I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON, LAST YEAR THE INSTRUMENT DASH CLUSTER STARTED TO FAIL ALONG WITH A CONTINUOUS LOUD DINGING FROM THE WARNING BELL AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WOULD STOP WORKING ALONG WITH THE WINDOWS POWERING OFF, SHORTLY AFTER I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GMC DESCRIBING THIS EXACT DEFECT, RECENTLY I CONTACTED GMC REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND WAS GREETED BY A CALL CENTER IN THE PHILIPPINES, THE MAN TOLD ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A GMC DEALERSHIP AND THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE ISSUE, AFTER I GOT THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND STARTED DIAGNOSTICS I CALLED BACK TO LET THEM KNOW AND THEY THEN INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE SERVICE. I WAS OUTRAGED THAT THEY HAD ACTUALLY PULLED A BAIT AND SWITCH ON A REPAIR???, AFTER BEING LEFT ON HOLD FOR OVER AN HOUR WHILE THE "CUSTOMER SERVICE REP" TRIED TO FIND A SUPERVISOR SO THEY COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO, HE FINALLY GOT BACK ON THE PHONE AND SAID I WOULD HAVE TO KEEP HOLDING, I THEN DEMANDED TO SPEAK TO A GMC REPRESENTATIVE IN THE STATES, WHILE ON HOLD FOR ANOTHER HALF HOUR HE RETURNED AND SAID I WOULD BE CONTACTED IN 24 HOURS BY A USA REP. AFTER THREE HOURS WAITING FOR MY CAR IT WAS FINALLY RELEASED TO ME FREE OF CHARGE, ( FOR THE DIAGNOSTICS) BUT STILL NOT FIXED. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM AN AMERICAN GMC REP, A FEW DAYS LATER AND WHILE THEY DANCED AROUND THE ISSUE AND WHO SHOULD FIX IT, THEY KEPT CALLING ME BACK TO SEE IF I FOUND A DEALERSHIP TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED, I TRIED TWO DEALERSHIPS AND BOTH INDICATED THEY DID NOT WANT TO HELP, I AM NOW STUCK WITH WHAT IS A DANGEROUS DEFECT ON MY $30,000 DOLLAR FAMILY CAR! I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR IT'S SAFETY AND COMFORT AND NOW I'M AFRAID FOR MY FAMILY TO RIDE IN IT, CAN'T TRADE IT IN, CAN'T SELL IT AND NO ONE WILL FIX THIS RE-CALL ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON AND THE ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE (ECBM) HAS FAILED. THE ECBM IS THE FEATURE THAT CONTROLS THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ON CARS AND TRUCKS. WITHOUT THE ECBM WORKING, A CAR/TRUCK WILL NOT HAVE ABS BRAKING, WHICH IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR STOPPING AND BRAKING, ESPECIALLY SINCE ALL NEW CARS HAVE THIS FEATURE AND MOST PEOPLE DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DRIVE OTHERWISE. I DID SOME INTERNET RESEARCH AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GMC AND ALL GENERAL MOTORS TRUCKS FROM 2000 TO 2003 AND OTHER MODEL YEARS. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO HAVE HAD THIS EBCM FAIL ON THEM. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR THIS PART AND FURTHER THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART IS $1,000, EXCLUDING LABOR. THIS EXORBITANT CHARGE IS COST PROHIBITIVE TO MOST PEOPLE AND IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT IS A CRITICAL SAFETY FEATURE. I FEEL LIKE THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED AT NO COST TO CONSUMERS. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE AND IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM, WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE IT IS A FACTORY DEFECT. *TR
2003 YUKON XL- REAR WINDOW FELL OFF AN SHATTERED WHILE DRIVING THOUGH CITY TRAFFIC AT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING 75 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN SHE HEARD A "DING" AND THE INFORMATION CENTER SAID "SERVICE STABILITY" "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" IT THEN TOOK ALL ENGINE POWER FROM THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY CAUSING IT TO SLOW TO A VERY UNSAFE 20 MPH ALMOST INSTANTLY AND CAUSED HER TO NARROWLY AVOID BEING HIT FROM BEHIND. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND WERE TOLD WE NEEDED A NEW THROTTLE BODY CABLE WHICH WE BOUGHT AND HAD THEM INSTALL, BUT THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER GONE AWAY. I HAVE READ MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET BUT AFTER YEARS OF COMPLAINING NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? IT CERTAINLY SEEMS LIKE IT. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE GOVERNMENT SEVERAL YEARS AGO ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND I AM SURE MANY OTHERS HAVE AS WELL. NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN DONE. TO CAP IT OFF, AND THE REASON I AM ON THIS AGAIN, IS BECAUSE THIS PAST WEEKEND I RENTED A BUICK ENCLAVE FROM BUDGET RENTAL CARS IN LITTLE ROCK ARKANSAS. THIS WAS A NEW VEHICLE THAT HAD ONLY 5 MILES ON IT WHEN I LEFT THE LOT. AT AROUND 65 MILES LATER THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME EXACT THING, AND REDUCED MY SPEED TO 25 WITH AN 18 WHEELER BEHIND ME THAT HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME AS I SWERVED TO THE SHOULDER TO GET OUT OF THE WAY. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED!!! *TR
THE AIR CONDITIONER SWITCHES TO HEAT WHILE DRIVING. *JS
I OWN A 2003 YUKON XL. PURCHASED 4 MICHELIN TIRES FROM NTB IN APRIL 2007, $700.00. NEW TIRES HAVE 18,000 MILES ON THEM. JAN 2009 VALVE STEM FAILED AND WAS REPLACED BY NTB, NO DAMAGE TO TIRE. MAY 2009, SECOND TIRE WENT FLAT DOING 70 MILES AN HOUR WITH MY KIDS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY HOME FROM COLLEGE. TIRE WENT FLAT, IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TIRE WAS DAMAGED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED, $225.00. CAUSE OF DAMAGE WAS VALVE STEM, TR 413. ONE WEEK LATER, THIRD TIRE WENT FLAT GOING BACK TO COLLEGE. IMMEDIATELY PULLED OFF OF HIGHWAY. MICHELIN TIRE ALSO RUINED, CRUSHED SIDE WALL, ANOTHER $225.00. WENT BACK TO NTB AND COMPLAINED. AT MY REQUEST INSPECTED 4TH TIRE AND IT HAD A BAD STEM AND WAS LEAKING. ALL STEMS WERE THE TR-413 AND NOT A HIGH PRESSURE STEM. THIS STEM IS FOR UP TO 40 PSI. RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE IS 35 PSI, BUT AT HIGH SPEEDS AND IN HOT TEXAS, PRESSURE FOR SURE RISES ABOVE THE MINIMUM 40 PSI. ORIGINAL SPARE HAS HIGH PRESSURE VALVE STEM. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED. NOW I FOUND OUT THAT THESE STEMS ARE ON RECALL AND DEFECTIVE. NTB WAS NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING AND THEY ARE THE EXPERTS. HELP ME!! *TR
2003 GMC YUKON XL SPEEDOMETER HANGS OR GOES 40 OR 50 MILES PER HOUR FASTER THAN ACTUAL SPEED. GM WANTS >$400 (TOO MUCH MONEY) TO REPAIR OCCURS ON MOST OF THEIR TRUCK AND SUVS. MINE HAS 90,000 MILE. THEY PROVIDED DEFECTIVE STEPPER MOTORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ARE PROFITING FROM THE REPAIR. GAUGE SEEMS TO FAIL ON LONG TRIPS AND THEN WILL EVENTUALLY START WORKING AGAIN. NEVER CAN TELL IF IT IS REALLY WORKING. *TR
SPEEDOMETER HAS QUIT WORKING. WE HAD AN 2004 IMPALA THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SPEEDOMETER, THOUGHT THERE MIGHT BE ON THIS ONE ALSO. *TR
TAKING OFF FROM A STOP OR ACCELERATING FROM A LOW SPEED THE TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGE COMES ON AND VEHICLE LOOSES POWER. HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES EVERYTIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 10 THAT HAVE BEEN WITH ME WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I FEAR WE WILL BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS POWER TRAIN FAILURE. DEALER CLAIMS THERE IS NO PROBLEM OR ERROR CODES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL 1500. THE CONTACT STARTED THE VEHICLE, ACTIVATED THE HEATER, AND CLOSED THE DOOR. HE STEPPED AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE AND, UPON RETURNING, HE NOTICED A FIVE INCH HOLE IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AND DOOR AND THE GLASS SHATTERED IN HIS WIFE'S FACE. THE FAILURE HAS ONLY OCCURRED ONCE, BUT THE CONTACT BELIEVES IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE A SEVERE INJURY COULD HAVE RESULTED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 97,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES FAILED. THE GAUGES REMAIN AT ZERO WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, BUT THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE EXCEEDED THE 70,000 MILE REQUIREMENT TO REPAIR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,500. UPDATED 02-26-09 *BF UPDATED 02/26/09. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON WET ROAD CONDITIONS; APPROACHING A TRAFFIC STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WITH PRESSURE APPLIED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND CRASHED INTO A POLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND BODY. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF A POLICE REPORT FILED FOR THE INCIDENT. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DID NOT INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEFECT WAS RELATED TO A MANUFACTURER INVESTIGATION ACTION NUMBER PE10010 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC: POWER ASSIST: HYDRAULIC: HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 70,005. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
DECEMBER 2008- INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT OUT- SPEEDOMETER NO LONGER WORKING DECEMBER 2008- BATTERY GAUGE NO LONGER WORKING MARCH 2009- STABILITRAK ISSUES...SOMETIMES THE STABILITRAK WOULD WORK AND AT TIMES IT WOULD NOT WORK JULY 2009 TO JANUARY 2010- REDUCED ENGINE POWER (ALMOST CAUSE 2 WRECKS) COULD NOT PERFORM A DIAGNOSIS...COULD NOT READ COMPUTER. CHANGED FUEL PUMP. NO MORE REDUCED ENGINE POWER MESSAGE AUGUST 2011- WHEEL BEARING ISSUES. REDUCED ENGINE POWER (ALMOST CAUSED WRECK...BACKED UP TRAFFIC) SEPTEMBER 2011- GAS PEDAL STICKING NOVEMBER 2011- REDUCED ENGINE POWER...HAPPENS 5 TIMES WITHIN A 30 MILE TRIP. ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES, BUT RUNNING OUT OF OPTIONS. HAVE TO KILL CAR IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY OR INTERSECTION TO GET CAR TO WORK PROPERLY. *TR
FUEL GAUGE ON 2003 YUKON WILL SHOW EMPTY THEN FULL RANDOMLY AND AFTER FUEL IS ADDED RANDOMLY (YUKON IS ON LEVEL GROUND). GAUGE ALSO STICKS. JANUARY 3, 2008, I TOOK THE YUKON TO THE DEALER. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE. IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN DECEMBER 2, 2008. *TR
REAR HEATER NOT WORKING. ON JULY 25, 2006, THE DEALER REPLACED:" COMPRESSOR ASSEMBLY-REPLACE SENSOR, INSIDE AIR TEMPERATURE-REPLACE, CASE, AUXILIARY HEATER ONE PIECE-REPLACE" AT 38,371 MILES. TODAY, I RETURNED TO THE DEALER. REAR A/C IS WORKING BUT NO HEAT THROUGH THE REAR HEATER. THEY REPLACED THE ACTUATOR, BUT THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THEY PUT THE ORIGINAL ACTUATOR BACK AND STATED A REAR CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE ORDERED. NOW THE CONSOLE LIGHTS ON THE REAR HVAC DIALS DO NOT ILLUMINATE. I AM AWAITING THE PART. *TR
LEFT TURN SIGNAL: WHEN SIGNALING LEFT, THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS (ARROWS) ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DISPLAY BOTH ARROWS (LEFT AND RIGHT) AS THOUGH THE HAZARD BUTTON HAS BEEN USED. TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY INDICATED IT WAS THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH. THEY REPLACED THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH AT MY EXPENSE (301.23 PLUS 42.50 TO DIAGNOSE). TEN MINUTES DOWN THE ROAD FOR A LANE CHANGE TO THE LEFT, I SIGNALED AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED (BOTH ARROWS FLASHING). I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE CARS AROUND ME SEE IN REGARDS TO MY LIGHTS. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE DEALER. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS ERRATIC AND BECOMES STUCK AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE DIAL WOULD DROP DOWN TO 0 MPH AND DISPLAYS INACCURATE SPEEDS. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE (RECALL NUMBER 07187) FROM GMC, WHICH STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS SEVEN YEARS OR 70,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS OVER 70,000 MILES; HOWEVER, NO FAILURES WERE OCCURRING AT THE TIME THE RECALL NOTICE WAS RECEIVED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.
