TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE TAC MODULE AND ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WOULD STIFFEN AND NOT MOVED DOWNWARD COMPLETELY. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER ASSIST BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 04V045000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKE PEDAL SUNK AND I LOST BRAKES. I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ALMOST DROVE INTO A GUARD RAIL. AFTER FURTHER INSPECTION I OBSERVE THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE BRAKE WAS CORRODED CAUSING IT TO BREAK. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH GMC AND THE COMPANY SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. USING STAINLESS WOULD PREVENT INCIDENTS LIKE THESE AND POSSIBLE INJURIES OR DEATHS.
THE POWER IN THE DASH IS GONE SO YOU CAN'T SEE THE SPEED THE TEMP GAGE OR THE OIL PRESSURE GAGE.
MY HUSBAND AND I PURCHASED A 2004 GMC YUKON FROM A LOCAL DEALERSHIP HERE IN LOUISVILLE KENTUCKY IN 2007 AND NOT TO LONG AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE SOME OF THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING. MY HUSBAND CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO ONE OF THEIR SERVICE CENTER WHICH THEY LOOKED AT IT AND STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. MY HUSBAND EXPLAINED THE GAUGES WOULD SOMETIMES STICK/QUITE WORKING WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND SOMETIMES WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AND HE WOULD SOMETIMES HAVE TO TAP ON IT TO TRY TO GET IT TO WORK AGAIN. TIME WENT ON AND IT GOT WORSE AND MY HUSBAND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE TOLD HIM THE INSTRUMENT PANEL/CLUSTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE PAID FOR A REPLACEMENT AND SHORTLY AFTER THE REPLACEMENT IT STARTED DOING THE SAME THING THE OTHER PANEL DID. ALL THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING AND WE HAVE TO TAP ON IT TO GET IT TO WORK AND NOW IT HAS GOTTEN EVEN WORSE AND I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE BECAUSE WHY SHOULD WE CONTINUE TO SPEND OUR MONEY ON GETTING REPLACEMENTS AND THEY DO THE SAME THING. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THESE PANELS. I HAVE CONTACTED GM REGARDING THIS ISSUE AND THEY STATED THERE WAS A SERVICE WARRANTY ON THE PANEL BUT IT EXPIRED IN 2011. I THEN STATED THAT WE DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE SERVICE WARRANTY BECAUSE WE NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING IN THE MAIL AND THEY STATED THE SERVICE WARRANTY WAS MAILED OUT TO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THE VEHICLE AND WE MUST NOT HAVE REGISTERED OUR VEHICLE CORRECTLY WITH THE DMV (DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLE) WHICH I DON'T SEE HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE WHEN WE RECEIVE A NOTICE IN THE MAIL EVERY YEAR TO RENEW THE REGISTRATION ON THE VEHICLE WE ARE CURRENT EVERY YEAR SO I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY WE DIDN'T RECEIVE THE NOTICE REGARDING THE SERVICE WARRANTY IN THE MAIL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE SLAMMED TO A STOP AS IF SOMEONE STRUCK THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED AND PREVENTED THE CONTACT FROM KNOWING HOW FAST THE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER REPLACEMENT ENDED IN 2010. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
DRIVING VEHICLE AT 30 MPH. LOST ALL POWER AND ENGINE. NO BRAKES, NO POWER STEERING, NO DASH LIGHTS, ENGINE QUIT RUNNING, NO EXTERIOR LIGHTS. PARKED VEHICLE IN PARKING LOT. NO POWER AT ALL. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES OF WAITING VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN AND HAD MINIMAL ACCELERATION/POWER. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE LOST POWER SLID ON BRAKES, AIR BAG LIGHT AND STABILITY LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. *TR
VEHICLE STARTED FINE, THEN AS I WAS DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD ENGINE SHUT OFF AND I LOST ALL POWER, COULD NOT TURN CAR WITHOUT STEERING AND CRASHED INTO CURB UP THE STREET, CAR WOULD NOT START, HAD AAA COME TOW TO OUR HOME. HAD A NEW BATTERY, AND WOULD ONLY TAKE A CHARGE WHEN BYPASSING BATTERY DIRECTLY INTO ENGINE. NOW SOMETHING IS DRAINING BATTERY AND IF I DON'T START AND RUN EVERY TWO DAYS , BATTERY DEAD. ELECTRICAL CLUSTER ALSO GOING BAD AND INSTRUMENTS NOT WORKING, AIR CONDITIONING ELECTRICAL PROBLEM , WILL BLOW COLD OUT OF ALL BUT TWO VENTS, WHERE IT BLOWS 90 DEGREES. BACK WINDOW WIPER STOPPED WORKING, ALL ELECTRICAL RELATED. DEALER SAID NO ERROR CODES TEST DROVE FOR A WEEK TO GET TO REPRODUCE STALL DRIVING, RETURNED TO ME SAYING CAN'T DIAGNOSE. SO FRUSTRATING AND DANGEROUS.
