WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONSUMER SEEN THAT FRONT/REAR TIRE TREAD HAD SEPARATED. THE CONSUMER REPAIRED THE REAR TIRES ONLY. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM , BUT DID NOT RESOLVE. FIRESTONE STEEL TEX#LT245R16 PLEASE PROVIDE THE DOT NUMBER.*AK
POWER STEERING PUMP FAILURE 2001 YUKON XL. DEALER DETERMINED FAILURE TO BE A SHEARED SHAFT ON THE POWER STEERING PUMP, WHICH CAUSED IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. FORTUNATELY THE FAILURE OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT. DEALER AND GM CONCLUDE THAT FAILURE WAS DUE TO COLD WEATHER. TEMPERATURE (ACCORDING TO LOG FROM LOCAL AIRPORT) WAS 21.2 DEGREES F AT THE APPROXIMATE TIME OF FAILURE (ABOUT 5:30 PM ON 2-5-2004). VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 46,000 MILES AT THE TIME. THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS IMMEDIATE TURNED ONE DIRECTION, EVERYTHING WAS FINE, TURNED BACK AND HAD NO POWER ASSIST. ATTEMPTED TO REMEDY THROUGH GM AND WAS FLATLY DENIED, ALTHOUGH DEALER SERVICE MANAGER ADMITS THAT THIS IS NOT A RARE OCCURRENCE ON VEHICLES OF THIS PLATFORM. I AM PERSONALLY AWARE OF ONE OTHER FAILURE ON SIMILAR VEHICLE (CHEVY PICKUP), WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER THE STANDARD 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. GM APPARENTLY DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ON A 5500 POUND SUV A SAFETY ISSUE I ON THE OTHER HAND AM JUST GLAD IT DID NOT OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.*AK
WHEN DRIVING AT AN UNDETERMINED SPEED, THE RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEW OUT. THIS CAUSED THE DRIVER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THE CONSUMER CHANGED THE TIRE. THE TIRES HAD 57,000 MILES ON THEM, AND THERE WERE NO OBJECTS ON THE ROAD. *AK THE TEMPERATURE WAS 15 DEGREES AND THERE WAS ICE ON THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE SWERVED FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THE TIRE HAD BEEN ROTATED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 39,018. *SC *JB
2001 YUKON XL, TURNED INTO A PARKING SPACE GOING ABOUT 4 MPH PUT ON THE BRAKES, ABS STARTED PUMPING AND THE CAR DID NOT STOP. HIT THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME.
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH CONSUMER HEARD A SOUND, AND VEHICLE LOST POWER AND STALLED. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND DETERMINED THAT THE TIMING BELT BROKE. *AK
ENGINE STOPS OR WILL NOT START. WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE WILL STOP AND ALL POWER IS LOST. AT TIMES THE ENGINE WILL NOT START, AFTER WAITING SEVERAL MOMENTS THE ENGINE WILL RESTART. DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM IN MORE THAN A YEAR AND MORE THAN SIX VISITS. *AK
CONSUMER STARTED VEHICLE EARLY IN THE MORNING AND HEARD A LOUD NOISE. AFTER FIFTEEN MINUTES WHEN VEHICLE WARMED UP THERE WAS NO NOISE. DEALER STATED THAT THIS TYPE OF NOISE WAS COMMON TO ANY VEHICLE BEING STARTED EARLY IN THE MORNING.*AK 2001 GMC YUKON XL DENALI EXPERIENCES KNOCKING DURING COLD START UP OF THE ENGINE. THE KNOCKING LAST FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES UNTIL ENGINE IS WARMED UP.*MR
WHILE DRIVING AT 5 MPH, CONSUMER INTENDED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN AND VEHICLE DIDN'T RESPOND AND WENT STRAIGHT FORWARD. DEALER REPLACED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE GEAR BOX TWICE/STEERING PUMP, AND THE SUSPENSION. BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. *AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED TO STOP 2001, GMC, YUKON WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN DRIVE ,AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKES WERE ENGAGED. THIS WAS ONE OF THE TEST REQUIRED FOR A INSPECTION STICKER IN GRAPEVINE TEXAS. *AK
REAR LIFT GATE GLASS AT HINGE HAS COME APART.*MR THE BONDING MATERIAL HOLDING THE HINGE TO THE WINDOW FAILED. *TS *JB
IDENTICAL COMPLAINT AS FILED ON #10032993. REAR TAILGATE GLASS HAS NEVER BEEN OPENED ON OUR VEHICLE ALWAYS OPENED ENTIRE TAIL GATE WHEN OPENING. THE PASSENGER SIDE HINGE MOUNTED TO FIBER MATERIAL ADHERED TO GLASS HAS COMPLETLY BROKEN FREE OF GLASS MOUNTING BRACKET.
