SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONING STAYS AT 50MPH> WHEN STOPPED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND IT WOULD INDICATE A FASTER SPEED THAN HE WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE ALSO MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY REPLACED BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE CARRIER BEARINGS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO ELEVATE THE VEHICLE AND MOVE THE WHEEL ABOUT A HALF INCH IN BOTH DIRECTIONS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BUT WAS OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A 2005 MODEL PRODUCED IN 2004; HOWEVER, THE VIN DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS A 2004. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. HAS BEEN ACTING UP FOR MONTHS DID NOT WORK AT ALL TODAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY GMC SIERRA THE SPEEDOMETER READING IS GROSSLY AND OBVIOUSLY INACCURATE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND HE SAYS THAT GM PARTS WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $600 AND THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER SHOP SAYS HE SEES SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK ON THIS MODEL OF PICKUP. USING MY GPS FOR SPEED MONITORING SINCE I DON'T WANT TO PAY GM AN EXORBITANT REPAIR FEE FOR SOMETHING THEY AREN'T STANDING BEHIND. *TR

ENGINE FAILURE 2004 GMC SIERRA SERVICE BULLETIN 06-06-01-019B INTERNAL COOLANT LOSS LEAK IN CYLINDER HEADS MFG BY COSTECH LEAD TO MY ENGINES DEATH WITH JUST 89,000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOW PROBLEM SINCE 2004 AND FROM OTHER PEOPLE I HAVE LEARNED GM WILL NOT COVER EXPENSES. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 04 GMC SIERRA STICKS. SOMETIMES IT READS 120 SITTING STILL AND MINE IS NOT THE ONLY ONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BECAME RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT ALL EIGHT FUEL INJECTORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE MADE, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE AND HAD THE FUEL INJECTORS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TRADED FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,411.
SPEEDOMETER ERRATICALLY SHOWS INCORRECT SPEED WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES DISPLAYING 120MPH OR 0MPH. VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL CHECKED WITH DEALER AND WOULD COST $800.00 TO REPLACE BAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. ONLY HAS 73,000 MILES. *TR
ALLISON TRANSMISSION HOUSING FAILED AT 54,000 MILES. GM PAID PARTS, I PAID 1,200.00 LABOR , WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS 2 BULLETINS OUT ON DEFECTIVE HOUSING AND WHEN THEY FINISHED REPAIR THEY SAID THEY INSTALLED UPDATED HOUSING SO I WOULD NOT HAVE PROBLEM AGAIN. DON'T THINK I SHOULD HAVE PAID ANYTHING TO HAVE IT REPAIRED! AT 105,000 MILES TRANSFER CASE FAILED , COST 1,150.00 TO REPAIR, HAVE HAD TO TAKE BACK 2 MORE TIMES AS REPAIR WAS NOT DONE RIGHT. AT 112.000 MILES SPEEDOMETER BECAME ERRATIC WAS TOLD IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM ,AND SEE ON COMPLAINT SEARCH IT IS , CONSIDER THIS A GREAT SAFETY DANGER AS I DO NOT KNOW WHAT SPEED I'M GOING CAN ONLY GUESS NOT FIXED YET FOUND SOME WHO SELLS REBUILT ONES FOE 150.00 ,SAID THEIR REBUILDING THEM DUE THE LARGE NUMBER THAT ARE FAILING. ALSO AT 112,000 MILES PARK NEUTRAL SWITCH STARTED ACTING UP ,CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ,SHIFT BAR LIGHT GOES AWAY, TRUCK WON'T SHIFT PROPERLY AND STAY IN CERTAIN GEARS WITHOUT SHIFTING UP ,EFFECTS DOOR LOCKS. LOOKED UP PARK NEUTRAL SHIFT AS PART AND CAME ACROSS BULLETINS STATING THAT DURING LEFT HAND TURN FRONT TIRE SPRAYS WATER ONTO PARK NEUTRAL ,SWITCH CAUSING PROBLEM ,NEEDS FRONT & REAR SHIELD INSTALLED TO SOLVE PROBLEM. HAVE TAKEN TRUCK BACK IN WAITING FOR INFORMATION. ALSO AROUND 90,000 MILES HAD VERY HARD TIME STARTING TRUCK AND TRUCK RAN POORLY,PROBLEM BECAME WORSE TOOK IN, FUEL INJECTORS WERE BAD AND WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT 112,000 MILES NO NEED TO SAY I'M NOT A GMC FAN ANYMORE , EVEN THOUGH I LIVE IN LANSING MI ( A GM TOWN)AND HAVE LOTS OF FRIENDS AND FAMILY EMPLOYED THERE. I HAVE A 2004 GMC SIERRA AND WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE OTHER DAY, MY SPEEDOMETER JUMPED ALL THE WAY UP TO 105MPH. WHEN I CAME TO A STOP LIGHT THE ODOMETER READ 50MPH, EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T MOVING. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN FOR ME. I HAD BEEN NOTICING STRANGE GAGE READING ON MY CLUSTER PANEL FOR APPROXIMATELY THE LAST 5,000 MILES (STARTED AT 72K). MY TRUCK NOW HAS 78,000 MILES ON IT AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY WOULD COVER THE PARTS FOR A REPLACEMENT INSTRUMENT PANEL BUT, I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS AND THE LABOR. SINCE THIS IS A KNOW SAFETY ISSUE, GM SHOULDN'T BE LEFT TO FIGURE OUT IF THEY CAN SIDE STEP A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM AND PUT PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK. CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FIGHT FOR REPAIRS AND FURTHER PUT THEIR FAMILIES IN UNSAFE VEHICLES WHILE THESE KINDS OF ISSUES GET SORTED OUT. *TR
2004 GMC SIERRA CREW CAB - BURNING ODOR, SOOT ON DASHBOARD, REAR WINDOWS FAIL TO OPERATE. NO BLOWN FUSES. TAKEN TO THOMPSON'S GMC DEALERSHIP IN PLACERVILLE CA FOR REPAIR ON OCTOBER 20. GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATES: WIRING HARNESS FOR REAR WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS PASSES UNDER AND RUBS AGAINST ARM OF PARKING BRAKE PEDAL, LEADING TO SHORT CIRCUIT AND FAILURE OF REAR WINDOWS. WIRING HARNESS REPLACED BY GM SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I CAN SEE THAT THE NEW WIRING HARNESS ALSO COMES INTO CONTACT WITH ARM OF PARKING BRAKE PEDAL! I HAVE THE OLD PART. CONSEQUENCES: BURNED WIRING, LOSS OF VEHICLE FOR 8 DAYS, $772.04 IN REPAIR COST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT BOTH REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WERE WORN, IN ADDITION TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE PAD AND ROTOR. THE CONTACT FEELS THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS SHOULD NOT HAVE FAILED AT 36,000 MILES. THE MANUFACTURER TOOK A REPORT AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT A DEFECT, BUT RATHER A PART OF NORMAL MAINTENANCE. THEY REFUSED TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 36,000. UPDATED 11/14/08 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE PADS WOULD NOT MOVE ON SLIDES. UPDATED 11/19/08. *JB
THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO DISPLAY THE WRONG SPEED. (I.E. SOMETIMES 30MPH AT 50 OR 60 OR 120 AT 45. THE SPEEDOMETER THEN STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. THIS ALL OCCURRED OVER THE PERIOD OF 2 OR 3 MONTHS. *TR
GM MAILED A NOTICE THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IN 2004 SIEERA TRUCKS IS SUBJECT TO FAILURE INCLUDING FUEL GAUGE, SPEEDOMETER, ETC. THESE CAN BE VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS DEPENDING ON DRIVING CONDITIONS. GM HAS OFFER TO EXTEND THE WARRANTY TO 70,000 MILES OR 7 YEARS. THIS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FROM A SAFETY STANDPOINT. *TR
