I WAS DRIVING MY DAUGHTER HOME FROM TUTORING WHEN I REALIZED THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. I HAPPENED TO BE ON THE INTERSTATE AT THE TIME SO I KEPT UP WITH THE OTHER CARS, BUT GOING DOWN THE STREETS TO OUR HOUSE IN THE DARK MADE ME UNCOMFORTABLE. SOMETIMES IT STICKS AT ZERO AND OTHER TIMES IT MAXS OUT AT 120 MPH. THE DEALER I CALLED SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND WOULD COST ABOUT $600+ TO FIX AND ALSO IT WOULD TAKE A FEW DAYS. *NM
THE SPEEDOMETER INCORRECTLY READS THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING 20 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS 70MPH. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SITTING STILL THE SPEEDOMETER IS ON 35MPH. GM DEALER THINKS THE PROBLEM IS THE GAUGE CLUSTER AND RECOMMENDS IT TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $400. THIS GAUGE CLUSTER HAS BEEN REPLACED IN THE PAST UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO INCORRECT FUEL LEVELS. *NM

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE SPEEDOMETER GAUGE STOPPED FUNCTIONING WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2003 GMC YUKON KEEPS STICKING. READS 100 WHEN I'M ONLY DOING 30. *NM
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON WITH APPROX. 89,000 MILES. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN ACTING ERRATIC. SHOWING 60 MPH WHEN STOPPED. *JB
SPEEDOMETER READS INCORRECTLY IT JUST SITS AT ZERO,EVEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VERY ERRATIC NEEDLE MOVEMENT. *NM
I HAVE A 2003 YUKON WITH 70000 MILES. MY SPEEDOMETER HAS BECOME VERY ERRATIC. AT A FULL STOP IT READS ANYWHERE FROM 15 TO 70 MPH. WHEN DRIVING IT FREQUENTLY EXCEEDS THE 120 MPH MAXIMUM LIMIT EVEN THOUGH I AM TRAVELING WITH THE FLOW OF NORMAL TRAFFIC. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH GM SUVS AND TRUCKS MANUFACTURED IN THE 2003/2004 TIME FRAME. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE AS NOT RELIABLY KNOWING YOUR SPEED CAN AND WILL CAUSE TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS. THE GMC DEALER SAYS THE SOLUTION IS TO REMOVE THE EXISTING INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) AND TO INSTALL A NEW OR RECONDITIONED ONE AT A COST OF OVER $700.00. *JB
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON XL DENALI THAT HAS A FAULTY SPEEDOMETER; DOESN'T WORK, OR WORKS ERRATICALLY, READS ZERO WHEN DOING 60. IF YOU TURN THE ENGINE OFF IT SEEMS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, BUT ONLY BRIEFLY. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THAT I'VE SEEN REGARDING THIS PROBLEM, I TRULY BELIEVE GM SHOULD RECALL THIS IN THE INTERESTS OF SAFETY. *NM

ON MY 2003 YUKON XL, THE SPEEDOMETER EXHIBITING STRANGE BEHAVIOR SUCH AS INDICATING 120 MPH AT A STOP SIGN ETC. LOWEST SPEED IS 90 MPH WHEN CAR IS IN PARK. *JB
SPEEDOMETER ACTING ERRATIC, NOT READING CORRECTLY, OR AT ALL, ON MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL DENALI. READS SLOWER THAN ACTUALLY TRAVELING, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT SITS AT ZERO. *JB
SPEEDOMETER ACTING ERRATICALLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED, THE SPEEDOMETER READS ANYWHERE FROM 30 - 80 MPH. THEN WHEN DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER GOES PAST 120 MPH WHILE DRIVING 30 - 50 MPH. BASICALLY, DOES NOTHING BUT CONFUSES THE DRIVER AND I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT IT IS NOT TRACKING THE MILEAGE ON THE ODOMETER AS IF YOU WERE TRAVELING AT THE 120 MPH RATE.*JB
ABS FAILURE AT LOW SPEED. *JB
SPEEDOMETER IN 2003 GMC YUKON ACTING ERRATICALLY. INACCURATE REPORTING OF SPEED ON SPEEDOMOTER. TRUCK SHOWS 50 MPH WHEN STOPPED. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE AND CANT BE TRUSTED. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET WHERE THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. GMC NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *NM