PARKING BRAKE FAILURE EVERY YEAR FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. YUKON XL WILL NOT PASS STATE INSPECTION DUE TO PARKING BRAKE FAILURE. HAVE REPLACED REAR ROTORS DUE TO PARKING BRAKE SHOE MALFUNCTION. REAR BRAKE SHOE DOES NOT DISENGAGE AND WEARS PREMATURELY CAUSING PARKING BRAKE FAILURE AND ROTOR DAMAGE EVERY YEAR THAT STATE INSPECTION IS REQUIRED. *JB
PROBLEMS WITH 2001 DENALI XL/ SUV DIED AND THERE WAS LOSS OF BRAKES, STEERING AND ACCELERATION.*MR VEHICLE WAS AT IDLE WHEN IT DIED THE FIRST TIME. DEALERSHIP COULDN'T DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM BUT KNEW IT HAD TO DO WITH THE FUSE. CONSUMER WAS GIVEN FUSES BUT THEY ALL FAILED WITHIN 50 MILES. VEHICLE RETURNED TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THIRD FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE TRAVELING 65 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WHEN THE BRAKES, STEERING AND ACCELERATION FAILED. THE CONSUMERS ESCAPED UNHARMED. THEY REQUESTED AN INVESTIGATION AND RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. *PH
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE'S HOOD FLEW OPEN DUE TO THE HOOD LATCH BREAKING.*MR WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE'S HOOD LATCH FAILED AND AS A RESULT THE HOOD FLEW OPEN AND DAMAGED THE VEHICLE. THE PREVIOUS DAY THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE'S OIL CHANGED (OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT). *NM
PARKING BRAKE WILL APPLY ITSELF AND WILL STAY ENGAGED UNTIL IT DECIDES TO RELEASE, OR UNTIL THE PADS AND METAL SHOE IS WORN OUT OR CATCHES FIRE FROM THE EXTREME HEAT , IF YOU APPLY IT , IT MAY STAY ENGAGED AND YOU WON'T KNOW IT , UNTIL IT IS TO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, ,THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE THAT HAS BEEN REPORTED TO DEALERSHIPS , AND TO GM BUT THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING. *TR
BRAKES WOULD LOCK UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON. NO WARNINGS WERE GIVEN THIS CONTINUED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE DEALERSHIP CONTINUALLY SAYING THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEM UNTIL I DROPPED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE BRAKES (ALL FOUR) COMPLETELY LOCKED UP.*AK
SIGNIFICANT CRACKS AND BELT SEPARATION ON ROAD WITH ONE TIRE. SIGNIFICANT CRACKS PRESENT ON ALL TIRES ON VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS A YUKON SL 2500, 2000, EQIUPPED WITH FIRESTONE STEELTEX RADIAL R4S. *AK SIZE OF TIRE IS LT 245/75R16
HEADLIGHTS FAIL TO COME ON SOMETIMES IF STEERING WHEEL IS TILTED, IT WILL HAVE TO MOVE TILT ON STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES THEY WILL COME ON IN A CERTAIN POSITION ON THE WHEEL AND THE INTERIOR DIAL WILL NOT MAKE THEM COME ON, IF THEY ARE ON AND HIGH BEAMED OR USED IT WILL MAKE THE LIGHTS GO OUT ALL TOGETHER, WILL NOT COME ON UNTIL TILT IS READJUSTED. *LA
THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEWOUT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. FIRESTONE WILDERNESS LE TIRE. *AK. THE GM DEALER REPLACED THE TIRE WITH ANOTHER FIRESTONE TIRE. *JB
