MY 2000 YUKON'S FUEL PUMP FAILED WHILE DRIVING OUR FAMILY ON HWY 94 EAST. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE STATION WHO HAPPENED TO HAVE APPROX. 20 FAILED FUEL PUMP MODULES AND ASSURED ME THAT THEY WILL INSTALL THE UPGRADED PUMP THAT DOES NOT "BURN" WHEN THE VEHICLE OPERATED WITH LOW FUEL LEVEL!!! I GOOGLED THE FAILURE AND CAME TO YOUR RECALL 05V155000 AND THE GM 05027 BUT GMC DOES NOT HONOR IT FOR MY VIN NUMBER??? WHAT IS SURPRISING IS THAT WHEN WE BOUGHT THE NEW PUMP FROM THE DEALER THEY HAD THE "UPGRADED" ACDELCO ONE ON THE SELF BUT OTHER THAN THAT I SHOULD HAVE NO PROBLEM ACCORDING TO OUR VIN NUMBER!!! SO I THOUGHT THAT IF EVERY GMC OWNER REPORTS HERE MAYBE THEY WILL GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER THERE IN GM AND INSTALL SOMETHING OF A BETTER QUALITY FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM IN THEIR $40K VEHICLES!!! A VERY UPSET BUT LOYAL GM OWNER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSES THE BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEEDS, HE CAN FEEL THE ABS PULSATING. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE IS MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP. ALSO, THE CONTACT HEARS A HUMMING SOUND WHENEVER THE FAILURE OCCURS. THE CONTACT DID NOT NOTICE ANY DIFFERENCES BEFOREHAND AND THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 174,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY YUKON XL 2000 WHEN ALL OF SUDDEN THE CAR LOST POWER STEERING. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ON WEB AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A ODI NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V005000 THAT ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED GM THEY INDICATED THAT THE CAR VIN WAS NOT IN THE RANGE FOR THE RECALL. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO GM TO GET IT FIXED THEY INDICATED THAT FAILURE WAS EXACTLY WHAT WAS DESCRIBED IN THE REPORT 05V005000. I WAS LUCKY THAT I WAS DRIVING THE CAR AND NOT MY WIFE. I HAD MY 13 MONTH SON IN THE CAR AND THIS FAILURE COULD OF CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I DID HURT MY NECK WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED TRYING TO CONTROL AND STEER THE CAR. FOR THE SAKE OF OTHER FAMILIES DRIVING 2000 YUKONS THIS RECALL 05V005000 SHOULD BE BROADEN TO INCLUDE MORE YULON 2000 CARS THAT WERE PRODUCED IN THAT YEAR BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE GETS HURT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, CAUSING AN INCREASE IN STOPPING DISTANCE AND TIME. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. NUMBER: 05V379000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK) BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TWICE BUT IT ALSO DID NOT CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
MY 2000 YUKON DENALI OLD BODY STYLE WITH PASSLOCK 1. MANY TIMES IT WILL NOT START DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM. I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER FOR NOT TO FIND THE PROBLEM MANY TIMES AND BEING CHARGED AN HOUR FOR NOTHINGS. I DRIVE AND THE LIGHT COMES ON ALL THE TIME. *JB
LOOSE RIGHT FRONT HUB BEARING ASSEMBLY WHICH RESULTED NOISE AND INDICATION BY SERVICE TECH THAT IT COULD EVENTUALLY HAVE RESULTED IN WHEEL SEPARATION. MY RECENT RESEARCH REVEALED A BULLETIN WHICH NOTES A RECALL; # 47678 DEC 17, 2007. EVEN THOUGH I PAID OUR OF POCKET ON 08/07/2007 TO REPLACE THE BEARING, MY RECENT VISIT TO A GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER ON 11/06/2009 REVEALED THAT THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON XL 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP THREE TIMES WITHIN THE LAST FOUR YEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V155000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
