WHILE PERFORMING REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON MY 2001 GMC YUKON 4WD 5.3 LTR, I OBSERVED SEVERE CORROSION OF BRAKE LINES AT BOTH FRONT AND REAR OF VEHICLE. CORROSION IS SO SEVERE THAT PERFORATION IS LIKELY TO OCCUR AT ANY TIME, POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN COMPLETE BRAKE LOSS. *TR
TOTAL FAILURE OF STEEL BRAKE LINE (FRONT TO REAR) WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT AFTER A DOCTOR VISIT I WAS SHOCKED TO FEEL MY BRAKE PEDAL GO TO THE FLOOR, LUCKILY THE SPLIT SYSTEM ALLOWED ME TO STOP BEFORE ENTERING A BUSY HIGHWAY. CAR WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR REPAIR THE OWNER SAYS THIS HAPPENS ALOT AFTER PAYING A 250.00 BILL I WAS ON MY WAY CONSIDERING RISKS ENVOLVED I FEEL MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE MADE TO BY LAW TO USE STAINLESS MATERIAL FOR ALL BRAKE COMPONENTS. THEY MUST NOW BE USING A LOW GRADE STEEL (NO DOUBT TO CUT MANUFACTURING COSTS). *TR
I ALSO HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE PARKING BRAKE AND ABS. IF MORE PEOPLE COMPLAIN MAYBE THERE WILL BE ACTION TAKEN. I DO HAVE A FUEL MODULE RECALL THAT I HOPE IS GOING TO BE CORRECTED. THERE ARE SOME DEALERS THAT DO NOT WANT TO EVEN CORRECT YOUR SAFETY RECALL. I AM HAVING TO TRAVEL AN HOUR AND A HALF TO A DEALER OUT OF TOWN BECAUSE MY LOCAL DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO DEAL WITH ME. *TR
GAS GUAGE NOT WORKING ON 2001 YUKON DENALI. TANK WAS FILLED UP & THE FUEL GAUGE READ @ 'E'. THE LOW FUEL LIGHT CAME ON & THE SOUND CAME ON. IT HAS OCCURED ALL THE TIME NOW & THEN IT RE-READS THE CORRECT AMT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. *TR
IN JUNE OF 2010 MY FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AND I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A SHOP AND FIXED 700.00. THEN IN JULY OF 2011 THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT AGAIN, SAME THING HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED AND FIXED AT THE SAME SHOP ANOTHER 700.00. THEN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER OF 2012, TOWED TO SAME SHOP AND SAME PRICE. NOW HERE WE ARE 2014 AND MY FUEL PUMP JUST WENT OUT FOR THE FOURTH TIME. I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING ABOUT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD MY HUB BEARING REPLACED AND MY WHEEL ALMOST FELL OFF. JUST THIS PAST FEBRUARY I HAD A GAS LEAK FROM THE LINE AND A WHOLE TANK OF GAS WAS ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. I'M GLAD I JUST FOUND OUT DUE TO LOOKING ONLINE ABOUT ALL THE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE. NOW MY QUESTION IS WHO'S GOING TO REPLACE MY FUEL PUMP THIS TIME AND MAKE SURE I DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM ANYMORE. *TR
REAR GLASS HINGE SEPARATED FROM WINDOW IN 2001 GMC YUKON XL. *TR
STEPPED ON BRAKES IN A PANIC STOP. BLEW OUT RUSTED BRAKE LINE NEAR FRONT OF CAR. ONE BY ONE, ALL OF THE STEEL BRAKE LINES ARE FAILING DUE TO RUST. I JUST BLEW THE STEEL BRAKE LINE AT THE REAR OF THE CAR NEAR THE DIFFERENTIAL. *TR THE ABS SENSORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO CORROSION AND THEY ABS PUMP HAS BEEN REBUILT. THE PARKING BRAKES ON THIS CAR HAVE BEEN REPLACE 4 TIMES AND HAVE NEVER WORKED CORRECTLY. *TR
FRONT END SQUEAKS REAL BAD WHEN TURNED SHARP. *TR

WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A LOW SPEED NEAR STOPPING THE BRAKE KICKS BACK AS IF THE ABS BECOMES ACTIVATED AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS INCREASED. THIS OCCURS ON ALL SURFACES WET OR DRY. THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED AND THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. THE SAME VEHICLE (YEAR/MAKE/MODEL) HAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE BUT I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL PER THE VIN NUMBER. THE GM RECALL NUMBER IS 05068 AND YOUR REPORT NUMBER IS 05V521000. [XXX]. THE SYSTEM WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO ENTER THIS AS MY VIN. *TR
THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ENGAGES AT LOW SPEEDS EVERY TIME I STOP. THIS COULD CAUSE FRONT END COLLISION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT COMPLETELY STOP WHEN BRAKING AND I DO NOT HAVE CONTROL. GM WOULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE ON MY VEHICLE DUE TO HIGH MILEAGE EVEN THOUGH MILEAGE WAS NOT A FACTOR. OTHER YUKON VEHICLES WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BUT MY VIN FOR SOME REASON WAS NOT INCLUDED. *TR