AFTER DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 30 MPH ON A GRAVEL ROAD FIRESTONE WILDERNESS P265/70R16 REAR TIRE BLEW OUT ON MY '01 GMC YUKON WITH COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION, AND THE RADIALS BREAKING. MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE TIRE WITH OUR SPARE THAT IS THE SAME MAKE/MODEL. APPROX. 10 MINUTES LATER ON A PAVED ROAD AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH, THE SPARE BLEW OUT WITH COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION. OUR VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THERE WAS NO PROBLEM FOUND WITH THE VEHICLE. THEY BELIEVE THE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE. WE HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES ON OUR VEHICLE AND KEPT THE FIRESTONE FOR EVALUTION AND ANALYSIS PURPOSES.*AK
I CURRENTLY OWN (PURCHASED NEW) A 2001 YUKON XL WHICH IS EQUIPPED WITH A REAR TAILGATE HAVING A HINGED REAR WINDOW WHICH ALLOWS ACCESS TO THE REAR COMPARTMENT WITHOUT OPENING THE TAILGATE. *AK THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS IS SECURED TO THE TAILGATE VIA TWO HINGES WHICH ARE SECURED TO THE GLASS BY AN ADHESIVE. THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HINGE HAS DELAMINATED FROM THE TAILGATE GLASS RESULTING IN THE WINDOW BEING SECURED TO THE VEHICLE WITH ONE HINGE. THERE IS NO MECHANICAL SECUREMENT TO THE GLASS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY SEVERAL DIFFERENT SERVICE PROFESSIONALS (INSIDE AND OUT OF GM) THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. HOWEVER, NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALLS EXIST TO REPAIR THE HINGE FAILURE. I HAVE BEEN ATTEMPTING TO WORK THIS ISSUE WITH THE GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM AND HAVE A CASE OPENED (1-122096729). I BELIEVE THAT OPENING THE DOOR WINDOWS ON THE VEHICLE WOULD CAUSE ADDITIONAL STRESS ON THE REMAINING HINGE. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE WINDOW COULD BREAK FREE FROM THE VEHICLE IF THE SECOND HINGE FAILS RESULTING IN A SAFETY HAZARD FOR ANY VEHICLE DIRECTLY BEHIND OR ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE. THE ANTILOCK BRAKE MODULE FAILED AND I LOST ALL ANTILOCK CAPABILITY. WHEN IT FAILS, IT MAKES THE SOUND OF A SMALL FAN MOTOR. IT QUIT WHEN I PARKED AND TURNED THE YUKON OFF. THIS MODULE COST ME $800 TO REPLACE. INCREDIBLE FOR A VEHICLE WITH 45,000 MILES.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 GMC YUKON XL 2500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PIN BOX FOR THE TRAILER HITCH IS SUPPOSED TO BE HORIZONTAL, BUT IT IS SLIGHTLY BENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE PIN BOX WAS BENDING/DEFORMING. THE HITCH WAS REPLACED AT 14,800 MILES. THE PIN BOX IS CURRENTLY BENDING AGAIN. THE TRAILER HITCH IS USED SIX TIMES PER YEAR TO TOW A TRAILER. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 27,353 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,600.
HEARD SLIGHT GRINDING NOISES WHILE MAKING TURNS. SHORT TIME LATER I DISCOVERD THE PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE WHILE IN NEUTRAL WITH THE MOTOR RUNNING. VEHICLE BEGIN ROLLING DOWN MY DRIVEWAY. MADE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALER AND DISCOVERED PARKING BRAKE DRUMS AND SHOES WERE WORN OUT. REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT CONSIDERING THE WORK INVOLVED, I AM SURE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RATHER EXPENSIVE. I HOPE THE DEALER USED THE NEW STYLE SPRING CLIP.
