WHILE TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER IN THE VEHICLE MALFUNCTIONED AND BEGAN STEADILY DECREASING UNTIL IT REACHED 0. LUCKILY I HAD MY GPS TO GO BY FOR MY VEHICLE SPEED, OTHERWISE I WOULD HAVE HAD KNOW CLUE OF HOW FAST OR SLOW I WAS GOING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND SHOULD BE A RECALL ON ALL VEHICLES REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE, OR DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE FIRST!! *TR
CAR HAS LOW MILES FOR AGE AND TODAY THE BRAKE LINE BEGAN TO LEAK UNDER DRIVER SIDE SEAT BECAUSE OF RUST. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 4:00PM, IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. TRAFFIC BEGAN TO SLOW AND BECOME BACKED UP, DUE TO CONGESTION IN A WORK ZONE. I APPLIED MY BRAKES, PUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I AVOIDED COLLIDING WITH THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME, BY MANEUVERING ONTO THE SHOULDER, AND HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKES TO STOP. *TR
UPON APPLYING BRAKES, WHILE DRIVING DOWNHILL, THE RIGHT REAR STEEL BRAKE LINE BURST RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF BRAKING POWER. FORTUNATELY,Y I HAD SIGNIFICANT DISTANCE BETWEEN ME AND THE NEXT CAR THAT I COULD AVOID AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE STILL HAD SOME BRAKING POWER TO ALLOW ME TO DRIVE IT TO A NEARBY PARKING LOT WHERE IT CONTINUED TO LOSE BRAKE FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL GMC DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY REPLACED ALL THE STEEL LINES WITH COPPER/NICKEL LINES AT A COST OF $1,606.00. I WAS TOLD THAT THE STEEL LINES ARE RUSTING OUT AS A RESULT OF THE DE-ICING CHEMICALS BEING USED ON THE ROADS DURING THE WINTER. I HAVE HAD VEHICLES UP TO 15 YEARS OLD IN THE PAST AND NEVER HAD SUCH AN EXPERIENCE AS THIS. I QUESTION THE QUALITY OF THE STEEL LINES. IF GM IS OF THE OPINION THAT THEIR STEEL LINES CAN'T WITHSTAND THE DE-ICING CHEMICALS THEN THEY SHOULD HAVE INSTALLED COPPER/NICKEL LINES AT THE FACTORY. THANK YOU. *JS
SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT GO BACK TO 0, IT IS GIVING A FALSE SPEED
AS I WAS BACKING MY TRUCK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I RELEASE THERE WAS NO BRAKE PRESSURE. THEN THE SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON, I STOP THE CAR POPPED THE HOOD AND NOTICE THE FLUID WAS LOW. CHECK UNDER THE CAR AND FOUND THE LINE THAT GOES FRONT TO REAR IS BUSTED IN THE MIDDLE FROM RUST. I HAD TO USE MY PARKING BRAKE TO SLOW IT DOWN WHEN I MOVED IT BACK TO ITS SPACE. *TR
SPRING OF 2013 I LOST MY BRAKES ,LINES AND CONNECTORS TOTALLY RUSTED OUT (REPLACED).JULY 2013 MY FULL TANK OF GAS POURED OUT ALL OVER THE GROUND.SENDING UNIT ,FEED LINE, RETURN LINE TOTALLY ROTTED AND BLEW OUT.BUT THE PUMP STILL WORKED. LOL (ALL REPLACED).I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK WITH 70000 MILES ON IT AT 5 YEARS OLD.FROM A VOLVO DEALERSHIP.I ONLY PUT 10000 MILES ON IT IN APPROXIMATELY 4 YEARS.I KEEP IT WELL MAINTAINED AND CHANGE THE OIL EVERY 3000 MILES.WHATS NEXT? I HAVE DRIVEN TRUCKS FOR 35 YEARS NOW.NEVER HAD ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPEN BEFORE.WHAT GIVES WITH THESE CRAPPY MADE PARTS!!!!! .MAKE THEM IN THE U.S.A.!!!!..WHO ARE THE ENGINEERS DESIGNING THIS VEHICLES.THY MAKE IT HARD FOR THE MECHANICS TO WORK ON WITHOUT HAVING TO DISASSEMBLE EVERYTHING TO GET TO THE REPAIR THATS NEEDED! HEADACHE FOR THEM AND $$$$$ UNNECESSARY UNSAFE FOR US!!