NEAR MAJOR ACCIDENT ON I95 DUE TO BROKEN BRAKE LINE. *TR
2001GMC YUKON DENALI - ABS BRAKES ENGAGE AT PARKING LOT SPEEDS INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCES AT SLOW SPEEDS. THERE APPEARS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS (66163) AND NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN (O5V-379000) FOR 2002+ CARS BUT NOT 2001. I BELIEVE THAT 2001 WAS THE MODEL YEAR CHANGEOVER WHERE SOME 2001S WERE OLD BODY STYLE AND SOME NEW. MINE IS THE NEWER STYLE. *TR
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE, STOPPED VEHICLE, NOTICED THAT GAS WAS LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE ISSUE. QUOTED $970 TO FIX. FUEL NIPPLE BROKE ON FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. ENTIRE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED. GM RECALLED 316,058 VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER. GMC WILL NOT COMPENSATE EVEN THOUGH OTHER YUKON XL'S AND CHEVY SUBURBAN'S HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO OWNS A 2001 CHEVY SUBURBAN AND HE HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN TO HIS VEHICLE. HE HAD TO HAVE THE SAME PART REPLACED ON HIS VEHICLE. THIS PROBLEM IS A SAFETY ISSUE. LOOKED AT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY THAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE FACT THAT ONE OF THE 3 PLASTIC NIPPLES BROKE, I FEEL THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS PART IS DEFECTIVE. NOW GMC HAS A LIFETIME GUARANTEE ON THE REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THIS TELLS M THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT THE ORIGINAL ONES WERE FAULTY PARTS. SO IN OTHER WORDS WE'VE GOT GOOD NEWS AND BAD NEWS...WE WILL GUARANTEE THE PART FOR LIFETIME BUT IT WILL COST YOU $970 FOR A PART THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO REPLACE. THIS WAS NOT DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR. THEY HAVE PLASTIC NIPPLES ON THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY LINE. GAS EATS PLASTIC. *TR
RECALLED' ANTI LOCK BRAKES 2001 GMC YUKON *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES ON HIS VEHICLE. THE SENSOR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY APPLY THE BRAKES WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKES WOULD AUTOMATICALLY LOCK WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS. A MECHANIC STATED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS NO RECALL SO THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE THE COMPONENT FOR FREE. THE CONTACT TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A TSB FOR THE FAILURE. HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $300 TO REPLACE THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT HE WOULD HAVE HIS MECHANIC REPAIR IT FOR $75. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,783.
2001 YUKON XL ABS CONTROL MODULE TOTAL FAILURE AT 49K MILES. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS WELL KNOWN AND DOCUMENTED. TOTAL FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. GM CONTINUES TO CHARGE APPROXIMATELY $2000 TO TEMPORARILY "FIX" THIS PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE ABS CONTROL MODULE, ONLY TO HAVE IT FAIL AGAIN AFTER ANOTHER 20-40K MILES. THE PROBLEM HAS FOSTERED A COTTAGE INDUSTRY PROVIDING ABS CONTROL MODULES WITH SUPERIOR COMPONENTS FOR 1/10TH GM PRICE. IT IS OBVIOUS GM IS FULLY AWARE THERE IS A SERIOUS DEFECT IN THE KELSEY/HAYES ABS CONTROL MODULE DUE TO INFERIOR DESIGN AND COMPONENT SELECTION, BUT SO FAR REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE RESPONSIBILITIES OR PROVIDE RELIABLE REPAIR. *TR