SOME GM PRODUCTS, INCLUDING MY 2001 GMC YUKON, DO NOT COME WITH A DOOR AJAR WARNING SYSTEM. GM HAS WRITTEN, INDICATING THAT THERE IS A "STANDARD" DOOR AJAR WARNING SYSTEM WHEN THERE IS NOT. GM HAS MADE AN APPARENT MISREPRESENTATION, FOOLING CUSTOMERS INTO BELIEVING THAT THE COURTESY DOME LIGHT SYSTEM (WHICH TURNS ON WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN) IS A DOOR AJAR WARNING SYSTEM. I HAVE SEEN OTHER INTERNET COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SYSTEM IN GM PRODUCTS. IT POSES A GRAVE DANGER TO OCCUPANTS. IS THERE LEGISLATION REGARDING A DOOR AJAR WARNING SYSTEM AND CAN ANYTHING BE DONE ABOUT GM? BELOW ARE EXAMPLES OF WHAT CAN OR HAS OCCURRED. A DRIVER ENTERS A YUKON ALONG WITH THREE PASSENGERS. THE DOME LIGHT WILL TURN ON NO MATTER WHAT AT THIS JUNCTURE BECAUSE THE DOORS WERE OPENED, SO THERE WOULD NOT BE CAUSE FOR ALARM AS DOORS CLOSE. ONE OF THE THREE PASSENGERS DOES NOT CLOSE HIS/HER DOOR COMPLETELY. THE DRIVER PUTS THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND STARTS THE VEHICLE. THE LIGHT TURNS OFF. NO DOOR AJAR WARNING. ANOTHER EXAMPLE: I OPENED A REAR PASSENGER DOOR OF MY YUKON AND THE DRIVER'S DOOR. THE DOME LIGHT TURNED ON, BECAUSE IT IS APPARENTLY A STANDARD FEATURE FOR THE LIGHT TO COME ON WHEN A DOOR IS OPENED FOR PEOPLE TO GET IN AND OUT. I THEN PUSHED THE PASSENGER DOOR TOWARDS IT'S HOUSING JUST ENOUGH FOR METAL TO TOUCH METAL (OR THE APPARENT SENSOR), BUT STILL "OPEN" IN THAT, WITHOUT ENGAGING THE DOOR OPENING MECHANISM, I COULD STILL PULL IT OPEN. I THEN ENTERED THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND CLOSED IT (ONLY THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR). I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND THE DOME LIGHT TURNED OF. ANYONE COULD HAVE PUSHED OR PULLED THE PASSENGER DOOR OPEN. EXAMPLE: I BEGAN BACKING OUT OF MY HOUSE ONE DAY WHEN ONE OF THE DOORS BEGAN TO OPEN. NO DOOR AJAR LIGHT WAS ON. HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE OPEN ROAD, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED. THE DOORS ON THIS SUV ARE ALREADY HEAVY, AND IT IS VERY EASY TO HAVE A DOOR AJAR.*AK
I HAVE A 2001 GMC YUKON XL AND TOOK IT IN FOR SOME ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT ABOUT 30K MILES. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT OPERATING PROPERLY (WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE). SINCE IT IS A WEAR ITEM IT WASN'T COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL GM VEHICLES AS WELL AS MANY OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE PARKING BRAKE WEARING OUT, LET ALONE PRIOR TO 30K MILES. THE ORIGINAL DEALER GAVE US AN ESTIMATE OF $800 TO FIX THE PARKING BRAKE. AT THIS TIME WE ARE WAITING A RESPONSE FROM GM'S CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT.*AK
2001 GMC YUKON XL DEVELOPED PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL TANK.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR THE VEHICLE FUEL SENDER FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL NOTIFICATION. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE SERVICE KIT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONSUMER DOESN'T FELL SAFE. *NM
