ORIGINAL TIRES ON GMC, YUKON, 26575R16 LE; WHILE TRAVELING AT 30MPH, FRONT RIGHT TIRE BLEWOUT WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WAS NOTHING SHARP ON THE ROAD, TIRE EXPERIENCED SIDEWALL SEPARATION. *AK THE FIRESTONE DEALER IS CLAIMING THAT THE TIRE HAD A PUNCTURE, HOWEVER 2 MILES PRIOR TO INCIDENT, THE TIRES WERE CHECKED AND THERE WERE NO PUNCTURES OR LEAKS. *SLC
TRUCK HAS FAILED TO START TWICE. WHEN DRIVING, AT RANDOM TIMES ALL GAUGES EXCEPT SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WILL SHUT OFF, MESSAGE CENTER WILL ACT LIKE IGNITION IS OFF. TRUCK HAS NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN THIS OCCURS YET, BUT THE COMPUTER SEEMS TO THINK THE ENGINE IS OFF.
DT: 2001 GMC YUKON. THERE WAS A RECALL #05042, FOR THE PARKING BRAKE, HOWEVER THE RECALL DID PERTAIN TO THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE. THE PARKING BRAKE DID NOT WORK. THIS STARTED APPROXIMATELY MAY 25, 2002. THE BRAKES DRAGGED AND EVENTUALLY WORE OUT BECAUSE OF A SPRING THAT WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY WHEN THE PARKING BRAKE WAS RELEASED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN TO BE SERVICED FOR THIS PROBLEM, BUT WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. *JB UPDATED 1/4/2006 - *NM
WHILE TURNING LEFT AT 15 MPH\ ANOTHER VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 45 HIT CONSUMER'S VEHICLE ON FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE . UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, THEIR WAS A NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD. CONSUMER TOOK VEHCILE TO THE DEALERSHIP AN D THEY INDICATED THAT THE SERPENTINE BELT HAD CAME APART. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT,AT TIME OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE THE DEALERSHIP NOTICED THE SERPENTINE BELT HAD CAME APART, WHEN INSPECTNG THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD BELT REPLACED 5 TIMES, PROBLEM STILL ACCURS. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. MR
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY IN FEB OF 2002 AND IT WAS SLEETING, I WAS USING MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO CLEAR THE WINDOW. THE RIGHT FORNT WIPER ARM CAME LOOSE AS THE WIPER STARTED THE UP STROKE AND THEN JUST STAYED IN THE "UP" POSITION, IT GOT TANGLED UP INTO THE LEFT WIPER ARM AND BENT THE ARM TO WHERE THE WIPERS COULD NOT BE USED. I TOOK THE YUKON INTO A GMC DEALER WHO WAS CLOSE BY, THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON IT SINCE I HAD NOT PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THERE, SO I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE APPROX. 50 MILES TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM TO GET IT REPAIRED. THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT THE WIPERS ON THIS VEHICLE SOMETIMES DO THAT, IN FACT HE SAID HE HAD ALREADY REPAIRED TWO THAT SAME DAY AND I SHOULD CARRY A 13MM WRENCH WITH ME AND CHECK THE TIGHTNESS ON THE ARMS FROM TIME TO TIME. THE NEXT INCIDENT HAPPENED IN APRIL AND IT WAS MISTING RAIN, I HAD JUST TURNED ON MY WIPERS WHEN I SAW THE LEFT FRONT WIPER ARM COME LOSE AND STOPPED WIPING. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE WIPERS OFF BEFORE IT GOT TANGLED UP WITH THE RIGHT WIPER ARM. I USED THE 13MM WRENCH, THAT THE DEALER RECOMMENED I BUY, AND TIGHTENED IT. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A SERIOUS SAFTEY FEATURE IF THIS HAPPENED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE IT WAS RAINING OR SLEETING HARD. THE INCIDENT WITH THE REAR DEFROST HAPPENED IN APRIL OF 2002. I WAS DRIVING THROUGH TOWN AND THE REAR WINDOWS (IT HAS CARGO DOORS, 1 WINDOW IN EACH DOOR) START TO FOG UP, I TURNED ON THE REAR DEFROST AND THE RIGHT REAR WINDO IN THE CARGO DOOR CLEARED UP WITHIN SECONDS, THE WINDOW ON THE LEFT REAR CARGO DOOR NEVER DID. THE DEALER IS SCHEDULED TO LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM ON 05/06/2002. THIS SERIOUSLY IMPAIRS YOUR VISION WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND ONE OF THE REAR WINDOWS WON'T DEFOG/\. *AK
FIRESTONE, WILDERNESS, P265/70R16, DOT 8X72WLI, ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 2001, GMC, YUKON WITH 19000 MILES, DURING TIRE ROTATION DEALER NOTICED BOTH REAR TIRES AND FRONT RIGHT TIRE SHOWED SIGNS OF TREAD SEPARATION.*AK CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THAT PROBLEM WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.*SLC
THE VIN NUMBER IS [XXX] ON FEBRUARY 12, 2002, AT 9AM I HAD AN APPOINTMENT AT CLYDE REVORD TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND MY EMERGENCY BRAKE ADJUSTED ON MY 2001 GMC YUKON XL WITH 22400 MILES. AFTER CHANGING THE OIL THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COULD NOT BE ADJUSTED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN WORN DOWN DUE TO THE FACT IT HAD BEEN LEFT ON. I PROCEEDED TO TELL THEM THAT IT HAD NOT BEEN LEFT ON. AT THAT POINT THE MECHANIC CHIMED IN AND STATED THAT HE COULD PROVE THAT IT WAS LEFT ON. HE TOOK ME OUT TO THE SHOP AND POINTED OUT THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF BRAKE DUST INDICATING IT HAD BEEN LEFT ON. HE THEN STATED HOWEVER THAT HE PERSONALLY HAS SEEN A LOT OF THESE IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. OF COURSE WHAT THAT MEANT WAS THAT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY CALLED THE DEALER AND THROUGH THEIR CORRESPONDENCE THEY DETERMINED THAT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE NO SERVICE BULLETINS AND NO ACTIVE RECALLS AND BY WHAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT CLYDE REVORD TOLD THEM ! THAT THEY COULD NOT COVER IT UNDER WARRANTY. I DID SOME INVESTIGATING OF MY OWN BY CALLING SPEEDWAY CHEVROLET, THE SERVICE WRITER THERE TOLD ME THAT INDEED THERE IS AN ISSUE OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKES BEING OVER TIGHTENED FROM THE FACTORY AND THAT HE PERSONALLY HAS SEEN 40 OR SO VEHICLES IN FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT HIS OWN VEHICLE IS BEING SERVICED FOR THE SAME THING. I THEN CALLED CLYDE REVORD BACK AND SPOKE WITH FRANK THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE STATED THAT HE HAS NO EVIDENCE OF THERE BEING A PROBLEM WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND HE DIDN'T KNOW WHERE SPEEDWAY CHEVROLET WAS GETTING THEIR INFO AND THAT "THAT'S A BUNCH OF BOLOGNA" HE ALSO STATED THAT CONTRARY TO THERE POLICY OF PROVIDING EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO HELP ME OR COVER THIS ISSUE UNDER WARRANTY. I THEN CONTACTED SMOKEY POINT PONTIAC GMC AND THEY TOO HAVE SEEN ISSUES WITH THESE EMERGENCY BRAKES AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY ON FEBRUARY 25, 2002. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE FULE PUMP HAS FAILED. IT'S A BRAN NEW VEHICLE!!!. *AK