FUEL PUMP IS WHISTLING AND FUEL LEAK IS APPARENT WHEN PARKED OVERNIGHT IN GARAGE. ALREADY REPLACED ONE PUMP AT 96,000 MILES. ALREADY HAD SERVICE ON THE MELTED WIRES 2 YEARS AGO. CAN GM PROVIDE THE COST OF THE GM BRAND FUEL PUMP SO IT CAN BE REPLACED? *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE REFUSED TO STOP AND THE BRAKES MADE A LOUD NOISE WHEN THEY WERE APPLIED. THE MECHANIC AT THE AUTO SHOP STATED THAT THE BRAKE SHOES AND DRUM FAILED. THE MECHANIC PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHILE MAKING A TURN. THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE A CRASH OCCURRED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE REAR END FAILED AND THEN REPAIRED THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
ABS ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEED IN MY DRIVEWAY. *JB
GMC YUKON 2000 AND ABOVE MODELS. TAIL GATE WINDOW INSTALLATION. WINDOW IS ATTACHED TO VEHICLE WITH PLASTIC FASTENERS WHICH TEND TO BREAK AND CAUSE THE WINDOW TO COME SEPARATED FROM THE WINDOW FRAME. THE WINDOW IS THEN ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE PRIMARILY BY THE WINDOW LOCK. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY 2000 YUKON XL, TO MY DAUGHTER'S 2001 YUKON XL AND WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SHOP FOR REPAIR I WAS TOLD BY THE SHOP PERSONNEL THAT THEY HAD FIXED SEVERAL LIKE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE REPLACEMENT WINDOW IS COMPLETELY REDESIGNED INDICATING THAT THE FACTORY HAS BECOME AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS NO CALLED FOR A RECALL. THIS HAS BEEN APPEARING FOR SEVERAL YEARS. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE TO DATE WAS TO PLACE THE INCIDENT DATE AS TODAY'S DATE. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED WHEN SPEED WAS REDUCED TO 5 MPH AND THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATED BADLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR SERVICE. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED, SO THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ABS SYSTEM WAS DISCONNECTED. THE SERVICE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. UPDATED 1/19/2007 - *NM
BRAKES FAILED TO STOP PROPERLY, SURGING/INTERMITTENT PULSING AND STRANGE SOUNDS. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A NORMAL FUNCTION FOR ABS BRAKES. I TOLERATED AND DROVE CAREFULLY FOR YEARS. NOW I FIND THIS IS A SYMPTOM OF A GMC RECALL PROBLEM 05V-379. UPON CONTACTING GMC THEY SAY THEIR COMPUTERS NEED UPDATING AND IT "MAY" BE IN FOR RECALL BUT THE GMC DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT PARTS NOW. SOUNDS LIKE A MAJOR PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED ABOUT TOTAL FAILURE AND AM REGISTERING A COMPLAINT. THEY SAID THAT I COULD GET IT FIXED NOW AND THEN THEY "MAY" REIMBURSE ME LATER. I CALLED THE GMC NUMBER ON THEIR RECALL SITE, THE SITE SAID MY NUMBER "MAY" QUALIFY FOR RECALL. I AM CONFUSED AND FRUSTRATED NOW THAT I KNOW THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM FOR OTHER GMC PRODUCTS AND CAN'T GET FIXED. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITHOUT WARNING WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP. THERE WAS A NHTSA RECALL # 06E043000 REGARDING THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED OF THE INCIDENT.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL GAUGE READINGS WERE INACCURATE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP WHICH CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL # 05V155000, CONCERNING THE FUEL PUMP. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. UPDATED 8/14/2006 - THE FUEL PUMP WIRING MELTED INSIDE THE FUEL TANK. *NM
I HAVE A 2000 GMC YUKON (NON-XL). I WAS TURNING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT AND HEARD A CRUNCH IN THE FRONT ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO STRAIGHTEN OUT AND CONTINUED ONTO THE STREET, THE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. I HAD TO STRONG ARM IT HOME. I DID SOME RESEARCH ON RECALLS AND FOUND THAT THE 2000 GMC YUKON XL HAD IN FACT BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SYMPTOMS THAT MY VEHICLE HAD (NON XL). I CALLED GMC THE NEXT DAY AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION. I ASKED THEM IF THE SAME RECALLED POWER STEERING PARTS ARE USED FOR THE STANDARD AND THE XL YUKON. THE GMC REPRESENTATIVE