ON MAY 17, 2003 MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS KILLED IN OUR DRIVEWAY BY OUR 2001 GMC YUKON. WE WERE CLEANING THE REAR OF OUR VEHICLE WHEN THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF GEAR AND THE PARKING BRAKE FAILED TO HOLD THE VEHICLE. MY 2 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME, BUT THERE IS NO WAY THAT HE COULD HAVE APPLIED THE BRAKE TO RELEASE THE VEHICLE OUT OF GEAR. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NO FAMILY SHOULD HAVE TO ENDURE AND I AM ASKING FOR HELP IN PROVING THESE FAILURES. I FEEL THERE ARE TWO FAILURES WITH THIS VEHICLE. THE PARKING BRAKE ON ALL MODELS OF THESE VEHICLES FAILS TO HOLD THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE SEARCHED YOUR WEBSITES TO FIND 50 PLUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE PARKING BRAKE ON GMC/CHEVROLET VEHICLES OF THIS KIND FAILING TO HOLD THE VEHICLE AND VEHICLES NOT PASSING SAFETY INSPECTIONS BECAUSE THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT SUPPORT THE VEHICLE. THE SECOND ISSUE IS I BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS EITHER A MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION OR THAT THERE ARE MECHANICAL OVERRIDES IN THIS VEHICLE AS IN THE 2003 GMC ENVOY RECALL CAMPAIGN #03V075 THAT CAN ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK WITH THE IGNITION IN THE OFF POSITION. I ALSO, I FOUND ODI ID NUMBER: 897722 WHICH SHOWS THAT THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. I BELIEVE A FULL INVESTIGATION SHOULD BE DONE ON THE PARKING BRAKE AND THE TRANSMISSION OF THE GMC AND CHEVROLET VEHICLES. THIS IS THE LINK TO THE ACCIDENT. I HAVE A 2001 GMC YUKON XL WITH FIRESTONE 245-75-16 TIRES. I WAS ON A TRIP, WHEN THE TIRES STARTED TO SEPARATE, CAUSING THE YUKON TO VIBRATE. *JB
ON APRIL 9, 2003 THE CONSUMER WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED UP TO 28 MPH WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO SEVERAL OBJECTS BEFORE IT STOPPED. GMC SENT AN ENGINEER TO ASSESS THE PROBLEM WHICH COULD NOT BE DETERMINED AT THAT TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. *JB
LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING. *NLM
I PURCHASED A 2001 GMC YUKON XL 06/15/01. IN THE EARLY 40K MILE PERIOD ON MY 2001 I STARTED HEARING A ROAD NOISE THAT I THOUGHT WAS MY NEW TIRES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN TO MARLOW-WERNER PONTIAC GMC IN PUNTA GORDA, FLORIDA ON 3/06/03 AT 44,792 MILES AND TOLD THEM I HAD SOME SORT OF TIRE NOISE IF THEY COULD CHECK OUT. THEY REPORTED NO PROBLEM. THE NOISE KEPT GETTING LOUDER DURING A 6 HOUR TRIP. UPON RETURNING TO TOWN WE TOOK IT INTO TUFFY AUTO SERVICE CENTER IN PORT CHARLOTTE. WE TOLD THEM WE THOUGHT IT WAS A BEARING NOISE AND TO PLEASE CHECK IT OUT. THEY HAD THE KNOWLEDGE TO PUT IT ON THE LIFT AND PUT IN GEAR AND REALIZED IT WAS THE REAR END. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO MARLOW-WERNER AND TOLD THEM WHAT TUFFY HAD SAID. THEY CHECKED OUT THE VEHICLE AND TOLD US THE COMPLETE REAR END NEEDED TO BE REDONE. THE BEARINGS WERE SCORED AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL BEARINGS, PINION, AND SIDE BEARINGS. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT THE DEALER EVERY 3K MILES AS PER MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS. I HAVE NEVER KNOWN A NEW VEHICLE WITH 40K MILES HAVE THE REAR END GO OUT THIS WAY. I FEEL THERE IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED IT AT NO COST TO ME. THEY CHARGED ME 50% OF THE REPAIR COST UNDER THE GOODWILL WARRANTY. I FEEL THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE CHECKED INTO FURTHER AND SHOULD HAVE NOT HAPPENED WITH THE LOW MILEAGE AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I CALLED GMC ON 4/2/03 AND SPOKE WITH DARREN CHRISTENSEN WHICH IS A CONSUMER RELATIONS MANAGER. THE FILE NUMBER IS #1-867-42264. HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW HOW I DROVE MY VEHICLE AND IF I HADN'T DROVE ON IT FOR SO LONG THE REPAIR WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN SO EXTENSIVE. I WAS FURIOUS. I TOLD HIM THAT I USE MY VEHICLE TO TAKE MY TWO KIDS TO SCHOOL AND ON VACATIONS AND WAS NOT A HARD DRIVER. HE TOLD ME HE COULDN'T HELP ME ANY FURTHER AND THAT THEY WOULD ONLY COVER THE 50%. I JUST WANT THIS NOTED IN CASE THERE ARE OTHER CONSUMERS THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE REAR PINION/BEARINGS. *JB