ARRIVED HOME ONE EVENING AND NOTICED MY SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 43 MPH WHILE SITTING STILL IN THE DRIVEWAY. AT FIRST IT WAS ACCURATE BY SUBTRACTING THE ERROR TO CALCULATE THE SPEED BUT HAS SUBSEQUENTLY BECOME ERRATIC IN IT'S INACCURACY TO THE POINT OF TOTAL UNRELIABILITY. I FEAR THE CONSEQUENCES RELATING TO NOT BEING ABLE TO DETERMINE THE SPEED, SUCH AS TRAFFIC TICKETS AND SUCH. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS I TRAVEL THROUGH NUMEROUS SCHOOL ZONES IN MY DAILY TRAVELS. IT REMAINS UNREPAIRED AND WILL BE SO SINCE I DON'T HAVE $500 LAYING AROUND TO REPLACE A DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETER. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THERE ARE MANY, MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE THIS IDENTICAL PROBLEM, WHICH TELLS ME THERE IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN, AND AS SUCH I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED WITH THE OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES BY GENERAL MOTORS CORP. *NM
IT STARTED THIS FALL MAYBE CLOSER TO WINTER. BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDO STUCK AT ABOUT 70 MILES AN HOUR. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS A GLITCH BUT WHEN IT HAPPENED MORE AND MORE NOW I KNOW THAT IT IS A PROBLEM. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM AND WHEN YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING A CERTIAN MPH AND YOUR REALLY NOT SOME MIGHT GET FRUSTRATED WITH OTHERS EVEN THOUGH THEY MAY BE IN THE WRONG. I CAN JUST SEE ALL THE ROAD RAGE HAPPENING BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY ARE GOIND 70 AND THEY ARE REALLY GOING 80 OR MORE. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING MY TACHOMETER BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT OTHERS ARE DOING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. BECAUSE I AM BEING TOLD THAT IT WILL COST 600+ TO FIX. HOW MANY OF THOSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM ARE GOING TO SPEND THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX A SPEEDOMETER?
I HAVE A REPEATING FAILURE OF THE SPEEDOMETER IN MY 2003 GMC YUKON WITH 53K MILES. WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS THE SPEEDOMETER WILL READ 60-70 MPH FASTER THAN ACTUALLY TRAVELING. WHILE PARKED THE GAUGE WILL STICK AT A RANDOM SPEED ABOVE 0. I FEEL THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE I AM UNABLE TO PROPERLY KNOW MY SPEED WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE READ THIS PROBLEM IS PREVALENT WITH GMC/CHEVY TRUCKS AND FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPAIR MY SPEEDOMETER. *NM
ENGINE TICKING ON STARTUP, LASTS FOR 5 MINUTES CURRENTLY - LONGER ON COLD STARTS OR AFTER LETTING THE CAR SIT OVERNIGHT. PROGRESSIVELY HAS GOTTEN LOUDER AND LONGER IN DURATION SINCE REPORTING THE FAILURE LAST YEAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS PISTON "SLAP" NOISE DESCRIBED APPEARS TO BE MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN 5.3 LITER ENGINE WHERE SHIPMENT OF ENGINES WITH CYLINDER HEADS THAT ARE OVERSIZED OR PISTONS SHIPPING AS UNDERSIZED IS CAUSING WARPING ON PISTON HEAD, HENCE THE REASON WHY THE NOISE PROGRESSIVLY GETS LOUDER AND LONGER LASTING AS TIME PROGRESSES. ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP HAS DOCUMENTED THE REPORT OF THE NOISE WITH NO RESULT OR ATTEMPT TO FIX. CUSTOMER HAS PURCHASED EXTENDED WARRANTY PRIOR TO THE EVIDENCE OF THIS FAILURE, AT TIME OF PURCHASE. SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS HAVE DIRECTED CUSTOMER TO FILE A DIRECT COMPLAINT WITH MANUFACTURER AS ENGINE HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED THAT PROLONGED WEAR WITH THE "SLAP" THAT IS CAUSING THE TICKING NOISE WILL CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE TO ENGINE OVER TIME. ONLY SUGGESTED RECOURSE IS TO REPLACE ENGINE WITH 5.3 THAT SHIPPED AFTER SEPTEMBER 2002 AND WAS NOT MANUFACTURED FROM ONE OF THREE GM PLANTS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF THE DEFECTIVE ENGINES.
