2005 GMC SIERRA 1500 EXT CAB 4X4 33K MILES ALL BRAKE LINES ARE ROTTED AND ONE HAS A HOLE. PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND ALMOST DIDN'T STOP IN TIME. *TR

BROKEN FRAME ON THE FRONT BY THE FRONT SHOCK MOUNT I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL ON OTHER 2500 AND 3500 SERIES GMC AND CHEVROLET MODELS I HAVE HAD TO WELD AND PLATE THE FRAMES ON 2 OF MY OWN TRUCKS. *TR
SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING. IT IS STICKING ON 15 MILES PER HOUR OR SOMETIMES 60 MILES PER HOUR. CANNOT TELL WHAT SPEED I AM GOING. *TR

I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500HD PICKUP. THE SPEEDOMETER ON THIS VEHICLE IS STARTING TO GO BAD AND WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT WILL GRADUALLY LOOSE INDICATED SPEED AND THEN EVENTUALLY GO TO ZERO. I AM AWARE THAT THERE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL OUT FOR THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM, BUT I HAD MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP AND FOR SOME REASON MY VIN # DOES NOT FALL INTO THE RECALL LIST SO I HAVE NOT GOT IT REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. GAUGE CLUSTER FOR MY 2005 GMC SIERRA IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. SPEEDOMETER, ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE & TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAUGES STICK, FLUTTER, OR BECOME INOPERATIVE CAUSING INACCURATE READINGS. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL GAUGE ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500 CREW CAB ARE ERRATIC AND OCCASIONALLY NON OPERATIVE. SPEEDO READS 120 MPH AT TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED. SOMETIMES DOES NOT READ AT ALL, STAYS AT ZERO WHEN DOING FREEWAY SPEEDS. FUEL GAUGE READS EMPTY WHEN 1/4 TANK, THEN AFTER A RESTART WILL SHOW PROPER(?) LEVEL. *TR
05 GMC SIERRA SPEEDOMETER ERRATIC AT FIRST,15,000 ML.,NOW AT 62,000 ML. DOESN'T WORK. I WAS GOING 50 AT A STOP SIGN. I HAVE MY OWN BUSINESS AND PULL TRAILERS W/ EQUIPMENT AND THE RIGHT SPEED IS CRITICAL FOR THE TOWING WEIGHTS. THE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES WILL NEVER TAKE A FAULTY SPEEDOMETER AS A REASON FOR GOING OVER THE SPEED LIMIT. INTERSTATE DRIVING IS AT A MINIMUM BECAUSE GOING WITH THE FLOW WILL MEAN OVER HEATING OF THE SMALL TRAILER TIRES ON THE TILT BED TRAILER. NO ACTION YET IT JUST QUIT TODAY,1-4-2010 , AND I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT TO ADD TO THE NUMBERS OF OTHERS THAT HAVE ALREADY FILED. *TR
WE OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA AND THE SPEEDOMETER HAS GONE OUT. WAS INFORMED IT IS AN INTERNAL GAUGE CLUSTER THAT HAS GONE OUT AND IT WILL TAKE $400-$600 TO FIX IT. I HAVE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH TRUCKS SINCE AT LEAST 2007. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS AND THE CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS TO BE FIXED. GMC REFUSES TO DO A RECALL AND SAYS THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. *TR
SPEEDOMETER HAS SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. I HAVE LEARNED THERE IS A RECALL FOR MODEL YEARS 2003-2004. SEEMS LIKE THE PROBLEM MAY EXTEND TO FURTHER YEARS. *TR