FAULTY CASTECH HEAD CAUSED COOLANT FLUID TO DRAIN INTO BLOCK THEREFORE DESTROYING MOTOR. GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THESE FAULTY HEADS AND REFUSES TO WORK TO RESOLVE PROBLEM. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 06-06-01-019B. *TR
DRIVING AT 35 MPH WHEN THE BRAKES SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WITH NO INDICATION PRECEDING INCIDENT. VEHICLE MADE CONTACT WITH CURB BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. DISCOVERED REAR BRAKE LINES HAD COMPLETELY CORRODED THROUGH AND VEHICLE WAS LOSING FLUID. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT GM REFUSES TO FIX. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON SATURDAY MORNING, IN MY DADS 2004 YUKON LUCKILY IT WAS EARLY ENOUGH NOT MUCH TRAFFIC AT THE TIME, IT WAS RAINING AND I WAS NOT DRIVING VERY FAST NORMAL SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY IS 40 MILES PER HOUR ON US11 BECAUSE OF CONGESTION AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS, I WAS TRAVELING BETWEEN 30 AND 35 MPH BECAUSE OF RAIN, ANYWAYS A LIGHT CHANGED AND I HAD TIME TO STOP, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP THE PEDAL WENT ALMOST TO THE FLOOR AND THE LIGHT CAME ON STATING BRAKE FAILURE, FROM THAT POINT I SLOWED DOWN AS SLOW AS I COULD AND TRIED TO TEST THE BRAKES, IT WOULD STOP, BUT NEEDED PLENTY OF DISTANCE, SO I SLOWED FOR A TURN OFF, AND WHEN I GOT HOME, STARTED TO BRAKE BEFORE ENTERING THE DRIVEWAY SO THAT I WOULD NOT HIT THE GARAGE OR ANYTHING ELSE, IN FACT I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AT THE END OF THE DRIVEWAY NEAR THE ROAD. *TR
EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON BRAKE CALIPERS, BLEEDERS AND ALL BOLTS ARE RUSTED AND UNMOVABLE. BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND LEAKING. *TR
TACHOMETER GAUGE NO LONGER FUNCTIONS, WRONG SPEED READING ON SPEEDOMETER AND OIL PRESSURE GAUGE READING TOO MUCH PRESSURE. FUEL GAUGE READING ADD FUEL WHEN I KNOW IT HAS MORE THAN "LOW". FUNNY HOW SPEEDOMETER WAS PEGGED OUT WHEN I WAS ONLY GOING 60. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARE TIRE THAT WAS LOCATED UNDER THE VEHICLE DETACHED AND FELL TO THE GROUND. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE ASSEMBLY THAT SECURES THE SPARE TIRE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO SOLUTION WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I GET THIS (COMFORT RIDE CONTROL) WHEN I TURN THE KEY OFF AND BACK ON IT THERE AGAIN. WHEN I START IT UP.
