TRUCK STARTED TO HAVE MAJOR ELETRICAL ISSUES. BLUBS BURNING OUT OFTEN SOCKETS BURNING OUT HAD TO REPLACE TOO OFTEN. LIGHT COVERS MELTING. HEADLIGHTS OUT AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON FOR DAYS, HAVE TO TAP THEM TO GET THEM TO COME BACK ON. HORN BLOWS FROM ALARM ALL TIMES OF THE DAY AND NIGHT. INSIDE LIGHTS ON DASH, STEERING WHEEL AND DOORS WILL NOT WORK AT TIMES ALL LIGHTS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. LIGHTS AT TIMES TOO OFTEN WILL NOT WORK AT ALL. STABILITY WARNING LIGHT COMES OFTEN. AFRAID TRUCK WILL CATCH FIRE FROM THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES.. PLEASE HELP!!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION CAMPAIGN DUE TO THE CURRENT MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.
RUSTED BRAKE LINES CAUSED IMMEDIATE LOSS WITH NO WARNING. LOSS OF BRAKES WERE CATASTROPHIC WITH ONLY EMERGENCY BRAKES AVAILABLE. CAR CAME TO A CONTROLLED STOP ON MEDIAN BUT COULD OF BEEN MUCH WORSE GIVEN NO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE VICINITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOY INADVERTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
DRIVING 65 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR LOSES POWER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! THE DASH SAYS REDUCED ENGINE POWER. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. CODES FOR THE PROBLEM P0120, P0171, P0174, P0300, P2135. I GOT EVERYTHING DONE THAT WAS SUGGESTED THE CODES ARE GONE AND IT'S STILL HAPPENING!! NOT SURE WHAT THE GMC DEALERSHIP IS UP TO BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE TO WHAT'S CAUSING IT OR HOW TO FIX IT! *TR
BRAKES FAILED WHILE STOPPING AT CROSS WALK. CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS ROTTED BRAKE LINES. *TR
ON DEC. 4, 2012 HEADING NORTH ON THE NJ TPKE TOWARD THE GW BRIDGE AND GOT CUT OFF. HIT THE BRAKE AND THE DASH BOARD LIT UP, THE BRAKES WERE FAILING, PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I HAD NO BREAKS. ABLE TO STEER CLEAR OF TRAFFIC. SLOWED THE CAR BY LOWERING GEAR AND PUMPING BRAKE AND ENTERED THE TOLL FOR GW IN A CASH LANE IN ORDER TO GET HELP. ABLE TO STOP CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT BUT ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS VERY LATE (9PM) AND TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT DRIVES FINE BUT WHEN IT GETS TO SPEEDS AROUND 50-60 IT WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF I HAVE TO PUT IT ON N AND TURN THE KEY ALL THE WAY BACK AND THEN TRY STARTING IT AGAIN. AFTER IT TURNS OFF THE FIRST TIME THEN IT WILL START TURNING OFF MORE RANDOMLY. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS AROUND THE SAME YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE EXCESSIVELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE SHOCKS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
I STARTED MY TRUCK. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. I BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD, THEN APPLIED MY BRAKES PRIOR TO EXITING MY DRIVEWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, THE BRAKE SERVICE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED FORWARD. I HAD TO PUMP THE BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP. I PULLED THE TRUCK OVER AND OBSERVED BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE STREET. I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK AND SAW THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND THAT IT BURST SOMEWHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRUCK ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT AFTER GETTING GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAS SHORTAGE DURING THE MAJOR SNOW STORM IN THE NORTH EASTERN UNITED STATES. AS I WAS APPROACHING A LIGHT I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. I THEN BROUGHT IT TO A MECHANIC AND WHEN IT WAS PLACED ON A LIFT THEY NOTICED THE ENTIRE BOTTOM OF THE CAR WAS RUSTED INCLUDING THE BRAKE LINES. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST. *JS
DRIVING ON HWY GOING APRX 65MPH. VEHICLE SAID REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND STARTED SLOWING DOWN. I HAD TO PULL TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. I MANAGED NOT TO BE REAR ENDED. THIS HAS HAPPENED OFTEN. IT IS A POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. GMC KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO FIND THE PROPER FIX. SOMEONE IS GOING TO DIE DUE TO THEIR LACK OF ACTION. IT'S NOT SAFE. *TR
THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL TURN ON AND THE INFORMATION CENTER ON MY CLUSTER READS "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND "STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLE", THEN MY SPEED IS REDUCED AND ONLY RUNS BETWEEN TEN AND TWENTY MILES PER HOUR. I HAVE TO TURN OFF MY TRUCK AND TURN IT BACK ON AFTER A FEW MINUTES TO CONTINUE, BUT THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ON A DAILY BASIS. I THINK GMC IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS AND MORE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. *TR
APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT AT 35 MPH, WITHOUT WARNING THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I COULD NOT SLOW THE CAR DOWN VERY MUCH AND WENT THROUGH A VERY YELLOW LIGHT. FORTUNATELY THE CAR WAITING AT THE LIGHT HAD NOT ENTERED THE INTERSECTION. THE A BRAKE LINE ROUTED ABOVE THE FRAME BLEW APART LOSING BRAKE FLUID EVERY TIME I PUMPED THE BRAKES. NO PRESSURE TO OPERATE THE REAR BRAKES. THE BREAK OCCURRED AT A RUSTED LOCATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH, THE REAR WINDOW DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 177,702.
