WAS TRAVELING ON BALDWIN RD., CLERMONT COUNTY, OHIO. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO SLOW FOR A CORNER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD.I FINALLY GOT THE VEHICLE STOPPED AND I REALIZED WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I HAD A DISCUSSION WITH A MECHANIC AT MY DEALERSHIP WHILE MY TRUCK WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY ABOUT THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE LINES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RUST WAS JUST DISCOLORATION AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP ON 3/7/2014, I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE WAS NOT AWARE OF ANY INVESTIGATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 138,000.
I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL WHEN SUDDENLY THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. AFTER GETTING SAFELY OFF THE ROADWAY, I INSPECTED THE TRUCK AND SAW A LOT OF FLUID LEAKING FROM BENEATH THE REAR OF THE CARGO BED. I THEN DISCOVERED THAT A REAR BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED, APPARENTLY FROM CORROSION. I CHECKED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR AND FOUND THAT IT WAS ALMOST EMPTY. ONCE I GOT THE TRUCK TO A REPAIR SHOP I SAW THAT ALL THE TUBULAR BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAD STAINLESS STEEL LINES INSTALLED AND REPAIR COSTS EXCEEDED $1.200.00. I'VE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE IT WAS BRAND NEW AND HAVE ALWAYS KEPT IT VERY WELL MAINTAINED. *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS WALKING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND THOUGHT THE CAR WAS BEING STOLEN AS IT WAS STARTING. THERE WAS NO ONE IN THE CAR. THE CAR DID START SEVERAL TIMES ON ITS OWN SO I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY CABLE AND HAD IT SERVICED IMMEDIATELY. HOW LONG IT HAD BEEN DOING THIS I DO NOT KNOW. I DO KNOW IT HAD NOT BEEN DOING THIS ON THE PREVIOUS DAY AS I WALK BE THERE EVERY DAY AT LEAST 2 TIMES. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY TO PICK MY KIDS UP AFTER SCHOOL AND AS I APPROACHED A RED LIGHT I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. NO DASH ABS INDICATOR LIGHT OR WARNING LIGHT SHOWING ANY FAULT CODE CAME ON BEFORE OR SINCE. FORTUNATELY, I NEVER FOLLOW CLOSE IN TRAFFIC AND WAS ABLE TO STOP MY VEHICLE USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT AND NOBODY GETTING HURT. SHORTLY AFTER THIS INCIDENT I SAFELY RETURNED HOME BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. SINCE IT WAS DARK OUTSIDE WHEN I GOT HOME I LEFT ALL UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING TO TAKE A LOOK. THE FOLLOWING MORNING BEHIND MY LEFT FRONT TIRE ON THE GROUND WAS A PUDDLE THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL AND IT WAS BRAKE FLUID, I LOOKED UP AND TRACED IT TO A CORRODED/RUSTED/INFERIOR BRAKE LINE. I CALLED THE LOCAL GM DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE BY VIN FOR THIS ISSUE, SO I THEN CALLED GM CUSTOMER CARE AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD TOOK PLACE AND GM HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP IN SERVICE AND AS I AWAIT WORD ON GM'S POSITION ON WHAT THEY INTEND TO DO TO CORRECT THE ISSUE I CAME ACROSS THIS SITE AND A COUNTLESS