SINCE NOVEMBER 2008, MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL 2500 HAS HAD EPISODES WHERE THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. IN THIS REDUCED POWER MODE, THE VEHICLE WILL REACH A TOP SPEED OF AROUND 25MPH. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO NUMEROUS GM DEALERS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND THEY HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLE AND WIRING HARNESS MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE PROBLEM KEEPS RECURRING. I HAVE BOUGHT A SCANNER WHICH I CAN ERASE THE CODES BECAUSE IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO BE DRIVING 65MPH WITH SEMITRUCKS ON YOUR TAIL WHEN YOU SUDDENLY FOR NO REASON LOSE POWER AND CAN'T GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY CLOSE EPISODES WHERE WE WERE ALMOST IN AN ACCIDENT. AFTER THE THROTTLE BODY WAS REPLACED IN DEC 08, THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER DIDN'T COME BACK UNTIL APRIL 2009. DEALER THEN REWIRED THE HARNESS AND IT STOPPED UNTIL THE FALL OF 2009. SINCE FALL 2009, THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER MODE COME ON SPORADICALLY. IN FEBRUARY 2010, THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED, BUT NOW THE TRUCK STALLS WHEN THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER IS ENABLED. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS DURING THE STALL, ALL POWER STEERING AND BRAKING IS LOST. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, TURNING, CROSSING TRAFFIC, AND THE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRUCK STALLS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN THE GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT FOR THE LAST 3 WEEKS. EVERYTIME THEY SAY IT HAS TO BE THE THROTTLE BODY, THEY REPLACE IT, I BRING IT HOME AND A COUPLE DAYS LATER WE ARE BACK TO REDUCED ENGINE POWER WITH SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS. TROUBLE CODES ARE P2135, P0120, P1515, AND P0220. I HAVE SPENT NEARLY $2000 ON SERVICE THAT HAS NOT RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. I HAVE READ ONLINE MANY OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS TRUCK IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE NOW THAT IT STALLS EVERY TIME IT GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE (WHICH HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES ON EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT). *TR
SPEEDOMETER ON 2003 YUKON FAILS. GMC WILL NOT STAND BEHIND IT EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A WEBSITE WWW.SPEEDOMETERSETTLEMENT.COM THAT GIVES VAGUE DETAILS. WAS TOLD BY GM THAT MILEAGE TOO GREAT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THEIR SPEEDOMETERS AS EVIDENCED BY THE WEB SITE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE READ INCORRECTLY OR NOT ALL . INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. THE ISSUE COMES ON GRADUALLY SO THERE IS A PERIOD OF TIME WITH THE SPEEDOMETER YOU REALLY DOT NOT KNOW HOW FAST YOU ARE TRAVELING. WITH SOME SIMPLE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ACROSS GM LINE. *TR
DASH LIGHTS DON'T WORK BY HEATER LIGHTS. NEEDS A NEW CLUSTER AND CONTROL REPLACED. *TR
SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING CORRECTLY, CLUSTER IS MALFUNCTIONING . ALSO, BOTH HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONER BOXES (FRONT AND BACK) ARE NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. VENTS ARE NOT OPENING AND ARE CLICKING,SO THE DEFROSTER ISN'T WORKING. CD PLAYER IS NOT WORKING . ALL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. *TR
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE TO A NORMAL STOP AT AN INTERSECTION AFTER EXITING I-10 EAST AT PASCAGOULA, MS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR, THE BRAKE FAILURE AND ABS BRAKE FAILURE ALARMS CAME ON BOTH AUDIBLY AND VISUALLY. UPON RELEASING AND REAPPLYING THE BRAKES, I FOUND I HAD SUFFICIENT BRAKE FUNCTION TO STOP FROM THE RELATIVELY LOW SPEED IN A LONGER THAN NORMAL BUT REASONABLE DISTANCE. I THEN PULLED INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND STARTED SEARCHING THE YELLOW PAGES FOR THE NEAREST GMC OR CHEVROLET DEALER AS I WAS 160 MI FROM HOME AND NEEDED IMMEDIATE REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALL SEVERELY CORRODED AND THAT ONE OR BOTH OF THE LINES GOING TO THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD STARTED LEAKING. THEY REPLACED THE LINES AND ATTEMPTED TO BLEED THE BRAKES BUT THEY WERE NOT TOTALLY SUCCESSFUL DUE TO A COMBINATION OF THE SOPHISTOCATION OF THE ABS SYSTEM AND THE INEXPERIENCE OF THE MECHANIC ON DUTY AT THE TIME. AFTER I RETURNED HOME, I WAS ABLE TO FIND A MORE COMPETENT REPAIR FACILITY AT 47,780 MILES. THEY CONFIRMED THE SEVERE CORROSION OF THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM, INCLUDING THE BRAKE HOSES AND CALIPERS. THEY REPLACED AN ADDITIONAL LEFT FRONT BRAKE HOSE AND PROPERLY BLED THE BRAKES TO RESTORE TOTAL FUNCTION. THIS HELD UNTIL A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO WHEN I NOTICED FLUID LOSS FROM THE BRAKE RESERVOIR STARTING TO ACCELERATE. IT TOOK TWO MONTHS TO FIND A SHOP THAT WOULD DO THE WORK, BUT I NOW HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THIS WEEK TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT SHOP IN BATON ROUGE TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES, HOSES, ETC AS NEEDED. WHEN I HAD SEARCHED THE WEB FOR RECALLS, ETC, I NOTICED THAT THE NHTSA WAS STUDYING THIS SAME ISSUE, SO THAT IS WHY I'M FILING THIS CLAIM. THIS VEHICLE WAS SOLD AND OPERATED IN NEW JERSEY FOR 36,000 MILES UNTIL APRIL 08 AND HAS BEEN IN LOUISIANA SINCE THEN WITH APPROXIMATELY 85000 TOTAL MILES. LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.
