TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE DASHBOARD. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A MAGNETIC SWITCH SHORTAGE. 2005 GMC 2500HD ABS SLOW STOPPING PROBLEMS DUE TO PROBABLY SENSOR CORROSION,SAME AS WHAT WAS DESCRIBED AND SUPPOSED TO BE CORRECTED IN EARLIER YEAR MODELS. LIVE IN MAINE HEAVY ROAD SALTING STARTED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 3500. WHENEVER THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED WITH THE GEAR SHIFTER PLACED IN THE "NEUTRAL" POSITION; THE PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN OF THE POTENTIAL SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,000.
BRAKE PEDAL 'SINKS' A BIT TOWARD FLOOR, ON SLOW STOPS, JUST BEFORE CAR COMES TO A STOP. OCCURS ON ALMOST EVERY STOP, BRAKES INSPECTED AND DISCS AND PADS ARE OKAY. *TR
I'M CURRENTLY AT 84,000 MILES ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA, AND WHEN STOPPED WITH THE TRUCK IN PARK MY SPEEDOMETER IS SHOWING 90MPH THEN PROCEEDS UP FROM THERE WHILE DRIVING. I THINK THERE'S SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WITH THE SAME YEAR MODEL VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BY GM. ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. TALKED TO A DEALER ABOUT GETTING IT FIXED THEY TOLD ME IT WAS GOING TO COST 300 FOR THE PART, AND 200 DOLLARS TO HAVE IT PROGRAMMED.... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE LEFT FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE HAD BEGUN TO WOBBLE. MOMENTS LATER, THE TIRE HAD SUDDENLY LOCKED, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WHEEL BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 60000.
SPEEDOMETER WAS INTERMITTENTLY STICKING. (NEEDLE WOULD JUMP UP OR DOWN, NOT ROTATE SMOOTHLY WITH SPEED CHANGES. THIS PROBLEM LASTED APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS. THEN STARTED READING HIGH OR LOW BY UP TO 50MPH. THIS LASTED APPROXIMATELY 4 DAYS. THEN NEEDLE ROLLED OVER PAST THE 120 MARK AND STUCK THERE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE YET. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 66,000 MILES ON MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED READING 70 MPH WHILE THE TRUCK WAS STOPPED, AND ROSE FROM THERE AS IT ACCELERATED. THE CONDITION PERSISTED FOR ABOUT ONE WEEK; EACH TIME THE TRUCK WAS RESTARTED, THE SPEEDOMETER RESET ITSELF TO A LOWER STARTING SPEED, UNTIL IT READ ZERO AGAIN WHEN STOPPED. IT IS BEHAVING NORMALLY NOW, BUT THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE, AND GM HAS NOT PROVIDED OTHER OWNERS ANY RELIEF IF THE VEHICLE IS PAST ITS WARRANTY PERIOD. SOMETHING AS BASIC AND NECESSARY TO DRIVING SAFETY AS SPEEDOMETER FUNCTION SHOULD, IN MY OPINION, BE DESIGNED TO LAST THE VEHICLE'S ENTIRE INTENDED LIFESPAN WITHOUT SYSTEMIC FAILURE. *TR

I BOUGHT MY GMC SIERRA 2500 IN JUNE OF 2005. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK I STARTED TO NOTICE RUST ON THE TRAILER HITCH AND FRAME RAILS. AS THE YEARS HAVE GONE BY, THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE IS RUSTED OVER. OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS A BRAKE LINE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE BRAKE PADS & ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. I WAS LUCKY TO BE PICKING MY TRUCK UP FROM THE SHOP AFTER AN OIL CHANGE & NOT DRIVING IT, WHEN I NOTICED BRAKE FLUID ON THE GROUND UNDER MY TRUCK.MY SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY & THE DASHBOARD LIGHTING WORKS OCCASIONALLY. MY TRAILER HITCH RUSTED SO BAD THAT THE LAST TIME I PUT THE RECEIVER INTO THE HITCH IT WAS STUCK & I HAD TO GET A FRIEND TO CONNECT A CHAIN TO HIS TRUCK & WHILE I DROVE FORWARD & HE REVERSED, THE RECEIVER FINALLY BROKE FREE AFTER APPROX. 10 MINUTES. *TR
