TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED INDICATORS ILLUMIANTED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY EXPERIENCED A LOSS IN ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOR A SPAN OF THREE YEARS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME FOR THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR WITH THIS VEHICLE. I FILED A COMPLAINT ( 10398842 ) WITH YOUR DEPARTMENT ON 05/03/2011. SINCE THAT DATE, WE DROVE THE VEHICLE TO DALLAS, TX FOR A CONVENTION WITH NO VEHICLE PROBLEMS. THEN ON JUNE 5TH, WE WERE RETURNING FROM HOUSTON WHEN THE VEHICLE WITHOUT ANY WARNING GAVE A MESSAGE THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO REDUCED POWER WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. WE HAD TO WORK OUR WAY TO A SAFE AREA TO PARK BECAUSE WE WERE A HAZARD TO OTHER DRIVERS. THIS AFTERNOON I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS TO GET SOME RESPONSE TO THIS PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD AGAIN THAT THE ENGINE WAS PROTECTING ITSELF FROM DAMAGE. AGAIN, I ASKED IF IT WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO PROTECT THE ENGINE THAN THE OCCUPANTS, THE REPRESENTATIVE WAS RATHER TESTY ABOUT THE ISSUE. THERE WAS NO RESPONSE WHEN I SAID THAT NO AUTOMOBILE IN AMERICA SHOULD SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC FOR A NON EMERGENCY. ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DRIVER LOOSES CONTROL OF THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DURING THE REDUCED POWER INTERVAL WHICH SHOWS THAT ALL GAUGES WERE NORMAL SO THERE WAS NO REASON TO EXPECT ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WAS AT 500 RPM AND WOULD NOT GAIN SPEED. THIS IS CAUSING US TO FEAR DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. IN ANY CASE, I CANNOT SEE ANY REASON FOR ANY VEHICLE ON THE AMERICAN ROADS TO BE UNDER THE CONTROL OF ITSELF WHILE IN TRAFFIC. THE PASSENGERS SHOULD BE THE PRIMARY CONCERN. I HOPE YOU CAN GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WITH THIS VEHICLE. IF THERE ISN'T A CURRENT RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM, SHOULD THERE BE? THIS IS A LOW MILEAGE WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL K1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING INACCURATELY AND REMAINED STUCK ON A SPECIFIC SPEED. SHE WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE HOW FAST OR SLOW SHE WAS TRAVELING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. IN MAY 2011, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND REPAIRED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT A SPECIAL POLICY BULLETIN WAS ISSUED; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE MILEAGE EXCEEDED THE LIMITATIONS AND DID NOT PERFORM ANY REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 141,000. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. UPDATED 09/15/11 *BF UPDATED 09/26/11
THIS VEHICLE DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THET THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING AT REDUCED POWER. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SLOWED TO IDLE SPEED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING ON A PUBLIC STREET. WE HAD BEEN PULLING A TRAVLE TRAILER JUST PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. THIS CREATED A POSSIBLE DANGER TO US AS WELL AS OTHER DRIVERS ON THE STREET SINCE WE COULD HARDLY GET THE VEHICLE TO POWER UP SO WE COULD GET OFF THE STREET. I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER IN BEAUMONT, TX. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS A COMMOM OPERATION TO PROTECT THE ENGING FROM DAMAGE AND THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD OCCURED WHILE WE WERE MOTORING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WITH THE TRAVEL TRAILER IN TOW? IF THERE IS A CHOICE BETWEEN PROTECTING THE ENGINE OR MY FAMILY, MY FAMILY COMES FIRST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE RESOLVED BEFORE DEATHS OCCUR FROM THIS PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO CHECKED THE FAILURE CODE. HE COULD NOT DETERMINE THE EXACT PROBLEM BUT HE CLEARED THE FAULT CODE P2135 FROM THE SYSTEM. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL THE TRAILER BACK HOME WITHOUT ANY MORE PROBLEMS. NO OTHER FAULT LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE RETURN TRIP. *TR