MY 2001 GMC YUKON XL BURST INTO FLAMES WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GIVING MYSELF AND MY 4 OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS SECONDS TO EXIT THE CAR IN TRAFFIC FOR NO KNOWN REASON AND SIGNAL OF FIRE. MY CAR HAS SEVERAL RECALLS ON FAULTY PARTS WHICH CATCH ON FIRE. WHAT SHOULD I DO, CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ME. MY INSURANCE COMPANY (GEICO) REFUSES TO HELP WITH REIMBURSEMENT OF THE CAR OR ANY PERSONAL POSSESSIONS OR NOW TIME LOST FROM WORK CAUSING MORE EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON XL 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE LEAKS WHENEVER IT RAINS. THE ROOF IS LEAKING FROM THE FACTORY MADE ROOF RACK BECAUSE IT IS CORRODED AND CREATED A HOLE. WATER ACCUMULATES IN THE SEATS AND UNDER THE MATS, CAUSING MILDEW AND MOLD. AS A RESULT, HIS FAMILY BECOMES ILL WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURS. THE DEALER STATED THAT DUE TO THE SALT WATER RAIN, THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE IS KEPT OUTSIDE AND HAS EXCESSIVE MILEAGE, AND THE CONTACT IS NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER, THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SERVICED SINCE THE TIME IT WAS PURCHASED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT MUST PAY OUT OF POCKET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL DAYS IN AN UNCOVERED DRIVEWAY IN THE RAIN. WHEN THE CONTACT OPENED THE DOOR OF THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT WATER PENETRATED THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. THE CARPET, SEATS, AND SEAT BELTS WERE DAMAGED WITH MILDEW. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AVAILABLE. HE WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER ESTIMATED THE COST OF THE DIAGNOSIS TO BE APPROXIMATELY $165 TO BE PAID BY THE CONTACT. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 78,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON XL DENALI. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY BRAKING FAILURE WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ABS WAS MALFUNCTIONING, THE SPEED SENSOR WAS FAILING, AND THE SPEED CONNECTORS WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE SPEED SENSOR AND ADVISED HER TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR. ONCE AT THE DEALER, THEY REFUSED TO MAKE THE REPAIRS BECAUSE HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER BACK AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND STATED THAT NO REPAIRS WOULD BE MADE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 146,000.
01 GMC YUKON DENALI XL - SPARE TIRE HOIST CABLE BROKE AND SPARE TIRE FELL FROM VEHICLE WHILE IN OPERATION. LUCKILY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AND NOBODY WAS HURT BUT THIS COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY BEEN VERY SERIOUS. *TR
CORROSION BETWEEN FRONT HUB/BEARING ASSEMBLY AND WHEEL SPEED SENSOR IN GMC YUKON XL CAUSING UNWANTED ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATION WHEN VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 7 MPH DURING BRAKING. CAN LEAD TO CRASH. RECALL BULLETIN 05068 COVERS THIS ISSUE AND MY VIN IS IN THE BULLETIN FOR RECALL, BUT GM WILL NOT COVER EXPENSE FOR REPAIR. THEIR ELECTRONIC DATABASE DOESN'T HAVE MY VIN IN THE SYSTEM AND REFUSE SERVICE DESPITE ITS INCLUSION WITHIN THE RECALL. I LIVE IN OHIO AND BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN OHIO. THE RECALL COVERS OHIO VEHICLES AND OTHER HIGH CORROSION STATES IN THE U.S. *TR
AFTER TURNING OFF CAR NOTICE THE ABS PUMPS CONTINUES TO RUN. DEALER STATES ABS CONTROL MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE HAPPENED TWICE SO FAR: 1ST TIME AT 45,000 MILES WITH AN ESTIMATED REPAIR COST OF $1200 AND 2ND TIME AT 113,000 MILES WITH AN ESTIMATED REPAIR COST OF $1325. THIS TYPE OF FAIL RATE SEEMS UNACCEPTABLE ESPECIALLY TO A SAFETY COMPONENT. THE FAILED PART IS STILL IN MY POSSESSION. *TR
I HAVE A 2001 GMC YUKON SUV. THE ABS CONTROLLER MODULE WENT OUT AT 22,K MILES AND COST $1900 TO REPLACE. AT A GMC DEALER AND WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY ALTHOUGH THE CAR WAS STILL IN WARRANTY. THIS WEEK AT ~45K MILES IT WENT OUT AGAIN AND COST $1750 AT A LOCAL GARAGE. SOME THING IS DEFINITELY WRONG WHEN TWO SUCH MODULES FAIL IN SUCH A SHORT TIME. THERE IS A VERY DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE HERE. I AM A VERY CONSERVATIVE SAFE DRIVER BUT HAVE LEARNED ON THE INTERNET THAT SUCH FAILURES ARE COMMON. A RECALL SHOULD BE REQUIRED OF GENERAL MOTORS! *TR
