I WAS DRIVING OUR 2003 GMC YUKON XL HOME AND THE BRAKES WENT THE FLOOR, LET ME TELL YOU THIS IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY WITH SUCH A LARGE VEHICLE. LUCKILY I WAS A BLOCK AWAY AND MADE IT HOME PUMPING THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE LINES BROKE JUST ABOVE THE REAR AXLE. BOTH LINES COME OUT OF A CONNECTOR AND THEY WERE VERY SEVERELY RUSTY, IT IS TOUGH TO SEE UNLESS YOU REMOVE THE SPARE TIRE. IF YOU LOOK AT THE SAME BRAKE LINES THAT RUN ACROSS THE REAR AXLE, THEY LOOK FINE. DON'T LET THAT FOOL YOU, THEY MAY BE VERY RUSTY UP FARTHER WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE. DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO ME, BUT WE ALSO LOST OUR BRAKES WITH NO WARNING IN OUR 2002 GMC YUKON. THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH 2/2 GMC FROM 2002 AND 2003 THERE MUST BE MANY OTHERS AND ACCIDENTS FROM THIS HAPPENING, ITS A VERY FAST LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID WITH NO WARNING. GM HAS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS IF THEY WANT OUR BUSINESS AGAIN. *TR
TL - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE ABS ENGAGED WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 176,000. PM
BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO RUSTED THROUGH LINE. UPON DIAGNOSIS ALL LINES RUSTED AND REQUIRE REPLACEMENT. HAD TO PUSH PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR HARD TO COME TO SOFT STOP. *TR
DRIVING ALONG WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I NEEDED TO BRAKE FOR CURVE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR. I RAN OFF INTO A GRASSY FIELD TO PREVENT A SERIOUS INJURY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, SHE NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER DISPLAYED AN ERRONEOUS READING OF ZERO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 1 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT INTO A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO RESUME TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 91,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AS THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE PUMP AND THE MODULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO DO THE REPAIRS. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD TO WORK AND I HIT THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS NOT FIRM. I HIT THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING THE BIG SUV AND WOULD HAVE HIT ANOTHER CAR HAD THIS HAPPENED AT A STOP LIGHT OR ANYWHERE WHERE I HAVE TO RELY ON MY BRAKES AS THE STOPPING DISTANCE WAS EASILY QUADRUPLED IF NOT MORE. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY AT HWY AND SIDE ROAD SPEEDS, TRUCK WILL SHUT DOWN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND EXTREMELY ROUGH IDLE AND LOSS OF ENGINE POWER OCCURS. HAVE FOLLOWED ALL RECOMMENDED FIXES BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS. ENGINE CODE 1516, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR OUT F RANGE +- .05 VOLTS. SCARY PROBLEM, AS THIS OCCURS WITHOUT WARNING AND CAUSES IMMEDIATE LOSS OF SPEED. MANY MANY COMPLAINTS POSTED ON THE INTERNET OF THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT NO GMC RECOMMENDED FIXES OR ASSISTANCE. REFUSE TO TAKE THIS TO A DEALER AND LET THEM POKE AROUND AT $95 / HOUR AND OR TO THROW PARTS AT TRUCK IN HOPES OF CORRECTING. GMC NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS POTENTIALLY FATAL PROBLEM. *TR
