WHEN BRAKING AT SLOW SPEEDS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES APPEAR TO ENGAGE CAUSING THE PULSATING BRAKE IN THE PEDAL. THE TRUCK STOPPING DISTANCE IS INCREASED AND THE BRAKES DO NOT FULLY ENGAGE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO BUMP THE CURB. THE PROBLEM ALSO MAY HAPPEN AT HIGHER SPEEDS SUCH AS 25 MPH AND CORRECTS WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED FULLY TO THE FLOOR CAUSING THE BRAKES TO FULLY ENGAGE (LOCK UP). THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME. *TR
I BOUGHT A 2006 SIERRA DENALI WITH 65000 MILES ON THE TRUCK IN MAY OF 2013. I LOST MY BRAKES AND ALMOST REARENDED A MAN PULLING INTO HIS DRIVEWAY. I ALSO HAD MY 3 KIDS AND MY FIANCE IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO ROBERTSONS GMC IN WAREHAM,MA AND THEY TOLD ME MY BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY ROTTED AS WELL AS MY FRAME. I ALSO HAD A EXTENDED WARRANTY WHICH DID NOT COVER IT BECAUSE IT WAS A PRE-EXISTING PROBLEM. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW GM CAN GET AWAY WITH ALL OF THESE FRAME CORROSION AND BRAKE LINE CORROSION PROBLEMS WITHOUT HAVING TO FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH THERE TRUCKS. I HAVE RESEARCHED ALOT ON THESE PROBLEMS AND IT SEEMS LIKE NO ONE IS HOLDING GM RESPONSIBLE AND MAKING THEM FIX THE CORROSION PROBLEM.I THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THE PROBLEM LIKE TOYOTA DID WHEN THEY HAD FRAME PROBLEMS SO THAT THEY CAN STOP PRODUCING VEHICLES THAT DONT LAST 10 YEARS WITHOUT ROTTING AWAY. *TR
DRIVING THE TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH A LANDSCAPE TRAILER ATTACHED, APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. HAD TO HAVE ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES REPLACED. *JS
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HILL AND APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THERE WAS NO RESISTANCE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AT ALL. THE BRAKES FUNCTIONED PROPERLY WHEN I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN, THEN WHEN I WAS GOING DOWN THE HILL THE BRAKE LINE BROKE. *TR
WHEN I WENT TO START THE TRUCK IN THE MORNING, I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. GOT OUT AND SAW THE BRAKE FLUID ON MY DRIVEWAY. EXAMINED THE TRUCK AND FOUND A STEEL BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND OTHERS HAD SIGNIFICANT RUST. *TR
MY FAN HIGH SPEED BURST OUT AND I HAD A STRONG ELSE TRIAL BURNING SMELL. I HAD MY TRUCK LOOKED AT TO FIND THAT MY WIRING HARNESS AND RESISTOR HAD BURNT. I HAD THEM REPLACED THIS LAST SEPTEMBER. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE TWO MORE RESISTORS AND ONE MORE WIRING HARNESS. I TALKED TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND NO ONE TOLD ME ABOUT THE, "SPECIAL WARRANTY ADJUSTMENT". I HAD TO RESEARCH THE INTERNET TO FIND THIS OUT. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK TO THE ORIGINAL DEALER, THEY BLAMED ME FOR NOT KNOWING THE LANGUAGE. I AM GLAD I DID NOT BURN MY TRUCK UP LIKE SEVERAL OTHER HAD (FOUND ON THE INTERNET). NOW THE DEALER TELLS ME THAT MAIN CONTROLLER HAS FAILED AND I HAVE TO PAY OVER $400 IN REPAIRS. HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE MAIN CONTROLLER DID NOT BURN OUT THE RESISTOR OR WIRING HARNESS? I AM CONCERNED THAT LARGE CORPORATIONS ARE PLAYING WITH OUR LIVES. *TR
WHILE SLOWING TO MAKE A TURN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND HAD A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKES. HAD I NOT BEEN ON A SUBURBAN ROAD OR IN TRAFFIC OR A HIGH SPEED HIGHWAY THE SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC AND RESULTED IN A CRASH. I WAS NEAR MY REPAIRING GARAGE AND MANAGED TO GET THE VEHICLE THERE BY USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND LOW SPEED. IT WAS LESS THAN A MILE. I HAD THIS REPAIRED AT A COST OF $849.27. JUST YESTERDAY (6-30-2014) I WAS PARKED ON A HILL AND AS I RELEASED THE PARKING BRAKE MY FOOT SUDDENLY WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I EXPERIENCED A SECOND LOSS OF BRAKES DUE TO FAILURE OF THE REMAINING TWO BRAKE LINES. I WAS ON A HILL AND HAD ONLY A TINY AMOUNT OF BRAKING POWER. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE GARAGE AND THE COST OF THIS REPAIR HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. THEY WILL REPLACE THE REMAINING TWO BRAKE LINES. I RECENTLY HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES WHICH RUPTURED AND ARE LOCATED IN A NEARBY LOCATION ON THE VEHICLE. ALL ARE EXPOSED AND UN-SHIELDED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVERTISES THAT THE VEHICLE IS "PROFESSIONAL GRADE" AND "HEAVY DUTY" BUT I FIND BOTH THESE CLAIMS TO BE GREAT EXAGGERATIONS. THESE SITUATIONS HAVE SCARED ME AND I DESIRE TO ACQUIRE A DIFFERENT VEHICLE AS SOON AS I AM ABLE. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS WILL NOT BE SOON. I WILL HAVE TO DRIVE WITH THE FEAR THAT ANOTHER POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC PROBLEM COULD DEVELOP AT ANY MOMENT. FORTUNATELY, NEITHER OF THESE INCIDENTS WERE PANIC STOPS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. UPDATED 7/23/15*CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT IMPACT SENSOR DID NOT WORK. THE RED LIGHT WAS STILL ON. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WAS RELATED TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE DEALER HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. UPDATED 07/28/15*JB
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 HD ON 7/24/2013 THE TRUCK WAS HAVING TIRES INSTALLED AT A LOCAL STORE. THEY TRUCK WAS BROUGHT IN FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT SERVICE BY A MECHANIC . THE MECHANIC SHOWED THE LEAK AND THE CORROSION ON THE BRAKE LINES ABOVE THE I BEAM. THEY SAID TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. I CALLED MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO TOW THE 2006 GMC TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE DEALERSHIP DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WITH THE RUSTED LINES THEY ASKED FOR $ 1400.00 FOR REPLACING THE RUSTED LINES. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP. AT TIMES, I HAD TO STOP THE TRUCK AND PUT IN PARK BEFORE IT WOULD ENGAGE IN DRIVE. FINALLY IT LOST ALL BUT 1ST GEAR. TOOK TO DEALER AND TORQUE CONVERTER HAD TO BE REPLACED. GMC MADE ME PAY HALF THE $3200 REPAIR. I DO NOT LIVE IN A COLD CLIMATE. A HEAVY DUTY TRUCK SHOULD NOT BE LOSING THE TRANSMISSION AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES!
WHILE TOWING MY TRAILER I LOST MOST OF MY BRAKING CAPACITY. I HAD TO USE THE TRAILER BREAKING MECHANISM TO STOP THE TRUCK. THERE WAS NO CRASH OR INJURIES. *TR
DRIVING IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AT APPROX. 25 MPH. UPON ENGAGING BRAKES TO STOP AT STOP SIGN, PEDAL SUDDENLY BECAME EXTREMELY SOFT AND TRAVELED NEARLY TO FLOOR. IT TOOK ME A MOMENT TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND I HAD TO PRESS WITH FULL FORCE TO STOP. DROVE SLOWLY TO NEAREST GMC DEALER, NOT FAR AWAY. ALMOST ALL OF THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL PROVIDED NO RESPONSE; THE REMAINDER OF TRAVEL WAS SOFT AND PROVIDED MINIMAL BRAKING PERFORMANCE. DIAGNOSIS BY THE DEALER WAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON ALL SOLID BRAKE LINES AND FITTINGS. BURST/LEAKAGE ON A LINE NEAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL WAS CAUSING THE SOFT, NEARLY UNRESPONSIVE BRAKE PEDAL. RECOMMENDATION BY DEALER WAS TO REPLACE ALL SOLID BRAKE LINES AND FITTINGS, FROM MASTER CYLINDER TO ABS UNIT TO EACH WHEEL END. I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY FIXING THE AREA THAT HAD BURST WOULD BE TOO "RISKY" DUE TO CONDITION OF THE REST OF THE SOLID BRAKE LINES AND THAT FAILURE IN ANOTHER PART OF THE LINES WAS "PROBABLY GOING TO HAPPEN." THE FLEXIBLE/RUBBER BRAKE LINES AND FITTINGS AT CALIPERS/DRUMS WERE "OK" AND NOT REPLACED. TOTAL CHARGE: $1380.46. THIS IS A 7-YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH ABOUT 40K MILEAGE THAT HAS BEEN WELL-MAINTAINED IN PERSONAL USE/COMMUTING. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE BEFORE, ON ANY VEHICLE AT ANY AGE, INCLUDING NUMEROUS VEHICLES 10+ YEARS OLD ALL DRIVEN IN NE OHIO. I AM GRATEFUL THE BRAKES GAVE UP WHEN/WHERE THEY DID: AT LOW SPEED AND WITHOUT ANY OTHER VEHICLE (OR PEDESTRIAN) AROUND. I CONTACTED GM AND REGISTERED MY COMPLAINT; THEY OFFERED NO RELIEF OR EXPLANATION (BEYOND "ENVIRONMENTAL" CAUSE), THOUGH THEY EXPRESSED SERIOUS INTEREST IN MY EXPERIENCE. I THINK THIS FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE AT THIS STAGE OF A VEHICLE SERVICE LIFE, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER IT IS USED IN THE "SALT BELT." PLEASE CONSIDER EXPANSION OF EA11-001 TO LATER MODEL YEARS OF GMT800-SERIES VEHICLES. *TR
THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED WITH 113,000 MILES ON IT AND NO APPARENT PROBLEMS WHEN BOUGHT. AFTER ABOUT 3 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" MESSAGE APPEARED INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. AFTER THAT TIME, THE MESSAGE WAS CONSTANT ON. TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY LOCAL DEALER WHO CHARGED TO "REPAIR" IT. MESSAGE CAME BACK AFTER ABOUT A WEEK OF DRIVING. MESSAGE NOW REAPPEARS AT RANDOM INTERVALS. DON'T KNOW IF THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE AIRBAG SENSORS, THE CONTROL UNIT, OR ANY PERIPHERAL SWITCHES. DEALER IS INCOMPETENT AND DO NOT TRUST TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ALREADY PAID GOOD MONEY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPAIRED AND AM NOT GOING TO CONTINUE TO PAY FOR INCOMPETENCE. MESSAGE APPEARS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION AND WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED AT RANDOM. MESSAGE WILL SOMETIMES DISAPPEAR FOR WEEKS AT A TIME, THEN, REAPPEAR AT RANDOM.
I PURCHASED THE 2006 2500HD DIESEL PICKUP NEW. THE TRUCK HAS HAD POOR BRAKING SINCE NEW AND THE DEALER HAS ALWAYS SAID IT FUNCTIONS NORMALLY. I HAVE HAD THE DEALER DO ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON THE TRUCK OTHER THAN OIL AND FILTER CHANGES. THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE TRUCK INCLUDING ALL LINES, BRAKES ROTORS, HUBS HAS BEEN RUSTING SINCE NEW. THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRUCK LOOKS LIKE A 20 YEAR OLD PLOW TRUCK. ON 12-6-2012 I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC AND THE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. SOME HOW I DID NOT HIT ANYTHING AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER AND COAST TO A STOP (VERY LUCKY IN N.J. TRAFFIC). THE BRAKE LINES BLEW THE TRUCK WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIND THE LINES ARE GONE AS WELL AS THE ROTORS THAT THEY REPLACED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. THE PADS ARE STILL IN GREAT SHAPE BUT THE ROTORS ARE RUSTED BEYOND USABILITY. LOOKING INTO THIS I FIND I AM NOT ALONE AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF I CAN GET INFO ON THE ISSUE INCLUDING, IS THE PROBLEM FIXED IN THE NEW TRUCKS AND IS COMPENSATION AVAILABLE AS THE TRUCK IS ON ITS WAY TO THE RUST GRAVE YARD WITH THE SHEET METAL RUSTING FROM THE UNDERSIDE ALSO. WHEN SLOWING TO COMPLETE STOP, THE ABS MOTOR ENGAGES UNDER 10 MPH ON DRY PAVEMENT. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO TAKE A FEW MORE FEET TO STOP. ABS LIGHT COMES ON WHILE MOVING AT TIMES. *TR
WE TOOK OUR 28 FT CAMPER TO BE REPAIRED WHICH CONSISTED OF DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AN AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED BUT DOING THE SPEED LIMIT. ON OUR WAY HOME WE WERE NO LONGER HAULING THE CAMPER BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN LEFT BEHIND FOR REPAIR. I THANK GOD FOR THIS BECAUSE I WOULD HATE TO THINK WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF WE WERE HAULING THE CAMPER ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE BRAKE LINE WOULD HAVE BROKEN THEN. WHEN WE WERE ALMOST HOME I FELT SOMETHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. I HAD TO PRESS THEM ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR TO GET MY VEHICLE TO STOP. I WAS CLOSE TO A ADVANCED AUTO SO I DROVE VERY SLOWLY AND STAYED FAR FROM VEHICLES SO THAT I COULD MAKE IT THERE FOR THEM LOOK TO SEE IF I WAS LOW ON FLUID. BUT WHEN I TURNED INTO THEIR PARKING LOT IMMEDIATELY AFTER I PUT ON THE BRAKES TO PARK IT THE BRAKE