AFTER 70,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. IT WILL READ 120 GOING 70 OR READ 20 GOING 50. SO ITS READING TOO HIGH AND TOO LOW. ALSO IT SEEMS IT IS STARTING TO HAVE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES AS WELL. *TR

SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AT 20000 MILES. IT WAS WORKING FINE THEN STARTED TO WORK ONLY OCCASIONALLY AND HAS NOW COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. WE HAVE NOT HAD IT REPAIRED AS OF YET. IT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE NOT KNOWING WHAT SPEED YOU ARE TRAVELING AT, PLUS CAN RESULT IN TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS CAUSING YOUR INSURANCE TO INCREASE. *TR
WIRING HARNESS FROM BLOWER MOTOR TO RESISTOR PACK LOCATED IN THE HEATER COIL AREA UNDER THE DASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. THIS WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER ONCE OR TWICE BEFORE AS FAR AS WE CAN SEE. *TR
2005 GMC SIERRA SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION. DEALERSHIP STATES A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AT LESS THAN 15 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER READ 40 MILES OVER THE ACTUAL MILEAGE TRAVELED. THE MANUFACTURER INITIATED A SAFETY IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN TO CORRECT THE FAILURE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BUT THE MILEAGE ON HIS VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE OF THE MANUFACTURER'S REQUIREMENTS. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNDER 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNDER 90,000. UPDATED 12/07/09 *BF UPDATED 12/09/09.*JB
I HAVE A 2005 GMC SIERRA Z71, ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING IN THE COUNTRY ONLY TO GLANCE DOWN AND SEE 95 MILES PER HOUR, I BRAKED HARD ONLY TO REALIZE I WASN'T GOING THAT FAST. AFTER PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER READ 35 AT A COMPLETE STOP. SINCE THEN IT HAS WORKED SOME DAYS OTHER DAYS IT WILL NOT READ BEYOND 50 MILES PER HOUR OR IT WILL BE SOME BIZARRE READING. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK FOR 3YRS 6 MONTHS IT HAS AROUND 31,500 MILES UNDER MILEAGE WARRANTY OF 36,000 MILES BUT 6 MONTHS PAST THE TIME WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CONTACT RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO COAST. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED. SHE SHIFTED THE GEAR FROM DRIVE INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. LATER THAT WEEK, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 55 MPH WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. WHILE DRIVING TO HER PLACE OF BUSINESS, THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED 100-120 MPH. LATER THAT DAY, THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED TO BRING IT BACK FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,500 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,300. UPDATED 2/2/09 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE SPEEDOMETER BECAME STUCK AT 47 MPH AT STARTUP. THE CONSUMER STATED HE DID NOT KNOW HOW FAST HE WAS DRIVING, SINCE THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INOPERATIVE. UPDATED 02/04/09. *JB
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GMC VEHICLES WHERE THE ODOMETER QUITS WORKING AFTER 70,000 MILES. THERE IS, I BELIEVE, A RECALL ON THE 2003/2004 MODEL YEAR. I HAVE A 2005 GMC PICKUP THAT HAS THE EXACT SAME PART IN IT AS IS ALSO DEFECTIVE. IT GIVES INACCURATE READINGS OR PEGS AT 120 OR 0. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. IF IT WASN'T SO EXPENSIVE, I'D FIX IT MYSELF. BUT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART PUT IN THE VEHICLE BY GM AND SHOULD BE FIXED BY GM. *TR