WE HAVE A 2003 YUKON THAT WILL SHUTS DOWN ANYWHERE AND ANYTIME, THE FOLLOWING EXAMPLE HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. WE WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" "STABILITY TRACTION LOSS" APPEARED ON DISPLAY - I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART IN ORDER FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE CORRECTLY AND A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD, IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT WAS A SNOWY MESS OUT SIDE WHICH MADE THE SITUATION WORSE. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AS I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE IN ORDER TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I GET SCARED BECAUSE THERE COULD BE A SEMI BEHIND US AND IT WILL JUST PLOW INTO US BECAUSE WE CAN NOT DO ANYTHING UNTIL WE SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND RESTART. VERY SCARY. WE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE TO FIND OTHER PEOPLE ARE IN THE SAME SITUATION AND NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THIS IS A LONG STANDING ISSUE, GM IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. GM SEEMS TO BE HAVING ALOT OF PROBLEMS THAT THEY ARE NOT DEALING WITH. SHAME ON GM! *TR
BRAKE LINE BURST WHILE UNDER A HARD BRAKING SCENARIO. FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED ALL LINES UNDER AND UP TO THE PROPORTIONING VALVE ARE ALL ROTTING TO THE POINT OF NEEDING TO BE REPLACED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY COMING TO AN INTERSECTION TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. THE LEFT HAND TRAFFIC SIGNAL ARROW WAS GREEN AS I APPROACH THE LIGHT, APPROX 300 FEET AWAY THE ARROW LIGHT TURN YELLOW, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO HIT THE BREAKS AND THEY WENT TO THE FLOOR, ON COMING TRAFFIC WAS STILL STOPPED WHEN I REALIZED I WAS NOT STOPPING AND HAD TO GO THROUGH THE RED ARROW LIGHT. I TRIED TO USE MY EMERGENCY BRAKE AFTER MAKING THE TURN ON RED, THAT BRAKE ALSO WENT TO THE FLOOR BUT SEEM TO SLOW ME DOWN ENOUGH SO I COULD PULL INTO A MALL PARKING LOT AND HIT THE CURB SIDE TO STOP THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY. *TR
I NOTICED BRAKE FLUID ON DRIVEWAY. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWS" HEAVY" RUST ON METAL BRAKE FLUID LINES ALONG FRAME. I FOUND LEAK IN METAL LINE ON LT REAR LINE MASTER CYL LEVEL WAS LOW . LEAK APPEARS TO HAVE STARTED WITHIN THE LAST FEW DAYS. . VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION . I WORK WITH ANOTHER YUKON OWNER [ 2000 YUKON XL] . HE HAD EXACT SAME PROBLEM . LUCKILY I FOUND IT BEFORE ANY ACCIDENT OCCURRED. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO REMOVE HER FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LINES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 120,000.
I WAS LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL ON MY GMC YUKON BLEW OUT. THE LINE HAD RUSTED THOROUGH. THIS OCCURRED IN 2012. SINCE THEN AS A GM TECHNICIAN I HAVE SEEN AND HEARD OF CUSTOMERS, FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS WITH GM TRUCKS HAVE THEIR BRAKE LINES BLOW OUT FROM RUST. GM HAS A REAL ISSUE WHICH SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. THE BRAKES LINES ON THEIR TRUCK MODELS TEND TO RUST OUT. GM HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL BUT OFFERED A NEW BRAKE LINE KIT. MY QUESTION TO YOU IS WHY? I HAVE NOT SEEN THIS ISSUE ON THE SAME MODEL YEAR GM CARS. AS FAR AS I KNOW NO ONE HAS DIED AS A RESULT BUT THERE HAS TO HAVE BEEN INJURIES. IS IT NOT YOUR JOB TO INVESTIGATE THIS ISSUE? ONCE AGAIN WHY?
