Odometer Fraud. The contact purchased a 2003 GMC Yukon XL. It was later discovered that there was a mileage discrepancy. The vehicle was a dealer sale on January 26th, 2026. At the time of purchase and at the time of the vehicle registration, the vehicle mileage was 186,000. While applying for insurance on February 20, 2026, the contact was informed that the vehicle was due for a 300,000-mile maintenance plan. The contact confirmed through the Carfax Report that the actual mileage was 300,000. The dealer was contacted and informed of the odometer fraud discovery; however, the dealer refused further contact to resolve the issue. The odometer fraud was also reported to the State Consumer Protection Division.
My 03 Yukon Denali is experiencing all of the same things that the recall on the 2021 Yukon is experiencing. What do I do? The recall notice I am referring to is N252494000
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that while driving at various speed, the vehicle would stall as the battery warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The contact also stated that the vehicle would shake upon depression of the brake pedal without warning. The vehicle was taken to the independent where the vehicle was purchased and was offered no assistance. The dealer nor the manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 200,000.
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that upon purchasing the vehicle from a towing company, the vehicle would not start. The battery was instantly replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle would wobble and shut off inadvertently while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the stabilizers and shocks were replaced. The independent mechanic then took the vehicle to an electrical failure specialist where it was diagnosed that the front end of the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. Additionally, the contact stated that a warning message stating that the air bags were not working was displayed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000. Consumer stated in 2016 the odometer was at 175,000 miles per car fax. When consumer bought the vehicle on March 25th 2022 the odometer read 202,575.
When I turn out of a parking spot it clicks and pops replaced ball joints shocks tie rods everything it won't go away and it does it when I pull into a parking spot
HEADLIGHTS AS WELL AS DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON HIGHBEAMS DO HOWEVER
CAR LOOSES POWER AND GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER. UNABLE TO DRIVE OVER 2MPH. HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES, IN ALL MODES OF TRAVEL, UPHILL, DOWNHILL, FROM A STOP AND ACCELERATION. THE WORST WAS WHEN IT HAPPENED GOING 55MPH ON A HIGHWAY. TWO SEPARATE MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PINPOINT THE PROBLEM EVEN AFTER $1,300 WORTH OF WORK AND NEW PARTS. IT'S BEEN HAPPENING SINCE MID OCTOBER 2019
BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO LEAK FROM RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINE UNDER DRIVER SEAT AREA AND LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID.
CONCERNED ABOUT THE SERVICE NOTICE ON MY DIC WITH THE AUTO RIDE SUSPENSION SYSTEM. P0660 CODE DETECTION. NO INDICATION OF WHAT THE CONDITION OF THE SYSTEM IS INOPERABLE AND IF THE VEHICLE IS IN A SAFE MODE UNTIL REPAIRS OR REPLACEMENT OF PARTS ARE MADE.CURRENTLY THE VEHICLE HAS LOCKED THE AIR RIDE SUSPENSION TO WHICH THE COMPRESSOR WILL NOT ACTIVATE. SHOCKS ARE IN A MAINTAINED PRESSURE TO WHICH THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED IN A FIRM PRESSURE MAKING A SOLID RIDE AS IF THE VEHICLE WOULD BE IF IN TOW MODE.NOT SURE IF THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE HANDLING ARE EFFECTIVE.
FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS MY CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING I'VE REPLACED FUEL PUMP. KNOCK SENSORS COILS AND PLUGS AND IT STILL DOES IT AND DOES NOT THROW A TROUBLE CODE.
ABOUT A MONTH A AGO MY 2003 YUKON XL ALL OF A SUDDEN WOULD NOT DRIVE OVER15 MILES AN HR IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE SHOP TO HAVE DIAGNOSTICS RAN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE BATTERY. THE TRUCK RAN FOR ABOUT A MONTH THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BATTERY WAS BACK DEAD. RETURNED THE TRUCK BACK TO THE SHOP ANOTHER BATTERY WAS PUT IN. IT'S BEEN ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH. THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING FROM MIAMI TO JACKSONVILLE AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER 100 MILES OUTSIDE JACKSONVILLE ON I-95 NORTH. IT HAD ALL POWER JUST WOULD NOT CRANK. HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP NOW I'M BEING TO THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH ELECTRICAL.
LOSS OF POWER WITHOUT WARNING , WHILE ON HIGHWAY. FROM 65MPH TO 0 WITHOUT WARNING. ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH PILE UP....WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED. VERY DANGEROUS...WHOLE FAMILY CHILDREN AND ALL WAS IN THE VEHICLE.