HAD TRUCK FOR ONE WEEK, HAVING A GOOD TIME, AND THEN THE CAR STALLED ELEVEN TIMES ON ME. WHEEL LOCKS UP AND I AM TRAVELING AT 60 MILES PER HOUR. EVEN STALLED ON TOP OF THE GREATER NEW ORLEANS BRIDGE WITH A TRUCK FULL OF KIDS. VERY SCARY I AM TERRIFIED TO GO ANYWHERE FAR AND AM NOT PLEASED WITH THE FACT I HAD TO PAY A HUNDRED DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I HAVEN'T PAID THE FIRST NOTE AND SHELLING OUT MONEY FOR REPAIRS. I HATE THIS. THEN THE DEALERSHIPS TREAT YOU AS IF YOU ARE CRAZY. THEY CLAIM IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP! NOW THE SERVICE CREW AT (?) THINKS I'M CRAZY, I'M JUST SCARED. I COULD HAVE STAYED IN MY UNRELIABLE INTREPID FOR WHAT I AM GOING THROUGH. AND REMEMBER IT'S ONLY BEEN A WEEK. NOW I JUST DROP THE KIDS TO SCHOOL AND PARK IT UNTIL IT'S TIME TO PICK THEM UP. NOTHING EXTRA! WE NEED TO TRY TO FORM A CLASS ACTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. ONE DAY THE CAR BEHIND US WON'T STOP! THANK GOD NOTHING TRAGIC SO FAR THAT WE KNOW OF. WHY DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE DRASTIC MEASURES ARE MADE BY THESE MANUFACTURES! I WISH EVERY HEAD GMC AS WELL AS A FEW OTHERS WOULD TAKE THESE VEHICLES FOR THE WEEKEND AND DRIVE IN FEAR LIKE WE DO EVERYDAY WITH THEIR DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. *NM
2003 YUKON. TACH STUCK ON 5000 - 6000 RPM. SPEEDOMETER STICKING AND DECREASING ON HIGHWAY. *JB
I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INDICATING A MUCH HIGHER RATE OF SPEED THAN I WAS GOING 120 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED BUT THE SPEEDOMETER ONLY WENT DOWN TO 60 MPH AT A DEAD STOP. HAVE NOT REPAIRED PROBLEM. DEALER WANTS 750.00 TO REPLACE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. I WAS REFERRED TO THIS SITE AFTER READING MORE THAN 180 SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON SIMILAR GMC MODELS. *JB
I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON AND IT SEEMS TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. MEANING THE SPEEDOMETER ALONG WITH THE BATTERY GAUGE. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. MY BATTERY GAUGE WORKS PROPERLY SOMETIMES AND SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. I WENT TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND WITHOUT EVEN CHECKING INTO THE PROBLEM HE TOLD ME THAT I HAVE TO PURCHASE A NEW INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL. HE SAID HE HAS HAD TO REPLACE MANY OTHER ONES ALSO. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE SPEEDOMETER THEN IT MOVED TO MY BATTERY GAUGE. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE. IT HAS BEEN GOING ON NOW FOR ABOUT 8,000 MILES. I HAVE 47,273 MILES ON MY YUKON. IT STARTED JUST AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED. *JB
2003 GMC YUKON AWD W/ STABILITRAK. 40,000 MI.: WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE "TRACTION ACTIVE" DASH DISPLAY WILL VERY OFTEN COME ON, THE POWERTRAIN DISENGAGES AND I HAVE TO LET UP ON GAS UNTIL TRANSMISSION RE-ENGAGES. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE SEPTEMBER, NUMEROUS TIMES A DAY. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED, SINCE THE DRIVERS BEHIND ME PRESUPPOSE I WILL CONTINUE ACCELERATING. A GM DEALER, AFTER EXAM & DIAGNOSTICS, COULD FIND NO PROBLEM, EVEN AFTER BEING ADVISED ABOUT POSSIBLE "WHEEL CORROSION." IN THE MEANTIME OF COURSE, IT CONTINUES. AN ENTRY IN EDMUNDS "CAR SPACE" HAS REFERRED ME TO "DOCUMENT ID#1819672 202 GMC TRUCK GMC K SIERRA 4WD; SUBJECT: PRODUCT SAFETY - FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR CORROSION #05068B - (04/21/2006). THIS SEEMS TO BE A DANGEROUS, SERIOUS PROBLEM WHICH SHOULD MERIT A RECALL. *JB
THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED SLOWLY DECREASING WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE. IT FINALLY GOT TO ZERO AND QUIT WORKING FOR THE DURATION OF THE TRIP. IT DID THIS SPORADICALLY FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS - SOMETIMES IT DECREASES, SOMETIMES IT INCREASES. NOW THE SPEEDOMETER, WHEN IT WORKS, USUALLY SHOWS 70 MPH OR HIGHER. IT REGISTERS A SPEED WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING OR NOT. ALL THE OTHER GAUGES SEEM TO BE WORKING CORRECTLY. WE NOW MONITOR OUR SPEED BY THE TACHOMETER. WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN AN ESTIMATE ON REPAIR HOPING GM WILL ISSUE A RECALL. *JB
THE HINGE HOLDING THE REAR WINDOW TO THE LIFTGATE IS PULLING AWAY FROM THE GLASS. I AM AFRAID THAT THE WINDOW IS GOING TO FALL OFF OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE WINDOW HAS SHIFTED FROM ITS INTENDED POSITION SO THAT WHENEVER I OPEN THE LIFTGATE, THE TOP OF THE WINDOW CATCHES ON THE TOP OF THE BODY. *JB

I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY IN MY 2003 GMC YUKON XL AND ONLY WENT A SHORT DISTANCE WHEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE WAS VERY SLUGGISH AND THE DIC SHOWED "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". I TURNED AROUND AND WENT HOME. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. WHEN I STARTED IT UP A LITTLE WHILE LATER IT WAS FINE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT AND THEY SAID THAT THIS WAS COMMON AND IT WAS DUE TO REFUELING WITH THE VEHICLE RUNNING OR A LOOSE GAS CAP...NEITHER OF THESE HAD HAPPENED IN MY CASE. THE NEXT DAY I HAD MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE AND WAS DRIVING SOUTH ON RT. 95 WHEN THE VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN. I LOST ALL ABILITY TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED. THE MECHANIC THAT TOWED IT READ THE DTC'S AND FOUND THE FOLLOWING: -CLASS 2 DATA LINK MALFUNCTION. - BODY CONTROL MODULE. - PCM TO TAC MODULE SERIAL DATA CONNECTION. I PLACED A CALL TO GMC ON 9/2 TO REPORT THE PROBLEM AND THE DANGER IT HAD PLACED MY FAMILY IN. THEY TOLD ME IT HAD TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP FOR AN OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND THAT THE SAME PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES W/ OTHER YUKONS AS WELL AS 2003 CHEVY AVALANCHES. AFTER READING THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS REGARDING THIS ISSUE IT IS VERY APPARENT THAT GMC IS FULLY AWARE OF THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE BUT HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE IT PUTTING MILLIONS AT RISK EVERY DAY. SOMEONE NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS BEFORE MORE PEOPLE GET HURT. *NM
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI AND AT 43,000 MILES, ONLY 3 YEARS OLD (IF THAT) IN AUGUST OF 2006, MY SPEEDOMETER JUST STOPPED ONE DAY BUT ONLY AFTER STICKING FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS ON 20-30 MPH. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $435 TO FIX IT; BUT, I REFUSED BECAUSE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED. I BOUGHT IT IN FAYETTEVILLE, NC. AFTER RESEARCHING I FOUND OUT I WAS NOT ALONE IN OWNING A GM DEFECT, AS WELL AS, GM'S KNOWLEDGE OF THIS DEFECT SINCE AT LEAST 2003 IF NOT LONGER. THIS SHOWS A FLAGRANT DISREGARD FOR OUR SAFETY AND A VOLUNTARILY DECEITFUL ACT ON GMC'S BEHALF THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
THE WINDOW HINGE ON THE REAR WINDOW OF MY 2003 GMC YUKON BECAME DISCONNECTED FROM THE WINDOW. THIS HAS BEEN USED VERY RARELY, AND THE VEHICLE IS ALWAYS GARAGED. IT SEEMS LIKE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT, OR DESIGN FLAW...NOT SOMETHING THAT FAILED BECAUSE OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. WITHOUT REPAIR, THIS COULD LEAD TO WINDOW SEPARATION AND HARM TO OTHER VEHICLES FOLLOWING ME ON THE HIGHWAY. *JB