BRAKING TO AVOID ACCIDENT AND RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT, RENDERING VEHICLE UNSTEERABLE, OUT OF CONTROL. SPUN IN CIRCLES AND WENT INTO DITCH IN MEDIAN OF 4 LANE HIGHWAY.*AK (DOT NUMBER: 8X72 TIRESIZE: P265/70R16)
WHILE DRIVING 2 MPH VEHICLE WAS STRUCK ON DRIVER'S DOOR, CAUSING EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO FRONT END AS WELL. NEITHER AIRBAG DEPLOYED. CONSUMER SUFFERED HEAD INJURIES. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE WAS $ 10000.00. PRIOR TO THIS, CONSUMER OWNED ANOTHER VEHICLE JUST LIKE THIS ONE. IT ALSO HAD A FRONT CRASH AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK

WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD ENGINE MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE AND IS SLUGGISH. DURATION OF THE PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSED CURRENTLY AFFECTING VEHICLE WHEN IT WARMS UP. DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE ENGINE HAS PISTON PROBLEMS.*YH
WHILE TRANSMISSION WAS PLACED IN PARK AND VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, CONSUMER'S CHILD MOVED TRANSMISSION FROM PARK INTO DRIVE WITHOUT STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL OR BRAKE PEDAL. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT WHEN THE IGNITION KEY IS "C" POSITION, THE VEHICLE CAN BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK. THERE IS NO DOOR AJAR SYSTEM FOR PASSENGER DOORS. *YH
MY 2001 YUKON XL FAILED INSPECTION ON 10/06/2003 DUE TO AN INOPERATIVE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE. THE GMC DEALER WHICH PERFORMED INSPECTIONS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM (THE PARKING BRAKE HANGING OPEN AND WEARING) TO BOTH THE DEALER AND TO GM, BUT NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. MY HUSBAND ADJUSTED THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE THE SAME EVENING AND THE SUV PASSED AT RE-INSPECTION THE FOLLOWING MORNING, HOWEVER, THE EMERGENCY/PARKING BRAKE IS AGAIN HUNG OPEN AND WEARING (LESS THAN 24 HOURS AFTER BEING FIXED AND PASSING INSPECTION). *LA
EMERGENCY BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD WHEN VEHICLE IS ON AN INCLINE. CONTACTED DEALER, AND THE DEALER WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *AK
MY 2001 YUKON DENALI HAS A KNOCKING ENGINE NOISE EVERYTIME YOU START THE THE ENGINE.*AK
ON A RECENT TRIP TO CANADA IT WAS FOUND THAT FOUR(4) OF THE WELDS HOLDING THE SQUARE RECEIVER TO THE HORIZONTAL MEMBER WERE CRACKED, ONE WELD WAS OK. NOT BEING SATISIFED WITH THE WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION PERFORMANCE OF THE HITCH I HAD CONTACTED CAN-AM RV CENTER (TOWING SPECALISTS) IN ONTARIO CANADA TO CHECK THE HITCH WHILE I WAS UP THERE. WHEN RAISING THE VEHICLE ON THE LIFT THEY FOUND FOUR CRACKED WELDS WHICH THEY REPAIRED AND ATTACHED SOME ADDITIONAL MEMBERS TO THE FRAME IN ORDER TO TRANSFER MORE WEIGHT TO THE FRONT AXLE. PRIOR TO THIS MODIFICATION I WAS REDUCING THE FRONT AXLE LOAD BY 600#, WHICH MADE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE LIGHT. I BELIEVE THIS RECEIVER IS OVER RATED AND VERY DANGEROUS. THIS FACTORY RECEIVER IS RATED AT 12000# TRAILER WEIGHT AND 1500# TONGUE WEIGHT WHICH I BELIEVE TO BE OVER RATED. IT ALSO DOES NOT TRANSFER