THE RIGHT FRONT DRIVERS SIDE HUBS WAS ABOUT TO COME OFF AND MY ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
I LIVE IN FLORIDA- IT WAS APPROX 8 AM, SITTING OUTSIDE DRINKING COFFEE ON MY PORCH. VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED SINCE PRIOR AFTERNOON AND WAS LOCKED (ALARM ENGAGED). SUDDENLY, MY REAR WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY 'EXPLODED'. THERE WAS GLASS EVERYWHERE BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER RESEARCHING WHAT COULD'VE CAUSED SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO HAPPEN, THERE ARE INNUMERABLE REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER GMC OWNERS WITHOUT ANY PLAUSIBLE EXPLANATION. THIS IS A VERY CONCERNING ISSUE AS GLASS FLEW EVERYWHERE IN AND AROUND MY VEHICLE AND IT IS BY PURE LUCK THAT MY 15 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER AND USUALLY AT LEAST 1-2 OF HER FRIENDS, ALONG WITH MY ONE YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, WHO NATURALLY, IS IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. MYSELF OR ANYONE ELSE MERELY WALKING BY THE VEHICLE COULD'VE BEEN INJURED JUST WALKING BY. HAD SOMEONE BEEN NEAR MY VEHICLE IN A PUBLIC PLACE, I.E. GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT, ETC. THEY COULD'VE BEEN INJURED BY THE SHARDS OF GLASS THAT SHOT OUT AND LANDED 4+ FEET FROM THE VEHICLE, LEAVING ME AT RISK OF FURTHER CIVIL ACTIO AND POSSIBLE SUIT. I AM ALSO A PROTECTIVE INVESTIGATOR FOR THE STATE OF FLORIDA AND OFTEN TIMES HAVE OTHER CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE. THIS IS BOTH A HUGE CIVIL, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS NOT OKAY AND IS NOT A FLUKE INCIDENT BASED UPON SO MANY REPORTED INCIDENTS FROM SO MANY OTHER GMC OWNERS. GMC REFUSES TO HELP. A RECALL ON THESE REAR WINDSHIELDS ARE A MUST AND I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT ONE IS NOT BEEN ISSUED IN ALL OF THE YEARS THAT THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO PEOPLE. THIS IS NOT OKAY.
I HAVE A 2003 YUKON DENALI I PURCHASED AND IT HAS GIVEN ME THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT AND ALMOST HAD A FEW ACCIDENTS ON THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE IT DROPS THE SPEED TO 20 MPH ALSO IT HAS THE CHECK ENGINE CODES AS P0120 AND P2135 I HAVE BEEN AWARE THAT GM HAS NOT FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS AND WANTED TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY RECALLS AS I AM VERY AFRAID OF BEING IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND REQUESTED WITHDRAW THE COMPLAINT. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, A LOUD BANG WAS HEARD AS THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS SHATTERED. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT REMEMBERED THAT THE REAR DEFOGGER WAS TURNED ON; HOWEVER, SHE WAS UNSURE IF IT WAS ON AT THE TIME THE GLASS SHATTERED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE REAR TAILGATE GLASS WAS REPLACED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS OPENED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 225,000.
THE CLUSTER FROM ALL THE DASHBOARD HAS STOP WORKING THE SPEEDOMETER THE GAUGES EVERYTHING
VEHICLE RANDOMLY GOES INTO REDUCE ENGINE POWER MODE AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND GOING UP A HILL WHERE IT NEARLY CAUSED A THREE CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENTS. BASIC RESEARCH SHOWS THAT GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE THE VEHICLES WERE A FEW YEARS OLD AND IT AFFECTS MANY YEARS OF GM VEHICLES. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH BAD GROUNDING CONNECTORS RELATED TO THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR AND AND WIRING HARNESS.

THERE IS NO WARNING CODE FOR THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER WHEN IT STARTS TO GO BAD THAT SHOWS UP ON THE ABS/ODB SCANNER. YOU WILL BE DRIVING AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN YOUR STEERING GETS STIFF, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS HARD TO PRESS AND YOU CAN'T STOP AS GOOD AS YOUR USED TO IN THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF SOMEONE STOPS SUDDENLY IN FRONT OF YOU.
