BRAKE LINE ERODED AWAY ON A VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. NEARLY COLLIDED WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING OVER SPEED BUMP AND HAD ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING! MY PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE ONLY WAY II AVOIDED COLLISION WAS PUTTING THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND STOMPING ON THE PARKING BREAK. FOR A VEHICLE THAT NEW COSTS OVER 50000 DOLLARS TO FAIL AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND NOT EVEN CLOSE TO A DECADE OLD IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. THIS VEHICLE RARELY SEEMS INCLEMENT WEATHER AND IS COVERED WITH A NEARLY 500 DOLLAR CALIFORNIA CAR COVER. *TR
THE RUBBER BOOT THAT HOLDS THE GREASE IN ON THE LOWER & UPPER BALL JOINTS ON BOTH LEFT & RIGHT SIDE HAVE BLOWN OUT. *TR
WE HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON. SINCE WE'VE HAD IT, REDUCED ENGINE POWER HAS BECOME A CONSTANT AND DANGEROUS PROBLEM. MOST RECENTLY, YESTERDAY, MY HUSBAND WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE WITH HUGE TIRES ON THE BACK ONLY TO HAVE THIS HAPPEN. IF SOMEONE HAD BEEN BEHIND US, WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT, SERIOUSLY INJURED, MAYBE EVEN DEAD WITH SOME OF THE CIRCUMSTANCES WE HAVE HAD ON THE INTERSTATE. TODAY IS AUGUST 23, 2011. WE HAD THIS VEHICLE FIXED ON JULY 28, 2011, PAYING ALMOST $600 FOR IT TO BE TAKEN CARE OF. IT SAYS ON THE TICKET THAT WE TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AND WERE UNDER THE IMPRESSION THIS WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT. THEY REPLACED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY, WHICH I BELIEVE INCLUDED THE APP SENSOR, AND CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY OF EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILD UP. AFTER SPENDING $500-600, I WANT TO KNOW WHY WE ARE STILL HAVING THIS PROBLEM ALONG WITH SO MANY OTHERS I HAVE SEEN COMPLAIN ABOUT IT ONLINE? GMC HAS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT WAS EXITING A PARKING SPACE AT 3 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED INTO THE FLOORBOARD ABNORMALLY. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS USED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE FAILURE. THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. FORM RETURND NO CHANGE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT SUDDENLY DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY THE OWNER AND HE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINES FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 70,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
VEHICLE STEERING LOCKED WHILE MAKING A TURN.
AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK LATE THIS AFTERNOON ON JULY 05, 2011 ON RT 589 IN PASCO COUNTY FL, I WAS COMING OFF THE EXIT TO A RED LIGHT AND I COULD NOT STOP. I HAD TO PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND HOLD IT THERE IN ORDER TO STOP JUST SHORT OF THE INTERSECTION. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS IN THE RIGHT LANE GOING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AT THE SAME TIME. I PULLED OVER AFTER THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND NOTICED FLUID SQUIRTING OUT ABOVE THE PASSENGER REAR TIRE AREA. AFTER I MADE IT HOME I PULLED THE TIRE OFF AND LOOKED AROUND AND NOTICE TWO HEAVILY CORRODED LINES WHERE THE FLUID WAS COMING OUT.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED AND TRYING TO MAKE A TURN WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED; THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 04V045000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) DEALING WITH THE HYDRO-BOOST MODULE, BUT THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
REDUCED POWER INDICATOR ON INFORMATION CENTER COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, WHEN IT DOES, VEHICLES GOES INTO DEFAULT MODE & CAN GO MAX 30 MPH (VERY DANGEROUS, WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED). NEVER KNOW WHEN IT MIGHT HAPPEN. YOU CAN PULL OVER SHUT ENGINE OFF SIT FOR A LITTLE WHILE & IT WILL START UP & RUN FINE UNTIL THE NEXT TIME THE REDUCED POWER LIGHT COMES ON. HAVE HAD IT @ SEVERAL SHOPS & REPLACED THROTTLE SENSOR, TRACED WIRES, REPLACED GROUNDS, INSPECTED HARNESS BUT DOESN'T SEEM TO HELP. I SEE ON THE ONLINE MESSAGE BOARDS THERE IS A LOT OF PROBLEMS THAT GM CAN'T SEEM TO FIND A FIX FOR. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR WITHIN CITY, THE TRUCK DISPLAYS A WARNING "STABILITY SYSTEM DISABLED, REDUCED ENGINE POWER". THE TRUCK WHILE IN MOTION LOWERS POWER AND BECOMES A SAFETY HAZARD, UNABLE TO DRIVE WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. FORCED TO PULL OVER AND IN ONE INSTANCE THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING DUE TO THE AFOREMENTIONED WARNING. TO DATE THE THROTTLE BODY HAS BEEN REPLACED HOWEVER THE CONDITION RETURNED 1 WEEK LATER, UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. AT THIS TIME A SOLUTION TO THE CONDITION HAS NOT PRESENTED ITSELF AND THE TRUCK IS QUITE DANGEROUS AS IT MAY SHUT DOWN OR REDUCE ITS ENGINE POWER DUE TO THIS DEFECT THAT GM IS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE REAR NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT ALSO RECEIVED AN ADJUSTMENT OF SERVICE NOTICE FROM THE MANUFACTURER AND THE AIR CONDITIONER IN THE FRONT WAS REPAIRED, BUT NOT THE REAR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE POWER CONNECTER AND THE RESISTER BLOWER. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE FAILURE OF THE REAR AIR CONDITIONER WAS A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 92,000.
THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS, ON THE 2004 GMC DENALIS. IT'S LIKE IT STARTS SLOW YOUR GAUGES GO OUT. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING! THEN THE OIL, TEMP FOR ENGINE, AND TRANSMISSION. WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE. THEN THE BRAKES GET A MIND OF THEIR OWN. RECENTLY THE RADIO & LIGHTS ARE ACTING UP WHICH IS SCARY, I HAVE A 7 YR. OLD. THE HEAT IN THE BACK DOESN'T WORK FOR HER, SO I HAVE SEVERAL BLANKETS FOR HER. THE TELEVISION QUIT LONG AGO, IT WAS ONE OF THE REASONS WE BOUGHT THE CAR, SO KIDS COULD WATCH TELEVISION ON LONG TRIPS, OR WHENEVER. WE PAID A LOT FOR THIS VEHICLE, I WOULD THINK GMC WOULD STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND CORRECT THE PRODUCT THEY STAND BY,AND ARE VERY PROUD OF. I WOULD LOVE TO JUST PURCHASE A NEW VEHICLE. I DO NOT HAVE THAT LUXURY, I LOST MY JOB, WE ARE PAY CHECK TO PAY CHECK WITH MY HUSBANDS INCOME. I CAN'T FIX OR REPLACE THIS CAR, THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED BEFORE ALL THE MALFUNCTIONS/DEFECTS. I HAVE A GARMIN SO I CAN TELL MY SPEED, AND HAVE TO HIT THE SIDE INSIDE THE CAR WHEN THE LIGHTS WON'T WORK. I HAVE A 2004 GMC YUKON DENALI. IT HAS 56,000 MILES. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND I TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS $50 TO SCAN SYSTEM AND $580 TO FIX THE PASSENGER AIR BAG SENSOR. THE OLD PART IS STILL ON MY CAR BECAUSE I AM NOT PAYING THAT FOR A $25.00 PART. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS. NO WONDER PEOPLE ARE GOING FOREIGN AND GETTING 10 YEARS/100K MILE WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD FAIL SPORADICALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE GEAR MECHANISM WAS DESIGNED TO FAIL OVER TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND WAS OFFERING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR ON VEHICLE WITHIN 70,000 MILES OR LESS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
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

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS PROVIDING INACCURATE SPEEDS TRAVELED AND READING A MUCH HIGHER SPEED THAN THE CONTACT WAS ACTUALLY DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED BY A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 124,000.
THE VEHICLES TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ENGAGES WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOPPED POSITION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO BE DISABLED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. ALSO THE ABS BRAKE ACTIVATE ON DRY ROAD UNDER LIGHT BRAKING. BOTH CONDITIONS RESULT IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN ATTEMPTING TO NEGOTIATE AN INTERSECTION. *TR
WHEN DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD GET STUCK. THEN GO BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAPPENED FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS THEN IT ALL STOPPED WORKING ALL THE GAUGES ARE NOW NOT WORKING. *TR
THE HOSES FOR THE REAR HEATING AND AIR CONDITION IS LEAKING AND I CALLED THE COMPANY AND THEY HAVE DISCONTINUED ALSO THE CLUSTER HAS COMPLETELY STOP WORKING. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 YUKON DENALI AND THE DASH BOARD HAS GONE OUT. I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. I HAVE 82,000 MILES ON IT. IT IS GOING TO COST ME $500 TO GET THIS FIXED. I WISH GMC WOULD REALIZE THAT THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AND SHOULD REFUND PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS ALSO MADE ME THINK AGAIN ABOUT BUYING ANOTHER GMC AGAIN!!! *TR
2004 GMC YUKON XL. GAS GAUGE OFTEN READS INCORRECTLY, MANY TIMES POINTING WAY PAST FULL OR STRAIGHT DOWN. THE VOLT METER HAS BEGUN READING INCORRECTLY, SHOWING IN EXCESS OF 20 VOLTS WHEN DRIVING AND IN EXCESS OF 16 VOLTS WHEN STOPPED WITH THE ENGINE OFF (KEY ON). THE SPEEDOMETER HAS STARTED TO READ INCORRECTLY OFTEN READING 0-10 MPH WHEN TRAVELING AT 30-40 MPH (GAUGED BY TRAFFIC). GM DID LOOK AT FUEL GAUGE ISSUE 2 YEARS AGO, BUT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I RECENTLY HAD MY VEHICLE IN MY SERVICE DEPT. FOR AN ON-GOING PROBLEM OF WHICH HERITAGE GMC COULD NOT REPAIR. FROM A STANDSTILL, WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE WOULD LOSE POWER AND NOT MOVE AFTER ABOUT 20 FEET OR SO AND A ?TRACTION ACTIVE? MESSAGE WOULD APPEAR ON THE DISPLAY. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE WOULD END UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH LOSS OF POWER AND CARS BEHIND ME WILL ALMOST RE END MY CAR. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT HAPPENING 6 OR MORE TIME DAILY, WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WOULD DRIVE FROM A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT. TO REGAIN POWER, YOU HAD TO LET OFF ON THE GAS PEDDLE AND THE DRIVE WOULD RE-ENGAGE. WE HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR A WHILE AND ALL THE GM VEHICLES RUN THIS TYPE OF SENSOR COMBO ON ALL THE WHEELS TELLING THE COMPUTER WHEN TO APPLY BRAKES OR POWER TO THE WHEELS, THESE GET DIRTY FROM ROAD SALT IN UPPER STATES AND GM WILL ONLY ADDRESS 2002 CARS, BUT THE 2002-2005 LOOK ALL ALIKE, THIS ALSO APPLIES TO REGULAR CARS, AFTER DOING A SEARCH THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE HAVING MY SAME PROBLEM, THIS IS AS SAFETY HAZARD AND IS GOING TO CAUSE A FATALITY....... *TR
2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI - SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON CRASH IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POLICE APPEARED ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE DRIVER AS WELL AS THE FRONT PASSENGER WAS INJURED AND TRANSPORTED VIA AMBULANCE TO THE HOSPITAL TO TREAT INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INSURANCE COMPANY LOT BUT DID NOT HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 134,000.
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WENT JERKY. *TR
2004 GMC YUKON XL DENALI SYSTEM STABILIZATION DISABLED WARNING LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON. THE DEALER CANNOT REPAIR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES IN THE CAR COMPUTER. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE WARNING LIGHT ON, BUT STILL NO ERROR CODES. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE SERVICE SHOP AND IT STILL IS COMING ON. TO DATE THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS NOR INJURIES, I HAVE LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE AS I WAS TOLD THE STABILIZATION SYSTEM WAS MANDATED BY THE GOVERNMENT AND IT MUST BE OPERATIONAL. WHAT RECOURSE DO I HAVE TO INSURE THE TRUCK IS SAFE? WHY CAN'T THEY REPLACE COMPUTER MODULES UNTIL THERE IS A RESOLUTION? THE TRUCK DID NOT DO THIS FOR THE FIRST FIVE YEARS I OWNED IT, DRIVING THE SAME EXACT ROADS THAT THE WARNING FLASHES ON NOW. *TR
FUEL GAUGE READING INACCURATELY. NEEDLE WENT WAY PAST THE FULL MARK INTO THE BLANK AREA ON THE BOTTOM OF THE GAUGE. ALSO, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 120MPH WHEN I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. I STUCK AT 70MPH WHEN I WAS STOPPED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 GMC YUKON XL EQUIPPED WITH HANKOOK VENTUS AS TIRES, SIZE WAS 305/50R/20XL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN VIBRATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP WHERE THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD A BUBBLE ON THE OUTSIDE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE A SECOND TIME AND WAS TAKEN TO THE TIRE SHOP. THE TECHNICIANS STATED THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION. THE CONTACT STATED HE DID NOT HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED BECAUSE THE MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE COST AND HE FELT IT WAS A SAFETY DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 90,000.

2004 GMC YUKON DENALI XL STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TACHOMETER NOT WORKING FOLLOWED BY THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE FLUCTUATING FROM LOW TO HIGH AND THEN STAYING PEGGED AT HIGH. THE VOLTAGE METER IS READING HIGH EVEN THOUGH WHILE IT WAS READING HIGH THE MECHANIC CHECKED IT AND HIS GAUGE SAID IT WAS FINE. WE HEAR A CLICKING IN THE DASHBOARD THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY CHECKED IT BUT IT IS STILL HAPPENING. WE ARE ON OUR 3RD RIDE LEVELING COMPRESSOR AND WE DON'T USE IT TO HALL A TRAILER. WHAT WILL BE NEXT. WE ARE CONCERNED SINCE THE SPEEDOMETER AND GAS GAUGE COULD BE NEXT. *TR