I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA PICK-UP TRUCK. SOMEWHERE IN THE STEERING COLUMN THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE WHENEVER YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY STATED THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEM, HOWEVER I COULD TAKE IT TO A GMC DEALER AND HAVE IT EVALUATED FOR ABOUT $100.00. I CONTACTED 2 INDEPENDENT SERVICE SHOPS AND BOTH STATED THAT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE GMC'S AND IS CAUSED BY MOVEMENT INSIDE THE STEERING SHAFT. THEY WOULD NOT COMMIT TO STATE THAT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD, HOWEVER IT DOES CONCERN ME. SINCE GMC IS NOT CONCERNED, I FELT YOU SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
GMC PICKUP DEVELOPED COOLANT LOSS. TOOK IN AND FOUND THAT HEAD HAD CRACKED. SERVICE BULLETIN REVEALED 50% OF HEADS FOR THAT YEAR CAME FROM ONE MANUFACTURER AND HAD BEEN PRONE TO CRACKING. DISCOVERED MINE INDEED HAD THE SUSPECT HEAD AND DID HAVE THE CRACK AS DESCRIBED. WHY DIDN'T GMC ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE AND SAVE ME $4,000? *TR
SPEEDOMETER STICKS AT OVER 70 MPH THEN WHEN YOU SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF IT GOES TO 120 AND NOT BACK TO 0 IT MAY SOMETIMES POINT TO THE ODOMETER WHICH IS DOWN AND ILL NOT MOVE BACK TILL YOU START AND STOP THE VEHICLE A NUMBER OF TIMES TO RESET TO 0. *TR
TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR STATE SAFETY INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT MY RIGHT FRONT HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY HAD EXCESSIVE PLAY. I NOW HAVE 69,587 MILES, AT 32,000 MILES THE SAME PROBLEM AROSE WITH THE LEFT FRONT HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY WHICH WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY UNDER GM'S 36,000 MILE 3 YEARS WARRANTY. THIS DEFECTIVE HUB & BEARING ASSEMBLY JUST COST ME $553.81. THIS PART CANNOT BE LUBRICATED OR ADJUSTED. I HAD SOME SWAY WHEN TOWING MY TRAVEL TRAILER AND THOUGHT IT WAS THE ROADWAY, BUT NOW I KNOW IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART. WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED NEXT? THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY FALLING OFF? OR CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR OVER 45 YEARS AND NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. TWO FRONT HUBS WEARING OUT IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. IF THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT NEEDED LUBRICATION OR ADJUSTMENTS I COULD UNDERSTAND. BUT NOTHING AN OWNER CAN DO. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. BY THE WAY I STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL BRAKES AT 69,000 MILES BUT HAD TWO HUB BEARING ASSEMBLES GO BAD!! *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN ERRATIC FOR THE LAST 2K MILES BUT NOW AT 43K MILES HAS COMPLETELY DIED. *TR
WITHIN 4 MONTHS OF PURCHASE, WAS DRIVING AT APPROX. 25 MPH WHEN TRANSFER CASE SHIFTED INTO 4 HIGH ON IT'S OWN. SHUT OFF VEHICLE, RESTART AND ABLE TO PUT BACK INTO 2 WHEEL DRIVE. HAPPENED ON AND OFF FOR A LITTLE MORE THAN A MONTH WHEN IT WENT TO 4 LO WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH THROUGH TOWN. UNABLE TO RESET. LIMPED IT THE 2 MILES TO DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS. COST ME $1200 TO HAVE THE TRANSFER CASE REBUILT. SMOKED THE CLUTCH PACK, BURNED OUT 2 BUSHINGS AND BENT SHIFT SHAFT. HAD SECOND ISSUE OF SHIFTING ON IT'S OWN, MAY 15TH, 2014. THIS TIME IT COST ME $500 FOR THE SHIFT MOTOR TO BE REPLACED. SECOND PROBLEM, SPEEDOMETER READING INCORRECTLY OR NOT AT ALL. BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS SPORADICALLY (APPARENTLY THE LITTLE DRIVE "MOTOR" ON THE BACK OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, $300 REPLACEMENT OR, FOUND