LIST OF OTHER GM CUSTOMERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I SECURED A GM CASE NUMBER, TOOK PHOTOS OF THE CORRODED/RUSTED/INFERIOR LINES AND WILL AWAIT WHAT I HOPE WILL BE THE APPROPRIATE RESPONSE FROM GM, WHICH IS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE. APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION TO TURN LEFT ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITH VIRTUALLY NO RESISTANCE AND NO BRAKING AT ALL. THERE WAS NO WARNING AND NO MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. RETURNED TO OUR CAMPSITE USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST GM DEALER. THEY DECIDED IT WOULD BE MORE 'ECONOMICAL' TO SEND THE CORRODED AND LEAKING BRAKE LINES OUT TO A SHOP AS MODELS FOR MAKING UP NEW ONES RATHER THAN USE THE KIT IN TSB 13-05-22-001. UNFORTUNATELY IT TOOK THAT SHOP A WEEK TO DO THE WORK AND WE HAD TO RENT A CAR TO GET AROUND WHILE THE DEALER WAITED FOR PARTS, ADDING SOME $250 TO THE $1113.32 REPAIR COST. SINCE WE WERE OVER A THOUSAND MILES FROM HOME AT THE TIME WE HAD LITTLE CHOICE. *TR
2005 SIERRA 1500 4X4 I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW 01/ 2005, THE REAR SPRING SHACKLES FAILED ON 02/20/2014 DUE TO RUST, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE REAR 3FT OF FRAME IS BADLY RUSTED MAKING IT NOT ROADWORTHY. GMS POSITION IS THAT THIS IS SOMEHOW NEGLECT ON MY PART AND WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. THE BODY OF THE TRUCK IS NOT RUSTED AND STILL LOOKS GOOD. I FIND IT UNREASONABLE THAT A 9YR OLD TRUCK WITH NO BODY RUST SHOULD HAVE THE FRAME SO RUSTED AS TO MAKE IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY INCREASED IN SPEED TO APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DISPLAY PANEL READ "REDUCED POWER MODE" AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WIRE HARNESS, THE THROTTLE ACCELERATOR CONTROL MODULE, AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WERE REPAIRED. THE REPAIR FAILED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 270,000.
OIL PRESSURE GAUGE STOPPED WORKING. ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. $650.00. RIDICULOUS. *TR
TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR NEW BRAKES AND COOLANT LEAK. NO COMPLAINT ABOUT BRAKES, BUT COMPLAINT ABOUT COOLANT LEAK. COOLANT LEAK ISSUE IS CONNECTED TO GM TSB 06-06-01-019B AND AFFECTS CASTECH 706 CYLINDER HEADS. THE COOLANT IS LEAKING INTO THE HEADS BECAUSE OF A KNOWN POROSITY ISSUE. MY ENGINE WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT ADDRESSED BECAUSE OF GLYCOL CONTAMINATION. GM DEALER SAID TO JUST "KEEP AN EYE" ON IT. A SECOND, INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, DID CONFIRM THE COOLANT LEAK IS NOT EXTERNAL AND MY ENGINE WILL FAIL IF THE HEADS ARE NOT REPLACED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM FOR MANUFACTURE YEARS 2001-2006 ON THE VEHICLES WITH THE 5.3L ENGINE. *TR
WHILE PULLING A 30 FT. CAMPER AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER SUDDENLY WENT PAST 120 MPH AND STAYED . I NOW HAVE NO WAY OF DETERMINING MY SPEED . THE LOCAL DEALER SAID I WOULD HAVE TO BRING IT IN AND LEAVE IT AT LEAST 3 DAYS . *TR