WOULD NOT SAY YES OR NO, JUST NOT NECESSARILY IS ALL HE WOULD SAY. I TOLD THEM REGARDLESS THAT THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL ON THE STANDARD YUKON DUE TO THE FACT THAT OURS DID THE SAME EXACT THING AS THE YUKON XL HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR AND THAT THIS WAS A LIFE OR DEATH TYPE FAILURE IN THE RIGHT CIRCUMSTANCES (IE; DRIVING ON THE ROAD WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED). GMC REQUESTED THAT I TAKE MY YUKON TO THE DEALER AND FIND OUT EXACTLY WHAT HAD BROKE. I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY (MORE SORE ARMS) AND LEFT IT FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE DAMAGE THAT HAD BEEN DONE. THE DEALER GOT BACK TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP, SHAFT, ACTUATOR, AS WELL AS THE MOUNTING BRACKET HAD FAILED. THE DEALER HAD TALKED TO THE LOCAL GMC REPRESENTATIVE AND THEY DECIDED THAT THEY WOULD HELP WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THEY HOWEVER TOLD US THAT THEY WERE NOT BUYING THE PART OR THE LABOR BUT THEY WOULD OFFER $200 TOWARD THE COST OF THE REPAIR AND WE WOULD HAVE TO COME UP WITH THE BALANCE $350 FOR A TOTAL OF $550 TO REPAIR. I AM ALSO CURIOUS IF GMC WILL BE REPLACING MY BROKEN PARTS WITH THE EXACT SAME PARTS THAT ARE DESTINED TO BREAK AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. I WOULD EXPECT UPGRADED PARTS, BUT MAYBE THEY JUST WANT OUR BUSINESS AGAIN A YEAR OR TWO WHEN IT BREAKS AGAIN, THAT IS, IF WE LIVE THROUGH IT NEXT TIME. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ENGINE STALLS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC. A NHTSA RECALL, #05V155000 WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE CONCERNING, THE FUEL PUMP HOWEVER, THE RECALL DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT OFFER A SECOND REPAIR WITHOUT CHARGE UNDER THE RECALL.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP DRIVING 5 MPH THE BRAKES FAILED AND REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE BY ALL 3 OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE. HOWEVER INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED TO THE DRIVER. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE ON SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THE ABS LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO MAKE REPAIRS. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V37900, REGARDING THE SERVICE BRAKES, ANTILOCK. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

THREE WINDOW IN MY YUKON HAVE NOW FAILED. THE FIRST WAS THREE YEARS AGO WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABOUT THREE YEARS OLD. TWO MORE HAVE NOW FAILED. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS COMMON TO YUKON'S. *JB

MY 2000 GMC YUKON STARTED LEAKING GAS FROM THE FUEL PUMP INTO THE ELECTRICAL OF THE FUEL PUMP. THIS COULD BE SERIOUS AND COULD CAUSE THE TRUCK TO EXPLODE. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE DEATH OCCURS. *JB

I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE NHTSA IN 2005 FOR MY ANTI LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATING EVERY TIME I SLOW DOWN TO STOP. GMC SENT ME A RECALL NOTICE IN 2005 AND I BROUGHT MY YUKON XL IN TO FIX IT . THEY FIXED IT ,BUT NOW IT IS DOING IT AGAIN . *NM
MY 2000 YUKON XL PARKING BRAKE WORE OUT PRE-MATURELY, I THINK THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN FOR THE OWNER AND THE PUBLIC. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE IS AN NHTSA RECALL, 05V379000 CONCERNING THE ABS, HOWEVER THE RECALL DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. PRIOR TO THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWICE REGARDING THIS BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE HAD DIFFICULTIES STOPPING AT LOW SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS REPLACED. THE SECOND TIME THE FRONT BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE LAST TIME THE RECALL WORK WAS PERFORMED THE FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE DEALER HAS AGREED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AGAIN.