HELLO OVER THE LAST TWO WEEKS, MY TRUCK HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING INTERMITTENT MESSAGE FLASH ACROSS THE DASH "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND "STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED", AND THE TRUCK IS LIMITED TO 25MPH.. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN TRAFFIC, FORCING MY WIFE, OR MYSELF TO HAVE TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL OFF THE FREEWAY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. AFTER SITTING FOR 5-10 MINUTES THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF, AND THE ENGINE WILL BE FINE. THE DESCRIBED SCENARIO JUST OCCURRED AGAIN TODAY FOR THE 3RD TIME IN ONE DAY,, SO THINGS APPEAR TO DEGRADING RAPIDLY, AND I WILL NEED TO HAVE THE SYSTEM REVIEWED AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. BACKING UP TO HOOK UP A TRAILER, I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE AND IT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. REAR BRAKE LINE RUPTURED AFTER ABS MODULE AND RIGHT ABOUT THE FUEL TANK. I CANNOT REPLACE JUST THEY ONE LINE BECAUSE OF CORROSION AND RUST AT THE MODULE. THIS IS THE FAMILY SUV AND IM LUCKY THIS HAPPENED IN MY YARD AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS PREPARING TO LEAVE TOWING A 5500LB TRAILER. ALL THESE OTHER LINES ARE EQUALLY BAD AND I FEAR THEY ARE GOING TO RUPTURE TOO. I'M STUCK WITH A 10 YEAR OLD LESS THAN SAFE VEHICLE. *TR
HAD JUST BACKED OUR BAY BOAT INTO IT'S SPOT AFTER HAULING IT ON I95,THE BLUE ROUTE AND PA TURNPIKE .WHEN I RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO PULL AWAY FROM THE BOAT,THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT APPEARED,AND IMMEDIATELY LOST MOST OF MY BRAKING POWER .I FOUND THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED .IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY ,TOWING THE BOAT,IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. AS I SLOWED EXITING A FREEWAY ABOUT 35 MPH, I HEARD A SCREECH & A BIT OF LOSS OF POWER. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO PUT INTO REVERSE FOR PARKING (LATER) IT WAS APPARENT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION. AS I INVESTIGATED ON LINE IT WAS AN ONGOING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM DUE TO "LESS THAN ROBUST PARTS" INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION. GM DEALER-SERVICE REP. JOHN AT ZUBOR AGREED WITH THIS AND TOLD ME TO CONTACT GM SINCE IT WAS, JUST OVER THE 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. IT TOOK GM TWO WEEKS OR MORE TO REPLY & RETURN MY CALLS & EMAILS, WHEN OF COURSE I WAS TOLD A GM DEALER MUST DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM--VEHICLE WAS ALREADY REPAIRED AT THAT POINT BY MY OWN MECHANIC. I DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER FORM OF TRANSPORTATION & SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY I HAD NO PROMISE OF GM ASSISTANCE, I TOOK IT WHERE I COULD! I PAID $1850.00 FOR A NEW TRANS WITH WARRANTY. I WOULD NOT BE WRITING EXCEPT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM & THE GM TECH ON LINE SAID THERE WAS "NOTHING YOU COULD DO TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING SINCE THE INTERIOR PARTS ARE WEAK". GM TECH COMMENTED GM HAD BEGAN USING MORE "ROBUST PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT, BUT DUE TO HIGH LABOR COSTS (INTERIOR PARTS) HE SUGGESTED TO REPLACE TRANS SO YOU WOULD HAVE A WARRANTY". THIS IS ALSO WHAT OUR MECHANIC ADVISED. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