PARKING BRAKE INEFFECTIVE. DOES NOT HOLD / STOP VEHICLE. FAILED AT APPROXIMATELY 70-90K MILES. NOTICED SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN DATABASE. REPAIRS HAVE NOT BEEN MADE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE YUKON JUST SHUT DOWN AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. GOT TO SHOULDER OF ROAD, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN OF THE IGNITION AND STARTED IT RIGHT BACK UP. DID IT AGAIN, 15 MINUTES LATER - SAME RESULTS. THE NEXT 7 TIMES, THE CAR AT LOW SPEED (15-20 MPH) STARTED ACTING LIKE IT WASN'T GETTING GAS AND RUNNING ROUGH, NOT PULLING. PULLED OF ROAD. WOULD TURN OVER AND TRY TO START AND IF IT STARTED, WAS VERY ROUGH. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES, THE YUKON STARTED LIKE NOTHING WAS WRONG AND WOULD RUN FOR 10-15 MINUTES. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME IN JUNE. TOOK TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. HAPPENED TO MY PARENTS IN 2006 IN THIS VEHICLE TRAVELING TO MISSISSIPPI. GMC DEALER COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. CURRENTLY THE DEALER WANTS TO CHANGE THE FUEL PUMP. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM HAVE REPLACED THE FUEL PUMP AND IT DOESN'T STOP HAPPENING. SPEEDOMETER JUST FAILED TOO. WONDER IF IT COULD BE AN ELECTRONICS/ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. *TR
MY VEHICLE IS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT REGISTERING, AND WHEN (THE GAUGE) IS TRYING TO OPERATE, THE VEHICLE HESITATES WHILE ACCELERATING AND THE GAUGE DOES THE SAME AS WELL AS THE GAS GAUGE. I KNOW ALL MY DASHBOARD GAUGES NEED TO BE CHECKED FOR MALFUNCTION. THIS BEGAN TWO WEEKS AGO, I CALLED DOUG HENRY OF FARMVILLE TO CHECK MY VEHICLE FOR RECALLS, ONLY TO FIND OUT IT IS NOT LISTED. MY HUSBAND HAS A 2003 GMC YUKON XL, HE RECEIVED A LETTER DESCRIBING THIS PROBLEM AND GOT INFORMATION TO GET IT FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. 2003 YUKON XL REAR GLASS HINGE (DRIVER'S SIDE) FAILED WHILE DRIVING. HEARD WHISTLING SOUND, DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS, STOPPED AT HOME DEPOT AND REAR GLASS HATCH WOULDN'T CLOSE AFTER I'D OPENED IT. HINGE ITSELF APPEARS TO BE INTACT, JUST DEBONDED/DEWELDED FROM THE GLASS. GM WANTS $1100 TO REPLACE WITH A DIFFERENT WINDOW- THE ORIGINAL DESIGN LIKE THE ONE THAT FAILED HAS BEEN 'IMPROVED UPON' AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. WHAT'S FUNNY IS THAT THERE'S A RECALL FOR SUBURBANS OF THE SAME YEAR, BUT NOT YUKON XLS EVEN THOUGH IT'S THE SAME PART... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. HE PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
I HAVE RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2003 GMC YUKON XL AND SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR I HAVE HAD SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH THE SPEED ODOMETER STICKING AT DIFFERENT MPH OR JUST NOT WORKING ALL THE WAY AROUND. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, TACHOMETER STOPPED WORKING. TACHOMETER WOULD EITHER SHOW 8,000 RPMS OR ZERO RPMS NO MATTER WHAT SPEED OR PAYLOAD WAS ON VEHICLE. *TR