I WAS JUST DRIVING MY YUKON AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 100 MILES I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG BECAUSE WHEN I STOP AND TURN IT OFF THE SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT 40 MILES AND I DONT KNOW AT WHAT SPEED AM AT WHEN AM ON THE FREEWAY, I AS A MECHANIC SHOP AN THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD TO GO TO THE DEALER FOR THAT. *TR
GAS GAUGE DOES NOT CORRECTLY REFLECT WHAT IS IN THE TANK, HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS OR COME CLOSE QUITE A FEW TIMES DUE TO INCORRECT READINGS, IT WILL SHOW 1/2 FULL AND DROP RAPIDLY WITHIN MINUTES TO EMPTY. I'VE TAKEN IT IN THEY SAID IT WAS THE GAUGE CLUSTER IN THE DASH SO THEY REPLACED IT, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, TOOK IT BACK IN AND OF COURSE AT THAT TIME IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS AT THE DEALERSHIP IN REGARDS TO THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THEY ASSUME THE SENDING UNIT IS BAD AND WOULD REPLACE IT IF I PAID FOR IT, WHY THIS WASN'T DONE THE 1ST TIME UNDER WARRANTY IS BEYOND ME, BUT I'VE NOTICED ON THE NEWS THAT OTHER VEHICLES ARE HAVING SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND SEARCHING THE WEB I SEE I'M NOT ALONE. THEY NEED TO STEP UP AND FIX THE PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED WHEN CITED BY A POLICE OFFICER FOR SPEEDING. THE POLICE OFFICER ADVISED THAT THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH BUT THE SPEEDOMETER DISPLAYED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE SPEEDOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
KNOCKING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN; STEERING VERY LOOSE; SOMETIMES FEELS LIKE I LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR WHEN TURNING WHILE GOING OVER BUMPS IN ROAD. *TR
2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL HAD FRONT BREAK LINES BURTS WHILE DRIVING IN AUGUST 2010. IN FEB 2011 THE MAIN BRAKELINES TO THE REAR BURSTED. ALL LINES ARE METAL AND COMPLETELY CORRODED THRU. *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES ARE STICKING THE ODOMETER IS NOT WORKING AT ALL THE OIL GAUGE IS PINNED AND THE OTHER GAUGES ALSO STICK. THE ODOMETER AND OIL GAUGE IS ALL THE TIME AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM GM HAS INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL NOT HELP ME GET THIS VERY DANGEROUS DEFECT REPAIRED. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE PANEL CLUSTER NOT WEAR AND TEAR OR ANYTHING WE HAVE DONE. *TR
FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS I'VE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE STABILITY CONTROL / REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THE PROBLEM CAN OCCUR ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING OR EVEN AFTER IT HAS BEEN SITTING. I MUST STOP THE VEHICLE AND TURN IT OFF SEVERAL TIMES FOR IT TO RESET BEFORE I CAN CONTINUE. I'VE HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS AT THE DEALER, THEY CAN'T SEEM TO FIX THE PROBLEM. AFTER SEVERAL VISITS TO REPAIR SHOPS AND SPENDING NEARLY $2000 ON REPAIRS IT STILL HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO ADDRESSED AS A FAILURE AND DANGEROUS SITUATION BY G.M. THE VEHICLE IS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. *LN
WIFE WAS DRIVING TRUCK AT APPROX 30 MPH WHEN DIC ILLUMINATED WITH SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE. SHE THEN PRESSED THE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. SHE WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE WHICH WOULD NOT STOP FROM HITTING ANYTHING/ANYONE. ONLY AFTER PUMPING THE PEDAL DID THE TRUCK STOP. UPON INSPECTION THE BRAKE LINES HAVE ROTTED/CORRODED ALONG THE DRIVERS SIDE FRAME RAIL. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THE VEHICLE IS PARKED NOW, AND HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. *TR
"REDUCED ENGINE POWER/STALILITY CONTROL DISENGAGED" MESSAGE DISPLAYED, ENGINE WENT TO IDLE AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 5-10 MPH. TRAFFIC FROM BEHIND SERVED TO AVOID DECELERATING VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT IS SOMEWHAT COMMON WITH THESE GM MODELS. THE POSSIBILITY OF REAR END COLLISIONS MAY BE EXPERIENCED DUE TO RAPID DECELERATION DUE TO LOSS OF POWER. HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY AGAIN DURING THE DAY. IT CLEARS ITSELF AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS FOR A WHILE BUT THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. INFORMATION RECEIVED FORM VARIOUS FORUMS STATE IT IS BELIEVED TO BE WITHIN THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR.