I WAS TRAVELING SOUTH ON SUMMIT CROSSING RD. FREDERICKSBURG VA. 22408 AT APPROX.45 MIL.PER HR. ,WHEN I HEARD A BIG BANG ,THE STEERING LOCKED ,THE VEHICLE WENT DIRECTLY HARD LEFT,AND STRUCK LARGE TREES DESTROYING THE FRONT END. ABOUT 3 MINUTES AFTER THE CRASH THE STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG WENT OFF IN MY FACE.I EXITED THE VEHICLE TO FIND A DAMAGED FRONT WHEEL AND BROKEN AXLE ASSEMBLY NEAR THE VEHICLE.
BRAKES LINES RUSTED WHICH LED TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF BRAKE SYSTEM. REPAIR COST $1,000. THERE ARE MULTIPLE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS TYPE OF BRAKE FAILURE IN THIS MAKE, MODEL, & YEAR. THIS SHOULD BE A MANDATORY FACTORY RECALL. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE BECAUSE GM IS NOT BEING FORCED TO FIX THEIR FAULTY EQUIPMENT. MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND WHEN I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL THE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOORBOARD. I WAS DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD IN MODERATE CITY TRAFFIC & NARROWLY MISSED STRIKING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME ON A CITY STREET. MY MASTER CYLINDER WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY OF BRAKE FLUID WHEN EXAMINED. THE FACTORY INSTALLED HEAD GASKET HAS BEEN SAID TO BE A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS APPARENTLY IS A "COMMON" PROBLEM.

BRAKE LINES CORRODED RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES AND REAR ENDING SCHOOL BUS. REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES AT MY COST AS WELL AS THE DAMAGE TO THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK. NOW, THE KNOWN ABS BRAKE SENSOR ISSUE IS ACTIVATING THE ABS AT LOW SPEEDS.
ALL METERS ON THE DASH BOARD IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. METERS SUCH AS THE SPEEDOMETER, GAS METER, RPM METER, ETC ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WHEN DRIVING ON SMALL ROADS, HIGHWAYS, AND FREEWAYS, IT DOES NOT INDICATE THE SPEED ACCURATELY. THE GAS METER DOES NOT INDICATE HOW MUCH GAS IS IN THE GAS TANK WHEN THE CAR IS STOPPED OR WHEN ITS DRIVING. RPM METER ALSO IS NOT FUNCTIONING WHILE WE'RE DRIVING.
SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER INSTRUMENTS ARE INACCURATELY READING. SPEEDOMETER RANGES FROM 25 - 70 MPH OVERSTATED. FUEL GAUGE REMAINS WELL IN EXCESS OF FULL UNTIL ABOUT 7 GALLONS ARE LEFT IN TANK. OIL PRESSURE IS REGISTERING WELL TO THE RIGHT OF THE HIGHEST READING. PROBLEM BEGAN DURING COLD TEMPERATURE (AROUND 10 DEGREES) AND IMPROVES WITH TEMPERATURE INCREASES BUT HAS NOT RESOLVED ITSELF. APPEARS TO BE THE SAME PROBLEM AS GM SPECIAL POLICY ADJUSTMENT 07187A. THE VIN IS WITHIN THE CATEGORY LISTED BY THE POLICY; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE IS OLDER THAN 10 YEARS BUT FITS WITHIN THE MILEAGE RESTRICTIONS SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 64,500 MILES. THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN DEFECT WHICH CLEARLY IMPACTS SAFETY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE STABILITY CONTROL FAILED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE STABILITY CONTROL ACTIVE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS ALSO A GRINDING SOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 195,633.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW DOWN, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED, BUT FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE ABS INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYDRAULIC UNIT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN REFERRED THE CONTACT TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 142,000.
THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO NEARLY STRIKE A NUMBER OF CHILDREN AT A CROSSWALK. AFTER EXAMINATION BY A MECHANIC, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD CORRODED AND BURST UNDER PRESSURE. I HAVE RECEIVED NO NOTICE OF THIS POTENTIAL FAILURE FROM GMC EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE NHTSA. SHOULDN'T THE MANUFACTURER HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO REPAIR THIS POTENTIALLY LETHAL PROBLEM? AT A MINIMUM I FEEL THAT GMC AND/OR THE NHTSA HAVE A MORAL OBLIGATION TO NOTIFY OWNERS OF AFFECTED VEHICLES THAT THEY ARE DRIVING A POTENTIALLY DEADLY VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON EQUIPPED WITH CONTINENTAL GENERAL GRABBER TIRES, SIZE: 305/23/40R (NA). WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TIRES VIBRATED AND MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER AND OBSERVED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS DEFLATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TIRE MECHANIC, BUT NO DIAGNOSIS WAS PROVIDED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SIX MONTHS LATER WITH THE SAME FRONT PASSENGER TIRE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,799 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,201.