2003 GMC YUKON. INSTRUMENT PANEL FAULTY. GIVES INCORRECT SPEED, INCORRECT RPM, INCORRECT OIL PRESSURE. CAN BE GOING FREEWAY SPEEDS AND SPEEDOMETER WILL REGISTER 0 MPH AT TIMES. *AK
NO CRASH. VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO JULY 15, 2006. VEHICLE WAS USED FOR A SHORT TRIP ABOUT 2 MILES TOTAL. WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND LONGER THAN NORMAL DISTANCE WAS REQUIRED TO STOP. BRAKES WERE VERY SPONGY. FLUID LEVEL CHECKED FOUND TO BE WITHIN NORMAL RANGE, NORMAL COLOR AND NO APPARENT LEAKS. VEHICLE HAD APPROXIMATELY 27,000 MILES AT THE TIME. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR OF BRAKES (WHILE THERE HAD 30,000 MILE SERVICE DONE AS WELL). DEALER ADVISED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BAD (INTERIOR FAILURE) NEW PART WAS ORDERED AND PLACED ON THE VEHICLE. UPON VEHICLE BEING RETURNED THE VEHICLE APPEARED TO STILL HAVE A VERY SPONGY PEDAL AND THE PEDAL TRAVELED EXCESSIVE DISTANCE (APPROXIMATELY 4") BEFORE FEELING SOME PRESSURE. TRAVEL DISTANCE APPEARS TO STILL BE LONGER THAN BEFORE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. TRIED DRIVING THE VEHICLE A FEW MILES MAYBE 100 TO SEE IF ANYTHING CHANGED WITH BRAKES. BRAKES REMAINED THE SAME. RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE MANAGER AGREED WITH ME AFTER TESTING THAT THE BRAKES APPEARED SPONGY. ATTEMPT TO FIX BY THE DEALERSHIP ADVISED THEY "FOUND AIR IN THE LINES, BLED BRAKE SYSTEM SEEMS TO BE WORKING IN PROPER ORDER". I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND THE BRAKES STILL FEEL THE SAME, SPONGY PEDAL TRAVELS APPROXIMATELY 4" BEFORE ANY NOTICEABLE BRAKING FUNCTION, STOPPING DISTANCE STILL APPEARS TO BE A LITTLE EXCESSIVE. CONTACTED GMC SERVICE ONLINE AND ADVISED OF THE PROBLEM AND THAT I AM IN THE PROCESS OF CONTACTING A DIFFERENT DEALER TO ATTEMPT SERVICE REPAIRS. THEY GAVE ME THE NAME OF ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO TRY. AT THIS POINT PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED. *JB
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI THAT AT APPROXIMATELY 60,000 THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY. I WOULD BE DRIVING IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 100 MPH OR MORE. SOMETIMES IT WOULD GET STUCK ON A CERTAIN SPEED EVEN AFTER PARKING. I LOOKED INTO GETTING IT FIXED BUT I WAS TOLD THAT IT WOULD COST BETWEEN 500 OR 1000 DOLLARS AND THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY THE WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER IT. I HAVE NOW SEEN THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS A SHAME THAT A VEHICLE COMPANY AS GMC HAS NOT STEPPED UP TO HELP US FIX THIS PROBLEM SINCE IT IS A DANGER TO HAVE A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS. *TR
HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM. VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN DRIVEWAY WITHOUT USE FOR A FEW WEEKS. WHEN USED BRAKES WERE VERY SPONGY, LONG PEDAL TRAVEL BEFORE REACTION THEN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. FLUID LEVEL OK, CLEAR APPEARED NORMAL, NO APPARENT LEAKS, NORMAL TEMPERATURE. DROVE TO DEALER CAREFULLY, SERVICE MANAGER WHEN MOVING VEHICLE SAID HE ALMOST RAN THROUGH THE BACK OTF THE BUILDING. VEHICLE NOT IN ANY ACCIDENTS, SERVICE MAINTENANCE CONDUCTED AT NORMAL INTERVALS ACCORDING TO SERVICE RECOMMENDATIONS. APPROXIMATELY 27000 MILES ON VEHICLE. DRIVEN BY MYSELF 50 YEARS OLD AND MY WIFE 47 YEARS OLD SAFE DRIVERS SPEED LIMIT SPEEDS LARGE AMOUNT OF STOPPING DISTANCE FOR BRAKING NOT JAMMING ON BRAKES AT LAST MINUTE. I SCHEDULED VEHICLE FOR SERVICE AT WIN KELLY CHEVROLET WHERE PURCHASED FOR BRAKE CHECK AND 30,000 MILE CHECKUP. WHILE THERE THEY ADVISED IT WAS INTERIOR FAILURE OF MASTER CYLINDER AND THEY REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. THE BRAKES FEEL A LITTLE BETTER BUT THE PEDAL STILL MOVES APPROXIMATELY 4" BEFORE APPLYING ANY PRESSURE. I FEEL THIS IS STILL