MY YUKON XL K2500 WITH THE 8.2 LITER ENGINE - 495 CI - BURNS OIL AND AT FIRST THE DEALER SAID IT SHOULD NOT BURN MORE THAN 1 QUART EVERY 1800 MILES WHICH MINE DOES AND THE DEALER/GM TRIED A NEW PVC VALVE THEN A NEW INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AND NOTHING HELPED. NOW GM SAYS A QUART EVERY 100 GALLONS OF GAS IS THE CUT OFF! *NLM

THERE WAS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE PASSENGER FRONT SEAT BELT, WHEN THE SEAT BELT WAS FASTENED, IT LOCKED PERMANENTLY, AND DID NOT ALLOW THE PASSENGER TO MOVE FOWARD. *JB *JB

2001 YUKON XL BURNS, DRIPS APPROXIMATELY 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 200 MILES. *JB
FOR AT LEAST THREE MONTHS THE DIM HEADLIGHTS WOULD GO OUT AND ONLY THE HIGH BEAM LIGHTS WOULD WORK WE TOOK THE TRUCK IN THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. THEN THE TRUCK STALLED AT 23500 MILES AND IT WAS TAKEN IN AND A NEW BATTERY WAS PUT IN UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS THE THIRD GMC VEHICLE WE HAVE HAD WITH BATTERY PROBLEMS. WE ALSO HAVE A 1999 SUBURBAN THAT HAS HAD THREE BATTERIES INSTALLED. WE DO NOT KNOW AT THIS POINT IF THE NEW BATTERY WILL CORRECT THE HEADLIGHT PROBLEM BUT WILL CERTAINLY RETURN TO DEALER IF NOT. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME ELECTRICAL/SHORTAGE PROBLEMS? DT
WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAR SENOR LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, THEY INFORMED HIM THAT AIR BAG ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WAS FAULITY. HAD PART REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. MR
DT: THE CONTACT STATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED TWICE. FIRST, IT HAPPENED IN OCTOBER 2002. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ,AND THEY REPLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BANDS ,AND TURNED THE DRUMS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNAWARE WHY IT WENT OUT THAT EARLY. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN IN SEPTEMBER 2005, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SYSTEM AGAIN. THE SERPENTINE BELT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AND THEN THE ALTERNATOR WAS REPLACED BECAUSE WHEN THE TRUCK IS STARTED IT MAKES A SQUEALING NOISE AND AFTER ALL THAT, IT STILL MAKES THE NOISE. *JB

AFTER STARTING VEHICLE CONSUMER NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM DRIVER SIDE OF VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS AND CONSUMER DROVE VEHICLE LESS THAN A BLOCK AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE WAS SHOWING HOT. CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND BLACK SMOKE WAS COMING FROM HOOD. CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS RED HOT. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THAT FUEL WAS DUMPING IN CATALYTIC CONVERTER. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
MULTIPLE FAILURES WITH 2001 YUKON. DASHBOARD LIGHT, AIR BAG AND COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED. PROBLEMS STARTING AFTER ACCELERATING. *BF THE VEHICLES COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING DASHBOARD LIGHTS, AIRBAG, L.E.D, AND BRAKE LIGHTS TO TURN ON. THE SPEEDOMETER FROZE.
