MY 2003 YUKON HAS A SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM. THE MPH WILL BECOME LOCKED IN ON SPEEDS THAT ARE NOT ACCURATE. TODAY I WAS DRIVING ACCORDING TO THE SPEEDOMETER 110 MPH, BUT ACTUAL SPEED LESS THAN 40 MPH. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN 40 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH. WHEN I STOP THE VEHICLE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE AT TIMES WILL NOT RESET TO 0 MPH. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR A WHILE, AND HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SOME FRIENDS WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES(GMC PICK UPS) HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THIS A PROBLEM THAT IS BECOMING MORE FREQUENT! *NM
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 70 MPH MY HOOD FLEW UP AND CRASHED INTO MY WINDSHIELD. AFTER INVESTIGATING WHY... THE RIVETS PULLED OUT OF THE HOOD ALLOWING IT TO RELEASE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WERE NO HELP AT ALL. TURNED IT IN TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR REPAIRS. THIS IS REALLY HARD TO SWALLOW WHEN ITS NOT YOUR FAULT AND COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE. I ALMOST CRASHED! *NM
AT 45729 MILES WE HAD TO HAVE THE GEAR BOX REPLACED AT THE COST OF $1044. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY OTHER MECHANICS A GEAR BOX IS A PART THAT IS SELDOM REPLACED ON ANY VEHICLE. I FIND IT RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON REPAIRS FOR A NEWER VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE COST WAS OVER $31000. *JB
WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH STEERING KNUCKLE/COLUMN FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. DEALER WOULD DIAGNOSE AS "JUST THE WAY THOSE CARS ARE, NOTHING IS WRONG". STEERING DOES NOT FEEL SAFE FOR A LARGE CAR LIKE THE YUKON. I PURCHASED AN SUV TO FEEL SAFER WITH FAMILY. BUT STEERING ALWAYS FEELS LOOSE ESPECIALLY WHEN TURNING OR GOING OVER BUMPS. NOISES ALSO WHEN TURNING. OVER TIME IT JUST GETS WORSE. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE A NEWER MODEL YUKON BUT REFUSE TO WASTE MONEY IF THIS IS HOW THEY DRIVE. I DON'T THINK IT'S SAFE. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE CORRECTED BY MANUFACTURER. *TR
DEALER REPORTED THAT THE ROTORS WERE FULL OF CORROSION AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF CUT, HOWEVER BRAKES WERE STILL GOOD BUT BECAUSE OF ROTOR PROBLEMS BRAKES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED ALSO. ROTORS HAVE NOW BEEN REPLACED ALONG WITH BRAKES BUT NOT BY DEALER, DID ON OWN TO SAVE MONEY. *NM
I HAVE TAKEN MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL IN FOR SERVICE ON THE AIR CONDITIONER ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I RECENTLY MOVED FROM MICHIGAN TO TENNESSEE AND WHILE LIVING IN MICHIGAN I NOTICES A SQUEALING NOISE WHENEVER I TURNED ON MY AC. THE NOISE WOULD LAST A FEW MINUTES AND THEN STOP. I ALSO NOTICED A RATTLING NOISE UPON ACCELERATION WHILE THE AC WAS ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MICHIGAN AND AT FIRST NOTHING WAS FOUND. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP IN TENNESSEE AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A RECYCLING SWITCH, AND IT WAS REPLACED. NOW, ALMOST I YEAR LATER THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED BUT UNFORTUNATELY, MY VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY (50,000 MILES) AND I AM NOW TOLD THAT THE AIR COMPRESSOR HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. IT WILL NOW COST ME OVER $1,000 TO REPAIR ON A CAR THAT IS LESS THAN TWO YEARS OLD. *JB