A PROBLEM AND WILL BE TAKING IT BACK TO THE DEALER AGAIN. I BELIEVE THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SYSTEM LIKE THEY HAD ON PREVIOUS S10 MODELS IN LATE 90'S WITH THE SLOW SPEED BRAKING RECALL. JUST WANT TO SEND A COMPLAINT FOR YOU TO BE AWARE OF IN CASE YOU RECEIVE MORE COMPLAINTS. I EMAILED A LETTER TO GM WHILE IT WAS IN THE SHOP WITH THE SAME COMMENTS AND THE REFERENCE TO THE PREVIOUS FOR THE SMALLER VERSIONS IN THE LATE 90'S AND HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A RESPONSE. IF THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THEN THEY MAY HAVE A VALVE DESIGN, OPERATION OR PART ASSEMBLE/INSTALL DEFECT WITH THE SYSTEM. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED ON THREE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY AND FREEWAY SPEEDS OF 30- 75 MPH THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FOLLOWED BY ANOTHER LOUD BANG. THE VEHICLE STALLED AND FILLED WITH WHITE SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP EACH TIME. THE ENTIRE A/C WAS REPLACED ON TWO OCCASIONS. ON ANOTHER OCCASION VARIOUS PARTS OF THE A/C WAS REPLACED. ON THREE OTHER OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND WAS TOWED EACH TIME. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.
SPEEDOMETER UNRELIABLE, DROPS SLOWLY FROM HIGHWAY SPEED TO 0 WHILE STILL ON HIGHWAY GOING FULL SPEED. FUEL GAGE ALSO ERRATIC. SERVICE 4WD POPS UP IN DISPLAY AND ONCE VEHICLE IS CUT OFF SERVICE MESSAGE IS GONE, SHOWS UP ONCE A MONTH OR SO. STEERING BOX REPLACED ONCE AT MY EXPENSE, CONTINUES TO MAKE NOISE AND NOW FEELS ERRATIC. *JB
I OWN A 2003 GMC YUKON DENALI. I'M HAVING A PROBLEM WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER AND HORN ARE INTERMITTENTLY GOING OUT. I CAN DRIVE THE TRUCK ONE DAY AND IT'S FINE AND LATER THAT DAY OR DURING ANOTHER DRIVE, THE HORN WILL NOT WORK AND THE SPEEDOMETER WITH EITHER DO A 'JUMPING' MOTION OR WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL. THERE HAVE BEEN NO CRASHES TO DATE. I CALLED MY LOCAL GMC DEALER AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE DENALI BUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE HORNS ON THE SIERRA TRUCKS...*NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED UNDER RECALL JANUARY 2005. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED THERE IS A POPPING AND GRINDING NOSE. THERE IS ALSO AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE SHAFT WAS GREASED. THIS DID NOT REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE SHAFT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE NHTSA RECALL INFORMATION IS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2003 YUKON XL (51,000 MILES) FLEX FUEL SENSOR IS ROTTING OFF THE VEHICLE. WAS TOLD IT IS NOT COVERED. IT IS SELF DESTRUCTING AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE FUEL LINES ENTER THE SENSOR. IF THE CORROSION CONTINUES IT WILL CAUSE FUEL TO SPRAY ALL OVER THE UNDERCARRIAGE. I AM AN ASE MASTER TECH. AND A VOCATIONAL AUTOMOTIVE INSTRUCTOR. I FEEL THIS COULD POSE A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY. OCCASIONALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT WORK AT ALL. THE OTHER INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES HAVE BEGUN TO MALFUNCTION AND DISPLAY INACCURATE READINGS. WHEN THE CONTACT PLACED FUEL IN THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL GAUGE DIAL WOULD STOP A LITTLE BELOW THE FULL LINE; THEREFORE, SHE NEVER KNEW HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONSULTED GMC AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. GMC WANTED TO CHARGE HER $450 FOR THE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS A SQUEALING NOISE THAT APPEARED TO BE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. DURING A NORMAL MAINTENANCE SERVICE, THE SERVICE DEALER DETERMINED THE SQUEALING NOISE WAS NORMAL. ON