THE WEIGHT EVENLY OVER THE VEHICLE AS IT SHOULD. I AM TOWING A 9000# TRAILER WITH A HITCH WEIGHT OF 1200#. IT APPEARS THAT THE GM PRIORTY IS SELLING YUKON'S AND INCLUDING A RECEIVER FROM THE LOWEST BIDDER. AS OF THIS DATE I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY GM THAT THEY NOT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE WELD FIX($70) BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DONE BY A GM DEALER. IF SOMEONE DROPS A $40,000 TRAILER ON THE INTERSTATE IT WILL COST GM MORE THAN $70. GOOD LUCK AND THANKS, LLOYD BADMAN. *AK
OUR 2001 GMC YUKON XL HAS NO "DOOR AJAR" WARNING LIGHT OR INDICATOR OF ANY KIND OTHER THAN THE DOME LIGHT COMING ON IF A DOOR IS OPEN. IS THIS WITHIN YOUR REGULATION FOR SAFE VEHICLES. *JB

CONTACTED GM WHO COULD CARE LESS; THEY DID NOT RECORD THE INCIDENT EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO REPORT IT; THEY TOLD ME TO CONTACT FIRESTONE AND THAT IT WAS NOT GM'S PROBLEM; CALLED FIRESTONE AND ALL THEY CARED ABOUT WAS WHETHER IT WAS AN AT WILDNERNESS TIRE; FIRESTONE TOLD ME TO GO TO A LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. WHILE BRAKING ON A ROUGH SURFACE AT CONSTRUCTION ZONE ABS ACTIVATED, CAUSING NEARLY COMPLETE LOSS OF STOPPING ABILITY.*AK
THE TRANSMISSION PUMP FAILED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ALMOST STALL IN TRAFFIC WHILE ATTEMPTING A LEFT-HAND TURN, THE CONSUMER IS REQUESTING THAT THE DEALER REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A NEW ONE INSTEAD OF RETRO-FITTING THE EXISTING. NLM
MULTIPLE FAILURES; A/C ODORS, DOOR LOCK, SUSPENSION ALIGNMENT AND BRAKES. *BF THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING: WEATHER STRIP WAS LOOSE, THE A/C BLEW WARM, THE BELTS SQUEAKED, THERE WAS A MILDEW ODORS, THE WINDOW REGULATOR, THE FRONT SEAT BELT SQUEAKED, THE DOOR PANEL, THE STEERING WHEEL RATTLED, DRIVE SHAFT, ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE WIPERS WERE NOISY, THE HINGE PIN ON THE RADIO WAS LOOSE, ENGINE NOISES, A/C DRAIN WOULD NOT DRAIN AT TIMES UNTIL THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS CLOSED/WATER LEAD AND CAUSED BY THE LEFT FRONT FLOORBOARD. INTERMITTENT STALLING WHEN MAKING A RIGHT TURN. DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.*AK CONSUMER STATES DEALER LOANED A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER, HOWEVER PROBLEM HAS NOT OCCURRED SINCE AUGUST 6TH, AFTER VEHICLE STALLS IT WILL START BACK UP WITHOUT A PROBLEM. ABS EXPERIENCED ERRATIC OPERATION. FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT NEEDED REPLACED. *SLC
THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT IS BENT AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BACK PUSHES THE DRIVER'S LOWER BACK FORWARD AND APLIES PRESSURE TO HIS LOWER BACK AND KIDNEYS, THE SEAT WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE BUT IT STILL APPLIES PRESSURE TO THE LOWER BACK AND WAS IMPROPERLY ALIGNED, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. HEADLIGHTS JUST GO OFF ON LOW BEAM WILL WORK ONLY ON HIGH BEAM. SOMETIMES THEY WORK AND THEN AT OTHER TIMES THEY GO OFF. TOOK TO LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN BRANDON MISSISSIPPI, COULD NOT REPRODUCE, HOWEVER GOT STRANDED WOULDN'T CRANK AT 23900 MILES, BOOSTED, TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, GAUGES WERE CLICKING AND JUMPING BATTERY WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BUT I AM AFRAID THIS IS NOT THE END OF THIS PROBLEM. WE HAVE HAD THREE GMC'S WITH PREVIOUS BATTERY PROBLEMS WHILE UNDER WARRANTY. DT