THE SPEED SENSOR FAILS AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 6 AND 9 MPG; RESULTING IN NO OR LIMITED ABILITY TO BRAKE. REPEATED NEAR ACCIDENTS HAVE OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC AND IN PARKING SITUATIONS. THE VEHICLE IS BEING REPAIRED AT THIS TIME AT JIM MURPHY PONTIAC-GMC TRUCK, INC. 3000 WALDEN AVE DEPEW, NY 14043 PHONE: 716-684-8900 FAX: 716-684-9050. I UNDERSTAND GM HAS RECALLED PRACTICALLY IDENTICAL VEHICLES SUCH AS THE GM TAHOE, SUBURBAN, ETC. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE GMC YUKON DENALI IS VIRTUALLY THE SAME VEHICLE AS THE GM TAHOE. I WOULD LIKE TO UNDERSTAND WHY THAT RECALL IS NOT APPLIED TO THE GMC YUKONS. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HAVING RECALL WORK COMPLETED UNDER RECALL 05V155000 CONCERNING THE FUEL SYSTEM, THE EVAPORATIVE EMISSION HOSE WAS BROKEN BY THE DEALERSHIP. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE BECAUSE THE BROKEN PART IS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IS NOW EMITTING FUMES INSIDE THE CONTACT'S GARAGE WHERE THE VEHICLE IS BEING STORED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. UPDATED 02/28/06. *JB
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 31 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD IN DRY CONDITIONS THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT STRUCK A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE FRONT PASSENGER HAD TO BE EXTRACTED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DASHBOARD COLLAPSED INTO THE FRONT SEAT ALONG WITH THE FIREWALL. THERE WERE 3 INJURIES, AND A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. A GM REPRESENTATIVE RETRIEVED THE BLACK DETECTION BOX, VERIFIED THE SPEED OF 31 MPH, AND DETERMINED THAT THE AIRBAGS SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. GM PURCHASED THE SALVAGED VEHICLE FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY AND DESTROYED IT. *AK
REF PRESENT RECALL ON 1999-2002 CHEVY & GMC SILVERADO, YUKON LIGHT TRUCKS. I NOTICE THAT RUST IS THE FACTOR IN THE ANTI-LOCK SENSOR RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO FURTHER ADD THAT RUST IS ALSO RESPONSIBLE FOR BREAKDOWN IN ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAVE A 2000 YUKON WITH 26000 MILES THAT HAS EXTREME RUST DECAY TO REAR AXLE BACKING PLATES AND FRONT ROTORS. THE LOCAL DEALER WHEN QUESTIONED ADMITTED ITS DUE TO RUST BELT ISSUES. I DID NOTICE THAT GM HAS ADMITTED TO HAVING RUST BELT ISSUES WITH ITS BRAKING SYSTEM. WHY ARE YOU NOT REQUIRING THEM TO MITIGATE THE ENTIRE SYSTEM WHICH IS EFFECTED? ARE THEY NOT PART & PARCEL OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM? WHY SHOULD THE CONSUMER BE SADDLED WITH THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR OF REPLACING THESES COMPONENTS WHICH IF THEY HAVE NOT FAILED SERIOUSLY IMPAIR THE BRAKING AND HANDLING OF THE VEHICLES IN QUESTION. MY 2000 GMC YUKON DENALI IS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL 05068 FROM GMC. GMC HAS TOLD ME THAT MY VEHICLE FALLS UNDER THE RIGHT TIME FRAME BUT DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE RIGHT VIN NUMBERS. I AM HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS! THE FOLLOWING IS AN EMAIL THAT I RECEIVED FROM GMC: VEHICLES OF A MODEL YEAR ARE AFFECTED. THERE IS AN UPCOMING RECALL 05068 FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR- DESCRIPTION: ABS WHEEL SENSORS. GENERAL MOTORS WILL NOTIFY ALL OWNERS OF INVOLVED VEHICLES BEGINNING 10/12/2005. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR DIVISIONS (DMV) HAS YOUR CURRENT INFORMATION FOR MAILING PURPOSES IN CASE YOUR VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. BELOW ARE SOME INFORMATION THAT MAY BE HELPFUL FOR THE UPCOMING RECALL. DESCRIPTION OF CONDITION: SOME OF THE SUBJECT VEHICLES MAY EXPERIENCE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE ASSOCIATED WITH UNWANTED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATION DURING LOW-SPEED BRAKE APPLICATIONS (LESS THAN 10 MPH AND GREATER THAN 3.7 MPH). THIS CONDITION DOES NOT SET ANY ABS CODES NOR DOES IT ILLUMINATE THE ABS WARNING LAMP. THIS CONDITION IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR IN ENVIRONMENTALLY CORROSIVE AREAS, BASED ON FIELD REPORT DATA. CONSEQUENCE OF CONDITION: WHEN THE PEAK-TO-PEAK WHEEL SPEED SENSOR VOLTAGE LEVEL RECEIVED AT THE ABS CONTROLLER IS BELOW THE MINIMUM SPECIFIED PEAK-TO-PEAK LEVEL, THE ABS CONTROLLER INTERPRETS THIS AS A WHEEL SPEED THAT IS LESS THAN THE ACTUAL WHEEL SPEED. IN OTHER WORDS, THE ABS INTERPRETS THE WHEEL AS SLIPPING WHEN IT IS NOT. IF THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, AN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE MAY BE REQUIRED. *JB

- INACCURATE FUEL LEVEL READINGS EVERYTIME THE GAS TANK IS FULL - ANYTIME THE TRUCK IS DRIVEN OR IN PARK IT SHOWS THE EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND STAYS ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN OVER A BUMP OR SOMETHING. - I LOOKED ON LINE AND I NOTICED THAT THERE HAS BEEN ALREADY A SERVICE RECALL ISSUED BUT NOT FOR THE YUKON, ITS FOR THE YUKON XL HOWEVER I CONTACTED GMC AND I EXPLAINED THAT I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AS THE XL, THERE RESPONSE WAS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL BEEN ISSUED FOR THE YUKON. WITH IN MIND THAT BOTH OF THESE VEHICLE LINES USE OR SHARE MOST OF THEIR PARTS. *JB
OUR GAS GAUGE ON OUR 2000 GMC YUKON COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING. TOOK IT IN THINKING IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND FOUND OUT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BROKEN. THE PROBLEM THAT COST US A LOT OF MONEY WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS LOCATED INSIDE THE GAS TANK AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE GAS TANK TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FIRST, WHY WOULD THIS HAPPEN ON A CAR THIS NEW WITH ONLY AROUND 50,000 MILES AND SECOND, WHY PUT THE FUEL PUMP INSIDE THE GAS TANK SO THAT IT IS SO EXPENSIVE TO FIX? *JB
I PULLED A BOAT WITH THE VEHICLE (2000 GMC YUKON XL 2500) ABOUT 275 MILES TO A LAKE AND PUT IT IN THE WATER. TOOK THE BOAT OUT OF THE WATER AND STARTED BACKING IT INTO A SPACE WHEN I HEARD A STRANGE "POP". THEN REALIZED THAT ALL POWER ASSISTED BRAKING AND STEERING WAS GONE. HAD TO LEAVE THE BOAT WHERE IT WAS, AND WAS HAPPY THE PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY FAMILY. TESTED THE VEHICLE TO MAKE SURE I COULD STEER AND STOP IT UNDER CAREFUL CIRCUMSTANCES, THEN DROVE IT DIRECTLY, SLOWLY, AND CAREFULLY TO THE DEALER