2005 GMC SIERRA K2500 PICKUP TRUCK. PROBLEM - BRAKES FADE WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. BRAKES WORK FINE UNTIL VEHICLE SLOWS TO 5-10MPH AT WHICH TIME BRAKE PEDAL LOSES PRESSURE - UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCE BY 10-15 FEET CREATING HAZARDOUS CONDITION. ATTEMPTED RESOLUTION - REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS AT OWN EXPENSE. PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. WENT TO DEALERAND DISCOVERED THAT THIS IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM RELATED TO THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SENSORS LOCATED IN EACH WHEEL ASSEMBLY. THEY CLAIM THIS BRAKING SYSTEM FAILURE IS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND NOT A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT OR FAULTY DESIGN... MY PROBLEM IS THIS - IF THE DEALER (AND, BY EXTENSION, THE MANUFACTURER) KNOWS THAT THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS GOING TO START FAILING AFTER A FEW YEARS OF OPERATION, THEN HOW IS THIS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND NOT A DESIGN DEFECT??? THIS IS CLEARLY AN EXAMPLE OF A MANUFACTURER PUTTING OUT A PRODUCT THAT THEY KNOW WILL FAIL IN TIME AND, THUS, CREATE A HAZARDOUS SAFETY CONDITION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME NON-FUNCTIONAL AND FAILED TO DISPLAY THE SPEED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED HER SPEEDOMETER WAS INCORRECTLY READING 16.2 MPH AND THEN THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS CURRENTLY DISPLAYING A ERROR MESSAGE. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE ESTIMATED REPAIR COST WAS $1,000. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000
I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM FILING THE COMPLAINT BECAUSE I HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO BOB JEANNOTTE PONTIAC-GMC TRUCK, INC., PLYMOUTH, MI 48170 (734) 453-2500 TO HAVE AN INSPECTION FOR RUSTED BRAKE LINES AS WELL AS RUSTED FRAME ON THE ABOVE LISTED INCIDENT DATE. MY INVOICE # IS GCCS189900 AND MY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE PROVIDED CASE # IS 71-784-24265. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE CONDITIONS BY THE DEALER REP. THIS VEHICLE IS HAVING CONTINUAL RUST PROBLEMS TO BOTH THE BRAKE LINES AND FRAME. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT AS I UNDERSTAND THERE IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM UP TO YEAR 2003 AND WOULD LIKE MY VEHICLE YEAR TO BE INCLUDED IN THESE INVESTIGATION ISSUES.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP TRUCK. WHILE DRIVING, HE COULD SMELL A BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER FOUND THAT THERE WAS A SHORTAGE AND A MELTED HARNESS ASSEMBLY. THE BLOWER RESISTOR AND HARNESS ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED AT THE OWNER'S EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD ONLY OFFER A 15,000 MILE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 48,198. UPDATED 02/23/10. *LJ UPDATED 08/12/10*JB
MY SPEEDOMETER FAILED IN DEC OF 2009 ON MY GMC SIERRA PICKUP. IN THE COLD IT ALWAYS REGISTERS 0 MPH AND WILL START TO WORK AFTER AN HOUR ON THE ROAD. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THE ACCURATE SPEED DRIVEN. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY FOR THE SPEEDOMETER IS COVERED UP TO 75000 MILES AND THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 86000 MILES WHICH WAS THE CURRENT MILEAGE. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500HD. THE CONTACT STATED THT THE VEHICLE LUNGED TEN FEET WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL UPON COMING TO A STOP SIGN. EXTRA EFFORT WAS REQUIRED TO STOP WHICH INCREASED THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE ABS FUSE WAS REMOVED BASED ON ADVICE BY A MECHANIC. AFTER REMOVAL OF THE FUSE, THE PROBLEM STOPPED; WHEN THE FUSE WAS REINSTALLED, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TKANE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE BRAKES WERE FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT.
