VEHICLE WAS SHUT OFF WHEN CONSUMER'S CHILD SHIFTED THE GEAR SHIFT FROM PARK INTO DRIVE. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO DRIFT DOWN ON THE ROAD AND HIT A PARKED VEHICLE. *AK THE NEW IGNITION SYSTEM DID NOT ALLOW THE CONSUMER TO TURN THE KEY TOWARD THE DRIVER FOR ACCESSORY USE WHEN THE ENGINE WAS OFF AND IN PARK. WHEN IN ACCESSORY MODE, THE BRAKES DID NOT HAVE TO BE APPLIED TO SHIFT THE GEARS. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED AS THE CONSUMERS CHILD HAD GOTTEN OF HIS CAR SEAT AND CLIMBED TO THE DRIVERS SEAT. *SC
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH. *PH THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A FUSE AND FAULTY FUEL PUMP BUT COULD NOT GAURANTEE THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD NOT RECURR. *NM
WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED IN THE EARLY MORNING ALL LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD INTERMITTENTLY AND WOULD LAST ABOUT 30 MINUTES. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, AND REPLACED THE SWITCH SENSOR TWICE, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *SC *JB
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THERE IS A CONSTANT VIBRATION. *JB
2003 GMC YUKON XL, HAVING A CLANKING NOISE WHEN TURNING RIGHT. ALSO, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE IN THE STEERING MECHANISM UNDERNEATH IN FRONT.TOOK SUV IN ON SEPTEMBER 21,2004. DEALER STATED "FOUND CROSSMEMBER BOLTS BINDING AND MAKING NOISE. SMOOTHED OUT MOUNTING HOLES AND SECURED. NO FURTHER NOISE HEARD. ROAD TESTED AND FELT VIBRATION AT 35-45. FOUND STEERING SHAFT NEEDS REPLACED PART ON BACKORDER. WILL CONTACT FOR RETURN APT". CALLED ON 11/09/04 AND WAS TOLD STEERING SHAFT WAS STILL ON BACKORDER AND THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR APPROX. 23 SHAFTS WHICH OTHER SERVICE ADVISORS NEEDED ALSO TO REPLACE OUT DEFECTIVE SHAFTS. FRONT TIRES ARE "CUPPING" ON INSIDE SHOULDERS.*AK
WHEN DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER THE DEFROSTER WILL NOT SEND AIR TO THE LEFT SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, WHICH LEAVES A VOID, AND DOES NOT DEFROST THE LEFT SIDE. HOWEVER, IT WILL SEND AIR TO THE MIDDLE OF THE WINDSHIELD. CONTACTED THE DEALER. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
PASSENGER SAFETY BELT TO SHORT TO LOCK BELT. ( GMC QUICK FIX ADD A PIECE OF BELT MATERIAL WITH TWO BUCKLES) CHEAP GM FIX FOR A $35K SUV SECOND ROW REAR SEAT BELTS ARE NOT SUFFICIENTLY LONG TO ACCOMMODATE 2 ADULT PASSENGERS. THE TWO PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED TO THE GM DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THAT THERE IS NO KIND OF FIX FOR THE REAR SEAT PASSENGER.( WE WERE TOLD TO WAIT ). *JB
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON SUV WITH A 5300 ENGINE. THE IDLE IS VERY ROUGH. THE DEALER SAYS "ITS THE NATURE OF THE BEAST". I ALSO HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON XL, WITH THE SAME ENGINE AND IT DOES NOT DO THIS. ARE THEY SHIRKING THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES?*AK
WHILE DRIVING OVER FIFTEEN MINUTES CONSUMER HEARD A NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, IT SOUNDED LIKE DRIPPING WATER. VEHICLE HAD BEEN SEVERAL TIMES AT THE DEALERSHIP, AND DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE CONSUMER HEARD NOISE. DEALER INDICATED IT WAS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. *AK