ABOUT 50 MILES. MY OWN INVESTIGATION FOUND A RECALL ID NUMBER 05V005000: "HYDRAULIC PUMP DRIVESHAFT THAT CAN FRACTURE, RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. ON CERTAIN VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKES, THE SAME CONDITION CAN RESULT IN LOSS OF POWER ASSIST FOR BRAKING AFTER THE RESERVE PRESSURE IS DEPLETED." THE DEALER CONFIRMED THIS WAS EXACTLY THE PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE, BUT THE RECALL DID NOT COVER MY VIN - [XXX]. SEEMED STRANGE TO ME THAT 98000+ OTHER VEHICLES OF THE SAME TYPE FROM THE SAME YEAR ARE COVERED, BUT MINE WASN'T. NOW I SEE THAT THERE ARE AT LEAST TWO OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE WITH THE SAME CIRCUMSTANCES AS MINE. I THINK THE RECALL NEEDS TO BE WIDENED. THOUGH I GOT NO INITIAL HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, I CALLED THE GMC RECALL 800 NUMBER AND THEY DIRECTED ME BACK TO THE DEALERS GENERAL MANAGER AND SAID I SHOULD HAVE HIM SPEAK TO THE GM REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT COMPENSATION IN MY CASE. I DID THAT, AND AT LEAST THEY DID COVER THE COST OF THE PART (ABOUT $500), BUT NOT THE LABOR OF $193 TO REPLACE THE PUMP. I ASKED TO KEEP THE OLD PUMP AND WAS TOLD THAT I COULD, BUT WAS NOT GIVEN THE PUMP OR AN EXPLANATION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PICKED UP. THE RECEIPT FROM THE DEALER SEEMS TO INDICATE A "CORE RETURN" UNDER PARTS, SO I GUESS I WOULD HAVE HAD TO PAY TO KEEP THE OLD PART AND NOT RETURN IT. FUEL LEAK AT THE MAIN FUEL TANK ACCESS PORT. THIS VEHICLE HAS TWO FUEL TANKS, THE SMALLER AUXILIARY TANK(WHICH ARE OEM) HOLD ABOUT 8 GALLONS. UPON FILLING THE VEHICLE TO ITS CAPACITY, FUEL WOULD LEAK OUT UNTIL THE AUXILIARY TANK WAS EMPTY AND AS LONG AS YOU DO NOT FILL COMPLETELY FULL ( 3/4 ON THE FUEL GAUGE) IT WOULD NOT LEAK FUEL. THIS PROBLEM EVENTUALLY CAUSED THE FUEL PUMPS TO GO BAD AND WHERE REPLACED AND THE LEAK FIXED. NOW ON NOVEMBER 29, 2007 AFTER COMPLETELY FILLING THE LEAK IS BACK AGAIN, UP UNTIL THIS POINT THE REPAIR ALOUD COMPLETE FILLING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED AND SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE ONTO THE SHOULDER AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE FUEL PRESSURE PUMP AND ECM WERE DIAGNOSED AS THE CAUSES OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FUEL DELIVERY PUMP AND FUSES AT THE COST OF $850.26. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE FUEL SYSTEM RECALL. HOWEVER, IF THE RECALL HAPPENS TO EXPAND TO INCLUDE MORE VEHICLES, THE CONTACT COULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,374 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
WHILE APPLYING BRAKES AT VERY LOW SPEED THE ABS SYSTEM ACTIVATES RESULTING IN AN INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. NO WARNING LIGHT GOES ON. THIS OCCURS ON A DRY SURFACE WITH NO WHEEL SLIP. 29,000 MILES ON VEHICLE.
ANTILOCK BRAKES SLIP AT LOW SPEADS AND FAIL TO STOP VEHICLE. BOTH MY WIFE AND I HAVE HAD INCIDENCES IN RECENT WEEKS WHERE WE NEEDED TO RELEASE THE PEDAL AND RESET STOPPING JUST BARELY IN TIME BEFORE A COLLISION. WE PLAN ON BRING THE CAR INTO GMC THIS WEEK. NO INDICATOR IS ILLUMINATED. OUR COMPLAINT SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE05020 OPENED ON 4-28-05.