I WAS PULLING OUT OF A TUBBY'S RESTAURANT PARKING LOT IN CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI IN AN ATTEMPT TO TURN RIGHT ONTO GARFIELD ST. MY ATTEMPTED RIGHT TURN FAILED AS MY VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED MID WAY INTO MY TURN, CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO GO INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES, PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE TO REMOVE MY VEHICLE FROM TRAFFIC, AND WRESTLED WITH THE STEERING WHEEL TO TURN RIGHT TO GET ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAD A NEAR MISS AS THERE WAS TRAFFIC COMING FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS ON A ROAD WITH A POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 45 MPH. AFTER THE NEAR MISS, I REALIZED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD LOST POWER STEERING, ONLY TO THE RIGHT. I CAREFULLY DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO RINKE PONTIAC GMC SERVICE ON 1 AUGUST 2005 FOR SERVICE. THE SERVE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT I WOULD HAVE THE PAY FOR IT SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. *JB

THE STEERING COLUMN OF MY 2003 YUKON DENALI WITH 50,910 MILES GOT LOOSE. I TOOK VEHICULE TO A GMC DEALER TO GET IT CHECK AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE UPPER STEERING BEARING WAS FAILING AND RECOMMENDED IMMEDIATE REPAIRS THAT WOULD COST ME $698.12. I CONTACTED GMC AND THEY DECIDE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE TO ME. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICULE TO GET THE STEERING COLUMN FIX I MENTIONED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEE THAT MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO GET TIGHT DURING TURNS AND IF THIS PROBLEM WAS RELATED TO THE OTHER ONE. THEY INSPECTED VEHICULE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE POWER STEERING PUMP IS FAILING TOO. I CALLED GMC AGAIN TO LET THEM KNOW ABOUT THIS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM AT NO CHARGE BECAUSE THEY JUST FIX THE OTHER ONE AT NO CHARGE AND THAT I HAVE NOT SPEND A LOT OF MONEY OUT OF MY POCKET YET FOR REPAIRS ON THIS VEHICULE.
DT: CONTACT STATES WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH VEHICLE LOSES COMPLETE POWER. THE SERVICE DEALER STATES THE VEHICLE HAS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM, AND THEY WILL TRY TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. SERVICE DEALER REPLACED THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM, THINKING THIS WAS THE REMEDY, BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. VEHICLE IS AT THE SERVICE DEALER, AND HAS BEEN THEIR ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS.*AK
DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. THE IGNITION KEY HAS THREE DIFFERENT SETTING AUXILIARY, RUN, START AND THE VEHICLE HAS A STOP MECHANISM SO THAT OWNER CANNOT TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK UNLESS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. HOWEVER, THAT STOP SETTING DID NOT WORK IF THE KEY WAS SET TO THE AUXILIARY. COULD BASICALLY TAKE IT OUT OF PARK AND PUT IT INTO GEAR WITHOUT HAVING TO STEP ON THE BRAKE. UNABLE TO DO IT IF THE KEY WAS SET ON THE RUN POSITION OR IF STARTED VEHICLE. OWNER'S MANUAL DID NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT, AND IT DID NOT TALK DISCUSS THE SAFETY OF THE WAY THIS VEHICLE WAS MADE. WHAT HAPPENED IS HE HAD A 2 YEAR OLD AND A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD WHILE BACKING CAR INTO DRIVEWAY. IS ON A SLANT THEY WERE JUST SITTING THERE THEY HAD THE VEHICLE ON ACCELERATE AND WHEN HE TURNED AROUND 2 YEAR OLD CRAWLED INTO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO GO DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND ACROSS THE STREET. THE DOORS WERE LOCKED TO THE VEHICLE HE HAD TO JUMP THROUGH THE WINDOW AND HIT THE BRAKE. AND HE HAS READ THE OWNERS MANUAL FROM FRONT TO BACK AND HE CANNOT SEE ANYWHERE IN THERE TO WERE IT IS POSSIBLE TO WEAR YOU CAN TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE PARK SETTING WITHOUT HITTING THE BRAKE. HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN IN THE VEHICLE. HE KNOWS SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT HAS THIS SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE WITH THIS SAME MECHANISM AND THERE VEHICLE IS THE SAME WAY.*AK