MY COMPLAINT IS REGARDING THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED LEATHER SEAT. I FIRST NOTICED IT WAS GETTING UNUSUALLY HOT, THEN I BEGAN TO SMELL WIRE BURNING, AND IT EVENTUALLY QUIT WORKING ALTOGETHER. I AM GIVING AN ESTIMATED DATE AS TO WHEN IT BURNED OUT ALTOGETHER.*AK
I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON XL 1500 THAT HAS A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SECTION MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND AND AS THE SOUND GETS WORSE, THE STEERING BECOMES LOOSE. THE PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING SHORTLY AFTER THE FIRST 12000 MILES. THE DEALER LUBRICATED IT A NUMBER OF TIMES UNTIL THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. AT 62000 MILES FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE SERVICE, THE DEALER SAID A REPLACEMENT PART WAS AVAILABLE THAT WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM. AFTER ARGUING WITH THE DEALER, HE AGREED TO REPLACED THE PART IF I PAID FOR THE LABOR . THE PROBLEM RETURNED AT ABOUT 85000 MILES. THE DEALER LUBRICATED AGAIN. TODAY AT 102000 MILES THE NOISE AND LOOSENESS IS BACK. COULD NOT WIN THE ARGUMENT THIS TIME. HAD TO PAY $213.00 FOR THE LATEST VERSION OF THE REPLACEMENT. I THINK GM IS AVOIDING THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL. THEY ARE WELL AWARE THAT THIS WAS A POOR ENGINEERING DESIGN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE SPEEDOMETER ON THE VEHICLE SHOWS SPEEDS OF OVER 100 MPH AND NEVER LESS THAN 30 MPH. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT NEVER KNOWS THE ACTUAL SPEED HE IS DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES. THE FIRST TIME, THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GMC REGARDING THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD TO HAVE 70,000 MILES OR LESS IN ORDER TO BE REPAIRED. HE RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO PREVIOUS FAILURE REPORTS. THEY ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK WHEN IT BEGAN MALFUNCTIONING AGAIN. THE FAILURE HAS WORSENED AND IS UNABLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
PROBLEMS WITH STEERING KNUCKLE/COLUMN SINCE PURCHASE. DEALER WELL AWARE OF ISSUES WITH THIS PROBLEM. STEERING PART WAS REPLACED WHICH ONLY SOLVED PROBLEM WITH LOOSENESS AND NOISE TEMPORARILY. SECOND REPAIR "EXERCISED" THE STEERING KNUCKLE WHICH WAS NOT EFFECTIVE. STEERING FEELS LOOSE AND NOISE, KNOCKING WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL OR GOING OVER BUMPY TERRAIN. *TR
'03 YUKON DENALI - WHILE DRIVING IN COMPLETE DARKNESS WHILE MAKING A LEFT SWEEPING TURN EVERY VISIBLE INTERIOR LIGHT TURNS OF AND ON FOR 1-2 SEC. THIS INCLUDES HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS BECOMING VERY DANGEROUS AND DISTRACTING TO OTHER DRIVERS. THE DEALER BLAMES IT ON A LOOSE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THEY REPLACED IT. THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ON ANOTHER NIGHT TRIP, THE SAME EVENT OCCURED AGAIN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE ALTENATOR. IT STILL DOES IT. THE DEALER SAYS THEY NOE HAVE NO IDEA. I REALLY NEED HELP. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT COMPLETE LOSS WHILE IN DARKNESS AND SUBSEQUENTLY HITTING A DIVIDER.*AK
