO HELP, HAVE TRIED BLEEDING SEVERAL TIMES TO NO AVAIL. PERSONALLY THINK THE PROBLEM LIES IN THE LINES FROM THE MASTER CYL. TO ABS BOX AS THESE ARE FLEX STYLE LINES NOT HARD LINES, I HAVE BEEN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE REPAIR BUSINESS FOR 40 YEARS AND HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS THAT I COULD NOT LOCATE A PROBLEM, ALL COMPONENTS APPEAR TO BE WORKING PROPERLY, IE: BOOSTER, MASTER CYL, ABS CONTROLLER, AND CALIPERS. I PERSONALLY KNOW OF SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES FROM THESE YEARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS AND GM HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEMS. *TR

GMC & CHEV K1500 SERIES PICKUP TRUCKS 4X4 FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS ABS BRAKE CENSOR UNIT I HAD 2 SETS OF THESE GO BAD ON QA PICKUP WITH LESS THAN 35000 MILES ON IT THESE WHEEL BEARINGS ARE NOT BAD THEY JUST BECOME A LITTLE LOSE BUT ARE STILL IN FACTORY SPEC. THERE IS A ABS SENSOR IN BETWEEN THEM AND THE UNIT WILL MALFUNCTION IN THIS CONDITION WHICH WILL NOT LET YOU STOP WHEN ON DRY ROADS I RAN THROUGH 2 STOP SIGNS TRYING TO STOP WITH 2 FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THIS CONDITION IS NOT JUST WITH MY TRUCK I HAVE OVER 12 FRIENDS THAT HAVE THE SAME TRUCK 2002 THUR 2006 AND WE HAVE ALL HAD THIS HAPPEN TO US IF YOU WANT NAMES AND #'S I CAN GET THEM TW*

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLE BROKE WHEN PUTTING OUR 2004 1500 GMC SIERRA INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE CAN NO LONGER BE PARKED AT AN ANGLE OR IT WILL ROLL. A PART HAS BEEN ORDERED BUT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED YET. GMC WAS CONTACTED BUT WE WERE TOLD THAT A RECALL FOR A SIMILAR SITUATION ONLY EFFECTS VEHICLES MADE IN 1999-2002. *TR
VEHICLE DIES FROM TIME TO TIME, AND WILL NOT START FROM 10 TO 45 MINUTES LATER AFTER THE ENGINE DIES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THERE IS NO ELECTRICAL TO ANY OF THE STARTING CIRCUITS. THE FIRST FAILURE HAPPENED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, SPEED SET AT 70 MPH, IN LEFT LANE. POWER STEERING LOST, POWER BRAKING LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WAS CRITICAL, MEDIAN WAS WOODED SO HAD TO STEER DEAD VEHICLE TO RIGHT LANE AND OFF HIGHWAY. THIS CONDITION HAS HAPPENED 11 TIMES AND THE LAST TWO WERE IN TRAFFIC, WITH THE NEXT TO LAST BEING IN A CURVE ON A 4 LANE UNDIVIDED STATE HIGHWAY AND COMING WITHIN INCHES OF A REAR END COLLISION. THE VEHICLE WAS FOUND TO HAVE LOOSE PINS AT CONNECTOR, BUT THE MECHANIC SAID HE WAS UNSURE THAT THIS WAS THE PROBLEM, THIS WAS AT THE FIRST FAILURE IN 2004. THE LAST TIME IT DIED WAS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC ON DALLAS NORTH TOLLWAY, RESULTING IN DODGING TRAFFIC. THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY IN A LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP AND HAS BEEN THERE FOR CLOSE TO ONE MONTH, WITH NO SURE CAUSE OF FAILURE. GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER SAID THAT THIS WAS THE ONLY GMC K2500 IN THE WORLD WITH THIS REPORTED PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE FAILS AT VARIOUS TIMES AND DATES. BEGINNING ON 05/09/04 TO 06/28/09 AND WAS PLACED IN THE REPAIR SHOP ON 07/02/09 THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE DUE TO LOSS OF ALL POWER ASSIST AND DIFFICULT TO BRAKE AND STEER DURING THIS CONDITION. I PURCHASED BRIDGESTONE DUELER ALENZA HL TIRES AT 42509 ON 06/10/2009 AND ON 04/10/2011 I HAD A SLOW LEAK AND WENT TO BRIDGESTONE DEALER FOR REPAIR BUT NOTICED CRACKING IN TREAD. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL! IN MAY 2013 MY MECHANIC SAID THIS CRACKING WAS DRY ROT AND I VERIFIED WITH OTHER TIRE DEALER TRUCK HAD 70693 MILE. THIS IS A 65000 MILE TIRE AND I ONLY HAD 14000 MILES BEFORE CRACKING STARTED- THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I DID NOT GO BACK TO BRIDGESTONE DEALER BECAUSE I WAS GIVEN INACCURATE INFO AND I BOUGHT MICHELIN INSTEAD. 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500HD, INSTRUMENT PANEL STARTED SHOWING THE RPM'S TO BE IN THE RED ZONE, THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD QUITE WORKING, THEN THE GAS GAGE WOULD QUITE WORKING, THEN THE TEMPERATURE GAUGES QUITE WORKING, TO BEGIN WITH IT WOULD HAPPEN PERIODICALLY TILL IT QUITE WORKING COMPLETELY. TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP AND HAD FIXED. I KNOW TWO OTHER PEOPLE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ALSO WITH THE SAME VEHICLES ONLY A YEAR OR TWO APART. ALL OF WHICH HAPPENED BETWEEN 80,000 AND 110,000 MILES. FEEL IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN, WHEN I WAS DOING 75MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND SAW MY RPM'S PEGGED IN THE RED AND WAS IN A HURRY TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PREVENT MY ENGINE FROM BLOWING UP. I HAVE A COMPLAINT WITH GMC. I AM HAVING PROBLEMS AS WELL AS OTHERS THAT I KNOW WITH THE 2003/2004 TRUCK. I HAVE A 2004 GMC SIERRA AND MY GAUGES DO NOT WORK. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY SHOWING I'M DRIVING 5MPH. MY OIL PRESSURE GAGE IS NOT RIGHT. I TALKED WITH DIFFERENT SERVICE GUYS FROM GMC DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THEY WERE REPLACING THE PANEL CLUSTERS LEFT AND RIGHT IN THESE TRUCKS. GMC WILL NOT CONSIDER IT A RECALL. IT SHOULD BE! I JUST PURCHASED A 2004 GMC 2500HD FROM A PRIVATE PARTY. I INSPECTED THE TIRES (COOPER DISCOVERER ATR, LT265/16R16 LOAD RANGE E, DOT#3DW8 C8C 2406) AND REVEALED THAT THE TREAD AND SIDEWALLS ON ALL FOUR TIRES WERE SEPARATING. I CONTACTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER WHO CONTACTED THE DEALER WHOM HE PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM. THE DEALER TOLD HIM THAT I WOULD HAVE TO CONTACT COOPER TIRE COMPANY TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. UPON READING THE NHTSA COMPLAINTS AND RECALL HISTORY I REALIZE THAT IT IS USELESS TO CONTACT COOPER TIRE SINCE NHTSA HAS NOT MANDATED COOPER TO RECALL THE REST OF THE TIRES THAT WERE EFFECTED BY THE "BAD ROBBER" IN 2006. I WILL HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED AND PLACE THEM IN THE GARAGE FOR WHEN THE RECALL COMES OUT AFTER SOMEONE'S LIFE IS TAKEN DUE TO A FAILED TIRE AND A FAILED POLICY. THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED VERY EASILY WHEN THE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE CONTACT APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL SO HE REPLACED THE BRAKES HIMSELF. THE FAILURE CONTINUED SO HE NOTIFIED AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND WAS INFORMED HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 05V043000, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC OR 04V045000, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. HE ALSO STATED THAT HIS SPEEDOMETER AND OIL GAUGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAYED INCORRECT IMPROPER READINGS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.