2003 YUKON XL WOULD DIE LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS WHEN IT STILL HAD AT LEAST 1/4 TANK OR IT WOULD NOT START WHEN IT HAD AT LEAST 1/4 TANK OF GAS BUT IF YOU ADDED 1 - 5 GALLONS OF GAS IT WOULD START. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP HAD LOW PRESSURE AND THEY REPLACED FUEL SENDING UNIT. SEEMS TO BE FINE NOW. DEALER STATED THEY HAD NOT SEEN ANY OTHER VEHICLES WITH THIS PROBLEM BUT I KNOW OF AT LEAST 4 OTHER GM SUV'S THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE SMALL TOWN THAT I LIVE IN
I HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE INTERSTATE FROM A 4 HOUR DRIVE AND HEARD A AWFUL GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT SOUNDED LIKE "METAL AGAINST METAL". AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A BRAKE PAD, BUT THE PADS APPEARED TO BE FINE. I PARKED IT THAT NIGHT AND ON SUNDAY MORNING (6/6/2005) DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND ASKED THEM TO CALL IN THE MORNING. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME MONDAY MORNING AND SAID THAT THE FRONT WHEEL BEARING HAD GONE BAD. IN MY DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER, HE INDICATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SURBURBANS, ENVOY'S AND YUKONS. MY CONCERN IS THAT HOW MUCH LONGER WOULD I DRIVEN BEFORE THE BEARING TOTALLY BUNED UP AND CAUSED THE LOSS OF STEERING? I HAD THE WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLY REPLACED AT A $494.70 EXPENSE TO ME AND IT IS CURRENTLY DRIVING FINE. THE VEHICLE HAD 46,369 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. *NM
I CROSSED OVER SUNSET AND GOT ON 77 S AT APPROXIMATELY 10:30 P.M. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY VEHICLE SPINNED OUT OF CONTROL. IT SKIDDED TO THE LEFT, I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, IT SKIDDED BACK TO THE RIGHT, SPINNED AROUND. WHEN THE VEHICLE STOPPED I WAS FACING TRAFFIC. I REPORTED IT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY THE NEXT MORNING. I WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE CAR. I DID NOT GET SERIOUSLY HURT. I WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND GOT MYSELF CHECKED. I HAD A BIG BRUISE ON MY LEG AND I WAS SOUR FOR ABOUT THREE WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS.
THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AT 60 MPH.*AK AT 1,000 MILES THE VEHICLE'S FUEL PUMP FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPH. *BF
2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING. *MR THE FUEL PUMP FAILED. *SC *JB
AT 32,652 THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED. WE HAVE HAD LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE AND HAVE NOT OWNED IT FOR A YEAR! BETWEEN THE MONTHLY TRUCK PAYMENTS AND REPAIRS WE COULD HAVE PUT A NICE DOWN PAYMENT ON A SECOND HOUSE AND KEPT THE RELIABLE TRUCK WE TRADED THIS ONE FOR!!*JB
THE CUSTOMER COMPLAINT AND REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR 2003 GMC YUKON.***NO ANSWER REQUIRED***. *MR (FAULTY SENDER WAS GIVING AN INACCURATE READING) THE VEHICLE STALLED AT 80 MPH. THIS MAY BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE REGISTERED 1/4 TANK AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE FUEL SENDING MODULE WAS REPLACED. *SC *JB
RECENTLY DISCOVERED, AFTER BEING WARNED BY BRAKE SHOP EMPLOYEE, THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS INOPERATIVE. HE SAID THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE OF THESE VEHICLES, (GM'S - YUKON, TAHOE, SUBURBAN, ETC. SERIES). RETURNED VEHICLE TO GM DEALER WHO REPAIRED IT AND ACKNOWLEDGED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. *JB