2003 GMC YUKON XL HAS BEEN EXPERIENCING MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING COLUMN SINCE IT WAS NEW. AT APPROX. 4,000 MILES, TOOK TO DEALER FOR THUMPING/POPPING SOUND THAT COULD BE FELT IN STEERING COLUMN WHEN TURNING, ACCELERATING, STOPPING OR OVER A SPEED BUMP. DEALER PACKED INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WITH GREASE. DID NOT WORK. TOOK BACK TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. NOTHING MORE FELT IN STEERING COLUMN. AT APPROX. 12,500 MILES TOOK YUKON BACK TO DEALER TO REMEDY POPPING NOISE AND UNUSUAL WEAR/FEATHERING ON INSIDE TREAD OF F. TIRES. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE NOISE. SAID ALIGNMENT WAS OFF AND NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. HAD TO PAY FOR ALIGNMENT/ROTATION. WIFE TOOK VEHICLE BACK WHEN TECH. WAS AVAILABLE TO RIDE ALONG. WIFE WAS ABLE TO GET YUKON TO DUPLICATE NOISE WITH TECH. IN VEHICLE. TSB SAID TO REMOVE BOLTS FROM CROSS MEMBER, BORE BOLT HOLES, LUBRICATE, REPLACE AND TORQUE. DIDN'T GET OFF OF THE LOT BEFORE NOISE RETURNED. NOW AT 25,000 MILES, AFTER MORE UNUSUAL TIRE WEAR AND THE UNRESOLVED POPPING NOISE, TOOK YUKON BACK AT DEALERSHIP. SERVICE MANAGER ORDERED WASHERS AS PER NEW TSB FOR PERMANENT FIX OF POPPING NOISE AND IS EXPERIMENTING WITH ALIGNMENT TOLERANCES. JUST DROVE 10 FEET OUT OF SERVICE AREA PARKING LOT AND POPPING NOISE IS EXACTLY THE SAME. HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK IN ON MONDAY 08/08/05 SO THE SERVICE MANAGER CAN RIDE ALONG TO OBSERVE PROBLEM. TALKED TO A FRONT END SPECIALIST AT WORK AND HE INDICATED THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEMS WITH OUR 2000 & UP G.M. FLEET VEHICLES.(100+) SAID GM REP CAME TO INSPECT, NOTED THE PROBLEM AND LEFT. FRONT-END SPECIALIST SAID THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN GM TORSION BAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM THAT IS CAUSING MOST OF THESE PROBLEMS BUT GM REPS WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR REMEDY. *JB
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES. DEALER REPLACED THE AIR BAG TWICE, AND REPLACED THE COIL TO THE AIR BAG TWICE, AND RESET THE ERROR CODE 5 TIMES. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *MR
REDUCED ENGINE POWER, STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED
DT: THE CONTACT STATED WHEN MAKING TURNS THERE WAS A SCREECHING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. IN SNOWY CONDITIONS WHEN THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WAS ENGAGED THERE WAS DIFFICULTY DRIVING FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER SCREECHING NOISE WHEN SHIFTING FROM AUTOMATIC TO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER OVERHAULED THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, BUT NOTED ALL FOUR TIRES WERE OFF BALANCE AND VARIED IN SIZE. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE THE CULPRIT OF THE SCREECHING NOISE WHEN TURNING. THE TIRES HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED. *AK

VEHICLE SPINS OUT OF CONTROL ON ICE REAR WHEEL FREEZES WHEN BRAKE APPLIED
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE THE CONSUMERHEARD A TICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONSUMER WILL MAKE CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THIS ISSUE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *NM