AT APPROXIMATELY 1:54 PM I WAS LEAVING WORK AND I DIDN'T GET ABOUT 1,000 FEET WHEN I BEGAN TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM THE CENTER CONSOLE AREA WHERE THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WAS. I PULLED OVER INTO A GAS STATION AND TOOK THE CUP HOLDERS OUT TRYING TO SEARCH WHERE THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM. I THEN SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE VENTS ON THE DASHBOARD. I ALSO SAW SMOKE COMING FROM THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT UNDER THE HOOD. I OPENED THE HOOD AND MORE SMOKE WITH COMING FROM THE VENT. I OPENED THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND SAW THAT BEHIND THE CENTER CONSOLE JUST UNDER THE CD PLAY, THE WIRES WERE ON FIRE AND THE FIRE CONTINUED TO BECOME LARGER. I CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AT 1:56 PM AND AGAIN AT 1:59 PM WHEN THEY ARRIVED AND THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD WAS BURNING. THE VEHICLE'S DASHBOARD WAS COMPLETELY MELTED ALONG WITH THE CONTROLS ABOVE BY THE SUNROOF. THE VEHICLE IS A COMPLETE LOSS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED AT MY JOB FOR MORE THAN 6 HOURS BEFORE I TOOK IT TO GO HOME. I SUSTAINED SMOKE INHALATION AND HEAT BURNS ON MY FACE. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO THE LOCAL HOSPITAL, TREATED AND RELEASE. *TR
THE BRAKE TUBING MOUNTED ALONG THE FRAME TOWARDS THE ABS AND AWAY FROM THE ABS ARE VERY RUSTED FLAKING ETC. THEY HAVE NOT BUSTED JET BUT COULD ANY MOMENT, I'M HAVING THEM CHANGED. AS MANY PEOPLE HAD BUSTED TUBING FOR ME IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, I'M AN MECHANICAL ENGINEER AND I UNDERSTAND THE DEFECT. *TR
THE BRAKE LINES ON MY 2004 XL YUKON WENT OUT LEAVING ME HELPLESS WITH MY 5 YEAR OLD TWIN DAUGHTERS. I WAS OUT DOING ERRANDS YESTERDAY WHEN I WAS TRAVELING 55 MILES AN HOUR ON A MAJOR SIDE HIGHWAY WHEN I WENT TO BRAKE AND MY FOOT WENT STRAIGHT TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FLOOR.... I WAS NOT ABLE TO STOP I WAS PETRIFIED BECAUSE I WAS IN FULL TRAFFIC. I PULLED OFF THE ROAD INTO THE GRASS TO PREVENT AN ACCIDENT. THIS WAS THE MOST FRIGHTENING SITUATION I HAVE EVER BEEN IN. WHEN MY HUSBAND ARRIVED HOME I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED , HE LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK TO FIND ALL I SAID ALL OF MY BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND RUSTED AND CRUMBLY TO THE GROUND. HE SAID HE NEVER SAW ANYTHING LIKE THIS. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL USED CARS IN OUR LIFETIME AND THIS IS THE FIRST TO EVER EXPERIENCE BRAKE LINE FAILURE!!!!!! I CALLED GM TO DISCUSS MY DILEMMA AND HOPEFULLY GET HELP WITH THE REPAIR AND CONFIRM MY HUSBANDS FINDINGS. WE WERE ADVISED THEY WILL DO THE TOW TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC,BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. WE WERE ALSO ADVISED THIS WAS A MAINTENANCE ISSUE. WELL IF WE WOULD HAVE EVER THOUGHT THAT WE WOULD NOT BE IN THIS PREDICAMENT TODAY... WELL HERE I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM ABOUT THE TOW. I ALSO CALLED THE GM DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THEY HAD SEVERAL CARS IN THERE DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW FOR BRAKE LINE REPAIR, BUT COULD DO NOTHING WITH ABSORBING THE REPAIR COST. I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO GENERAL MOTORS AND TAKE IT UP WITH THEM.... AT THIS POINT I AM THANKFUL FOR BEING ALIVE WITH MY BEAUTIFUL TWIN DAUGHTERS WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN CRIPPLED , DISMEMBERED OR EVEN DEAD I AM SEEKING FROM GENERAL MOTORS COMPENSATION FOR REPAIRS OF MY BRAKELINES ON MY GM XL YUKON 2004. *TR
A VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED SHORT BECAUSE A CAR WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF HIM. I APPLIED THE BRAKES. I WAS ABLE TO STOP BUT IMMEDIATELY THERE WAS A WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON. I WENT TO DRIVE A FEW FEET AND TRIED TO STOP WHEN I REALIZED I HAD NO BRAKES AT ALL AND THE WHITE SMOKE WAS STILL COMING OUT. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SHOP. THE BRAKES LINE FAILED BECAUSE OF CORROSION. THE BRAKE FLUID WAS SPRAYING ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CREATING THE WHITE SMOKE. *TR
DRIVING 45 MPH HIT BRAKES AND COULD NOT STOP. BRAKE FAILURE LIGHT APPEARED ON DASHBOARD. KEPT PUMPING BRAKES AND PUT INTO FIRST GEAR TO SLOW DOWN. LUCKILY WAS ABLE TO STOP AND NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF MY CAR..INSPECTED CAR AND REAR BRAKE LINE HOSE WAS BLOWN AND LEAKING HYD FLUID. *TR
I STARTED MY CAR AND WHILE I WAS IN PARK THE SPEEDOMETER SAID 70MPH. WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT WOULD REGISTER OVER 120MPH. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT SPEED I WAS TRULY GOING. THIS IS A SCARY FEELING ESPECIALLY WITH MY THREE CHILDREN IN THE CAR. I TRIED TURNING OFF THE CAR PUTTING IT IN DRIVE AND BACK TO PARK THINKING PERHAPS IT WAS STUCK, BUT NOTHING WORKS. A FEW MOMENTS LATER, MULTIPLE BEEPS OCCURRED WITH MESSAGES APPEARING ON DASH DISPLAY (AFTER THE FAILURE), ABOUT BRAKE SYSTEM NEEDS CHECKED OR SERVICED, AND STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED. TO CATCH THE LEAKING FLUID, I PLACED THE PAN UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT AREA. LINES LOOKED TOTALLY RUSTED. *TR

I WAS HEADING TO OCEAN CITY MARYLAND. AS I WAS APPROACHING THE TOLL PLAZA TO GO OVER THE BAY BRIDGE I SLOWED DOWN AND SEEM TO HAD STOPPED WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE CLEAR TO THE FLOOR AND I HIT THE BOX TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME THAT WAS STOPPED FOR TRAFFIC. I LOOKED AT THE DASH AND IT WAS ALL LIT UP AND BLINKING. THE GENTLEMAN TOLD ME I HAD LOST MY BREAKS AND THAT WHEN HE WOULD MOVE I WOULD BEGIN TO MOVE AS WELL. I WAS NOT FAR FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE BRIDGE BUT I WAS SIX OR SEVEN LANES TO THE LEFT IN THE EASYPASS LANE. I CALLED MY BROTHER ASKING HIM WHAT TO DO AND HE TALKED ME THROUGH AS I WAS PANICKING. I HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS AND LOTS OF TRACTOR TRAILERS GOING THROUGH THE PLAZA. I WAS FOR SURE I WAS GOING TO BE HIT OR HIT SOMEONE ELSE. I ROLLED DOWN MY WINDOWS PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND BEGAN TO BLOW MY HORN AND YELLING OUT THE WINDOW I HAVE NO BRAKES SO THAT I COULD GET OVER TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD RIGHT BEFORE THE BRIDGE. AS I DID PEOPLE DID STOP AND LET ME GET OVER AND I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE BUT THEY WERE NOT STOPPING THE TRUCK. AS I WAS DRIFTING OVER A TOLL FACILITY TOW TRUCK WAS ON THE SIDE AND HE YELLED TO ME WHAT WAS WRONG. I TOLD HIM NO BRAKES AND HE TOLD ME TO JUMP OUT AND HE JUMPED IN AND HIT THE TRUCK UP OVER A SMALL EMBANKMENT TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY OF ALL THE TRAFFIC. HE GOT IT TO STOP AND GOT OUT AND LOOKED UP UNDER THE TRUCK AND COULD SEE THAT TWO OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE SNAPPED. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED WITH OVER THE BAY BRIDGE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TWO BRAKE LINES THAT SNAPPED AND THEY COULD NOT BLEED THE LINES FULLY SINCE THEY WERE AFRAID THAT THE OTHER TWO LINES COULD SNAP AT ANY TIME. I GOT HOME AND HAD TO HAVE THE OTHER TWO LINES DONE AS WELL. I HAVE TO SAY I WAS NEVER SO SCARED IN MY LIFE I COULD HAVE DIED FOR SURE IF I WAS GOING ANY FASTER UP AN OVER THE BRIDGE AND DOWN THE HILL GETTING OFF. WORST DAY OF MY LIFE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE LATCHES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000.