ON 1/4/14 MY WIFE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVE THRU LANE AND WHEN SHE WENT TO PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD IT TOWED AND FOUND A RUSTED AND LEAKING BRAKE LINE. SECOND INCIDENT ON 2/1/14 WHILE DRIVING AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I PUMPED THE BRAKES ENOUGH TO WHERE I GOT THE VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER GOING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WITHOUT BEING HIT. I GOT IT OFF THE ROAD AND HAD IT TOWED ONCE AGAIN. ANOTHER BRAKE LINE HAD BURST AND FLUID LEAKED OUT. THE MECHANIC STATES THAT ALL OF THE BRAKES LINES ARE RUSTED, SOME MORE THAN OTHERS SO I AM HAVING ALL OF THE LINES REPLACED. SOME TYPE OF RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE AS I AM READING ON LINE OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH PREMATURE RUSTING.TWO LINES LEAKING WITHIN ONE MONTH IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
VEHICLE WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND STABILTRAK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. REDUCED SPEED FROM 60 TO 10MPH. NOW OCCURS ON A REGULAR BASIS. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON A TWO LANE COUNTY ROAD LOCATED IN OLDHAM COUNTY KENTUCKY AND UPON APPROACHING A CURVE, I ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND PROVIDED NO BRAKING ACTION (SEVERELY RUSTED BRAKE LINES BURST AND RESULTED IN TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE ). THE CURVE WAS FOLLOWED BY AN INTERSECTION WITH A STOP SIGN IN MY LANE. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME AND NO OPPOSING TRAFFIC AT THAT MOMENT, WHICH ENABLED ME, THROUGH THE USE OF GEARS AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, TO GET THE VEHICLE STOPPED JUST BEYOND THE STOP SIGN. IT WAS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT MODERN VEHICLES WERE DESIGNED WITH REDUNDANCY IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH WOULD PREVENT TOTAL BRAKING FAILURE, BUT APPARENTLY THAT IS NOT TRUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL ACCOUNTS OF SIMILAR FAILURES WITH THIS FAMILY OF VEHICLES AND I THINK ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN QUICKLY AS THE NEXT VICTIM MAY NOT BE AS FORTUNATE AS ME AND MY 10 YEAR OLD GRANDDAUGHTER WERE THIS PAST WEEK. *TR
IN DECEMBER 2013 MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING OUR 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500 4X4 OUTSIDE OF COOPERSTOWN, NEW YORK. THE BRAKES FAILED ON ROUTE 26 COMING DOWN THE HILL TOWARDS ROUTE 28. IT WAS SNOWING AND ABOUT 11:30 AT NIGHT. WE SLID SIDEWAYS DOWN THE HILL AND ACROSS ROUTE 28. THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED US FROM ROLLING OVER AN EMBANKMENT WAS THE NEW METAL GUARDRAIL THAT WAS RECENTLY INSTALLED ALONG ROUTE 28. FORTUNATELY, WE WERE NOT INJURED, AND THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE ON THE ROAD. I EXPERIENCED IMMEDIATE AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. IT WAS NOT A SLOW PROCESS. OUR YUKON IS WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS ONLY 89,000 MILES ON IT. 1 - MY LOCAL DEALER, WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW, AND WHO INSPECTED MY VEHICLE BRAKE LINE FAILURE AND QUOTED THE REPAIRS, DENIED A BACKUP SYSTEM IN THE EVENT OF A BRAKE LINE FAILURE. 2 - A DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT ALL FIVE OF MY BRAKE LINES HAD FAILED AND WERE LEAKING FLUID DURING A TEST TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. 3 - I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INSPECTED BY FOUR DIFFERENT REPAIR SHOPS, WITHIN ONE WEEKS TIME, AND THEY ALL CONFIRM FAILURE OF THE BRAKE FLUID LINES DUE TO RUST. I DID NOT YET HAVE THE BRAKES REPAIRED YET BECAUSE THE QUOTES WERE SO HIGH. MANY NEW YORKERS MAY HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED THIS BRAKE LINE FAILURE , OR ARE STILL AT RISK OF A SERIOUS, OR FATAL ACCIDENT. MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN SERIOUS INJURIES AND POSSIBLY DEATHS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND THIS BRAKE LINE FAILURE MAY HAVE BEEN THE CAUSE. I STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT ACCIDENT FILES BE REVIEWED BY VEHICLE YEAR AND MODEL, AS LISTED