ABS MOTOR ENGAGES ON DRY PAVEMENT AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN COMING TO A STOP, ABOUT 10 MPH OR LESS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS ENGAGED WHILE BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND HE WAS UNABLE TO READ THE AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT WAS IN THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE READER INSIDE THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT REPLACE THE READER ALTHOUGH THE VEHICLE COULD SHUT OFF WHEN THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06E043000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 77,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500 WITH THE LBZ DURAMAX AND ALLISON TRANSMISSION. TWO OF THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINES BEGAN LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AT THE CRIMP ENDS IN DEC OF 2010. THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 30,000 MILES, BUT WAS THE 36 MONTH WARRANTY PERIOD. SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY WAS DENIED. AN ON-LINE SEARCH REVEALS SEVERAL OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THAT THE DEALER INSTALLED OEM REPLACEMENT LINES ARE NO BETTER (DEVELOPING LEAKS SOON AFTER REPLACEMENT), YET NO TSB OR CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS BEEN ISSUED BY GM. LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID IS A FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THE LEAKS ARE GETTING WORSE. *TR
2006 SIERRA DENALI WITH JUST OVER 75,000 MILES. WITH 1/2 BLOCK WARNING AND ONLY TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 20MPH, I WAS UNABLE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHEN I RAN INTO A VAN IN THE INTERSECTION. I FELT VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE FROM THE PEDAL AND THE ABS DEFINITELY DID NOT GO OFF. THERE WAS NO SNOW OR ICE ON THE ROAD SURFACE. HOWEVER AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. TWO INDEPENDENT THIRD PARTIES HAVE SUGGESTED THIS COULD BE A MASTER CYLINDER ISSUE EVEN THOUGH GMC GAVE IT A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH. *TR

AT LOW SPEED THE ABS ACTIVATES CAUSING EXTENDED TRAVEL WHEN STOPPING, WHICH TURNS OUT TO BE VERY SCARY FOR DRIVER AND PEDESTRIANS IN CROSS WALKS.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A BURNING ODOR. SHE THEN NOTICED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR ON THE WIRING HARNESS MELTED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SMOKE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT DID NOT INFORM THE MANUFACTURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,800. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
BLOWER MOTOR WIRING HARNESS WIRES MELTED AND STARTED SMOKING ON MY 2006 GMC SIERRA. *TR
REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLY (BOTH) CONNECTION TABS WHICH HOLD ASSEMBLY IN PLACE FAIL FOR NO REASON ALLOWING LIGHT ASSEMBLE TO FALL OUT. HAVE REPLACED THE REAR TAIL LIGHT ASSEMBLIES THREE TIMES. FIRST LIGHT ASSEMBLY FELL OUT AT 8 MONTHS AGE (APPROX 20,000 MILES), RETURNED TO DEALER THEY ADVISED ASSEMBLY MUST HAVE BEEN DAMAGED NO WARRANTY REPAIR. REPLACED BOTH WITH AFTER-MARKET ASSEMBLIES, 18 MONTHS LATER REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY CONNECTION TABS FAILED. REPLACED WITH DEALER SUPPLIED PARTS (APPROX 75,000 MILES). NOW ABOUT 18 MONTHS LATER REAR LIGHT ASSEMBLY IS FAILING AGAIN (109,000 MILES). POSSIBLE CAUSE IS THAT PLASTIC TABS DO NOT SECURE LIGHT ASSEMBLE IN PLACE, ALLOWING NORMAL USE AND VIBRATION TO CAUSE CONNECTION TAB TO FAIL. *TR