WHILE APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE WAS TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. GUIDED THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP. THEY FOUND RUSTED BRAKE LINES AT THE ABS VALVE ALONG WITH A RUSTED BACKING PLATE FOR THE VALVE. IN ORDER TO IMPROVE VEHICLE SAFETY THE LINES WILL ALL BE REPLACED WITH STAINLESS STEEL SO THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY POOR DESIGN SINCE A SINGLE FAILURE SHOULD NOT CAUSE TOTAL FAILURE OF A SUPPOSED DUAL BREAKING SYSTEM.
TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WHILE STATIONARY AND ENGAGING DRIVE MODE IN DRIVEWAY. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. PARKING BRAKE ALSO SOFT AND INEFFECTIVE BUT RESTORED NORMAL CONDITION SHORTLY THEREAFTER.. NO BRAKE OR ABS SYSTEM SERVICE ALERTS OR FAULT WARNINGS PRIOR TO FAILURE. 'SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM' ALERT PRESENT AFTER FAILURE. NO OBDS CODES PRESENT. SUSPECT BRAKE LINE CORROSION. APPROXIMATELY 170,000 MILES. RECENT TIRE/BRAKE/ALIGNMENT INSPECTION REVEALED NO ISSUES. THIS IS A VERY CLEAN, "NEW TO ME" USED VEHICLE WITH AN EXCELLENT RECORD OF SERVICE. HAD JUST COMPLETED A TROUBLE FREE 2400 MILE INTERSTATE ROAD TRIP.
THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING HAS COME ON SEVERAL TIMES ON MY VEHICLE. THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK, AS YOU HAVE TO PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND SOMETIMES IT TAKES TIME BEFORE THE VEHICLE STOPS. I HAVE HAD BRAKE LINES REPAIRS AND THE PROBLEM STILL IS THERE. WE CANNOT USE VEHICLE UNTIL THE ISSUE IS RESOLVED. OUR MECHANIC ADVISED US TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON THIS ISSUE BECAUSE IT IS AN ACTIVE ISSUE WITH GMC DENALI YUKON'S FOR YEARS. WE NEED ASSISTANCE TO HAVE THIS RESOLVED TO USE OUR VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE KEY CHAIN WAS ATTACHED TO THE KEYS, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START HOWEVER, WHEN THE KEY CHAIN WAS REMOVED, THE VEHICLE START AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 220,000.
MY VEHICLE, DUE TO FACTORY ALARM SYSTEM, IS UNSAFE AND UNFIT TO DRIVE -- A DEATH TRAP ON WHEELS. IT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, WHILE DRIVING, AND LOCKED ME INSIDE! I WAS THANKFULLY DRIVING DOWN THE FL KEYS, ON A BRIDGE BUT AT THE END OF THE BRIDGE, SO I WAS ABLE TO COAST DOWN AND OFF THE BRIDGE TO A SHOULDER... IF IT HAD DIED ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE BRIDGE OR ON AN FLAT ROAD I MAY HAVE BEEN STUCK THERE, BLOCKING TRAFFIC AT THE MINIMUM, IN AN ACCIDENT AND DEAD IF REAR-ENDED AND PUSHED OFF BRIDGE...BECAUSE THE DOORS LOCKED AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNLIKELY TO ESCAPE MY SINKING TRUCK...TO SAY NOTHING OF THE FALL ITSELF. IF I HAD BEEN GOING ON THE INTERSTATE AND I WAS IN A MIDDLE LANE FOR EXAMPLE, I COULD HAVE EASILY DIED BECAUSE MY TRUCK SUDDENLY STOPPED, WITHOUT INDICATION, AND I GOT REAR ENDED BY ANY NUMBER OF VEHICLES, INCLUDING LARGE SEMI TRUCKS. IF I HAD A DEAD KEYCHAIN FOB FOR THE ALARM, I WOULD HAVE BEEN LOCKED INSIDE THE TRUCK AS WELL -- BECAUSE ONLY THE KEYCHAIN WAS ABLE TO UNLOCK THE DOORS. IF MY PHONE HAD DIED OR I HAD NO SIGNAL, I WOULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE AS WELL IF AND UNTIL HELP ARRIVED UNLESS I GOT DESPERATE ENOUGH TO SMASH OUT A WINDOW. ALL THE MECHANICS I HAVE TAKEN IT TO HAVE STRUGGLED TO RESOLVED THE ISSUE, BUT IT IS SOMETHING THE TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR AND FIXED FOR FREE BY GMC -- A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND SEEN OTHER SIMILAR TRUCKS BY GMC HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH FACTORY ALARMS AND MY MECHANIC SAYS HE HAS HAD 2 OTHER, DIFFERENT MAKES/MODELS, JUST ARRIVE WITH NEARLY SAME PROBLEM, AS IF BY FATE AND HE IS HAVING TROUBLE FIXING THOSE AS WELL -- BECAUSE ITS A FACTORY EMBEDDED ALARM PROBLEMS. IT REMAINS UNFIXED TO THIS DAY AND I AM NOT ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL IT IS FIXED.