IT WAS RAINING, I EXITED I95 ON TO RT 321 IN SOUTH CAROLINA, DECELERATING SPEED ABOUT 40 MPH ON EXIT RAMP TO THE RIGHT, WHEN CAR IN FRONT ABRUPTLY APPLIED BRAKES, I DID SAME, AND VEHICLE WENT IN TO SKID. KEPT FOOT ON BRAKES, NO ALB ENGAGEMENT. VEHICLE SLIDE OFF ROAD, AND TIRES HIT GRAVE AND VEHICLE SPUN 180 DEGREES COMIN TO REST ON PRECIPICE OF CLIFF. WE WERE NEARLY KILLED. THE ALB DID NOT ENGAGE. THE DEALER SAID HE "TESTED"... AND SIAD THEY WERE FINE?? HOW DID HE TEST ON DRY PAVEMENT THAT DAY? I HAVE GOTTEN NOTHING BUT LIP SERVICE FROM THE DEALER AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE. THERE IS A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW IN THE ALB OF THIS VEHICLE, OR AN INTERMITTENT FLAW.. WHO KNOWS HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED NOT LIVING TO TELL THE STORY ABOUT THIS DESIGN FLAW. GM IS DENYING ANY PROBLEM AND IS OF NO HELP. THIS IN MY OPINION IS A MAJOR ISSUE, POSSIBLY WITH ALL THESE ALB SYSTEMS. I NEED SOME HELP ON GETTING MY CAR RECALLED AND FIXED. I READ YOUR "SALT STATE" RECALL, BUT IT IT MUCH LARGER THAN THAT. IT IS A FLAW WITH ALL THESE VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE I HAVE IS A 2003 YUKON XL
GMC YUKON 2003 LOOSENESS IN FRONT SUSPENSION. *BF THERE WAS A RATTLE AND OR LOOSENESS IN THE FRONT END. THE PROBLEM HAD GROWN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH TIME. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND SUGGESTED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING COLUMN SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM RETURNED AND HAD NOT BEEN REMEDIED. RECENTLY THE PROBLEM TURNED TO CREAKS AND GROANS WHEN STOPPING, WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP THERE WAS A METAL ON METAL SOUND. *SC *JB
VEHICLE HAS AUTOMATIC SEATS. THE AUTOMATIC SEAT MODULE WILL NOT RETAIN THE STORED INFORMATION WHICH IS USED TO SET THE SEATING POSITION. THE SEAT WILL NOT GO BACK TO ALLOW THE DRIVER TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE MOTOR THAT OPERATES THE MOVEMENT OF THE SEAT BEGAN TO RUN WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, CAUSING THE SEAT TO MOVE FORWARD INTO THE DASHBOARD. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO WAS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DEFECT.*AK DEALER STATED THAT UNTIL THE MANUFACTURER CAN FIX THE SEAT MODULE SEAT IT SHOULD BE TURNED OFF AND NOT USED. *BF *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S DRIVER SIDE DAY TIME RUNNING LIGHTS KEPT BURNING OUT. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THE SOCKET PART OF THE BULB OVERHEATED AND MALFORMED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED.

THE FRONT LEFT BRAKE WOULD LOCK UP DURING RIGHT TURNS. WOULD HAVE TO RELEASE BRAKE PEDAL TO CONTROL STEERING. BROUGHT VEHICLE TO GMC DEALER. UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. SEATS WILL MOVE WHILE DRIVING,HEATER IN SEATS COME ON WITH OUT LIGHT INDICATING THAT THEY ARE ON. AIR CONDITIONING SPEEDS WILL VARY.THERE ARE TO MANY PROBLEMS. BUT THE MAIN ONE WAS PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD GO INTO REVERSE.*AK
WHEN THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION IS IN THE ACCESSORY POSITION THE TRANSMISSION CAN BE SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, NEUTRAL, DRIVE, ETC. WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PRESSED. MY 3 YEAR OLD WAS SITTING IN MY LAP IN THE DRIVERS SEAT IN A PARKING LOT LISTENING TO THE RADIO IN ACCESSORY MODE HE PULLED THE GEAR SELECTOR DOWN INTO NEUTRAL AND THE CAR BEGAN TO ROLL. THINKING THAT THIS WAS NOT POSSIBLE, I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEIR REPLY, "OH THAT'S WEIRD, I DIDN'T KNOW IT WOULD DO THAT". NO FIX, JUST, "WE WILL LOOK INTO IT". *JB

HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON WITH FIRESTONE WILDERNESS LE P265/70R16 TIRES ON IT. HAVE BALANCED AND ROTATED TIRES AS RECOMMENDED. PREVIOUS BALANCED/ROTATE AT 20,000. CURRENT MILEAGE 24,000 AND MECHANIC REFUSED TO ROTATE DUE TO BROKEN BELTS AND WASHBOARD EFFECT SHOWING ON ALL TIRES. MECHANIC STATED THESE ARE THE SAME TIRES AS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED. COULD LEAD TO COMPLETE TREAD/BELT SPERARATION.*AK