I APPLIED THE BRAKES FIRMLY TO AVOID HITTING A DEER. ON MY NEXT BRAKE APPLICATION MY PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM MESSAGE CAME ON. WHEN I GOT HOME I FOUND A RUPTURED BRAKE LINE UNDERRATE DRIVERS DOOR. ALL LINES ARE RUSTED SEVERELY AS WELL AS MOST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE. I LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS ISSUE WITH GM VEHICLES SIMILAR TO MINE. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON IN MY CAR AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE MECHANIC, I WAS TOLD THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING THROUGH THE LINES AND IF I HAD DRIVEN FOR EVEN ANOTHER HOUR, I WOULD HAVE HAD NO BRAKES. I HAD THE LINES REPLACED, WHICH HAD TO BE CUSTOM BUILT. THE REPAIR COST ME $1188. *TR
I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, I EXITED AND STOPED AT A DRIVE UP WINDOW. AS I PULLED UP TO THE WINDOW MY BRAKE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR, I HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET THE CAR TO STOP. AFTER INSPECTION I FOUND THAT A LINE WITHIN THE CLUSTER OF FOUR HAD FAILED UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR. ALL THE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO SEVERE RUST. *TR

THE STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, WAITED, AND THEN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE AND DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.WHEN THEY WENT TO EXIT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR.AFTER I GOT IT HOME I FOLLOWED THE BRAKE FLUID TRAIL INTO MY GARAGE.HAD IT INSPECTED BY MY MECHANIC AND TWO OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE OTHERS WERE ON THERE WAY TO FAILURE ALSO.TOO BIG OF A JOB FOR HIM SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER FOR NEXT WEEK AT A PRICE OF AROUND $1300 AS QUOTED.THE DEALER TOLD ME THERE IS A REPAIR KIT FOR THIS BECAUSE OF SO MANY CASES OF PREMATURE RUST FAILURE BUT GM WILL NOT INCUR ANY OF THE COSTS OR ADMIT A SAFETY ISSUE.THE OUTRAGEOUS COST OF THE FIX IS ONE THING BUT THE SAFETY OF MANY IS TOTALLY ANOTHER. *TR

NOTICED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM UNDER DRIVERS DOOR AND SAW THAT THE HARD BRAKE LINES ON THE FRAME WERE RUSTED THREW. I HAD LOTS OF OLDER VEHICLES AND NEVER HAD THE HARD BRAKE LINES RUSTED THREW ESPECIALLY IN A 9 YEAR OLD VEHICLE. COULD HAVE BEEN VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON A HIGHWAY. *TR
WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND GO TO THE CORNER STORE TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF, COME OUT OF STORE TO RESTART VEHICLE IT WILL NOT START IT MAY TAKE ME 10 MINUTES TO 4 HOURS TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN. MEANING I HAVE BEEN STRANDED AT GROCERY STORES, WORK, SCHOOL FUNCTIONS. ATTEMPTING TO GET THE VEHICLE STARTED AGAIN I AM CONSTANTLY TURNING THE SWITCH. AT THIS PRESENT TIME I HAVE NOT DROVE MY TRUCK IN ALMOST 5 MONTHS. AND I HAVE BEEN MAKING TRUCK PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE I CAN'T DRIVE.... I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON XL AND ON 10/21/13 MY BRAKE COMPLETELY GAVE OUT. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT TEN MPH AND WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO A STOP. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE CONDITION. MY SON USUAL DRIVES THIS TRUCK TO SCHOOL AND WORK THANK GOD HE WAS NOT BEHIND THE WHEEL. UPON INSPECTION I NOTICED THE BRAKE LINES ARE COMPLETELY CORRODED. THE BRAKE LINE UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT DOOR JUST BEHIND THE ABS UNIT CORRODED THROUGH. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES SHOW MAJOR CORROSION. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 76,500 MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD NEVER HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE WITH THIS LITTLE USE. MAY I ADD THAT I KEEP THE VEHICLE MECHANICALLY AND COSMETICALLY METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED. I WOULD LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED IF THERE IS ANY ACTION TAKEN BY GMC TO RESOLVE OR REPAIR THESE ISSUES. FURTHERMORE IF ANY CLASS ACTION SUIT ARISES I WOULD LIKE TO BE NOTIFIED. THROUGH MY RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM ALL OVER THE COUNTRY CAUSING MANY ACCIDENTS. GMC SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. THANKS *TR
THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES WILL JUST GO TO ZERO AS YOU'RE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THEY MAY COME BACK ON IN A FEW MINUTES OR AFTER YOU SHUT DOWN THE VEHICLE. ALL FUSES ARE GOOD. ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS WORK I.E. TURN SIGNALS, HIGH BEAM, & HAZ. DURING RESTART THEY FLASH AS THEY WOULD NORMALLY BUT THE GAUGES MAY OR MAY NOT COME BACK ON LINE. AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM.