THE CONTACT PERFORMED ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ON THE VEHICLE AND OBSERVED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE (4 -WHEEL DRIVE) CONTAINED PINHOLES, WHICH LED TO AN INTERNAL FLUID LEAK. THE TRANSFER CASE FLUID LEVEL WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. THE LOCKING CLIP FAILED, WHICH CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE LOCKING CLIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA SLE EXTENDED CAB SHORTBOX Z-71 PICKUP WHICH I BOUGHT NEW IN JUNE, 2004. I HAVE EXPERIENCED A "RATTLE" IN THE STEERING IN THE LAST YEAR WHICH KEPT GETTING WORSE. MASTER AUTO IN GRAND FORKS REPLACE THE STEERING SHAFT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT A COST TO ME OF $166.11. SINCE THIS STEERING SHAFT COULD BIND/FREEZE UP, I BELIEVE THIS PART SHOULD HAVE BEEN "RECALLED" BY GM AND REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE AS A FACTORY DEFECT AND SAFETY HAZARD. *TR

WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST THE SEATING FUNCTION AND MOVE FORWARD IT WOULD ROLL BACKWARDS AND WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ADJUST THE SEAT BACKWARDS, IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
THE SPEEDOMETER UNEXPECTEDLY STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN I-4. IT WAS REGISTERING 65MPH ONE MINUTE, THEN THE NEXT 0 MPH. THIS ORIGINALLY HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 1 1/2 YEARS AGO. I CONTACTED MY DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. T THAT TIME, I HAD APPROXIMATELY 69000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. HE TOLD ME TO TRY AND RESTARTING IT AND IT SHOULD START WORKING RIGHT AGAIN. WHICH IT DID. IT HAS CONTINUED TO ACT UP SINCE AND IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT. THE DEALER NOW TELLS ME THAT ITS IS THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A HAZARD AS WHEN IT STOPS WORKING, I HAVE KNOW IDEA AS TO MY SPEED. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM BY GM AND THEY OFFERED A EXTENDED FIX OPTION, BUT DID NOT NOTIFY GM OWNERS OF THIS HAZARD. *TR