ERRATIC SPEED ODOMETER. SPEED GAUGE SLOW TO ZERO AND OR DOES NOT ZERO. SPEED INACCURATE DUE TO NON ZEROING PROPERLY. RESETTING THE LOGIC BY TURNING IGNTIION ON/OFF REPEATEDLY RESETS THE GAUGE. PROBLEM STARTED @ APPROX 100,000 MILES AND AS BECOME MORE PERSISTENT. I HAVE HEARD AND READ SIMILAR REPORTS. BEEN INFORMED THAT GMC HAS AGREED TO WARRANTY REPAIRS AT LESS THAN 70K MILES. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN MADE BECAUSE I HAVE EXCEEDED 70K. THIS SHOULD BE CLASSIFIED AS A REQUIRED SAFETY RECALL. CAUSES ERRATIC / DIFFICULT JUDGMENT IN HIGH TRAFFIC SENARIOS. THIS IS NOT A COMMON FAILURE IN VEHICLES AND IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, WHICH RESULTS IN A SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE HEARD THAT GMC HAS REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, HOWEVER NO INFORMATION HAS BEEN PROVIDED TO INFORM OWNERS IF AN UPGRADE WAS MADE OR IS THIS A STANDARD PART, WHICH MAY FAIL AGAIN. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN PLACED IN PARK WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING IN WHICH THE CONSUMER EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER HAD GONE TO THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE TO THE CARGO DOOR BUT THE VEHICLE BEGUN TO MOVE FORWARD AND CRASHED INTO THE HOUSE. THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN PARK THE ENTIRE TIME. *AK *SC
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH DRIVER'S REAR TIRE EXPLODED WITHOUT WARNING. DEALER STATED THAT TIRE EXPLODED DUE TO TREAD WEAR. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS FLICKER OFF AND ON. THIS CONDITION ONLY OCCURS WHILE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 35 MPH AND WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR MAKING A CURVE. THIS CONDITION IS NOT ONLY DISTRACTING, BUT WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH NO OTHER AMBIENT LIGHT I AM UNABLE TO SEE ADEQUATELY AHEAD OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD DRIVERS AHEAD OF ME PULL OVER THINKING THAT I WAS FLASHING MY LIGHTS AT THEM AND OTHER DRIVERS GET IRATE BELIEVING THAT I AM "BRIGHT LIGHTING THEM". THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT APPEARS TO BE WIDESPREAD ON THE DENALI'S WITH STABILITRAK. GM STATES THAT THIS CONDITION IS "NORMAL". I BELIEVE THAT HEADLIGHTS ARE MEANT TO BURN STEADY AND NOT FLICKER OFF AND ON. I AM REQUESTING THAT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS WITH THE AUTO MANUFACTURER TO MANDATE A FIX BEFORE THERE ARE INJURIES ATTRIBUTED TO THIS CONDITION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. DEALER STATED, NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE, THIS IS THE WAY IT WAS DESIGNED, AND CONSUMER MUST GET USED TO IT. *AK
HEADLIGHTS FLASH WHEN TURNING AT SPEEDS OVER APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THESE INCIDENTS HAVE CAUSED ROAD RAGE WITH OTHER DRIVERS. APPARENTLY, OTHER DRIVERS FEEL I'M FLASHING MY BRIGHT LIGHTS AT THEM. *JB
DRIVING 60 MPH ON A 20 MILE BRIDGE, THE ENGINE FAILED (ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WERE ON. NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES. NOTHING APPEARED TO BE OVERHEATED. 2 HRS LATER IT STARTED, 5 MINUTES LATER IT KILLED AGAIN. TOWED TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THEY ROAD TESTED IT AND CAR FAILED AGAIN. FOUND 1 BROKEN WIRE INSIDE WIRE INSULATION. REPAIRED. PICKED UP CAR AND IT FAILED 1 MILE LATER, TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP ON "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THEY FOUND 2 MORE BROKEN WIRES. REPLACED HARNESS. ONE WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. AFTER BRIEF WAIT IT STARTED AND RAN FOR ANOTHER DAY UNTIL I COULD GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP PURCHASED FROM. THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. TWO WEEKS LATER IT FAILED AGAIN. TOW TRUCK TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEARLERSHIP. THEY CHANGED ANOTHER PART RELATIVE TO THE FUEL SYSTEM AND SAID IT "MAY" BE FIXED. I REFUSE TO PICK IT UP OR DRIVE IT AGAIN; IT'S DANGEROUS AND UNDEPENDABLE. HAVE ASKED GM FOR ANOTHER CAR AND I AM WAITING FOR THEIR RESPONSE. *JB