IN THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION REPORT, TO SEE IF THERE IS A CORRELATION. WE OFTEN SEE FATALITIES LISTED AS SPEED TO FAST FOR ROAD CONDITIONS WHEN IN FACT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN BRAKE LINE FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND STALLED. THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES TO REPAIR THE THROTTLE BODY, PEDAL SWITCH, AND WIRING HARNESS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000. ALL AUTOMOBILES IN NORTH-AMERICA SHOULD HAVE STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES TO PREVENT CORROSION, IT ONLY MAKES SENSE AND ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD AS FAR AS COST; BRAKE FAILURE IS PROBABLY THE MOST DANGEROUS THING THAT CAN HAPPEN THAT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING. I AM AWARE THAT AUTO MANUFACTURERS WANT US TO REPLACE COMPONENTS AND MAKE MONEY DOWN THE LINE, BUT BRAKE COMPONENTS SUCH AS BRAKE LINES HAVE TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THIS. *TR
2003 GMC YUKON. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO INTERMITTENT ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, WARNING BELLS STARTED TO SOUND AND THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM LIGHT, ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID, AND FOUND IT WAS OK. THE NEXT DAY, HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE THEY REPLACED THE PADS AND CHECKED THE SYSTEM. THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK, WHICH VERIFIED THE ABS HAD COME ON, BUT RESET WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RE-STARED. THE BRAKE SHOP RECOMMENDED THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. HOWEVER, IN THEIR OPINION THE ABS MODULE AND ABS PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY EXPLAINED TO THE CONSUMER, WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT WAS ON, THE ABS WAS INOPERATIVE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, IT WOULD COST $125, JUST TO RUN THE DIAGNOSTIC AND IF THE MODULE AND PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, IT WOULD COST $ 2,200. THE ABS LIGHT STAYED OUT FOR WEEKS. HOWEVER, IN MARCH 2014, THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. *JB
COMING TO A STOP TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, LIGHT COATING OF SNOW ON THE ROAD MADE IT SLIPPERY, ABS BRAKING CYCLED I HELD BRAKE PEDAL DOWN AS THE MANUALS SAY TO DO WITH ABS SYSTEM, TRUCK SLOWED ABS CYCLED AGAIN AND THEN PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. MY VEHICLE ENDED UP SIDEWAYS IN ROAD AND THIRTY FEET FROM MY TURN AND NEARLY IN A DITCH, I THEN BACKED UP TO MAKE MY TURN AND BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AGAIN AS I STOPPED TO ENTER MY ROAD , FORTUNATELY MY HOME WAS ONLY ABOUT 500 YARDS FROM THIS SPOT. I HAD ALMOST NO BRAKES AT ALL AS I ENTERED MY DRIVEWAY AND PARKED.I THEN INSPECTED FLUID LEVEL IN MASTER CYLINDER WHICH APPEARED FULL , FROM THERE I FOLLOWED LINE DOWN TO THE ABS MODULE TO THE BRAIDED BRAKE LINE AND STILL SAW NO LEAKS, THEN FOLLOWED THE BRAIDED BRAKE LINE TO THE BRAKE LINE TUBING TO THE FRAME BEHIND THE WHEEL WELL WHERE THE LINE CLOSEST TO THE WHEEL WELL WAS LEAKING FLUID AND IT HAD SPRAYED ALL OVER THE LINE AND UNDER CARRIAGE AND FRAME AND WHEEL HOUSING SHROUD. THE LINE IS RUSTED OUT AND BURST THE TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 80000 MILES ON IT AND IS WELL MAINTAINED AND I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW WITH 8 MILES ON IT AND PAID $43000 FOR IT. THIS IS HORRENDOUS AND INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS THERE WAS NO STOPPING POWER AT ALL, HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR AT A BUSY INTERSECTION THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE, WHICH RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 213,000.