I WAS TOWING A 17' BOAT AND CAME TO A STOP SIGN. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE YUKON DID NOT SLOW AT ALL. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS COMING AND I ROLLED THROUGH THE STOP SIGN, MADE A RIGHT TURN, AND WENT DOWN A STEEPER HILL. PUMPING THE BRAKES AS I WENT HAD NO EFFECT. THE DASH SHOWED A 'SERVICE BRAKE' MESSAGE. I APPLIED THE PARKING BRAKE AND DOWN-SHIFTED, WHICH SLOWED IT ENOUGH THAT I WAS ABLE TO SWING WIDE INTO THE OPPOSING TRAFFIC LANE AND BARELY MAKE THE TURN AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL. I PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITH THE RIGHT-WHEELS ON A SOFT SHOULDER BEFORE THE VEHICLE SLOWLY CAME TO A STOP. I REFILLED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR AND HAD MY WIFE PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AS BRAKE FLUID SHOT ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD, LEAKING FROM A RUSTED JOINT WHERE THE STEEL BRAKE LINE JOINED A FLEXIBLE, BRAIDED LINE UNDER THE HOOD. THE BRAKE LINES WERE HORRIBLY RUSTED, UNLIKE ANYTHING I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY 35+ YEARS OF DRIVING AND OWNING VEHICLES (INCLUDING 20 CARS AND LIGHT TRUCKS). THIS YUKON HAS SPENT ITS ENTIRE LIFE REGISTERED IN VIRGINIA AND HAS LESS THAN 80K MILES ON IT. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT THEY ARE LIKE IN NORTHERN STATES. LOOKING ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT THE NHTSA HAD INVESTIGATED. WHY WAS I NOT WARNED? I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED, AS COULD HAVE ANOTHER MOTORIST OR PEDESTRIAN! WHEN I CALLED MY LOCAL GMC DEALER (OURISMAN OF ALEXANDRIA, VA), THE SERVICE ADVISOR CLAIMED TO BE UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM, THE GM SERVICE BULLETINS THAT HAD BEEN ISSUED ON IT, AND THE AVAILABILITY OF THE PRE-BENT LINES AS A DISCOUNTED KIT FROM GM. HE ESTIMATED A FOUR-FIGURE LABOR BILL TO DO THE WORK, SO I AM DOING AS MUCH OF IT AS I CAN MYSELF USING NICKEL-COPPER BRAKE LINE AND A FLARING TOOL. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE FROM THIS IF THE NHTSA DOES NOT FORCE GM TO DO A RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR AND RELAY SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
BRAKES FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET WITH NO WARNING COULD NOT STOP AT RED LIGHT. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM LEFT SIDE OF VEHICLE FROM A BROKEN BRAKE LINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL 1500. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE WITH THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING INDICATOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED BEFORE THE CONTACT OWNED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE WARNING LIGHT RANDOMLY FLASHING, WHICH DRASTICALLY REDUCED THE SPEED TO LESS THAN 20 MPH. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY TURN OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO PROGRESS RANDOMLY. THE DEALER REPLACED THE WIRING, 02 SENSOR, THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED A SECOND TIME, THE BATTERY, AND THE ALTERNATOR. THE REPAIRS FAILED TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT SOLUTION AND THE WARNING LIGHT CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE FOR THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 188,000.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. GAUGES RANDOMLY STICK OR FALSELY READ TO INCLUDE SPEEDOMETER. SOMETIMES IT WILL STICK AT A RANDOM SPEED. OTHER TIMES IT WILL PEG AT ITS MAX. UNKNOWN IF ODOMETER IS INVOLVED. SOMETIMES THEY RESET AFTER REPEATED START/OFF CYCLES. WAS COVERED UNDER A GM RECALL BULLETIN NO: 07187B, PAGE 8. CURRENT ODOMETER IS 145,369. SHOULD GM NOT REPAIR THIS AFTER THE WARRANTED PERIOD? THIS IS JUST AS DANGEROUS NOW THAN IT WAS AT 70,000 MILES. OIL PRESSURE GAUGE VERY RARELY READS CORRECTLY. I TRAILER TOW OFTEN AND CORRECT OIL PRESSURE IS IMPERATIVE AS IS A CORRECT SPEEDOMETER READING. ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE I DOWNLOADED FROM NHTSA IS THE NUMBER CSC-10026542-8984. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BEGAN TWO YEARS AGO WITH A FAULTY AMP GAUGE BUT WITHIN THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS IT HAS NOW AFFECTED ALL GAUGES BUT THE FUEL GAUGE, WATER TEMP AND TRANSMISSION TEMP. POSSIBLY RELATED IS THE HEATED SEAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THE HEAT IS ON ALL THE TIME (ON HI) AND CAN ONLY BE SHUT OFF BY UNPLUGGING THE SEAT WHICH DEACTIVATES THE AIR BAG SENSOR, POWER SEAT CONTROL AND THE LIKE. I HAVE NOT CONTACTED GM AT THIS TIME. PLEASE ADVISE ME AS TO MY COURSE OF ACTION.
BRAKE LINE FAILURE - ST. LOUIS MO. BRAKES FAILED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO SLOW FROM 60MPH SPEED ON CHRISTMAS DAY. NARROWLY ESCAPED ACCIDENT/COLLISION. 2 BRAKE LINES WERE FOUND RUPTURED/SPLIT DUE FROM RUST/CORROSION THEN REPAIRED. OTHER BRAKE LINES ARE SHOWING CORROSION & WILL NEED ATTENTION SOON. VEHICLE IS 2003 GMC YUKON WITH 101,300 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WITHOUT WARNING, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING. A MECHANIC REPLACED THE REAR BRAKE LINES; HOWEVER, 1,000 MILES LATER, THE FRONT BRAKE LINES ALSO FRACTURED. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE LINES AND INDICATED THAT THERE WAS EXTENSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR THE FAILURE COULD RECUR. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V045000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE ON HWY AT 70 MPH
BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT OR IMPACT. THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED WHILE THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN THE IGNITION KEY WAS TURNED.
SPEEDOMETER RANDOMLY STICKS, OR ACCELERATES TO MAXIMUM. OIL PRESSURE GAUGES MAX OUT AS WELL. VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITH NO CONCEPT OF SPEED, AND ALSO VERY ILLEGAL. WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE, I CAN TURN OFF THE ENGINE. IF I CONTINUE TO TURN THE KEY 90% (BUT NOT ENOUGH TO START THE ENGINE), AND LET OFF, THE GAUGES WILL DROP UP TO 5%. AFTER 5 MINUTES OF RESETTING THE INSTRUMENTS, THE GAUGES WILL RESET. HOWEVER, THE NEXT TIME I DRIVE I MIGHT BE GOING THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE AT 40 INSTEAD OF 25, BUT MY SPEEDOMETER SAYS 80. CLEARLY UNSAFE.
LOST ALL BRAKING , TOOK TRUCK TO REPAIR SHOP AND THE BRAKE LINES HAD CORRODED AND HAD SEVERAL HOLES IN THEM. I HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE METAL LINES ON THE VEHICLE. BRAKES WERE FINE HOOKED UP UTILITY TRAILER AND PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. GOING DOWN HILL, APPLIED BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR.

THE CONTACT HAD TO GEAR DOWN IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE FLUID LINE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
THE BACK GLASS LEFT SIDE HINGE SEPARATED FROM THE GLASS AND BROKE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE. THE GLASS COULD HAVE COME OFF FROM SUCTION AND HURT SOMEONE. THERE IS A RECALL OUT FOR OTHER GMC SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES BUT NOT FOR THIS VIN.
I LET MY FREIND TAKE VEHICLE AND SHE SAID WHEN SHE BRAKED THE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR.SHE WAS HALF MILE AWAY AND MADE IT BACK .I LOOKED AT LEVEL IN MASTER CYLINDER AND HAD TO PUT FLUID IN.NOTICED BRAKE FLUID ON THE UNDERCARRIGE WHICH LED ME TO RUSTED BRAKE LINE UP FRONT.