MY SON AND I WERE GOING NORTH ON RT 1 IN REHOBOTH BEACH AND STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND SMELLED GAS. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND GAS WAS LEAKING FAST FROM THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK. TOOK IT STRAIGHT UP TO MY MECHANIC [XXX] AT EMERY CHASSISWORKS AND LEFT IT FOR HIM TO CHECK. HE FOUND THE METAL GAS PUMP HAS RUSTED OUT ON TOP AND WAS PUMPING GAS ALL OVER. .HE SAID HE ONLY FOUND ONE OTHER YUKON WITH THAT PROBLEM. ALL THE OTHERS HAD A PLASTIC TOP (THAT COULD NOT RUST). THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS (ANY CIGARETTE, SPARK, ETC.) AND WE WERE BLOWN UP. WHY DIDN'T I HAVE THE GAS PUMP ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK WITH A PLASTIC TOP THAT DOESN'T RUST. VERY DANGEROUS. AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILURE NOTED BY WARNING LIGHT. INSPECTED BY GMC DEALER WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. RECOMMENDED COMPLETE CONTROL SYSTEM REPLACEMENT >$1000.00. *TR
WHEN WE TURN LEFT, THE VEHICLE TURNS OFF ,LOSES POWER STEERING, BRAKES, GAUGES LIGHT UP, THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN TURNING LEFT BETWEEN 3-5 MILES HOUR, THE GARAGE SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AND THE STABILITY CONTROL IS ON TO. *TR
BROKEN EXHAUST BOLTS ON GM ENGINES. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT AND FAILURE ON THESE ENGINES AND IS PART OF THE VEHICLE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS. THIS IS ALSO A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT, POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH THIS FAILURE INCLUDE; CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. *TR
UPON START UP OF VEHICLE, A TICKING NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. UPON INSPECTION, FOUND THAT THE LEFT REAR EXHAUST BOLT ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD BROKEN OFF CAUSING EXHAUST LEAK. UPON INVESTIGATION ON THE INTERNET, THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE GM 6.0 LITER AND OTHER ENGINES. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT AND ALSO CAUSES THE EMISSIONS CONTROLS OF THE ENGINE TO BE INOPERABLE. POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUES CAN AND DO INCLUDE; CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT FAILURE. *TR
BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR FAILED IN THE TRUCK..WHEN THE CAR IS OFF MOTOR WILL RUN AND EVENTUALLY KILL THE BATTERY... MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT BUT THE COMPANY NO LONGER MAKE THIS RESISTOR BECAUSE OF THE MALFUNCTION... SO NOT YEARS LATER STILL CAN'T FIX IT..CAN'T FIND THE RESISTOR AND NOW I HAVE NO AIR NO HEAT FOR 3 YEARS NOW. *TR
WENT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD NO PRESSURE WHATSOEVER. SLOWLY DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME WITH MINIMAL BRAKES. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, BRAKE FLUID POURED FROM MID-FRAME DRIVER'S SIDE. CONSIDERED VEHICLE TO BE UNSAFE UNTIL BRAKE LINES CAN BE REPLACED. *TR
SIDE WALLS ARE FAILING. CRACKS ALL AROUND NEAR RIM. RUBBER IS ALSO PEALING OFF IN SLICES. ON 3 OUT OF 4 TIRES TIRE MODEL IS SPORT HT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED DURING ACCELERATION, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THE TRACTION ACTIVE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR FILTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE BG FUEL INDUCTION SERVICED NEEDED TO BE DONE, THE FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE NEEDED TO BE DONE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TODAY WHEN STARTING MY 2004 YUKON, THE INFORMATION CENTER DISPLAYED THE MESSAGES: "STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED", "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH ON A LEVEL SURFACE AND BARELY 3 MPH UP A MODERATELY STEEP HILL. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON ROUTE 80, DRIVE ON THE SHOULDER AND THANKFULLY MADE IT TO A DEALER. I'VE HEARD OF SO MANY GMC VEHICLES HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. WE NEED A SOLUTION BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED! *TR