DEFECT. RIGHT PASSENGER AIR BAG SIDE MODULE (FRONT SEAT) WAS DEFECTIVE AND REPLACED AT MY TOTAL COST OF $476.10 ON 4-20-07. THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR LIGHT ALERTED ME AROUND 4-2-08 THAT THE PROBLEM HAS RESURFACED (THE REPLACEMENT PART IS DEFECTIVE), AFTER ONLY 5,500 MILES OF VEHICLE USAGE. A PASSENGER IS IN THE SEAT FOR SOMEWHAT LESS THAN HALF OF THOSE MILES--A DEFECT AFTER LESS THAN A YEAR AND LESS THAN 2,300 MILES OF EQUIVALENT SERVICE. THE SPECIFIC NATURE OF THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED BY AN INDEPENDENT EXPERIENCED SERVICE TECHNICIAN. I SHOULD HAVE NEVER HAD THE FIRST PROBLEM, LET ALONE THE 2ND. *TR

WE PURCHASED OUR YUKON OUT OF THE SHOWROOM. IT HAS QUAD STEERING, A FEATURE WE PAID EXTRA WITH THIS VEHICLE. ABOUT A WEEK AFTER WE HAD THE VEHICLE, THE QUAD STEERING WOULD DROP OUT OF QUAD MODE AS INDICATED BY THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD, AS WELL AS THE FEEL OF THE DRIVE, AND ON OCCASION NOT LOCK INTO POSITION EITHER. THE WHEELS WOULD THEN TURN SIDEWAYS AND WE TEMPORARY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL WE PULL OVER TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE WHEELS IN ORDER TO LOCK THEM IN POSITION. WE'VE SINCE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT 5 OR 6 TIMES WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR ON MANY OCCASION, HOWEVER IT CONTINUES TO BE UNRELIABLE. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS VEHICLE IS GOING TO CRASH SOMEDAY BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM... OF WHICH IS UNEXPECTED AND DANGEROUS. AFTER GREAT CARE OF THIS VEHICLE, FAILURE OF THE QUAD FEATURE CONTINUES TO BE A SERIOUS UNRESOLVED DEFECT. SPEEDOMETER INDICATOR SETTLES AT VARIOUS PLACES WHEN STOPPED, AND INDICATE INACCURATE FORWARD TRAVEL SPEED. AS AN EXAMPLE, THE SPEEDO WILL INDICATE 90MPH WHEN ACTUALLY TRAVELING 55MPH. THE SETTLE POINT, AND RESULTING INDICATOR POSITION AT ANY SPEED IS RANDOM. I HAVE BEEN READING SEVERAL FORUMS ABOUT THE HIGH RATE OF THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IN GMC VEHICLES, AND FEEL THAT IT IS CERTAINLY A RECALL ITEM. *TR
I HAVE 2003 GMC YUKON WITH ONLY 43K THAT I BOUGHT BRAND NEW IN '03. THE PROBLEM IS ITS PREMATURE WEAR OF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILS ON AWD VERSIONS OF YUKON/DENALI MODELS. UNUSUAL FRONT DRIVELINE NOISE IS EXPERIENCED ESPECIALLY DURING LIGHT ACCELERATION OR LOAD. NOISE IS A WHINE TYPE OF LOAD. THIS ONE FAILED @ 54,000 CAUSING DEALER TO REBUILD FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WITH NEW BEARINGS AND SEALS. OLD BEARINGS WERE BADLY SCORED AND ONE OF THEM BROKEN TO MANY PIECES. I ASKED FOR PARTS AND WAS GIVEN WHAT COULD BE PULLED OUT. INTERNET SEARCH INDICATES MANY OWNERS WITH AWD SYSTEMS WHICH WERE ALSO AVAILABLE ON YUKON AS WELL AS DENALI MODELS HAVE HAD SIMILAR FAILURES. COST TO REPAIR AS WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 40,000 MILES WAS APPROX. $1000. *TR
I HAVE A GMC YUKON AND THE WHEEL BEARINGS IN BOTH SIDES HAVE WENT OUT. I HEARD THAT THE H2 HUMMER HAS A RECALL ON ITS WHEEL BEARING. HOW COME THE YUKON DOESN'T? I HEARD OF OTHER YUKONS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IS THIS A CHEVY PROBLEM? MY WHEEL ALMOST CAME OFF OF MY VEHICLE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