I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500HD, THE SPEEDOMETER HAD BEEN MESSING UP BUT ALL THE OTHER GAUGES WORK FINE. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL SHOP THINKING IT WAS A LOOSE OR BROKEN CABLE. THE SHOP FOREMAN LAUGHED AND SAID THAT CHEVROLET/GMC HAS HAD A RASH OF THE CLUSTERS GO BAD, AND THAT HE ALONE HAS REPLACED 5 IN THE PAST MONTH. IF THIS IS THE CASE, I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE $553.50 THAT I HAD TO PAY TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE COMPANY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. DURING BRAKE APPLICATION BETWEEN 10-12 MPH THE ABS ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARRANT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DRIVER-SIDE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WAS CLEANED, BECAUSE OF CORROSION . THE TECHNICIAN SPECULATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR WOULD REQUIRE REPLACEMENT IN THE FUTURE. AFTER THE REPAIR THE FAILURE RESURFACED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,433. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,453.
SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING AND GOES BELOW THE O MPH. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY AFTER AROUND 15 MILES OR SO OF DRIVING. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER OF MY GMC SIERRA 1500 IS ERRATIC WHEN IT IS WET OUTSIDE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED AND THE IGNITION KEY IS IN MY POCKET THE SPEEDOMETER READS ANYWHERE FROM 40 TO 50 MPH. WHILE DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER INDICATES UP TO 120 MPH. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS SAFETY CONCERN BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE. A SEARCH OF YOUR DATABASE INDICATES MANY COMPLAINTS. SPEEDOMETER STICKS AND DOESN'T RETURN TO 0 AND CONTINUES TO RISE EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE ACCELERATES UNTIL THE SPEEDOMETER IS PEGGED OUT AND THEN IT STICKS THERE. *TR
SUDDEN PROBLEMS WITH SPEEDOMETER. SPEEDOMETER STARTS AT BETWEEN 35 AND 60 MPH AT A COMPLETE STOP THEN GOES UP FROM THERE WELL PAST 120MPH WHEN TRAVELING NO FASTER THEN 60MPH. ALSO DOES NOT MOVE SMOOTHLY BUT RATHER VERY JUMPY. THIS IS A VERY WELL MAINTAINED TRUCK WITH 54K MILES ON IT. *TR
SPEEDOMETER OPERATION ERRATIC. IT SUDDENLY READS AT HALF THE ACTUAL SPEED (COMPARED TO GPS READING). THEN IT READS ZERO. OTHER GAUGES AND CRUISE CONTROL FUNCTION. WORKED FINE AFTER A RESTART BUT THEN IT STARTED READING ERRATICALLY AGAIN. *TR
2005 GMC SIERRA PICK UP TRUCK. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WILL NOT GO BACK TO '0' WHEN I AM STOPPED, WHICH CAUSES THE SPEEDOMETER TO READ WRONG MPH WHEN DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MORE AND MORE SINCE IT FIRST BEGAN. IT STARTED FOR NO APPARENT REASON APPROXIMATELY 6 - 7 MONTHS AGO. DEALER WAS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT I AM PAST ANY WARRANTIES OUT THERE. APPROXIMATE COST TO ME TO FIX FROM THE DEALER IS $500. I CAN'T AFFORD THIS. HOWEVER, BASED UPON NUMBER OF POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET, IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE A RECALL IS IN ORDER. *TR
MY SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING AROUND 78,000 MILES. SLOWLY BUT SURELY ALL MY OTHER GAUGES HAVE QUIT WORKING OVER TIME. THE RPM GAUGE, SPEEDOMETER, OIL TEMP, AND GAS GAUGE. ONLY ONE WORKS NOW. THE REST EITHER DON'T WORK OR FLUCTUATE BACK AND FORTH. I WOULD HAVE REPORTED THIS EARLIER IF I KNEW ABOUT THIS SITE. IT'S NOT THE FIRST COMPLAINT SO THERE IS SOMETHING UP WITH THESE MODELS. THEY SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY THE DEALERS. I WON'T EVER BUY ANOTHER GMC VEHICLE. THAT'S FOR SURE. *TR
REPLACED EVERY MODULE IN THE HEATER SYSTEM IN MY 05 GMC SIERRA SEVERAL TIMES, AND SO HAS JUST ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE I KNOW WHO OWNS ONE. NOW MY WIRING HARNESS BURNED WITHOUT BLOWING ANY FUSES. GM SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS, AND FIND THE PROBLEMS, AND FIX THEM, BEFORE EVERYONE WHO OWNS ONE GOES BROKE REPAIRING THEM. *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY GMC TRUCK KEEPS ON GETTING STUCK. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY OTHER GMC AND CHEVROLET OWNERS THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT IT IS IN THE BRAIN OF THE VEHICLE. IT HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY THE MOST. IF I DON'T KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING I AM I AM CREATING POTENTIAL HAZARD. IF THE SPEED LIMIT IS THE RECOMMENDED SAFE SPEED. I DON'T KNOW IF I AM IN COMPLIANCE. NOT ONLY IS IT A SAFETY ISSUE IT IS ALSO A FINANCIAL RISK IN TERMS OF TICKETS. ALL CHEVROLET AND GMC TRUCK OWNERS I KNOW HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS TO THE LOWER RESISTOR MELTED, BEGAN SMOKING WHICH CAUSED THE BLOW MOTOR TO MALFUNCTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT SINCE THERE WERE NO RECALLS THEY ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FEELS THE SAFETY RISK CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED THAT THEY WOULD GRADUALLY NEED MORE BRAKING DISTANCE BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 39391.
2005 GMC SIERRA SPEEDOMETER IS ERRATIC OR DOES NOT WORK. *TR
THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER'S PRESSURE ACCUMULATOR CRACKED AND /OR SEPARATED FROM THE HYDRO-BOOST ASSEMBLY DURING NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATING CONDITIONS. THE PRESENCE OF THIS CRACK OR FRACTURED SURFACE ALLOWED THE HYDRAULIC FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE ACCUMULATOR CIRCUIT OF THE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY. THE LOSS OF FLUID CAUSED INCREASED STEERING AND BRAKING EFFORT. *TR
THE CONNECTOR THAT PLUGS INTO THE BLOWER MOTOR UNDER THE GLOVE BOX BECAME TOO HOT AND MELTED THE PLASTIC RESULTING IN THE A/C AND HEAT NOT TO WORK (THIS INCLUDES THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER). I'VE BEEN LOOKING UP PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM WITH GMC AND CHEVY TRUCKS YET THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY RECALL, IN FACT THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE AN EXTREMELY OVERPRICED KIT TO FIX THEIR FAULTY WIRING. ABOUT 66,000 MI. *TR
WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN FAN SWITCH AND FAN MOTOR GET VERY HOT AT THE CONNECTION AND MELTS THE CONNECTION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SLID A SMALL DISTANCE. THE CONTACT THEN PUMPED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FLEX HOSES LINES FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE ABS PUMP TO THE REAR CALIPERS WOULD ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. ON JUNE 5, 2009, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED INACCURATE READINGS. THE SPEEDOMETER READ 120 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY BEING DRIVEN 45 MPH. THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS FAILURES WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
GMC SIERRA 2005 SPEEDEMOTER BAD, CANNOT TELL WHAT SPEED I'AM GOING. 37.000 MILES ON TRUCK... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 GMC 3500 TRUCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE HIS HOME WITH THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. WHILE INSIDE THE HOME, HE HEARD AN UNUSUALLY LOUD EXPLOSION. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED AND THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED ACCORDINGLY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD FURTHER INVESTIGATE FAILURE AND HAVE FAILED TO DO SO. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO LOCATE A RECALL FOR HER YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL DESCRIBING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE FIRE BUT WAS UNAWARE IF HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. ACCORDING TO THE FIRE REPORT, THE FIRE WAS MOST LIKELY CAUSED BY A POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK IN THE LEFT FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE POWER STEERING FLUID LINES OR LINE CONNECTION. TRUCK WITH A FULL-SIZE CAMPER WAS PARKED FOR LESS THAN 5 MIN. BEFORE IT BLEW UP AND BURNED UP. NORTH AMERICAN TECHNICAL & FORENSIC SERVICES EXAMINED THE TRUCK AND DETERMINED THAT THE CAUSE WAS A POWERSTEERING FLUID LEAK IN THE LEFT FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT AT THE POWERSTEERING FLUID LINE OR LINE CONNECTIONS. AFTER THE FIRE, I CONTACTED GM REGARDING THE INCIDENT AND ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY RECORD OF THIS TYPE OF FIRE AND THEY SAID NO. HOWEVER, IN CHECKING THE RECALLS, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR POWERSTEERING LEAKAGE. GM THEN FILED BANKRUPTCY. *TR

WITHOUT WARNING, THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT IS AWARE OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 92,000.