AFTER PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND PROCEEDING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY, THE ABS LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING AND CHIMING ON THE DASH. I PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE HAD CORRODED THROUGH JUST ABOVE THE FUEL TANK. I CALLED THE DEALER AND HE STATED THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT FROM GM. HE SAID I NEEDED ALL BRAKE LINES REPLACED AND GM'S NEW PARTS HAD AN EXTRA COATING TO PREVENT CORROSION. IT COST ME $1100. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE SEEMS WAY TOO SOON FOR A TRUCK WITH 38,000 MILES. *TR
TRUCK WAS MAKING A "KNOCKING" NOISE UPON START. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP MECHANIC AND INFORMED, BASED ON THE NOISE AND WHERE IT'S COMING FROM, IT'S MOST LIKELY A CRACKED CYLINDER AND INFORMED THIS IS "COMMON." REALLY?? WILL COST THOUSANDS TO REPAIR ... WHICH I DON'T HAVE. FRUSTRATING TO SAY THE LEAST. IT HAS LOW MILES, SERVICED REGULARLY. IF THIS IS "COMMON" WHY WON'T GMC STEP UP AND TAKE CARE OF IT?? *TR
BRAKES FAILED TO STOP VEHICLE AT INTERSECTION/STOPLIGHT. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR AND STAYED THERE. DETERMINED THAT RUST THROUGH IN BRAKE LINE AT DRIVER SIDE OF FRAME, UNDER DRIVER SEAT, HAD ALLOWED FLUID LOSS. *TR
BRAKE LINES BLEW TO MASTER CYLINDER. *TR
FAULTY CASTECH HEADS ARE LEAKING COOLANT INTO ENGINE OIL. GM IS AWARE THAT THE 5.3L V8 ENGINES HAVE FAULTY HEADS, AND THEY REFUSE TO PLACE A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. IT IS NOT RIGHT TO NOT STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT. THE REPAIR COSTS ARE IN THE $5000 RANGE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT RETURN TO ZERO WHEN YOU STOP IF IT GOES DOWN TO 40 AND YOU DRIVE OFF DOING 40 IT READS 80. *TR
THE BRAKE LINE RUNNING FROM THE ABS MODULATOR TO THE REAR BRAKES FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA PICK UP CONSTANTLY READS THE WRONG SPEED. AT TIMES IT REGISTERS 0 MPH WHEN IM ACTUALLY DRIVING OR IT READS 120MPH WHEN STOPPED. ALSO THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS PEGGED OUT. THERE SAMES TO BE ALOT OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING ON THE YEAR AND MODEL, YOU NEED TO MAKE GM DO A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
FIRST THE FUEL GAUGE WAS ERRATIC THEN FAILED, THEN THE SPEEDOMETER PEGGED AND IS FAILING TO SHOW EVEN CLOSE TO TRUE SPEED AS IN SHOWING 100+MPH IN AN ACTUAL +/-35MPH RANGE. CIRCUMSTANCES MATCH DESCRIPTION OF COMMON PROBLEMS WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURES ON THAT MAKE AND MODEL. *TR
BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF PARKING SPACE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL FLAT TO THE FLOOR. LOST ALL BRAKING POWER AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP. BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM RUSTED LINE. *TR
BRAKE LINES HEAVILY RUSTED. LOOKS LIKE THEY WILL SOON FAIL. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR AN UNRELATED REPAIR WHEN THEY NOTICED THAT THE REAR BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED NEAR THE WHEEL WELL. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE BRAKE LINE WAS REPLACED FOR THE SAME DEFECT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. RECENTLY, I SPENT THREE DAYS PERFORMING PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA AND FOUND TWO PRIMARY ISSUES THAT SHOULDN'T BE OCCURRING ON THIS YOUNG OF A VEHICLE. THE FIRST WAS ROTTED SECTIONS OF BRAKE LINE (SUPPOSED TO BE STAINLESS STEEL) IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE (THE MAIN LINE THAT COMES BACK FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER) AND THE SECOND ISSUE WAS A LEAKING SEAL IN THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THERE IS A CONSIDERABLE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WHO HAVE QUALIFIED FOR A RECALL OR WORK TO BE DONE UNDER A TECHNICAL BULLETIN, BUT APPARENTLY MY VIN LIES OUTSIDE OF THE ACCEPTABLE RANGE. *TR
WHEN OPERATING AT LOW SPEEDS,I WOULD TURN THE WHEEL TO LEFT AND STEERING FELT SLUGGISH,FELT LIKE A RUBBING AND FEELS LIKE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. BROUGHT TO LOCAL GARAGE, THEY WERE ABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM BUT HAD SOLUTIONS. THEY CHECKED POWER STEERING PUMP, BRAKE SENSORS, SERPENTINE BELT, FLUIDS...ALL CHECKED OUT FINE. *TR
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 85 TIRE BLEW DUE TO HIGHWAY ROAD AND FAULTY WHEEL HUB, STEERING CAPABILITY , SUSPENSION ON THE TRUCK. IT SPILT THE BUMPER AND SHATTERED MIRROR AND HIT MY ARM. I ALMOST LOST TOTAL CONTROL OF THE TRUCK IT DID A LOT OF DAMAGE. THE FRONT ENDS ON THESE TRUCKS HAVE BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE TO A LOT OF PEOPLE. THEY DON'T LAST DUE TO CHEAP PARTS I ASSUME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 10 MPH AND AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES, BRAKE FLUID DISCHARGED FROM THE BRAKING SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 3500 CREWCAB WITH LESS THAN 77,000 MILES ON IT EXPERIENCED A RUPTURED BRAKELINE. AS I COMMENCED GOING OUT MY DRIVEWAY THE BRAKE PEDAL FELT MUSHY THEN WENT TO THE FLOOR. THANK-GOODNESS THIS HAPPENED IN MY DRIVEWAY OPPOSED TO OUT ON THE ROAD! BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND ROTTED THROUGH CAUSING A RUPTURE IN THE LINE AND BRAKE FAILURE. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT ROUTINELY DRIVEN BUT USED FOR HAULING A HORSE TRAILER, TRIPS OR SERVER WEATHER WINTER DRIVING; THUS THE LOW MILEAGE FOR IT'S AGE. CANNOT HAUL A THING WITHOUT BRAKES AS THE UNDERSIZED BRAKING SYSTEM ON THIS TRUCK BARELY STOPS ITSELF UNDER NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS. IT IS KEPT CLEAN, DRY AND STORED IN AN OPEN FRONT BUILDING. SINCE MY INCIDENT A FRIEND OF MINE WITH A VERY SIMILAR TRUCK (MAYBE A YEAR OR 2 NEWER) EXPERIENCED THE SAME SCENARIO. FORTUNATELY, THEIRS HAPPENED AS THEY WERE BACKING UP TO PARK AT A CAMPGROUND AND NOT OUT ON THE ROAD EITHER. *LN UPDATED 1/8/2103 *JS
WHILE DRIVING FORWARD IN TRAFFIC WHEN CAR CUT IN FRONT FROM THE NEXT LANE TO THE RIGHT. THIS REQUIRED EMERGENCY BRAKING, BUT MY SPEED WAS SLOW AND TRUCK SHOULD HAVE STOPPED WITHIN THE SPACE AVAILABLE AND THE TRUCK BRAKES SEEMED TO FEEL AS IF THEY RELEASED ON THEIR OWN. DAMAGE OCCURRED TO THE CAR I REAR ENDED AND THEY REAR-ENDED A CAR IN FRONT OF THEM. DAMAGE TO ALL 3 VEHICLES WAS LIGHT ENOUGH THAT ALL WERE DRIVEN AWAY AFTER CRASH. ON THE WAY HOME I NOTICED THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND LOST STOPPING POWER SHORTLY AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL EACH TIME. AFTER A 2 MILE TRIP HOME LIKE THIS I CHECK THE BRAKE FLUID AND FOUND IT