LOST ALL BRAKING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR- NO WARNING . BRAKE LINE FROM FRONT TO BACK RUSTED THRU. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR KIDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD FOR HALLOWEEN. THERE WERE LOTS OF PEOPLE AND SMALL CHILDREN WALKING FROM HOUSE TO HOUSE. SHE WENT TO PUT THE BRAKES ON AN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. SHE WAS ABLE TO BLOW THE HORN AND AVOID HITTING ANYONE AND CAME TO A STOP AFTER ROLLING THROUGH A STOP SIGN. I INSPECTED THE BRAKE LINES. THE BRAKE LINE THAT GOES ABOVE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE IS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND FAILED. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED TO AVOID THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. YOU CAN BET IF SOMEONE WAS INJURED THIS WOULD BE A MUCH BIGGER PROBLEM. WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO BE KILLED FROM POOR DESIGN AND POOR MATERIALS? *TR
WIFE DRIVING TRUCK TO WORK " REDUCED ENGINE POWER", MESSAGE CAME ON THE DASH, AND ALSO SAID TRACTION CONTROL WAS DISABLED. POWER WAS REDUCED GRADUALLY TO TEN MILES PER HOUR. SHE FLOORED THE GAS, NOTHING. TURNED IT OFF, RESTARTED IT, NOTHING. ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION DISABLED LIGHTED WERE ILLUMINATED. ALSO THE REAR MIRROR TEMPERATURE DISPLAY FLICKERS ALL THE TIME. DRL BURN OUT ALMOST DAILY. GMCS HAVE MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES BEFORE PEOPLE START DYING. IMAGINE A CAR SHUTTING DOWN ON YOU WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. THAT AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THE REAR WIPER WORKS WHEN IT FEELS LIKE WORKING, THERE IS ALSO A MESSAGE ABOUT FIXING THE RIDE CONTROL. FOR ALL THE BAIL MONEY GMC GOT, THEY SHOULD RECALL THESE MISTAKES THEY MADE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH UPHILL WHEN MY ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. MY SPEED WAS IMMEDIATELY REDUCED TO ABOUT 35 MPH EVEN THOUGH I TRIED TO ACCELERATE. I DROVE HOME ABOUT 8 MILES AT A REDUCED SPEED BECAUSE I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK AND IT WAS RAINING. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO A MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY AND HE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I PICKED UP THE TRUCK THAT EVENING AND AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE MECHANIC, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TC LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN HOWEVER HE SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. HIS THOUGHT WAS TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AGAIN. TWO REPLACEMENTS LATER, THE PROBLEM REMAINS. *TR
I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND THE REAR STEEL BRAKE LINE BLEW OUT. I KNOW THE CAR IS 10 YEARS OLD, BUT I LIVE IN SOUTHERN VIRGINIA WHERE WE VERY RARELY GET SNOW AND THEY NEVER SALT THE ROADS. *TR
I HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF REDUCED ENGINE POWER. IT SLOWS THE VEHICLE DOWN AND PEOPLE BEHIND THEM REARENDED THEM BECAUSE IT IS A SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED AND THERE IS NO TIME TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES PLEASE GET THIS FIXED BEFORE A CHILD IS INJURED OR KILLED THANK YOU. *TR
DRIVING TO WORK AND "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" CAME ON. ENGINE STALLED OUT AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED. I WAS IN A LOT OF TRAFFIC WHEN THIS HAPPEN AND MY VEHICLE CAUSE A INCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN ENGINE REDUCED ALL SPEED. GMC SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND INFORM THE PUBLIC OF ALL THE DANGERS THESE VEHICLES ARE CAUSING FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION. THIS IS LUDICROUS THAT GMC DOES NOT HAVE THESE VEHICLE OFF HE STREETS AND DESTROYED KNOWING THAT THEY ARE PUTTING PEOPLE LIVES IN DANGER. I WILL NEVER EVER BUY A GMC VEHICLE AGAIN. *TR