PURCHASED 2003 YUKON XL FAILED STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE OF BROKEN MANIFOLD EXHAUST BOLTS CAUSED LEAKING MANIFOLD GASKET. EMISSION AND POSSIBLE FIRE POTENTIAL DUE TO LEAKING MANIFOLD. REPAIR COST ESTIMATED IN ACCESS OF $1,700. *TR

BRAKE LINES UNDER DRIVERS SEAT ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND SEEMS TO BE EXPERIENCING EXCESSIVE RUST ON BRAKE LINES. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR ALMOST CAUSING ME TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT. MY FAMILY AND I OWN AND HAVE OWNED NUMEROUS GM PRODUCTS AND WE'RE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS SAFETY HAZARD NOT BEING ADDRESSED BY GM. MAYBE IT'S TIME TO SHOP ELSEWHERE... *TR

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WHEN ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BECAME STUCK AND SOME WERE PROVIDING INACCURATE READINGS INCLUDING THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE SPEEDOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90,000.

I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE. THE ISSUE ITSELF IS THE TRUCK KICKS INTO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MODE AND THEN IT DOES NOT GO ANY FASTER THAN IDLE WHICH MEANS IT ALL OF THE SUDDEN REDUCES THE SPEED TO 5 MPH MAXIMUM AS WELL AS THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND THE ABS BRAKES. THAT IS VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN TROUBLESHOOTING THE ISSUE WITH NO SOLID FIXES FROM WHAT I CAN FIND. I BELIEVE GM SHOULD COME UP WITH A FIX SO THAT ISN'T A DANGEROUS HAZARD TO CONSUMERS AND OWNERS OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE THERE 2003 MODEL YEARS, IT SEEMS TO BE MOSTLY THERE 2003 MODEL YEARS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AND FAILED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THE CONTACT HAD TO UTILIZE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. THE MECHANIC REPAIRED THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE AND MASTER CYLINDER. THE CONTACT DID NOT CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE BRAKE LINES HAVE CORRODED AND ROTTED OUT. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS LOCATED IN THE LINES UNDER THE DRIVERSIDE FIREWALL. I AM INFORMED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THE LINES ARE DIFFICULT TO REPLACE DUE TO THEIR LOCATION. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-75 NORTH AT THE I-4 EXIT I BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN FOR STOPPED TRAFFIC AHEAD AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WORKED FOR A BRIEF MOMENT BEFORE QUICKLY LOOSING ALL PRESSURE AND GOING TO THE FLOOR. ALL BRAKING POWER WAS LOST IMMEDIATELY AND I BARELY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT BY SWERVING OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID THE STOPPED TRAFFIC IN MY LANE. UPON INITIAL INSPECTION IT BECAME OBVIOUS THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED BEHIND THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. THE LINES ARE ALL HEAVILY CORRODED AND RUSTED, THEREBY BECOMING BRITTLE AND FAILING UNDER PRESSURE. *TR
AS A WAS APPROACHING AN INTERSECTION I APPLIED MY BRAKES ONLY TO FEEL THEM DROP TO THE FLOOR. AFTER PULLING OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTING MY ENGINE COMPARTMENT I FOUND THAT THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER. I MANAGED TO LIMP THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR FACILITY WHICH NOTIFIED ME THAT MY BRAKE LINES ALL WERE RUST AND BADLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY STATED THAT A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE IT IS NOT COMMON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND LOST POWER WITH NO WARNING. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AVOIDING ONE COLLISION. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO HOME. THE DEALER HAD TO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY. I CONTACTED GM AND ASKED WHERE WAS THIS CLEANING FOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE. THEY COULD NOT ANSWER. I AM FEARFUL FOR OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. WITHOUT CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY OTHERS WILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM TOO. I WENT TO SEVERAL INTERNET FORUMS AND MANY OTHERS HAVE STATED THIS PROBLEM. DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE ENGINE SHOWS REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT. ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AND NOT ABLE TO DRIVE OVER 10 MPH. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM ON GMC VEHICLES AND IN MY OPINION IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR WHEN ENGAGED. THERE WERE NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS AT BRAKING, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. IN ORDER TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP THE GEAR SELECTOR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR A SECOND OPINION. THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE SERVICE WARRANTY MILEAGE AND HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT SOME POINT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.

THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BATTERY SEVERAL TIMES AND THE ALTERNATOR WAS ALSO REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHO LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE ENGINE ELECTRICAL WIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER BATTERY DRAIN REPLACEMENT RECALL 02066. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

AFTER DRIVING FOR ABOUT 100 MILES, STOPPED FOR LUNCH. AFTER STOPPING FOR LUNCH, DROVE 2003 GMC YUKON WITH ONLY 54,000 MILES ON IT FOR ANOTHER 20 MILES ON COUNTRY HIGHWAY AT 55MPH. STEPPED ON BRAKES TO SLOW-DOWN FOR SLOWER TRAFFIC, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. THE YUKON WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN BEFORE HITTING THE SLOWER TRAFFIC. DROVE ABOUT ANOTHER 50 MILES TO NEAREST CHEVROLET/GMC DEALER, NEEDING TO USE FULL BRAKE PEDAL TRAVEL TO SLOW-DOWN THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON EVERYTIME THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALERSHIP INVESTIGATED THE FAILURE. THE REAR BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BURST. THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REMOVED TO REPLACE REAR BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK. THE TRUCK HAD TO BE LEFT OVERNIGHT AT A DEALERSHIP 100 MILES FROM FINAL DESTINATION TO HAVE THE LINES REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY HELPFUL IN COMPLETING THE REPAIRS. ESTIMATED COST FROM THE DEALER FOR THE REPAIRS WAS $400 - $800. THE BRAKE LINE FAILED WITH NO WARNING. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 62,295.
RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER. RECALL WOULD ONLY BE COVERED IF INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FAILED OR WITHIN 7 YEARS OR 70,000 MILES. INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER FAILED EXACTLY AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL AT APPROX. 167,000 MILES. ONLY REASON WE KNOW IT FAILED WAS A SPEEDING TICKET WAS ISSUED FOR 58 MPH IN A 45 MPH ZONE. CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN AT 45 MPH. CERTIFIED GMC SERVICE CENTER CONFIRMED INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FAULTY. COST TO REPAIR WAS $515.62 PLUS COST OF SPEEDING TICKET. I FEEL GMC SHOULD COVER COST OF REPAIR. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY YUKON 2003 DENALI AND THE ERROR MESSAGE SHOWED UP "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". I WASN'T ABLE TO GET THE SPEED UP TO 30 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD SOMEONE COME PICK ME UP. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE, THE MESSAGE NO LONGER APPEARED AND IT FUNCTIONED AT NORMAL SPEEDS. I AM NERVOUS ABOUT TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE NOW. *TR
OFF AND ON SINCE LAST YEAR I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. JUST OUT OF THE BLUE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE "REDUCE ENGINE SPEED" MESSAGE WILL SHOW UP ON THE DASHBOARD. AND MY SPEED WILL SHUT DOWN AND THE VEHICLE WILL ONLY GO ABOUT 25MPH. WE HAD TAKEN IT IN TO A SHOP AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND THE ISSUE AND SAID IT WAS JUST A LOW BATTERY. WELL AFTER REPLACING THE BATTERY IT CONTINUES TO DO THIS OFF AND ON. ONCE THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED IT WOULD BE FINE UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT. NOW WHILE DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I HAVE READ THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. SOME PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS WHILE ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH. THE ENGINE WILL JUST REDUCE SPEED AUTOMATICALLY. WHY IS THIS NOT A RECALL FOR SAFETY REASONS? WHAT HAS TO BE DONE FOR THERE TO BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE?
ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT. MY WIFE HAD A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING MY DAUGHTER TO SCHOOL. BRAKE LINE OVER FRAME LEADING FRONT TO BACK FAILED AND COMPLETELY EMPTIED THE MASTER CYLINDER OF BRAKE FLUID, RESULT CAR WOULD NOT STOP. THIS MUST BE MADE INTO A RECALL, AS THE POSSIBILITY OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND LOSS OF LIFE IS VERY PROBABLE. *TR

THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN DRIVEN TO THE DEALER AND AS HE PARKED, ALL OF THE BRAKING FLUID LEAKED. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE BRAKE LINE AND NOTICED CORROSION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE LINE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WE CAME HOME FROM VACATION TO FIND OUR 2003 YUKON'S BATTERY DEAD. MY HUSBAND JUMPED IT AND TOOK IT FOR A RIDE. IT WOULDN'T RUN OVER 20 MPH. THE "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" LIGHT IS ON. HE SHUT IT OFF AND IT'S RUNNING OK RIGHT NOW. I CHECK OUT A COUPLE OF FORUMS ON THIS PROBLEM. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE ENDLESS NUMBERS OF CONSUMERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM COMING BACK EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE HAD IT SERVICED BY THE DEALER. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO COME WITHOUT ANY NOTICE TO THE DRIVER AND HAS ALMOST CAUSE ACCIDENTS. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE CLAIM TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY GOING THE SPEED LIMIT WHEN THEIR CAR SUDDENLY DROPS TO 20-30 MPH. GMC DOES NOT SEEM TO BE OVERLY CONCERNED WITH THIS PROBLEM AND HAS NO RECALLS ON IT. *TR
HELLO, WHEN IM DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE IT ALSO HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY. WHEN I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 3 OR 4 MIN AND RESTART IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN ABOUT 2 MILES DOWN THE ROAD. GMC SAYS THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT THEY DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO SEVERAL SHOPS AND THEY SAY THAT GM SAYS THE SAME THING ( WE KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR IT). 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500 SUDDEN BRAKE FAILURE. WHILE DECELERATING TO ENTER A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED. DUE TO LOW SPEED (<20 MPH) AT THE TIME, I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE USING THE PARKING BRAKE. HAD THIS OCCURRED MOMENTS EARLIER WHILE DECELERATING FROM THE FREEWAY INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION, THERE COULD HAVE BEEN FATALITIES. WHILE STOPPING, SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE FRONT AND LEFT WHEEL WELL OF THE VEHICLE. AFTER STOPPING, I EXAMINED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE METAL BRAKE LINE HAD RUPTURED WHERE IT CROSSES OVER THE FRAME RAIL LEADING TO THE FRONT LEFT BRAKE. THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID SPRAYED AROUND THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE BAY, AND THE EXHAUST HEADER WAS STILL SMOKING. LUCKILY THE EXHAUST HEADER TEMPERATURE WAS LOW ENOUGH TO AVOID IGNITION OF THE BRAKE FLUID AND INITIATION OF FIRE. A LARGE PORTION OF BRAKE FLUID IN THE MASTER BRAKE RESERVOIR HAD LEAKED OUT LEAVING A TRAIL OF FLUID BEHIND THE VEHICLE ALONG THE LEFT SIDE. AN EXTREME LEVEL OF CORROSION AND FLAKING METAL WAS EVIDENT ALONG ALL THE METAL BRAKES LINES FROM FRONT TO REAR. INCIDENTALLY, THE POWER STEERING LINES WERE IN SIMILAR CONDITION. THE BRAKE LINE WALL THICKNESS IN THE RUPTURE AREA WAS SO THIN THAT IT COULD BE BENT AND CRUSHED WITH PRESSURE APPLIED BY THUMBNAIL. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. BASED ON THE CONSISTENT AND EXCESSIVE CORROSION THROUGHOUT, I OPTED TO HAVE ALL THE BRAKE LINES AND POWER STEERING LINES REPLACED AT ONCE. BRAKES ARE THE MOST SAFETY CRITICAL DEVICE ON A MOVING VEHICLE AND MUST BE HELD TO HIGHER STANDARDS THAN ALMOST ANY OTHER COMPONENT. THE CONDITION OF THE BRAKE LINES AND RUPTURE OF A BRAKE LINE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS YEAR AND MILEAGE. I RECENTLY SOLD A 1994 SUBURBAN THAT HAD BRAKE LINES IN MUCH BETTER CONDITION THAN THIS 2003 YUKON. CLEARLY THERE IS A MANUFACTURING OR QUALITY DEFECT IN THE LINES INSTALLED ON THIS 2003 YUKON. I RESPECTFULLY REQUEST NHTSA TO REVIEW BRAKE LINE DEFECTS ON BEHALF OF ALL OWNERS. *KB
RANDOMLY, THE TRUCK WILL GO FROM DRIVING COMPLETELY NORMAL TO GETTING A MESSAGE SAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THEN IT CUTS OFF POWER. THIS HAS HAPPENED 10 TO 12 TIMES, THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED I COULD NOT DRIVE MORE THAN APPROX 35 MPH EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL FLOORED. WE HAVE REPLACED THE SUPPOSEDLY DEFECTIVE PART(S) TO NO AVAIL.
I WAS BACKING THE VEHICLE INTO THE GARAGE. WHILE MANEUVERING BACK AND FORTH I STEP ON THE BRAKE PETAL TO SHIFT BACK TO FORWARD. THE VEHICLE STOPPED THEN THE PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR BOARD ABRUPTLY. THE VEHICLE MOVED AND STUCK THE HOUSE. THE REAR BRAKE LINE HAD SPLIT OPEN AT THE ABS BRAKING VALVE. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES AT THE VALVE WERE SEVERELY ROTTED. HAD TO REPLACE ALL THE STEEL LINES TO MAKE THE VEHICLE SAFE.