10 DAYS AFTER I GOT THIS TRUCK THE AC BLOWER STOPPED WORKING. I HAD TO PAY $60 TO GET IT FIXED. CONDENSATION FROM THE AC HAD FRIED THE WIRES. BUT I HAD TO PAY TO GET IT FIXED!!! NOT RIGHT!!!! NOW THE BLOWER AND AC WORKS BUT I HAVE NO HEAT! SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY THEM $60 ~ $100 JUST TO TELL WHAT IS WRONG THEN I WOULD HAVE TO PAY MY DEDUCTIBLE OF $60!!!! WHAT THE [XXX]!!!! I OWN A 2006 GMC SIERRA. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FROM A RELATIVE (70 YEAR OLD WOMAN) AND IT HAS 22,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE JUST HAD A MECHANICAL ISSUE BEGIN. WHEN SLOWING THE VEHICLE TO APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE VEHICLE ABS ACTIVATES AND THE TRUCK THRUSTS FORWARD. I WAS ADVISED BY A MECHANIC THAT THIS IS A FAILURE OF BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES. BECAUSE THIS VEHICLE HAS SO FEW MILES ON IT I BEGAN LOOKING ON LINE FOR RECALL INFORMATION. I AM SHOCK HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS AROUND 20,000 MILES, SOME RESULTING IN CRASHES. I ALSO LEARNED THAT THE COMPANY THAT MANUFACTURES THE HUB ASSEMBLIES HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE PARTS UNLESS IT WAS INSTALLED BY THE FACTORY (GM). THIS ISN'T RIGHT AND SOMEONE WILL GET INJURED BADLY. GM SHOULD RECALL THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500 WITH 25000 MILES ON IT HAD BOTH FRONT WHEEL ABS SENSORS FAILED. CAUSING ENGAGING OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES, WHEN BRAKES IS DEPRESSED WHEN MOVING AT LESS THAN 10 MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 GMC SIERRA 1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO USE THE AIR CONDITIONER THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT NO AIR WOULD BLOW OUT OF THE VENTS. THE BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR OVERHEATED AND MELTED THE WIRING HARNESS,ALMOST CAUSED A FIRE,BURNT MY FINGERS TRYING TO STOP IT FROM STARTING TO BURN,MY 7 YEAR OLD WAS WITH ME. *TR
LOSS OF FAN - BLOWER MOTOR (HVAC) HIGH SPEED OPERATION FAILURE. WITH LOSS OF HIGH SPEED FAN, OTHER FAN SPEEDS (LOWER) OPERATION BECAME INTERMITTENT, WORKS AFTER JIGGLING BLOWER MOTOR WIRE BUNDLE AT CONNECTION POINT ON BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. VISUAL INSPECTION SHOWS MELTED WIRE HARNESS CONNECTOR AT BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR, UNABLE TO SEPARATE (REMOVE) THE CONNECTOR. SEARCHED NHTSA ODI DATABASE AND FOUND THREE VERY RELATED DEFECT COMPLAINTS - INOP FAN, SMOKE AND MELTED WIRES, FAN LOSS. FAN FAILURE COULD LEAD TO FIRE FROM MELTED ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS, LOSS OF VISIBILITY DUE TO WINDSHIELD ICING IN WINTER, FOGGING OVER WHEN DRIVING IN CHANGING WEATHER. WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER REQUIRES OPERATIVE FAN AND DEFROSTER IS A REQUIRED SAFETY ITEM. DEALER REPLACED BLOWER MOTOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR, WIRE HARNESS, AND FUSE, CHARGING PARTS TO WARRANTY AND ME FOR THE LABOR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON DEFECT IN THIS PRODUCT LINE. THERE IS A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE REPAIR INCLUDING REPLACEMENT OF THE CONNECTION WIRING TO INSURE ANY MELTED INSULATION IS REMOVED. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. DEALER HAS OLD PARTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 GMC SIERRA PICK-UP TRUCK WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILE ON IT AND HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE WHEN THE GAS GAUGE READS MORE THAN A QUARTER TANK OF FUEL ON THE GAUGE. I JUST LISTENED TO A REPORT ON THE RADIO OF A POSSIBLE RECALL ON MANY GM VEHICLES WITH GAS GAUGE PROBLEMS JUST LIKE MINE. I WISH YOU WOULD LOOK INTO ADDING THE GM SIERRA PICK-UP TO THIS LIST FOR RECALL. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC 2500. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE FRONT BRAKE AREA. WHEN THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE BOLTS THAT HELD THE CALIPERS IN PLACE HAD SHEARED OFF ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP TO BE INSPECTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 86,762.