LINE BROKE. I HAD TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE. NOT ONLY THE BRAKE LINES WERE CHANGED BUT THE CALIPERS ALSO. THE BILL WAS JUST UNDER 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS. I CALLED GMC ALL THEY DID WAS CALL THE DEALERSHIP TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS DONE. WHICH WAS NO HELP TO ME. I COULD HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THAT MYSELF. I BELIEVE THIS IS A GREAT INJUSTICE TO GMC OWNERS THAT THEY KNOW OF A SITUATION AND WOULD LET US USE THESE VEHICLES TO HAUL OUR CHILDREN ON CAMPING TRIPS PUTTING THEIR SAFETY IN DANGER. I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER GMC VEHICLE. ALSO MY EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED A FEW WEEKS BEFORE. ALTHOUGH I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT HAVE COVERED IT . I ALSO BRING MY VEHICLE FOR OIL CHANGES AS REQUIRED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHICH THEY DO CHECK OTHER THINGS AS A ROUTINE. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THESE AUTO REPAIRMEN DIDN'T CATCH THIS . THERE IS NO REASON THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO THIS VEHICLE. .. WHEN YOUR BRAKES GO OUT YOU LOOKING AT A MAJOR DANGER TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS. *TR
HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE RUST OUT RESULTS IN LOSS OF STOPPING ABILITY. THE "BLOW OUT" OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED (I WAS VERY LUCKY!). UPON INSPECTION, SEVERAL OF THE HYDRAULIC LINES WERE RUSTED BADLY. I FELT THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THEM ALL (WITH STAINLESS STEEL LINES) TO PREVENT ANOTHER FAILURE WHICH COULD HAVE DIRE CONSEQUENCES. THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT STAINLESS STEEL HYDRAULIC LINES WAS OVER $300. I PERFORMED THE REPLACEMENT OF THESE LINES MYSELF. IT COST ME AN ADDITIONAL $180 TO GET THE COMPLETE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM BLED OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE UPON ENGAGEMENT WITH A SUDDEN ACTIVATION OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS). AS A RESULT, THERE WAS A DELAYED RESPONSE IN BRAKING TO A STOP. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES AS THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS OF 10 MPH OR LESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT BOTH FRONT ABS SPEED SENSORS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
I PURCHASED MY PICKUP NEW IN JAN. 2007 AND USE IT TO TOW AN 8X16 TRAILER W/ELECTRIC BRAKES FOR A PART TIME BUSINESS THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER. THE TRAILER WEIGHS APPROX. 6000 LBS. LOADED AND THE TRUCK IS RATED FOR 8,000 LBS. APPROXIMATE TOWING MILEAGE IS 3 TO 4,000 MILES PER YEAR. AFTER TOWING THE TRAILER 200 MILES ON SEPT. 14, 2012 MY WIFE NOTICED SEVERAL OIL LEAKS ON THE ASPHALT NEARBY. I SUSPECTED SOMETHING IN THE DIFFERENTIAL AREA AND DROVE TO THE NEAREST GMC DEALERSHIP SEVERAL MILES AWAY. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS A REAR BRAKE LINE AND ENDED UP REPLACING 6' OF IT ALONG WITH BOTH ROTORS AND CALIPERS AND A BRAKE SYSTEM FLUSH FOR A TOTAL OF $958.76. I'M 66 YRS. OLD AND HAVE NEVER HAD A BRAKE LINE GO IN ANY VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED AND I'VE LIVED IN MASSACHUSETTS ALL MY LIFE. MY LOCAL MECHANIC JUST TOLD ME THIS WEEK THAT THE REST OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE BADLY CORRODED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED ASAP. THIS WILL ADD ANOTHER $900 TO THE ENTIRE COST. THERE IS NO QUESTION IN MY MIND THAT GM HAS ALLOWED QUALITY IN WORKMANSHIP ON ITS BRAKE LINES TO FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS...AND AT THE PUBLIC'S EXPENSE. *TR