LOW. THEN I SAW FLUID ON THE GROUND AND FOUND THE BRAKE LINE WAS DRIPPING BRAKE FLUID. IT APPEARS TO HAVE RUPTURED FROM THE PRESSURE OF THE FLUID INSIDE. THE LINES WERE ALSO SERIOUSLY CORRODED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM IN MATERIALS AND MY 1985 SUBURBAN SHOWS ALMOST NO SIGNS OF CORROSION ON THE BRAKE LINES AND IS 20 YEARS OLDER. I WAS TICKETED FOR RECKLESS DRIVING FOR NOT STOPPING BECAUSE THE CAR THAT CUT IN FRONT MADE IT ALL THE WAY TO THE CENTER OF THE LANE BEFORE I STRUCK IT. THAT CAR WAS BEHIND ME AND WENT AROUND ME AND CUT IN FRONT BECAUSE I WAS ?DRIVING TOO SLOW? ACCORDING TO HER. I HAD LEFT TWO TO THREE FULL CAR LENGTHS IN FRONT OF ME AND THIS BOTHERED HER. I HAD A GOOD AMOUNT OF DISTANCE TO STOP THE TRUCK EVEN AFTER SHE CUT IN FRONT, BUT THE TRUCK WAS UNABLE DUE TO THE LINE BREAKING WHEN I PUSHED THE PEDAL HARD. THE LINE SHOULD BE ABLE TO WITHSTAND THAT PRESSURE. *TR
2005 GMC 2500HD WITH 6.0 LITER GAS MOTOR. LEFT AND RIGHT BANK EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO ENGINE BOLTS BROKEN OFF IN HEAD. LEAKING EXHAUST FUMES AND CAUSING MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. GM NEED TO HAVE A RECALL ON THIS DUE TO THE NUMBER OF VEHICLES OUT THERE WITH THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS ALSO AN EMISSION PROBLEM DUE TO IT WILL CAUSE THE CAT CONVERTER TO OVERHEAT.. EPA? THANK YOU *TR
HELPED FRIEND WITH PLUMBING PROBLEM, AS I BACKED OUT HIS DRIVE WAY BRAKES SEEMED A LITTLE SOFT. AT FIRST STOP SIGN BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN ABOUT 1/4 MORE ON TRAVEL THAN NORMAL. AT NEXT STOP SIGN A CAR WAS ALREADY STOPPED, I APPLIED MY BRAKES, PEDAL TO FLOOR, NO BRAKES AT ALL. DROPPED TRANSMISSION INTO FIRST GEAR, SLOWED SOME. THE CAR AT STOP SIGN LUCKILY PROCEEDED ON THRU. I WAS NOT ABLE TO MAKE A COMPLETE STOP, AND ROLLED THRU THE STOP SIGN. JUST ABOUT HIT ANOTHER CAR. I WAS ABLE TO NURSE TRUCK HOME. I HAVE A GARAGE AT HOME WITH A CAR LIFT IN IT. THIS MODEL GMC SIERRA TRUCK HAS A KNOWN PROPENSITY FOR FAILURE OF THE WINDSHIELD WASHER MECHANISM. WHEREAS THIS HAS NOT CAUSED ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT IT HAS RESULTED IN AN UNSAFE CONDITION AS WHEN VISION OBSCURED BY DUST OR MUD. THE WASHER RESERVOIR IS LOCATED IN A VERY TIGHT SPACE BETWEEN THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE BATTERY. MY WASHER STARTED TO LEAK AFTER I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED. EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOPPING UP THE FLUID I KEPT GETTING A LOW WASHER FLUID WARNING LIGHT. EVENTUALLY I NOTICED THAT WHEN REFILLING ALL OF THE WASHER FLUID LEAKS OUT ONTO THE GROUND BENEATH THE TRUCK. I NOTE THAT WHEN REPLACING THE BATTERY IT WOULD BE VERY EASY TO STRIKE THE WASHER MECHANISM. THIS CAN CRACK THE RESERVOIR, DISLODGE A HOSE, OR CAUSE A GASKET IN THE DEVICE TO FAIL. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITH CERTAINTY AS GMC REFUSES TO DIAGNOSE THIS SAFETY CONCERN FREE OF CHARGE. I BELIEVE THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE OF THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURER EVEN IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I BELIEVE THAT THE WINDSHIELD WASHER MECHANISM IS OF FLIMSY CONSTRUCTION AND, BY VIRTUE OF ITS LOCATION, IS PRONE TO DAMAGE WHEN REPLACING THE BATTERY. *TR