THE CONTACT STATED WHEN BRAKING OR DRIVING AT RELATIVELY LOW SPEEDS OF AT LEAST 5 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WOULD ENGAGE AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO ABRUPT BRAKING PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND DID NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 28,663.
TRUCK IS A 2006 GMC WITH 60,200 (APROX) MILES ON IT. VEHICLE BLEW A BRAKE LINE GOING DOWN A STEEP HILL. *TR
2006 GMC SIERRA 1500. FRONT BRAKES LOCKED UP AT 17,000 MILES. NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS THEY WERE RUSTED OUT. FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY RUSTED OUT AT 19600 MILES. NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS FRONT WHEELS COULD COME OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. REAR BRAKES LOCKED UP AT 19000 MILES, NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND LUBRICATED. THIS VEHICLE BECAME UNSAFE TO DRIVE AFTER ONLY 17000 MILES! TOTAL COST (WARRANTY EXPIRED) $1500. *TR
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
2006 GMC DIESEL WITH ALLISON TRANSMISSION...LINES TO TRANSMISSION COOLER LEAKING. IT IS A FIRE HAZARD...FROM WHAT I READ ON THE INTERNET IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH ALL THE TRANSMISSION LINES INSTALLED ON THIS TRUCK
ON MARCH 8,2010 I TOOK MY CAR THAT I BOUGHT 2 YEARS AGO TO AN OFFICIAL EMISSIONS INSPECTION STATION; THE VEHICLE FAILED. AT THIS TIME I WAS GIVEN A SET OF RECALL PAPERS 09014 SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT ENGINE CONTROL MODULE- EMISSION RELATED REPROGRAMMING THAT EXPLAINED WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS. IN THE MEAN TIME I TOOK THE CAR TO GM . THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $125 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BY THE TIME THEY WERE DONE I HAD A BILL FOR $280 AND TOLD IT WOULD COST OVER $1000TO FIX THE CAR SO THAT COULD PASS (THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN TO RECEIVE COMMUNICATION I SEE THERE IS A RECALL ON THAT) I WANT TO STATE THAT I SHOWED THE WORKERS AT GM THE PAPERS SHOWING WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BUT I WAS TOLD THAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AND THEY THEN TOLD ME IF I WANT IT FIXED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT.THIS OCCURRED AFTER I SIGNED A PAPER ALLOWING THEM TO "LOOK" AT THE CAR . I NEED SOMEONE IN AUTHORITY TO HELP ME FIND OUT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BY GM AND WHETHER OR NOT THE ACTION OF GM WAS FRAUDULENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC 2500 CARGO VAN. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER CARGO DOOR. THE HINGE WAS BENT AND MISALIGNED; THE BOTTOM PINS WERE ALSO RUSTED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT HIS EXPENSE; THEY STATED THAT THEY WOULD DECIDE IF THEY WOULD ASSIST IN THE EXPENSES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
TRUCK WAS PARKED IN GARAGE ON A FRIDAY NIGHT, WITH NO PROBLEMS. STARTED TRUCK SATURDAY AM TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE TO HOOK UP A TRAILER. I PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE, THEN DISCOVERED IT WOULDN'T STEER AND IT WOULDN'T STOP. NEARLY TOOK OUT THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE DOOR WITH THE MIRROR, NOT TO MENTION, NEARLY RUNNING OVER ONE OF MY KIDS! I HAD TO ENGAGE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP - HALF IN AND HALF OUT OF THE GARAGE. I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTED IT, BUT NOTHING CHANGED. CALLED A FLATBED TRUCK TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. POWER STEERING PUMP HAD FAILED AND THEY REPLACED IT. I'M VERY LUCKY THAT I WASN'T PULLING THE TRAILER WHEN THIS HAPPENED, AS I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED, OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. VERY SCARY SITUATION. THERE HAD BEEN NO TROUBLE WITH THE BRAKES OR STEERING LEADING UP TO THIS INCIDENT - IT WAS JUST BOOM - IT HAPPENED. I PURCHASED THIS DIESEL TRUCK NEW, AND HAVE HAD THE DEALERSHIP DO ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENT, AND IT IS KEPT INSIDE A GARAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. A RATTLING NOISE WAS HEARD IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING OVER GRAVEL OR ROUGH ROAD SURFACES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL HUB WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