ENGINE WENT INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER (REP) MODE AND 4 DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLESHOOTING CODES (DTC'S) WERE SET ALL RELATING TO THE THROTTLE ACTIVATION CIRCUIT (TAC). WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE ENGINE POWER IS SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY AND THE ENGINE WILL ONLY IDLE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH GM AND IS A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER STEPPING ON MY BRAKES AGGRESSIVELY TO STOP FOR A DOG CROSSING THE ROAD. I RECEIVED A BRAKE STABILITY NOTICE ON MY DASH. THEREFORE THREE CARS AFFECTED BY THE ACCIDENT. MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME AND THAT WAS THE WORST PART, I WOULD HAVE COASTED RIGHT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION ON MAIN STREET HAD I NOT STOPPED THE WAY THAT I DID. VEHICLE POWERS DOWN WITHOUT ANY PATTERN, RHYME OR REASON. IT WILL DO IT AT 5 MPH, AND AT 55 MPH, WHEN DRIVEN A LOT, AND WHEN NOT. REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT TURNS ON, VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWS TO 25 MPH MAX, STEERING BECOMES HARD, BRAKES TOO. THEN WILL TOTALLY SHUT OFF IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND WIRING HARNESS TWICE. FUSES, FUEL PUMP AND FILTERS, OIL, AND EVERYTHING ELSE AS RECOMMENDED. IT PUT ME IN THE DITCH. IT STRANDED ME IN THE CENTER OF A FREEWAY IN WINTER. WHEN IT SITS FOR A WHILE, IT RESETS, ONLY TO DO IT AGAIN. T/C LIGHT TURNS ON ALSO. I FOUND OUT THAT I CAN MANUALLY RESET THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER FOR A FEW MOMENTS (TO GET OUT OF THE CENTER OF THE ROAD) BY TURNING THE IGNITION SWITCH ON AND OFF VERY FAST. I HAD TO SWERVE INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I CRAWLED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE FLOOR AND THE HARD LINES UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR. THE TECH RE-CONSTRUCTED THE BRAKE LINES FROM SCRATCH USING A CORROSION-RESISTANT ALLOY TUBING. THIS TUBING SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACING AGAIN. TECH ALSO LABORED AND EXTRACTED BRAKE BLEED VALVES FROM CALIPERS. THESE WERE TINY RUSTED NUBS. TECH RE-ASSEMBLED, FILLED AND BLED THE ENTIRE BRAKE SYSTEM, RE-TESTED FOR LEAKS AND PROPER OPERATION.ALL REPLACEMENT LINES WERE CUSTOM-BENT FROM BULK TUBING. THE BLEEDING PROCESS TOOK OVER 2 HOURS BECAUSE THE ABS UNIT WAS IN-OPERATIVE. 10 1/2 HRS OF TECH'S TIME WAS USED. THE ACTUAL BRAKES AND COMPONENTS AT THE4 WHEELS REMAIN UNCHANGED. THE ENTIRE BILL CAME OUT AT CLOSE TO $1100 BUT WAS DISCOUNTED BY $200 DUE TO CUSTOMER LOYALTY,THANKS!!! SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED ON NOVEMBER, 2013 WHERE I APPLIED BRAKES PRIOR TO MOVING TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO DRIVE WHILE ON A HILL. WHEN I APPLIED BRAKES THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH NO BRAKING CAPABILITY. I DETERMINED THAT THE LEFT REAR BRAKE LINE IS SPEWING FLUID. AGAIN, NO BRAKING CAPABILITY IN THE FRONT BRAKE SYSTEM. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO A REPAIR FACILITY. I ASSUME THAT THE REAR BRAKE LINES HAVE ALSO RUSTED THROUGH. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS INCIDENTS ON INTERNET ABOUT GMC BRAKE LINES RUSTING. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AS THERE IS NO BRAKING ABILITY AT ALL EXCEPT FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IF ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES RUSTS. FIRST, THESE LINES SHOULD BE MADE OF MATERIALS THAT DO NOT RUST.