THE SPEEDOMETER WILL WORK SOMETIMES BUT MOST OF TIME IT WONT. ALSO THE OTHER GAUGES IN DASH BOARD WILL QUIT WORKING. THE PERIOD OF TIME OF IT NOT WORKING HAS STEADILY INCREASE. IT HAS CAUSED BOTH MY HUSBAND TICKETS OR WARNINGS BECAUSE IT DOES NOT WORK. THE OTHER GAUGES ( THE OIL, TEMP AND RPM )ARE UNRELIABLE. I CHECKED WITH A MECHANIC AND HE SAYS THIS IS COMMON FOR THE MODEL I HAVE. TO REPAIR THEY HAVE TO REMOVE THE DASHBOARD. *TR
BRAKES WERE REDUCED TO ABOUT 10% OF NORMAL AND THE 'SERVICE BRAKES' LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PUSH THE PEDAL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR TO STOP. THE MECHANIC SAID ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES MUST BE REPLACED AS THEY ARE RUSTED, AND THAT THIS IS A TYPICAL PROBLEM WITH GMC TRUCKS OF THIS TYPE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WOULD ENGAGE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BECOME DISABLED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. HE ALSO ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL ABNORMALLY TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE SEVERELY CORRODED AND LEAKING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
I WAS GOING TO WORK AND NOTICE MY SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT MOVING...AND THE RMP READING WAS NOT MOVING. I CHECK WITH MY MACHANIC AND THE PRICE WAS OVER $600. TO FIX AND ALL THE CABLES HAVE TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY ARE ALL PUT TOGETHER. GMC KNOW THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER CABLES. WE HAVE A 94 GMC AND NO PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY NEEDED TO BE FILLED BUT THERE WERE NO VISIBLE LEAKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE CYLINDER HEADS HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE "STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED" SENSOR COMES ON FOLLOWED BY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND MY VEHICLE WON'T GO FASTER THAN 5MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES IN THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS ONLY UPON START UP OF THE VEHICLE. SOMETIMES, IF I WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTART MY CAR, IT'LL START JUST FINE BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I FIRST BROUGHT IT INTO HENDRICK CHEVROLET ON 10/15/12. THEY CHARGED ME ALMOST $700 TO REPLACE "APP SENSOR ASSEMBLY". THEN I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN ON 11/6/12 FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEY REPLACED THE "CONNECTOR AT THE THROTTLE BODY" AND CHARGED ME $223.09. THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY WENT AWAY. I THEN BROUGHT IT BACK ON 12/20/12 WITH THE SAME ISSUE BUT THIS TIME THE CHECK ENGINE WON'T TURN OFF AS A RESULT OF THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER-STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED WARNING. THEY SIMPLY RESET THE WARNING AND THAT WAS IT. TIL THIS DAY, I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE GOING INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER/STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED. THIS HAS BECOME A CONSTANT ISSUE AND THORN ON MY SIDE AND EACH TIME I BRING IT IN FOR SERVICE, THEY ALWAYS TELL ME IT'S SOMETHING ELSE. I HAVE READ MANY OF THE SAME ISSUES OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD. WHY HAVEN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON THIS??? *TR
I WAS HOOKING UP A DUMP TRAILER TO MY 2004 YUKON XL AND WHEN I WENT TO DO A TURN SIGNAL AND BRAKE LIGHT CHECK ON THE TRAILER, MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. NO WARNINGS OF ANY KIND. I AM EXTREMELY LUCKY THAT I WAS NOT MOVING AND HAD JUST COMPLETED DRIVING IN HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC FOR SEVERAL HUNDRED MILES. THE FAILURE WAS TOTAL AND IMMEDIATE. I DROVE THE VEHICLE TO A NEARBY SHOP WITH THE PARKING BRAKE. THE SHOP DIAGNOSED THE BRAKE FAILURE AS CORROSION IN BRAKE LINES AND FITTINGS. I JUST MOVED TO FLORIDA THIS YEAR, PREVIOUSLY THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN IN HEAVILY SALTED AND BRINED ROADS IN THE NORTHEAST. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TRACTION CONTROL LITE CAME ON IN DASH THEN POWER TO SUV WAS LOST THEN ELECTRONIC MESSAGE READ OUT STATED "STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED " THEN " REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" MESSAGE APPEARED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF INTERSTATE BUT NEARLY GOT REARENDED HIT BY SEMI. ENGINE WOULD RUN ONLY AT IDLE SPEED. AFTER SHUTTING OFF VEHICLE AND WAITING MINUTE OR TWO THEN RESTARTING IT RAN FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THEN. SPEEDS VARY 70,55,40 MPH IT DOESN'T MATTER. AFTER CALLING DIFFERENT GMC DEALERS ABOUT PROBLEM THEY ACT LIKE THIS IS SOMETHING THEY NEVER HEARD OF."BULL**** !!!!. ITS THE SAME PROBLEM NUMEROUS GMC OWNERS ARE FACING ON THE INTERNET. GMC CUSTOMERS HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WITH NO PROBLEMS SOLVED. ALL THEY WANT TO DO IS HOOK YOU UP TO ELECTRONIC MACHINE AND OVERCHARGE YOU FOR THE SAME THING AUTOZONE ,ETC. BUSINESSES WILL DO FOR FREE. I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THEM TO BE PARTS REPLACERS . GMC SHOULD KNOW THE EXACT PART TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. SOMEONE OR FAMILY IS GOING TO GET HURT BADLY IF GMC DOESN'T FIX THIS PROBLEM THEY KNOW THEY HAVE. *TR
WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, THE "STABILITY CONTROL DISABLED" SENSOR COMES ON FOLLOWED BY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND MY VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE THE 4-5 TIMES IT HAS HAPPENED AS I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL OFF THE ROAD, WAIT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND RESTART MY CAR. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED A HUB THAT MY MECHANIC SAID WAS CAUSING A "TRACTION CONTROL" PROBLEM FROM EARLIER. I AM READING ONLINE ALL OF THE NIGHTMARES AND I UNFORTUNATELY DO NOT HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO KEEP TRYING TO FIX AN ISSUE THAT GMC IS CLEARLY AWARE OF. I HAVE 5 KIDS AND FREQUENTLY DRIVE THEM AROUND AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT AND I THINK GMC SHOULD TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING/ BRAKING NORMALLY, BRAKE PEDAL SUNK DOWN TO FLOOR. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING SLOW AND NO OTHER CARS WERE AROUND BECAUSE STOPPING AT 30 MPH TOOK A VERY LONG SPACE. I FOUND OUT THAT 1 BRAKE LINE ROTTED THROUGH TILL IT LEAKED AND 3 OTHERS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. GMC DOES NOT MAKE REPLACEMENT LINES THEY NEED TO BE CUSTOM MADE. *TR
DROVE VEHICLE TO MY DESTINATION FOR SHOPPING, NO SIGNS OR WARNING WHAT TO FOLLOW. CAME OUT OF FACILITY, STARTED VEHICLE,BACKED UP VEHICLE,STEPPED ON BRAKE, PEDAL TO FLOOR, SAID THIS CAN'T BE , PULLED A LITTLE FORWARD SAME THING NO BRAKES, GOT OUT OF VEHICLE FOUND RIVER OF BRAKE FLUID. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHERE HE ALERTED ME THAT ALL BRAKE LINES WERE ROTTED OUT. ALL LINES NOW NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1500.00 WITH NON-CORROSIVE LINES. THIS IS A DISGRACE AND I HAVE CALLED GM TO COMPLAIN WHO SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL. PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE IF THIS IS NOT FIXED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR LIFT-GATE WINDOW DETACHED AFTER THE LIFT-GATE DOOR WAS CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 102,000.
BACKING UP APPLIED BRAKES, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, STOPPED LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE SEEN BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM BRAKE LINES. TOWED VEHICLE HOME, LOOKING UNDER VEHICLE FUEL LINES AND BRAKE LINES ARE VERY RUSTED FOR VEHICLE WITH ONLY 80,000 MILES. *TR
BRAKE HOSE IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT DEVELOPED PINHOLE LEAK DUE TO HEAVY RUST. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE BLEEDER SCREWS RUSTED SOLID- CAN'T BLEED LINES AFTER REPAIRS. IT APPEARS THAT INFERIOR QUALITY METAL BRAKE LINES WERE USED THAT RUST EASILY. THIS IS A VERY LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS AND GM NEEDS TO HELD ACCOUNTABLE, AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED AS VERY SERIOUS CRASHES MAY OCCUR. *TR