APRIL 4, AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE WITH THE DEALER REGARDING THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED THE VENT SOLENOID HAD FAILED INTERNALLY AND THE VENT SOLENOID AND BRACKET PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD BY DEALERSHIP THAT UNTIL WORK COULD BE PERFORMED THE CAR WAS DRIVEABLE. ON APRIL 5TH, THE VEHICLE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH ON WET ROADS, THE BRAKES FAILED WHICH CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. WHILE THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MANUVER THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE HIT A POLE AND SLIDE INTO A DITCH. DURING THE ACCIDENT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALL OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEATBELTS HOWEVER INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE CONTACTS HAD LOWER BACK INJURIES. AN MRI WAS PERFORMED SHOWING A DISLOCATED DISK TO THE LOWER BACK. OTHER INJURIES OCCURRED TO TWO OTHER PASSANGERS AGES 12 AND 7; MINOR HEAD INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND ACCIDENT REPORT WAS PROCESSED WITH THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP FOR REPAIRS. ADDITIONAL REPAIRS STILL NEED TO BE MADE TO BRAKES AND AIRBAGS.
I HAVE A 2003 GMC YUKON XL WHICH BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME AT ~51,280 MILES. THESE ARE SEALED BEARINGS THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE BY REPLACING BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARING ASSEMBLIES, $692.49, WHEN I HEARD THE BEARING GRINDING NOISE. THE MECHANIC AT THE GM DEALER TOLD ME HE REPLACES THE BEARING ASSEMBLIES ON TWO TO THREE VEHICLES A WEEK. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A T-BONE COLLISION AT 10MPH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO PRE-BRAKING PRIOR TO IMPACT. ALTHOUGH THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING SEATBELTS, MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE AGENCY. THE POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SEEN BY A DEALER FOR INSPECTION.

AFTER NOTICING THAT MY 2003 YUKON DENALI HAD INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHTS/DASH LIGHTS DIMMING, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THEY PRESENTED ME WITH A DOCUMENT THAT STATED THE GM STATED THIS WAS NOT A MALFUNCTION AND WAS A NORMAL CONDITION. THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT THIS THAT IS "NORMAL". ANY TIME, AT NIGHT, A CURVE IS TAKEN AT ABOVE 35 MPH THE LIGHTS FLICKER. I HAD ALREADY PINPOINTED THAT IT HAD TO DO WITH THE VSES SYSTEM BECAUSE WHEN THE VSES IS TURNED OFF, THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN. WHEN A CURVE IS TAKEN AND THE FLICKERING OCCURS, THE VOLTAGE METER FOR THE BATTERY DROPS SUBSTANTIALLY AND THEN GOES RIGHT BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS A DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER (MYSELF), ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC, AND ANYONE THAT I AM BEHIND. THIS ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE IT CAUSES INJURY. *JB

MY SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN STICKING. SOMETIMES IT RESETS SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. RECENTLY IT HAS BEEN STUCK PAST THE 120 MPH. REPAIR SHOPS RECOMMEND TAKING IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE BUT HAVE NOT DONE SO YET. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS. *JB

DT: CONTACT STATED THE SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAUGE FAILED. THE NEEDLE ON THE SPEEDOMETER MOVED, BUT IT SAID 100 MPH WHEN GOING ONLY 5 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY STATED IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND USUALLY HAPPENED AT 30,000 MILES. THEY WERE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE.