WHEN IT RAINED, WATER ENTERED THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP MAINTAINED THAT THE WATER WAS COMING THROUGH THE ROOF. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SEAL ON THE REAR AND THE FRONT OF THE SUNROOF BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *SC *JB
PROBLEM WITH STEERING RUBBING OR GRINDING NOISE AND UNEVEN TIRE WEARTHIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE THE YUKON WAS NEW. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO A DEALER OVER FOUR TIMES, HOWEVER THEY CLAIM THERE IS NOT A PROBLEM.*AK
FRONTAL IMPACT BETWEEN MY 2003 YUKON XL DENALI AND A 1992 HONDA PRELUDE. IMPACT TO MY VEHICLE IN FRONT LEFT CORNER # 40 MPH CAUSING MINOR DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF IMPACT. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE, NOT THE IMPACT. *JB
EXCESSIVE "PLAY" IN STEERING COLUMN OF 2003 GMC YUKON, AFTER 26,000 MILES AND 8 MONTHS OF DRIVING WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY OR MAINTENANCE SERVICE AGREEMENT. DEALER INDICATED THAT REPAIR INVOLVED A LUBE KIT FOR "INTERIM STEERING SHAFT". DEALER ADVISED THAT GMC ISSUED A MAINTENANCE CIRCULAR REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECT OR MISTAKE BY FACTORY. OWNER CONTACTED GMC CONSUMER AFFAIRS. A REPRESENTATIVE FROM DETROIT STATED THAT NO GOVERNMENT RECALL ISSUED ON THIS SPECIFIC VEHICLE/VIN#, BUT THAT PERHAPS GMC HAD ISSUED A "SPECIAL POLICY" TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. GMC POLICY ON "SPECIAL POLICY" PROBLEMS IS TO WAIT FOR MAINTENANCE PROBLEM TO MANIFEST ITSELF AND BE IDENRTIFIED BY OWNER, INSTEAD OF INFORMING OWNER AND/OR TAKING PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE. *AK
WHEN IT RAINS WATER LEAKS INSIDE THE SUN ROOF. ALSO, WATER LEAKS INTO SUN ROOF WHEN VEHICLE IS INSIDE A CAR WASH. THERE IS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 01448 WHICH DEALS WITH THIS PROBLEM. DEALER ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR VEHICLE ON FOUR DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET CONSUMER FELL ASLEEP BEHIND THE WHEEL AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE. SLIGHT INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE PASSENGERS OF THE OTHER VEHICLE. CONSUMER SUFFERED RIB CONTUSIONS EVEN THOUGH SEAT BELTS WERE WORN. NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER WAS GIVEN A CITATION BY THE POLICE THAT ARRIVED ON THE SCENE.*AK
WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL A LEAK HAS DEVELOPED UNDERNEATH. CONSUMER HAS SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. *AK
ENGINE SHUT DOWN AT 65 MPH ON EXPRESSWAY LOSE OF STEERING, DIFFICULTY WITH BRAKES WAS NEARLY IN AN ACCIDENT TRYING TO GET TO SIDE OF EXPRESSWAY. *AK
THERE ARE SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 YUKON DENALI. FIRST, THE DASH TRIM IS CREAKY AND MAKES ALOT OF NOISE. THE AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT VERY COLD. WHEN I BREAK AND SLIGHTLY RELEASE I GET THIS MOANING LIKE NOISE FROM UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK. FINALLY, ON ONE OF THE RUNNING BOARDS THE PAINT IS PEALING OFF. I AM NOT VERY PLEASED BY ALL THESE DEFECTS, ESPECIALLY FROM A 50,000 DOLLAR TRUCK.*AK