FOR ALMOST A YEAR NOW THE BRAKES "DROP OUT" OR ESSENTIALLY QUIT SLOWING THE TRUCK BELOW 10 MPH. EXTRA EFFORT IS REQUIRED TO STOP. THIS HAS CAUSED NUMEROUS NEAR MISS REAR END COLLISIONS. WHEN TOWING AN 8000 POUND TRAILER THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD. I REMOVED THE ABS BRAKE FUSE ON THE ADVICE OF A TECH AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED IMMEDIATELY. WITH THE FUSE REINSTALLED THE PROBLEM RETURNS. *TR
MULTIPLE REPORTS TO THE DEALERSHIP OF A CONTINUOUS VIBRATION AND NOISE IN THE FRONT END ACCOMPANIED BY UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. TIRES WERE ROTATED REDUCING BUT NOT ELIMINATING THE NOISE. THREE TO FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS WAS REQUESTED FROM ME BY THE DEALERSHIP TO REMOVE AND DISASSEMBLE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THIS REQUEST WAS DENIED BY ME BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WITHIN 1100 MILES AND TWO WEEKS OF LAST INSPECTION BY DEALERSHIP, FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL BEARING CATASTROPHICALLY FAILED. DURING THIS EVENT THE VEHICLE BECAME NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE AND DOVE INTO THE ONCOMING LANE, STEERING WAS VIOLENTLY REACTIVE AND THE VEHICLE ENDED UP TRAVELING OFF THE ROAD INTO THE DITCH IN THE OF THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. THE BRAKE ROTOR AND CALIPER HAD BECOME RED HOT SETTING FIRE TO THE DRIVE AXEL BOOT AND GRASS BENEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE WAS ABLE TO BE QUICKLY EXTINGUISHED. DEATH AND/OR INJURY WERE ONLY AVOIDED DUE TO THE LACK OF TRAFFIC IN THE ONCOMING LANE AND NO OBSTRUCTIONS IN THE AREA OF THE DITCH WITHIN WHICH THE VEHICLE TRAVELED. RESULTS OF BEARING FAILURE INCLUDE DESTROYED BRAKE ROTOR, CALIPER AND PADS. THE FRONT DRIVE AXEL WAS PURGED OF GREASE THROUGH EXTREME HEATING AND AXEL BOOT WAS ALSO DESTROYED. ALTHOUGH REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED BY THE DEALERSHIP I HAVE INCURRED A 300 DOLLAR TOWING BILL WHICH THE DEALERSHIP, GENERAL MOTORS, AND THE WARRANTY COMPANY GMPP ARE REFUSING TO COVER. THE DEALERSHIP IS CLAIMING THAT THERE IS NO DIAGNOSTIC METHOD OF INSPECTION TO PREDICT EMINENT WHEEL BEARING FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE ISSUE AND SUPPORTS IT'S DEALERSHIPS PRACTICES. THE WARRANTY COMPANY IS ONLY ACCEPTING LIABILITY OF 50 DOLLARS FOR TOWING WHICH I HAVE HAD TO PAY 300 DOLLARS FOR. *TR

AFTER RETURNING FROM A DAY OF SHOPPING, I PARKED MY TRUCK AT THE BACK, LIKE ALWAYS. I HAD BEEN NOTICING OIL SPOTS FOR THE LAST FEW DAYS BUT CHALKED IT UP TO AGE AND MILEAGE OF THE TRUCK. AFTER ABOUT TWO HOURS I SAW SMOKE FROM THE BACK AREA WHERE I PARKED. I RAN OUTSIDE TO CATCH TO MY SURPRISE! MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE, I AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, GRABBED THE GARDEN HOSE AND PUT OUT THE FIRE! I REALIZED AS I LOOKED, THAT THE FIRE HAD STARTED AT THE AREA UNDER THE HOOD WHERE THE FUSES, AND WIRING WERE LOCATED. AS I SLOWLY REBUILT MY TRUCK, I REALIZED THAT THE FIRE WAS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM THAT I HAD! THE FACT OF THE MATTER WAS THAT IF THE FIRE HAD NOT SHUT MY TRUCK DOWN, THERE WERE A WHOLE ARRAY OF OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I WOULD OF HAD TO REPAIR.