I OWN A 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 Z71 WITH 32,000 ON THE ODOMETER. ON THE MORNING OF 27AUG2008 THE ABS MOTOR LOCATED ON THE FRAMERAIL UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT TURNED ON IMMEDIATELY UPON TURNING THE IGNITION TO ON. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I HAD TO CONTINUE AND DRIVE TO WORK. THE LIGHT STAYED ON THE WHOLE TIME. ONCE I ARRIVED AT WORK I REMOVED THE FUSE FOR THE MOTOR. NOW I HAVE NO ABS AND THE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED ON THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST TIME WAS ONLY A FEW DAYS AFTER IT WAS PURCHASED. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND IT WILL COST APPROX. $900 TO REPAIR. AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION ONLINE, I HAVE FOUND SCORES OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THERE IS CURRENTLY NO RECALL IN EFFECT ACCORDING TO THIS WEBSITE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS IS A VERY CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE. NOT ONLY DOES IT RENDER THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, IT DRAINS THE BATTERY IF THE FUSE IS NOT PULLED SOON AFTER THE PROBLEM EMERGES. THIS COULD LEAVE SOMEONE STRANDED IN A VARIETY OF CONDITIONS IF THEY WERE UNABLE TO PULL THE FUSE OR NOT A FULL UNDERSTANDING OF VEHICLE ELECTRIC COMPONENTS. I AM EVEN MORE DISGUSTED THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY HAS 32,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND COST ALMOST $40,000. GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD BE FORCED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENTS AND/OR UPGRADE TO A HIGHER QUALITY UNIT FREE OF CHARGE TO THE VICTIM. *TR
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. SPEEDOMETER, FUEL GAUGE ETC, DO NOT WORK AT RANDOM TIMES. (WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, OR NOT) THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ALSO DIM, FLICKER, AND SOMETIMES GO OUT COMPLETELY. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS VERY LOW MILEAGE, (USED AS A RECREATIONAL VEHICLE, NOT PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION) IT WAS PURCHASED NEW AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED.
EXCESSIVE RUST ON FRAME OF TRUCK, OIL LINES AND GAS LINES ARE CONSTANTLY RUSTING OUT. THE TRUCK IS A GMC K-2500 H D EXTENDED CAB, 2004 WITH 34,500 MILES ON IT. PRESENTLY WAITING FOR THE COOLING LINES FROM THE OIL FILTER TO THE RADIATOR WHICH ARE LEAKING OIL ON THE EXHAUST WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE, WHEN DRAINING OIL TO CHANGE IT THE OIL [REMOVING THE PLUG] FOLLOWS ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE,ANOTHER FIRE HAZARD. WHAT CAN BE DONE, CAN'T AFFORD ANOTHER TRUCK NOW. *TR

AT FIRST MY SPEEDOMETER WOULD 'TICK' AND THAT LED TO IT JUMPING AROUND. IT STICKS IN VARIOUS PLACES, SOMETIMES DOWN TO THE RIGHT FAR OFF OF THE GAUGE ITSELF. MY TACHOMETER DOES THE SAME THING. IT HAS BEEN THIS WAY FOR A WHILE NOW, I JUST CAN'T WANT TO FORK OVER $600 TO GET IT FIXED. I HEARD THAT GM INFACT HAS AND UNPUBLISHED BULLETIN UNDER THEIR GOODWILL PROGRAM TO FIX IT - CAN THIS BE MADE TO BE A PUBLISHED BULLETIN? *TR

REGARDLESS OF TYPE OF ROAD, I.E. HIGHWAY OR CITY ROADS, AND REGARDLESS OF SPEED, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AND SHUT OFF. *TR
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSORS ON THE FRONT OF MY 2004 GMC 3500 DUALLY DIESEL WERE MALFUNCTIONING CREATING EXTENDED LOW SPEED STOPS AT A STOPLIGHT, CAUSING MANY CLOSE CALLS IN REAR ENDING ANOTHER CAR. WE SALT OUR ROADS LIKE ANY OTHER NORTHERN STATE - THIS IS ABSURD! *TR

HVAC SYSTEM WITH A/C ON DRIVERS SIDE ( ONLY) WILL GO INTO FULL HEAT , IF YOU SHUTOFF ENGINE AND RESTART SYSTEM WILL BE FINE AGAIN FOR SOMETIME, THERE IS NO SET PATTERN AS TO WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN SOMETIMES A DAY OR A WEEK SOMETIMES A MONTH. #2. DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WILL NOT WORK , LIKE ABOVE SOMETIMES IT WORKS FINE THAN IT WONT WORK FOR A FEW MINUTES OR FOR A DAY. *TR

AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE HE NOTICED THAT BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING AND THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED WHICH CAUSED IT TO BURST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,892.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 200,000.
WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED WORKING WHILE IN THE INTERM. POSITION. THEN THEY STAYED ON ALL THE TIME, EVEN WITH THE SWITCH IN OFF HAD TO PULL FUSE TO SHUT OFF WIPERS DID NOT CORRECT PROBLEM YET, IT HAPPENED TODAY (SUNDAY). *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER,OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, ALT METER, FUEL GAUGE HAVE ALL FAILED OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS. NONE OF THEM READ CORRECTLY. *TR
NOTICED I STARTED TO GET A VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEEL, TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY INSTALLED AN TBS LUBE KIT IN THE STEERING SHAFT. ABOUT A YEAR LATER THE VIBRATION IS BACK AND WORSE THAN BEFORE, CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME 300.00 PLUS LABOR. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH CERTAIN YEAR GM TRUCKS, AND EVERY DAY IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE. I FEEL MY SAFETY MIGHT BE COMPROMISED, IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY CLUSTER GAUGE OF MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 2500HD WENT BAD. BOTH MY FATHER AND BROTHER HAVE 2004 CHEVY SILVERADOS 2500HD AND THEY BOTH RECEIVED A LETTER SAYING THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER AND BOTH OF THEM HAD THEIR SPEEDOMETERS GO BAD AND CHEVY FIXED THEM. OF COURSE MINE ALSO GOES BAD AND WHEN I TAKE IT TO A GMC DEALER THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL OR DEFECT KNOWN AND WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOW I AM DRIVING WITHOUT A WORKING SPEEDOMETER WHEN GMC SHOULD FIX THE DEFECT IN MINE. I KNEW THE CLUSTER MUST HAVE BEEN GOING OUT SOON BECAUSE A MONTH PRIOR THE CLUSTER WOULD RANDOMLY RESET MY TOTAL ENGINE HOURS SO NOW I WILL NEVER EVEN KNOW HOW MANY ENGINE HOURS ON MY TRUCK EVEN WHEN I DO GET IT FIXED. I HAVE LESS THAN 60K MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT HAS HAD THE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES REPLACED ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME FAILURES. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
I HAVE RECEIVED 3 TRAFFIC(SPEEDING TICKETS) WITHIN 2 MONTH TIME FRAME. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS TO BE FAULTY. CAN YOU SEND ME SOMETHING TO HELP ME BE GRANTED ANY LENIENCY FROM THE COURTS? *TR

THE TECHNICIAN VERIFIED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED BOTH THE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL PUMP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY DASH CLUSTER IN MY 2004 GMC SIERRA 1500 HAS GONE OUT. THE 1ST TIME WAS ONLY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, BUT THE SECOND TIME, IT WAS OUT FOR OVER 2 WEEKS, I CONTACTED A DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME TO CHECK THE FUSES, WHICH I DID, BUT THEY WERE FINE, AFTER IT CAME BACK ON, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE CLUSTERS, BUT THEY WERE ONLY COVERING THEM IF THE VEHICLE WAS STILL IN WARRANTY, WELL BY THIS TIME, MY VEHICLE WAS 800 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY(BUT IF I HAD KNOWN WHEN IT WAS OUT, I WAS STILL IN WARRANTY AT THAT TIME), ANYWAY, NOW THE CLUSTER IS OUT FOR THE THIRD TIME, AND GM REFUSES TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKE TO THEM SEVERAL TIMES, AND SINCE I AM OUT OF WARRANTY, THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING, EVEN AFTER MAKING ME TAKE IT TO A DEALER TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED, WHEN THEY KNEW IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. MY OWNER'S MANUAL EVEN STATES IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO RUN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT A WORKING CLUSTER, AND I WOULD LIKE GM TO FIX SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS BAD, ON MULTIPLE YEAR VEHICLES. *TR