MY HEATED SEATS STOPPED WORKING. WHEN MY TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP WITH MY MECHANIC I ASKED IF HE COULD LOOK AND SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. WHEN HE TOOK APART THE SEAT THE HEATING PAD WAS BURNT TO A CRISP. HE CALLED THE GM DEALER NEAR BY AND ASKED WHAT THE ISSUE COULD BE AND THEY SAID A SHORT IN THE HEATING PAD WIRE. THIS PART OBVIOUSLY CAUGHT FIRE IN MY VEHICLE. I CALLED GM CORPORATE TODAY AND THEY SAID SINCE THE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE AT GM THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO FOR ME. MY CAR COULD HAVE COMPLETED CAUGHT FIRE WITH MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER IN IT. JUST BECAUSE THE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE THERE BUT THE PARTS WERE BOUGHT AT THE GM DEALER THEY WONT REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR. THIS IS NOT A RECALL ITEM FROM WHAT I CAN SEE ONLINE. *TR
REDUCED ENGINE SPEED WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND DROPS TRUCK TO AN IDLE. I FEEL THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC AND ON HIGHWAYS. MY MECHANIC HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE PROBLEM. ALL FORUMS AND ONLINE HELP HAS BROUGHT ME TO DEAD ENDS. THIS IS MY LAST RESORT, I BELIEVE GM KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND AM HOPING THEY WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY HURT OR KILLED FROM THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL EQUIPPED WITH ORIGINAL SIGMA STAMPEDE RADIAL TIRES, SIZE P265/70/R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD AND BELT CAUSED THE TIRE TO EXPLODE. THE DEALER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WHEN CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.
THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL - ONLY WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE LEFT FRONT HUB AND BEARING FOR $550. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. SEVERAL DAYS AGO I WAS GOING TO PUT SOME ITEMS IN THE BACK END. AFTER RAISING THE REAR HATCH GLASS, I HEARD A POPPING NOISE. I COULDN'T TELL WHERE IT CAME FROM AT FIRST, BUT WHEN I TRIED TO SHUT THE REAR GLASS, THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GLASS JUST POPPED UP. AFTER LOOKING AT IT CLOSELY I COULD SEE THAT THE GLASS WAS SEPARATED FROM THE RIGHT HINGE. I HAD TO PULL THE GLASS DOWN BY HAND AND ALIGN IT WHILE TRYING TO SHUT THE GLASS. MY VEHICLE IS A 2003 MODEL WITH 55,000 MILES. IT IS A SECOND VEHICLE AND STAYS GARAGED MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE A 1996 TAHOE I USE FOR HAULING AND ODD JOBS. I HAVE PROBABLY OPENED THE REAR GLASS ON THE 2003 YUKON NO MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES IN THE YEARS THAT I HAVE HAD IT I USUALLY OPEN THE ENTIRE HATCH. GM STATES THAT THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A DEFECT AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY WARRANTY. UPON CHECKING ON LINE APPARENTLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE REPAIR COSTS APPROXIMATELY $1000.00. IF THIS GLASS BLOWS OUT OR FALLS OFF WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC, SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY INJURED NOT ONLY FROM THE WEIGHT OF THE GLASS BUT FROM FLYING GLASS AND DEBRIS./ THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT AGAIN GM IS IGNORING UNTIL SOMEONE IS INJURED AND THEY ARE SUED. *TR
2003 YUKON DENALI. REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE, HIGHWAY AND OR STREET. NO MATTER WHAT THE SPEED WITHOUT WARNING THE POWER SHUTS DOWN AND YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO TRY TO GET THE SIDE AND TURN OFF THE KEY AND LET IT SIT. THEN TRY AGAIN. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP SIX TIMES OVER THE PAST THREE MONTHS STILL NOT REPAIRED AND ONGOING HAZARD TO ME AND WHOEVER IS IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME OR BEHIND ME. HELP PLEASE! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER GAUGES WOULD EITHER BECOME STUCK OR WOULD FLICKER BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN READINGS. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
WHEN TRAVELING AT ANY RATE OF SPEED, THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT COMES ON AT I LOSE ALL POWER. I MUST TRY AND PULL OVER AT A SAFE PLACE, STOP THE CAR, TURN OFF IGNITION AND WAIT 10-15 SECOND BEFORE STARTING AND JUST HOPE IT WILL RETURN TO NORMAL MODE. THIS CAN HAPPEN MANY TIMES IN ONE DAY AND THEN IT MAY NOT HAPPEN AT ALL FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. VERY DANGEROUS! I HAVE BEEN DRIVING 70 MPH AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY TRY AND PULL OVER OUT OF SPEEDING TRAFFIC, ONTO A SHOULDER AND STOP MY CAR WITH MY CHILDREN. *TR