AT APROX 6000 MILES VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A LOUD SQUEELING NOISE EVERY TIME VEHICLE WAS TURNED TO THE LEFT. ON FIRST VISIT TO DEALER WAS TOLD THAT SOME OF THEM DO THIS AND THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. ON SECOND VISIT FOR SAME CONCERN THEY PUT A "CONDITIONER" IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX. ON THIRD VISIT I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO. THE AVM (AREA VEHICLE MANAGER) DECLINED TO MAKE THE REPAIR. GMC CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE WAS USELESS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALER. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR BOX. PROBLEM HAS NOT REOCCURED. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND THAT THE NOISE IS CAUSED BY A PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE IN THE STEERING GEAR BOX RELIEVING PRESSURE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ONE OTHER PERSON THAT I KNOW OF. *AK

FRONT PASSENGER SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LOCK UP. *BF THE BELT LOCKED UP PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE MOVING OR BEING TAKEN OUT OF PARK. AT TIMES THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO REACH TEMPERATURE KNOBS BECAUSE TO BELTS WOULD LOCK. *NM
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND PULLING A TRAILER VEHICLE STALLED. PRIOR TO STALLING THERE WAS SOME HESITATION AND JERKING AS IF NOT GETTING FUEL TO ENGINE. THE DEALER TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP IN ARIZONA, AND FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS WAS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE FOR FUEL PUMP PROBLEM. ALSO, EXPERIENCED STEERING PROBLEM. THE STEERING WOULD BE STICKING, AND IT WOULD JAM WHEN MAKING TURNS EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT. THE MECHANIC AT DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE A SEAL IN COLUMN SHAFT OF STEERING WHEEL. *AK THE LIGHT CLUNK NOISE IN THE STEERING, LOW VOLTAGE, AND INSUFFICIENT FUEL PRESSURE ON ACELERATION INTERMITTENTLY. *SC
HEAD LIGHT FLICKER WHILE DRIVING AND TURNING OR GOING OVER BUMPS. APPEARS TO MAKE DRIVERS THINK I AM FLASHING MY HIGH BEAMS. DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING, NOT ONLY TO ME BUT PEOPLE WHO ARE AHEAD OF ME. DEALER WAS NOT VERY CONCERNED ABOUT PROBLEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF. THIS IS NOT AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE AT NIGHT. *JB
I HAVE HAD ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH MY 2003 GMC YUKON. IT STARTED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2004 WITH MY REAR AIR NOT WORKING, IT WAS INOPERABLE; AND, A POPPING NOISE IN MY STEERING, THE STEERING FELT LOOSE. THE REAR AIR WAS TEMPORARILY FIXED IN OCTOBER OF 2004 BUT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM NOW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2005, ONE YEAR LATER. I'VE NEVER REALLY HAD REAR AIR SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE, IT WORKS OCCASIONALLY. I STILL HAVE NO REAR AIR AND VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT TOOK UNTIL JANUARY OF 2005 TO FIX THE STEERING PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY SPEEDOMETER, WHICH QUIT WORKING IN DECEMBER OF 2004 AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND I HAD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE IN AND LEAVE FOR THE DEALERSHIP TO SEND THE SPEEDOMETER TO CALIFORNIA FOR REPROGRAMMING, THIS PROBLEM WAS FIXED IN JANUARY OF 2005. *NM
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT HAD A POOR FIT. IT WAS LOOSE WHICH MADE THE STEERING DIFFICULT AT TIMES. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A NOISE WITHIN THE SHAFT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. ALSO, PROVIDE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER. *JB THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SHAFT WAS DEFECTIVE. I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. IT IS RAINING INSIDE OF MY TRUCK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND MY WINDOWS ARE UP. MY TRUCK IS VERY WET ON INSIDE. *AK