A COMPANY TO REBUILD WITH NEW "MOTORS" FOR UNDER $200). PASSLOCK ISSUES STARTED IN JAN 2014, HAS LEFT ME STRANDED A COUPLE TIMES NOW. CAN'T GET A GOOD ANSWER FROM DEALER AS TO HOW TO REPAIR OTHER THAN "BRING IT IN AND WE'LL HOOK IT TO OUR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM" (I.E. PAY US LOTS OF MONEY). ALSO HAVING ISSUE WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON CONSTANTLY. INTERMITTENT ENGINE MISS ON MULTIPLE CYLINDERS. ROUGH IDLE, CRAPPY MILEAGE, BUT NOT DOWN ON POWER. MISS SEAMS TO GO AWAY OFF IDLE AND NOT NOTICEABLE UNDER LOAD. NEW PLUGS, WIRES, ETC, ETC, ETC.... HAVEN'T FIGURED THIS ONE OUT YET. SAME ANSWER FROM DEALER (PAY US MORE MONEY PLEASE). LASTLY, AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON IN DEC OF 2012. NEVER CRASHED OR BUMPED BUT HAD TO REPLACE LEFT FRONT AIR BAG SENSOR. LOVE THE TRUCK, CURRENTLY HAS 154000 MILES BUT I'M GETTING FRUSTRATED WITH ALL THE LITTLE ELECTRICAL "GLITCHES" AND THE DEALER WON'T HELP A BIT WITHOUT THE NORMAL ANSWER, "BRING IT IN AND WE'LL HOOK IT TO OUR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM". IT'S DANG NEAR $200 (DIAGNOSTIC CHARGE) JUST TO GET MY TRUCK IN AND OUT WITHOUT EVEN GETTING ANYTHING REPAIRED! *TR
SPEEDOMETER WAS OFF A LOT!! 74 MPH WHILE SITTING STILL, 130+ MPH WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL ROAD SPEEDS. I DID NOT KNOW HOW FAST I WAS TRAVELING. SCHOOL ZONES ETC. NEVER KNOW IF I WAS SPEEDING OR NOT. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE ON VACATION IN CALIFORNIA. SOMETIMES IT WAS NORMAL, BUT IT GOT WORSE. IT FIRST HAPPENED AT ABOUT 65,000 MILES. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT MAY BE UNDER WARRANTY, AS MANY HAVE HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM. THEY SAID MY 2005 GMC DID NOT FALL UNDER A WARRANTY. I HAD TO PAY $356.70 PLUS TAX TO HAVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACED. I ASKED FOR THE OLD PARTS, BUT WAS TOLD GM NEEDED IT BACK SO THEY COULD REBUILD IT FOR THE NEXT FAILURE!! IT SEEMS GM IS COVERING CERTAIN SERIAL NUMBER VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO MINE. 2003 AND 2004 MODEL YEARS, BUT MINE IS A 2005 AND ITS NOT COVERED! WHY? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM, AND I HAVE OWNED 11 GM MADE VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD A SPEEDOMETER GO BAD. HOPEFULLY YOU CAN GET THEM TO COVER THIS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO FIFTH GEAR, THE FAN STOPS BLOWING. WHEN SWITCHING BACK TO FOURTH GEAR, THE FAN WILL BLOW. THE FAILURE BEGAN IN DECEMBER OF 2007. IN AUGUST OF 2008, THE WIRING PLUG AND RESISTOR MELTED. THE WIRING PLUG WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE METAL CONNECTOR IS DEFECTIVE AND WILL NOT ALLOW THE PLUG TO PROPERLY CONNECT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CAN ONLY BE DRIVEN IN THIRD GEAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,100 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
SPEEDOMETER HAS QUIT WORKING PROPERLY. IT SOMETIMES READS INACCURATELY LOW AND SOMETIMES INACCURATELY HIGH. IT WILL USUALLY GO SEVERAL WEEKS WITHOUT EVER WORKING PROPERLY AND THEN WILL WORK FOR A FEW DAYS. IT SOMETIMES NEVER COMES BACK DOWN AFTER PEAKING AT THE MAXIMUM SPEED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500 TRUCK AND THE CAB FILLED WITH SMOKE THE A SMALL FIRE DEVELOPED ON THE WIRE BUNDLE THAT CONNECTS TO THE FAN BLOWER UNDER THE DASH PASSENGER SIDE. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND PRY THE BURNT CONNECTOR OFF OF THE RESISTOR / BLOWER HOOK UP. THE FUSE DID NOT WORK AND THE CONNECTOR CONTINUED TO BURN UNTIL I SHUT OFF THE TRUCK AND REMOVE THE CONNECTOR. I PLAN TO TAKE THE TRUCK INTO SKILLMAN GMC SINCE A FUSE DID NOT BLOW PRIOR TO THE BURNING OF THE WIRING. ALSO I DID A BRIEF SEARCH AND FOUND OTHERS HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH EITHER THE GMC SIERRA AND THE CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCK. *TR