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING 75 MPH WHEN STEERING SUDDENLY FAILED. DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT EBO SENSOR HAD FAILED, WHICH IN TURN, CAUSED STEERING TO GO OUT WITHOUT ANY PRIOR WARNING. AND THAT GMC WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.*AK
PASSENGER'S SEAT BELT WOULD TIGHTEN DOWN OR LOCK UP UPON MOVEMENT IN SEAT WHILE DRIVING. DEALER NOTIFIED, AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT WAS A NORMAL OPERATION. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION ON THIS MATTER.*AK
ON 8/7/2001 I TOOK MY GMC YUKON XL TO THE DEALER AND REQUESTED THEY REPLACE MY FACTORY INSTALLED HEAVY DUTY TRAILER RECEIVER HITCH DUE TO IT BENDING UP APPROXIMATELY 3" DUE TO THE TORSION BARS PULLING UP ON THE HITCH TO PUT MORE WEIGHT ON THE FRONT WHEELS. I AM TOWING A 26' HI-LO TRAVEL TRAILER THAT IS CONSIDERABLY LESS WEIGHT THAN THE GMC HITCH IS DESIGNED FOR. I HAVE PULLED THIS SAME TRAILER WITH THE SAME TRAILER HITCH BALL, TORSION BARS, SWAY BARS PULLING IT WITH MY 1997 FORD EXPLORER. THE TRAILER HITCH RECEIVER NEVER BENT LIKE THE GMC RECEIVER HITCH DID ON MY FIRST TRIP TO CANADA. I SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, MR. HOLZHAVER, AND SHOWED HIM BOTH THE GMC BENT RECEIVER HITCH AND THE FORD EXPLORER UNDAMAGED RECEIVER HITCH. HE REFUSED TO REPLACE THE TRAILER HITCH AND SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. THE DESIGN OF THIS TRAILER RECEIVER HITCH IS UNSAFE AND SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO BEND UP 3 INCHES WHEN THE TORSION BARS ARE INSTALLED. IF THE HITCH BREAKS LOOSE THIS 26' TRAILER COULD COME LOOSE CAUSING A DEVASTATING ACCIDENT ON OUR HIGHWAYS. YOUR CO-OPERATION IN GETTING THIS HITCH REPLACED AND REDESIGNED WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.*AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE FOG LIGHTS VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY WHEN DRIVING, GREATLY REDUCING THEIR EFFECTIVENESS. DEALER ADVISED PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE FOG LIGHT MOUNT. *AK OTHER DRIVERS WERE DISTRACTED BY THE SHAKING LIGHT IN THEIR REAR VIEW MIRROR. *SCC *JB

WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE, THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS EXPLODED ON A 40 DEGREE DAY. I FILED A POLICE REPORT. THE POLICE FOUND THAT THE GLASS EXPLODED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. THE REAR SHOCKS WERE PUSHED INTO THE LIFTED (UP) POSITION, BUT THE WINDOW WAS STILL LATCHED SHUT. GLASS WAS BLOWN EVERYWHERE IN THE GARAGE AND WAS ALL OVER THE REAR SEAT WHERE MY CHILDREN SIT. THE DEALER WASN'T INTERESTED IN SEEING THE TRUCK, THEY JUST TOLD ME TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY. I FILED A COMPLAINT (#03702924) WITH GM CUSTOMER SERVICE.
VEHICLE STALLS AT ANY SPEED. HAS STALLED 15-20 TIMES. TO DEALER 3 TIMES, CANNOT REMEDY PROBLEM. *AK
TILT STEERING WHEEL LOCKS IN UP POSITION. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE.*AK CONSUMER HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH FIRESTONE TIRES, P235/70R16, TIRES LOSE AIR, HAVE LEAKING VALVE STEMS, AND HAVE TINY PIN HOLES IN THEM. *SLC