2006 GMC SIERRA HD 2500 - 4X4 CREW CAB SLT - WHILE PARKED IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND WITH KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION, THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. WE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP FERGUSON PONTIAC GMC AND WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE AND OUT OF WARRANTY. WE HAD OUR MECHANIC TOW IT IN. THEY HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER TO SEE IF A SENSOR HAD TRIPPED THE AIR BAG AND THE RUG STARTED TO SMOKE. THEY REMOVED THE MELTED MAT TO THE RUG AND FOUND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AWAY. BOTTOM SIDE OF THE RUG WAS BURNT. WE WENT TO GMC IN PERSON WITH PICTURES AND ASKED HOW THIS COULD HAPPENED AND WERE TOLD "IT CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME WITH SAND AND MOISTURE AROUND THE WIRING HARNESS". WE WERE TOLD THIS COULD HAVE ALSO HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. WE WANT THIS TRUCK FIXED AND ASSURED THAT IT WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A FOREST FIRE, A HORRIBLE ACCIDENT, AND OR DEATH. NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE. WE HAVE SEVERAL GMC VEHICLES AND ARE CONCERNED IF THE OTHER ONES WILL DO THE SAME. WE ARE NOT SATISFIED WITH THEIR COMPLETE DISREGARD FOR OUR SAFETY AND DID NOT WANT TO EVEN LOOK AT IT. WE HAVE PICTURES IF YOU WOULD LIKE US TO EMAIL THEM TO YOU. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND HE WAS ADVISED THAT THE TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WERE NO PRIOR WARNINGS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 44000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 GMC SIERRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED AND MOMENTARILY FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS ALSO A MOANING SOUND IN THE VEHICLE WHICH AND INCREASED THE STOPPING DISTANCE. THE WEATHER WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE DEALER ADVISED HAVING THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THERE WERE NO REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE OR RELATED RECALLS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNDER 40,320.
WHILE TOWING MY CAMPING TRAILER ON THE INTERSTATE I PULLED INTO A REST STOP. THEN I NOTICED THE RIGHT REAR TIRE WAS FLAT. LATER AT A GARAGE THE SERVICEMAN FOUND THE VALVE STEM HAD SPLIT. THIS WAS A SNAP-IN RUBBER STEM. I BELIEVE THE TIRES ON A TRUCK OF THIS SIZE (GMC 2500HD) AND WITH THIS AIR PRESSURE (80 PSI REAR, 55 FRONT) SHOULD HAVE STEEL CLAMP-IN TYPE STEMS. *TR
MY SON WAS DRIVING HIS 2006 GMC SIERRA PICKUP, WHEN THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED,FOLLOWED BY THE TRUCK WANTING TO STEER TO THE RIGHT. HE INVESTIGATED AND FOUND THAT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS TILTED INBOARD AND DECIDED TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED HOME. TODAY WE REMOVED THE WHEEL, AND FOUND A TOTAL FAILURE OF THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY. THIS IS A SEALED UNIT THAT CONTAINS THE WHEEL BEARINGS, AND HAS THE WHEEL STUDS MOUNTED TO IT ALSO. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT AN ITEM THAT CAN BE SERVICED IN THE FIELD, SUCH AS REPACKING OF THE BEARINGS. BOTH WHEEL BEARINGS WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED, AND THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE WHEEL ON WAS THE BRAKE CALIPER. WE INSTALLED A NEW HUB ASSEMBLY AND BRAKE DISC TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. *TR