FIRESTONE DESTINATION A/T LT285/75R16 TIRES - CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF TIRE WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH IN MIDDLE LANE OF THREE LANE HWY. NO PUNCTURE. SIDE WALL BLEW OUT . TIRES HAD ONLY 15,000 MILES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED INTO PLACE. I HAD TO JERK IT HARD IN ORDER TO GET IT TO RELEASED FROM THE LOCKED POSITION. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ALREADY. CAN EASILY CAUSE A CRASH. NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY MANUFACTURER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC 2500 EQUIPPED WITH BF GOODRICH MUDD KM2 TIRES, SIZE 35 12.5 R18. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT AND DAMAGED THE REAR SQUARE PANEL AND WHEEL WELL OF THE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY WERE ABLE TO PREVENT THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE TIRES HAD PLENTY OF TREAD AND THE TIME OF THE BLOW OUT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

I'VE TAKEN IT TO NUMEROUS DEALERS, NONE OF WHICH CAN FIX IT. I CALL GM AND THEY WON'T EVEN CONSIDER IT UNTIL I TAKE IT BACK TO A DEALER SAYING THEY WILL ONLY GET INVOLVED IF I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A DEALER WITHIN THE LAST 30 DAYS. ONE DEALER TOLD ME THAT WAS A LIE, THERE IS NO 30 DAY REQUIREMENT. THIS ISSUE IS MORE OF A DISTRACTION THAN TEXTING. LOOKING IT UP ONLINE IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM BUT GM DENIES IT EVEN THOUGH GM DID ISSUE A TSB TO HAVE THE DRIVERS DOOR MODULE REPROGRAMMED. I HAD THAT DONE AND IT MADE THE PROBLEM WORSE. A STRAIGHT UP SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH A 2005 SUBURBAN AND FILED A COMPLAINT ON THAT ONE TOO. WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. SMELLED SOMETHING HOT, THEN SMOKE CAME OUT VENTS, WITHIN LESS THAN A MINUTE FLAMES WERE COMING OUT FROM UNDER PASSENGER'S SIDE DASH. HAD TO PULL OVER AND PUT OUT FIRE WITH FIRE EXTINGUISHER. IF THERE HAD BEEN A PASSENGER LIKE MY CHILDREN THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN SEVERELY BURNED OR KILLED.I AM A GM TECHNICIAN AND THE FUSE FOR THE HVAC DID NOT BLOW AND TAKING AWAY POWER DID NOT STOP THE ISSUE. I KNOW THAT THERE ARE ISSUES WITH THE RESISTOR WIRING. MY VEHICLE SYSTEMS ALL WORKED FINE BEFORE THE INCIDENT AND GAVE NO INDICATIONS OF FAILING. DRIVER MUST USE MORE BRAKE TO STOP TRUCK ( THIS IS WITH NO LOAD IN TRUCK AT ALL, ONLY PASSENGER ). ALSO WHILE STOPPED AND TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT TO PARK, STEERING WHEEL LOOSES POWER STEERING UNTIL BRAKE IS RELEASED AND TRUCK STARTS ROLLING. I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY (DOWN HILL SLOPE) AND LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKING IN MY 2006 GMC 2500HD DIESEL TRUCK. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND DEPLOYED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THE POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED AND THIS RESULTED IN THE HYDRO BOOST FAILURE WITH SUBSEQUENT BRAKE LOSS. AFTER REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP THE POWER STEERING LINES SPLIT TWO WEEKS LATER. *TR

ONE DAY I GOT IN MY TRUCK AND STARTED IT AND THE LOW FUEL SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH A CHIME , THE (DIC) SAID THE FUEL WAS LOW BUT I HAD JUST FILLED IT UP AND HAD ONLY DRIVEN A FEW MILES. THE LOW GAS LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME NOW EVEN WHEN I FILL IT UP ALONG WITH THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND IT WILL CHIME EVERY TIME I START IT UP. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND HE STATED IT WAS A WORN FUEL LEVEL SENSOR AND HE HAS HAD SEVERAL GM VEHICLE THAT HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I STILL HAD MY DOOR OPEN AND WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES THEN DECIDED TO GET BACK IN. WHEN THE DOOR SHUT IT WAS LOCKED AND I WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK ANY OF THE DOORS WITH THE OUTSIDE TEMP BEING 96 DEGREES IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG BEFORE THE INSIDE OF VEHICLE HEATED UP WITH ME IN THERE FANNING MYSELF TO KEEP COOL. HAD HE NOT COME OUT OF THE STORE WITHIN 5 MINUTES (HIS CELL PHONE WAS IN THE VEHICLE) OF MY GETTING LOCKED INSIDE I WOULD HAVE USED THE HORN TO GET SOMEONE'S ATTENTION. THERE IS NOTHING THAT WE COULD FIND IN THE MANUAL THAT ADDRESSES BEING LOCKED INSIDE. I'M 62 YEARS OLD AND I DOUBT ANYONE WOULD THINK TO CHECK ON ANYONE OTHER THAN A CHILD LEFT ALONE IN A VEHICLE. *TR