I BOUGHT (2) SIERRA 2500 HD TRUCKS THAT HAVE SERIOUS HUB ASSEMBLY PROBLEMS WITH ONE REPLACEMENT IN 2011, LIGHTING SYSTEM WORK WHEN IT WANT TO AND HAS DRAIN FIVE BATTERIES FROM AAA AND ADVANCE AUTO IN THE PAST SEVEN YEARS, ABS/ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON SINCE 2007 AND AFTER 10 YEARS IS GASKET PROBLEMS WITH GM PRODUCTS. I HAVE TALK TO GM EXECUTIVE OFFICE THAT FIX THE HUB ASSEMBLY AND TAILGATE RECALLS PROBLEM IN 2011 BUT UNWILLING TO DEAL WITH IT NOW AFTER TALKING TO GM DAN. I THINK I NEED OUT SIDE COUNSEL AND ENGINEERING FIRM TO TEST AND TESTIFY ON MY BEHAVE AND 2,300 OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. I WANT NEW VEHICLES AND SETTING UP A DATE WITH CONGRESSIONAL OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE, AND NHTSA REVIEW MY CASE. CALLED GM TO ASCERTAIN IF HELP FOR PROBLEM AVAILABLE. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO LAWRENCE-HALL, ABILENE, TEXAS FOR EVALUATION. LAWRENCE HALL SAYS BEARING IN DIFFERENTIAL HAS FAILED. GM REFUSES TO HELP IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER WITH THE REPAIR, AND EVEN SAYS THAT I AM LIABLE FOR THE COST OF THE EVALUATION, EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE THE ONES WHO TOLD ME TO TAKE IT THERE, AND EVEN THOUGH THEY NEVER SAID THAT THEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT. WHEN THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT THERE, THEY IMPLIED THAT THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE EVALUATION. I CONTEND THAT AT 59,000 THAT BEARING SHOULD NEVER HAVE FAILED; THAT MILLIONS OF VEHICLES GO 2, 3 AND 4 TIMES THAT DISTANCE AND NEVER HAVE THAT PROBLEM, AND THAT HAD THIS LOCKED UP, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH AND INJURY TO DRIVER, PASSENGER AND OTHERS. ALSO CONTEND THAT GM SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT IF THEY DECLINED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, THAT I WOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE. WHEN I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF, THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME 3 TIMES THAT "THE COURTESY VEHICLE IS OUT THERE WAITING FOR YOU," IMPLYING FOR ME TO HURRY UP AND GET OUT THERE, BUT THEN, AS I WAS ON MY WAY OUT THE DOOR, BROUGHT ME A CLIPBOARD AND TOLD ME TO FILL IN MY CONTACT INFO "SO WE CAN GET A HOLD OF YOU." I HANDED IT BACK TO HIM, AND HE SAID I NEEDED TO SIGN IT TO GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO WORK ON IT. BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN RUSHING ME, I SIGNED IT AND WALKED OUT. TWO DAYS LATER, WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE AUTOMATICALLY DISENGAGED OUT OF TWO WHEEL DRIVE AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE AND MOTOR. THERE HAD BEEN NO FURTHER OCCURRENCES. THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,268.