ABS SENSOR ENGAGING WHEN NOT REQUIRED AT LOW SPEED BRAKING. OCCURS AT ALMOST EVERY STOP. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 98-02 MODELS BUT IS STILL OCCURRING ON MINE AND IT IS AN 05. DEALER WANTS TO CLEAN SENSORS BUT CANNOT GUARANTEE THEY WONT GET BROKEN DURING EXTRACTION AT A REPLACEMENT COST OF $280 A WHEEL. THE VEHICLE IS AN 05 GMC SIERRA HALF TON. I LIVE WITHIN THE STATES DEFINED BY THE PREVIOUS RECALL AND HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR. THIS SEEMS LIKE SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NOT FALL FINANCIALLY TO THE CONSUMER SINCE IT IS CLEARLY A PROBLEM WITH DESIGN THAT HAS BEEN LINGERING FOR NEARLY A DECADE. *TR
I OWN A 2005 GMC SIERRA AND THE SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED. I OWN A GPS SO I USE THIS TO HELP DETERMINE THE SPEED I AM TRAVELING. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE INTO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT HELP ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $380.00 TO GET IT REPAIRED. FRONT DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARINGS AND ABS SENSORS WENT BAD. I HAVE SPOKE TO OTHER OWNERS OF SIMILAR VEHICLES AND THEY ALSO HAD TROUBLE. *TR
FAULTY SPEEDOMETER READINGS ON 2005 GMC SIERRA RESULTING IN DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEED! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WITH THE HEAT ACTIVATED, THE CONTACT SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING COMING FROM THE BLOWER MOTOR. SOMETIMES, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN, HE WOULD SMELL FUEL. WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN, ONE OF THE REAR TIRES SLIDES AND THE OTHER ONE KEEPS SPINNING. THE CONTACT BELIEVES THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL OR THE ABS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER OR MECHANIC AT THIS TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 205.
DETAILS: 2005 GMC SIERRA PICK UP TRUCK. THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WILL NOT GO BACK TO 0 WHEN I AM STOPPED, WHICH CAUSES THE SPEEDOMETER TO READ WRONG MPH WHEN DRIVING. THE PROBLEM IS OCCURRING MORE AND MORE SINCE IT FIRST BEGAN. IT STARTED FOR NO APPARENT REASON APPROXIMATELY 6 - 7 MONTHS AGO. DEALER WAS VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM, BUT I AM PAST ANY WARRANTIES OUT THERE. APPROXIMATE COST TO ME TO FIX FROM THE DEALER IS $500. I CANT AFFORD THIS. HOWEVER, BASED UPON NUMBER OF POSTINGS ON THE INTERNET, IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE A RECALL IS IN ORDER. *TR
GMC SIERRA 1500 FRONT SEAT METAL FAILED ON THE UPPER BACK CUSHION/ SUPPORT OF SEAT CAUSING THE SEAT TO FALL ON ONE SIDE. THIS IN TURN CAUSED THE DRIVE ABILITY OF THE TRUCK TO BE DANGEROUS FOR SAFETY OF THE DRIVER AND ALL IN TRUCK. THIS IS NOT AT A WELDED AREA BUT IN THE METAL ITSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 8-10 MPH ON DRY ROADS, THE ABS ABNORMALLY ACTIVATED WITHOUT WARRANT. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN TRAVELING AT LOW SPEEDS UNDER 10 MPH. THE DEALER ADVISED A DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIRS IF NECESSARY AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE BECAME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING. WOULD MANIFEST ITSELF IN A COUPLE OF WAYS. 1) IT WOULD SHOW A STEADY SPEED OF 25 MPH REGARDLESS OF MY ACTUAL SPEED. 2) WOULD SHOW I AM GOING AS MUCH AS 50MPH OVER MY ACTUAL SPEED. *TR