WE PURCHASED A 2003 GMC YUKON. BEFORE IT HAD REACHED 3000 MILES THE NEUTRAL LIGHT CAME ON ON THE 4X4 UNIT. FROM THERE IT WOULD SHIFT ITSELF INTO 4 LOW. WE HAVE HAD IT INTO THE DEALER A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES NOW AND THEY HAVE REPLACED ONE OF THE COMPONENTS 3 TIMES, TWO OF THE OTHER COMPONENTS ONCE. AFTER THE SECON D REPLACEMENT IT STARTED SHOWING NEUTRAL AGAIN ON THE 4X4 UNIT. IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THE PROBLEMS DO NOT ARISE UNTIL AFTER 1000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THESE UNITS. WE ARE TRYING TO DO A BUY BACK BUT GM IS DRAGGING THINGS OUT AND GIVING US A HARD TIME.*AK
CONSUMER STATES TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED FROM PARK WITHOUT FOOT BEING APPLIED TO THE BRAKE. CONTRARY TO INFORMATION EXISTING IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL CONSUMER'S 2 YEAR OLD CHILD CHANGED GEAR FROM PARK CAUSING A COLLISION THAT RESULTED IN MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE.*AK VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR THIRTY MINUTES BEFORE THE CHILD INSERTED THE KEY AND TURNED IT TO ACCESSORY AND WAS ABLE TO SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE STRUCK SEVERAL TREES AND TWO FENCES. THE AIR BAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. THE POLICE WERE NOTIFIED BUT NO REPORT WAS FILED. *PH *NM

WHILE DRIVING AT CALIFORNIA FREEWAY AT 55MPH AND WITH NO WARNING VEHICLE SHUT OFF, CAUSING CONSUMER TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. *AK
MY NEW 2003 YUKON XL HAS AN ABSOLUTELY INTOLERABLE CAB REVERBERATION PROBLEM ! THIS DEFECT CAUSES THE DRIVER AND PASSENGERS A THUMPING EAR PAIN ! I LITERALLY CANNOT DRIVE 1 BLOCK WITHOUT A THUMPING SENSATION IN MY EARS. THIS VEHICLE WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER FOR 4 DAYS, ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM ! OF COURSE, I WAS NOT SATISFIED ! THIS VEHICLE WAS ONLY TWO WEEKS OLD ! I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO LIVE WITH THIS UNTIL THE GM ENGINEERS COULD FIND A FIX. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THIS WAS NOT HIGH ON THE LIST OF PROBLEMS TO SOLVE ! THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO HELP ME AT ALL. THE SALES DEPARTMENT WOULD NOT TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK. I CALLED GM WHO HAS SENT ME TO ONE DEPARTMENT AFTER ANOTHER FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. STILL NO RESOLUTION! UPON NOTIFYING GM THAT I NEEDED TO SEEK A DOCTORS CARE FOR THE UNBEARABLE EAR PAIN WHEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, I WAS SENT TO THE DEPARTMENT FOR COMPLAINT ALLEGATIONS. THIS DEPARTMENT SIMPLY WANTED TO ACCESS THEIR RISKS OF LOSS ! STILL NOTHING RESOLVED. I HAVE ASKED GM TO SIMPLY " DO THE RIGHT THING ". I DON'T THINK THAT THIS ISSUE SHOULD COME DOWN TO ANY TYPE OF LAW SUIT. HOWEVER, IT APPEARS AT THIS POINT, THAT A LAW SUIT MAY INDEED BE THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE MATTER RESOLVED. I PROPOSE TO THE NHTSA THAT THIS DEFECT ( IN ALL 2003 SUBURBAN AND YUKON XL MODELS ) SHOULD WARRANT AN INVESTIGATION AS TO POSSIBLE RECALL. AS YOU CAN TELL, I AM VERY UPSET AT THE POOR QUALITY OF CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE RECEIVED FROM BROWN AND WOOD DEALERSHIP IN GREENEVILLE, NC AND GM. MY 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI HAD JUST OVER 63,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. THE MAJORITY OF THE DRIVING HAS BEEN ON PAVED ROADS/HIGHWAYS. THE HUB ASSEMBLIES (BOTH SIDES) BEGAN MAKING A NOISE IN MARCH OF 2006. SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL CERTIFIED AUTO REPAIR FACILITY AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. THEY TOLD ME THAT BOTH FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES WERE IN IMMEDIATE NEED OF REPLACEMENT AND THAT THERE WAS A DANGER IN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE WORK DONE ON MARCH 22, 2006. TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE THE FAILED PARTS ARE STILL AVAILABLE. I CONTACTED THE BBB WHO, IN TURN, REFERRED ME TO THE GMC CUSTOMER SERVICE OFFICE. AFTER CONTACTING THESE PEOPLE THEY FILE A REPORT #1-408898915. THEY INDICATED TO ME THAT GMC WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME DUE TO THE FACTS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THAT I HAD NOT USED A GMC DEALER FOR THE REPAIR WORK. THE REPAIRS WERE #613.59. THE DEALER WOULD HAVE CHARGED ME APPROXIMATELY $1,000 FOR THIS SAME WORK. THEY DID GIVE ME THE ADDRESS OF THE GMC DIVISIONAL OFFICE IN MICHIGAN AND SUGGESTED THAT I CONTACT THEM TO SEE IF THEY WILL DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I WILL DO THIS, BUT I HAVE NOT DONE THIS YET AS I DO NOT ANTICIPATE A POSITIVE RESULT FROM MY EFFORTS. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DEFECT OF THE PARTS AND/OR VEHICLE. ESPECIALLY SINCE BOTH THE BRAKES AND THE TIRES OUT LASTED THE WHEEL ASSEMBLIES. THERE SHOULD BE AN "IMPLIED WARRANTY" THAT MAJOR COMPONENTS LIKE THESE HAVE A LIFE EXPECTANCY THAT EXCEEDS THE WRITTEN WARRANTY. *NM
WHILE DRIVING OR IDLING, THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" IS DISPLAYED. ENGINE GOES INTO "REDUCED POWER MODE". DEALER REPLACED ACCELERATOR CONTROL MODULE. THIS DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEY NOW THINK IT IS THE THROTTLE BODY. TIME WILL TELL, MEAN WHILE I AM WITHOUT MY $45,000.00 TRUCK. *JB
THE TENSION OF THE DRIVER SIDE BUILT-IN-SEAT SEATBELT CAUSES PAIN IN LEFT SHOULDER EVEN AFTER A SHORT DRIVE. I CHECKED THE TENSION IN ANOTHER GMC CAR AND IT APPEARS TO BE THE SAME. THE DEALERSHIP CANNOT MODIFY THE BELT TO REDUCE THE TENSION, AND GMC "CUSTOMER SERVICE" REFERS ME BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. REQUESTS TO GET GMC'S TECHNICAL DEPARTMENT INVOLVED WERE DENIED - I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP.
THE FRONT AND REAR RIGHT TIRES EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION. *JB THE TWO RIGHT SIDE TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT. THE VEHICLE HAD GONE INTO A 360 DEGREE TURN ON THE INTERSTATE. *SCC
THE HEATER DID NOT WORK. I DID NOT REALIZE THAT UNTIL IN THE HIGHWAY. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 29 DEGREES (F). I WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD IF IT WERE NEEDED (WHICH COULD IMPAIR DRIVING). I CALLED ON-STAR TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEY DETERMINED THERE WERE PROBLEMS IN THE SYSTEM AND SUGGEST ME TO SEE THE DEALER. LATER ON IN THE SAME DAY, THE HEATER WORKED (ONLY ON THE DRIVER''S SIDE) AFTER THE CAR PARKED TWICE.
CONSUMER STATES THAT INSTRUMENT PANEL GETS EXTREMELY HOT DURING NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION. CONSUMER CONCERNED ABOUT POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. PH COMPUTER MODULE WAS REPLACED AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL IS NO LONGER HOT. MODULE ALSO CAUSED NO START CONDITION. *TT
INTERIOR & EXTERIOR LIGHTS FLICKER DRASTICALLY ON WIDE TURNS TRAVELING OVER 40 MILES AN HOUR. THIS IS VERY DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE, AND ALSO TO OTHER DRIVERS DRIVING IN FRONT. *NLM