IMPROPER ABS ACTIVATION A LOW SPEED. OCCURS IN THE LAST FEW MPH OF DECELERATION AT A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. ALSO OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP DURING PARKING, WORSE WHEN TURNING. PAVEMENT IS DRY. NO ABS ACTIVATION AT SPEEDS ABOVE 5 MPH. PEDAL VIBRATES LIGHTLY AND BECOMES SOFTER UNTIL COMPLETE STOP IS ATTAINED. VERY CONCERNED THAT BRAKING DISTANCE IS COMPROMISED AND MIGHT IMPACT VEHICLE IN FRONT OR STOP WITHIN INTERSECTION. *TR
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS WITHOUT CAUSE THE FUEL FILTER WATER-IN-GAS SENSOR BLEED VALVE LEAKS FUEL. THIS CAUSES FUEL TO LEAK INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. SYMPTOMS INCLUDE FUEL ON THE GROUND, FUEL ODOR, HARD/LONGER ENGINE CRANKING. WE WERE ON VACATION IN ALABAMA AND OUR 2006 GMC SIERRA TRUCK WITH 62,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO SLIP WE PULLED OVER AND CHECK THE TRANSMISSION FLUID, IT WAS FINE. SO WE CONTINUED ON UNTIL WE GOT TO THE NEXT TOWN. TILLSMAN CORNER. WE WENT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY BURNT UP. WE CALLED GMC AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE DRIVE TRAIN WAS ONLY 36,000 MILES. WHEN WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE THEY WERE TELLING US IT WAS 7 YEARS, 70,000 MILES ON THE DRIVE TRAIN. *TR
PURCHASED 2006 GMC SIERRA 1500 NEW IN APRIL 2006 WITH 208 MSL SHOWING ON ODOMETER. AT 10,000 MILES STARTED GETTING VIBRATION WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. TOOK VEHICLE INTO DEALER ROTORS WERE TURNED, VIBRATION GONE. AT ABOUT 18,000 MILES VIBRATION RETURNED. TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, ROTORS TURNED AGAIN AND TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED. AGAIN SMOOTH BRAKING. AT 32,000 MLS VIBRATION RETURNED AGAIN. TOOK BACK TO DEALER, THIS TIME THEY REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WITH NEW NEW ONES. BRAKES SMOOTH AGAIN. I NOW HAVE 44.500 MILES AND THE VIBRATION IS BACK AGAIN AS BAD AS EVER. VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. DEALER WILL NOT DO ANYTHING UNLESS I PAY. THESE ARE HIGHWAY MILES. I AM NOT RIDING THE BRAKES GETTING THEM HOT. $30,000 FOR A PICK UP TRUCK AND GM CAN"T OR WON"T FIX THE PROBLEM. I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT!!! *TR

2006 GMC SIERRA 1500 PICKUP TRUCK. FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FAILURE. THE WHEEL BEARING HUB ASSEMBLY FAILURE CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE DRIVING ABILITY WHILE DRIVING. THE WHEELS WILL START SHAKING CAUSING OPERATING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE. GMC HAS A PROBLEM WITH FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLIES ON THEIR PICKUP TRUCKS. REPLACED HUB ASSEMBLY WITH NEW PARTS BY A GM CERTIFIED MECHANIC. CLUNKING SOUND FROM STEERING SHAFT IN COLUMN, CLUNKING BUMPING LOOSENESS IN STEERING HYDRAULIC SLAVE CYLINDER AT ALL SPEEDS. THIS SEEMS TO CAUSE THE TRUCK TO WANDER AT HIGHWAY SPEED, SYMPTOMS ARE WORSE WHEN HIGH WINDS ARE ENCOUNTERED. *TR
VERY DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE, TO TURN STEERING AT IDLE. DURATION OF PROBLEM APPROX. 1 YEAR. JUNE 2009 DEALER REPLACED PART IN STEERING. DEALER COLD NOT FIND A PROBLEM IN STEERING, BUT REPLACED A PART. PROBLEM CONTINUES; VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AT IDLE OR LOW SPEED. I DO NOT FEEL IT IS SAFE. *TR
PURCHASED A NEW GMC TRUCK VALUED AT $40,000 AT 38,000 MILES THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED AND AT 48,000 MILES PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WHEEL BEARING FAILED. SEEMS TO BE THAT DEFECTIVE PARTS ARE BEING INSTALLED ON TRUCKS AT ASSEMBLY. WHEN PASSENGER SIDE FAILED ALSO RUINED BRAKE ROTOR.