I HAVE A 2001 GMC / YUKON XL DENALI WHICH HAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000/ NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE05020 THE BRAKES ARE EXHIBITING THIS ISSUE. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER, MY VIN DOES NOT "FALL" INTO RECALL. MY CONCERNS IS THAT MY VEHICLE CANNOT BAKE SAFELY AND SHOULD BE PART OF THIS RECALL. *TR
UPON COMPLETING A 400 MILE VACATION, I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AT HOME, WHILE PULLING A LARGE CAMPER, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED, GOOD THING I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST GM. DEALER AND THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE PUMP SHAFT SHEARED IN TWO. *TR
UPON APPLYING MY BRAKES AT LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 10MPH) ON MY 2001 YUKON XL, THERE IS SHUDDERING FROM THE FRONT AND AT TIMES THE BRAKES SEEM TO BECOME INEFFECTIVE. IT IS AS IF THE ABS IS PUMPING THE BRAKES, BUT IT IS OCCURRING ON DRY PAVEMENT. I RECENTLY ((7/16/08) BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED THAT ONE OF THE ABS SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AFTER BEING INFORMED OF THIS, I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT THERE IS A RECALL DUE TO POTENTIAL CORROSION OF THE ABS SENSORS BUT IT IS EFFECTIVE FOR ONLY SPECIFIC STATES. I LIVE IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA AND HAVE DRIVEN THROUGH THE AFFECTED STATES NUMEROUS OF TIMES DURING WINTER WHERE SALT, ETC. IS USED ON THE ROADS. IN THE NORTHERN VA AREA, SALT IS ALSO HEAVILY USED. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO THOSE STATE THAT BORDER THE "SALT BELT" STATES. THIS OCCURRENCE BEGAN AROUND APRIL 2008 AND THE LATEST INCIDENT WAS TODAY 7/16/08. *TR
CONTINUOUS BRAKING PROBLEMS. I UNDERSTAND NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY FRONT ROTORS, CALIPERS, BRAKES, EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. FOR THE LAST 5 MONTHS MY ABS & EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF DURING DRIVING. I HAVE HAD A GMC DEALERSHIP (FOLSOM GMC) AND LES SCHWAB PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC CHECKS TO ONLY TELL ME THAT I NEED TO REPLACE BRAKE PADS AND CALIPERS AGAIN DUE TO WEAR. THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETECT WHY THE TWO LIGHTS COME ON. LAST NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME THE TWO LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN, THIS TIME I NOTICED A LOUD MOTOR RUNNING, EVEN WHEN MY VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF THE MOTOR NOISE CONTINUED. ONCE I PULLED THE ABS FUSE OUT OF THE CONTROL BOX THE MOTOR STOPPED. I AM TAKING THE VEHICLE INTO HAVE IT SERVICED AGAIN. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE YOUR COMPANY PERFORM AN INVESTIGATION ON THE ANTILOCKING SYSTEM AND BRAKE SYSTEM ON THESE VEHICLES. ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. INTERMITTENTLY. AND ENGINE WON'T RE-START WITHOUT NUMEROUS TRIES. THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE AND WORSE. STALLING 3 OR TIMES A DAY, WITHOUT WARNING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON XL 2500. THE CRANK CASE POSITION SENSOR SHUTS ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL AND IT MAY NOT RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE FAILURE IS RELATED TO NHTSA#07V521000 AND GM RECALL# 06083, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. A DIFFERENT AUTHORIZED DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND STATED THAT THE CRANK SHAFT POSITION SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE REPAIR COST WAS $800 AND IF THE FAILURE AFFECTED THE TRANSMISSION ADDITIONAL FEES WOULD BE INCLUDED. A LOCAL MECHANIC REPAIRED THE TRANSMISSION AT FOR LESS THAN $800. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THE CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE BRAKE LINES ON MY SUV. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK, THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH ILLUMINATED, THE BREAKS FELT A LITTLE SOFT UPON BRAKING. TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP FOR EVALUATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINES FROM THE ABS TO THE REAR BREAKS HAD RUPTURED. THIS OCCURRED AT 54,444 MILES ON AUG 16, 2007. APPROXIMATELY 8 MONTHS LATER, THE SAME SITUATION HAPPENED, BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND BRAKES FELT SPONGY. TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BRAKE LINES FROM THE ABS TO THE FRONT BRAKES HAD RUPTURED THIS TIME. THIS HAPPENED ON 3/28/08 AND 58,921 MILES. ALL LINES WERE FABRICATED AND REPLACED. MY COMPLAINT PERTAINS TO HEATED SEATS - I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM PA ON 3/16/08 IN THE EARLY AM. MY 17 YR OLD SON WAS IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND A FRIEND OF HIS, MIKE WAS ASLEEP ON THE MIDDLE ROW OF SEATS. HE HAD A BLANKET WRAPPED UP TO MAKE A PILLOW AND LAID IT ON THE SEAT. MY SON AND I BEGIN TO SMELL A FOUL ODOR AND ASSUMED IT WAS THE MANF. PLANTS THAT WE WERE PASSING BY. IT WASN'T UNTIL MIKE WAS AWAKENED BY THE HEAT ON HIS HAND, THAT WE REALIZED THE SEAT WAS SMOLDERING. MIKE DID RECEIVE MINOR BURNS ON HIS HAND/ARM. WHEN MIKE MOVED THE BLANKET, IT WAS BURNT ALL THE WAY THROUGH AND RESEMBLED "SWISS CHEESE". THE SEAT HAS A BURN IN IT THE SIZE OF A SOFTBALL. WE WERE ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE SMOLDERING WITH WATER BOTTLES THAT WE HAD IN THE CAR. HAD THE BLANKET NOT BEEN FLAME RETARDANT, I HATE TO THINK WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO MIKE'S FACE AND HEAD! ALSO, THE THOUGHT OF A BABY OR SMALL CHILD SITTING IN THAT BACK SEAT, MAKES ME ILL. *TR
HEATED SEAT MODULE FAILED AND INSTEAD OF JUST NOT WORKING IT STAYED ON, RAN MY BATTERY DOWN, CAUSED MY SEAT TO GET REALLY HOT TO THE TOUCH AND I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT IT CATCHING FIRE. IF A MODULE IS FAULTY IT SHOULD SHUT OFF NOT STAY ON AND CAUSED THE POSSIBILITY OF A FIRE AND RUN YOUR BATTERY DOWN. GM HAD TO DISCONNECT THE SEAT MODULE TO GET IT TO GO OFF. THEY WANT $481 TO FIX AND COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. I PAID THEM $150 TO DISCONNECT AND THIS WAY I KNOW IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, MY YUKON COULD HAVE BURNED UP.....AFTER BUYING A NEW BATTERY (SINCE THIS CAUSED THE OTHER ONE TO GO BAD)I HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO CARL BLACK TO DISCONNECT PERMANENTLY. *TR
INTERIOR ABS LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THEN A HUMMING NOISE HEARD UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE COMPARTMENT. GMC DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS FAILURE OF THE ABS ELECTRONIC MODULE UNIT. THEY ADVISED ME THAT IT WOULD BE $1130.00 + TAX TO REPLACE. THIS BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED AT 70,000 MILES. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN TO THIS VEHICLE. THE OTHER TIME IT WAS UNDER A EXTENDED WARRANTY (09/2004). I HOPE THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN EVERY 3 YEARS. DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY REPLACE THEM ALL THE TIME. I WAS TOLD IT WAS PLACED NEXT TO THE FRAME WHERE WATER COULD GET IN THE UNIT AND CAUSE DAMAGE...ENOUGH TO REPLACE. HOPEFULLY A RECALL CAMPAIGN WILL HAPPEN BEFORE I HAVE TO REPLACE THE NEXT ONE. WAS DRIVING ON I-10 BACK TO PHOENIX HAD PAST MARANA OUTSIDE OF TUCSON WHEN MY SUV STARTED TO TREMBLE A LITTLE BIT WONDERING WHAT THAT WAS BUT BEFORE I CAN PULL OVER THE TIRE BLEW OUT AND LOST CONTROL FOR A SECOND BUT WAS ABLE TO CONTROL IT AND GET PULL OFF TO THE RIGHT OF THE FREEWAY. AT ABOUT 60,000 MILES THE ENTIRE LIFT GATE BROKE AWAY AND FELL ONTO THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING. A REPLACEMENT LIFT GATE GLASS HAD TO BE PURCHASED FROM A JUNK YARD FOR $500. INSTALLATION WAS PERFORMED BY MYSELF. *TR

GMC STATED THAT THEY CANNOT INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO REPORTS AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,995 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

THE CORRECT TIRE SIZE WAS UNAVAILABLE IN THE DROP DOWN MENU AT THE TIME OF THIS COMPLAINT. THE VIN, ENGINE SIZE, AND PURCHASE DATE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 75,000.

IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FLEX PLATE CONNECTING THE CRANK TORQUE CONVERTER WAS FRACTURED. THE CONSUMER STATED THE PROBABLE FAILURE MODE ON THIS PART IS FLEXURAL FATIGUE WHICH WOULD RESULT MISALIGNMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION INPUT SHAFT AND THE CRANKSHAFT, OR EXCESSIVE RUN OUT ON THE ATTACHMENT SURFACE OF EITHER THE CRANKSHAFT OR THE CONVERTER.