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING IN CAR OVER A BRIDGE IN NEW YORK CITY. I HAD BEEN ROUTINELY DRIVING THE CAR FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. WHEN I WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES IN TRAFFIC, MY FOOT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR. REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO BRAKE CAUSED THE SAME TO OCCUR. NEARLY MISSED A MAJOR REAR END COLLISION WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND POSSIBLE INJURIES BY DROPPING THE TRANSMISSION INTO THE LOWEST GEAR AND SLAMMING ON THE PARKING BRAKE. DEALER SAYS MY ENTIRE BRAKE LINES ARE CORRODED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
THE RIGHT HINGE OF THE REAR LIFT GLASS ON MY 2003 GMC YUKON FAILED CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEREBY THE REAR GLASS COULD BLOW OUT, OR OTHERWISE FALL OFF THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER TOLD ME THE ENTIRE REAR LIFT GLASS MODULE MUST BE REPLACED. *TR

REAR BRAKE LINE FAILURE. LINE WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. NOW (FEB 2012) ANOTHER LINE IS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID, THIS TIME IN THE FRONT PORTION OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
NO BRAKE PEDAL ALL BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED OUT REPLACED ALL BRAKE LINES. *TR
2003 YUKON BACK HATCH GLASS EXPLODED DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE GLASS WAS EVERY WHERE AND CUT MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACK SEAT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON A TRIP THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI FROZE ON 72 MPH. SPEEDOMETER REMAINED STUCK ON 72 MPH FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS, STILL SHOWING 72 MPH EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT WHENEVER POSSIBLE FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS. EACH TIME AFTER I WOULD RESTART THE VEHICLE THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD DROP SLIGHTLY (ABOUT 5 - 10 MPH AT A TIME) TILL IT REACHED 36MPH, THEN IT WOULD NOT DROP ANY LOWER. SPEEDOMETER REMAINED STUCK ON 36 MPH FOR 2 DAYS. I EVENTUALLY DISCONNECTED THE VEHICLES BATTERY FOR APPROX. 30 MINUTES. AFTER RECONNECTING BATTERY SPEEDOMETER APPEARED TO CORRECT ITSELF. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY WITH NO PRIOR WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND HAD IT TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALTHOUGH NOT CERTAIN, THE FUEL TANK COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. IN JANUARY 2010, THE DEALER REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 115,000.

RECALL FOR THE SPEEDOMETER IN 2003/2004 THE THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2003/2004 FOR THE SPEEDOMETER AND WHEN I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM I SHOWED THE RECALL LETTER AND THEY SAID THEY ONLY COULD CHANGE IT IF THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM. PAST 7 YEARS AND LESS THAN 70,000 MILES THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING WHEN I PARKED MY CAR. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET FIXED AND THEY CHARGE ME FOR IT, BECAUSE IT HAS PASSED 7 YEARS AND THE WARRANTY FOR THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM BEFORE THEY KNEW IT THAT SOONER OR LATER WE WOULD HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. VEHICLE STALLS WHILE IN MOTION. FIGURED OUT IT MAY BE RUNNING OUT OF GAS DUE TO THE GAUGE NOT WORKING. NOW, IT STALLS WHEN IT ONLY HAS A HALF A TANK OF GAS, NOT COMPLETELY EMPTY. PUT 16 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE 30 GALLON TANK, TRUCK RUNS SMOOTH. REPLACED THE FUEL FILTER TWICE. REPLACED THE BATTERY, TESTED THE ALTERNATOR, RESULTS NO ALT. PROBLEM. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON, SPEEDOMETER IS OFF, GAS GAUGE IS OFF, AND THE REAR VIEW MIRROR DISPLAY LIGHTS GO ON AND OFF ERRATICALLY. BIGGEST PROBLEM IS WHEN I BREAK THE TRUCK WILL SHUT OFF. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE NOV. 2010, WHEN WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND QUIT USING A CERTAIN TYPE OF GAS IT SEEMED TO BE FINE. NOW, IT IS ACTING UP AND TODAY WAS THE FIRST INCIDENT SINCE EARLY DECEMBER. *TR

THE TAIL GATE AND THE TAIL GATE WINDOW WERE JAMMED SHUT AND WOULD NOT RELEASE FROM THE INTERIOR OR EXTERIOR LATCHES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE KEYLESS REMOTE ALSO FAILED TO OPEN THE TAIL GATE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED SINCE THERE WAS NO MANUAL RELEASE ON THE TAILGATE IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH OR ANY INCIDENT WHERE PASSENGERS WOULD HAVE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 175,000.