I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE FROM COMMUNITY FORD IN INDIANA. I GOT UP UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THE FRAME IS SEVERELY RUSTED AND CRACKED AT THE FACTORY INSTALLED FRAME HITCH MOUNT POINTS. MY 18-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER NARROWLY ESCAPED DEATH THE EVENING OF MAY 1ST WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. SHE WAS IN A RELATIVELY "ROUTINE" ACCIDENT IN WHICH SHE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND STRUCK A TREE HEAD-ON IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA OF COLORADO SPRINGS. A GOOD SAMARITAN PULLED HER FROM THE VEHICLE SECONDS BEFORE THE VEHICLE ERUPTED INTO A MASSIVE FIREBALL THAT COMPLETELY GUTTED THE VEHICLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I AM ENORMOUSLY TROUBLED BY THE FIREBALL -- NOT SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAPPEN IN THIS TYPE OF ACCIDENT. I AM REMINDED OF SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD PINTO AND FORD EXPLORER AND WORRY THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THIS VEHICLE THAT MAY COST OTHERS THEIR LIVES. I PURCHASED AND METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE I WANTED SOMETHING BIG, HEAVY AND SAFE TO PROTECT MY FAMILY, NEVER ANTICIPATING THIS HORRIFIC SCENARIO. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 YUKON DENALI XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE RELEASE VALVE. THE VEHICLE ALSO EMITTED A LOUD NOISE WHEN IT WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO INSPECTED THE BRAKES AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE RELEASE VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V043000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS SECOND GM VEHICLE THAT I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM IT GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER OFTEN.SPENT OVER 3,000.00 TRYING TO FIX FIRST VEHICLE AND NEVER DID. DEALERS DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX. THE TOP OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY RUSTED THROUGH ALLOWING GAS FUMES TO ENTER THE VEHICLE AND THE GARAGE IN WHICH THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. IT ALSO CAUSED HARD STARTING. THE REPLACEMENT FUEL PUMP WAS OF A DIFFERENT DESIGN WITH THE TOP BEING CONSTRUCTED OF ALUMINUM AND BRASS AND NOT STEEL TO PREVENT RUSTING. *TR
DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LINES WERE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. GMC DEALER CHARGED ME $925.33 AND HAD MY TRUCK FOR 4 DAYS. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 52,000 MILES ON IT. PLEASE MAKE THIS A RECALL.
I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI AND AS I SEE FROM THE MANY COMPLAINTS BEFORE ME MY CLUSTER HAS WENT OUT. I HAVE NO USE OF MY DASHBOARD AT ALL. NO USE OF GAS GAUGE. NO USE OF SPEEDOMETER. NO USE OF OIL GAUGE. NO USE OF ANYTHING ON DASH. WHY AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS HAS GMC NOT DONE ANYTHING. 02/09/2012-RECEIVED WARNING IN MESSAGE CENTER ADVISING TO CHECK RIDE CONTROL. LOCATED BROKEN RIGHT FRONT HEIGHT SENSOR ACTUATOR FOR BROKEN CONTROL ARM LINKAGE. SENSOR REPLACED (MILEAGE 63,031). ON 09/27/2015, THE LEFT SENSOR BROKE, ALSO REQUIRING REPLACEMENT (MILEAGE 82,700).
COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE DUE TO BRAKE LINE CORROSION, SUDDEN ONSET, DRIVER SIDE TO REAR BRAKE. HAD PREVIOUS EPISODE FRONT PASSENGER LINE 3 MOS PRIOR. WILL BE REPLACING ALL LINES AT PERSONAL COST W STAINLESS TUBING, PENDING RECALL. VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE INITIAL OCCURRENCE. AT VARIOUS SPEEDS (5-55 MPH) THE STEERING GOES OUT AND YOU CANNOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. OUR VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE YEARS TO CORRECT THIS. THE MECHANICS CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG, AND SINCE THIS IS NOT A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM, THEY ARE UNABLE TO EXPERIENCE IT. IT'S A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU ARE ON THE BELTWAY AND NEED TO TAKE AN EXIT, OR FOLLOW THE BELTWAY BEARING RIGHT OR LEFT AND YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OF YOUR STEERING. MORE FRIGHTENING IS WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. I'VE HAD ONE MINOR INCIDENT/ACCIDENT WHILE BACKING UP TO PARK MY TRUCK AT A CAMPGROUND. I DID NOT HAVE MY FOOT ON THE GAS AND WAS DRIFTING. THERE WAS A TREE BEHIND ME, WHICH I NEEDED TO PARK NEXT TO, AND THE STEERING WENT OUT AND MY LEFT BUMPER EDGE CAUGHT THE TREE, WHICH PUSHED THE BUMPER IN SLIGHTLY. THIS CAUSED THE RUBBER TRACK ON THE TOP OF THE BUMPER TO POP UP AND IT CANNOT BE REATTACHED. ADDITIONALLY THERE ARE NASTY SCRATCHES ON THE BUMPERS EDGE. *TR