HELLO, MY COMPLAINT IS THAT GM PLACED AN UNDERSIZED TRANSMISSION (4L60E) IN THE POPULAR CREW CAB 1/2 TON TRUCKS AND I AM REQUESTING FOR NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND MAKE A RECALL. MY TRUCK IS A 2005 GMC SIERRA SLE Z71 CREW CAB (K1500) WITH ONLY 76K+ MILES AND HAS THE 4L60/65E TRANSMISSION. THIS 4L60E TRANSMISSION IS ALSO USED IN GM TRUCKS COLORADO & CANYON AND WORKS GOOD FOR THESE SMALLER TRUCKS BUT IN THE LARGER SILVERADO & SIERRA CREW CABS THE TRANSMISSION WEARS OUR THE 3-4 CLUTCH PREMATURELY DUE TO THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. THIS IS A BAD DESIGN AND GM HAS FIXED IT IN THE 2007+ CREW CAB TRUCKS BY USING A 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION INSTEAD OF THE PREVIOUS 4-SPEED. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY TRANSMISSION SLIPPED IN 4TH GEAR. I SHIFTED TO 3RD GEAR AND TRANSMISSION CONTINUED TO SLIP. THIS WAS DURING RUSH HOUR AND I WAS GOING 65 MPH. I HAD TO WAIT FOR TRAFFIC TO CLEAR ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE SO I COULD GET TO THE SHOULDER WHILE I HAD SEVERAL CARS BEHIND ME WAITING. MY TRUCK COULD NO LONGER HOLD SPEEDS ABOVE 50 MPH WITHOUT SLIPPING THE TRANSMISSION. I COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE MY TRUCK COULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS IS A POTENTIAL HAZARD. I HAD THE TRUCK TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD I NEED A REBUILD AND THE MOST IT WOULD COST ME IS $3K TO FIX. I SAID NO THANKS AND PAID THE $45 DIAGNOSES FEE. I TOLD THEM WHY IF I DO NOT TOW WITH MY TRUCK AND DRIVE PASSIVE TO GET THE BEST MILEAGE AND SOME HOW MY TRANSMISSION NEEDS A REBUILD AT ONLY 76K MILES? THIS SHOULD NOT BE. I HAVE A 10 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 193K MILES AND IT HAS NEVER HAD A TRANSMISSION REBUILD. I HAVE CALLED GM AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO RECALL AND THERE IS NO TRANSMISSION PROBLEM BUT I DISAGREE. I ASKED THE DEALER TO PROVIDE ME WITH HOW MANY TRANSMISSION REBUILDS THEY HAVE DONE AND THEY SAY THEY DO NOT TRACK THIS INFORMATION. THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT GIVE GM ANY FEEDBACK ON HOW MANY REPAIRS THEY DO TO CARS OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