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. IT NOW HAS 20,000 MILES. GM HAS HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP TWICE SO FAR AND WILL HAVE TO EVERY TIME I RUN LOW ON GASOLINE. IT SEEMS THAT THE PUMP IS LOCATED IN THE GAS TANK AND THE PUMP DEPENDS ON THE TANK HAVING ENOUGH LIQUID TO KEEP THE ELECTRIC PUMP COOL. OTHERWISE IT OVERHEATS AND BURNS UP. I CAN'T BELIEVE SUCH DUMB ENGINEERING. I'M SURE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY CONSUMER WHO HAS HAD THIS TROUBLE. THE SERVICE PEOPLE MAKE NO SECRET THAT YOU MUST KEEP AT LEAST A QUARTER TANK AT ALL TIMES TO KEEP THE PUMP FROM BURNING UP. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, DRIVER FELT A VIBRATION WITH 2003 YUKON XL. WITHIN A MINUTE THE TIRE ON DRIVER'S REAR SIDE BEGAN THROWING RUBBER. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE. THE DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE TREAD BELT WAS COMPLETELY SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE CARCASS. SPARE TIRE WAS PUT ON AND VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A LOCAL TIRE STORE TO HAVE ALL TIRES REPLACED. THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN BLOW OUT OCCURRED WERE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS LE, P26570R16, SERIAL NUMBER V672WL11703. THE DRIVER TOOK TIRES TO DEALERSHIP WERE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED AND AFTER INSECTING THE TIRE THEY FOUND NO NAILS OR ANY OTHER REASON,(DRIVER'S FAULT THAT IS), AS TO WHY TIRE CAME APART WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP INFORMED DRIVER TO CONTACT FIRESTONE TO SEE ABOUT POSSIBLE REPLACEMENTS. THE DRIVER DOES NOT TRUST FIRESTONE'S TIRES AND FOR THE SAFETY OF THE FAMILY REPLACED THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND NAME. *LA
THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRES ON MY GMC YUKON ARE FAILING TO PERFORM PROPERALLY. CUPPING AND IMPROPER INSIDE WEAR ARE A SEVER PROBLEM. THE TIRES HAVE BEEN MAINTAIN AND ROTATED FOR 35,000 MILES. ALAINMENT HAS BEEN CHECKED BY 2 DIFFERENT SOURCES 1 BEING THE GM DEALER. TIRE WARE IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFTEY MATTERWHICH COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE ACCELERATION PEDAL VIBRATED. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND DEALER STATED THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE FUEL SENDER SCREEN. THIS HAPPENED AT LEAST NINE TIMES ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *AK
CONSUMER STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS PEELING. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR REPAIRS. IN THE PROCESS, THE AIR BAGS WERE DAMAGED. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY. *AK
WHILE DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT BOLT BECAME LOOSE, AND WAS JUST 3 TURNS FROM FALLING OFF. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY LISTENED, BUT DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. CONSUMER LATER FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB. VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH 4 PLY TIRES WHICH WAS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE.*AK *NM
ODOMETER READING AND HOUR METER READING DISPLAYING ALTERNATELY EVERY 5 SECONDS WHILE VEHICLE WAS GARAGE PARKED AND OFF, NO KEY IN THE IGNITION, NO OTHER LIGHTS ON. DEALER COULD NOT FIND PROBLEM, BUT RE-SECURED GROUND CONNECTION. ALSO AT VARIOUS TIMES HVAC & RADIO FACE PANEL TO HOT TO TOUCH EVEN WITH A/C ON. DEALER RE-PROGRAMED SOMETHING.*AK
VERY POOR BRAKES ON THIS 2003 GMC YUKON XL. BRAKES FEEL VERY SPONGY AND SOFT, TAKES MUCH EFFORT TO STOP VEHICLE. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 7989 MILES ON THE ODOMETER AND THIS CONDITION WAS NOT PRESENT WHEN IT WAS FIRST PURCHASED. EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH THE STOPPING ABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE.