MY CAR BEGAN TO HAVE A BUILD UP OF SLUGS AND BEGAN LOOSING OIL PRESSURE AND COOLANT AND NEEDED OIL ADDED AND COOLANT FREQUENTLY. OIL PRESSURE FLAT-LINED IN JANUARY OF 2012 AND IT WAS TAKEN TO MY MECHANIC. THE SLUGS WERE CLEANED AND A NEW OIL PUMP WAS PLACED BECAUSE OF THE BUILD UP OF SLUGS. I WAS ADVISED TO CHANGE THE OIL FREQUENTLY TO CLEAN THE SLUG OUT BUT IT CONTINUED TO BUILD UP AND THE MYSTERY OF LOOSING COOLANT OIL PRESSURE HAS BOTTOMED OUT TWO MORE TIMES AND I FOUND A ARTICLE ON THE INTERNET THAT A NUMBER OF GMC VEHICLES INCLUDING MINE WERE BUILT WITH DEFECTIVE CYLINDER HEADS DUE TO CRACKS OVER TIME WHICH ALLOWS COOLANT TO LEAK INTO ENGINE AND MIX WITH THE OIL WHICH BUILDS UP SLUG. I WANT TO KNOW WHY A RECALL DOES NOT EXIST. THIS HAS COST ME SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS....I NEED GMC TO MAN UP TO THE PROBLEM AND FIX IT.*JB

MY HUSBAND'S 2004 YUKON DENALI CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY OF HOME. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SITTING FOR NEARLY TWO HOURS BEFORE IT SPONTANEOUSLY IGNITED. I CALLED 911 WHILE MY HUSBAND TOOK THE HOSE AND SPRAYED WATER ON THE FIRE, WHICH WAS IN THE DASHBOARD OF THE SUV. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED A FEW MINUTES LATER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE WAS INJURED, BUT IT IS UNKNOWN WHY THE VEHICLE IGNITED AND WAS ON FIRE. I CONTACTED GMC VIA ONLINE CHAT, AND THE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE 2004 YUKON DENALI. AFTER SOME PRELIMINARY SEARCHES ONLINE, I FOUND NUMEROUS CLAIMS OF THE SAME THING OCCURRING TO OTHER OWNERS OF YUKON AND TAHOE SUVS IN THE U.S.. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE BRAKE PEDAL FELL TO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO AVOID A CRASH. THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND THE TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE FAILED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE SUBJECT VEHICLE HAD RECENTLY BEEN PARKED AFTER TOWING A 29 FOOT LONG TRAVEL TRAILER. IT HAD SAT FOR APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS SINCE WE LAST USED IT. DURING THE 2011 30 OCTOBER SNOW STORM IN PA, I WENT TO PICK IT UP TO USE IT. I STARTED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND WENT TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR. ALL OF THE ANTILOCK AND BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASH. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND BACK IT BACK THE DRIVEWAY AND PARK IT. WE LATER CALLED AAA AND HAD IT TOWED TO A LOCAL CHEVY DEALER. THEY DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND LET US KNOW THAT THEY HAD FOUND A BRAKE LINE THAT BURST DUE TO CORROSION. THIS BRAKE LINE IS ALMOST DIRECTLY UNDER THE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY AND IS SOMEWHAT HIDDEN FROM VIEW. IT LIES ATOP THE FRAME IN THIS AREA AND ACCORDING TO THE DEALER HAD CORRODED. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY HAD TO FABRICATE A REPLACEMENT BRAKE LINE AND WERE ABLE TO REPLACE IT. THEY FURTHER INDICATED THEY LOOKED AT THE OTHER BRAKE LINES AND DID NOT SEE ANY FURTHER INDICATION OF CORROSION. I HAVE DRIVEN THE GMC FOR ABOUT TEN MILES SINCE THE REPAIR AND THE BRAKES APPEAR TO BE BACK TO NORMAL. LET ME ADD THIS, I HAVE OWNED 15 DIFFERENT VEHICLES IN MY LIFE AND NOT ONE HAS HAD TO HAVE A STEEL BRAKE LINE REPLACED. THIS IS THE FIRST. JUST LIKE THE OTHER GM OWNERS, WHEN THESE LINES FAIL THE BRAKING ABILITY TO STOP THIS TWO TON VEHICLE IS ALMOST NON-EXISTENT I AM VERY THANKFUL THIS LINE DID NOT FAIL WHILE TOWING THE 29 FOOT TRAVEL TRAILER. *KB

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,937.
SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO FUNCTION, GAVE INCONSISTENT, INCORRECT SPEED. GM DEALER REPORTS THIS AS COMMON AND ACKNOWLEDGED BY GM IN THIS YEAR/MODEL, SUCH THAT GM EXTENDED WARRANTY TO 72,000 MILES. SINCE THIS WAS NOTICED PAST 72,000, GM OFFERS TO FIX, FOR A SUBSTANTIAL FEE. NOT KNOWING SPEED, OR BEING MISLED BY THE SPEEDOMETER, IS A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