ABS SENSOR WENT BAD IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY. ABS WOULD GO OFF ON DRY ROADS JUST BEFORE VEHICLE STOPPED. SOMETIMES THIS CAUSED OUR VEHICLE TO TAKE LONGER TO STOP. WE HAD THE WHOLE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY REPLACED BY A NON DEALER GARAGE TO THE TUNE OF $382.47. NOW ONE YEAR LATER THE PROBLEM IS BACK. I THINK GM HAS A BIG PROBLEM HERE AND SHOULD RECALL ALL THESE. OUR 2000 GMC YUKON XL ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT.
AT SLOW BRAKING SPEEDS {AT 5 MPH} THE ABS BRAKES GO OFF EVERY TIME YOU STOP. WHEN COASTING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AT 5 MPH, WHEN THE BRAKES GO OFF THEY LOCK UP AND THEY DO NOT LET GO. WHEN THEY LOCK UP, AND YOUR CANNOT STOP OR CONTROL THE BRAKING, YOU RUN INTO THE CARS PARKED IN FRONT OF ME. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICHLE ANY MORE BECAUSE SHE CANNOT CONTROL THE STOPPING. I REMOVED THE FUSES THAT CONTROL THE ABS BRAKING SO THAT I CAN CONTROL MY BRAKING.

MY GMC YUKON XL HAS BRAKING AND FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEMS, I HAVE HAD 1 ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE YUKONS BRAKES DEACTIVATING WHILE HITTING A SMALL BUMP ON THE STREET WHILE TRYING TO AVOID THE ACCIDENT. POWER WINDOWS IN DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FAILED. THE MOTOR, REGULATOR, CABLE, AND PULLEY BREAK DOWN AND GETS TANGLED INSIDE AND JAMS UP. THE ENTIRE SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE DRIVER SIDE WENT THE END OF THE SUMMER OF 2004 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT THE MIDDLE OF APRIL. THE WINDOW DOES NOT MOVE
WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES ON MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL I HAVE EXPERIENCED ENGAGEMENT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES AND SUBSEQUENT INCREASED DISTANCE REQUIRED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS RELATED TO THIS PROBLEM. THE DESCRIBED PROBLEM USUALLY OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS, 25-40MPH, AND GOOD ROAD CONDITIONS (DRY PAVEMENT). I HAVE RECENTLY HAD MAINTANCE WORK PREFORMED ON THIS VEHICLE AT THE GMC DEALERSHIP WHEIRE I PURCHASED THE CAR. I REPORTED THE BRAKING PROBLEM TO THE SERVICE MANAGERAND ASKED THAT THE BRAKE AND ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM BE INSPECTED. PRIOR TO VISUAL INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM A TEST DRIVE WAS COMPLETED IN AN ATTEMPT TO DUPLICATE THE BRAKING PROBLEM. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE "VIBRATION: WAS DUE TO A PROBLEM IN THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT DID NOT POSE ANY SAFETY THREAT. I EXPLAINED AGAIN THAT THE "VIBRATION" WAS NOT FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL BUT IN THE BRAKE SHOE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE INSPECTED AND REPORTED TO HAVE 80% WEAR ON THE FRONT BRAKE PADS. THE REAR BRAKE PADS HAD BEEN REPLACED ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO AND STILL LOOKED GOOD. THERE WAS NO REPORTED PROBLEM WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES. I REQUESTED TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKE PADS REPLACED AT THAT TIME. ALL MAINTANCE SERVICE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF OIL AND FILTER CHANGES HAS BEEN DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED.

ON MY 2000 GMC YUKON XL, A COMPUTER MODULE FOR THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE AND GOES OUT CAUSING A SMALL ELECTRIC MOTOR TO STAY ON RUNNING THE BATTERY DOWN. THE FUSE FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MUST BE REMOVED, THUS DISABLING THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM TO KEEP THE BATTERY FROM DYING. THIS HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TWICE ON MY VEHICLE AND ALSO TO MANY OTHERS WITH 1999-2002 YUKONS. GMC KNOWS OF THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO CORRECT IT. *NM