PURCHASED A USED 2005 GMC SIERRA FROM A GM DEALERSHIP. TWO MONTHS LATER THE ENGINE WAS FOUND TO HAVE A BLOWN HEAD. AFTER DOING MY DUE DILIGENCE, I WAS MADE AWARE THAT GM HAS HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE HEAD CASTING MANUFACTURE OF MY PARTICULAR TRUCK. I AM HAVING IT REPAIRED AT A GM DEALERSHIP AND HAVE ASKED GM TO ASSIST ME IN ANYWAY WITH THE COSTLY REPAIR, SINCE IT IS ONLY A 2005. THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH ME IN THE LEAST. THE GM MECHANIC EVEN STATED THAT THESE PARTICULAR HEADS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR CRACKING AND GM IS AWARE OF THIS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY WITH THE STEERING. HE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND HAD THE TIRES RE-BALANCED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE FINE; HOWEVER, THEY WERE WEARING ON THE OUTSIDE. A FRONT END ALIGNMENT WAS RECOMMENDED. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY WOULD BE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT DUE TO DEFECTIVE INNER TIE ROD ENDS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED NONETHELESS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR REIMBURSEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 82,054 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,547.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, HE HEARD A SCRAPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT WHEEL HUB FAILED. MY 2005 GMC 2500 HD, HAS 154,000 MILES NOW AND I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE OUT THE FRONT HUB BEARINGS 3 TIMES. I DO NOT KNOW WHY THEY KEEP GOING BAD. MY DEALERSHIP TELLS ME IT IS BECAUSE I HAVE A LIFT AND OVERSIZED TIRES ON TRUCK, BUT ALL MY TRUCKS HAVE HAD LIFTS AND OVER SIZED TIRES AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS BEFORE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 5 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE DRIVING 60 MPH CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF HIS VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE BUMPER, RADIATOR, ENGINE, AND TRANSMISSION WERE DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 9,000.
POWER STEERING FAILURE. DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR NUMBER OF TIMES NOTHING HAS WORKED. QUITS WORKING AT ANY TIME THEN BEGAN WORKING AGAIN. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON OTHER SITE FORUMS. MY CONCERN IS NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN/CONTROL VEHICLE. PROBLEM BEGAN WITH-IN 1ST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. TRUCK NOW HAS 33,000 AND JUST OUT OF 3 YEAR WARRANTY. GM HAS SET-UP SERVICE AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. I JUST HOPE PROBLEM CAN BE CORRECTED. THIS IS VERY SCARY PROBLEM TO HAVE I JUST DON'T TRUST THE STEERING. I DON'T WANT MYSELF AND OTHERS END UP BECOMING STATISTICS. 2005 GMC 2500HD SPEEDOMETER IS INACCURATE. GM IS UNWILLING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AT THEIR EXPENSE. THEY ARE COVERING THE 2003 AND 2004 MODELS ONLY. THAT MAKES VERY LITTLE SENSE TO ME AS THEY ARE OLDER MODELS. I HAVE NOTICED ON THE INTERNET, THAT THIS IS A WIDE SPREAD PROBLEM. *TR

THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (060139002) FOR THE ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE REPAIR WOULD BE THE CONTACT'S RESPONSIBILITY. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,670 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,470.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD OCCASIONALLY REMAIN AT ZERO OR DISPLAY 110 MPH. IT FAILED TO DISPLAY THE CORRECT SPEEDS. THE DEALER STATED THAT HER MODEL YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RELATED RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BEFORE THEY COULD MAKE ANY JUDGMENTS. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,265 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