BURNING SMELL IN 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. EVENTUALLY FOUND CHILD'S VELOUR CAR SEAT SMOLDERING AT BASE WITH HOLES BURNED THROUGH THE LEATHER HEATED SEAT. CHILD HAD TOUCHED CONTROL WITH FOOT AND TURNED HEATED SEAT ON. WHEN DISCOVERED, THE CAR SEAT AND LEATHER SEATS WERE BEGINNING TO SMOKE.....COULD HAVE BEEN A TRAGEDY. *TR
WHEN THE TOP RIGHT HINGE BROKE AWAY FROM THE GLASS ON THE REAR DOOR OF MY 2003 YUKON DENALI (~50,000 MI.), AND AFTER DISCUSSING IT WITH MY DEALER, I THOUGHT IT WAS AN ISOLATED CASE. THE RESULTING TWISTING OF THE MISALIGNED WINDOW HAS CAUSED THE LEFT HINGE BOND TO PARTIALLY CRACK AND SEPARATE AS WELL. MY VEHICLE IS GARAGED 90+% OF THE TIME AND I SELDOM USED THE REAR WINDOW. CURRENTLY, THE ONLY THING HOLDING THIS WINDOW TO THE VEHICLE IS THE DOOR LOCK AND ONE PARTIAL (LEFT) HINGE. IT IS A DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. MY DEALER WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING, OTHER THAN REPLACE THE ENTIRE BACK DOOR AT $1,000. MY INSURANCE COMPANY WOULDN'T EITHER SAYING THERE WAS NO BROKEN GLASS. I WAS ABOUT TO GET ITT REPAIRED, WHEN I LEARNED FROM ANOTHER OWNER OF 2 YUKON/SUBURBAN SUVS THAT THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THEIR VEHICLES AT ABOUT 100,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ONGOING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE. STARTING IN 2005, THE EXTERIOR ELECTRONICS (I.E. SIGNAL LIGHTS, STOP LIGHTS, HEAD LIGHTS, ETC) BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. FOR EXAMPLE, I WOULD TRIGGER THE SIGNAL FOR ONE DIRECTION AND ALL OF THE SIGNALS FOR ALL DIRECTIONS WOULD TRIGGER... EVEN PRESSING THE BRAKES TRIGGERED ALL OF THE EXTERIOR SIGNALS. THE DEALER HAD A HARD TIME ISOLATING MY PROBLEM, BUT AFTER SEVERAL VISITS, THE DEALER WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND RECTIFY IT... THEY ISOLATED IT TO A JUNCTION BOX WHERE ALL OF THE ELECTRONICS TERMINATE. HOWEVER, BY THIS TIME, MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I HAD TO COVER THE COSTS FOR REPAIRING THE PROBLEM MYSELF. MY MOST RECENT ISSUES, WHICH, BY THE WAY, SEEM TO BE COMMON ISSUES, ARE TRIGGERED BY A MESSAGE STATING, "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE DOES NOT ALWAYS RENDER THE SAME RESULTS... SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE'S SPEED WILL SIGNIFICANTLY DECREASE TO NEARLY A HALT, BUT OTHER TIMES I MAY JUST EXPERIENCE INCREASED IDLING OF THE ENGINE, EVEN IF I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. MY UNDERSTANDING, ACCORDING TO HUNDREDS OF REPORTS THAT I HAVE READ ON THE MESSAGE BOARDS, IS THAT THIS ISSUE IS CAUSED BY EITHER A WIRING HARNESS THAT LEADS FROM THE ACCELERATOR TO THE THROTTLE BODY OR IT'S A DEFECTIVE THROTTLE BODY ALTOGETHER. I HAVE EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY WINDOWS AS WELL, BUT THIS APPEARS TO BE A MINOR ISSUE WHEN COMPARED TO THE OTHER TWO THAT I ADDRESSED ABOVE. I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON. AFTER HAVING A DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT BURN OUT, I REMOVED THE LENS AND FOUND SIGNIFICANT CHARRING OF THE LIGHT BULB SOCKET. IT WAS BURNT SO BAD THAT IT MOSTLY CRUMBLED AS I TRIED TO REMOVE THE OLD BULB. I TOOK OFF THE OTHER SIDE TO CHECK IT, AND THE CONDITION OF THE SOCKET WAS THE SAME. THUS, BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SOCKETS WERE BURNT. THE EXCESSIVE HEAT FROM THE BULB ALSO DISTORTED AND RUINED BOTH OF MY LENSES ON THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN REPORTED THAT THESE CARS HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH HEAT ON THESE LIGHT SOCKETS. I'M SHOCKED BY THIS, AND WONDER HOW MANY CAR FIRES HAVE RESULTED FROM THIS PROBLEM. *TR
